food people, transformations, pillar portals, the cloning shit, why peppino pizza is in the actual middle of nowhere, WHAT is pizzaface’s DEAL
its the kind of game where it’s obviously not meant to be that deep but i need to make shit up anyways
food people as a natural phenomenon speaks to me the most because it’s just like. oh yeah. sometimes the bell peppers start walking around. that’s normal. congrats, you have a kid now
oh no yeah it’s fine if you don’t want one, just take them to the combination grocery store orphanage. or just toss them somewhere. they’ll be fine
isn’t being in agriculture fun?

i think that invisible walls in games need to be outlawed effective immediately if for no other reason than that i feel like the inclusion of them results in boring ass games that i dont feel any urge to explore, because i know even if i do find something interesting i wont be allowed to go like. touch it. climb on it. look at it up close. it's boring! yes yes your 3d models are very beautiful and impressively sculpted but i feel like im trapped inside a snowglobe!!! let me get up in it!!!!! what are you afraid of!!!!!! some speedrunners finding weird ways to get to the end? that makes it cooler! a first time player wandering into a corner and getting stuck and having to reload? a) thats what autosave is for b) thats what level design is for and c) that happens!! let your players make their own choices and live with the consequences!!! honestly that makes me respect and like a game so much more when they give me big climbable looking geometry and then LET ME and then just let me deal with the consequences of sticking my nose in places i knew damn well could mean falling out of the world and/or dying of fall damage. tbh even more when there isnt fall damage and they just let me get stuck! its a video game! i go to it to do things i cant do in the real world! i already know what its like to avoid climbing tall things because i might fall and die. i already know what its like to have interesting looking spaces and lives be made inaccessible by forces unseen. i already know what its like to have to walk everywhere with only a half seconds sprint and a jump once a decade. just let me explore! let me run! let me climb! let me OUT!!!!
#this is about splatoon 3s main plaza and slime rancher in opposing directions#splatoon 3s plaza looks dope as hell and i would LOVE to wedge myself into some corners and find my way onto rooftops i shouldnt#and i would LOVEEEE to take a moray towers level swan dive off of every one of those things because theres no fall damage!#but no#invisible walls on every railing. youre in an office building very convincingly decorated to look otherwise#versus slime rancher has exquisitly climable architecture‚ a buckwild jump‚ and a fuckin jetpack to let you KNOW youre#allowed to do whatever you want#and there are corners you can get stuck in! thats why theres the emergency reset button! and every single time ive gotten stuck#ive been like. yeah! i was poking around! fair enough!#and they even go as far as to actually HIDE collectibles!#not just put collectibles around but like. actually hide a lot of them#there are many times where ive been poking around somewhere it felt like i wasnt supposed to be and then Found a secret#and its like!!! wow!!!#but yeah#your cool looking world may as well be a movie for all it feels i have any presence in it#is i guess the tldr#this is about games but if you squint this is also about disability and capitalism#origibberish#and still the feeling comes

