Follow My Lead | Tom Hiddleston x OFC |Â Chapter 12 | He calls his girlfriend âmaâamâ! Thatâs not normal.
A/N: This will update every Thursday.  There are 13 chapters.  There are all sorts of kinds of D/s relationships.  This is the one I choose to write this time. Just one more chapter, peeps!!
MASTERLIST HERE
Pairing: Tom Hiddleston x OFC (Vivian Swann)
Summary: Tom and Vivian have both been unlucky in love, searching for something outside of the bounds of a typical relationship. Â When the two of them connect via a dating app, Tom is introduced to the idea of being submissive to Vivian. Â Which is the one thing he never knew he needed. Â Under the firm hand of Vivian, Tom learns what it means to submit and Vivian learns what it means to be in a loving dominant relationship. Â But not everyone seems to understand what they have and the best intentions can destroy the strongest relationship.
This Chapter: Benedict confronts Tom and Vivian about their relationship and it does not go as planned. Â
Warnings for story: Dominant/submissive relationship (sub!Tom), lots of smut including but not limited to: vaginal sex, oral sex (male and female receiving), edging, denial, teasing, use of restraints, spanking, multiple orgasm, anal play, use of toys.
Tag Lists Are Open! Â Let me know if you want to be added. Â Thank you for reading!

Vivian headed over a bit early to Ben and Sophieâs rented house. Sophie poured her a glass of wine.
âItâs not like youâre driving home. Live a little.â Vivian took the glass and sipped at it.
âDid Ben say anything to you?
âNot a peep. Which is disconcerting. I donât like it.â
âPerhaps you need a shorter leash for him.â Vivian quipped.
âCan I borrow one?â Sophie held out her hand and Vivian laughed.
Their heads turned as the front door opened.
âYou have been acting weird all day, Benedict, can you just tell what the hell you are up to?â Tom groused as the two of them walked through the front door.
âDarling.â Tom hurried over to Vivian and kissed her cheek. She scratched his neck. âHow was your day? I missed you.â
Benedict wandered over to Sophie. âTHIS! This is what I am up to!â
Vivian narrowed his eyes. âI thought you handled this.â Her hand slid down Tomâs back, stopping on the small of his back, possessively.
âI thought I had too.â Tom whispered into her ear.
âI got this.â Vivian kissed his cheek. âSophieâŚâ
Sophie roughly grabbed Benedictâs ear and walked him to a chair, tossing him down.
âOW! Not in front of the guests.â Ben hissed.
âExplain yourself, darling.â Sophie leaned down and hissed in his ear.
âHe calls his girlfriend âmaâamâ! Thatâs not normal.â
âHow did youââ Tom started.
Vivian stepped in front of Tom. âYou came into the trailer yesterday.â
Benâs cheeks blushed. âYou were preoccupied. And now the ring. Tom, you barely know her! Itâs only been four months! You canât marry her!â
Tomâs nostrils flared for a moment until he burst into laughter, followed by Vivian and then Sophie.
âWhy is everyone laughing?â Benâs eyes darted around the room at all the people laughing at him.
Sophie smacked the back of his head. âShould I tell him or you, Vivian?â
Vivian glanced back at Tom, âMe or you, darling?â
Tom gestured towards Ben. âYou, since he clearly doesnât listen to me.â
Vivian sighed and walked towards Benedict and Sophie, signaling for Tom to sit next to her. She grabbed Tomâs hand and showed Benedict the ring. âItâs a day collar.â
Benâs brows furrowed. Sophie squeezed his neck. âYou know how we sometimes âplayâ with me being in control?â
Benedict nodded while Tomâs eyes widened and Vivian smirked. âYeah.â
âVivian and Tom do that 24 hours a day, seven days a week.â Sophie added.
âThe ring is a symbol of ownership that he is my submissive.â Vivian squeezed Tomâs thigh. âThat he is mine.â
âShe is mine.â Tom leaned against her. âSo I appreciated you backing the fuck off of me. With the comments and what not.â
Sophie smacked Benedict again. âYou are so getting punished later for that. This is the happiest Tom has ever been. Why would you tease him about it?â
Benedict mumbled something, Sophie elbowed him. Benedict raised his voice. âIâm sorry, Tom.â
âIâm not the one you need to apologize to.â Tom squeezed Vivianâs hand.
Ben sheepishly faced Vivian. âIâm sorry for questioning your relationship. And for making fun of Tom.â
Vivian chewed on her lip for a moment. âYouâre forgiven. On the condition, Sophie punishes you.â
âWith pleasure.â Sophie piped up.
Vivian pressed his hands against the table. âNow that we settled things, letâs eat. Iâm sure the two of you are famished. All those jumping to conclusions.â Vivian raised a knowing eyebrow at Ben.
âIâm never living this down am I?â
âNot a chance.â Sophie offered. âVivian, letâs get the food. Can we trust the two of you to not end civilization in the meantime?â
âYes maâam.â Both Tom and Benedict answered in unison.
Once Vivian and Sophie disappeared from view, Benedict leaned over the table.
âWhy didnât you tell me?â Ben hissed, rubbing his temple. âNow we are both in trouble.â
âGee, Ben, I donât know why I didnât tell something so deep and personal like I am submissive in my relationship. Because you were so understanding and supportive.â
âTouche.â Ben conceded. âI have been rather abominable. I only wanted the best for you. Youâve been hurt so many times before.â
âYour heart was in the right place, I will give you that. Vivian is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Trust me.â
âYou do seem at ease.â
âI am. So no more worrying about me. That is what Vivian is for.â
They both laughed. Vivian and Sophie came back with the food.
âOh good, the two of you have made amends.â Vivian quipped.
âItâs hard to stay mad at that face.â Tom gestured across the table with a smile.
âIndeed.â Sophie rubbed Benâs shoulder. âSo Vivian and I were talking about your punishments.â
Tom and Ben paled.
-
The rest of dinner went well. Ben asked several questions with Sophie joining in. Tom and Vivian did their best to answer. Tom asked Ben and Sophie questions in turn.
âHow long have youââ
ââPlayed?â Sophie interjected. âWhat, three years?â
Ben nodded. âAlmost three years.â
âWow.â Tom leaned back. âI had no idea.â
Benedict blushed. âWell outside being sore the next day, you wouldnât?â
Tomâs eyes narrowed. âIs that why you were so distracted the other day?â
Ben shrugged his shoulders. âGuilty.â
âYou think you know a personâŚâ Vivian giggled against her wineglass.
After finishing dinner, the couples said their goodbyes. Sophie was leaving in a few days while Vivian still had another week of vacation. Tom smiled and bopped along to the radio as the Uber took them home. Tom turned to Vivian.
âIâm glad that is all sorted.â
âHm..â Vivian hummed.
âYou never mentioned my punishment?â Tom fiddled with his hands.
âI didnât, did I?â Vivian raised an eyebrow. She closed her eyes and leaned against Tom. Her lips teased into a smile. Tom gulped but said nothing.
They entered the dark house and Vivian shot Tom a raised eyebrow. He proceeded to the bedroom. By the time she reached there, Tom was naked and standing in the middle of the room. Vivian grabbed the collar and latched it around his neck.
âI realized I have been going soft on you, sunshine.â She circled him. Her nail trailed down his arm.
âYes, maâam.â Tom shifted his feet. He wasnât sure what to expect.
âRemember our training from when I moved in?â Vivian growled into Tomâs ear. Tom nodded. She swatted his ass. âUse your words.â
âYes, maâam.â His eyes followed her around the room. Edging is not Tomâs favorite.
âIt will only be for the week while Iâm here to start. Lie on the bed.â Tom crawled onto the bed, fighting off a grumble.
âAre you complaining?â She tilted her head to spy at him. âBecause I can make this more difficult. Perhaps introduce you to a cage.â
âAs you wish, maâam.â Tom hissed out.
âThatâs my good boy.â She leaned over him. Vivian scratched his thigh. âLetâs get you prepared.â
Vivian untied the scarf from the bedframe and pulled Tomâs hands above his head before tying them together.
âThat should hold you. No cumming. You tell me when you are close.â Her hand moved closer and her fingers trailed up and down his cock.
Tom shuddered at the soft touch. âYes, maâam.â
Vivian kissed his lips softly, barely touching them before turning and walking away. She made her way to the dresser at the other end of the room. Tomâs eyes followed her the entire way. She shucked off her shirt, revealing a lacy bra. Tomâs cock appreciated the view.
Vivian turned in place and shimmied out her jeans, taking her time to place them in the hamper. She made a show of bending over to pick up her clothes. Tom wiggled on the bed, scooting around with his legs. Vivian spun around and Tom froze, mid-scoot.
âLast warning, stay still or you will be punished.â
Tom slumped. âYes, maâam.â
She grabbed a bottle of lube. Vivian climbed onto the bed next to him. She dripped a generous amount of lube on Tomâs already half-hard cock. âLook at you, darling.â Her fingers light as feathers against his thigh. âYou are so responsive, baby.â His cock twitched.
Vivian pressed against his side, one hand trailing up his legs and the other scratching his chest. âYou are my baby, sunshine.â Vivianâs lips ghosted across Tomâs ear. âMy precious boy.â Her hand curled around his shaft, squeezing with a firm grip. âAnd this is mine, my cock, for my pleasure.â She jerked him and continued to tug with a firm grip.
Tom let loose a ragged breath and flattened his feet against the mattress.
âYes, maâam.â He let a loud groan from his lips. âPlease.â
Vivian kissed along Tomâs chin and neck while continuing to jerk and tug him. Her hand slipping over smoothly because of the lube.
âI⌠IâmâŚâ Tom gasped. Vivian removed her hand and leaned away.
âGood boy.â Vivian praised, rubbing Tomâs arm. âGood job telling me.â
Tom steadied his breath and Vivian lightly touched him again. When she was ready, Vivian gripped him again and tugged. This continued for about three or four more times, stopping each time before Tom came. Vivian stopped and kissed Tomâs cheek. âYou are such a good boy for me, sunshine. You did so well.â She untied his hands and rubbed his wrists.
Sweat beaded on Tomâs brow. âThank you, maâam.â
âIâll go get a flannel to clean you up and then letâs go to bed.â
Vivian returned with a warm wet flannel and had Tom clean himself up under her watchful eye before taking it back to the bathroom and changing into pajamas. Tom rose to get dressed.
âWhat do you think you are doing, sunshine?â Vivian stopped in the doorway between the bedroom and bathroom.
âGetting pajamas, maâam.â Tom raised his eyebrows.
âNot anymore. From now on, you only sleep in the nude.â
Tomâs hand dropped to his side, and he returned to the bed. âYes, maâam.â he whispered.
âGoodnight, Tom. I love you.â
Tom leaned over to kiss her. âI love you too.â He snuggled into her embrace and drifted off to sleep.
-
Tom woke the next morning to Vivianâs hand on his cock.
âThat is some wake up call, maâam.â
You remember, sunshine. Quick session in the morning, longer one in evening and a really long one on the weekend.â
He was already close and gripped the sheets.
âIâŚâ Vivian stopped and smirked, pleased at how quickly Tom reached his edge. He exhaled sharply. âI⌠remember.â
âGood boy.â Vivian sucked on his neck. âBecause you are going to have to do this to yourself and report back to me once I leave when I tell you to.â
Tomâs eyes widened. âWhaâŚâ He cut himself off with a groan as Vivian stroked him again. âAh! Yes! Please!â Tom whimpered through gritted teeth.
Vivian released him two more times until Tom was panting.
âYou are the best boy for me, sunshine. Letâs go shower together and you can take care of me.â
Tom groaned and nodded and slowly followed her to the bathroom.
Tom fingered Vivian to orgasm in the shower, sucking on her nipples while she leaned against the tile. She finished up with taking care to wash Tomâs body. She wrapped herself into a robe while Tom dressed for the day.
âBreak a leg, sunshine.â She kissed him before he left for the set.
-
This routine continued for the next several days. Tom ached for release but wasnât ready yet to beg for it. Once again, he was soiling the sheets as he leaked. Tom came home later that evening to find Vivian cooking in the kitchen. Seeing her in the apron brought a smile to Tomâs face. He snuck up behind her to kiss her neck.
âSmells delicious.â Tom muttered against her neck.
âGo take a seat and Iâll bring it out to you.â Vivian reached back and caressed his cheek.
âThank you, maâam.â He left to sit at the table.
Vivian finished up dinner and served up two portions before heading into the dining area. Tom licked his lips when she set the plate down. He tucked in. Vivian just gazed over at him.
âI love how much you love food, sunshine.â She smiled.
Tom wiped his mouth with a napkin. âI love your food.â He added.
âYouâre too kind, sunshine.â She started eating her own plate.
Tom ended up getting seconds and then clearing the dishes. They settled onto the couch watching a movie. Vivian teased Tom throughout the movie, not wanting to rile him up too much before bedtime. Tom whimpered and moaned but complied with Vivianâs instructions. But it was no simple task.
âYou donât want to beg, sunshine? Iâm leaving on Monday.â Vivian teased as they slipped between the covers.
âNot yet.â Tom smirked.
âChallenge accepted.â
Tom regretted his words as tomorrow was Saturday. No hiding behind work.
-
Tom woke late on Saturday morning to find Vivianâs side of the bed empty. He ducked his head into the bathroom and then the living room to find her in the kitchen, finishing up her coffee.
âOh good, youâre up.â She set her coffee cup in the sink. âI made you breakfast, eat up and then meet me in the living room.â
Tom moved to grab the plate of food on the counter. Vivian dragged her fingertips across his hips. âDonât keep me waiting too long, sunshine.â
Tom gulped and watched her walk away. He ate even faster than usual, certain he would have a stomach ache later. Which was preferable to any punishment Vivian would dole out. When he stepped into the room, he stopped in his tracks to find Vivian sprawled naked on the couch, playing with herself. Her fingers dipped between her legs while her other hand squeezed one of her breasts.
âI got bored.â She commented lazily. âSit.â Vivian stopped what she was doing and gestured to a chair.
Tom nodded and sat, the fabric rough on his bare skin. His pajamas becoming a memory at this point.
âMake yourself hard.â Vivian ordered, sitting up to watch.
âI beg yourââ
âI was going to let you cum today, but if you canât follow a simple instructionââ
âNo!â Tom waved his hands at her. âI can be good! Please! Please! I can do it. Please let me cum! Please, I need to cum.â He pleaded, his eyes wide in panic.
Vivian grabbed his play collar and snapped it around his neck. âThatâs my sunshine boy. I knew you would beg. Now.. make yourself hard.â She returned to her spot on the couch. Tom noticed a bottle of lube among some other items on the table. He opened it up and squirted some into his hand. He stroked himself with a firm grip.
âAhâŚâ Tom moaned as he grew hard in his hand.
âThatâs it, baby, make my cock nice and hard.â
Tomâs head lolled back as he could sense his release coming closer and closer. It wouldnât take much.
âStop!â Vivian called out. Tomâs eyes snapped open. His hand slowed and then stopped. âI said make yourself hard. Did I say you could cum yet?â
âNo maâam.â Tom realized his mistake.
Vivian walked towards him and straddle his hips. She tugged his head by the collar. âYou will sit still. You will not cum until I tell you to.â
Tom nodded quickly, his collar jingling as he did. âYes, maâam.â
She sunk slowly on his cock. Tom moaned as she inched down. Vivian held his shoulders for balance.
âHand that to me.â She pointed to a vibrator on the same table where Tom found the lube. Tom handed it to her with a furrowed brow. âYou didnât think I was going to let you cum inside me, did you?â She traced the sharp line of his chin and pecked his lip. âSilly boy.â
She switched the vibrator on and placed it on her clit. Vivianâs pussy clenched against Tom, who groaned. âMaâamâŚâ
âYou are going to sit there as I come on your cock, Thomas. You will not thrust, buck, or rut into me. Is that understood?â
âYes, maâam, but IâŚâ
âWhat?â Vivian snapped. Her first orgasm was already close.
