Hello Tumblr friends, stepping waaaay out of my comfort zone here.
But I've had for years an account over at worldanvil.com (also on Tumblr: @worldanvil ) And yearly they have a competition of who wrote the best thing. (World Anvil World building Awards 2024)
(WorldAnvil is a world building website, where writers, artists, readers, game developers, game players, dungeon master and so on have gathered to write down or keep track of their worlds or fiction or non-fiction. I've been writing about a fictional pirate ship roaming the seas in the current time.)
I've submitted three things for the competition. - In the category Strength and Honour, I've submitted the character article about the Captain of the above mentioned pirates. - I've submitted the whole world to the Best World category - And the timeline.
Why am I (after keeping it a secret for 4 years) telling you this? Because this year everyone, also people who are not on WorldAnvil can vote.
Rose the pirate captain
Red Sunrise, the whole project/world
Chronological events, the timeline of Red Sunrise, listing all the events the pirates end up in.
If you don't have a World Anvil account, the box will ask you for your email address. The email address will only be used to check that not the same person is voting twice. No selling to 3rd parties, no spamming you.
So yeah, 👉👈 Will you vote for those things for me?
Want to read more about the competition or vote for someone else: follow this link
P.S. there is no financial gain or anything for me in this, just the recognition among the community.

hello i know on here there's a post that I've reblogged a few times about lamenting the loss of forum boards and websites for communities and such
I've been tinkering (see: going feral holy shit) with an idea for a wow RP guild, and using my old favorite website builder, worldanvil. And my god. Lads and lasses and lemons lemme tell ya
They have forum boards now. With integrated dice rolling for play-by-post as well as the ability to post as your character (duh) but also for the storyteller to post as NPCs, including organizations that you've made articles for.
Like, look at this:
look at how clean that is! The blue box is storyteller/DM note to the players of the post. Couple this with their insanely robust website tools and this site literally fucks so hard. I constantly stumble on new and cool features on this thing, yall. If you're into worldbuilding, RP, or just crave forum-based games, please give worldanvil a shot.
(Also: any of my wow mutuals/homies that are interested in a little troll++ guild idea, let me know! DM me here or on discord)
#kalimashi empire#wow rp#troll rp#worldanvil#seriously worldanvil is so goddamn cool#freebie users get a lot of these cool tools but honestly for 12/mo it's worth it to have all this upgraded stuff too#if you're someone like me and you go feral for designing stuff i mean#longish post (for me)

Week 3 Showcase: Paruga
A city of few laws ruled by the captain's council of pirates and the three main families that enforce their own brand of justice. Check out this land of lawlessness and danger among the continuing showcase of 'The Free Cities'.
A city of few laws ruled by the captain’s council of pirates and the three main families that enforce their own brand of justice. Check out this land of lawlessness and danger among the continuing showcase of ‘The Free Cities’. The sound of violence is as common as the drunks I step over in the street. If a place was to be free it would be here, though that freedom is at the expense of security…

Since I'm trying to get more use out of my worldanvil subscription, this is now an article on my Atmos page.
What is the main currency in Atmosia? Could it be significantly different from the currency of Cyclonia, or do both terras use the same monetary unit?
I apologize in advance if you have already been asked a similar question 🥲
Nah don't worry about it :3 Even if someone had already asked this I'd just be happy to share it again. I talked about this a while back in the discord server... nearly two years ago, whoops. Time for a refresher course!
In canon it appears that Atmos uses some sort of dollar system because we see Finn in Energy Crisis buying that puzzle box with "a buck" and holding a green piece of paper that looks like a dollar bill. I find that to be a bit of a copout for multiple reasons, so here's the system I use for my lore and hope to apply in fics.
I'm starting with Cyclonia purely because they're the easier one to explain. Every Terra in the Empire is required to use the same currency (₯) for ease of access and currency conversion stations are very easy to find in most major cities and towns.
Meanwhile in the Free Atmos, currency is far more varied, and as a result being able to afford things becomes significantly more complicated.
For example currency that is accepted on Terra Atmosia and Terra Mesa ($) won't be accepted on Terra Rex (£). Terras that are close together (Amazonia, Toledos, Ray, Tropica) use the same currency (₲) due to convenience, but it's difficult to find a place to convert your outsider currency to the one you need.
Only a handful of Terras such as Saharr and Zooma will accept any kind of currency due to the fact that their economies are based off of trade, gambling and bartering, and many Terras on the edge of the Known Atmos will resort to a barter system rather than a standardised currency.
As for what the currencies actually look like, most Terras use thin metal discs (thinner than most irl coins) with small holes in the middle and engravings to indicate which currency it is and which Terras it can be used on. This is to save on materials as metal is best used in other areas such as ships.

