Since it’s Being Human renaissance here, would like to recommend two shows to my mutuals – Wreck (2022) and The Red King (2024).
Wreck is a slasher – murder mystery from BBC3. It’s aimed at the same demographic, YA audience and it continues the tradition of the BBC3 classics, such as In The Flesh and Being Human, subverting tropes of the genre. Bonus points: Both leads are queer, gay/lesbian solidarity. Great trans representation in the main cast. Fun premise that also explores social issues of class and race and, as someone put it, it’s Hot Fuzz meets Squid Games. Both seasons are available on iPlayer and Hulu.
The Red King is a new murder mystery show from Toby Whithouse, the creator of Being Human. On the surface level it’s a reimagining of Wicker Man but with a new modern spin. Hot Fuzz meets Broadchurch with that distinctive Toby’s writing style – self fulfilled prophesies, moral corruption and an autistic coded lead who is also a woman of color. Honestly, you can recognize a bit of both Annie and Nina in her. The entire season is available on Alibi, I think.

every single trans babe on here who is dying for trans representation where a trans person is simply cast to act as a character and its not mentioned anywhere in the show that the character is trans
you guys have got to go watch bbc wreck right the fuck now
its barely got any recognition. if you dont watch just to see the loml rosie, watch to increase the viewing figures and let the metrics show this is SOMETHING WE LOVE.
also in general its queer as hell, both the main character (male) and the main character (female) are gay. if you love fucked up terrible lesbians you have to watch this show. and i saw it summed up beautifully somewhere, the characters are not persecuted for being queer and the queerness of the characters does not drive the narrative, but it does heavily inform the choices that they make. translation: theres no homophobia or transphobia affecting the plot. but gay people make gay choices.
beyond the queerness, its all around an amazingly done horror comedy thats genuinely fucked up and genuinely brilliant to watch. its like if squid game met hot fuzz, its only six episodes, it has a cathartic kill the rich plotline, you will not be the same person after you finish watching.
also this is rosie. shes a cher tribute and her character profile is basically just "hands down the hottest person on the ship" and theyre right (its set on a cruise ship lol)

Been really enjoying Wreck (BBC Three). Cute dudes kissing plus a slasher murder mystery? Yes, please.
Plus it's filmed locally and it's really weird seeing places in Belfast doubling for cruise ship facilities.

Forgot to mention that I'd watched all of Season 2 of Wreck. I liked the change of setting to a wellness festival and all the twists & turns plus the dark humour. I liked that some characters came back and they weren't afraid to kill others off either - the ending didn't have quite the impact of the season 1 finale but I feel it did set things up for a possible season 3.

A silly idea that popped into my head - a Wreck vid set to the The Suite Life on Deck theme song (bonus points if it's ironically set up like a cheesy sitcom opening credits sequence) would be brilliant 😂

Some dork felt the urge to rewatch BBC Sherlock again and threw herself back down a rabbit hole.
Mycroft is legitimately one of my favorite fictional peeps of all time and Mark did an amazing job playing him.
ANYWAY
Just a smol offering of my current work~

I'm starting to feel that when the BBC Producers wrote Merlin, they were trying to gaslight the homophobes.