âBut I need to cum.â Tom whined. âPlease, maâam.â
Vivian pressed the vibrator harder against her and she came screaming. She clenched around Tom, who was sweating in an effort to not come.
âWho decides if you come, sunshine?â Vivian panted, removing the vibrator for a moment to calm down.
âYou do, maâam.â
âAnd whose cum is it?â
âYours, maâam.â
She placed the vibrator back against her clit. âBeg for it.â
Tom panicked as he struggled to maintain his composure as Vivian made life even harder by rocking ever so slightly upon his cock. âPlease. I want to⌠I need to cu.. cum. I will be so good if you let me cum, maâam. I will be the best boy ever. Just please⌠let meâŚâ
Vivian lifted off of him as she noticed him clenching underneath her thighs, Tomâs balls tightened. She gently pressed her fingertip against the tip of his cock, aiming his ejaculation onto his stomach and chest. Tom slumped into the chair in exhaustion and embarrassment. Vivian lowered back down, her wet lips rubbing along his deflating cock. She swirled her finger along Tomâs stomach and popped it into her finger.
âAw, baby, look at the mess you made. And you didnât have permission. You just couldnât help yourself, could you sunshine?â She stroked his chin and rubbed his neck. Tomâs body was covered in cum and sweat, his face tear stained and red. Tom whimpered. Vivian kissed his lips and cheek.
âItâs okay, baby.â Vivian soothed him, petting his hair. âYou canât help it. Itâs okay, I will teach you. You want to go take a bath and clean up?â
Tom nodded his head. Vivian stood up and took his hand. âCome on, sunshine. Iâll go run you a bath and clean you up nice, put on some boxers and eat some food. Does that sound good?â
Tom nodded. âYes, maâam. I would like that.â he whispered.
âAnd then some movies and snuggles?â
âYes, please.â
Vivian wiped away some of the tear trails and kissed him again. âOkay, sunshine. Weâll do that. Whoâs my good boy?â
âI am.â
âYes you are. Come on.â Vivian grabbed the water bottle off the table and led Tom to the bathroom where she drew a hot bath for him, lowering herself in first before beckoning Tom to join her. She made sure he drank the water once he settled.
âI canât have you passing out.â
She took great care at lathering up Tomâs torso and legs and rinsing it off before moving to wash Tomâs hair. He sighed and leaned against her. Tom slowly dragged himself to standing and stepped out of the tub, and Vivian toweled him off before grabbing a pair of underwear for Tom to put on. She gently tugged his head down to her by the collar to kiss him.
âLie down on the couch and I will get some snacks.â Tom quietly shuffled off to the living room. âPick out some movies!â She called after him, heading to the kitchen.
Vivian was not surprised when Tom dozed off through the movies, sleeping through lunch. She didnât want to disturb him. One because he needed the rest and two because he looked so peaceful and adorable when he slept. She nudged him awake late that afternoon.
âThomas, you need to get up. You need to eat, sunshine.â
âYes, maâam.â he murmured, eyes still closed.
âLetâs go to eat. You need to get up, sweetie.â
Tom groaned and stretched, blinking to adjust his eyes. âHow long have I been sleeping?â
âSeveral hours.â Vivian responded, rubbing his leg.
Tom shot up. âI wasted the whole day!â
âYou did nothing of the sort, sunshine. You needed rest because you work hard. Iâm not going anywhere.â
Tom pouted. âBut you leave on Monday for home.â
Vivian comforted. âAnd I can come back and visit again. Now letâs go eat. You must be starving, you missed lunch. I know how much you love to eat.â
Tomâs stomach growled on cue and he blushed. âI guess I could eat.â
Vivian smiled and left to fix her hair and fetch her shoes. She picked a cozy bistro and the two of them snuggled into a small booth in the corner. Vivian was particularly affectionate, kissing and nuzzling Tomâs neck. He kissed back too.
âSo when I get back to yourââ
ââour home.â Tom corrected her.
Vivian nodded. âRight.â
Tom cupped her cheek. âTo quote a wise woman, why are you afraid to take up space in my life?â He kissed as their dessert, well Tomâs dessert, was dropped off.
Vivian chuckled. âI am pretty wise, arenât I? Remember that home improvement list?â
Tom nodded. âYes, darling?â His eyes widened. âWould you like to get started on it?â
Vivian smiled. âI am thinking about getting started on updating the kitchen.â
Tom hugged him and kissed her again, oblivious of how his newly acquired ring caught the light in the restaurant or the fact one of the other diners pulled out their phone.
âI think that is a delightful idea, darling. Let me know what you need from me.â
Vivian nodded. âThank you, darling.â
By the time they finished dessert and got back to Tomâs rented home, both of their phones buzzed with a text from Luke:
Did the two of you get secretly marry behind my back?
Attached was a picture from the restaurant that night posted to social media. Tomâs day collar clearly visible as he kissed Vivian.
âYou explain it to him this time, darling.â Vivian ordered.
Tom smiled. âI will, eventually. But right now I would like to show âmy wifeâ how much well I can please her.â Tom wiggled his eyebrows.
Vivian pursed her lips in mock contemplation. âWell I donât think you are dressed for the occasion, sunshine.â
Tom took off out of the room and returned naked, holding not only his collar but the leash as well.
âWho is my best boy?â Vivian asked, latching the collar around his neck.
âI am, maâam.â He sighed as she latched the leash onto the o ring in front.
âYou are mine.â Vivian purred as she tugged on the leash.
âAnd you are mine.â Tom repeated.
âYes I am. Now follow me like a good boy.â

Summary:
Tim and Lucien finally set out from Whiterun towards the town of Ivarstead, on their way to visit the Greybeards of High Hrothgar. Along they way that morning, there is learning about magic and dealing with bandits.
The sun was just cresting over the horizon as Tim and Lucien made their way past the outer walls of Whiterun. Despite himself, Tim paused as they reached the stables to look back at the city, trying to commit what he saw to memory. Who knew when, if ever, he'd return to this place? He may not be very fond of the leadership of this place, but the citizens he'd interacted with seemed to be good, generous, hardworking people. If it wasn't for them, especially Irileth and Danica, he'd probably be dead.
"What do you mean, you can't take us to Iverstead?"
Tim turned his attention to the conversation taking place between Lucien and the carriage driver.
"Is something wrong?" he asked as he walked up to the pair.
Lucien sighed. "Apparently this carriage has already been commandeered by Honningbrew Meadery to take a large shipment of mead up to Windhelm, so we can't hire him to take us to Ivarstead."
"I'm sorry," the Nordic man said regretfully. "If I were to take you Ivarstead, it would delay my shipment to Windhelm by a couple of days, and transporting this quantity of mead is riskier the longer I'm on the road due to the bandits."
"Hmmm," Tim murmured as he pulled out his map and studied the space between Whiterun, Ivarstead, and Windhelm. "Well, could you at least take us halfway?" he asked as he showed the map to the carriage man and Lucien. "Just take us to where the road forks off here." He shrugged at Lucien. "We'll have to make the rest of the trip to Ivarstead on foot, but at least we're not walking the entire way."
"That shouldn't be a problem," the Nord said with an agreeable nod. "and I'll only charge you half the usual fee since I'm only taking you halfway."
Lucien sighed again. "I suppose it can't be helped. At least we can follow the river to the town from there and don't have to worry about getting lost in the wilderness." He regarded the map critically. "We may have to camp for a couple of nights though. Do we have the supplies for that?"
Tim nodded. "Hope for the best, prepare for the worst," he replied. "I got enough supplies I think we'll be ok for a straight week of camping. Especially if we follow the river, we won't have to worry about water, and we can hunt or fish for food if rations get low."
"Salmon are starting to make their migration runs to their spawning grounds this time of year," the carriage man offered. He inclined his head toward Tim's bow. "If you've got decent aim with that, catching fish with it won't be a problem along the Darkwater River. You will have to be careful of bears, though. Also, make sure you have a strong line tied to the arrow shaft when fishing. Because of the spring melt off from the mountains, the rivers are running deeper and faster and will send your catch downriver before you can blink."
"Alright," Tim said with as he folded his map back up. "We've got a plan. How soon can we leave?"Â
"As soon as you fellas hop into the cart, we can be off."
The carriage driver's name is Bjorlam, and for the first part of the morning the ride is pleasant enough. Riding on the cart is definitely faster than walking the path on foot, but still slower than Tim is used to back on Earth, which is frustrating. He wished they could afford to purchase horses so they could travel at a faster pace. However, the stables back at Whiterun wouldn't sell for anything less than one thousand Septims apiece. So for the first hour that morning, Tim sat brooding as he watched the landscape pass by.
At least until Lucien pulls out a book and taps Tim's knee with it.
"What's this?" Tim asks as he takes the thin book and examines the cover. The leather is dyed yellow and has what appears to a bird symbol stitched on the front.
"It's a book on novice Restoration spells," Lucien explained.
Tim looked at Lucien with surprise. "You want to start teaching me magic now?"
"Why not? Didn't I say back in Whiterun that I was going to teach you? Besides, we've got scads of time to kill."
Tim's heartbeat quickened a bit and any boredom and frustration he had been entertaining was immediately forgotten. He listened intently as Lucien started to explain basic spell theory and Magicka.
It was a few hours past sunrise and while Tim had no problem absorbing the more technical explanations of spellcasting that came from the book and Lucien's own clarifications, actually tapping into Tim's own pool of Magicka in order to bring the basic healing spell into existence had been a far greater challenge. Lucien was starting to be concerned that perhaps Tim just didn't have access to Magicka, being from another world and all. It had been frustrating for the both of them. For Lucien, accessing Magicka was something innate and natural, like breathing or blinking. He never had to try and explain "how" to tap into it to someone who was completely unaware of its existence until recently. Mentally, the scholar likened it to trying to teach a fish how to drink water while they were swimming in a pond.
Then, the young man had suggested something that Lucien had never heard of before.
"What is 'meditation'?"
Tim had shifted to sit on the floor of the cart, so he could adjust his posture into a cross-legged seated position that Lucien found curious. "It's a little hard to explain," he said with a slight frown. "It's a kind of mental training... Limiting distractions... Focusing inward... Maybe... If I can just clear my mind and adjust my awareness I can find this Magicka pool you say I should have?"
So Lucien watched as Tim adjusted his hands into very specific poses before resting them on his knees, closed his eyes, and breathed in and out with slow measured breaths. He watched as Tim's face relaxed into an expression of quiet concentration. After a bit, Lucien wondered if perhaps Tim had fallen asleep, but the fact that the young man kept his posture intact, even to the precise position of the tips of his thumbs resting against the tips of his ring and pinky fingers while his other two fingers were extended reassured the scholar that more than just slumber was taking place.
For about an hour, it was quiet and peaceful in the cart. While Tim meditated, Lucien had pulled out a different Restoration spellbook to study, this one containing Apprentice level healing spells. Healing Hands was a slightly more complex spell since it was used to heal other people, not just the caster, but it was not beyond Lucien's grasp as a mage. However, out of the corner of his eyes, a movement broke his own concentration.Â
Timothy's posture had changed. While his left hand was still resting on his knee, his right hand was slowly rising upward and towards his chest, fingers still held in the same position though his first two fingers were now pointing upward. His eyes were still closed, though his brows were furrowed slightly. Then his right hand shifted. His ring and pinky fingers stretched to join their brothers, and then his hand went through a motion as if scooping something gently from the air in front of him, curling his fingers around something intangible. Lucien's eyes widened as slender tendrils of light began to swirl around Tim's hand. Then, when Tim opened his hand, those tendrils coalesced into a small glowing sphere of golden light.
"Oh my..." Lucien whispered as a smile formed on his lips. "You did it!"
Slowly, Tim's eyes opened. His gaze seemed distant at first, but soon he focused wide-eyed at the golden spell cradled in his right hand.
"Wow," Tim breathed out in awe. "It's like holding a star." He brought his other hand up and brushed his fingertips along the outer edges of the spell, watching as small embers of light broke off from the main sphere to chase after them.
"So, you can access your Magicka now?"
Tim nodded. "I think so. It's... different. Definitely not intuitive like you describe it. It's kinda like flexing a muscle I never knew I had. I have to make a conscious effort to tap this... energy."Â
He furrowed his brow in concentration again and actively channeled energy into the spell. Larger golden tendrils of light swirled around him for a few seconds, and he could feel a comforting warmth coursing through his veins. But before too long those tendrils disappeared and the light of the spell in Tim's hand winked out suddenly. He winced as a slight headache twinged behind his eyes.
"Ow..."
Lucien watched this with great curiosity, wincing along with him in sympathy as he immediately recognized the sign of Tim expending all the Magicka at his disposal. "Interesting... It appears your Magicka pool might be quite small at this point even compared to novice mages just starting out." He fidgeted thoughtfully with his beard. "I wonder if the reason your pool is smaller than normal is because you aren't from this world to begin with?"
"That might make sense," Tim said as he tried to massage away the remains of the headache. "Theoretically, if Magicka is something heavily present in the environment here, like in the air you breathe or the food and water you eat, native people would be passively absorbing Magicka since the day they were born. Since I'm not from here, I've only been taking in Magicka for a few weeks at most, so I'm starting at a disadvantage." Tim couldn't help the edge of disappointment to his voice.
Lucien smiled reassuringly at him, though. "Well, fortunately with time and practice, that shouldn't be the case for long. It's a known phenomenon that the more spells a mage learns and practices the larger their natural pool of Magicka grows. There are also potions and enchantments that can be used to artificially boost a mage's mana pool as well."
Tim smiled a little. "So it is like exercising a muscle. That's good to know."Â
"Indeed," Lucien agreed with a nod. "Let's have you rest for a bit, and then you can check your Magicka pool to see if there's enough to practice with later."
The sun was halfway across the sky when unexpectedly their carriage came to a halt.
"Damn it," the carriage driver cursed.
"What's going on, Bjorlam?" Lucien asked.
The Nord shook his head. "The damned bandits are still occupying the Valtheim Towers," he spat out in frustration as he pointed to the two stone towers coming up ahead with a bridge that spanned the river. "Last time I came by here, the bandits demanded a one hundred Septim 'toll' for me to pass without getting mugged. I'd hoped by now Whiterun's guards would've run these bastards off, but I guess they haven't made it this far east yet. The moment those thieves see all the mead I have, they'll demand that along with the Septims." Bjorlam sighed. "I'm sorry fellas, but I think I might not have a choice but to turn back to Whiterun to fetch the guards or hire one or two of the Companions."
"What?" Lucien squawked. "No! We can't go back now! It took half a day just to get this far!"
As Lucien argued with Bjorlam, Tim was peering at the towers and bridge between them. "One... Four... Six..." He squinted "Maybe seven?"
At that, Lucien and Bjorlam had stopped arguing and had turned their attention onto him, the carriage driver with confusion and the scholar with a frown.Â
"Seven what?" Lucien asked Tim suspiciously.
"Bandits, of course," Tim replied as he checked to make sure he had some potions in his belt pouches and added a few metal throwing stars he'd had the blacksmith in Whiterun make for him before they left the city to a simple leather holster that was strapped to his right thigh.
"Wait... You're not going to--"
Tim had grabbed his new metal quarterstaff and hopped off the back of the cart. "I needed to stretch my legs anyways. Might as well clear out the garbage while I'm at it." He looked to other two men. "Why don't you both stay here? I'll wave you over once I've cleared them out."
Bjorlam looked at him like he was crazy, and Lucien's expression was laced with concern. "Are you sure, Tim? I can come along to help."
Tim shook his head. "I feel better than I have in months and honestly I need to figure out where my baseline is now that I'm healthy. This is the perfect chance."
"Your baseline?"
