998: W.S.Q.
Which stands for "World Saxophone Quartet" - this is the kind of album that I'm here for. The whole reason that I'm even doing this to begin with. To expose the ears, soul, and mind to things I would otherwise not so easily stumble upon.
Essentially this album is a saxophone choir humming (and sing-screaming) only the freest of free avant-garde jazz. It's challenging but somewhat reachable - it's advanced jazz reserved for the diehards, noise-lovers, and the weird-sax-sounds enthusiasts.
Personnel includes:
Hamiet Bluiett — baritone saxophone Julius Hemphill — alto saxophone Oliver Lake — alto saxophone David Murray — tenor saxophone
As a student of jazz over here, I really enjoyed this particular assignment. I'll be thinking about this one for a while.
noteworthy tracks: Plain Song, W.s.q, Suite Music, Fast Life

Critical Thinking and Cyberfeminism - Blog #2
In regards to social media communication, what role does ‘Power’ play in our daily lives? -Power is a challenging concept when it comes to social media access and ultimately means that one group has more influence on society at the expense of another group. Who holds the power is an important question and therefore who is powerless or lacks certain advantages. Currently, power is held mostly by rich politicians, companies, and influencers that use these benefits to their advantage and systematically ignores the status of company workers or employees that creates an even larger wealth gap. Communication power can be a tool, or a weapon, that should be used to uplift unheard marginalized voices, but given its historical context this isn't the case(Fuchs, 2014, p. 7-8).
Why is Critical Thinking so important now more than ever? -Critical theory and thinking challenges the white, masculine, cisgender, and heteronormative system that surrounds how our country is governed through policies and media content. With the current high rise of social media comes an abundant amount of misinformation that can quickly spread like wildfires. These suppressive systems we live in, don't want the public questioning the information given out, which is a huge concern. Historically news and media has almost never been for the marginalized voices and instead has been used as a form of suppression to control the public opinion and sway biases. Critical thinking is more vital than ever these days because it constantly challenges the concepts of what is true and works to create equitable representation. It's a constant battle to remove the structures of domination and exploitation against marginalized communities and voices(Fuchs, 2014, p. 10-11).
How has Cyberfeminism been used to improve the lives of women globally? -Cyberfeminism is a movement that utilizes technology to fight against gender inequality and discrimination by organizing and sharing spaces with different individuals globally. Cyber feminists have created several global social movements that fight against gender inequality, for example the Revolutionary Association of Women of Afghanistan to oppose the Taliban’s cruel treatment of women's daily lives. The heightened access to the global internet has linked common experiences shared by women who face specific gender disparities based on class, race, religion and location. Ultimately cyberfeminism has advanced the feminist movements to share safe spaces and communities under the same goal of building equality for all(Daniels, 2009, p. 103-108).
What does Cyberfeminism look like for QLBT women? -Already Cyberfeminism is building safe spaces for different types of women and individuals to find commonality and build communities. Specifically regarding queer and trans women, the internet has been a huge resource to find information and a sense of community that resists the suppression of gender and sexuality identities. The global access to the internet was an extremely positive change for the trans community because it shared information on what transitioning looks like(social and medical) and how to find access in the medical field. This not only aided trans people but has helped normalize these unique experiences of gender expression and social constructs. Now in 2025 this is still the case, many trans women, including myself, go onto the internet to find our own research and shared experiences. It gives us access to talk and listen to others who have been or going through gender transition to share their experiences, expectations, and growth as people(Daniels, 2009, p. 113-115).

Week #3
Does the internet help expose the downsides of a traditional hierarchy?
Through the article, “ Rethinking Cyberfeminism”, it proposed the idea of how women can have different gender and racial norms. Our government, before only classified by two genders, was overturned due to the amount of buzz, we, as a society collectively informed the government there were more than one gender. Cyberfeminism then counteracts how society has centered around a traditional white middle class woman. They did this by advocating to be more open to different racial cultures or classes on the internet.
How should we interpret which jobs can be replaced by AI and what jobs shouldn’t be?
Following the article “automating inequality”, an article describing the story of a wife fighting against the absence of help from their new assurance. The AI system recognized a false fraud and did not allow the company to help the narrator out, even through relentless calls the people helping her behind the phone kept referring to the “system said”, rather then checking on her documents themselves. I believe some jobs such as a cashier at a fast food chain are easily replaceable with AI with little to no consequences. But, dealing with more serious jobs such as insurance, where lots of money is involved, I believe humans should still be the priority operator while AI is only used to assist them.
Does artificial intelligence do more harm or good?
With two articles including stories of the impracticality of artificial intelligence, it urges one to debate whether it is beneficial or not to society. I believe it does do more good than harm even though it can be misleading sometimes. For example, in the article “Flawed Facial Recognition Leads to Arrest and Jail for New Jersey Man”, there were two incidents mentioned where facial recognition flaws lead to wrongful arrest. Although from time to time there are errors in AI systems, I believe the benefits of it, such as collecting data and security from attackers, outweigh the mistakes it makes.
How does the lack of social understanding about AI affect the lower and middle class?
As mentioned in “Automating inequality”, the narrator explains how “poor and working-class people are targeted by new tools of digital poverty management.” This was new to me since I didn’t know there was a specific group of people being observed more frequently by AI than others. This then leads to them being the primary targets of night invasion, or invasive surveillance, which personally I did not know of, and I believe many others didn’t. The lack of general knowledge about our day to day being tracked invades our privacy and many other effects we probably can’t even determine is legal or not.

Hello again

The cycle is something that’s greatly debated on its mechanics, but essentially if you died, you would wake up the previous ‘day’, almost like a time loop, but everyone remembers their own. maybe. or you’d reincarnate as another creature. around and around it goes.
you would be stuck for a while there, in an urban jungle with a bioengineered ecosystem of monstrosities that want to eat you, not even mentioning the bone crushing rain. But reaching the top of on of the superstructures would avoid the rain and most of the wildlife.
but not all would be a pit of despiair! Some of the wildlife could be tamed, and maybe lead you to safety

Hey again! This music's nice. Thank you.
Mhm. Okay. I think I'm following, mostly. That sounds a little unpleasant though... I think I see what you mean.
Ah. So we get... eaten and bone-crushed over and over. That's fun.
Befriending the creatures, all right. I like that.
Thank you for telling me about this and for whatever it is I'm listening to right now!
Yeah? That's pretty good. Glad you think Daisuke and Swansea could tough it out.
...Maybe.
Don't understand this bit as much. I'll take your word for it.
