I’m sure Dumat being defeated the same year andraste was born means nothing
I’m sure this has nothing to do with the fact that andrastes mother was part of a tribe who helped the grey wardens fight and defeat dumat the same year she was born, meaning that she could have been a fetus affected by the taint in the proximity of a dying arch demon
And the fact that nobody knows which grey warden killed dumat, as seven wardens died from injuries from his death throes, and therefore we cannot actually identify a warden who absorbed his soul, means nothing
And I’m sure it is a complete coincidence that andraste had dreams and visions of the being later referred to as the maker her whole life, and behaved strangely, talking about hearing lost voices and seeing strange auras. That absolutely doesn’t sound like anyone else we know
#dragon age#hi I don’t know if these are hot takes anymore or if I’m actually going insane#this could still work with the maker being mythal#(as in the thing that spoke to andraste. claims unverified)#there’s a theory of an 8th old god struck from record#so there’s still enough old gods to account for mythal being dumat#(the 8th old god is associated with sea monsters so that would be Ghilan’nain if that were the case. which is probably one of the ones we#see escaping)#what doesn’t add up is only two escape but there would be three left if this were the case#unless corypheus’ dragon WAS an arch demon and was razikale or Lusacan (which I believe are most likely dirthamen and elgar’nan)#which seem to be the two candidates for the other escaped evanuris#so things could add up#in terms of mythal learning about the tainted fetus stuff she could have done that observing#but it would make sense for her to learn from practice#I’ve been feeling like there’s a huge piece missing in the deal with her and the evanuris because she talks about being denied justice#and like. solas locked up the evanuris for a good few thousand years. it might not be her idea of perfect justice but surely it would be an#attempt#but what if that’s not the betrayal she’s talking about#what if the betrayal is that solas accidentally locked her in there too#dragon age theory#tagging these so I can find them

Oh right, also re: jgy's relationship to the rumors, which in Mo Village claim Mo Xuanyu sexually harassed his peers but in Jin Tower say he hit on his brother. There has been so much discussion on this post about that and I failed to bring up a crucial detail.
I don't necessarily think Jin Guangyao made that part up, but I do think he could have, and I definitely know he was willing to weaponize it wherever it came from, because during the awkward showdown in the treasure room Su She specifically cites those allegations to discredit 'Mo Xuanyu,' and cast extreme doubt on anything negative he might say about Sect Leader Jin.
Su She has known that 'Mo Xuanyu' was working with Hanguang-jun and actively using the guidao (a combination that does not look so strange when Lan Xichen totally confided in you about his little brother's tragic love for the Yiling Patriarch) since the graveyard where he went to dig up the torso, which is a good six weeks or so ago at this point.
So he and Jin Guangyao had plenty of time to workshop their angle in case that duo brought their data forward, see the smooth way jgy moves the focus to 'Mo Xuanyu' to set up Su She's context pitch and then the equally smooth pivot to 'wow what's the matter with Hanguang-jun that he's willing to associate with such a person? (they're totally fucking guys.)'
So it's almost certainly with jgy's explicit instruction that Su She is bringing up the half-sibling incest attempt accusation in front of the cream of society. Though without bringing up that they're half-brothers, for those who don't already know.
Of course, jgy also doesn't say it himself--that risks being dragged into he-said argumentation and getting the dirt all over him. But he does have his top henchman state it as known fact.
Now, I think it makes a lot of sense for him to throw that up as a smokescreen because 1) on an emotional level jgy loves to project and definitely seems to me like the kind of guy who would reach for what he fears himself to bring ruination on someone else 2) strategically, if the accusation of a known half-sibling macking on him gets out there first, then any leaks or suspicions (or, by the time Su She says it, though he can't actually know that yet, imminent direct allegations) about him and Qin Su that may arise later look like copycat rumors, and way less believable.
But regardless, his crony restating the accusation in that context means we technically have better textual support for Jin Guangyao endorsing the attempted-incest rumor than we do for Mo Xuanyu actually being gay.