Tim's smiled in a coy way before he started making his way to the Towers on foot.Â
Ten minutes later, Lucien and Bjorlam were watching with amazement as commotion erupted at the Tower. Tim had quickly taken out the three bandits that had been guarding the first tower and was now making his way across the bridge towards the second. Though some of the bandits in the other tower tried to snipe him with arrows from the other side, Tim managed to either deflect those arrows with spins from his quarterstaff or dodged them with effortless grace even as he attacked the two bandits that were in the middle of the bridge. The bandits on the bridge seemed utterly outclassed, and frankly Tim seemed to be toying with them before he sent them flying down to the waters of the river below with a few well placed blows and kicks. The moment he was close enough to the second tower, the young man sent two of his new throwing stars flying at the remaining bandits. One bandit got tagged by the sharp metal star on the back of his hand and howled in pain before he could send another arrow flying. The other had the string to his bow sliced through, rendering it absolutely useless. They both stared at Tim warily.
"Okay fellas! This is going to end one of two ways!" Tim yelled at them warningly. "Either you two take a dive--" he pointed to the river with his staff. "--Or I am coming over there to beat you down and throw you in! Either way, you're both going for swims. Which is it going to be?!"
One of the bandits decided to take his chances. They pulled a sword out and tried to rush Tim while he was still on the bridge. Unfortunately for then, Tim could see the attack coming a mile away and the smile that lit up his face was practically feral. "The fun way it is then," he muttered as he held his staff in a ready position.
He let the bandit get close enough to try and get a swing on him. Unfortunately for the bandit, Tim's reach and momentum with the metal staff was far greater than the sword. Tim met the bandit's sword with a downward swing of his staff. The sword was immediately parried with enough force to disarm the attacker completely and the unfortunate bandit found the end of Tim's staff was aimed squarely at his face. A quick thrust forward was all it took for Tim to knock the man off balance, and a flashy flying tornado kick sent the bandit completely off the bridge before he even realized what was going on.Â
Once that bandit was in the river, Tim looked pointedly at the last one standing. Wisely, the final bandit decided to take the dive himself.
As soon as Tim was certain the towers were cleared, he stood there on the bridge in a bit of a daze. That fight was child's play compared to what he used to deal with back in Gotham. The bandits were clearly not skilled fighters, firearms were not a threat he had to worry about in this place, and bad luck for them he was completely healthy to boot. All in all it was a pretty fun exercise for him.Â
But still... something about that fight and its aftermath felt odd to him, like something more was out of place or forgotten. He didn't realize it until he lifted a hand to wipe the sweat from his brow. Then the thought struck him out of the blue, and he froze.Â
He wasn't wearing a mask.
Here he was in this strange world. He was fighting with all the skills and strengths he had developed as a child soldier of Gotham, first as Robin, then Red Robin.Â
However, Timothy Drake-Wayne wasn't supposed to be a fighter. He name and face was that of a teenager from a wealthy set of families. A child of privilege and influence. Tapped to lead the family business, even ahead of his older adopted siblings and the younger biological son of his father. His civilian identity was supposed to be a separate person from his vigilante one. Never were the two supposed to intersect.
And yet, at an intersection is where he found himself. Tim's civilian name and face had collided with his vigilante identity, strengths and skills. Even if he had a mask to wear, there was no real reason to do so here. But he still had to fight, both to survive and to safeguard those under his protection in the moment, he realized as he watched the carriage with Lucien approach the towers.
And on top of that he was now learning magic as well as trying to find answers to this whole Dragonborn mystery that was swirling around him.Â
Who was he now?
"That was amazing to behold!" the carriage man said as Tim emerged from the first tower, a satchel full of recovered valuables from the bandits stash slung over his shoulder. "The way you took out all those bandits, just on your own! I've never seen anyone fight like that before!"Â
The Nord's smile grew even wider as Tim handed him a bag of Septims. "There's probably a bit more than a hundred Septims here, but you don't mind, right?" Tim smiled and graciously accepted Bjorlam's profuse thanks.
"Are you alright?" Lucien asked Tim made his way to the back of the cart.
Tim nodded. "Yeah. I think so." He hopped in and settled in before Bjorlam set the cart in motion again.
"While it was amazing to see you fighting in peak condition, I couldn't help but notice you seem a little troubled after it was all said and done," Lucien observed. "Did something happen at the towers we weren't able to see?"
"No," Tim said with a dismissive shrug. "Just thought of a question I don't have any answers to yet."
"Anything I can help with?"
Tim smiled and deflected. "Actually, I think I banged up my knuckles a bit on those bandits. Might be the perfect chance to practice that healing spell. Can you show me again how to cast it?"
Lucien shook his head with a sigh. "Sure. Let's take it from top."
NOTE: Though Tim has a lot of hand-to-hand combat experience, the longer he stays in Skyrim the more I see him taking up magic as his primary go-to for offense and defense. While growing up in Gotham he wasn't the best student and even dropped out of high school due to his vigilante lifestyle, here in Skyrim the study of magic is something he can dive into whole-heartedly. The subject matter is fascinating and the practical applications both in combat and even daily life are nearly endless. I don't see him ever going full blow magic-only. Sometimes, you just need to hit something with a blunt/sharp weapon or a clenched fist, and I don't see Tim ever really giving up the protection of at least a suit or several of light armor for cloth robes, no matter how enchanted they are.
I'm also using the mod "Carriage and Ferry Travel Overhaul" (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/8379) that allows my characters to hire a carriage that actually transports them overland from one destination to another, and allows for stopping and starting inbetween those locations. I'm trying not to use the Fast Travel function unless absolutely necessary so that I can include more opportunities for role-play as my characters are journeying.
Finally, I am also using a pair of mods in conjunction that allow for the use of throwing weapons (specifically in this case throwing stars - because Red Robin): Throwing Weapons Skills & Perks Tree (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/39499) and True Spear Combat (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/78347?) which adds the throwing starts among other weapons you can throw. This same mod author also made the Spears Skills and Perks Tree I'm using for Tim's quarterstaff fighting (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/99303?).

Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4 - Part 5Â - Part 6 - Part 7
The scream that caught in your throat came out as nothing more than a clipped sob and a whisper of air. Frozen in place and time like a marble statue. What was standing before you was impossible. Everyone had heard the stories, the quick hushed warnings not to speak of the White Thing in the Woods too loud lest its attention be drawn. And despite what you knew about the changing moods of the forest, you didnât buy into it. It was all bullshit just to keep kids from getting lost in the thicket of trees.
Fables.
Urban legends.Â
Fairy Tales.Â
Thatâs all they were.Â
The White Thing was no more real than the Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy or Santa Claus.Â
It wasnât that you thought yourself too smart to believe in such things, youâd simply taken for granted just how old those Woods were. The Americaâs were still young, a few hundred years of Colonised society was enough to make a young girl forget that these lands had been here since the beginning. And something lived deep in the underbelly of the wilderness, where even the most foolish or brave-hearted person dare not venture.Â
It was a beast, massive and filling the space of your vision to the edges. The Thing was so much taller than you, even as it crouched on legs too long and layered with lean muscle; incredible antlers sprouted from its skeletal head like moss covered tree limbs. Sunken eyes set in their deep black sockets as if it was the void looking back at you. Pallid and worn flesh stretched too tight over the unnaturally thin and long bones of its body, seen through the long mangy white locks that hung from itâs skull. Sharp teeth the length of your palm sprung from itâs elongated skeletal snout, yellowed and rust colored from age and use; able to cleave muscle and fat from bone like slicing through butter. Thick mists of air hung heavy as it breathed, and a curious rumble from deep within rolled out of its mouth as it looked you over. You, this pitiful little creature, helpless and paralyzed by fear and disbelief.Â
If there were any doubts before they were dashed now. You were going to die.Â
Two things were going to happen. First, you were going to disappear, the Police would put together a short, and limited search party. Theyâd search through part of the forest, not venturing very far, superstition running too deep in their DNA. The search for you would be called off within a week, and you would vanish into history as nothing more than the face of yet another Missing Girl. Secondly, knowing full well that you played with fire and were burned, the townsfolk would use your death as a cautionary tale to warn other youth to keep in line. To not be the stupid girl that disappeared in the trees. If only sheâd heeded her Daddy when he told her to stay clear of the Woods to the North she might still be alive. You would become a myth.
Seconds turned to decades as The White Thing watched you tremble. Tears spilled down your cheeks freezing to the skin at your jaw in the icy air. It tilted its head, leaning forward on one of itâs four boney arms with taloned hands large enough to crush your skull like a grape if it wanted to. You couldnât breathe.
It sniffed the air around you, as if it could pick up the scent of your terror. It was close enough that you could smell the stench of death pouring from itâs clammy skin. Heart hammering away in your chest you thought for sure it might explode and kill you before this Thing sunk its teeth into your soft flesh. If you were lucky thatâs what would happen.
The White thing extended a hand to you, a misty green stone in itâs palm with a symbol carved in it. An offering. Your horror turned to curiosity and confusion, but you were too frightened to move or do anything about your confliction. Moments ticked by agonizing in their pace, years might have passed already. When it finally moved your whole body jerked away on instinct, but it simply placed the stone on the ground, and backed away. And like that it vanished into the mist and ticket of trees just as it had come, like a dream. Or nightmare.Â
The icy chill dissipated making way for the warmth of late summer, and the trees parted again letting streams of golden light pour through the canopy. Birds began to chirp and the weight sitting on your chest fell away. Suddenly you could breathe again. The moment your limbs regained their use you took off through the woods, tearing through the trees as fast as your legs could carry you, not bothering to stop until youâd broken through the treeline and into your house slamming your bedroom door behind you.Â
You hid your torn and dirty clothes far into the back of your closet, as if you could will away an evidence of what had just taken place. If you believed it was a dream, a hallucination, some trick of the mind then you could carry on with your life. Just like everyone else. Like nothing had ever happened
What did just happen?
What happened was impossible. Absurd. Lunacy. Delusion. Absolute nonsense. Monsters simply could not be real.
The tightness in your chest gripped your lungs like a vice threatening to cave you in and destroy you from the inside out. There was no way you could go back to normal. What youâd just witnessed upended everything you ever knew. Everything you had been certain of once before.Â
What else was out there? What else existed in the shadows? Lurking in the dark waiting for the right moment to pounce. Four hours ago you were certain of many things: There was nothing in the woods. The Tooth Fairy wasnât real. Poltergiest was just a movie, and above all there was nothing to be afraid of in the woods.
You went to bed that night with your eyes locked on your window, blinds and curtains drawn, waiting. Waiting for the whispers to begin and the knocking. After the adrenaline had finally left your bones chattering, exhaustion kicked in and sleep eventually took you.Â
When you woke in the morning you couldnât help but be relieved, maybe it had just been a bad dream after all. You were in one piece, in the safety of your bedroom, all windows, doors, fingers and toes in place. You were going to do all you could to forget it. Although you would never venture through the woods again.
Kicking your legs over the bed and planting your feet on the floor you stretched your arms out over your head, tensing and cracking at the joints. You let out a satisfied groan and huffed a sigh as you pushed disheveled hair from your face. Rubbing the sleep from your eyes you walked down the hall and turned to the living room staring for the kitchen. Absolutely starving, the most heavenly thing you could think of was a packet of pop tarts that had your name in it.Â
You snagged a bag and cast a glance at the clock on the stove reading 8:18 am. Usually everyone was up by now. Your little brothers were under no circumstances ones to miss Saturday morning cartoons. Mom was usually piddling around, or working on a quilt sheâd never finish, and Dad no doubt would be outside already and under the hood of that old Mustang. The silence and stillness of the house as you moved through its rooms made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, it was never this quiet on a Saturday morning. What stopped you in your tracks like slamming into a wall was your bookbag. The one youâd dropped in the maze of trees, sitting on the coffee table in the living room, as if it had been there the entire time.
Pulse raced, and blood pumped furiously through your veins as you slowly reached out a hand picking up the bag you thought youâd surely never see again. A little green stone with a marking in the middle dropped from your bag to the coffee table, and your blood turned to ice.
The crushing realization set in along with that black shroud of doom you couldnât shake. Your legs moved before your brain could process, carrying you down the hall like a doll on a string. You swung the door open to your brothersâ room where carnage painted the walls a sticky dark red. Frozen to the spot, you couldnât scream, all you could do was let your eyes trail over the mutilated remains of your younger siblings.
Eyes snapped open as you jolted from your sleep. Itâd been more than a decade but youâd never really left the woods of that sleepy town. That shadow had followed your every step since, haunting you, lurking in the back of your mind and biding itâs time. It was the Washington State forests that reminded you of the thick wilderness of West Virginia, of home. The same thing happened in Michigan, the Wendigo. Dense woods were more than enough to trigger what youâd done your best to tuck away. Every hunter has an origin story, most arenât born to it. Most have paid a devastating price for the knowledge of what lives in the dark. You were no different than any of the rest of them, but unlike most of them who found a place in the violence and anonymity, this life gave you no pleasure.
The blood thirsty look in a man's eye is unmistakable, and is a trait shared among a vast majority of hunters. First itâs fueled by vengeance, then itâs something to fill the void until you learn to hate the things you hunt, and killing them brings you a release you couldnât otherwise find. But for you it was a job, a disgusting one that youâd rather not have been the one to do, but if not you, then who? Some other poor girl who wandered into the wrong place? Truth was you couldnât have lived with yourself if you left the supernatural for others to deal with who might not be as lucky or well prepared as you.
Your eyes dropped to the floor to see an empty mat and blankets where Sam must have slept overnight. He was an early riser but dawn wasnât for hours stillt, maybe he couldnât sleep either. Letting out a sigh you shut your eyes and rolled away from the edge of the bed to the middle on your side as the throb of a headache began to set in and the world tilted around like a weeble wobble. You were still half drunk, and felt like youâd gone four rounds with a brick wall. When you opened your eyes again a shock of breath caught in your throat to find that you werenât as alone as youâd thought.Â
Sam lay stretched out on his back, an arm tucked under his pillow and propping up his head, looking something like a painting in the darkness before Sunrise. A peaceful person he was not, but in that moment it might have fooled you that he could be. So often his brow was furrowed in thought or concentration, his broad shoulders tense with such worry that he rarely looked comfortable. Seeing him asleep was nothing new, but being able to relish in his image without interruption and so close was. He was right there, you could feel the heat radiating from him, seeping through the sheets. You could touch him, you could reach out and touch him. Trace your fingers along the sharp line of his jaw, and down the length of his throat like youâd imagined doing hundreds of times. You could press your lips to his cheek and curl his long silky hair around your fingers. You could. He was right there and you were still tipsy, less inclined to listen to the practical side of your brain.
There was no telling how he ended up in bed with you. Last thing you remembered was being too drunk to stand up on your own, and in times like those you were prone to putting your foot in your mouth. It would have taken a flash in his eyes for the secrets youâd been keeping to spill out of your mouth like a burst dam. It would have taken a grin to his lips and a dimple to let loose the fact that you wanted him. He wouldnât have taken you up on your offer, not with you being so intoxicated but you must have done something right to bring him to your bed.
You could have watched him breathe forever. The world could have caved in around you and everything fell to ruin, but it wouldnât have mattered, because he was just so close. Worries melted away just by sheer proximity, and the nightmare you had just roused from fell away with the rest of your problems. If there was one silver lining to the life you lead, it was Sam. Sure the hunting evil, saving people and all that gave the occasional warm fuzzies, but that was expected of you. It was your job. It was thankless and messy and scary and frankly you hated every second of it. There were things youâd planned on doing with your life. Places youâd planned on exploring, people youâd planned on meeting. You had your eye on being a Surgeon, Cardiac, the best the field had ever seen. You had colleges in mind, and the determination to make it happen.
How quickly life changes.
If you had been told at fifteen that this would be your life, youâd have laughed. Never in a million years would you have guessed that youâd live the rest of your life as a Professional Ghost Popper, on the road, in shitty motels and surviving on gas station hot dogs. Though it wasnât all bad. There was Sam. He waltzed into your life like a breath of fresh air. A kindred spirit. A sliver of hope where there was none. He wanted out too, he only mentioned t it a few times, and usually inebriated, but it was enough. He didnât like the job any more than you did, but youâd both been doing it so long you couldnât imagine life outside of it. It was that fear of the unknown that kept you both in your safe spaces. If there was any reason to leave the shelter of the dark, it was Sam.