leans casually on the wall. hi. if possibly could i know about the theories you have rn for the rtl groups trap reactions….👁️👁️
I can give you like.... 75% of one??? I guess???
I've been staring at kenta's character page for the past 40+ minutes trying to figure out what his deal is and I thinkkkkkkk I might be on to something? I've got nothing for anyone else this little shit is my area of expertise
mostly I've been staring at these bad boys
the meanings of the first and last ones is pretty easy to figure out, "a dangerous mind" is probably referring to his programming skills/being a little bitch and "what kind of a joke is trust" obviously means his cynical attitude towards interpersonal relationships
such as this line from the opening show look at me point proof explanationing
"hands that pulled away" is interesting though
I'll include that the google-translated version of the official website lists these for the tags in english
and while the dog pun in "unleashed hands" does not escape me, I feel like "hands that pulled away" is probably more accurate (and is more interesting)
to me, the easiest way to interpret these tags together is as a chain of causality, with "a dangerous brain" causing "hands that pulled away" causing "what kind of a joke is trust"
translating that out of nonsense talk, I'm imagining that kenta's trust and interpersonal issues were caused by someone, either a caregiver or circle of peers, "pulling away" from him in response to his "dangerous brain"
we can actually verify this, or a similar event, through the timeline:
specifically, this entry:
it's clear that this event was what led him to take up programming, and that his opinions on other people were mostly solidified by age 8 (although the exact nature of the virus he created is vague, it's easy to assume it wasn't one you'd make while worrying about other people. we've all recently seen what massive international tech issues can do)
this is the most concrete theory I can think of based on the information available but while I have your captive attention I'd like to pose a similar question-
-when the HELL did he get his phantometal?
this was where my train of thought went after staring at that webpage for so long
certainly, there's no way he received it before entering the prison system. it does make sense that phantometal would be circling within prisons, especially considering how... weird the one we see is.
again this is where MORE DETAILS would be appreciated, GCREST/AVEX
mostly, I propose a chicken-and-egg problem: do you obtain phantometal from succeeding in prison rap, or do you succeed in prison rap because you have phantometal?
also, the exact timeline of prison rap rankings is. nonexistent. HOWEVER, we can again use the timeline to make inferences. it's mentioned that he begins posting tracks online at age 13. given how the prison operates (and the tidbits I know about real life) it's highly unlikely he would have access to a computer for long enough periods to produce and upload music without the preferential treatment given to those at the top of prison rap. therefore, I posit that this prison rap success occurred around age 13.
we also know that possessing phantometal was a qualifying requirement for participation in rtl, so this narrows down our timeline ever so slightly
in my mind, the most likely circumstances for kenta to acquire his phantometal are the chicken-and-egg solutions from above, which places the final date near the one we established for prison rap, around age 13
I have a few ideas as to how he got it, but I'm gonna keep those under wraps for future evil purposes
but that's just a theory
a-
no I'm not doing it it's too easy
and cut
#paradox live#paralive#kenta mikoshiba#GCREST PLEASE MONKEY'S PAW IMMEDIATELY PROVE ME WRONG#DROP THE TRAP REACTION DETAILS#sorry half of this is entirely unrelated I just think WE NEED MORE PHANTOMETAL LORE#PLEASE. what is the ECONOMY how is it REGULATED#this post is sponsored by worldanvil because clearly gcrest needs it

hey I can't seem to remember if Vyrm always had that name or if he only started using it post-hibernation
He was never given a name by his mother, I think by the time he was born, that stopped being a custom (if it even was one to begin with, as wyrms never actually formed a community like other intelligent creatures). Not to mention she didn't expect him to survive very long, so in her eyes the name wasn't needed.
He chose Vyrm as his name after reducing his form - it was meant to be somewhat symbolic, as he was the last wyrm. Vyrm (or vyrmen*) was the original name of his kind, which was later modified in many languages to be spelled as wyrm, alongside some differences in pronunciation (most notably, the R sound was noticeably less of a rolled R sound than in its original form, being closer to non-existent in many accents).
In Hallownest, the softer wyrm form was used to describe his tribe in texts and everyday speech, so by default it was misspelled and mispronounced in his eyes, which slightly discouraged him from using it. But the biggest reason why it was somewhat forgotten was that, after becoming the king, terms like "your Grace" were what he was referred to in person, and to everyone else he was simply known as The Pale King. So he didn't have many opportunities to actually use it, especially since it was seen as inappropriate to get personal with his subjects.
The White Lady did refer to him by a personal name, but unfortunately in its derived form. In writing, she used Wyrm, and in speech, it lacked the "sharper" pronunciation of the name he chose for himself. He tried correcting her, but to no avail, as she often dismissed it as a triviality. Over time, he gave up, and decided to keep his actual name to himself.
So the day they met for the first time, when Grimm eventually asked him for his name, he hesitated. He was used to others bastardizing the name, and he didn't have the mental strength to keep correcting them. But he answered Grimm's question out of politeness, and was surprised when he heard repeated to him flawlessly. It felt extremely validating, and was one of the contributing factors why he opened up despite just having met Grimm.
Grimm was the only bug who respected his name at that time, so he continued to keep it private outside of their meetings, and would do so for the remainder of his rule. After waking up from hibernation years later, he was on his own, until Hornet found him. His reunion with Grimm meant that he, once again, heard his chosen name out loud, and that was when it became his official name that he would introduce himself with. Yes, there were situations where his name was, once again, misspelled and mispronounced (particularly when the speaker made the connection between vyrm and wyrm, and subconsciously used the latter), and he didn't have the confidence to correct them. But since he spent a lot of time accompanied by Grimm, other bugs were quickly made aware of their error and were able to adapt.
The respect he gained among the Dirtmouth bugs also contributed to them respecting his chosen name in return, and now, 10 years later, all of the bugs who know him use his name correctly, even if the common term for his tribe is still wyrm. But it doesn't bother him anymore, his chosen name has finally been validated and respected, and in many ways it symbolizes that he not only evolved past the cruel ways of his kind that rejected him, but also gained enough confidence to stay true to himself.
*As a little extra note - his name is vyrm, which is the singular form. So the proper name of his tribe is vyrmen, with -en forming the plural form (like in ox -> oxen, which comes from Old English). The modified form follows the regular English pluralization (wyrm -> wyrms). In my posts, to make the clear distinction between Vyrm the individual and his kind, I use the term wyrm for the latter. In-universe, this also applies, as the term vyrmen is considered archaic, and was replaced by wyrms (or The Wyrm Tribe).
#this might sound confusing so apologies for that#i want to write a separate worldanvil page for the wyrms so it will be properly explained there#ask stuff#feral pk au#au worldbuilding#save#fpk#vyrm#grimm#wyrms