#I can average like 2500 words a day for a while and then something gets in the way and I don't write for a week or something#which then sort of erases my previous Doing Good At Keeping Up With It lol.. but... alas#Still moving slowly forward...#There's a 'community board' place in game where you can go to look at a few things and some of whats there is little 'odd jobs' the player#can do for a little extra coin (since you can buy items in the game/might need coin).#Thhough of course since it's just interactive fiction/visual novel it's not like... actual minigames or something. Just like..#mini stories of your character going places and doing stuff and having some interactions with the other places in the world#Like for example since modern refrigerators don't exist in this world one of the odd jobs you can do is help with doing ice deliveries#or there's one odd job where you assist a guy recharging the city's main bell tower/time keeping place by helping him go around and replace#the iriminel crystals (kind of like magical batteries - stones that are able to store energy that way and be used to fuel passive#enchantments). or one where you help food prep for the cooks at a nearby automat. etc. etc.#Just little short things to get a better glimpse of how the wider city is outside of just interacting with the main characters. plus earn#a tiny bit of coin. Though because they're so short there's not really branching paths or anything much for choices beyond#usually an optional dialogye menu where you can talk to the person you're working with and ask them personal#or work related questions if inclined to do so. It'd be cool if they were more in depth but.......erugh...#I have so much writing left to do already lol.. Also since it's really just to get money I could have just had them#all be like a single sentence of 'you go here and you do this all day then you come home. + 15 coins. yaay' and thats all#So maybe it's a middle ground to elaborate upon them at all. Just enough extra details to maybe be a little interesting#like ''ooh my character is in a little cart riding through the misty morning forest on their way to deliver ice'' . but also not so much#that it takes away time from like... the literal actual main game lol#ANYWAY. That's what all these are. There are like 10 optional little world exploring/job things you can do. and each I guess seem to be#about 2.500 words ish. That's including the optional chatting menus though. but still. reasonable for a little side thing I guess.#I got finished with one character's quests and stuff so I decided to take a break to work on some of the other little things like the Odd#Jobs and the 8 characters you can find around the world to have short conversations with that aren't actual main characters either. etc.#Then I shall return back to the Main Actual Things. ... augh...... still so much to do...#Which I could also just cut everything extra out but... idk.. since it's mostly all text I feel the need to give more options to flesh out#the actual setting somehow. Since in a 3D game you can walk around and explore the world and stuff. And of course there#are pictures. but it would take me infinitely longer to do detailed art of so much of the entire city youre in or etc. So i guess my versio#of still having some amount of ''exploration'' is just.. set up optional paths where more of the world can at least be Described.#You can't actually walk through a 3d orchard. or an elaborate bell tower. or an elven shrine. But you can Read About being in them LOL

things i like about totk so far: the depths,
i am going to be so completely honest i thought id be able to think of more. um. this is awkward
#ive only beat the first ‘temple’ the rito one and like. i thought it was goofy. i did not take it seriously. the boss was cool the music#was banger as usual that specifically i thought was cool#i doo like the depths tho. fun to explore. pretty. ominous music. quiet. peaceful if i aboid mobs correctly#and like all the stuff that is inherent to botw/totk i enjoy the world the horses cooking the outfits etc etc#but thats not unique to totk so i dont count it#goofy ass cutscenes. weird pacing. story feels very forced and not coherent so far#really just feels like they went ok we need to make another botw and just made up whatever excuse they could#to get zelda out of the story again instead of actually writing something#putting the wagon in front of the horse situation#also botws whols thing was New Innovative Breaking Conventions#and then they went oh the New Innovative Breaking Conventions game did good? cool lets make the exact same New thing again#not how that works. sucks all of the appeal out of the whole foundation#you cant copy innovation you have to make something new#like im gomna play it anyways and enjoy myself cuz its zelda but come on man. and for 70 bucks??#killing nintendo myself#oh i like the tower cutscene link fucking blastinf out of the top of it#also pretty#im a bit disappointed in the sky islands it doesnt really feel explorable its just like hey theyre there. some of them have little things on#them or some hidden challenge. and i go ok. well what about all the empty ones that are a pain in the ass to get to#and they go shhh shshshshsh. dont worry about that. think about Parallels. symbolism.#when all i can think about it the fact i do not have my large bird friend to help me explore#being so serious loftwings would make this game better. new mode of traversal for the new environment (sky)#those robo birds suck theyre so hard to get off the islands without just falling#ive tried fucking around with the new building/tech stuff i do not like it. awkward. clunky. irritating to me#idk if thats a me issue or if other people also think its bad but. im not a fan#give me my fucking bird. it makes sense and it would work so much better. please

Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance - La Cité des Cloches
#kingdom hearts dream drop distance#khddd#la cite des cloches#scenery#my gif#the battle music that plays here creates such a cool and grand atmosphere#i'm so used to spending most of my time in the town or at the cathedral that i forget how dark and gloomy this world can be#sora has to walk past thousands upon thousands of skeletal remains and we don't even get a single cutscene of him reacting to any of it#but i like that there are at least some big open spaces that let you go crazy with flowmotion and climb up the tall buildings and towers#and that you can actually climb up the cathedral from the town square below#but one of my favorite parts in the whole game is playing through riku's side of the story in this world#i love the themes it explores and the insight it provides for his character. so good
