998: W.S.Q.
Which stands for "World Saxophone Quartet" - this is the kind of album that I'm here for. The whole reason that I'm even doing this to begin with. To expose the ears, soul, and mind to things I would otherwise not so easily stumble upon.
Essentially this album is a saxophone choir humming (and sing-screaming) only the freest of free avant-garde jazz. It's challenging but somewhat reachable - it's advanced jazz reserved for the diehards, noise-lovers, and the weird-sax-sounds enthusiasts.
Personnel includes:
Hamiet Bluiett — baritone saxophone Julius Hemphill — alto saxophone Oliver Lake — alto saxophone David Murray — tenor saxophone
As a student of jazz over here, I really enjoyed this particular assignment. I'll be thinking about this one for a while.
noteworthy tracks: Plain Song, W.s.q, Suite Music, Fast Life

Achieve Workplace Safety and Compliance: A Comprehensive Guide to Bizsafe Level-1 Certification
In today's ever-evolving business landscape, ensuring workplace safety is not only a moral obligation but also a legal necessity. One way companies in Singapore can demonstrate their commitment to safety is by attaining the Bizsafe Level-1 certification. This certification, part of the national Bizsafe programme, serves as a vital stepping stone for businesses aiming to create a safe and compliant working environment. In this guide, we’ll explore what Bizsafe Level-1 entails, why it’s essential, and how your company can achieve it.
Introduction to Bizsafe Level-1 Certification
The Bizsafe Level-1 certification is the entry point into Singapore’s well-known Bizsafe programme, spearheaded by the Workplace Safety and Health Council (WSHC). It is designed for businesses of all sizes and industries, helping them embark on a journey toward achieving a robust safety management system. Attaining Bizsafe Level 1 signifies that your business has taken the first step in committing to workplace safety by nominating a senior management representative to oversee the programme.
A company's reputation for prioritizing safety and compliance not only boosts its credibility but also protects its workers from workplace hazards. This level of certification encourages businesses to focus on improving health and safety measures from the top down, ensuring that every employee and stakeholder understands the importance of a safe working environment.
What is Bizsafe Level-1 and Why is it Important?
At its core, Bizsafe Level-1 certification is about getting the leadership of your company involved in creating a safety-conscious culture. The process begins with the appointment of a senior management representative who attends a half-day WSH Bizsafe workshop. This workshop introduces the concepts of Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) and Risk Management (RM), offering the necessary tools to develop a strategy tailored to your organization’s unique requirements.
The importance of this step cannot be overstated. Having senior management engaged in safety initiatives sends a powerful message to the rest of the company. Employees become more aware of their roles in maintaining a safe workplace, and potential clients and partners see the company as a trustworthy and responsible organization. Moreover, Bizsafe Level-1 certification is often a prerequisite for securing contracts in sectors like construction, manufacturing, and logistics, where safety regulations are stringent.
Steps to Attain Bizsafe Level-1 Certification
While the journey to achieving Bizsafe Level-1 certification may seem daunting at first, the process is relatively straightforward. Here’s a step-by-step breakdown of how to attain this certification:
Nominate a Senior Manager: As mentioned earlier, the first step is to nominate a senior manager or representative who will be responsible for overseeing workplace safety within the organization. This individual must attend a workshop conducted by the WSH Council.
Attend the Workshop: The half-day workshop covers critical elements such as the responsibilities of management in ensuring workplace safety, the basics of risk management, and the legal framework surrounding workplace health and safety in Singapore. It’s designed to equip senior managers with the skills and knowledge they need to lead their companies through the Bizsafe process.
Obtain the Certificate: After attending the workshop, your company will be awarded a Bizsafe Level-1 certificate. This is the first step in a five-level process culminates in a comprehensive safety and risk management system.
Develop a Risk Management Plan: After completing Bizsafe-1, your company will need to work towards Bizsafe Level-2, which requires developing a Risk Management Implementation Plan (RMIP). This plan should identify workplace hazards, assess risks, and implement control measures to mitigate these risks.
Conclusion
Achieving Bizsafe Level-1 certification is crucial to fostering a safe and compliant working environment. By engaging senior management in workplace safety initiatives, your company can lay the foundation for a strong safety culture, ensuring that employees, clients, and partners all benefit from reduced risks and increased trust.

