OBSIDIAN: A Black Womanist Writers Collective. 💗✍🏿💗

All NYC - based Black women, femmes and nonbinary writers, artists and critical scholars are welcome to apply.

The chosen members of this cohort will meet for one year (Sept 2023 - Sept 2024) for writing sessions, workshops, field trips and fun social gatherings.

Together we will co-create a book project that will be published by the museum in 2024!! 🎉

For those of you looking to grow your writing practice and/or be a part nurturing writer’s community, this is the space for you!!!

With only a couple weeks left in 2016, I've been reminiscing on the year that was (this #throwbackthursday moment was a major highlight) and looking forward to 2017. The always insightful Bob Goff suggests quitting something on Thursdays, an idea I've always loved but struggled to do in practice. I've decided that quitting can also include the mindsets and ways of thinking that have held us back in the past. Today I'm quitting dreaming without doing (for now). I have the tendency of having too many big ideas and in the process finding myself unable to properly execute on any of them. Quitting then, means a move towards the execution of one dream at a time. A prioritization of action. Decluttering the world around us is great, but if you're anything like me, sometimes the most decluttering needed is in the space between our ears. // #socality #writerscollective #explorealberta
