You do not suck at art! You simply haven't used the right step.

You seems to go right into copying your reference, but before copying, you should *understand* your reference. What I mean is that you should break it down! Your reference is great because it already do a big part of the job by turning complex anatomy into simple shape, but it's not the only part of breaking it down: you should also try to understand the proportion, angle of your shape and once you learnt a bit more about drawing how the shape works in 3d for example.

• To understand the proportion, you need to compare different part of the body with each other. For example if you take your character torso + belly, you'll see it's the same length as their legs + hips!

• To understand the angle, you need to understand how each part of your character bodies is bending. For example, if you compare the left leg you draw compared to your reference, you'll see the reference is much straighter!

To do so I really recommend you take your reference and draw on it. To understand proportion, you can for example make two box of equal size one for the torso + belly and one for legs + hips. Or to understand angle, you can for example draw line following each body parts angle.

Once you understood the reference, you shouldn't go right into drawing but rather make a sketch with construction line. See how you divided your character in two boxes? Well, now you can draw those two boxes before drawing the body! Now, when you'll draw torso + belly and legs + hips, you assure they will be equally sized so your drawing will look more like the reference :)

This is only a very simple explanation of construction like but I hope it can help you! I wish I could use picture in anon to show you directly but if you ever wants some I can share without anon.

The moment you hear the door to the other room open, you take that as your cue to sneak into your lover's bedroom and hide in one of the darkened corners. There's barely any room for you between their giant computer server and the weird... shrine they made for you, but you make do with the limited space.

All you had to do was wait there until Ren came back.

But... He surely was taking his time. Just what exactly was he doing in that spare room? You had half a mind to go and check, but your feet didn't want to move — instead, they stayed planted firmly where they were.

A few seconds pass, which eventually turns into a minute or two, and there are still no signs of your beloved hacker returning. But just as you begin to lose hope and convince yourself to investigate, the door creaks open.

Finally!

You can't conceal the devious smile that pulls at your lips as you subtly peek around the corner of the server. Finally, there Ren stands, blissfully unaware and with his back to you, providing you with the perfect opportunity to pounce — literally. It takes four muffled steps to get within jumping range, and before you have the chance to talk yourself out of it...

You strike.

With a surprised yelp, your pink-haired boyfriend doubles over — but not without making sure to grab your thighs and prevent you from toppling over as well. And just like a koala, you cling to his backside and press playful kisses onto the nape of his neck with mirthful glee.

"Shit, y'surprised me, Angel— Ah! Th-That tickles!" With a laugh of his own, Ren feigns throwing you off as he carefully spins around with you still latched onto his back.

Do you think there's a right and/or wrong way to handle QPR? I know it's a tricky relationship, but it feels like most/some people kind of just slap the label onto a ship while depicting the ship as just romantic/having no difference with a romantic relationship. (this is why I was a little surprised when you said you do radioapple qpr when it reads a lot more like normal romance). Not meant as an attack or anything on anyone, just genuinely curious more than anything. Again, tricky relationship

Alright, so please take what I say with a grain of salt, because that's exactly what it is. One small bit of perspective in a mass of many people who experience QPRs in their life and/or are on an aro/ace spectrum. I also have NO QUALIFICATIONS on gender/sexuality theory, so my opinions are shaped by what I've learned and experienced personally. While people may identify with the same term, we are all still individuals with our own experiences. Words can help describe a phenomenon, but it doesn't make everyone who identifies with the word into a monolith.

So I've stated a few times that I navigate shipping Alastor similar to my own experiences as an aroace person. (I guess I'm sharing about myself with this post, but I think that can be helpful to just spreading awareness of an "alternative lifestyle"). So I'm romance-repulsed and sex-repulsed LOL but I'm also "positive" about those things. Like I view romance and sex as lovely, fun experiences people can have, but I've never been into it personally. It's fun for me to consume media about romance/sex, but yknow, it's also fun for me to consume media about violence or isolation. Doesn't mean I want to experience or engage in any of those things lol.

Anyway, I'm a huge people person and I love to party and yknow it seems most people are really wanting to fall in love or fuck or whatever pretty much all the time, but especially at parties hahaha. Normally, I'm pretty touch-averse, but I love dancing so much and it's a blast to dance with a partner (salsa especially!! i don't care for grinding for probably obvious reasons). And to connect the two previous sentences, people (whatever gender they are) would be very kissy-touchy on the dancefloor. Which i honestly dont really give a fuck about hahaha. I don't really get anything out of kissing but I also don't mind it. I just like to dance. It's all a pretty superficial--but still genuinely fun--experience for me.

