Did an exploration of what two of my ocs would look like if they were Cyborgs under Desperado because. Uhm. Of course I would. This ended up sick as fuck I need to share this here.
Tumblr media
On the left is Diatier, I decided her code name would be Wreckhouse after particularly strong winds that come from the Long Range Mountains. While originally, Diatier is literally an alien from fucking space, the place she crashed into was in North America. Additionally she moved at incredible speeds, and the Wreckhouse winds are measured to be hurricane strength, reportedly over 200 km/h.
Tumblr media
(Original design)
On the right is Spade. His code name is Simoon, after the harsh dry winds that blow through Sahara, Jordan, Iraq and Syria. Spade’s original name is derived from Armenian, vaguely in my head putting him in that general area if he was a human being. Anyways it’s a wind that can essentially inflict Heat Stroke on a person, which fits pretty well with his heat and fire based aesthetic.
Tumblr media
(Original Design, not a HUGE amount is changed admittedly.)
The Fenrir unit, next to Spade, is meant to represent Diamond, Spade’s buddy lol. Not much to say about them. I will confess i referenced heavily to draw them, mostly because finding head references for Fenrirs that make sense is SO HARD.
(Diamond has no concrete design right now, I just know they’re a dog.)
Anyways. Fun project. It goes on my mecha blog.

[ad_1] “Every day. Every day I check the weather,” she says. “How many hurricanes is in the Gulf, and how many’s coming up through, and where’s this one going to land.” That constant vigilance has imbued those who remain in Port aux Basques with a sense of profound distress. Any severe weather forecast now sends even the most stoic residents into a tailspin of worry, says Rene Roy, editor-in-chief of the Wreckhouse Weekly, a local newspaper that’s covered the aftermath of Fiona for the last 12 months. “There’s definitely a perspective shift,” Roy said, leaning back in his office chair. He’s not far from where he took a photo that circulated in news outlets worldwide as Fiona bore down on his hometown: a blue house in shambles, clinging to a cliffside. “I think people are a lot more aware of the weather now. They’re a lot more nervous.” Roy launches into a story. He’d had a bonfire in the yard last night. Perfect weather. Normally, half the town would stop by to say hello, he said, rolling down their car windows for a chat. But this year, nobody dropped in. At the grocery store, too, locals are quiet, lost in their own worlds. Conversation that once flowed freely is now forced and stilted. Grief and fear hangs over the town, palpable and suffocating. “This town has shifted so much,” he says. “It has died since Fiona, because that sense of community got demolished.” Roy speaks gravely, surrounded by papers in his office. He’s working on a book about the disaster, interviewing people as they recount the worst day of their lives. He’s weighed down by it all, he says, even though his house wasn’t touched. “Everything around here is different. Water Street, now — I used to be able to walk down there and say hi to all the neighbors, and now you walk down there and it’s a beach. There’s nothing,” he says, raising his eyebrows. “It’s been completely scoured.” [ad_2]

The things you think of on a cold, windy day.
Woke up this morning after yet another night of waking up every two hours. Don’t know if it was the pizza, that I’m exercising again after a year and change, or the four cans of Coke, but that can really go away anytime now. Few things are more frustrating then waking up in the middle of the night, hoping it’s 6am and instead finding that it’s only a half hour after you went to bed. Did my usual morning routine. Hopped on the scale to see that I’m still hugging the 280 mark, then poured an orange juice and stared outside for a bit. It’s been blowing up a light storm here; the locals would say it’s a “storm”, but as someone that’s driven through hurricanes on the Trans-Canada through Wreckhouse, it just feels like a nice, windy day. Been doing this more as of late. I couldn’t tell you why. It just seems to work, at least for me. I’d rather have the scale back down to the 230 area, and not have a wall of houses between me and the surf, but that lotto ticket hasn’t come in yet, so you make do with what you have.
Seems to be the mantra of everyone as of late.
Was realizing today that I’d been here for over a year and a half. For most that’s a pretty short stay, but for me that’s the second longest I’ve lived at a location since I left home, back when Back Street Boys were a thing. It’s weird; I remember telling friends once upon a time that I wouldn’t want to join the military because you’d move too much, and yet here I am making them look like homebodys.
I hadn’t really planned to stay here this long really. Originally it was just to come back, get my head back on straight, and figure out what the do with my life after the gongshow that was 2021. Figured I’d either be looking to buy a house because I had a reason to stay, or be on the road again. Seems I ended up with a sort of no-mans land situation where neither of those happened. Inertia man; it’s a bitch.
Ended up reading a reddit article, and the comments within. Most of the times it’s mostly edgelord horseshit or trolls trying to get the attention their parents never gave them. This time however, it was pretty decent. Mainly folks pretty much despondent on their future prospects. And it kind of spoke to me. The unaffordability of our current reality. The looming sword of Damaclese when it comes to the environment. And the general inaction of the powers that be. It reminded me of when I was younger, I had plans for bigger things. Now, I just have plans to just do what I want to do, and nothing else. See the world, find a quiet part of it, and let the idiocy sort itself out. Sounds depressing, but when you’ve been screaming at the wall, you either eventually stop to save your throat, or you go mute.
Or you blow up the wall. Never figured that part out.

Haven’t shared some of my OCs from the Preservation recently, so oi, why not share four of ‘em!
First is Rohan “Wildfire“ Samra, brother of Kalya “Remedy“ Samra. Like his sister, he prefers non-lethal methods when fighting the baddies. He's got grenades that knock enemies unconscious with a specially designed fire-like substance.
Second is Sunny “Rainmaker” Miller. This smol girl is your heavy weapons gal, gonna take that LMG and make it rain, fill the bad guys up with unstoppable strength. And bullets! Mostly bullets...
The third’s David “Giantslayer” Torreblanca, the squad's gunslinger. For those times when one gun, or even two guns ain't enough, then you get four! Swap them out whenever a pair needs to recharge its energy. Never stop shootin'!
And finally we have Chris “Wreckhouse“ Renard! The Wild Wind of Canada, wielder of a high frequency energy katana - "November Witch" - and a specialized mechanical trigger-based sheath designed for Iaijutsu techniques in combat. Oldest member of the squad as well, worth mentioning!

Port aux Basque under state of emergency as Fiona sweeps houses out to sea
The town of Port aux Basque in Newfoundland and Labrador is under a state of emergency as first responders cope with electrical fires, residential flooding, and washoutsdue to post-tropical storm Fiona.
According to the RCMP in the province, Fiona wreakedhavoc Saturdayon the small coastal townthat sits on the far, southwestern tip of Newfoundland.
Residents have posted images and video on social media of apartment buildings being swept out to sea, roads flooded and homes crumbling. As of Saturday morning, residents in the entire East End Channel hadbeen ordered to evacuate.
Around 11:30 a.m. local time, RCMP issued an advisory to residents, asking themto “refrain from risky behaviour,” including taking any pictures or video in areas of flooding.
“This is not safe. People are putting themselves and first responders at unnecessary risk,” RCMP said in the advisory posted to Twitter.
Newfoundland Power, which delivers electricity to 600 communities in the province, said in a statement posted to Twitter on Saturday that “conditions have deteriorated quickly” in the Port aux Basque region, delaying their ability to respond to outages.

A wreckhouse wind warning is also in effect with winds expectedtoshiftthe southwest by early Saturday evening but “remain strong with widespread gusts to 110 km/h expected for a few hours before diminishing,” the weather agency said on its website.