So like, I'm pretty darn sure Mo Xuanyu did not actually make a pass at Jin Guangyao.
For several reasons, like for one thing hitting on your own actual brother who is also your boss is genuinely insane behavior, in a way nothing else we know about the guy actually matches, other than his reputation for being crazy which mostly seems to originate from the same point as the sexual harassment allegations. which tracks because even with rampant societal homophobia, that's such a crazy thing to do people would question it if it didn't come paired with the information that he's insane.
Then there's the fact that if that had actually happened, there's basically no way master spin artist jgy would have let it get out, because actually experiencing that would trigger his sense-of-uncleanliness issues so hard.
But what we see is that somehow Everyone Knows that it happened, but also that Jin Guangyao totally didn't tell anyone, because he's too merciful and kind and respectable. It just mysteriously leaked somehow that this private scandal happened.
(Also, to step up a meta level, the gay goth kid who was never quite accepted into his own family and wound up self-destructing was in fact guilty of the homophobic allegations spread by the powerful man who manipulates reputation for personal advantage? This is not the kind of story where that would be true. The thematic dissonance is too much.)
The only way it's believable that mxy made a move on jgy is if jgy spent a long time maneuvering him into it, hinting and deniably flirting and just generally being maximum skeeze, just a huge elaborate incestuous honeypot, just to bait a 'ruined reputation' trap. Which makes no sense at all.
I don't think jgy is necessarily above that kind of creepy grooming behavior but I do think he would hate it, and definitely wouldn't resort to it when sowing rumors would work just as well. and expose him to less risk.
So Mo Xuanyu didn't do it.
So what we've got is that Jin Guangyao systematically obliterated this kid's credibility.
No one would listen to anything he said after being expelled in that sort of context, especially anything against Jin Guangyao, whom he now has obvious motive to smear. This was a preemptive strike against some kind of leak.
It's exactly the kind of thing jgy would do--it targets individual vulnerability, leverages the weak points in Mo Xuanyu's reputation into gaping chasms, in a way that associates jgy with scandal but makes him personally look better. also shows signs of jgy projecting his own issues onto others. The MO fits.
And his motive is easy to construct: Mo Xuanyu had had access to his secrets, such as Wei Wuxian's manuscripts and probably a lot of the other ugly shit. And Jin Guangyao needed him silenced, due to some thing or other, but as with SiSi didn't want to have to kill him.
(A fascinating thing about jgy as a villain is the moments where he yields to sentiment pretty consistently contribute to his destruction.)
But then we come around to: so why didn't Mo Xuanyu sic Wei Wuxian on Jin Guangyao, then?
In cql wwx does have a curse cut for jgy, to keep him in the plot and create an additional open storyline to resolve, since viewers are gonna be denied romantic catharsis, but in cql the homophobia plotline isn't there because all the gay is censored, and mxy allegedly hit on qin su instead. which is less utterly unhinged to do though still big wtf.
In the book, mxy summoned the Yiling Patriarch just to kill the Mos. (Which he didn't even do lmao.)
So I've always been sort of poking at that, like if you're destroying your own soul to get revenge, why spare the person who deliberately ruined your life?
Even if he had done the thing, it was weird! Maybe even weirder; if you're in a headspace where making sexual advances anyone should be able to predict are unwelcome seems like a good idea in the first place, there's a pretty good chance getting punished for them isn't going to make you think you were in the wrong. Otoh there is a zone where he could have done it, gotten the backlash, cleared his head a bit, realized it was fucked up to do, and therefore not held a grudge in that particular direction, but it's still weird. (And also he definitely didn't do the thing.)
But if he was so angry, why was he not angry at Jin Guangyao? Who definitely kicked him out of the Sect, all else aside?
And then I looked at the passage in Jin sect where we swap to Jin Ling's pov and he tells us one of the few first-hand things we hear about Mo Xuanyu: He thought Jin Guanyao was the most amazing person in the whole world. He adored him.
