I'm here to talk Between Us. Or well. To say that I can't talk about Between Us. I don't have time right now, and will be busy tomorrow as well. But you can be damn sure I'll be back on Tuesday to scream about it. For now, here's something I noticed.

This scene? I'm pretty sure the subtitles are wrong.

What I think Tul said was "Phi (you) smell good" or "sniffing you" something like that.

I'm by NO means an expert and everything I've learnt is purely from observation and some from a little research. If you are an expert, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Also, I wanna thank all those blessed souls who have already made gifs of ep 12. You are literal heaven sent. I love you.

Oh PS while I'm in a talkative mood; I'm legit so irritated with incorrect subtitles that I'm turning them off lately. 🙃🙃 I'm not deaf/HOH so I notice when there are wrong transcriptions, because apparently paying someone minimum wage to proofread the auto transcription is too expensive or something. I don't even want to say it's AI because AI would be able to tell when a wrong transcription doesn't make any sense... But MY GOD subtitles are wrong so often! I shouldn't be catching stuff like 3-5 times every episode! I just feel like I can't even trust them anymore. If there's something I really don't understand, I'll go back and see the subtitles then and just hope they're correct, but otherwise I've been keeping them off. (Btw this is when I watch TV alone in my room; if I'm with others in a living room then I would still keep them on I think. But would still be annoyed lol.)

How can this be okay? Deaf/HOH people won't know that something is transcribed wrong... And I've seen incorrect subtitles that literally make the sentence have the opposite meaning!! More than once! Not cool y'all!!!

If there's some petition I can sign or some kind of action going on to get streaming services to not essentially discriminate against deaf/HOH people, let me know...

ze dwa lata temu w czasie świąt na tvp polonia leciało ogniem i mieczem i przez to ze to tvp polonia tam zawsze są napisy polskie, ale tym razem puszczony tekst nie zgrał sie z filmem - zamiast tego ewidentnie napisy były do jakiegoś gangsterskiego filmu. czy byłbyś/aś/oś zaintersowany/a/o zdjęciami tego masterpiece?

The *real* problem, Celebrimbor decides, is just that they're too similar. Really, it was inevitable. Two powerful, ambitious, mysterious Ainuric beings? They were bound to come into conflict. It's not any deeper than that– not some great conflict between good and evil, not something with any real stakes. Just some silly rivalry that he's found himself in the middle of.

At least. That's what he tells himself. Because that's the explanation that lets him dismiss Elrond's increasingly dire warnings about Annatar. Because that's the explanation that lets him ignore the way Annatar looks at Elrond– with something like fear, or even worse, something like hunger.

But also because if he imagines that Elrond and Annatar are not so different from each other, he can make sense of both of them. Because Annatar's late night conversations about the "perfection" of Middle-Earth always make his spine shiver, but Elrond has spoken of similar things before, and Celebrimbor has never had reason to fear him. Because Elrond is often strange, often just beyond Celebrimbor's grasp, and it makes him feel better when Annatar promises that it's only posturing, only Elrond trying to seem more Ainuric than he really is. Wouldn't you do the same, with blood like that? Annatar says with a twisting grin.

He wants, badly, to believe they're the same. He wants, badly, to believe they're both harmless.

To be fair, on the last point, he only ends up being half-wrong.
