What runs this world?

This is a question that I keep thinking about. It's important to know the driving force that keeps this world moving. What is it that can motivate almost everyone on this planet to do his/her job?

The answer is money. Money is an insanely powerful motivator and this is what makes everyone do their job.

Now some would say that this is obvious because money is needed to survive. While that's true, people who have more than enough money to survive and live a good life still want more money. The want of more is never satisfied. This makes both, the rich and the poor, work and work hard to get more money.

More money, is an even better life (materialistically) and insane amounts of money controls power because everyone in the government also wants money and if you can give it to them, you control them and their decisions. This is corruption explained to you in simple terms.

The point is, money is very powerful and it can influence a lot of things. Money is what keeps the world running, for good or for bad.

I can never refrain from collecting on sportexpo all the ads that are about races :). This time there was even a very interesting magazine Distance Running from AIMS for 2019. It will just replace last year's one, which I found during the sportexpo at the Leiden Marathon

Yesterday was the big WINGS FOR LIFE WORLD RUN, but only via App bc many nations didn't allow again to run at all plus bigger events are still prohibited worldwide. So the rest of us who were able to go outside for sports were invited to do the run alone via the App.

I'm used to that bc it's my 4th run as an App runner, only 2018 I did participate at the event location in Munich, Germany - that's where the medal in these pix comes from. I wanted a lil peace of celebration after I finished so I took this with me. 😅

The catcher car got me after 13km and I'm so happy and relieved about that. Maybe I could have run more but my right foot got a big blister around 10km and I'm absolutely not though so I wasn't that much fast enough anymore to reach maybe... 15km?

But that's my goal for next year. Maybe at an event location somewhere in Europe or again via App.

And still... I ran for those who can't! That's the most important thing.

I was on the New Models podcast recently and stated: Worlds are the first emergent medium of the 21st century. This statement is the hot take that drives all my professional work across various domains, and serves as the main thesis behind all the essays at worldrunning.guide.

When I refer to a “world,” I mean it in the broadest possible sense: A shared reality/fantasy/system that is internally consistent and has a boundary—an inside and an outside.

My Wings for Life impressions, I ran in Munich. I'm not fast but I wanted to run minimum 10km and I really reached my goal. I'm so extremely excited. The world Run was awesome and I'm so happy I was a part of this. All the last years I was just a selfie runner via the App, ran all alone through my hometown or another city. But today it was so crazy to be among 10000 runners at one event location.

PS: I've tried to take a selfie at the 10km sign but only half of myself is visible and everything is blurry. Muuuuahahaha.

Das war mein erster Zieleinlauf auf der Theresienwiese, es lebe die Wiesn! Besser gesagt hat mich das Catcher Car vom Wings for Life Worldrun auf der Wiesn eingeholt. Anscheinend hatte ich starke GPS Probleme, oder das System war mit der weltweiten Datenmenge total überfordert, denn anders wie auf dem GPS-Bild bin ich Runden um die Wiesn gelaufen und nicht kreuz und quer und lt. meiner Garmin waren es beiweiten auch keine 36 km, eher ein HM. Wer mir auf Strava folgt weiss wie weit es wirklich war ;-) Trotzdem hat es viel Spaß gemacht, ich bin für das DJ Ötzi Team von Clubhouse gelaufen und wir haben im Finisher Room auf Clubhouse auch schon ein wenig gefeiert. Heute Abend, Sonntag 09.05.2021 um 20:20 Uhr findet dann wieder der Lauftreff auf Clubhouse statt und da wird es wohl auch hauptsächlich um die Läufe dieser Woche gehen, den Worldrun und den Ingolstädter Halbmarathon.
