Adam x reader (fluff)
Warnings for: mention of substance use, casual misogyny, alcohol
A/n requests are open, check my pinned post for details :^)
Tumblr media
You sat on the sofa, taking a large gulp of your drink. You always looked forward to Adam's parties, he and Charlie had been your best friends for about a year, and it was nice to spend time with the two of them. In the past, Adam's parties had become something of a free for all. At first he was okay with it, not quite coherent enough to care about the holes being punched in his walls, the stench of pcp emanating from his bathroom, or the broken glass on his carpet. But as he'd started to get his shit together and grow up a bit, he was less fond of his apartment becoming a hive of crime and wanton desire. One of the perks of your friendship was that you were pretty good at defusing situations before they happened, and you didn't really care if people liked you or not, so you weren't afraid to be bad cop and kick people out on Adam's behalf if they got too out of hand.
Adam joined you on the sofa, a glass of bourbon in his hand. This night was like any other, you scanned the room keeping an eye out for trouble, while Adam rolled you a cigarette.
"I see you found my bourbon then," he said, nodding towards the drink you'd helped yourself to.
"Well you didn't expect me to spend the whole night drinking cheap beer did you?" You replied smugly.
Adam laughed and shook his head.
"You're an asshole you know that? This was expensive" he feigned annoyance with you
"Tastes expensive too" you teased, swirling your drink in your hand.
You sat in comfortable silence for a bit, letting the laid back beats of wu-tang punctuate the lack of dialogue, when something caught your attention.
"Dude," you called toward a shaggy haired party goer stood in the corner of the room, smoking on something that definitely wasn't weed or a cigarette.
"Take that shit to the alley, it fucking stinks"
"Hey whatever man," he mumbled before slinking out the apartment door.
"Thanks" Adam said, shooting you a wink.
Just then, Charlie's familiar frame entered the room and made it's way over to the two of you.
"Me and the others are gonna head over to the other side of town soon, apparently one of the frat houses is throwing a rager. You guys gonna come?" He inquired.
"Man I'm too tired for that shit" Adam groaned, throwing his head back.
"I can't think of anything worse. I'd just end up dodging a bunch of frat guys asking 'is it true what they say about girls with piercings' all night" you said.
"Suit yourselves," Charlie said, before turning to the rest of the crowd, "guys come on, I don't wanna miss this party".
Gradually, the guests trickled out of the small apartment, leaving just you and Adam.
"Shit, I better call an uber, there's no way I'm walking in the state that I'm in" you said, pulling out your phone
"Aw did someone over do it?" Adam poked fun at you.
"Behave. Hang on, what the fuck? It says I'm banned?" You exclaimed, looking at the uber app.
"Lemme see," Adam said taking your phone, "ohohoh shit, you HAVE been banned" he sneered.
"I don't even know how that could've happened, I haven't used uber in ages. I mean, apart from that time I let you..." your voice trailed off as you put two and two together, looking up to see Adam's face painted with a guilty smile.
"Adam did you spill your guts all over an uber booked in my name by any chance?" You asked, with a put on polite tone.
He just shrugged.
"You asshole!" You cried out, lifting up one of the couch cushions and hitting him with it.
"I'm sorry! Look dude, you can just stay here tonight. I'll help you get your account back in the morning" he said, offering an olive branch in hopes that you hadn't seen how hard he was trying not to laugh at the situation.
"Fine. And I think I'll take that refill you were about to offer me" you responded, smugly handing your empty glass to him.
"Whatever your highness wants" he joked before dissapearing to the kitchen.
The pair of you sat idly on the sofa, smoking and arguing over which song to play next for a little while, until the conversation turned to your personal lives.
"Where's whats-her-face tonight anyways?" You asked Adam, referring to his latest friend with benefits.
"Oh Stacey?" He took a sip "long gone. I'm done with that"
"Are you serious man? Her tits were like the size of my head, how in the fuck have you upgraded from that?" You laughed.
Adam found himself chuckling with you, before responding.
