The Nights of the Nest
You are not unaware that I play mainly at Nest on Paris 3, twice a week, it is a bar and shop held by Nils.

After a few evening events there and the recent release of their superb site uploaded by Helena we must here preach the good word!
Well, without lying, the Nest is friendly and spacious (soon no longer seen the world haha), it feels like home, surrounded by very good players and enthusiasts. I had to suggest to Nils to make rooms at the top story that we do not have to leave it anymore. The Nest eh ... not Nils, finally in my case: p.
Short, Micha (which you all know now) was hired there a few months ago to develop the event and the shop. Well, I can tell you that he really spoiled us with the following events:

A memorable evening made of meetings and reunions (Ian ♥). For my part, I bought the illustration of Maeva (alias Misdawho divides his time between television and board games. The illustrations were beautiful, we would have wanted to buy everything.
The nest certainly spoils us!
For this end of the year, Le Nid offers: a Bruno Faidutti party on December 3rd and a Big Book of madness evening on December 17th.
Micha already preparing the events of 2016, he promises you:
of the wild parties with tournaments : Splendor, 7 wonders, rail adventurers (SPLENDOR ♥♥♥♥ with my 200 games on iPhone, if I lose, I will really be ashamed !!!) evenings new before and after Cannes Games Festival (festival where we will be) of the openings where you will have to come without a wallet (especially if Maeva is still here)! Do not hesitate to contact Micha or the nest if you have special requests whether you are players, publishers, associations or other. (Besides, I have one ... the sandwiches ... it's not only for Tuesday: p)

The Nest will also propose vouchers for Christmas. A loyalty card is already available. In short, everything is set up little by little for the greatest pleasure of the players.

X Wing (FFG / Edge)

As many people know, I won a basic box of the X-Wing game on the blog of Mister Zombi who was organizing a competition with Figurines & Fantasy
Undergoing certain lack of time, I asked VMazuka, met at LudiNord, if he, a fan of the game, wanted to write an article in exchange for the game. He accepted because his little boy loves the game and wants him to have his basic box.
(Number of parts performed : about thirty, with the basic game and most extensions). It's been a long time since I walked in a galaxy far, far away ...
It was in CP. Where can be in CE1. It does not matter. The whole class was excited: as every holiday eve we were taken to the big room on the first floor of the school. The back wall was painted white. This room allowed to see movies. Yes, movies, real, with reels and a projector. Magic, for a kid of the early 80s. That day, many fell in love with a universe. Many were speechless in front of lightsaber fights. Many shuddered when Luke plunged into the Death Star trench. Many felt scared when they saw Darth Vader and his Stormtroopers.
That day, many discovered Star Wars.
I of course saw the other two films, at the cinema this time. Then I saw them again, in VHS. Then on DVD. I played for hours with friends in the school yard. In college it did not work out because I discovered the practice of role playing, first and foremost that of the Star wars, edited by Descartes. I played smugglers, pilots, jedi. I flew a lot of ships. Traveled dozens of planet. Lived unforgettable adventures.
I will not even talk about video games, toys, various goodies, comics or novels of the extended universe, because otherwise we would spend hours there.
All that to say that I am not only a fan of this universe, I feel a little like at home.
But do not get me wrong. This attraction for Star Wars do not make me a consumer blindly buying anything and everything.
On the contrary, I am rather difficult to convince.