He shifted in his sleep with a small sigh, his head falling to the side and into the stream of silver moonlight, and there as no fighting the need to reach out and touch his face. Fingertips ghosted over the line of his jaw, resting softly at his chin where your eyes fell to his lips, rosy, soft and parted. You thought of the women lucky enough to know what his lips tasted like. Were they sweet like he was? Intoxicating?Â
The screen on his phone lit up on the nightstand as the time ticked over to 3:30 and his alarm began to sound. You dropped your hand away, and Sam let out a remorseful groan as he rolled on his side and reached a long arm over you to the nightstand to hit snooze. His head hit the bed and he was out again, arm left to drape over you, heavy and warm. Trying to pull your arm free he stirred again, his arm wrapping around your back and pulling you to him as his nose nuzzled into your shoulder.Â
The swell in your chest was nearly drowning you, it was exactly where youâd always wanted to be, and the one place youâd never allow. Maybe⌠maybe just for a minute you could allow it. The scent of cinnamon and vanilla and coffee, and the feel of his lips against your shoulder took over your senses. Youâd have given anything to stay just like that forever.
Your fingers slipped through silky tresses, and long eyelashes fluttered open at the touch. The sunflowers in his eyes, even in that dim light, took your breath away.
âGood morning,â you whispered. A smile curled his lips and created that perfect dimple in his cheek. Not quite awake he let himself sink around you breathing in the natural perfume of you, and the warmth of your skin, soft like butter and better than heâd dreamed. Only he wasnât dreaming. The alarm hadnât woken him like it was supposed to, but you wrapped in his arms certainly did. He told himself that heâd keep his distance, he wasnât going to encroach on your space. The last thing a drunk girl wants to wake up to is a guy in her bed. But when he turned his eyes up to meet yours, and a lazy smile graced your lips he eased.
âYouâre still drunk arenât you?â He asked.
âNo,â you answered nodding your head âyes.â He replied with an amused snicker and pulled his arm away, stopping at your hip when you didnât move away. Youâve looked at him with those bedroom eyes like that before. A few times. You were drunk each time. When you were sober you were well composed, only allowing yourself to get but so close. When you had a few you let your guard down, just a little, just enough to get a peek over the wall. Heâd seen you drunk and on the prowl, and while that was certainly a sight to behold, you were different when you were alone with him.Â
With him you were vulnerable in a way you couldnât be sober, when the girl who had a rock collection in her youth came out. The girl who read The Silmarillion annually, and taught herself to speak, read and write in Elvish. The girl who hates raisins, and catches spiders to set them loose outside instead of killing them. The girl he wanted to get to know more than heâd wanted to know anyone. Youâd be three doubles and four beers in, and that look would flash across your eyes. Cheeks flush with drink, eyes half lidded and looking only at him. Then your lips would curl into a smile, and it was almost impossible to resist. Each new day with you proved harder than the last to find a reason why it was a bad idea to be with you.
âRight, and Iâm the Pope.â He snarked, as he pulled himself away from your touch and sitting up, regretting not staying put longer almost immediately.Â
And the moment was over, back to business as usual in an instant. The pang in your chest was miserable. Swinging your legs over the bed you stood up stretching your arms over your head and waiting for the room to stop spinning.
âSo, uhm, guess the floor wasnât as comfy as you thought?â You said, kicking the pile of blankets.
âYeah. Something like that.â He said. You didnât remember.Â
Sam heard the thud of your body hitting the floor, finding you in a heap when he yanked the b
athroom door open. Gathering your limp frame in his arms he checked your head for blood, and grateful to find youâd missed the nightstand. Long fingers smoothed hair from your face still flush with drink, and a little paler than usual. Sam had seen you black out drunk before, but heâd never seen you pass out before, the cooking class must have been torture.
The way you settled in his arms as he lifted you was perfect. The last time heâd held you like that you were holding your guts in and bleeding out from a stabbing after a hunt went sideways. The color was draining from your face to pour down your stomach. You were fighting so hard to stay awake, even as your lips turned blue and your eyes lolled to the back of your head. The teeth in your head had begun to chatter so hard he thought they were going to shatter, but you kept talking, the whole time. Raving about how the rampant uncheck misogyny running through the fabric of our culture affects young girls on fundamental levels since birth. The more you talked, the angrier you got, the longer you stayed awake. It was all you could think to do to stay awake. In a less dire situation heâd have paid more attention to your tirade, but all he could do was look on you with amaze. You were the strongest woman heâd ever met in his damn life. You were still ranting when the Medical staff at the hospital took over.
This was how he wanted it to be, soft and warm, safe. The way you settled in his arms was like you were made to be there, like he was made to hold you.You were home. Sam laid you in the bed, and pulled the blankets up around you when you took hold of his hand.
âStay with me, Sam.â You said in an airy whisper, eyes still closed. Who was he to refuse? He probably should have taken longer to think about it, if he were more noble he might have, but he didnât argue when you asked him to stay. So he climbed into the bed, careful to give you more than enough space. Countless times had he wished that things were different for his life, this should have been one of them. But truth was if neither of you had become hunters odds were youâd have never met. And even though the life he lead seemed more hellish than anything else, heâd met you.Â
Silencing the alarm on his phone he couldnât help but let his eyes wander over you as you stretched, the way your hair fell, bedhead messy and lovely against your neck begging for his hands to touch
âOh, I found out where Mr. Lonely is buried. I figure we can go salt and burn the body before the Sun is up, come back, take a nap then hit the road.â You suggested.
âYou donât want to stay for Wine tasting?â He snarked.
âPreferably not, but if we have to then Iâm just going to stay drunk today.â You answered, and he grinned.
âWe should probably still do an EMF sweep.â
âReally? Canât we just torch the corpse and call it a night?â You pouted as you watched him move around the room to gather clothing to change into. He stopped to ponder at the bathroom door before giving a nod. It was late, or incredibly early, you were still trashed and both of you only got a couple hours of shut eye. There was no reason not to just get the bottom line done.
âFine, we can skip it, but we have to stay tonight to make sure itâs done.â He compromised. Sitting in a chair to tie your boots you paused to consider if skipping part of an investigation was worth sticking around for another single night. You turned your eyes up to Sam who stood so tall and broad, and firm, you had your answer.
Yes. Definitely yes. The case would be closed, youâd get to drink, and actually enjoy a little bit of relaxation- though this would not have been your first choice. And it would just be you and Sam, nothing to worry about other than simply being.Â
âI agree to your terms.â You said pulling a flask of whiskey from one of your bags. Hair of the dog, you were going to power through the oncoming hangover. You had an empty day ahead of you that you were going to fill with Sam, your enthusiasm was genuine. âGet dressed and lets go defile a grave!â
Hiking at night wasnât something you wanted to make a habit of doing. The sky was clear, and the Moon was particularly bright which was great until you hit the treeline where the path to the Graveyard was. The black chasm of the trees swallowed up the silvery Moonlight till there was nothing left but pitch. Then your fear of dense woods sprung up again like a steadily increasing anxiety riddled game of whack-a-mole. There was nothing to be afraid of, you had flashlights, Sam, and you were strapped. Your brain wasnât giving you a reprieve however, you kept expecting to turn your head and see the skeletal bloody face of the White Thing to appear in the darkness between the trees, ready to spring out and finish the job it started more than a decade ago. A cold chill slid up your spine sending a dread filled shudder down your body. With each step you had to remind yourself that you werenât back home in West Virginia, you were on the other side of the country, in Washington, it wasnât going to find you after more than a decade. You hoped at least. If the White Thing wasnât in the woods there was something else in there with eyes that stalked your movements, putting you on edge, and making you paranoid. Trepidation rattled you, and you found yourself stepping closer to Sam as you walked, finding relief and comfort with each brush of his arm against yours.Â
It was a 20 minute hike, in the pitch black wild wilderness, at 3 oâclock at night, but once you hit the gravesite it was worth it. The site sat on a cliffside at the top of the mountain, just a small clearing in the trees, what could have knocked the wind out of you was the most magnificent view of the peaks and valleys of the mountain range, stretching as far as the eye could see. More stars hung in the sky than you had seen in a very long time, no light pollution, no noise, just the calm quiet. No wonder Wellington wanted his family buried there. You allowed yourself a few moments to soak it all in before setting to work.
Stabbing the spade end of your shovel into the pile of loose dirt, you dropped your butt down to sit, legs dangling into the large hole before you. With a sigh you wiped sweat from your brow as you rifled through the pockets of your jacket for a short, partially smoked joint.Â
âIsnât it a little early for that?â Sam asked from inside the hole, a teasing grin on his face as he looked up at you. Answering him with a shrug you lit up and took a long drag. While he didnât care much for smoking in general, it was difficult to tear his eyes away from the smoke wafting and curling in transparent tendrils spouting from your lips.
âItâs never too early or late for this.â You answered offering it to him, he declined with a shake of his head, quickly setting back to the task at hand- digging up a corpse. An old, rotten, decayed, mouldering corpse. If you could rate aspects of your job in order, digging up bodies was at the bottom of the list. Though to be honest, there werenât many things that you did like about the job. There was the bonus of a flexible schedule, and the option to travel, and there was, of course, the fact that your co-workers were a little more than easy on the eyes. But there were no tax exemptions, or paid expenses, no benefits, fuck not even a reliable salary. It wasnât a job you did because you wanted to, you detested almost everything about it. But someone had to do it.
No one wants to tell you how much effort is involved in digging up a six foot deep grave armed with nothing but a couple of old rusty shovels and sheer willpower. No one wants to tell you how long it takes either. The Sun was going to be up in the next hour or so, and the cover of darkness was a necessary precaution when it came to gravedigging. When Samâs shovel struck something hard and hollow you could not have been more thrilled. Your eyes met his, as he moved to get a better angle.Â
Sam jammed the spade of his shovel between the lid of the coffin and the side prying it open with creaking wood and a crack of relief as the lid came loose.Â
â...The hell?â Samâs face twisted in confusion as he lifted the top, hazel eyes moved back to you as he shoved the lid to the side of the hole revealing an empty coffin.
âWell that canât be a good sign.â You announced, just as puzzled as Sam.
âYouâre sure he said he was buried here?â
âNo Sam, I just made it up so we could pointlessly dig a hole in the middle of the night for fun.â You sarcastic eyes at him.
âHey, I know how much you love digging holes. So if heâs not here-â
Then just where the fuck is he?â

Tiny Time ch. 1- The Old Cave
*Tagging people who comment on my original post or other people I want to bug @aceofspadeswiththedragoneggs @wildpuppa @pinkittwice @eleventhspy @jjpony @sillus ....:enjoy*
Ever hero has secrets and the heroes of hyrule are no exception. Every adventures brings pain in some form or another, itâs something that is bound to happen. Adventures bring a sense of freedom and wonder of what you can find; however sometimes itâs better if you never found anything.
All the Links had their fair share of adventures and trauma that came with said adventures. Some were better off then other, Wind life was pretty much able to go back to normal while Twilight lost someone he loved. It became an unspoken rule not to push the other Links into talking about something they didnât want. Everyone has secrets after all.
However that never stopped people from telling small things about their adventures and putting two and two together. Legend mention his uncle from early in his life but never brought him up again when talking about his adventures; everyone assumed the older family member had passed so no one brought it up. Sky hated the word demon and demise; no one knew why but they just didnât bother to bring it up again. Four didnât like talking about shadow links, everyone assume it must had been from one of his battles. Everyone had learned small thing about the other heroes, what to avoid and how their life is effected by their adventures.
Then their is Time.
Time was the nickname given to the oldest Link, both physically and mentally way older then all the others. He had many adventures however for some reason he never spoke of them. Time like to mess with the little group of heroes, always telling them outlandish stories. However the problem came from the group not knowing if Time was telling the truth or not when it came to his adventures; I mean he claimed to fought the moon. It didnât stopped Time from being part of the group, he was a valuable member of them team. However one problem came from it.
The knew nothing about his past.
With how he spoke they never knew if what he said was fake or not. Some had idea of his adventures because he knew who ganon was unlike sky. Wind was convinced that he was the hero of myth that was told throughout the island and why he had to wear that horrible inch green tunic when he turn 12. Twilight was convinced he was the lost hero shade that helped him in the wood; the armor and his voice only confirming his suspicions. Legend was convinced he was the hero who lost to ganon. Mentally he argue with himself over that, as he knew the hero was only a child and died but their was just something off about Time. Legend never like thinking about the idea that their strong and fearless leader would lose his life to the hands of that beast ganon. Of course none of them went and talk to Time or the other about their theories; they knew they wouldnât get a straight answer. The only thing they know for sure about Time was that he is married to Malon and thatâs it.
Itâs still pretty good. The group got along (mostly) without having to know every detail of their past and Time was still their amazing leader. Nothing was wrong.
No one was suffering.
Right?
They had been in Wildâs hyrule some some time now, which was odd honestly, while switches would happen at random they seemed to follow an idea of the heroes could only spend so many day in one hyrule. However that wasnât the case for this right now as they had been in Wildâa hyrule for about two week; however none of them really complain happy for the stability for once in their chaotic lives. Then Wild and Hyrule offer something.
âWe found a cave. Want to go exploring?â Wild offer the group.
The group went along with the idea. While it normal for Wild and Hyrule to do the dungeon crawls having everyone came seemed like a way to break up the boring feeling that was brought on from being in one hyrule for so long. So they grabbed their supplies as they all headed off into the direction.
Wild begins telling the group about the cave he had found. He doesnât remember it being their at all, even after he got his memories back. Nearly his house to the west had always been baron, nothing interesting was ever that way. He just happens to stumble apond it with Hyrule and while they were itching to explore something was off about the cave. It wasnât there before but figured something or someone must had made it appear.
So the group of Links finally found the cave and were about to head inside. However Hyrule pulled Time aside in a panic.
âTheir is something off with that cave...I can feel itâ Hyrule said in a panic before silence fell over the two. Mentally Hyrule was screaming, his magic was an off limits topic, what will Time said? Will he doubt him?
âWhatâs wrong with the cave? Is it dark magic?â Time asked and Hyrule breath a sign of relief. Time voice held a concerned tone to it.
âNo itâs not dark magic. It not li-â Hyruleâs words disappeared in his throat. Heâs never told anyone beside Legend that he sense the magic around them; heâs never told anyone about Time. A dark and powerful magic clung to the leader, definitely weaker then what they faced but that fact was still that it was still there. âItâs not like Ganonâs or any shadow Links. Itâs not dark, but offâ he said.
The silence was deafening as Hyrule watch Time process the information. Finally Time let out a sigh.
âI have a feeling if we donât go into the cave Wild will explore it alone and with what you said I donât want him going aloneâ Time explained while Hyrule nodded in agreement. If they even mention dark magic to Wild he would definitely want to explore then. âKeep you defense up and stay by meâ.
Hyrule didnât think that would work seeing as he would likely be focus on the power that sticks to Time but didnât bother to say anything. He didnât need to give the group a reason to be worried.
So they silently went into the cave. Soon their lanterns werenât of use and the cave was filled with a ery blue glow. As they wonder further they began to see writing on the walls.
âDoes anyone know what this language is?â Wild asked to the group. Many shakes their heads saying ânoâ.
Time kept quiet, he could hear a tiny voice in the back of his head whispering that he knew the language. But how could he? Heâs never been to Wildâs hyrule before, he shouldnât know any language that was written here.
Finally they enter a big room, torches with blue flames lined the ways illuminated the room in that ery blue glow. The same symbols repeated in the same language. The was a statue in the middle of the room, it looks to be of a male spirit of some sort. It easily took up a lot of area. Why was it so familiar to Time.
â.....spirit of familiesâ
Who said that? Time looked around to see all the Link investigating something different. All except for Hyrule who has clung onto his sleeve the whole time they were in the cave. A strange sound filled the air, and the Links began looking around.
âAlright who touched what?â Legend asked slightly annoyed as the sound got louder and louder. No one had an answer as the voice got louder and louder; realizing it was coming from the statue the Links moved away from it.
