My Thoughts On ABC’s Schedule & The Writers Strike
I really wanted to talk about this after ABC released their fall strike-proof schedule yesterday, but I thought it was best to wait and get my thoughts together.
First off, you have every right to be annoyed and mad that there’s a good possibility we will not get Season 6 until January.  I am.  And even though I’m annoyed by the schedule, I actually half expected it and it was honestly the right decision.  With everything up in the air and at a standstill at the moment, I would much rather have schedule with the worst-case scenario and with breathing room than one that gives false hope.  It does not mean the schedule is permanent.  I don’t know this for sure, obviously, but I’m more than willing to bet that if the strike ends by mid-July or early August, ABC will release an updated schedule with scripted shows premiering in late October or early November.  Yeah, we won’t get as many episodes in the fall as usual, but at least we would not have to wait until January.
Secondly, about the strike itself.  I know it’s easy and your first instinct is probably to blame the networks for not paying the writers, but it’s not just them.  It’s also (and largely) the studios that produce and create shows and movies that are the problem (Disney, Paramount, NBC Universal, Amazon, etc.).  They are both a part of the AMPTP.
So be annoyed and angry and support and stand with the WGA in their fight to get what they deserve, but please focus and point that anger at ALL the right people.

If a movie/show is badly written 90% of the time it’s because studios asked for revisions that made the project worse or had excessively tight deadlines.
Or asked a complete project to continue another decade. Or writers were promised 22 episodes and got 10. Like so much bad writing is the fault of studio execs fucking things up and writers rolling with the punches as best they can.
I want to enjoy movies and shows again, and a big part of that is having writers rooms that have time to make a good story and writers who aren’t too busy trying to figure out what combination of coupons means they can eat and pay rent that month to write anything good.

Walt Disney Pictures VFX Employees Take Steps Toward Unionization.
VFX crews at Walt Disney Studios have taken a significant stride towards unionization by submitting their application to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) for an election to unionize. Over 80% of the in-house VFX crew members at Walt Disney Pictures have signaled their intent to unionize by signing authorization cards, marking a historical moment in the industry. A landmark development,…

The WAG and SAG are striking. VFX/CGI workers can't because there's no union for such an international field.
So many skills, forms of goods, media, etc are international in these times.
We need international unions.

Human’s Striking 4 A Decent Living!
Why hasn’t anyone protest against some of these greedy landlords? These greedy landlords are the cause of so many people not being able to afford to even be able to live payday to payday. I call this price gouging!!!
Who are these landlords? Who is really buying our American real estate? And why? Every time a group goes on strike, a big percentage of the reason is because those in the group cannot afford rent.
Whoever is buying our American real estate is bringing down American businesses. Employers are being blamed for their employees not being able to afford rent, when it is really the greedy landlords that are the fault for many of our homelessness.
We are losing our American way of life. From small business, to affordable housing, even some of our corporations can’t afford rent.
For many, the answer is to build new affordable housing that will likely not be affordable. There seems aplenty of places that are now for lease and rent that sit empty due to the monthly rent rate. So why built more to just sit empty? Make laws against rent greed...which I call price gouging!!!