Before discovering X-Wing, only two things had grace in my eyes about Star Wars: movies and role play.
Two years ago, when I saw the first news about a Star Wars board game, with miniatures, published by FFG, I did not even notice. A licensed game? I was bound to be disappointed. Extra figurines to redeem? I am not a cash cow (I gave with my Magic period). A game edited by FFG? Ameritrash, very little for me (I like management games in the European style).
A few months later, a friend released the game and convinced me, with difficulty, to make one. Like that, just to see.
An hour later, the charm had worked. Without realizing it, I was already addicted.
The first thing that seduced me was equipment. of the ship figurines well carved, nicely painted, very detailed, with which we immediately want to play. All accompanied by cards pilots, damage and improvements, as well as dials orders, moving templates, a range rule, and a profusion of chips various. The basic box, which contains a hunter X-Wing and two Tie, is already full. But if you plan to acquire other vessels afterwards, I highly recommend investing in a briefcase Type 216 transport, with foams specially cut to accommodate your figurines, as well as all the equipment that goes with it.
The mechanics of the game is simple : we secretly program his movement, then we do an action and shoot. It reminds a little Blue Max (Wings of glory in VF), a game released in the 80s, which simulated dogfight fighting in the framework of the First World War. Big advantage of X-Wing compared to Blue Max: the presence of movement templates, avoiding the tedious use of hexagons.
Two levels of difficulty are proposed:
A "family" version for beginners and young children The "normal" version (more complete, but still very accessible)
The game is nervous, fluid, very tactical : What movement to make, knowing that some maneuvers can stress the driver ? Which action to privilege knowing that we have only one by turn? Will we focus to improve the draw of the dice in attack or defense? or put the enemy in his sighting computer to swing him a swarm of missiles later ? Or do a looping escape from an opponent too urgent? It will take both well pilot, but also know how to take advantage of the strengths of its vessels (An Imperial shuttle does not offer the same benefits as a Tie interceptor).
The theme is really well respected: all the characteristics of the ships are transcribed within the game: the TIE are agile and fragile at the same time, X-Wing are more powerful and have shields, the imperial shuttle blurs the transmissions of the enemy ships, the Y-Wing can be equipped with an ion gun ... We find the stars of the saga among the pilots of the ships, as well as in the maps used to improve the hunters. Luke is protected by the Force, Han Solo is an ace of shooting, R2D2 can help us make in-flight repairs ... We feel driving sensations very different depending on the chosen vessels. A Tie does not pilot himself like the Millenium Falcon, who himself does not pilot himself like a B-Wing ...
The life of the game is quite phenomenal, by the variety of configurations and choices offered. Variety at the level of the choice of ships (several tens are available, in addition to the basic game). But also variety at the level of the drivers, some with special features to make them stand out. Variety finally in the ability to customize each ship with Droids, co-drivers, modifications or additional weapons ...
There is an infinity of combinations possible to build his squadron: we try to find the best combinations of pilots / vessels / improvements possible, while having to respect the fateful bar of the 100 points. Because of course, the more powerful an item, the more expensive it is. There is in X-Wing a small side deck preparation way Magic The Gathering, and it's very pleasant.
Conclusion : you'll understand, I like this game. And I will advise any self-respecting Star Wars fan, whether he's a confirmed player or not. It's beautiful, accessible, nice to play. It's a bit expensive, but given the quality of the game and the equipment offered, it is really worth the money. A very nice success, beside which I almost passed, victim of my a priori!