Time and Hyrule were in the back, close to the exit, when finally the statue you screamed. No one could understand it, well everyone except for Time.
âYour chose to keep your suffer in silence! So I cursed you to the point of thy weakest!â The voice screamed out. It shot out what look like blue lightning and Time did what came naturally.
Time shoved Hyrule aside making sure the blue wouldnât hit the clinging hero. The lighting sent the older hero flying back.
âTime/Pops!!â Several voices called out at once.
Thankfully Wild has been observant, noticing the blue gem on top of the statue and shooting it. When it shattered the blue glow was lost and the room faded into darkness. Thankfully the other lit up the area with torches before turning to their fallen leader.
âTime!â
âPops!!â
âAre you ok?!â
Several voice screamed at Time at once. Time brought himself back up to a sitting position.
âIâm fineâ Time said shooing the others away as he stood up.
âYouâre not fine. You just got zapped by a statueâ Twilight said going over to grab the older hero.
âI donât feel any differentâ Time states before his eyes land on Hyrule âHyrule, magic wise did it do anything to meâ
Hyrule was quiet for a second, his eyes seemed to narrow as if he was looking for something.
âNo, I donât see anything strangeâ Hyrule said but Time could tell their was uneasiness in his voice; as if he wasnât 100% sure himself.
âWell letâs get out of this caveâ Legend said.
âI for once 100% agreeâ Warrior pipped up.
With that being said the Link maybe their way out of the cave and started to head back. Wild made the comment of looking for answers as what the writing was and other stuff. However all agreed that they shouldnât go back into the cave alone.
Time however wasnât paying attention, the only thing that really had Time focus was how sleepy he was. He hasnât felt this sleepy sense he was finally able to help save Termina; the day of repeating time and such finally hitting him. Time let out a yawn.
âWow Pops, to much excitement for your old bones?â Warrior said earning himself a smack from Twilight.
âIâm tiredâ was all Time said his mind still in a daze.
As they finally enter Wildâs house they group went back to relaxing, but Time was so tired.
Wild offered up his room as if was further away allowing the older hero to get so sleep that was so desperately needed.
Time went upstairs with his bags and shut the door, taking off his amor and finally hitting the bed to fall into a dreamless sleep.
The other stayed downstairs. Wild has started a meal of Fried Wild green, Time favorite and a slight apology for dragging him into this mess. Sky has taken to caving something while Wind and Four watched. Legend and Hyrule talked together in another language and Twilight and Warrior were expecting their gear for the next battle. Most had gotten lost into what they were doing before realizing it was 12, lunch time.
âHey twil can you go wake up Pops?â Wild asked as Twilight got up from his seated and headed into the direction of the room.
âGah I hate that Pops eats like a rabbit. Like I understand it but why do we have to eat like one?â Warriors comments.
âBecause Time got zapped so of course Iâm going to make his favorite foodâ Wild argued back.
Warrior looked like he was about to say something when they heard a crash from upstairs before Twilight made his way down the stairs in a panic.
âHeâs gone!â

Chapter 4: Something Bad's About To Happen

_______________________________________________
Everyone was silent, but looked at me with wide eyes.
"I KNEW IT! I knew you had to be something!", the smaller boy yelled, pointing at me.
"Something....?", I asked, sweatdropping.
"You're a girl....?", Kaminari asked surprised.
"Why are you wearing the male uniform?", Midoriya asked.
"Because, I've learned to hate skirts and dresses and frilly, unnecessary things like that.", I explain.
"Well, there's nothing wrong with what you like. If you don't like skirts and dresses, trust me, I don't either, but it's nothing wrong with that.", Jirou said.
I gave her a small smile. "Thanks."
"Well, why did you come dressing up as a guy in the first place...?", Kirishima asked.
I sighed, rubbing behind my neck. âIts...confidential. Letâs just say, I have Daddy Issues.â
I looked at everyone and some of them looked concerned, some of them even looked shocked.
Everyone got up at the sound of the lunch bell and Mina gave me a look as if to tell me, 'we'll talk about this later.'
I started to follow the rest of the girls until I got pulled back by Bakugou.
"Somehow you cease to surprise me so far.", he says with a glare.
"Should I take that as a bad thing?", I ask.
"Damn straight.", he says, letting me go and walks out.
I sighed and left for the cafeteria too.
As I got something from the vending machine, I thought back to everyone's faces.
I didn't mean to make them feel down... What a good way to start the yearâŚ
Right about the time I was gonna go see Mina, the alarm went off and panic rang out in the cafeteria.
What now....?
I headed out toward the exit, which led me to be practically drowning in a crowd of panicked teenagers.
It wasnât long before I found myself partially pinned against a wall and being jerked around.
Right before I was gonna explode on someone's ass for thrashing me, I felt someone grab my arm and pull me hard through the crowd to a less dense area.
"You okay?", a familiar redhead asks.
He blocked me against the wall in a protective gesture, grunting every time someone bumped into him.
"Do you know what's going on?", I asked throughout all the yelling.
"It's just the press! Someone must've gotten in!", he yells.
I nodded. No wonder.
Iida somehow managed to get everyone to calm down and stop moving.
"Its over with....", I say. Kirishima backs away with a smile. "Yeah. Have you eaten yet?"
I shrug. "Just a bit before all the commotion." That made him frown a little. "Well a bit won't do. Gotta eat before training. Let's go.", he says, leading me to the cafeteria.
After the commotion with the press, I started to get a bad feeling...
"Hey, Kirishima....", I say walking behind him.
"Yeah?", he answered, looking back at me.
"What if it was actually a real villain using the press as a cover-up to get in...?"
He rubbed behind his neck. "Nah, I don't think they'd let us walk around if that happened."
"I guess so. I just got this weird feeling something's gonna happen.", I say. "Well don't jinx it", he jokes.
A few days later, we were assigned to go to USJ for a training exercise.
"Line up accordingly to your class seats. Fill them up in an orderly fashion." Iida waved in a weird way.
"Dude, chill.", I say. This class rep role is really serious to him...
He turned to the inside of the bus, much to his disappointment. "No...! It's that type!"
We all looked inside the bus and snickered at his disappointment. The front part of the bus had seats on both sides of it facing each other like two sofas.
I sat next to Kaminari as everyone else followed through.
I tuned in and out as Mina, Tsuyu, Kirishima, and Midoriya started talking about their quirks.
"I generally say what's on my mind, though... Midoriya," Tsuyu announces, making us all look at her.
"Your quirk reminds me of All Might.", she says and he flinches. Huh...now that I think about it...
"Now, hold on Tsu.", Kirishima says. "All Might doesn't get hurt by his quirk."
"Yeah, that's right.", Midoriya says.
"You got a flashy quirk, Midoriya. Mine on the other hand," Kirishima raises his arm and hardens it. "Not so much."
"Aw, don't say that Kiri. It's plenty useful. I like it because it makes you seem unbreakable!", I say with a smile.
He gives me a wide sharp tooth grin. Guess he's over the issue from yesterday.
"Now if you wanna talk flashy,", he points toward Bakugou and Todoroki. "Those guys are the best bet.", he turns to me. "I've yet to see your full quirk, Homura."
I looked out the window. "And it's gonna stay that way."
"Aw, c'mon! I wanna see how you work it.", he muses.
"Yeah!", Kaminari cheers on the side of me.
I shook my head fast. "Nope!"
"Well Bakugou could never be popular, not with that temper of his.", Tsuyu chimes in.
"What the fuck!? I'll kick your ass!", Bakugou yells.
"See?", she says pointing and making me laugh.
"Well, it makes sense. We just met you and we can already tell you got the personality of burned trash filled with sewage.", Kaminari says.
"Oh wow.", I snickered.
"Fuck you! I'm gonna make your life a living hell, you little shit!!", Bakugou yells, scaring Jirou.
"Bakugou, calm down!", I say laughing.
"I'll give you something to laugh at, you Spawn!", he threatens.
We all laughed until the bus came to a stop.
We stopped right in front of the USJ as Aizawa-sensei started to speak.
"This is a different part of training. Rescue.", he looked at all of us. "It's nothing serious compared to real natural disasters, just scenarios of what could happen. Uh, 13 explain."
Uraraka and Midoriya gasp in astonishment. "13....!"
The short astronaut suit came walking up to us. "Hey, you guys! 14, 15, 18, 19....21! Okay! So, welcome USJ!"
"In our super powered society, the use of quirks are heavily restricted and monitored. It may seem that our system is a stable one, but we must never forget that it takes only one wrong move and someone's dead.", he says.
With that, he led us inside.
"Holy crap, this is like an amusement park!", Kirishima exclaimed.
"As you may know, my power is Black Hole. I can suck up anything and it turns into dust.", 13 explains. "Just like your quirks, they do not exist to hurt people."
I grimaced. "Don't worry about it, Sunako.", I hear Tomohiro say, turning my head to see him by my side. âYouâve been quiet for a while.â, I say, making him chuckle.
"With that being said, be careful and have fun!"
Aizawa-sensei looked at us. "Alright, go in there and-"
I shivered. I got a bad feeling....
"Uh...is this part of the practice....?", Kirishima asks looking down, making everyone do the same.
"Villains...!", 13 yelled. I looked down to see multiple portals opening, giving a passageway to let them in.
I saw Aizawa pull out his goggles and put them over his head.
"Aizawa-sensei, you're gonna attack!? What about your quirk limit!?", Midoriya asks.
"A hero always has more than one trick up their sleeve. Huddle up and stay back! 13, protect the kids!", Aizawa yells, putting on his goggles and launches into action.
I looked down at a certain figure who stayed by the purple portal. He had hands all over him and even on his face.
"What's his problem....?", I whispered. "They're here for something. Keep your guard up.", Tomohiro says.
"We, the Villains Alliance, have only come for one person. The symbol of peace.", the blue haired figure said. "I wonder if he'll come if we just....kill these kids..."
"These guys are idiots...", I said.
Aizawa jumped to the villains and fought like they weren't nothing.
"We gotta go!!", Kaminari yelled.
"I'm afraid I cannot allow that."
I got a shiver again as a black purple mist appeared in front of us.
I knew something was gonna happen...
"I am Kurogiri...I apologize for the short notice. We took it upon ourselves to enter UA, the base of heroes."
We all stare up at the mist hearing the voice. "Was Mr. All Might not able to attend...?"
It moved and sighed. "That aside, this is my role.", I looked up to see Kirishima and Bakugou rushing toward the mist and attacked it.
"Bet you didn't expect us to do you in before you got the chance!", Kirishima exclaims.
"To be expected. The hero world's golden eggs."
"Run you two!", 13 shouts as the mist expanded and surrounded us.
I got pushed back and lit my hand on fire to see. What did we get ourselves into...!?
"Demon Brat!!", I heard Bakugou's voice and saw him reaching for me. I reached for him but ended up transporting somewhere.
I woke up in front of the Ruins Zone to hear chuckles behind me.
"Fresh meat....", countless villains muttered.
My eyebrow twitched in annoyance. I bared my fangs, changing my form into an Oni.
"If anyone's meat, it's you idiots. I'll give you a 5 second head start to leave before I kick your asses.", I snarled, my knees wobbling as I stood.
Some of them back up but they still stay.
"Brave motherfuckers, aren't you? Fine.", I say, smirking but it quickly falls into a glare, the atmosphere grew tense. "That was your mistake."
I stomped the ground making large layers of platforms rise and fall on to them. Thank god, we were around an area where I could use dirt.
I stalked toward the rest, they backed away in fear. "Aw, don't run now...we're just getting started."
They all paled and ran away. "Punks.", I slipped out of the form, turning back. I looked around for any of my classmates nearby but no one was.
"I gotta find someone....", I muttered. Then I hear rumbles and blasts from above and I sweatdropped.
"That's gotta be Bakugou.", I say and fly up the stairs.
"SAY GOODBYE!!", I ducked out of the way of a villain being thrown my way and looked at Bakugou and Kirishima panting heavily with many villains surrounded around their feet.
"You guys okay?", I asked, walking toward them.
"Homura!", Kirishima notices me with a smile, knocking a goon out.
"You don't have a single scratch on you, Demon Brat.", Bakugou says.
"They all ran.", I say, shrugging and touching his arm, letting the heat on my hand heal his scratches and did the same for Kirishima.
"Your power's amazing, Homura. It doesn't even burn.", Kirishima grins widely, making me smile.
"Thanks.", I say, looking around at all the goons.
"We gotta have a plan to get out of here.", Kirishima says.
"You idiots can do whatever you want, I'm going after that warpy bastard.", Bakugou says, walking away.
"Huh...!? Our attacks didn't do nothing against that guy!", Kirishima says.
"And you're going alone? I think you're the only idiot here, Bakagou.", I say.
He looked over his shoulder to glare at me. "What was that...?"
"I said you're an idiot. Do I need to say it a little slower? If you go by yourself, you'll get yourself killed.", I say.
"That's the thing!", he says turning to me. "That bastard was their way in and out. So, I'm taking him down first before anything."
I felt someone's presence behind him and felt off. "Uh..."
Before I could say anything, he sent a blast downwards and revealed a knocked out enemy.
"If they're sending in weak shits like this, there's no way we can lose.", he says.
He looks so calm... "He's reliable despite being a little shit." , Tatsuo says in approval.
"So, that's what you meant. Also, when'd you become so calm and rational....? Usually you're all," Kirishima made an impression of Bakugou. "Die! Die! Die!!"
"I'm always calm and rational, you shitty haired punk!!", Bakugou yelled.
"There he is.", I say smiling.
"Both of you, fuck off!", Bakugou says.
"Okay, so, what you're saying is you believe in our classmates. That's good thinking, and that's thinking like a man, Bakugou. I'm with you.", Kirishima says excitedly.
I sigh and smile. "I guess I am too. I just hope you know what you're doing, please."
I looked outside to the rest of the USJ area to see a big creature holding a bloody Aizawa down.
I tensed and gasped softly as Kirishima put his hand on my shoulder. "You okay...?"
I just pointed down to the sight. "These sick sonuvabitches are gonna die....!", I hear Tatsuo growl.
They widened their eyes and backed away from the window.
I backed away and walked out the area and back to the middle of USJ.
"You got a plan...?", Bakugou asked.
I turned to him. "Just do what you normally do."
He just grinned widely, but that expression dropped as soon as we looked up to the entrance. And in the entrance stood All Might. He's... frowning? "Have no fear. Because I am here."
"I had a bad feeling in my stomach while I rested, but to think it was this bad....", he says coming down the stairs.
"I heard from young Iida that there were villains. But, it's all right now. Because I am here."
He rips off his tie and it flutters to the ground.
He came toward the fallen Aizawa and picked him up, carrying Midoriya, Tsuyu and Mineta away from the villains.
After ordering them to get Aizawa, All Might attacks the creature, doing a German suplex on it.
I saw how bad All Might was getting hurt and how Midoriya was rushing towards him.
"Get ready to fly.", I say to the two in front of me.
"Uh, what?"
I stomped the ground, launching them both toward the fight but they went in different ways.
I saw Midoriya reaching for the blue haired villain, but missed as Bakugou got in his way.
"Get the hell out of my way, Deku!!"
Bakugou attacked Kurogiri when Kirishima missed.
"Damn you!!", the hand villain exclaimed and I glared at him.
"I almost had him!", Kirishima yells after missing the villain.
I saw that part of that creature's body was covered in ice and I looked to my right seeing Todoroki.
"Fancy seeing you here.", I say.
"Likewise," he replied and looked toward the villain. "I heard about you bastards' plan and each of your roles. Also a scheme to kill All Might. The symbol of peace won't go down as easy as you fools."
"You guys made a big mistake.", I say smiling.
"Let's just kill them!", Tatsuo says. Let's not do that.
That being said, All Might pried himself out of the creature's hold and dashed away.
"You pinned down our revolving door..."
"This prick was never that sharp! That metal clasp you got on your body, you used to get all misty and shit just got sealed, you sneaky fuck!" Bakugou exclaims with a grin.