PLEASE infodump about drake
okok this is specific to the drake/kendrick drama but i can also do a drake one too - im assuming you know basically nothing. & i barely know this shit so correct me if im wrong. also this will be routinely updated so! check in :D
2011 - Take Care (album) by Drake features Kendrick Lamar on the track Buried Alive Interlude
2012 - Drake has Kendrick open for his Club Paradise Tour. The same year they both feature on A$AP Rocky's song Fuckin Problems (also with 2 Chainz)
2013 - Kendrick called out a few rappers (J. Cole, Pusha T, Big Sean, etc.) including Drake. Drake responds saying he had no response, basically. They do this again the same year (Kendrick says shit, Drake doesnt respond)
2016 (ish) - They continue subtle beef (Kendrick saying Drake has ghost writers, Drake saying Kendrick "sold out")
2023 - First Person Shooter by Drake and J. Cole drops (their first collab since 2013). In the song Drake mentions "the big three" in reference to himself, J. Cole, and Kendrick
2024, Mar. - Like That by Metro Boomin' and Kendrick Lamar drops. In it Kendrick responds to Drake, saying "the big three ... it's just big me", implying that Kendrick is above Drake and J. Cole. Drake attempts to ban Like That from the radio.
2024, Apr. - Push Ups by Drake is released. The song is about how Drake believes Kendrick is being extorted - the track referencing the phrase "drop and give me 50".
2024, Apr. - Taylor Made Freestyle by Drake is released, his second diss track at Kendrick. Here Drake disses Kendrick for "selling out" specifically in reference to Bad Blood by Taylor Swift ft. Kendrick Lamar. Drake also used AI vocals of Snoop Dogg and Tupac - this resulted in him almost being sued by Tupac's Estate. Drake wiped the song from his sites
2024, Apr. - Euphoria by Kendrick Lamar is released. The track is 6 minutes long, cut down from its original 19 minutes. The title is in reference to the TV series Euphoria which Drake is an executive producer of - it's also referencing the sexualisation of underage people, something done by the show and (allegedly) Drake himself. Within the track Kendrick makes fun of Drakes accent, how Drake says the n-word, how Drake dresses... and a fuck load more
2024, May. - 6:16 in LA by Kendrick Lamar releases, less than 72 hours after Euphoria dropped. This track specifically disses Drake for having ghost writers/lots of co-writers. He also implies that Drakes friends are stabbing him in the back and selling his info. This track is co-produced by Jack Antonoff, who co-writes and co-produces for Taylor Swift.
2024, May. - Family Matters by Drake is released. I want to be honest with you, i didn't listen to this until i got this ask. This track implies Kendrick beats his wife. Drake also disses other rappers such as A$AP Rocky, Future, etc.
2024, May. - Drake releases a Buried Alive Interlude Parody on his Instagram
2024, May. - Meet the Grahams by Kendrick Lamar is released. In this track (which is by far my favourite of all the tracks) Kendrick calls Drake a deadbeat dad and accuses Drake of having another secret child (apart from Adonis). Kendrick has a verse dedicated to this supposed child in which he basically parents her - teaching her all the things Drake wont. He also implies Drake struggles with alcohol and gambling
2024, May. - Not Like Us by Kendrick Lamar is released. The fourth diss track from Kendrick. In this track Kendrick alleges that there's pedophiles and trafficking within OVO (an indie record label founded by Drake). Kendrick also says that every rapper who's complimented Drake is lying and now hates him for using Tupac's vocals through AI. This track includes my favourite line "Tryna stike a chord and it's probably A-Minor"

I was sort of satisfied with the s3 ending cause the emotionally it was great, and I guess I can say that I love part 2 better, cause more interesting things happened and both Bridgerton and Featherington family dynamics was adorable. But let me just be a whiny bitch one last time and tell you that splitting season is a bloody awful idea and writers definitely knew this gonna happen while working. Which probably explains why Polin felt rushed: they needed to leave people on smth exciting, so they speed up everything to the carriage scene. And that's fine, no big deal. But the thing is, that when you start to look closely at part 2, you see so many ooc behaviors and details that contradict to part 1, that I couldn't help but wonder, if they had a huge time gap between writing two parts. Like literally feels like as if stike happened in a middle of creating the script and they didn't touched it for months (which is not the case as far as I'm aware). Or as if the whole writers room was reorganized (which i doubt).

Hi!
I saw your post about the one piece tab, and the reason why I and some others are against it is because it's Tumblr making a very clear message about what side they're on when it comes to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
The one piece live action series is made by Netflix, which is one of the struck companies. Netflix are essentially paying Tumblr to do the advertising and promotion, because the actors and the writers can't promote it while they are on stike.
By having this promotional tab, Tumblr as a company are crossing the picket line, and saying that they are on the side of the AMPTP (the studios) and not on the side of the struggling writers and actors that are currently on strike for a fair deal.
I know this isn't the only reason why people don't like the tab, and also a lot of people aren't following the strikes as closely. But it is a reason why some people are mad about it!
(I promise this isn't anything against your post, I just wanted to explain one perspective on it)
ah see now this hasnt actually been mentioned anywhere in any of the complainy posts i've seen, this would make their anger make sense but all they're doing is complaining about it being 'unavoidable ads' and 'pushy advertising' both of which are nothing to do with the strikes and both of which are also incorrect.
they're not unavoidable, you can just choose to not click the tab, and they're not pushy because they're not forcing you to go there.

Quick reminder today on a quick way to support the writers on strike. Open Netflix or whatever platform you're on and watch something. The writers get very very small residuals but they still get residuals. Which is money to pay their bills while they are on strike. Increase their budget for stiking with a Netflix binge on your day off. There literally isn't an easier strike to help with. I know there are more ways to help. But I wanted to share this one because I have a feeling that 99% of people can get a Netflix login from somewhere that will see this post and can help in a small way