"Nah, I mean I'm done with hookups. For now, at least. Like, don't get me wrong she was really fucking hot, but I don't know, I always just felt miserable afterwards" he dipped his head down slightly, cringing at himself for letting himself get slightly too real.
"No fucking way, I never thought I'd hear you say that" you teased, feeling ever so slightly proud of him. "How's abstinence treating you then?"
"You should know, miss I don't do hookups" he said.
It was true, as a rule, you didn't do hookups. You used to, and definitely still could if you wanted to, but you just didn't see the appeal of being that intimate with a stranger anymore.
"Man it gets hard, but it'll be worth it in the long run. Not like the dating pool has me spoilt for choice though" you said, taking a drag from your cigarette.
"Preaching to the choir. Seems like people around here either want nothing but sex or they're talkin bout 'how many kids you want?' 'What are you plans for the future?' Like, hell if I know, I just wanna meet someone that makes me laugh" Adam complained, dipping his ashes.
"While it is pretty jarring to hear you complain about people only wanting sex, you put it perfectly man" you said.
"Feels kinda good to get that off my chest. Don't get me wrong or anything, like I love Charlie, but I could never talk about this shit with him" Adam rambled.
You had to admit, it was oddly reassuring hearing Adam letting his human side out. You loved the lairy attitudes of you two best friends, but it got somewhat lonely being the only girl in the trio sometimes, you didn't often get the chance to talk about real shit. You found yourself feeling slightly sorry for Adam, it seemed like he'd been wanting to be more honest about his feelings for quite some time, but never felt brave enough to do so. Following this train of thought, you found yourself saying something you wouldn't normally say.
"At the risk of sounding corny as fuck, when was the last time someone gave you a hug?"
Adam puffed out his cheeks and exhaled before answering
"Too long ago, man"
"Well bring it in, dude" you said, leaning over to him with open arms.
The two of you hugged, giggling, and both slightly embarrassed, but enjoying it nonetheless. It seemed as though the pair of you had been needing this.
When the hug ended, Adam's arm remained over your shoulder, and you remained leaning on him comfortably. It should have felt weird, being so touchy feely with your bro like this, and in a way it did feel a bit weird, but at the same time it was comfortable and you didn't ever want it to stop.
"Look at you, getting all soft on me are we?" Adam teased.
"Watch yourself" you warned playfully
"Or what?" He grinned
"Or this" you said, swiftly tickling his ribs.
Through laughs, Adam somehow managed to snake his arms around your waist and hold you in place, unable to tickle him any longer. The laughter died down and the two of you found yourselves staring at eachother, both smiling shyly.
"You always make me laugh, y/n" he said, his voice low and gentle - it wasn't the lighthearted casual way he normally spoke.
"Same with you" You replied, hearing the softness on your own voice.
Ever so slowly, as though you were afraid to startle one another, your faces edged closer and closer together, until finally, your lips met. The kiss was gentle, tame and full of affection. It should have felt unexpected, unnatural, but for some reason it just felt inevitable, as though it had been a long time coming.
You both pulled away, blushing and smiling timidly
"Wow. How long you been holding that back?" You asked, your voice barely a whisper.
Matching your volume, Adam responded "longer than I think either of us are willing to admit"
Your smile grew in size, which seemed to reassure Adam, who'd felt a little worried that he'd overestimated your feelings for him.
"So.. we make eachother laugh. I think that meets both our standards," you said, earning a small chuckle from Adam.
"Should we stop putting off the inevitable and just.. you know.. give it a go?" Adam said, feeling a bit more confident now.
"What, me and you?" You asked, wanting to hear him say it.
"Yeah, me and you" he smiled
"I'd like that" you said, before kissing him gently.
You snuggled up to him on the sofa, and when the moment passed, the two of you resumed playfully making fun of eachother for being so sickly and cutesy. There was no use denying it any longer, you really were perfect for eachother.