Saw some footage from a weird event at Washington square park this weekend where people were clothing-optional under some sort of water feature. I can’t imagine what might compel anyone to be barefoot in water at Washington square park, which is a particularly gross location if only because last time I was there in the dead of winter, the ground was littered w hypothermic needles and empty dime bags. Also it’s only ever women with like D+ sized breasts that go topless etc at protests and these weird sort of things, which is interesting

Training, consulting services: Part of tertiary sectors its significance
The proven and effective approach of improvising the efficiency of organizational relationship building and the performance of the staff and team members is generally achieved through systematic training either by in-house training or by enrolling in a training center. This process is an effective method to bring about positive changes in an organization. Although training and consultancy services have meanings and definitions that differ theoretically, and practically they are closely related to human resources and business management.
While training can be said to bring about changes through instruction and learning where development is associated with the progress of the organization. Features of training have connections to ancient civilizations, where certain things were taught in order to achieve and accomplish the desired goals. The next phase in the evolution of training was by the method of trial and error, that is a method or strategy would be proposed and implemented to see how it works out and modifications were later brought about to correct the flaws or it would be totally removed if it work. However, this was replaced by the semi-modern era, where new training methods such as television, computers, analysis of case studies, and voluntary role-playing came into extensive usage and became actively integrated into almost all industries. The later part of the 20 century gave way to allied research topics, and then evolved team training, cross-training, and individual bespoke training.
Tumblr media
Then in the next phase, the concept of analysing the impact of training was conducted to find out if the process needed any more amendments or would be good enough to achieve the desired goals. The intention of bringing into focus this aspect was to find out how the employees who underwent training perceived and implemented the concepts taught in the training programs. Nevertheless, this new concept encouraged the gathering of information for the evaluation, of the implemented training sessions. The inclusion of cross-cultural training, individual employee bespoke training led to the framing of novel and innovative training programs which grew increasingly popular, thereby influencing the employees with the concept of lifelong learning.
Training centres like the training masters further developed these concepts into more sophisticated and advanced methodologies and meticulously framed training that offers customized training in segments like WSQ food hygiene course, people and performance management, cleaning service, effectiveness management, leadership training, and much more.

So I have seen many posts talking about how Mike and Will have shared many scenes in s5, more than Mike and El. I was a bit sceptical, but here's a list of some scenes.
Scenes that we know for sure that Mike and Will are together:
Riding their bikes with Holly
Conversation on the wsq radio station
At the farm with Robin and probably many characters more
The flashback
When the party join hands
Now this is speculation:
A scene in the hospital (idk if it was confirmed that Will was there, but Jonathan, Nancy, Joyce, Karen and Mike were)
At the Wheelers’ house (there’s a rumour that Will’s actor was filming that day, but it’s not confirmed)
Scenes that we know Mike and El are together
Their conversation at the rooftop of wsq radio
These are speculation:
The field scene (for a bts and a leak about a kiss, but idk how trustworthy it is)
Probably at the mansion, but other characters were also there, including Will.
And that’s it for now…

1. What is cyberfeminism, and how do some cyber feminists view technology’s role in gender equality?
Cyberfeminism is the idea that women can use technology, like the Internet, to resist gender inequality. Some cyberfeminists believe that technology can help break down gender and racial power structures, giving women more freedom and power.
2. How do cyberfeminists relate the concept of cyborgs to women of color?
Some cyberfeminists, like Haraway, see women of color as "cyborgs," blending human and machine in their work (such as in factories making computer chips). They argue that this mix of human and technology can be a way to challenge traditional roles and power structures.
3. What is Jessie Daniels' main argument about how women use the Internet?
Daniels argues that while some think the Internet can free people from gender and racial barriers, in reality, women and girls use the Internet in both ways: to challenge inequalities but also sometimes reinforce them. Their online experiences are complex, mixing resistance and conformity.

Blog Post Due 9/12
In what ways has technology become invasive in our personal lives? Technology brings much benefit to people at work and in life, especially in the case of people using technology in everything to make their work convenient, such as AI. However, the amount of damage technology is causing seems to be another challenge that many people are well conversant with. Smartphones and social media track location, habits, and personal information often without consent or proper awareness by an individual. This can then be used for better targeting of advertisements, or even for surveillance. With constant connectivity, the boundary between personal and professional life gets blurred, thus constituting it to several issues such as an imbalance in work-life. What are some potential risks of using AI in the management of marginalized groups?
Several risks might be associated with the managing of marginalized groups by AI affecting privacy, whereby there would be a need for data collection leading to misuse of personal information. Humanizing machines will create a risk that will lead to serious psychological problems for many people in the future when they are aware of data leakage, attack, and theft risks. When applying AI, consideration should be given to ensuring that a step of processing can be transparent to keep every process of information processing secure.
How are racial biases in technology?
Technology is seldom neutral, and that is usually not the case. The video "Race and Technology" by Nicole Brown teaches that technology reflects already existent racial biases. She claims that the algorithms and data systems reinforce stereotypes of racial inequalities through systemic discrimination. She also goes out of her way to make sure that one of the solutions in place for how racial biases can be mitigated in technology is diversified so that a wider array of perspectives is considered in development.
How does digital activism affect feminist activism and social movement?
Digital platforms have reshaped how feminist activism and social movements can be organized, mobilized, and raised awareness. A few concerns emanate further from the use of digital platforms are surveillance and online harassment.

