Like... there is a difference between seeing something problematic and changing it, and completely overcorrecting..stop neutralizing all of these very well written character development beats. Stop being afraid for your characters to have FLAWS that they confront/are confronted about, and overcome. STOP NEUTRALIZING CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT.

Sokka was sexist but it was a learned, societal view placed on him as the ONE remaining boy who was over the age of 5 in a village with no men because of a war!! That is important to his character! And he gets humbled EARLY on in the first season. He gets his ass kicked by a girl in a village run by warrior women, and his sister also never puts up with his shit.

That is part of his ARC.

Do writers not know what an arc is anymore?? Can we not have nuanced characters who start in a not perfect state and progress, unlearn and become better people by the end?? Having a character LEARN something is a part of storytelling, and part of what makes a character compelling, this is literature 101.

My god what are they going to do to Zukos arc? Is he going to still be a catty, pouty little grouch in the first season..???

I'm just— i geniunely dont know what to say about Doom Patrol (2019). in less than 10 episodes this show has saved me in ways i can't even begin to put into words, like. On a narrative level this show is— revolutionary doesn't even begin to cover it, it's a fucking bone breaking experience and so, so real. Like i know that people love to refer to Doom Patrol as THEE found family show, but it's so so so much more, i geniunely cannot bring myself to file it under a single genre or trope, it'd feel so inadequate. Doom Patrol is a story about what it means to be human. There's not a single able bodied person in sight, it's got the most disgusting, awe inspiring, lovable characters, and each story is treated with so much intelligence and compassion and intricacy and kindness that it makes you cry. I literally cry my ass off at every fucking episode, this dc superhero show is a manifesto for the broken postmodern human, it could meet Nietzsche in the pit and break him in half. I'm positively going to die when i finish Doom Patrol, every single character in this bastard of a show has became my fucking lifeline, but also i dont think i'll ever finish it, it's like saying "yeah i finished reading the buddhism principles", this shit will take a lifetime to live by.

These were translated, as the original anon wrote them in Spanish so maybe something got lost along the way, but it sure feels like "Joker Cyclone" was trying to neg me into reading their fics as an anon reviewer. Either that, or this person is just really thirsting hard for this other writer, idk.

I guess I bring this up to say please don't do this to fic writers, it's really shitty.