And being betrayed and rejected by him didn't turn that into resentment. Even though he resented the other side of his family enough to want them gratuitously murdered.
So you know what I think happened?
I think Mo Xuanyu thinks it was an honest misunderstanding. That Jin Guangyao, his idol, falsely concluded that his gay little brother was creeping on him based on a misinterpretation of his admiring behavior, and was appropriately revolted. And that Mo Xuanyu doesn't blame him for it. He blames himself.
He went back to his mother's family to rot genuinely feeling like the ruination of his life was his own fault for being creepy. And died like that.
Because of that, to a considerable extent. How can you bend any of your will to saving yourself, to getting out of an abusive situation and seeking a better one, when you don't think you deserve to be saved?
Fucks me up.
#i mean i definitely tend to assume he was!#but strictly speaking all our sources on it are unreliable#the homosexuality allegations could be baseless#which would be ironic#in fact the scenario where mxy isn't gay and jgy is#but knows better than to ever let on#would make perfect sense#though it is very much not my preferred headcanon#anyway though i will NEVER be over the idea of lxc and jgy#commiserating about gay little brothers who lose you face with their gay lack of judgment#this would totally be a place where jgy's 'poor a-yao having to do A Cruel Thing' move would play fantastically#lxc comforting him about how sending mxy away had to be done#just like how he couldn't prevent lwj's scourging#mdzs#mo xuanyu#jin guangyao#su she#meta

Superbat parenting babies would be a breeze in my humble opinion. Bruce's medically well-versed enough and immune to even enhanced interrogation levels of sleeplessness, and loves kids and would probably be happy reading them stories to sleep every night.
And Clark could always tell if the kid swallowed fridge magnets/batteries/something else. Also, tell me which baby wouldn't enjoy Clark's presence and calmness. They'd be like little hamsters cajoled by the steadiness of his hold.

It's kind of funny (heartbreaking) that there were multiple Ravens who wanted a number, to the point where some tried to manipulate Jean into helping them one way or another, but none of them would have been next in line. No matter what they did, there was always someone ahead of them on the list. Someone who wasn't even on the team. That someone wasn't Neil. Neil was a surprise to everyone, including Riko. That someone was Andrew.
Kevin might have had to beg Riko to go visit Andrew, and Riko might have laughed at Kevin and dismissed Andrew when Andrew turned him down, but make no mistake, if Andrew had accepted and had become a Raven, he would have taken that #4 spot within his first year.
If we're being real, Andrew had more of a chance at becoming part of the perfect Court than any of those Ravens ever had. Even Jean thinks of Andrew as one of them.
The other Ravens never stood a chance.
#i honestly dont think any of the ravens stood a chance#if they werent inked within their first year (or begore it) then they prob never would have been even if riko lived and the nest continued#riko (and kevin) seemed to choose people to recruit already knowing they'd be perfect court#like riko tried to get neil to join the ravens already knowing hed make him perfect court (in order to keep a claim on him)#and i fully believe kevin scouted andrew with full intentions of making him perfect court#so none of those other ravens who were torturing jean ever stood a chance#it was all for naught#idk if this makes any sense#it's like 12:30am where i am and im just rambling lol i should be asleep#anyway#aftg#all for the game#the sunshine court#the sunshine court spoilers#tsc spoilers#tsc#andrew minyard#neil josten#jean moreau#riko moriyama#kevin day#perfect court

me explaining why Will/Elizabeth/Jack love triangle was a perfect little one-movie arc that wasn't present in the final movie because it was never about choosing and instead just about dynamics and character development so they all outgrew it by then
