I have a question relating to that anon's.
Wouldn't the best practice for out of hospital wound closure would be tape/butterfly sutures even if needle/silk sutures were in your scope of practice. Because no antibiotics, might need to irrigate the wound again, stabbing the person over and over with a needle in less than sterile conditions is welcoming more infections, you're more likely to have butterfly sutures or something to improvise them (like duct tape) than to have a suture kit.
I took wilderness first aid freshman year of college, but admittedly it's been a while (8 years) and a 3-day course was not much expertise to begin with, so I'm genuinely not sure.
Is that right or am i missing some obvious advantage to needle-type sutures?
You're right!
The only advantage to sutures is the fact that sutured wounds are going to look better once they heal. But as you point out there are a LOT of disadvantages, especially when there aren't antibiotics available.
There really aren't out-of-hospital reasons for sutures anyway. Small wounds can be butterflied or glued (with intermittent spots open to allow drainage). Large wounds can be packed. This is usually sufficient to allow a wound to heal, even if it might take a little longer. Even in the hospital we may not close dirty wounds because of the infection risk. These wounds usually get packed.
The only exceptions to this would be if a repair has to be done- say a torn eyelid, ear, lip, or cheek. And those are more surgical than just sutures.

🩹 These silicone foam dressings from dimora medical work wonders for wound care and healing! They're super versatile and can be used on moderately to high draining wounds including trauma wounds, surgical incisions, pressure ulcers, leg ulcers, burns and lots more!I love how they promote healing with way less pain. They absorb a ton of wound exudate to the 5 layers of material so the wound bed doesn't become macerated. They're way more absorbent than traditional bandage gauze so they don't need to be changed as often. Plus they maintain a healthy moisture environment and create a barrier from the outside. The soft silicone wound contact layer absorbs dead tissue cells and it doesn't' stick to the moist wound but it's sticky enough to stick to dry skin. This reduces pain and trauma during dressing changes.
🩹 These innovative dressings are also water resistant & breathable ! A must have for everyone's first aid kits! Right now you can get them for 15% off on Amazon and Shopify with my discount code: Shannan1017

The Advantages of Using Wound Closure Strips | DermaClip
Why opt for wound closure strips with a closure device instead of stitches or glue? Here are several key benefits:
Pain-free application: No needles or punctures make for a more comfortable experience.
Faster healing: Adhesive strips securely hold the clip to the skin without the trauma caused by sutures, promoting optimal wound closure and potentially accelerating healing by reducing the number of wounds that need to be closed.
Reduced scarring: Tension-free, elevated closure of wound edges is the gold standard for skin healing. Strips that evenly distribute tension across the wound can help minimize scar formation.
Easy removal: There's no need for a follow-up doctor’s visit—these strips are designed for simple, at-home removal.
Convenience: Take care of minor wounds at home with DermaQuik’s over-the-counter model, avoiding costly emergency room or urgent care visits.