"That attack was never dangerous, was it? You just used that as a decoy to hide the real body!"
Kurogiri moves a little but stops as Bakugou uses small explosions on him.
"Don't you move!", Bakugou chuckles glaring down at Kurogiri. "You move so much as a twitch and I'll blow your ass up so bad that they'll be piecing you back together for weeks."
"Not very heroic, bro.", Kirishima grinned nervously.
"You've got us cornered....I have to hand it to these kids nowadays. At this point, the Villains Alliance will be a laughing stock.", the villain turns to the broken creature.
"Nomu, take care of Explosion Boy for me...."
I widened my eyes as Nomu regenerates its own body and goes after Bakugou.
"Bakugou!!", I yell, running towards it but I ended up right next to Bakugou who was also on the ground.
"You're okay...wait, how'd you get here?", I asked.
"I don't fuckin' know.", he says still on the ground, probably in shock.
I look back to see All Might had taken a hit from Nomu.
"Are you crazy...? Have you no mercy...? These are children.", All Might says.
"Mercy....?", the hand villain looks over to us and points at Midoriya. "That plain looking boy almost killed me but I need to give mercy!? Who gets to decide what's right or wrong...? Society! And that's what irritates me. You're the symbol of peace....? You gotta be kidding me. You're just the same. Youâre only here for your kicks."
"That's enough.", I say.
"It's a 6 vs. 3.", Todoroki says.
"No! You all need to leave.", All Might says.
"No can do, All Might. Can't be heroes if we just left you here.", I say.
"Yeah and you're bleeding!", Midoriya said.
"If I hadn't froze that monster, you would've most likely died.", Todoroki interjected.
"It's fine.", All Might insisted.
"Fine, let's settle this! Nomu, you go after All Might. I've got the children.", the hand villain says running towards us.
I started walking toward the hand villain but Bakugou pulled me back.
Dammit, Bakugou!
My eyes illuminated a bright scarlet color and I shot a fiery blast toward the villain.
"Dammit, Brat!!", Bakugou shouted at me avoiding the heat.
"You're the boss, right?", I ask looking at the villain. "I'll just take you down first!!", I yell running towards him, feeling myself change into a form of an Oni.
I sent a roundhouse kick toward the hand villain's face, making it collide with the hand on his face. He fell to the ground and touched my leg.
I yelled in pain after seeing the aftermath of what remained of my leg.
My pant leg torn and my calf broken and bleeding out.
I got knocked over by the sudden blast of air because of how hard All Might and Nomu were fighting.
I pulled two metal rods from the ground and threw it at the villain but missed due to All Might's fighting.
With all this air and wind going everywhere, there's no telling where my blasts could go....
"Plus....ULTRA!!!", All Might yells, finally getting rid of Nomu.
"Alright!!", I exclaimed but felt a burning sensation on my shoulder and hip.
"I told you to keep your guard up!", Tomohiro yells in my head.
I saw that the villain had his hands on me and my skin broken, leaving muscle showing. I felt an overwhelming feeling of numbness as I fell to the ground.
"You bastard!!!", I heard Bakugou's voice and gunshots before passing out from the numbing pain.
I woke up to loud, slow beeping and looked around to see that I was in a different area.
I'm in the hospital....? No... Its the nurse's office...
I looked over to my right to see Kirishima asleep in two chairs, slumped over.
"You're finally awake.", I see Tomohiro walk over to my bed.
"Yeah....", I say, startling Recovery Girl.
"You're awake."
"How long have I been out...?"
I sounded so hoarse, it hurt to even try to talk.
"6 hours. Your wounds closed up quickly." she said.
I nodded and looked over to see the sleeping duo.
"He carried you in here.", the elder woman said, pointing to a sleeping Kirishima.
"Really...?", I asked.
As expected of Kirishima to do that, but why...?
That was kinda hard to believe. "The boy's... chivalrous...", Tatsuo says, appearing at my side.
Just then, the said boy stirred and woke up.
Kirishima jumps awake and looks at me. "How're you feeling!?"
"Like I've been walking in a desert for hours. I'm dying.", I hoarse.
Recovery Girl brings me water and I sit up to down it dry.
"What about you? Is All Might okay? Is everyone okay?", I asked.
"Everyone's doing fine. Well, Midoriya still has to let his legs heal and Aizawa-sensei... he's still healing too but everyone's fine.", Kirishima says.
"Good...", I rasp, staring up at the ceiling.
He frowned a bit in worry. "Do you think you can move?"
I winced and looked at my hip that had a small scar on it.
Still sensitive... "That villain wasn't any ordinary villain.", Tatsuo says.
I shook my head. "I'm sorry I worried you."
You guys too, I should've been more careful.
"Don't worry about it.", Tomohiro says as Tatsuo grunts in agreement.
"No biggie. Just get better so we can train again!", Kirishima says with a sharp tooth smile.
I smiled back at him and got out of the bed, wincing again and gripping on to the bed sheets.
"My leg...my shoulder and hip hurts. Great.", I mutter.
"Hm...", Kirishima hums. He turns around, crouching in front of my feet. "Get on."
"Kirishima-"
"No complaints. It wouldn't be very manly of me if I let you walk home hurt, so get on.", he says.
I sighed and got on his back, careful to not hurt his back.
I held on tight as he got me right and took my bag, carrying it under me as he walked me out of the nurse's office, getting me home.

You guys are friendship goals how do you make internet friends saph
okay story time this is the progression of mine and @papesdontsellthemselves friendship (complete with pictures)
so once upon a time (actually it was november of last year) i was a Sad high school senior drowning my sorrows in my tumblr account as newsies royalty while i stressed over my college applications and auditions. most of my pastimes included 1. writing shitty fics 2. reading good fics and 3. listening to bad music from 2012. and i happened to stumble upon some newsies pics as one does by Someone called @papesdontsellthemselves or, as was listed in the bio âMikeyâÂ
nevertheless i binge read all of them at approximately 2am on a school night and probably fell asleep in ap euro the next morning. i very much liked his fics. they were slappy. and i started to stalk his account, as any normal person would.
and once or twice or several times, as any person who runs out of ideas does, he asked for prompt requests. and me, being a sad fangirl of this poor bois account, decided to send him some. (he still has one that he never answered) and he wrote a few of them. this one was my favorite go read it (i think i inspired this one)Â
and then one day i opened my tumblr acc and THIS was waiting for me:
and i think i was like KJHSJHASLHJGDSLKH WH
then you know some time went by as time does and we sort of awkwardly coexisted. i actually was within like 10 minutes of him for a college audition before we knew each other that was pretty wild.
and then
the fateful day
i was sitting in ap stats, bored out of my mind, and decided to ignore the lesson on z scores or whatever it was cause what the fuck else are you supposed to do in ap stats and go on tumblr (seriously do not take ap stats its terrible, its an acid trip, i barely passed that class) and i had a message waiting for me from the one and only @papesdontsellthemselves that said something like:
âlol sorry to bother you chief but how to you put your tag lists on your pics so they dont take forever ooo sorry!!âÂ
and i was like ssksksksjskskjsk why is tumblr royalty @papesdontsellthemselves talking to me, a lowly peasant, and i may have freaked out for a hot sec but then i responded something likeÂ
âi have it in a google doc and then hit the down arrow and the return key really fast lolâ
(only recently he revealed to me that he didnt actually give a shit about my tag list (r00d) and that he just wanted an excuse to talk to me and That was what he came up with and he screamed after he sent the message cause he was so scared. also he was in theater with his weird shoeless teacher not paying attention. weâre good students i promise.) Â
and then we got to Talking and we just didnt Stop talking? like i told him about jeff, my shitty english teacher and he told me about his theater teacher who made them do 9/11 shakespeare and we bonded and then we sent each other pictures of our dogs:Â
mikeys dog, leela (aka leeks Big Chonk) ^^
my dog, lacey ^^
and we also went through The Awkward Stage
but then
a miracle happened
twas christmas eve, about like idk 3pm and the two of us were Awkwardly Conversing as awkward internet friends do and i was getting changed for christmas eve dinner (cause my family Extra and you have to be Fancy or face the Wrath of the Elders) and I'm digging through my closet looking for something Presentable when discover The Pencil Skirt.Â
it twas a rather unsuspecting article, green wool with faint plaid stripes, and hand-me-down from some aunt, and i decided to put it on because i had limited fancy clothes and didnt wanna do a repeat from a previous year. so i added my One White Button Down Shirt and some black dance tights and called it a day.Â
so then me, being me, was messaging mikey and said (keep in mind were still practically strangers and had been barely talking for a week):
âwow i actually look kinda hot right now like maybe someone would bang me. like, I'm not into that, but I look good enough that someone might consider it.â
yes
me, an asexual, said that to a total stranger on the internet.
what were you Thinking saph.
truly, i have no idea.
but for some reason, instead of being scared away (like a normal sane person should be) mikey laughed and we began calling each other daddy. i dont know okay, it was a wild experience. I'm not sure if it actually happened.
so, my skirt became The Daddy Skirt, a tragic symbol of our strange friendship, and the two of us exited the Awkward Stage.
truly it was an exciting time:
and then we gave each other nicknames. the sappy kind not the cursed kind. mikey was bean cause he was a coffee bean and cocoa bean addict. and i was originally shrub and then bear and finally peanut. im not sure why. he isn't either.
boi also Literally guessed my real name. like straight up. and i was like âo word.â it was trippy.Â
AND THEN twas a cold february day when we decided to exchange faces. i send him a picture of me eating a christmas tree. he sent me a picture of him in his kitchen wearing sun glasses frat boy posing. truly iconic.
we also liked to look up weird things late at night and have revelations about dumb shit, as seen by these Unexplained Screenshots i have on my phone:
yes those are real screenshots
then we decided to finally talk on instagram instead of this hell site and i was exposed to mikeys finsta *shudder*
nothing much else interesting happened until: College *dun dun dunnnnnn*Â
(except for that one time i had a mental breakdown at 1am and he drove home form some party to ig call me and tell me about the time his dog ended up in solitary confinement. a true g)
so for Safety Reasons, i finally gave milky my number when i got to school and we started texting and Facetiming which was a Trip.
i also sent him a Box of Cursed Content. he tried to send the box back to me in october and it still hasn't arrived. we think it may be in antarctica.
and then we tried to coordinate to meet up like three (3) separate times before We Got Lucky, the Stars Aligned, and we held hands in the back of an a&f
(we also hugged in a nordstrom in like the Fancy Clothes Section and the lady thought we were definitely dating cause we took pics of us hugging in the fuckin mirror pillar. also i almost lost my wallet but thats another story.)
and next year our wild journey will continue (hopefully)Â
in conclusion i love mikey and this has been a sappy post

Wow, I appreciate the essay that proved no point, thank you. I wonder how you could've mistaken I meant IN ALL YOUR POSTS when all I was talking about was how you literally just talked about MasaMina in the flower post. It's more beyond me how badly you comprehended my ask. The point abut me not giving sources is so you could look it up yourself because why would I let someone copy my hard-worked homework, noh? Maybe if you properly did research then you'd have a much proper analysis on it.
Anyway.
Honey, it seems you still donât get it: youâre the one who made the claim, so youâre the one who has to prove your point, which you havenât. You canât just accuse someone of something without any argument and then tell them to prove otherwise. Thatâs not how it works.
Oh, that. I read âpostsâ by accident. I stayed up late to answer you, so my head wasnât working straight. But I didnât mistake any of the rest, so donât try to generalize. Also, my answer remains the same. I donât think I talked about them more than I should, because there isnât a limit to how much I should talk about them. Iâll talk about them as much as I want because itâs my own post.
Lmfao, âhard-worked homeworkâ. Right, visting a site is so much work. If you were actually trying to be constructive with these asks, youâd at least name the sources. All that happens if I google what I had already googled is that I find the exact same results, obviously. Itâs impossible that you havenât realized this much. Your claim remains baseless.
Also, donât worry, I read your post through and through which is exactly why I knew how much of the post you were wrong. You even got some of the flowers wrong, most especially Masa-sanâs. And moreover, I see no point, still, in putting them together, because as Iâve mentioned, they are individual characters and Kyoani gave them separate flowers. I donât know how you automatically thought of them instead of generalizing the more important people around them unless you were clearly ship-biased.
Yet you were and still are so vague about it. Just tell me already what was wrong so I can fix it instead of repeating yourself like a broken disk.
The meanings of their flowers are directly linked to each other, and most of them represent the two at the same time. If I were to do what you say, at most, Iâd only separate them by the flowers of the bonus artworks and write about the others as a set, but that doesnât change the fact that the interpretations of one would cite the other so it makes no difference.
You donât know why? I just told you in the examples from my previous answer.
âGeneralizing the more important people around themâ? Are you implying that thereâs some sort of ranking of whoâs more important to who and suggesting that Minato and Masakiâs relationship is less important to themselves than other relationships? Do you perhaps not realize that their relationship is the main one of the story? If so, then I can only assume that you didnât read the novel.
I donât really care much if you post MasaMina on end because I know you roll with that, but pushing it on a generalized post where EVERYONE is supposedly involved, Iâm not sure what other un-rude term I could call it, tbh. Iâm not even sure if I should be the one you should call a child between us i youâre the one who hates on something because your ship wasnât involved in it. Of course, you would deny because youâre âso smartâ but from the way you rant about it, it clearly shows. Thatâs sad.
Itâs not a generalized post, whatever you mean by that. And I fail to see how all the characters being involved equals Masaki and Minatoâs flowers having nothing to do with one another.
I would deny simply because itâs not true, lol. Iâm not hating on anything, you are. I wouldnât at all hate it if the symbolism around Minato and Masaki had nothing to do with each other, but it does and thatâs not subjective. I already explained how they are involved, but I have no way of forcing it through your thick skull. If you donât want to understand, you just wonât.
I donât get why you keep trying to imply that Iâm dumb or that I try to act intelligent. Your blatant dislike of my person is the most confusing part of your asks, tbh.
I wasnât desperate to cover up anything, I know what I wrote you, I have copies in case tumblr deletes it, too âcause that happens. Maybe it was partial anon hate but also because I wanted to point out that your supposed analysis of a general thing for Tsurune is wrong and I felt bad for the people who saw/see it. Believing false information. I suggested disclaimer that it was still, nonetheless, your opinion because whether you studied it or not, the information is still not originally yours.
âMaybeâ and âpartialâ are deliberate choices of wording. You indirectly insulted me, came up with accusations all of a sudden, literally tried to corner me, threw a fit because I didnât reply right away, made false assumptions about me and acted extremely condenscending all along. It was anon hate. Donât try to smooth it out and just say it like it is.
Stop trying to make it seem as if you being upset with it equals that a lot of people are upset. Youâre the only one to ever complain about that post.
Itâs not my opinion, and the information not coming originally from me doesnât make it an opinion (itâs the opposite, actually). The information also doesnât originally come from the people who host flower-related sites. Flower language has existed for literal centuries.
And I will repeat, interpretting Masa-san and Minatoâs flowers are NOT IMPOSSIBLE. You just REFUSE to do it because you were, i donât know, pushing your ship? You wanted to? But mind you, your post is Tsurune-general related. Masa-san and Minato donât just have each other; they have families they love, friends they care for, any one of them cou;dâve been what the flower is for. But you mainly focused on them for no valid reason. Wouldnât you think thatâs being rude?
Itâs not rude, lol. Thatâs probably not the word youâre looking for. But no word of negative connotation applies here anyway.
So what if the post is about all the characters? I donât see why thatâs a reason for me not to relate their flowers to one another when they are, in fact, related. Besides, I talked more about them because thereâs more symbolism surrounding them. Canât help that 90% of the flower language used in the books is for their relationship.
Again, see the examples I used in my other response. Who was it that Masaki met in middle school and then met again as an adult? Whose smile is Minato weak to? There isnât any other character who can be used as answer to these questions. This isnât a matter of opinion. Itâs literally what the author wrote.