A/n check my pinned post to make a request! Replies and reblogs are greatly appreciated bc I'm trying to locate some Adam stans (we're a rare breed)

David Patrick Kelly is nothing if not colorful. He has two black belts in karate, a pursuit he started about 30 years ago after he took a licking “defending a young lady’s honor in the streets.” He studied mime in Paris with Marcel Marceau. He introduced Bob Marley, Charles Mingus, and Bruce Springsteen from the stage at the punk club Max’s Kansas City. Arnold Schwarzenegger held him by an ankle and dropped him off a cliff in the film “Commando” (1985). He has been quoted, in song, by the Wu-Tang Clan.
The famous "Warriors, come out to play" scene in "The Warriors" (1979) was improvised by Kelly in collaboration with director Walter Hill who told him to just "come up with something" when he felt the scripted scene wasn't working. He then gathered up some empty beer bottles he found under the boardwalk and created the taunting dialogue based on a neighbor who used to intimidate him. The line was quoted by Ol’ Dirty Bastard on the Wu-Tang Clan’s 1993 debut album.
Kelly plays a character with the name "Luther" in two Walter Hill movies, "The Warriors" and "48 Hrs." (1982).
Kelly's father was a Bronze Star recipient for service during the Battle of the Bulge in World War II. His grandfather, Daniel Murphy, was from Lisnashearshane, Duhallow, County Cork, Ireland. His great-grand-uncle was Father William Corby, chaplain of the Irish Brigade at Gettysburg and, as detailed in his book, "Memoir of a Chaplain Life: 3 Years With the Irish Brigade," Father Corby eventually became president of the University of Notre Dame.

Tbh, at this point I’m more excited about the Wu-Tang/Nas concert. 😬 For which btw I paid the same amount and I get two superstar acts that exist longer than AM. Not that I’m complaining about the ticket price policy of rich white rock bands. 🤣//Likewise, I’m only going to Sheffield because I have never seen them as a band. The venue will be way too large for me. I’ve seen TLSP twice but at smaller venues. I’m not a fan of stadium concerts; they’re a rip off, whatever happened to economies of scale? I think they should consider the venue size for future events. Mod , you mentioned that the last two albums are less suited for stadiums but smaller venues. I’m a fan of all their work as many are but there some fans who are not. Perhaps they should consider smaller/larger venues and play specific albums? Saw TLSP in 2008 at Leeds Academy;they got heckled by someone, who obviously wasn’t expecting the change in musical direction but Alex shut him down excellently. Enjoy Wu-Tang/Nas
Not a fan of stadiums/arenas either. They never give me the enjoyment of a typical gig. You're staring at a screen for most of the 90 minutes and you drink expensive beer. I could do the same with a concert film at home.
I think they should've considered the venues for the albums they were supporting on tour at the time. Arenas were fine for the AM album but for TBHC and The Car the venues should've been smaller and more intimate instead of trying to squeeze out the maximum. For example I'm gonna see Wu-Tang/Nas in an amphitheatre which adds to the excitement because it's a special venue instead of the multi-purpose arena AM are gonna play. I'm willing to pay 80+ € but then make it special and don't phone it in.
I found out after the fact that I could've seen EYCTE era Alex in all his gorgeous glory. But 2016 was a rough year and after Prince died I've just checked out mentally and focused on writing my thesis only listening to his music. So I didn't realise they had released an album and were on tour (in the city I lived in at the time) until they dropped the EP at the end of the year. Needless to say I'm still angry with myself.

Stories We're Still Working On..
From the archives of Oklahoma’s great political satire writers of decades past, we bring you this classic reprint of a spoof that caused more than a little irritation to the political class on Lincoln Blvd.
– Robert’s Rules of Order to be replaced by Wu-Tang style – Legislation involving beer, horses isn’t as cool as you’d think – Legislature considers razing Capitol Dome, building another damn Walgreens – OSU Final Four loss somehow blamed on Carroll Fisher – To speed up legislative process, governor issued two hands, flashlight – Term-limited lawmakers no longer bothering to put on pants – Guthrie mobilizing National Guard in bid to retake state capitol – Yep, House Staffer has done it there too – The gay marriage ban: Could it destroy the Mathis Brothers?
We’ll continue publishing when we get our halloween costumes figured out.