#like first off will and elizabeth are having similar character arcs but in totally opposite directions#he loses himself and gets all sad the further into the world of piracy he gets. she blooms and becomes her best self and excels at it.#and both of their arcs are supervised by jack who is there to make fun of them until it's no longer funny#will is absolutely repulsed by him but also understands him more and more once he realizes he would do anything to get to his goal#elizabeth is absolutely repulsed by him but also wants to BE him. he is what she wishes she could be were she totally free#and her possible attraction to him is treated as FUNNY because it IS VERY RIDICULOUS. like why tf would she want this weird gross guy when#she has actual perfect loverboy will at home. well bc will just doesn't get her. he is sad and lost while she is thriving#and the only one who gets it is the old smelly clown over there. why is the compass pointing at him (bc she wants to be him so bad)#that movie is about the characters not knowing what they want. they are all at a crossroads and have to choose which way to go. so it makes#sense that the main characters have a push and pull dynamic between them!!! c'mon!!!! it is so cool!!!#eernatalk#also i know pirate king elizabeth awakened something in all of us but can i add. the look she gives jack when he stops kissing her bc of th#sound of the shackles. the way she bares her teeth like she is steeling herself for the ''you deserve to die i am not sorry for this''speec#WHEEEWW.... i love my Basketbot Portal AU
#Basketball is Chell and Robot Flower is Glados#i think GB would be Cave Johnson and TB is prob just her assistant.. and Puffball would be the Turrets (because she sings so beautifully)!!#maybe Flower is Caroline?#The plot would change a bit too... this AU is more like a role insertion and not a complete perfect run of Portal/Portal 2#Basketball would still be trapped by RF to do tests and she would try to get closer to Robot Flower and try to fix her#Basketball is really smart... i think she would admire Robot Flower's innovation and creativity even if shes Evil... they looove each other#they would totally fall in love and date in the end trust#in the end i think Basketball would try to code the personality spheres off of her#maybe each personality sphere could be a character... like Intelligence Core = Pin (cake) or Book (smart and knowledgeable)#Space Core = 8 Ball (in the sense that they both have a fixation on one thing... Space and 8 yknow?)#Morality Core = Teardrop..... or actually maybe Pie? shes apathetic and i think it would be cool#Curiosity Core = Liy or Pillow... in a sense? before her huge killing spree thing i think Pillow was the very curious and experimental type#im not completely sure for Wheatley... ill think on it#omg if you read all this thank you sm ive been thinking of this for literal months#btw please tag me if you make art#bfdi#portal#basketbot#basketball x robot flower#basketbot portal au#key rambling

The thing about pitting Rhaenys (show) and Catelyn (show & book) against each other, in their reactions to their husband’s bastards, is that it completely ignores the context of their situations.
Many men fathered bastards. Catelyn had grown up with that knowledge. It came as no surprise to her, in the first year of her marriage, to learn that Ned had fathered a child on some girl chance met on campaign. He had a man’s needs, after all, and they had spent that year apart, Ned off at war in the south while she remained safe in her father’s castle at Riverrun. Her thoughts were more of Robb, the infant at her breast, than of the husband she scarcely knew. He was welcome to whatever solace he might find between battles. And if his seed quickened, she expected he would see to the child’s needs.
He did more than that. The Starks were not like other men. Ned brought his bastard home with him, and called him “son” for all the north to see. When the wars were over at last, and Catelyn rode to Winterfell, Jon and his wet nurse had already taken up residence.
That cut deep. Ned would not speak of the mother, not so much as a word, but a castle has no secrets, and Catelyn heard her maids repeating tales they heard from the lips of her husband’s soldiers.
— A Game of Thrones, Catelyn II
Catelyn understands the social rules of the society she lives. She’s been taught the belief that men having affairs and fathering bastards is normal. But even in such a patriarchal society, there has to be a level of respect afforded to the wives of the men that cheat (especially if they’re noblewomen from powerful families). In Catelyn’s case, she feels slighted because her husband raised his bastard in the same household. It is considered a social insult to Catelyn that her husband did this to her.
She had come to love her husband with all her heart, but she had never found it in her to love Jon. She might have overlooked a dozen bastards for Ned’s sake, so long as they were out of sight. Jon was never out of sight, and as he grew, he looked more like Ned than any of the trueborn sons she bore him. Somehow that made it worse.
