Her calm demeanor cracks, and it’s a struggle to stay in the light. She takes deep breaths, centers herself. None of the others are what you need, right now. You need her. She strips you down, runs you a bath, won’t even let you hold the washcloth. It’s only as she’s patting you dry that she can force out words, finally: “What happened to you, sweet thing, hmm?” The guilt nearly brings her to tears. Months of keeping you close and look at what just a pinch of negligence has done to you… You try to assuage her guilt. You tell her you ran into a neighbor, who’d seen the two of you out together once Patricia trusted you enough to accompany her for little things like grocery trips. You never see that neighbor again, no matter what time of day you and Patricia go walking.

Honestly the fact it's even an outbreak just makes my blood boil. Our ancestors from over the decades and even before must be rolling in their graves. They struggled to survive stuff like this until eventually we found a cure, and now we're getting it again, not because it mutated or some other disaster, but because idiots are refusing to get vaccinated. And they're acting like it's no big deal.

The measles outbreaks are getting so insanely frustrating and outrageous. It’s not just the US now. But the worst part is seeing health authorities and articles starting to adopt Covid language to describe measles. Of course it’s a logical step, but it’s just unbelievable to see something like measles talked about like it’s a normal winter illness, or to pretend that it isn’t airborne. I guess they can’t recommend airborne disease control measures for measles if they’re pretending they don’t exist for Covid. But like. What the hell.

If it’s been decades since your MMR vaccines, consider getting a titer test done to see if you still have adequate antibodies, especially if you spend time around young children. You can get a booster if your immunity has waned.

Hunter was born into No Significant Harassment's family, and is the younger sister to Nightwatcher. She and Watcher were the result of a young and unstable relationship, and their mother is not a part of their lives. Hunter never knew her mother, and NSH, being young and not ready to raise pups, was never around to care for her.

Hunter was left with Watcher to babysit throughout her childhood, though even Watcher stopped bothering to care for her when he got a girlfriend. This lead to Hunter turning to unhealthy coping mechanisms, which included the eventual cause of her rot.

Hunter eventually grew tired of the neglect and ran away from home, and started working in retail to support herself. While there, she met Gourmand, and the two became friends quickly. Gourmand told Hunter about her dreams of opening her own bakery, and Hunter showed interest in her ideas. With Hunter's support, Gourmand started her business, and hired Hunter to work with her.

One of Hunter's childhood friends, Survivor, contacted her about how she was attending college in the area next school year, and Hunter agreed to meet over dinner to catch up. The pair hit it off immediately, and Hunter worked up the courage to ask Survivor on a date, and Survivor accepted (let's go lesbians!!!). When the school year started, Survivor and her brother Monk moved in with Hunter, and the trio has been inseparable since.

Nightwatcher has attempted to get in contact with Hunter again, and try to set their relationship right, but Hunter is reluctant to forgive him.