Paris - Santiago
After the drama of missing our flight to Chile the first time round, I am happy to report that our second attempt went off without a hitch. It was a long overnight flight (14.5hrs) but it was fine. A good opportunity to watch some movies and we both got more sleep than we expected. We arrived in Santiago blurry eyed but excited and keen to make the most of the one day we had. While we were waiting at passport control we spotted the Wu-Tang Clan, who promptly made their way to the front of the queue. Bit rude.
After checking into our hostel we decided to go on a self-directed walking tour in order to see the main sights. Santiago sits in a valley surrounded by the Andes mountains so there are great views from most places. One of the best viewing spots is atop Saint Lucia hill, though it took a sweaty climb in the afternoon heat to make it up there. The rest of the tour took us through Santiago's chaotic shopping streets, stopping occasionally to sit in a nice plaza or look at a nice statue. We also had our first couple of empanadas in a famous, 80 year old cafe. The last site on the tour is another, much larger hill, San Cristobal. We wouldn't be walking up this one but we took a funicular to the top to take in some more amazing views. After descending the hill we were pretty tired so went to one of the trendier neighbourhoods to have a few beers. It was a shame that we only got to have one day in Santiago but we were pleased with the amount of things we got to see. We were due to travel to the west coast the next day to go to Valparaíso.
Daniel
A 2 hour bus journey later we arrived in Valparaiso in the late afternoon. It is a port city known for its colourful houses, graffiti art, and its 42 hills. We were staying up one of the hills in an interesting hotel made out of old shipping containers, which was a new one for us. The hotel has a nice terrace giving great views of the sea and a good birds eye view of the cities colours. On our first evening here we went for a wander around the town taking in all of urban art. Barely a wall can be seen without some cool graffiti. We ended the day with a beer on a nice restaurant terrace.
On our full day in Valpo (as the locals call it) we decided to go on an organised walking tour which promised to show us the Valpo that tourists normally don't see. A local guide took us walking around the old town and gave us a bit of a history lesson. It was a major port during the gold rush days and many grand mansions were built there. However, the opening of the Panama canal took a lot of the money away from Valpo and this downturn, combined with a few earthquakes, has left the old town damaged and neglected. The guide then took us on a bus up the top of the hills were we saw lots more art and a former prison turned cultural centre and we learnt about life under the Pinochet dictatorship in the 90's.
After the tour we went to a nice Peruvian restaurant (it felt appropriate as we had originally decided on going to Peru before our plans changed) and then jumped on a bus to the neighbouring beach town, Vina Del Mar. Vina is more upmarket than Valpo and has all the fancy hotels and beaches. Our first stop was to a nice gardens which contained an old palace which was now an art museum. It was a beautiful palace and contained some great paintings. We also got to see one of the famous Easter Island heads at a another museum which was cool as we haven't got time to visit the island on the this trip. We ended the night back at our hotel with wine, pizza and some card games on the rooftop.
Valpo reminded us a lot of Naples if you've been there, gritty yet beautiful from the right angles.
As I write we are in the ariport awaiting our flight to Punta Arenas in the south of Chile - the gateway to Patagonia.

Annie Are You Ok, Karaoke Our famed karaoke rooms will be open all day and all night for anyone wanting to bust out a  ballad, belter, or beloved 90s rap song!  Think you can rap like MC Hammer? Belt a little Celine Dion? Take on a group Spice Girls rendition? It’s all happening here!
*FYI, if clubbing is not the scene for you, Five By Night will be keeping its doors open late into the night, until 3AM!
Tumblr media
As soon as 10 PM rolls around, just two blocks down from Five By Night, Los Globos opens its doors and our guests will come pouring into the two-floored nightclub. We will have an array of deejays spinning the decks this night, including DJ Jude Nolan (a.k.a. DJ Rude Nolan) and DJ Ione Cora!