— A Game of Thrones, Catelyn II
Obviously it’s not fair to Jon that Catelyn takes out her resentment on him. Though from her POV chapters, it’s shown that she holds no negativity towards Ned’s mystery mistress despite hating Jon. It’s impossible to hate someone you don’t even know. Meanwhile, Jon is a living, breathing reminder of her husband’s infidelity. While it would be a more reasonable reaction for her to dislike Ned rather than misdirect her negative feelings towards Jon, Ned is still her lord husband. It is easier for Catelyn to hate Jon.
When it comes to Rhaenys, her husband’s mistress and bastards are relatively unknown to her, even if she is aware of their existence. They were kept far away from her. So Rhaenys is less likely to resent them. That’s why Rhaenys addresses only Corlys with barely concealed anger but Alyn doesn’t earn her scorn. The scene between her and Alyn in episode 4 appears to be the first time those two have ever interacted. Rhaenys has not had to live every day with the reminder of her husband’s betrayal. If it’s out of sight, it can be (relatively) out of her mind.
I’m sure that the way this show characterizes its female characters as more gentler/calm individuals definitely plays a part with how Rhaenys reacts here too. Which is why the viewers are led to assume Rhaenys just quietly accepted the fact of her husband cheating on her.
In the book, Corlys never dared have his bastards around whilst his wife still lived. He kept the affair so discreet that had it not been for him personally presenting the boys at the Red Sowing, no one would have assumed him to be the father. Both Addam & Alyn were staying with their mother and serving in her fleet. In the show, Alyn is in Corlys’ fleet, and therefore more likely to come under notice (and that’s exactly what happens).
Princess Rhaenys, his wife, had the fiery temperament of many Targaryens, Mushroom says, and would not have taken kindly to her lord husband fathering bastards on a girl half her age, and a shipwright’s daughter besides. Therefore his lordship had prudently ended his “shipyard trysts” with Mouse after Alyn’s birth, commanding her to keep her boys far from court. Only after the death of Princess Rhaenys did Lord Corlys at last feel able to bring his bastards safely forward.
— Fire & Blood, The Dying of the Dragons
Not only did Corlys have an affair with a young girl (coincidentally the same age Rhaenys was when she married him), but said girl is also a commoner. Rhaenys is a princess who could have been a queen. For Corlys to make his affair public would have been a huge insult to his wife, even if he never brought up the matter of his bastards. Rhaenys would have been rightfully furious at the shame her husband’s actions bring upon her. She was the first to speak up when her position as heir was usurped so that suggests she’s not the type to just turn a blind eye to anything she considers an injustice against her. Book version has a far more fiery personality than her show counterpart. Her reaction to the truth would probably be different too.
A detail in episode 4 which I did like is when Rhaenys corrected Alyn about her title. Princess not Lady. She’s asserting her position and status in that moment. Alyn serves the Lord of Driftmark so naturally his Lord’s wife would be a Lady to him. By correcting Alyn, Rhaenys places him in the position of an ignorant who does not even know the difference between the titles. Perhaps a subtle expression of classism towards another who is very much beneath her. But the glimmer of antagonism is gone as soon as it appears. Their interaction is not simply Rhaenys welcoming her husband’s bastard with open arms.
The show leaves Rhaenys’ original reaction, when she first finds out about the affair, to the imagination. So it’s difficult to say what exactly she felt in the moment. Unlike fiery tempered book!Rhaenys, the show version is more calm and collected. She is a person who seeks peaceful resolutions to problems (similar to Catelyn) so her reaction in the show makes sense for her even if it’s different from how the book version of her may have reacted. In the HOTD canon, we’re basically getting an interpretation of how Catelyn might’ve reacted to Jon had he been raised away from Winterfell.