When it comes to my deeper or more intimate connections, I have had friendships that have felt SO on the line of what was viewed as a romantic relationship. They were exceptional friends and we connected on a level that was deep and true, but it wasn't romantic. Sometimes we'd slow dance, sometimes we kissed, and it rocked. But it wasn't more than that, it was all that it needed to be. I didn't want more and neither did they (except one situation and so we had to stop being friends lol whoops). From the outside, people would even refer to us as partners in a half joking way, but we really were just friends. And I love those friends!! And a huge part of what made those relationships (which at the time were described as 'situationships' because we didn't know any of these terms haha) was their convenience. We either lived in the same building, worked together, or were neighbors LOL. I'm still friends with those absolutely lovely folks, but we don't live around each other, so our QPR just appears a lot more like any ole regular friendship. But it's not like there was a feeling that we transitioned into something different than before. It twas what it twas! (Had to take a pause while I was typing to reminisce fondly for a second, okay back to hazbin hahaha)

SO, whenever someone asks or it comes up, MOST OF THE TIME I do ship alastor through an aroace lens and experience with QPRs (specifically, MINEE because they were fun and I've never felt like doing this before I met a character like Al). And my XP is: "this isn't gonna be a partnership and we ain't fucking" LMFAO. so yeah!

When it comes to using a queer term like QPR, I just hope folks are considerate in their writing, but I also am inclined to just believe them if they say that's their intention because QPRs can look very different. Again, aroace and ace folks are not a monolith. The terms help to describe a human's experience. I'm inclined to think people are writing in good faith.

And all this being said, I want to just emphasize that I really don't think it's necessary to consider any of this shit if you want to ship a fictional character. I understand wanting to be protective of a character who shares an identifier with you (I personally don't wanna see romance/sex with Al in canon). But shipping is a fun thing a fandom does that often does ignore canon. Tale as old as time. I don't think anyone needs to be beholden to canon when they're writing fanfiction or having fun. If we did, I would have like--5 artworks on this blog hahaha. These characters are like dollies, do whatever you want. It's cool if people don't like it and I think it's cool if people do. It's just not that serious. There are ships I'm not particularly into or dynamics that I am not enchanted by, but whatever. I can just scroll or close my eyes.

TLDR; shipping in fandom doesn't need to be taken seriously at ALL. It can just be fun way for someone to play with fictional characters they like. That being said, I think it's good practice to use queer terms thoughtfully.

Exactly how "devout" is Hake? He was so excited talking to Tusk about The Tide, even since the beginning he begged her not to kill the crab. Has he been slowly losing his religion as he got to know Tusk? Or did her final words just shatter everything?

If it's not a spoiler, is this "Fuck the tide" said just in anger and Hake is still struggling with what he does and doesn't believe? Or does he fully mean it and is done with The Tide and the whole religion?

I think Hake still completely believes The Tide is legit. I think he still fully believes his religion is true, and that cats get their fins when they die and return to the sea.

But now, it is too cruel. If God would say his wife must drown for her crime, than this is not a God worth following.

I think it is more interesting for him to still believe his religion is true, but to be betrayed by it so deeply that he would rather forsake his eternal afterlife than follow something that did this to someone he loved.

I like the difference of how Sturgeon and Hake have come to view The Tide's religion in their lives. Sturgeon who stopped believing very young because it was so cruel, it took her mother, and her God wouldn't do that. Vs Hake who has now had God kill his wife, and yeah, it's just that cruel.

Don't really have time to talk about them all, so I'll settle with Fire Emblem Three Houses!

This game. Holy. Shit.

This game pretty much changed me. The characters are amazing, the story is awesome, and how the story is split in four routes.

How the game made the lords morally gray. The interesting dynamics. The supports!

Though I'm gonna have to gush about one character. Edelgard.

When I first played the game, I wasn't sure who I would marry. I kept myself from spoilers and stayed in the dark about everyone till I got the game. When Byleth saved Edelgard at the beginning? I grew to like her. And her backstory made me relate to her SO MUCH (as someone who has nightmares a lot).

Even when she turned traitor, I still love her. And then there's the rat scene, where she shrieked when a rat came by in her room. I fell in love.

...Then I realize I like girls too. When I was a kid, I grew to love Aelita from Code Lyoko, even daydreamed once of me and her kissing, before I thought "That's weird" and moved on.

When I realize I'm falling in love with Edelgard? Yeah, turns out I'm bi, haha!

So, that game is on my number one spot out of my top three (second is Awakening, third is Sacred Stones). It changed me so much, and I don't think anything could top it ❤️

⌞♥⌝ I would say so!! Though it's purely on the off-chance that Angel runs into someone in public and they comment on Ren's appearance. Realistically, Ren would be less likely to be caught in a lie if he dyes his hair to match Haruko's and dresses in light academia fashion to appease Angel's aesthetics.