Space Origin Alpha 3: first assessment
Where do we start when we are convinced that we are holding one of the best browser games?
Introduction
I was first drawn to sympathy of this group of friends Many live together, their union strikes immediately. The good atmosphere and the board games form an ideal picture. But, it's not just that! We must not have done St Cyr to quickly understand that this good atmosphere rhymes with a serious and ambitious work because the Alpha 3 of Space Origin (of his little name) perfectly demonstrates their determination.
Recall
let's remember that Space Origin is a browser game developed so by this team of talented young people who put their savings and all their time into this project colossal. They then allowed themselves to apply for a financial contribution, via Ulule, to players who wanted to show their growing interest in this game. In exchange for key access to the test phases, badges, honors in games and qq Pulsars (currency in game), the participants were generous. It must be admitted that, for a project not very visible, to gather more than 3,000 euros for a hundred supporters is impossible.
I speak of little visibility because Space Origin has not yet launched the marketing machine (phase dev requires) so the first community was formed first around their Twitter account and website.
Features open to Alpha 3
So here I am with my key for the Alpha 3 to participate in the tests of this game spatial. The alpha 3 includes (of what I could discover in two evenings of game, because I think that the list is not complete):
3 breeds with different characteristics (I think these are the 3 final races) 2 planets (out of 11 if I'm not mistaken) a number of kilometers amazing (figure to ask) the construction from its base on one of the 2 planets proposed the construction of several buildings having their particularity (production of resources, exploration, construction of vessels, diplomacy, trade ...) and even better each building can be upgraded to produce + etc ... and their physical appearance can change depending on the level of their improvement. the ability to attack and defend against the resource raiders (put your mikrons / ships in defensive mode before leaving the game is good advice: p) a chat, a tutorial and an messaging (information message, fight message, leader's message)by the way talking about the tutorial written by my dear ActarusLePrinceit's enough to get started. the profile (including its global ranking and ranking on its planet, avatar, level, point xp, description ...). forum also available on the Space Origin website You will understand, the alpha 3 is furiously provided and each player was pleasantly surprised by the little bug encountered. No bug is blocking so we can play without having to wait for a fix, which is priceless, believe me.
So I chose the race of Aldéides and the planet F.
We start this first article (already very long) with 5 features :
1 - Building my base called GLStation (Station: OK p I have not been looking far)
The tutorial guides you in the beginning on how you can build the priority buildings / mines and then you get started to improve them and create new ones.
Each building has its features and function as well as several levels of improvement. The resources produced by the mines make it possible to build buildings / vessels.
As you can see, I did not pay much attention to the positioning of my buildings so it's not very coherent or pretty LOL. I hope to move them ... without cost gniarkkk
2 - Exploration Exploration drones are sent to the planet to discover the environment & the basics of other players. I send my drones whenever I can, but I understood a little late that a drone could explore 4 neighborhoods at the same time (have to read eh in Space Origin because nobody will do it for you). The drones thus make it possible to widen your horizon. I just discovered that we could search areas once explored ... (ok ok, have to start well)
The following screens make it possible to realize the surface of the planet, in other words: incalculable.
3 - Attack / Defense The natives, discovered by the exploration with the tutorial, make it possible to train us to attack or to defend us. Then the exploration then allows to discover the neighboring bases of the other players. You can send your ships looting the neighbors by choosing which resources you are looking for the most.
For 2 attacks made 2 were successful because the opponent bases were not protected. When you leave the game, think about forming your defense with your ships. The attacks are launched with the desired ships and the desired formation. On the other hand, it takes between 20 and 50 minutes for the bases are close (the time to your ships to move), for others count much more time of course. The improvement of some buildings allows ships to be faster. For an attack received when I was in the game, I won 50% that is to say that I was looted anyway arffff For an attack received in my absence without planning to put my ships in defense, there I was looted MDR In case of partial or total defeat, one of your buildings is able to transform the trash (not yet tested) but rest assured, we do not take everything, that's what's good in Space Origin too. If you are going to work all day, your base may have been looted a bit (we will say 10% of your resources will be lost) but you will not lose any buildings or improvements. On the other hand, it is up to you to put your resources in a safe place (armored shed).
4 - Profile & Ranking
When you click at the bottom left of your avatar window, the profile is displayed with your level, your XP points number, your description, your rank ... Speaking of the rank, you have a trophy icon always at the bottom left , and this one displays the first 4 players of each category for each planet or in the whole universe of Space Origin.
5 - Messaging
Messaging has 4 elements:
combat messaging global messaging for your activity email alerts (chef spoke) small popups on the right of the screen that appear and disappear (they are the same messages as in the global messaging) First report
- no blocking bug for this Alpha - beautiful game - many features - I find the same feelings that I have when playing Sim City (huge compliment) - very satisfied with the ratio of addiction / playing time (the game is addictive but we are quickly overtaken by the lack of resources) - the game is intuitive and the tutorial enough to start alone - strong appreciation of building / vessel improvements - a little empty exploration on Fahrenheit but it's the planet that wants that I think, there are places where bits of ships seem to be abandoned ... suspenssssssssss - speaking of exploration, I hope we can find objects used for crafting. - Haste to test the buildings diplomacy, market & technology - I hope the possibilities will be many when we lack resources (because apart from exploring and preparing our next moves we are frustrated) - to several thousand players, will the planets not be overpopulated? I do not think so, the "playing field" looks so gigantic.
A conclusion good for a game that I clearly thought not successful. Little secretaries! The game is beautiful, fluid, intuitive, sober and addictive as it should. A management game particularly appreciated. I would even say that in board game it would cardboard just as much !!
I wish him a French success then world. (Where are the Space Origin polo shirts? Yes, because t shirts are ugly and we're not going to do like everyone else)