my stardew farmer ^_^ he doesnt have a green thumb for shit so he keeps animals and does mining
some tidbits i came up with while playing hehe
reclusive and doesnt really go out of his way to talk or visit people unless its an errand. but he also doesnt try to befriend others to get something out of it, so he has a very easygoing approach to making friends. on good terms with linus and sebastian since he runs into them most often.
if he respects or takes a liking to someone, he'll greet them with miss/mister (name). if you get close to him he starts using first name basis. if he doesn't like you, he'll refer to you by your title without using your name. only a few people have caught on to this.
the farm he inherited, Milky Way Farm, was the site of a meteorite crash and sometimes you can find shards of meteor debris littered around the farm (i picked the hilltop farm bc of this lol)
lost his sweater and pants a long ass time ago and doesnt have the time to look for them, so hes been working in his sleep clothes ever since
isnt actually grandpa's real heir to the farm... ;)
#sorry i havent been getting around to artfight attacks or art of anything lately bc my pen :) decided now would be the perfect#time to fucking bail on me :))) its gen 1 apple pen too so the fucker is discontinued hate and death on plsnet earth#like it TECHNICALLY works but only if i pair and re-pair it with the ipad until it senses it and that can be up to 38 tries#even then itll suddenly stop working if i take it off the ipad for more than 10 fucking seconds so i am not having a good time. this is the#second pen that this has happened to and i dont think its my ipad or software jesus christ. whatever. ill pretend not to care so it#fixes itself faster#ANYWAY COSMO!! Can I say something without being murdered by an angry mob? I don't think Zane has superhuman abilities. I hate when people make him the "perfect, good at everything" ninja. You're literally stripping him of his humanity by taking away his most human trait - not being perfect. I don't think he's stupid or weak by any means, he's a nindroid, it makes sense for him to be naturally a quick learner because he's programmed to perform better than humans. But I think he's only slightly above average in terms of smarts and/or skill sets, especially pre titanium Zane. And expecting him to act 100% perfect all the time takes away a big part of his character, which is being seen as more than just a machine. He's programmed to act as human, and being human means you will never EVER instantly be good at something and you'll never be absolutely perfect in everyones eyes at something. I'm begging you guys to understand where to balance Zane in-between machine and human because for some reason despite the amount of people saying Zane is more than a talking toaster, I still see the majority acting as if him not being human means he's completely perfect and unable to make mistakes.
#does this make sense at all#sorry im insane#oopsies !!!#ninjago#zane ninjago#this is mostly why everyone ganged up on him when he lost against Zur. no one expects him to make mistakes#because you've put him on such a pedestal that him not being the perfect robot you treat him as makes it seem like he's been “nerfed”#because i bet you if nya or kai would've lost that battle everyone would be calling bullshit and defending them#zane seems to be under way more pressure to perform perfectly just because hes the robot one#both in canon and in fanon.

So I rewatched the entirety of the Baroque Works saga for the first time in quite a few years, and before that I did also finaly watch MelonTeee's video essay about the East Blue Saga. And naturally I am now plagued with some Thoughts™
So in her essay (which you should go and watch if you haven't already, let's be real) MelonTeee discussed how one of East Blue's key themes was people's treasures, be it items, dreams and most importantly other people, and the way people are willing to sacrifice their lives or their own dreams to protect those who are dear to them. Rewatching Baroque Works Saga, the key, long running themes I picked up on were that of
Trust and betrayal (Laboon at the time being under the impression that his friends had betrayed him and left him to rot at Reverse Mountain; Whiskey Peak is all about backstabbing people; Little Garden was about Dorry and Broggy's friendship being too strong for either party to believe the other had betrayed them; Croc's trust issues in Alabasta being his ultimate downfall)
Friendship and unbreakable bonds (Laboon's new bonds with Luffy and co; Dorry and Broggy again; the comparison between Chopper trying to say goodbye to Luffy and co only to be denied vs Vivi's farewell)
What makes a country, a good ruler and if/when is overthrowing a ruler justified (Drum and Alabasta explore these together)
And perhaps most importantly, protecting that what is important to you. And that one in particular I feel like is the Alabasta arc's main theme on its own, as it comes up over and over again.