Life is a Cool Blackout, When You’re Sigma Chi
I’m a second-year brother of Sigma Chi and think most music is pretty lame. Like what can music really do besides make video games better. Most podcasts are better than most songs, but my girlfriend and all the other Tri-Delts love music when partying. They love Britney Spears and this album, Blackout. It makes sense because they are the only sorority that can drink as much as Sigma Chi. I blackout a lot and that is why my fraternity brothers named me Chug Life. My girlfriend’s name is Katie, which isn’t as cool, but she is so hot she doesn’t need a cool name.
Even when we have censual relations, she plays this album. She plays all of Britney’s albums but Blackout is the album she plays the most. I think this album is the one before she shaved her head. I don’t have a source for that but that is what Katie’s friend Veronica said, and Veronica is the Treasure of the Tri-Delts so it’s probably true.
I think I’ve heard the album like 45 times or something. At least 30 times with Katie and 20 times at Tri-Delts’ parties. I kind of like the album but that could be psychological. I am taking Psychology 1050, and learned that the stuff you like is because it brings up pleasureful memories. So when I think of Blackout I think of Katie naked and Tri-Delt parties, which are both pretty awesome.
The first song on the album is ‘Gimme More’ and it’s a good song to do shots too. I also think this album is really good for Beer Pong. Blackout Britney would have been total Tri-Delt material, before the head shaving thing. The next song is ‘Piece of Me’ which is lame, I don’t care about Britney’s life. Britney is best when she is singing songs about nothing. Britney is the Seinfeld of pop music. I have to attribute that line to my brother Ronnie Danger Wang, he’s the smartest guy in Sigma Chi. He’s majoring in statistics.
The third song, ‘Radar,’ is probably the best song. I like it because Katie does a cool dance to it while telling me I’m on her radar. Do you know that bats see through Radar? I think that is cool so I feel a little bit like Batman when she sings it. That is a good feeling. ‘Break The Ice’ isn’t too bad, but Brad The Chad, our Vice President, said the song sounds like something gay figure skaters would dance too, so that kind of ruined it for me.
‘Heaven on Earth’ is cool because the Tri-Delts do coke to it. I don’t know why, but that is their coke song. I don’t like coke because it just makes people talk more, especially the Tri-Delts. It’s already annoying to hear Katie and her friends talk about boring stuff like Gossip Girl and Heidi Montag, but on coke they’ll just go tangents and talk about if Heidi Montag believes in ghosts for like two hours.
‘Get Naked (I Got a Plan)’ kind of sucks but I like the message, but usually Katie is already naked so it just feels redundant. Tri-Delts are easy but they won’t flash at parties, they are protective of their Instagram presence. The background dude singer of the song sounds like a rapey Grapevine Singing Raisin. I don’t like him. I also don’t like the next song ‘Freakshow’. I don’t like weird people.
‘Toy Solider’ is the worst song on the album. I also don’t like the guys in ROTC they always give and the Sigma Chi guys dirty looks. Soldiers have attitudes but they might be nicer to me if they knew how good I was at Call of Duty. If I didn’t get the nickname Chug Life it would have been Sniper Balls.
‘Hot as Ice’ doesn’t make sense so of course all the Tri Delts love that song. It’s a dumb song, you can’t be hot as ice, unless it’s like how the Terminator 2 villain got killed. Terminator 2 is like one of the best movies of all time. ‘Ooh Ooh baby,’ is probably the best song for consensual relations but we are usually done by then. It’s ok. It’s no ‘Radar’ though. I mean like I rather listen to Rogan than ‘Radar,’ but it’s the best and probably only song I like for non-psychological reasons.
For my concluding paragraph (I learned about those in English Comp 1001) I would say that ‘Blackout’ is an album that has great utility. A word that Ronnie Danger Wang uses a lot, meaning like it does cool stuff for me and my Sigma Chi brothers. I don’t think the Tri Delts would hoe it up as much without the album. I have source for that: almich r on YouTube said, “Blackout is the bible of hoeness.” It is the album to drink to and have censual relations to—my favorite things in life. This “utility” helps me appreciate the album and therefore I probably am doing great in this Music Appreciation class with Dr. Naughton. I clearly am an A-level student in this class, and that should be on your radar.