Blog Post #3
What is the overall purpose of Cyberfeminist?
Cyberfeminist has a lot of purposes as the Jesse Daniels paper "Rethinking Cyberfeminism: Race, Gender and Embodiment" says it can be many things like debates and theories all "'...about the relationship between gender and digital culture..."(Daniels,102). Cyberfeminist gives us a door to start conversations about the different experiences that genders have within the digital world. Gender no longer just goes through issues in the real world however they now go through issues online too.

Blog Post #3
How does our dependence on technology affect us in our basic day to day lives including our health, finances, and overall well being?
Our reliance on technology can affect our day to day activities in many ways. One single server maintenance or a crash can change the way we pay for our groceries, fast food and sometimes even our bills. For example, the software update from Crowdstrike paralyzed the online paying aspect for many stores like Chipotle. In the example of the reading, Technology played against the author and their partner by flagging their medical expenses as fraud even though Jason had suffered an accident. Our dependence on technology can have a severe impact on the quality of life if there is a more impactful outage.
How does technology help margianlize minorities in our society?
A great example that was given in this weeks reading was how a Republican governor from Maine released false information regarding families who recieved cash benefits from TANF. He suggested that these families recieved the money and would later spend it on alcohol, cigarrettes and buying lottery tickets. Analyzing the transactions, they concluded that .03% of the 1.1 million that was withdrawn was used for these purchases. Maine would later enact a bill that required families to retain their reciepts from 12 months for state audits. This shows how different forms of technology was used to spread misinformation, make it harder for families to recieve government benefits, and increase the margin between the rich and poor.
How do technological advancements create a negative impact on our society?
I believe technological advancements can play a big role in our society that can improve our quality of life but can also create inequality. In this weeks reading, we go over a case where a person was wrongfully jailed for a crime that happened 30 miles away where he was at. Thanks to facial recognition police officers arrested Nijeer Parks on a crime he did not commit and was jailed 10 days. 3 other cases of wrongful detainment with the facial recognition technology happened which only affected black men. These incidents can create a negative impact on our society and a distrust with our justice system based on a overdependence on these sorts of techonologies.
How has technology helped feminist create equality?
A great example that was given in a reading was how people often mention that feminism is for white, affluent women but this reading shows how feminism is for everyone and also mentions that even those in developing countries have a greater online presence than men. Technological advancements on the Internet help bolster their promotion of equality and also as a great medium in communication.

Blog Post due 9/12
How does the idea of escaping physical bodies online connect with real-life issues of race and gender, and what are its weaknesses?
The idea of escaping physical bodies online suggests avoiding the usual problems related to race and gender when interacting on the internet. However, this idea has weaknesses because race and gender issues don’t disappear online.
For example, in pro-ana communities, discussions about body image often ignore racial differences, even though race can affect how people experience and talk about eating disorders. Similarly, transgender communities online might find support and resources, but they still face racial biases. This shows that race and gender issues are still present in digital spaces despite the idea that the internet might be where these issues are left behind.
How do people in pro-ana and transgender online communities both challenge and follow traditional gender and racial norms?
People in pro-ana and transgender communities use the internet in ways that both challenge and follow old gender and racial norms.
In pro-ana communities, people share tips and support for eating disorders, which can challenge traditional views by creating a space for discussion. But they also follow harmful standards of beauty, often based on thin, white ideals. This means that while they might challenge some norms, they also reinforce others.
In transgender communities, the internet helps people find information and support for transitioning, which challenges traditional gender norms. However, the available information often reflects existing biases and medical standards, which might not be fully inclusive or supportive. While these online communities can be empowering, they reflect and sometimes reinforce traditional stereotypes.
What happens if we don’t consider race when discussing how the internet affects identity?
If we ignore race when discussing how the internet affects identity, we miss the important aspects of people's experience of digital spaces.
For example, in pro-ana communities, not considering race means missing out on how racial background can influence someone’s experience with eating disorders. In Bryson’s study of transgender communities, not considering race means overlooking how some people face extra challenges or exclusion online because of their race. This shows that understanding race is essential to fully grasp how online spaces work and how they reflect real-world issues.
How do automated systems in social services make life more complicated for poor and working-class communities, and what can we do to make these systems fairer?
Automated systems in social services, like welfare or housing, often make things more difficult for poor and working-class people. These systems use data and algorithms to decide who gets help, but they can be unfair because they are developed by using past information that may be biased against marginalized groups. For example, if certain neighborhoods or groups were mistreated, the system would continue to treat them the same way, labeling them as "risky" or less deserving of help.
These automated systems sometimes make decisions based on patterns in data, which can lead to people being unfairly denied access to resources. It's also hard to challenge these decisions since the systems are sometimes transparent, meaning people can't easily understand or contest why they were denied help.
To make these systems fairer, we must ensure they are transparent and regularly checked for bias. This can be done through audits to see if certain groups are unfairly treated. It’s also essential to involve people from affected communities in designing these systems to meet the real needs of the people using them. Finally, human oversight should be included to ensure decisions are made with care and fairness, not just by a computer.