The Rebel Army wants to protect their country from their "corrupt king" by overthrowing him; the King wants to protect his people from needless bloodshed and tries to avoid combat; Vivi wants to protect her people but also her friends and can't find the strenght to beg them for help lest they get hurt on her behalf; Luffy wants to protect his friends and Vivi so they don't get killed by the likes of Crocodile. Protecting those you love is an important theme in this arc, it is the arc's very heart as the conflict is was born out of that love. And that's why it's so interesting to me how Crocodile's motif seems to be being a protector, a guardian. And I'm not just talking about the "Croc is based on Sobek the Egyptian crocodile headed protector god" and "Guardian of Alabasta"- if that was all then I'm not sure I'd even go as far as to call it a "motif" for him, but it comes back to haunt us again in Marineford with the ever legendary
And that is just... curious. Because Crocodile as we know him is just Some Asshole with no weaknesses and nothing he cares about except for his own ambition. So being a protector being his motif, of all fucking people, is really interesting. Like, One Piece doesn't really do shallow villians, there's always a reason to why a character has become the way they have and why they're doing what they're doing.
Kaidou was raised in an environment where one justified the reason for their existence through strenght and combat alone.
Doflamingo hates the world and wants it to just fucking burn because he never let go of the entitlement of being a World Noble.
Lucci was brainwashed into becoming a warrior for absolute justice since he was a small child.
Arlong watched his people suffer from the oppression of humans first hand and that hatred consumed his heart.
Wapol was a spoiled nepobaby manchild who thought he should be allowed to do whatever the fuck he wanted because he's King.
Why the fuck is Crocodile the way he is. Why does he want to create a utopia, a military nation powerful enough to rival the WG itself. What has driven him to to strive for that goal. Why is being a protector his motif.
East Blue explored the things you are willing to do and the lenghts you're willing to go for your "treasure", the ones you love and care about. And Alabasta is about protecting them; even if not called that explicitly, Alabasta is about protecting your treasure. On one hand, having the man with no treasure, nothing and no one he wants to protect, as the primary antagonist of the arc that about protecting your loved ones is a great juxtaposition. Like there is an argument to be made that the reason Crocodile lost is because he had nothing to lose, while everyone else in the arc had everything to lose in this conflict and thus couldn't afford it, as they'd be left with nothing. And, looking at Alabasta on its own, as a standalone arc, that does work. But when you look at One Piece as a whole, when you look at everything that came before and after, I can't help but to feel that can't be the case, can it? Surely Crocodile has something he did want to protect after all?
#Moon posting#OP Meta#Sir Crocodile#Crocodad#You fucking know what I'm getting at#''The Weakness is a Child''-theory makes perfect sense IT COMPLETELY ADDS UP *THEMATICALLY*#Because keep in mind BW follows immidiately after East Blue aka East Blue's themes still run through BW's veins and influence it too#Although the Sagas may focus on different things as their themes they're not Completely Separate from one another#Pirates have treasures and they'd do anything to protect them. The fucking lenghts Crocodile was willing to go for his ''ambition''... Like#Like there has to be something else that's motivating him. He has to has a treasure too right#Why else would he be willing to pull off the shit he did

I just learned the fascinating science fact that if not for air slowing the speed of snowfall to a gentle drift, snowflakes would plummet with enough speed to slice people. Like tiny ninja stars.
Of course, without air to hold all that moisture in the sky, snow would never condense in the first place. Unless there was some artificial snowmaker up there for some reason. Or there was a gap in the atmosphere somehow.
(I was trying to think up a sci-fi justification for lethal snowflakes. Instead I thought of a magical one.)
Hey, you know who could make a strategic gap in the atmosphere? Airbenders.
#still having fun with this#rules-lawyering the magic#it makes perfect sense#if no one's done it yet that just means no one thought to try#can you imagine how devastating that would be in a battle scenario#the enemies came prepared to hold their breath for a few seconds while they targeted the airbender#they did not come dressed for a rain of tiny knives#and I know they'd probably have bigger problems in a sudden air vacuum#but it's still an intriguing idea to ponder#writing prompts#worldbuilding#airbending#snow#fun facts