You mentioned their bonds but neglected the relationship of the characs that appeared in the latter part of the flower post. I honestly couldnât go past that post without reading about Masa-san and Minato but never really seeing other names get mentioned again. I didnât mind my embarrassment tbh, if thatâs anything to be embarrassed about. I just hope youâll admit to being wrong for once, though. Iâm not expecting an apology, but truth. Because I feel bad for the ones seeing your post.
I didnât. I mentioned the team in Minatoâs and Akihiro in Masakiâs Blu-ray artwork flowers. But I couldnât see how anyone else applied to the flower language of the book.
Why do you keep repeating the things I said (and yet act like youâre not being childish)? I donât have to apologize, lmao. Youâre the offender here.
Iâm certainly not wrong for interpreting things based on canon, and I write my posts the way I see fit, because my blog. Stop trying to force me into modifying my post to your wishes. Thatâs entitled as hell. Just make an account to write your own posts, if you really donât have one, that is. Otherwise, die mad about me.
I appreciate you called me trying to point out your wrongs as assholery childishness. Now Iâm just wondering if youâll show my asks to prove youâre right or to prove Iâm a child. I donât really mind, Iâm beyond it. As youâve said, I am an asshole, best to live up with it, I donât recall calling you anything, however. And to be clear, Iâm not an anti-MasaMina before you point that out.
Itâs assholery because you refuse to specify it and donât present evidence to back it up, just keep saying that Iâm wrong and biased. Thatâs not âpointing outâ anything, itâs flaming, pure and simple.
Oh, so you think calling me names would be the only thing that defines it as assholery and anything else is fair game. That explains it all.
I donât care whether or not youâre anti-MasaMina, honestly.
Okay, here they go:
Full of shade. Cue other three of those.
This one was doing fine, but then the tantrum started:
And then you came back pretending that nothing had happened:
I guess youâre gonna say that I should learn to take criticism or use some other bigoted argument. This is anon hate. Baseless, improductive, entitled and purely offensive. Case closed.
Funny the first one about the tag wasn't even mine. Oh I've read the novel, don't worry, it's kind of why I'm countering your opinions right now. I never said Masa-san and Minato's relationship was any less important but the story isn't even about them. The title says what the story is about. Masa-san is merely one of the many links of relationships Minato could have so the point stands. They're not a set. I'm more wondering if you've read it yourself.
Fixed that now.
Right, what the author writes is totally my opinion.
The story is literally about them. Itâs literally the main relationship. Whatâre you even saying???
You say âmerelyâ as if he doesnât make that much of a difference when he was literally the trigger to everything.
You bet I did, thatâs why I quote it directly all the time, which you donât do ever.
I see that this discussion has no way of advancing because you donât really seem to pay attention to my responses. My guess is that youâll continue saying the same stuff, which would force me to do the same because thereâs literally nothing else I can tell you.
I donât mind answering other asks, but the flower post is out of question. Itâs a waste of my time saying the same stuff again and again. This topic is over for me. Just refer back to the post and our whole discussion if you think otherwise.

Happy Birthday (ffxv)
Pairing: Gladio x f!oc
Word Count: 1644
The Misadventures of Eerie: Insomnia--Outlands
Note: This was super indulgent and kind of my birthday present to myself. Made for a cute story so figured Iâd share
âIâll never get over how much you love this shit.â
Eyra glanced at him before a smile curled her mouth. âScared?â she teased.
Gladio snorted. âNot even close.â The horror double feature theyâd watched had been good but after dating Eerie for nearly six months he had gotten used to the scary movies. It was going to take more than these to actually spook him. Or her.
âThank you for this,â she said quietly. âNo one else watches them with me.â
He knew that which was one of the reasons heâd brought her here. âIris would have,â he reminded her. His sister had liked it before but once sheâd learned that Eerie was into it, it was all the two of them did if they were together.
âIris isnât the one I wanted to spend my birthday with.â
Gladio reached across the car to catch her hand, threading their fingers together. Heâd cleared the day to spend it with her and he still wasnât over the look of shock sheâd had when heâd told her. Little things always caught her off guard and heâd be lying if he said he didnât enjoy the fuck out of doing it. âWell, the day isnât over yet.â
She laughed lowly. âGladio, itâs ten. The dayâs almost over.â
Almost but not quite. He glanced around. The drive-in lot was almost clear so they should probably leave soon. Heâd waited to let most of the crowd leave to make it easier to get out and because Eerie had practically been vibrating in her seat after the last movie. Heâd wanted to let her bask in whatever high the movie had given her.
âGladio,â she chided, squeezing his fingers, âwhat more can we do?â
He lifted a brow at her and watched a flush spread between her freckles.
Eyra swallowed, licking her lips. âWe arenât having sex at the drive-in.â
âThat doesnât sound like you at all,â he rumbled.
Her lower lip disappeared between her teeth as he lifted her hand to kiss it. âGladio.â
He smiled against her before shaking his head. âIf we were going to do that, we should have done it before people cleared out,â he agreed.
Her pout was almost immediate as he let go of her hand. âRude,â she muttered. âPutting that thought in my head and then taking it away.â
âHey, youâre the one that said we shouldnât.â
âYouâre right. That doesnât sound like me at all.â
Gladio laughed and started the car. They had plans for tomorrow with family and friends but heâd booked a hotel room for them tonight. Heâd almost had to fight her uncle and brother to get most of today with her. Nyx and Kal werenât used to sharing Eyra but theyâd worked out a compromise that had worked for everyone. Mostly. Nyx and Kal had dragged their heels over lunch until heâd hauled Eerie away to continue with their day. They could see her tomorrow; tonight was theirs.
He heard her sigh and a glance at her had him smiling. Sheâd been cozy before but now she was tucked against the door, socked feet up on the dash, and looking completely relaxed. Heâd give anything to see it happen more but with both their busy schedules it only happened when they planned it. Speaking of. âDid you get the holiday off next month?â
âNovember isnât the best time to go camping, babe,â she pointed out.
âJust means the grounds will be all ours,â he threw back.
      âWeâre gonna be cold.â
âExcuse me, I thought we were going to cuddle.â
Eyra finally laughed, reaching out to lightly stroke his hand on the gear shaft. âAlways the cuddling with you,â she murmured, âbut yeah, I got the holiday off.â
His grip on the wheel tightened a little bit. He had been happy before about having a room alone with her but now that she had that purr in her voice? He needed a distraction if he was going to keep driving and there was only one thing he could think of. He didnât want to make her mad on her birthday but heâd waited long enough for this. âI know we agreed,â he said slowly, pulling onto the main thoroughfare, âbut I got you something.â
      âGladio!â
âI know, I know! I couldnât help myself!â
      âBabe,â she sighed.
It had been her rule which he had grudgingly agreed to. He knew why sheâd done it or at least why she thought she had to do it. The gaps in where they came from didnât bother either of them usually but every now and then he knew she got self conscious about it. Knew that that was why sheâd told him not to get her anything. She didnât think she could ever get him anything that would compare to what he could afford.
âLook, itâs not a birthday without at least one gift,â he told her.
âHaving a day with you isnât a gift?â
      âWow, Eerie,â he laughed. âWow.â
âShut up! Donât be mean to me on my birthday!â
âBabe, you are so fucking cute,â he said, still laughing.
      âWhat?â
He didnât need to see her to know she had a look on her face but he still threw her a glance. She got grumpy so damn fast and it wasnât helping her case. At all. âI fucking love you,â he chuckled.
      âStop being mean!â
He caught her hand again and kissed her palm. âBaby, youâd know if I was being mean to you.â
      Eyra huffed.
He didnât care what she said; she was fucking cute and he loved her even more when she denied it. Kissing her again, he let go. âYou want your present now or at the hotel room?â
Dead silence from her side of the car. âThat is mean,â she growled.
He knew it was and a part of him felt bad about it. He knew she liked presents despite telling him not to get her anything and putting it in her court wasnât going to make this easy for her. Honestly, it was a dick move.
      âIâll wait,â Eyra muttered.
Gladio clamped his lips together to keep from questioning that. He was the one that wanted to wait and he knew that she didnât like it. Any comment on it from him was just going to make her open it now. âI should have gotten a closer hotel.â
She laughed. âMaybe we should have stayed at the drive-in?â she teased.
âYou are the worst,â Gladio growled.
      âYou love me,â she purred.
He did and as soon as they got to the hotel he was going to show her how much. Which didnât make obeying the speed limit any easier. He risked a look at her and regretted it. She was still tucked into the side of her seat, watching him with a cat in the cream smile on her face. She was slowly teasing one of the dog tags she wore along the chain, her fingers brushing against her chest as she did. âYouâre a fucking brat.â
Her laughter filled the car and he couldnât be mad about that. He loved hearing the sound so he could tolerate her being a brat for now.
But he decided he wasnât going to wait until they were in the hotel.
Throwing the car into park after finding a spot, he grabbed her arm when she started to leave. âWait, babe.â
She frowned at him but sank back into the seat.
Opening the console, he plucked out the small box inside. âI didnât wrap it,â he apologized.
âYou shouldnât have gotten it at all,â she chided, still taking it from him.
âJust open your gift, Eerie,â he sighed.
âYou sure you donât want me to wait even longer?â
âOkay I deserve that but just open it? Please?â
She studied him for a moment before smiling. âFine, fine. Even though I told you not to and this is clearly a jewellery box so itâs expensive and-oh.â
He watched her expression, watched her bite her lip again. One finger shakily touched the pendant inside and she exhaled slowly. âStill like that kind of thing?â
Grey eyes swung to him. âGladio,â she murmured, âwe both know this isnât because I like scary movies.â
Gladio winced. Heâd hoped it would take her longer to figure that out but he shouldnât have been surprised that she knew what it was. âNo, it isnât,â he agreed, âbut you can pretend it is if you donât like the other reason.â
âThe other reason being my boyfriend is part of the Crownsguard, their symbol is a skull, and you just gave me a skull necklace?â
âYeah,â he pushed out, âthat reason.â
Eyra reached out, cupping his cheek with her hand. âYou are the biggest dork I have ever met,â she murmured.
He watched, confused, as she climbed out of the car. âEerie?â he called.
âCome here, babe,â she called back.
Turning the car off, he followed her out and went around to her side.
Sheâd barely moved, was waiting for him. âHelp me?â she asked, holding the necklace out to him.
Whatever tension had been in him vanished as he took it. She turned her back to him, gathering and lifting her hair. He quickly looped the chain around her neck, latching it and leaning down to kiss her neck. âYou like it then?â he murmured.
âI love it,â she said, looking at him over her shoulder as she let go of her hair. âAnd Iâm wearing it for the proper reason, big guy, and no other.â
His eyes closed and he kissed her again, nuzzling past her hair. He heard her sigh, take a half step into him. He kissed under her ear and breathed, âWanna go upstairs?â
âYou got more gifts for me?â she purred.
He grinned against her. âI might have a couple more.â

Notes From the Universe
The Self Improvement Blog | Self Esteem | Self Confidence
Whether weâre awake or asleep, stuck in a mind-numbing meeting, or passed out after a night of too many margaritas at the bar, the Universe never stops sending us messages. Sometimes the e-mails end up mistakenly in our junk pile, and other times a long awaited text fails to beep on our spiritual smartphone. But most times the notes we desperately seek are written under our very noses â only to end up blowing away in the wind because weâre too fixated on the dancing bears and colorful lights. Sometimes we get notes from the Universe and are not aware that it is just that â a note from the Universe to us.
Letâs talk about some basics here.
Living is broken down into two elemental states â the time youâre awake, and the time youâre asleep.
If sleep time only comprised an hour or two of our daily Earth cycle, I could understand why it would seem rather insignificant in relation to the waking phase.
But itâs not an hour or two. On average, sleep consumes one third of our existence. Thatâs nothinâ to sneeze at. If that balance shifted only 4 hours, we would be talking about a condition consuming half our lives.
For all the crazy new advancements weâve seen in this generation alone, it stuns me to consider how fundamentally ignorant we still remain about our âunconsciousâ periods, despite them being an undeniable part of living, which not a single one of us can ignore without breaking down physically or mentally.
What stuns me, even more, is the lack of interest we have in our âawarenessâ during this rest phase. Though that may seem like a contradictory word to use when describing sleep, itâs quite fitting to describe dreaming. And thereâs not a human to be found whoâs unfamiliar with the strange experience of rising from nocturnal slumber with memories of activity and adventure, joys and terror.
Doesnât it seem slightly odd to acquire conscious memories while being unconscious?
No matter how bizarre our nighttime sojourns may sometimes be, theyâre absolutely real. We can remember them, we can talk about them, we can be thrilled by them, we can be scared by them, we can even orgasm to them. How is it that mainstream science has convinced us dreaming is an irrelevant fiction of an overworked brain?
Yup, makes no fucking sense.
So letâs look at dreaming from a slightly different viewpoint, one that doesnât involve the inputs of Jungs, Freuds, or Kruegers (that Freddy guy).
What if you knew that when you put your body to rest â to convert fuels into energy, or detoxify the shit youâve inundated it with over the course of your waking day â there was no break in consciousness, only a break down of ability to properly store the memories?
What if you knew that when you put your body to rest, consciousness didnât fade into a void, but shifted to a less dense arena of reality, one not bound by the physical limitations you hold so dear â one more fluid, intentionally malleable, and informative on a level surpassing the use of pre-defined words, terms, or concepts?
What if a language beyond verbal communication was always at your disposal, but only a matter of learning to âspeakâ it properly?
What if you knew grand mal seizures, schizophrenia, autism, hallucinations, psychedelic experiences, or whatever host of other psychological conditions that experts label as âderanged,â were merely slight mistunings from the Earth frequency to a different signal of information?
Sure, a lot of âwhat ifâs,â but did you choose to shut down consideration after your beliefs cried out, âBullshit, Mike! None of those ideas could possibly be real!â or did your mind stay open to contemplate the wondrous implications â to ponder the kind of ideas that wonât get printed in peer-reviewed journals published by an old-boysâ club, who care only about income and reputation?
Thereâs no way Iâll profess to you I know a repeatable, scientific method to verify consciousness remains unbroken 24/7, but I can tell you that on at least one occasion, Iâve directly experienced this to be true.
REM cycles had nothing to do with it. Drugs had nothing to do with it. Delusion had nothing to do with it. As I lay my body to rest for the evening, I induced an OBE, and stayed in a lucid âdreamâ the entirety of the night. If you donât know what those terms are, do yourself a favour and look âem up. There were moments where the quality of my lucidity wavered, but I kept managing to pull it back to full conscious awareness, while my body laid âpassed out.â
Cool shit.
Not only did I spend essentially a full day aware, I still âwoke upâ refreshed, recharged, and more excited than ever to do it again.
Spending time lucid dreaming has taught me an important truth about so-called reality â itâs whatever we make it to be. Our hopes, our fears, and our obsessions dominate our surroundings, whether awake or asleep.
If you want to know the real secret of âThe Secret,â Iâll share it with you right now. Every idea, every decision, every action youâve made while walking the physical plane has put you in the exact place you find yourself in this very second. You have indeed manifested all your thoughts, dreams, and fears, just not in the manner a well-marketed, âimmediate gratificationâ piece of drivel would have you believe.
Earth is not an instant manifestation play land. Itâs more like being in a house of mirrors â one with a heavy lag in reflection time, but nonetheless sending back to us all the energetic output weâve ever provided, no matter how large, small, intentional, or mistaken.
With those thoughts in mind, Iâd like to share with you a story that happened to me today.
With the weather finally warming, I decided to do a 5 K run this morning â my first one of the year. I felt sluggish and winded to start, but before long, I found my stride, and felt like I hadnât missed a day in 6 months.
The route I chose was completely random, picking a left or right whenever the decision felt appropriate â no fixed circuit in mind. Halfway through the run, I found myself in a small, soggy parkette, and decided to sit briefly on a picnic table in the middle of the grass, to appreciate a few extended moments of sunrise.
My mind was still absorbed in the last dream I had before waking â analyzing the symbolism, and feeling frustrated not having a straightforward answer to the questions I sought, thinking the Earth reality was a screwy mess of confusion.
