The landscape of vigilantism and superheroism is forever shifting and changing. People die, get resurrected, betray their ideals, change their morals, go from hero to criminal to anti-hero, redeem themselves before death, it is impossible to keep track of everyone’s allegiances and fluctuating morals.

The only person able to keep all of that information straight, is Batman. He’s the only one who bothers to try. Everyone else relies on his files, the details and connections he makes sure to document, to leaf through. New people join every day and Batman learns as much about them as he possibly can.

There’s a day in the future when Bruce looks around at all the new faces in the Justice League, all of the new teams that feed into its recruitment, The Titans, Young Justice, The Outlaws, ect and realizes that his world has changed. His children are the structure of the vigilante/hero scene. He was a scaffold, allowing them to reach their potential where they would settle into place and become the structural supports for the rest of the community.

But there will always be a piece of Bruce that misses the beginning. When things were simpler and he was just settling into the League he was creating. When the faces went from new to familiar and hadn’t yet reached complicated. Some people called them the golden years or the good ol’ days, but Bruce couldn’t name them. He just missed the beginning when he hadn’t known the end.

And before anyone knows it, even Batman is gone. Finally passed on. And no one is able to recreate what he did, who he was. The way he held things together.

Instead, his children share the role. They serve as the points of contact between so many interrelated and unconnected teams. They are the bridges of communication, of sharing intel, of laying inroads. No one man keeps track of what Batman was able to, but together, his children carry on his legacy.

Plot bunny about Danchou visiting the Tower of Babyl, easily overcoming the puzzle challenges on the way to the top (it is implied that Bubs devised these to keep his opponent sharp and ready for their legendary battle) (it is further implied that Bubs really does just hang out atop the tower to train and become more powerful and that the Grandcypher crew periodically drops by more to check up on him and make sure he hasn't gotten into any trouble rather than anything else).

Once facing Beelzebub at the top, he is, as always, besides himself with glee, ready to show off the fruits of his hard labor and training. But instead of throwing down, Danchou asks him to train them, so that they may become stronger yet.

Bubs is absolutely ecstatic, rambling at length about how it will be his pleasure to mold them into the perfect warrior, uniquely suited to finally be a worthy opponent to him, to ensure their inevitable clash of Singularities will truly be one for the ages. So he puts them through some training from hell - and is really heartbroken when in the end, they thank him and take off, because they really did just want to become stronger to handle something else that's going on.

Like, a Germa Sanji who was born like his brothers but ended up gaining emotions anyway, who ends up leaving and is presumed dead for years?

His brothers would destroyed and they wouldn't be able to fully articulate why or even fully realise how, they just lost one of their own who was with them from birth and they cannot fully comprehend it since their emotions are very faint thanks to Judge.

Judge tells him Sanji was killed due to pirates and the brothers swear revenge against them and are ruthless to pirates. They somehow become even more feared and eventually they have to set their sight on the strawhats due to their notorioty and fame.

They don't think much of the blonde man named Sanji with a kick based martial arts. Afterall, their brother had black hair and was a swordsman. It isn't until much later, when Sanji slips up and becomes invisible in front of them, do they consider the possibility that could actually be their brother.

Maybe they pin him down and look for a brand, a sign that he is Germa owned like the rest of them. Maybe the capture him or test his DNA and confirm it scientifically that its actually him. Or maybe Sanji says too much and they watch him and notice how deep the similarities ran and are utterly convinced.

No matter what though, now that they are aware that Sanji is alive, they are going to do everything in their power to make sure he comes back and stays with them. They'll fix him even, make sure he regains his modifications and previous strength. Point is he is coming back with them.

Sanji is theirs, and no one is taking him away from them ever again.

ogfoofodoxx thinking about how the most defining character trait of haymitch is how protective he is. not in the sense it's the most obvious, but how all of his actions are fueled by this desire to protect. how hard he works at keeping katniss alive in the first games, him fighting to keep them from augmenting katniss's body, him yelling at plutarch to keep finnick from having to share his trauma, him being so involved in peeta's recovery and being the one to bring katniss home. him holding mayslee's hand as she died, fighting for plutarch to stay and rescue peeta, being the one to find katniss and finnick when johanna had an episode, begging coin to believe peeta's warning. it being heavily implied or either outright stated that he was one of the people who fought to protect effie.

makes me physically ill because no one does that for him. everyone who would of, died.