I'm so thankful for ALL fanfiction writers, especially now. If people are bemoaning the loss of shows or movies, all we have to do is open AO3, and there are thousands of stories to feast upon! Most written better that what finally airs (though I definitely support the writer's strike). All it takes is our imagination to bring stories to life, especially harringrove. (get wrecked duffelbags)
I agree. I am grateful to show writers (and definitely support their stike), because the shows gives us excellent source material to create fanfics and fanart and fanworks out of.
It's two different kinds of writing, I think. I have never tried to write for anything that will be aired, but I imagine it to be a lot less free than fanfiction is. Which sucks for those writers, but hey, they get paid instead so it evens out. But fanfiction? Fanfiction is free - not just to read and enjoy (thankfully) but also to CREATE. There is so much freedom in writing fanfiction. Literally no rules. If you wanna write a fic where Billy is a flight attendant and Steve is a bird who falls in love with him through the plane's window, you CAN. You can do ANYTHING, and I think that's goshdarn amazing.
I will watch a show once, maybe twice. Movies I might watch more times than that, for the entertainment value. But once I've gotten the general hang on things, if I like the thing enough? I'll go to fandom for the rest of my experience. Because I ususally latch onto one particular character, or a certain situation or something, and want MORE of that particular thing. And the source material, as it is, cannot give me that.
And the thing is, that all of us may want more of different things. And the glory of the matter is, that fandom can provide all those things (and if it's not there already, well a bunch of us will just roll up our shirtsleeves and be like 'fuck it then I'll do it myself'). And that's what I meant about stories not having to be good. It doesn't matter who is better. It doesn't matter what is "good" or "mediocre" writing (because honestly, there are so many different styles to use when writing, too, and what one person finds good, another may not. Taste differs, as it should). The important thing is that it's there. And it's for everyone.
Popular or unpopular writer doesn't matter. "Good" writer or "mediocre" writer doesn't matter. A new writer, or an experienced one. More hits or less hits, more kudos or less kudos. None of it matters, really. I've read fics that I absolutely adored that are stuck with like two comments after four years on the archive. But someone wanted that particular fic enough to write it. And I get to enjoy it, and love it, for free, years later. That's beautiful.
Like, if you're craving a burger, you don't want a three-course meal. You don't care about Michelin stars or how it's plated or how many cooking shows the chef has been on. You crave a burger. And if you get that burger at the greasy joint on the corner, where every surface is sticky for some reason and the air smells like cigarette smoke, then you don't care about that. At least you have your burger - and chances are, it's just what you craved.
Thank you, to every writer. To the mediocre writers, the writers writing in a language that isn't their own, the published writers, the show writers, the slow writers, the popular writers, the unpopular writers, the unhinged writers, the self-indulgent writers, the writers who can't finish their WIPs, the writers with a schedule, the writers who keep their readers hanging. Thank you to everyone.
You're all someone's greasy burger.

Stranger Things Season 5 production has come to a halt.
Cobra Kai Season 6 has no episodes scripted.
Blade production has come to a halt.
House of Dragon Season 2 production and writing has come to a halt.
I feel like what's truly going determine how long this writer's stike last before all the major Hollywood studios cave is just how long will companies like Netflix and Disney be willing to delay or push back the release date for all there key shows and movies.
Because unfortunately right now the odds are in the studio's favor. Netflix's model of releasing new seasons for their shows a year apart from each other is working in their favor. Every now and then they might drop a new season of a show back-to-back, but most of the time fans have to wait a year. Which means no was expecting new seasons of shows like You, Outer Banks, or even Cobra Kai until either late 2024 or 2025. And the CEO has already came out to say they have enough content to last for the rest of the year.
Same thing goes for HBO Max and shows like House of Dragon and The Last of Us no one is expecting these shows to come back till sometime next year.
Disney already has a backlog with them deciding not to release Echo or Ironheart this year. Both shows are theorized to make their debut sometime next year. Along with Percy Jackson and all of these shows finished production quite sometime ago, so its unlikely they will need rewrites. Disney might start feeling the pressure when it comes down to giving the writers what they want, or pushing back then entire 2024 MCU movie slate. Apparently Captain America 4 is still in production, but might suffer some setbacks in case any edits are needed. Then there's the Thunderbolts keep in mind Disney has already had to change the dates of these movies once.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 got MCU fans back on the same page and hype again for what's coming. The last thing Disney needs is to have to push stuff back which will run the risk of fans losing interest because of having to wait too long.
When its time for the big shows to come back on TV, but they can't make the fall premiere because the writers strike is still going on. The studios will start rethinking then but its absolutely bull**** that things even got this far if you ask me.
PAY THE FREAKING WRITERS!!!!! THEY DESERVE IT!!!!!

Did you read about the writers stike and that PD is postboned till January? What came to your mind when you read it?
The writer's strike is keeping everything up in the air right now.
To the best of my knowledge, ABC is the only network that has shifted their shows and seasons already. I haven't had any reports of NBC doing that for OC/L&O. It wouldn't shock me if they do that though... But I think they are waiting to see how things pan out.
The writers deserved to be paid what they want - I don't know all the logistics going into this strike, but seeking even compensation shouldn't be hard. Especially when there is tons of $$$$ in the networks.