I got up to continue, and took about ten strides into the next run, when I spotted a note lying on the grass. It looked like a piece of paper from a fortune cookie. This is what is said:
The weaving irregularities and shade variations are characteristics of the fabric, and in no way to be taken as defects.
Wow â the ultimate poetic description of life on Earth! And one that moved my mind from a state of agitated judgment, to calm acceptance.
Perhaps that rectangular square was nothing more than an old tag attached to organic lama wool, or some shit like that, I dunno. But on the back of the paper, it had more writing â a single word, in silver, scripted font:
Creation
I share this not because I have any desire to convince the world our conscious awareness and sustained thoughts are far more powerful than anything weâve been led to believe, but for a far simpler reasonâŚ
I love messages from the Universe.

Conversation
"Friends"
(I had met with my ex to exchange items after my chiropractor appointment. My lengthy speech days before was not enough clarification so he sought further, questioning our status. I smiled at the stupidity of the question and responded, "Friends." My answer was not the one he wanted and I received numerous messages before I had returned home. He wanted to make sure all items had been returned.)
Me: Yes unless I come across something else.
Ex: super great
Ex:I removed myself from your artist page
(I had made him an admin when he questioned my loyalty after my previous ex and his wife had messaged me.)
Me: Ok. I don't think I'd know how to do that lol
(I wouldn't.)
Ex: ok
Ex: pictures.
Ex: i need to remove tags and pictures
Ex: fucking facebook
Ex: its all like oh something went wrong
Ex: im about to just block you and see if that takes care of it
Ex: did you do a thing or did it work?
(He was looking for a response and I wasn't going to give it. I was more so stressed that he wouldn't leave me alone.)
Me: idk?
Ex: did you delete pictures on your end?
Me: No?
(I responded in the form of a question because I had deleted pictures of us weeks before we broke up, but not from social media. I felt he would not respond well to my confessing of the prior.)
Ex: oh ok
Ex: ok i think I got them all
Me: Good job lol
(What did he want...a pat on the the back?)
Ex: thanks LOL
(LOL was his common response when upset or not in control while seeking the last word in an attempt to feel in control. I find it to be the equivalent of "I'll pray for you" when Christians argue.)
Me: *sends a GIF of A. C. Slater and Zack Morris from "Saved By the Bell" giving themselves a pat on the back*
Ex: I take that as sarcastic
Ex: im still debating blocking you lol
(He was still looking for a response.)
Me: If you wish
(Encouragement in hope that he does.)
Ex: k bye
(I saw an opportunity.)
Me: There is one thing you should know.
Ex: ?
Me: *sends a picture of the Joan Jett and Styx concert tickets*
Me: Hahahahahaha! Bye
Ex: wow.
Ex: im glad you think thats funny
Me: You threatened me with Journey. I got the tickets the day after Indy.
(We went to Indy for my appointment and had both looked forward to getting out of town. On the way he questioned my delay in response to his questions the day before. Eventually he suggested, "Maybe we should break up", which was his go-to when things got rough. I took his offer. I went to my appointment and he sat outside. During that time he managed to convince himself that I had been using him the whole time. We left and got in the car where he proceeded to drive recklessly while being verbally aggressive. His excessive fidgeting had me worried he was going to hit me. I sat in silence as he brought up every concern and emotion he had ever tucked away. He attacked my sexuality. He put me down. He spoke on my behalf, answering his own questions. We were halfway back to Terre Haute before we began to communicate appropriately. By the time we returned to my apartment he was convinced we could work things out. Nothing changes if nothing changes. I told him if we were to further pursue this relationship I would have to see changes made, but that did not guarantee permanence. We went to DD for coffee. I knew he would pay. I didn't order. He was surprised. I didn't want him to think I was using him. We returned to my apartment and I got out of the car and walked away. It was only a matter of minutes until I received phone calls and messages.)
Me: But, still...its funny?
(He doesn't deny his threats.)
Me: This whole conversation is ridiculous.
Ex: I get that you got tickets to something
Ex: im glad you did
Ex: I hope you have a good time
Ex: but honestly I didn't expect you to tell me like that. I assumed you were a little better than that.
Me: I am certain I will. I didn't want to tell you like that but you weren't being nice.
(It was a dick move, but it was a good one!)
Ex: sure
Me: Threatening me with Journey tickets is an attempt to get an emotional response and gain some sort of control was a dick move, but then I quickly realized joan jett was the same night and I can still make it to work. I tolerated your harsh words and irrational behavior. I hoped things could be nice but it was clear that was not gonna happen, especially now.
Ex: ok
Me: I do wish good for you and believe you are better than you present.
Ex: ok
Ex: When did I threaten you with journey tickets exactly?
Ex: How so?
Me: In the car, "I think I'm gonna sell the tickets."
Me: "Okay"
Me: "Try to get my money back"
Me: "Okay"
Ex: that wasn't a threat, that was me hoping you would offer to buy them
(I offered to, but then I realized it was symbolic of all the times he pulled the "Maybe we should break up" card and me finally responding as he wished by begging and pleading no. I am not that person. I will not be that person. Instead, I bought tickets to Joan Jett and Styx after remembering they were to be performing in Noblesville the same night Journey was performing with Def Leppard in Louisville. Plot twist, asshole.)
Ex: call me.
Ex: please/
Me: I can't right now cause I'm still with my sis and packing up kaine to drop stuff off at work before going to the dog park
Ex: ok
Ex: well, nevermind then.
(I thought the conversation was finally over. Nope.)
Ex: I have $240 in the tickets, and at that moment i was frustrated and it was becoming clear we wernt going
Ex: I apologize that you lack the ability to see things outside of your scope and also lack the ability to recognize that sometimes people have moments.
(Again, he was speaking on my behalf. What I experienced was not a moment. It was the red flag I needed for the others had been bright enough. It was not just a "moment". It was an indicator of what I would experience if the relationship continued.)
Ex: Especially for someone who has so many. You complain so much about people not understanding you but it seems like you also arnt willing to take the time to understand other people.
Ex: and im sorry that you view everything as an attack on you, i know that sucks for you.
(Seems my voice was never loud enough and I admit that. I do fail to understand things. Ya can't teach a know-it-all. I do not view everything as an attack, but a potential attack. Trust is a HUGE issues and I didn't have that with him. I admit there are people I do not understand. I have become better at recognizing when to take time to understand because I know that whatever behavior or words were present were not of that person's character and who is actually an asshole that I cannot and do not have to fix. I understood that it was more than a moment and I was not going to stick around to "understand" and be manipulated and brainwashed to think otherwise.)
Me: I told you the truth of my limitations upon entering the relationship.
Ex: I know.
Me: School, work, mental health, recovery etc.
(I was extremely thorough with all that surrounded my mental health and placed great emphasis on my education and limited availability. I suggested he build relationships with those around him, staying in communication, and even attend counseling because there would be times I could not give him the support he was seeking.)
Ex: right
Ex: well, congrats.
(Congrats on my newfound freedom and reduction of stress? Yes!)
Ex: I guess the whole friends idea is done then?

Hardcore punk band, War On Women release new album, Capture The Flag!
Taking their name from a phrase first coined by feminist writer Andrea Dworkin to describe certain Republican policies, US feminist hardcore band War On Women were formed in 2010 by Shawna Potter and Brooks Harlan, they released Improvised Weapons in 2012 and their debut album in 2015 on Bridge Nine Records. Their new album, Capture The Flag, has just been released to positive response with Pitchfork.com commenting âWar On Women state the facts. They are self-righteous. They point fingers. Activism is prominently at the heart of their screeds against the systematic plagues of patriarchy, racism, and capitalism. The enemy is everywhere. War On Women prioritise taking it down (1)â. I was fortunate enough to witness War On Women live in the summer of 2016 and wrote at the timeâŚâShawna Potterâs experience in drama means the lyrics are delivered within an unusually full spectrum of communication as she commands your attention with her stage presence...To be honest I donât think Iâve seen a better front person.â That opinion still stands! With a new album out and an extremely tumultuous last 18 months in the USA and Europe it seemed a good move to catch up with Shawna (via email) and find out how things have been going for the band. It was summer 2016 when we last spoke, a lot has happened in under two years! Let's start with band changes! You, Brooks (Harlan) and Sue (Werner) are still there and have been joined by Jennifer Vito on guitar and Ben Jones on drums (2)-what sort of new resources have Jennifer and Ben brought to the WoW sound? Have they bought new styles and influences into the mix? Has the WoW sound changed from the first album at all? We're really happy to have Jennifer and Ben in the band, they're great players and great people, so it's made the transition easy for sure. Capture the Flag was already being written and recorded before they officially joined, so while this record is the next step/progression for the band, I'm also excited to see what our next album sounds like with them more involved. Three years on from your eponymous debut album you have released Capture The Flag, I would understand the title to imply a cultural struggle over who defines the USA and it's trajectory-is that fair? Definitely. Who gets to call themselves a patriot? Who has a right to this land? What does it mean to be American? I think these are things we need to think about and agree on if we're ever going to avoid another regime like our current one. On previous releases you have dealt with important issues from a feminist perspective; rape, toxic masculinity, the gender pay gap, the disappearance and deaths of women in Mexico, objectification, sexual harassment. What sort of subject matter have you engaged with on Capture The Flag? I never want to make the same record twice, and that includes subject matter, so I find that limitation can inspire some creativity - how do you talk about reproductive rights after writing âRoe V Worldâ? I did it by taking a different angle, what happens if you do end up giving birth? The GOP only cares about your kid when you are the incubator, just another excuse to not give women full autonomy as human beings. Always putting someone else first. Did the Republican victory in the Presidential elections change your lyrical perspective at all? I think I mean did the structures of oppression come more clearly into view as systems reproducing themselves through the lives of individuals? It did affect me, but in the sense that I felt overwhelmed and exhausted. I've been working on these issues and singing about them non-stop for years, and yet here we were. And frankly looking at 45's face was making me feel sick. So while I took in as much as I could about current events, I think I wanted to avoid writing anything that was too topical, that would be dated by the time the record came out. So while I did end up writing a bit about Trump, the song "Predator in Chief" can be about any man in a powerful position that uses it to abuse others. Great cover by the way, I liked the intersectionality... is that Angela Davis depicted? No, I don't believe so. But I'm very grateful to our friend Ryan Patterson (Coliseum/Fotocrime/Shirtkiller) for doing the design. After getting the first pass I definitely said "Less white ladies!" It's important that the album cover reflects a nod to history, who has been fighting and who is now fighting to actually make this country great. I read that you have an educational resource/work book based around Capture The Flag's lyrics, can you tell us a bit more about that? Was it a response to how the first album was used (3)? Yes, there were a few tags on social media that mentioned teachers and professors using our lyrics in class. I thought, why not encourage that more by making it easy on them? So I worked with a few friends to come up with a pdf booklet that includes our lyrics, back stories, quotes, resources, and prompting questions for each song. Anyone can download it at the Bridge Nine Bandcamp page,https://bridge9.bandcamp.com/album/capture-the-flag. I read an article where you commented that you knew you were going into a sexist culture when you did the Vans Warped Tour last year-and that was exactly why you did it, to let some light in (4)! How did it go? Were you pleasantly surprised, did the other bands get on board? Yes, there were plenty of supportive bands that "got it," and I'm sure the ones that didn't just avoided us. There were no arguments backstage or anything. A volunteer we brought out with us to run the Safer Scenes program, Kira-Lynn Ferderber, taught a bystander intervention class off hours for any bands and staff that wanted to show up. Major shout out to all the bands that attended. Overall, the entire experience was good and I'm glad we did it. I make it a point to say every festival can do better, and frankly as audience members we have a lot of power too. If anyone out there cares about making the festival experience a welcoming and non-rapey one, then take a bystander intervention class! How did generally young, straight, white male crowds respond-were they able to grasp what was going on as you presented a feminist perspective, challenging sexism and taking apart their sense of entitlement!? Having seen you live I imagine they must have been terrified! Ha! I don't know about terrified... well, every now and again someone would tell me they were simultaneously afraid and turned on, which I actually really love. I am happy to confuse, if nothing else, and I know I am (or can be) a sexual subject on stage, never an object. But I think any men that really didn't care or get it would just watch something else, there is no reason in the circus that is Warped Tour to keep standing there if you're not into something. So for that reason, we might have avoided some run of the mill heckling. But there were plenty of men and boys who told us they were surprised to realise that they liked our band, and even "got it" after seeing us play live. I don't think even I'd be interested in watching a band of feminist killjoys if the music sucked, so we've got that going for us. Did you get much feedback from women and LGBTQI+ people-they must have been really encouraged!? Yes! All the young trans- and non-binary people, some out and some not out and/or still discovering themselves, they made a point to come say âHiâ to us and talk with us and that was always really wonderful. For some, not only might Warped have been their first show ever, but then to have an overtly trans-supportive band they can watch and feel comfortable in the crowd with? That's a beautiful thing that I feel lucky we could share with them. On the Warped Tour you took a couple of people along to educate in preventing sexual harassment and in bystander intervention (3), did they have positive interactions? I only know what they told me, since I couldn't table all day or I'd lose my voice. They told me of mostly positive interactions, just teaching people basic bystander skills they could use that day at the festival if something came up, or back home the next time they were in a public space. There were some negative experiences, as in someone would come over and question the importance of what they were doing, but the positives far outweighed the negatives. OK, time to talk about the elephant in the room (lame political symbol joke)! The Republicans won the 2016 election which means the USA has Trump as President. Over here we had our version with Brexit. The Leave result seemed to emboldened some racists and xenophobes, what sort of cultural effect did the Trump win have in the USA? Has there been any experiential shift? Same, the bigots are emboldened for sure. But everyone else is a little more awake now, too, realised that they have to fight for what they believe in, it's not just a given anymore. So I have a ton of people approaching me for safer space workshops, who want to learn bystander intervention skills. It's a great way to take control of your own little corner of the world, when everything else seems too overwhelming to handle. Apart from college educated women, the majority in all categories of white voters seemed to have voted Trump including 62% of non college educated white women (5)! What did you feel that revealed about white American identity and white female self esteem that they voted for a man who had been caught boasting about sexual assault? Internalised sexism is a hell of a drug. I mean, people really think they can get ahead as an individual if they rally around the ones oppressing the group they belong to. You see it with sexism, racism, etc. People will tie their worth to the nearest white male, hoping some of that privilege and confidence and ease of moving through the world will rub off on them, and maybe it does for a time, but at what cost? And what happens when things inevitably go south? They will choose their own, these white men, they won't have the back of any women or men of colour when it comes down to it. In January, a year after Trump was inaugurated, there were still big protests in the USA for women's rights and against misogyny and racism (6), has Trump's presidency united feminists and created a lot of male allies-a 'If not me who, if not now when' moment?  Yes, it has. We must keep moving toward a non-violent society, but we're on our way. Victims are being believed more and more, abusers are being taken down, and while keeping all that up the next step is actual accountability and rehabilitation for the ones who have caused harm. All while we avoid creating "untouchable, all-powerful men" by diversifying every meeting, company, board room, movie, etc etc. And has it led to alliances of resistance with other groupings of people? It seems like people get it, that marginalised groups of people, if we fought together, would greatly outnumber the supposed "majority." I feel it in the workshops I run, people know that they must stick up for each other, because who else will do it? You had Kathleen Hanna join you on vocals for the track 'YDTMHTL', did that have a sense of joining the dots, linking up with another artist whose music has also been about female empowerment and challenging gender stereotypes? For me, I just felt lucky enough to work with someone I have admired since Junior High. Really, it was surreal. I must confess, I was being selfish and thinking more about the joy of recording with her than what it might mean for others to hear us link up! What current bands should we be checking out? Krimewatch, Downtrodder, Gouge Away, HIRS, Sick Shit. What plans do WoW have for the rest of 2018? Any trips to Europe? Definitely some touring, and if we can't come to Europe this year then we'll see you next year! Big thanks to Shawna for time, thoughts and words. Photos courtesy of Bridge Nine Records.