The Global Dental Suture Market is experiencing trends towards Automated Dental Suture Devices
Dental sutures are specialized medical threads used to close wounds, injuries, or incisions within the mouth and oral soft tissues during dental surgeries and procedures. Traditionally made of materials like silk, polyglycolic acid, or polyglactin 910, dental sutures help hold gums, tissue and bones in place until healed after extractions, biopsies, periodontal flap surgeries and other operations. They promote wound healing by approximating tissue edges. The global dental suture market is driven by the rising number of dental treatments, increasing prevalence of oral diseases and greater awareness about oral healthcare. The Global Dental Suture Market is estimated to be valued at US$ 490 million in 2024 and is expected to exhibit a CAGR of 7.1% over the forecast period 2024 to 2031. Key Takeaways Key players operating in the Dental Suture Market are Johnson & Johnson, Ergon Sutramed, Hygitech, Sutumed, and B. Braun. Johnson & Johnson dominates the market with its brand Vicryl rapide. The growing demand for dental procedures such as implants, extractions and cosmetic dentistry is fueling the need for effective wound closure management with sutures. According to the American College of Prosthodontists, over 36 million Americans are missing at least one tooth. The Dental Suture Market Growth is witnessing increased focus on emerging nations for business expansions. For example, manufacturers are targeting Latin American countries where tooth decay rates are high due to rising consumption of sugar. India is also a lucrative market undergoing orthodontic treatment boom. Market Key Trends The Dental Suture Market is witnessing the trend of automated suturing devices that can significantly reduce procedure time and enhance precision of placement. Devices like Suturit and Assistina Surgical offer computer controlled suturing which is consistently faster than hand suturing and can improve clinical outcomes. Such advanced technologies are gaining popularity amongst busy practitioners. Training on automated suturing is also more standardized compared to traditional methods.
Porter’s Analysis Threat of new entrants: Low requirement of capital and technical knowledge allows new players to enter but presence of giants like Johnson & Johnson limits opportunities. Bargaining power of buyers: Large number of players and availability of alternative products online provides buyers power to negotiate on price. Bargaining power of suppliers: Raw material suppliers like polyglycolic acid have few alternatives giving them bargaining powers to hike prices. Threat of new substitutes: Alternatives like staples, dental adhesives pose limited threat with sutures having edge in safety. Competitive rivalry: Fierce competition exists between industry giants like Johnson & Johnson and manufacturers from Asia limiting their pricing freedom. Geographical Regions North America currently holds largest share of over 30% of global dental suture market value owing to highly developed healthcare infrastructure and rising dental treatments in the region. Asia Pacific is fastest growing region for dental suture market driven by improving access to dental care and growing medical tourism in nations such as India, China and South Korea with increasing middle class population able to afford treatments. Growing dental issues associated with changing lifestyle and diets also support dental suture market growth in Asia Pacific.

Eddie is such a good father. It takes a good parent to give their child the space they need but still invite someone in who can be a safe space so that Christopher is talking to someone. Giving your child that time speaks volumes of who he is as a person and a father.
He doesn’t want to bust the door down he wants Christopher to open it. He wants the privilege of being allowed back in and he recognizes that he needs to earn it. That he cannot force it upon him. Until then he’s going to do what he can to provide Christopher the support and trust that he probably feels like he’s missing from his dad right now.

Akatsuki no Yona Soowon
OK, so someone inspired me to start writing and even though that someone isn't talking to me rn and I hope well for them, I still want to share this work because why not.
I have always been a shipper of Soolili.
Soowon x lili is free from all the superficial aspects of relationships that I normally see in a shoujo story. And I simply wanted to write because this idea has been in my head but I couldn't draw it. However, it has been described well from an artists perspective. This is what I imagine when I'm drawing. The details are floodingggg innnnnnn.
ANYWAYS.......So here is MY VERY FIRST FIC EVER TO ANY FANDOM.🙈
Here is a sneak peak of the fic. Hope u enjoy. I will soon post it here and on AO3. So, read along and cheer along and lemme know your thoughts.

What are other ways to close a wound other than stitches? I have a character that's got like 4 wounds, 3 of which have been stitched. I think it would be borning to have the last one stitched what are some other options? For reference it's about 2 inches long, made by a glass shard going in.
Here you go!

Thoughts on SVU25? It's been touch and go for me and now I'm losing hope there's going to be any payoff for sticking it out.
imo there have been some hits and some (frankly astonishing) misses but the liv character work does occasionally go crazy so, like. i’m not a hater. i will continue to be seated.
also idk what “payoff” means for you but (& i’ve said this on main) it does kind of feel like dgraz is building up to a potentially incredibly cathartic endgame with all these lewis parallels. i know some people really hated that they didn’t do anything with the courthouse stuff last episode but i’m not mad about it? at least not yet. graz seems to enjoy a long game (see: the velasco storyline) & there are just…. too many signs something is coming? of course if it all goes to shit and they trudge all this up for nothing i might just lose my mind and hunt the writers room for sport, but rn i am still very much 👀👀👀👀👀

Unsurprisingly, yesterday's ordeal has triggered some issues, and due to the severity of them, we aren't able to contain them to Homelander. This goes to show you just how damaging it is to say things like that to a person. Best case scenario, you've said something vile to someone and they feel mortified that you would wish such harm upon them. Worst case scenario, you say that to a trauma victim, and they spend the next several days thinking about what happened to them, and how some people out there think it's funny to joke about it.
Never, under any circumstances, should you tell someone that you hope they are sexually assaulted. Never.
