the ceiling looks like webbing.
my eyes ache, hollowed out like the full nights i lay awake.
i am trapped by invisible wire.
no one knows about the spiders behind my eyes.
i can't move. i can't speak. im paralyzed.
a husk made a home by the violence of the night.
now only flesh, skin, and bone:
i am no one.

The future isn't electric cars, it's public transportation. As dr. Gupta says, lithium batteries are still very polluting, and don't exist in a large enough quantity to supply the world with enough electric cars to get everybody driving one.
The path forward that I see has well arranged public transportation in a spiderweb form rather than a wordweb. All areas connected to each other rather than all transport going to the city center. It is publicly funded through taxes so you don't have to pay every time you use the train or take a bus.
For the elderly and the disabled there are special taxis upon request. You can rent a car or a van when you really need one, electric ofc. But you have to specify the reason and if it's something dumb like 'going to the gym by car' it can get denied.
If you need a car for your job because you work in emergency services such as GP, cop, etc. you drive one from your work, which you park at your workplace at the end of your workday, after which you take public transport home. You need a special dispensation to drive a car. Your workplace needs a special dispensation to own and let you drive a car.
And imagine all the things we can do with the space that is freed up. First of all, cars actively discourage community, so neighbourhoods become a lot more social. All the extra lanes on highways that are suddenly no longer needed can be turned into strips of forests which work noise reducing. If all cars are electric and the amount driven falls by like 85% (I am pulling this statistic out of my ass, this is by no means based on any actual data) there will be significantly less noise anyway.
We can take parking spaces and turn them into pollinator gardens, community gardens, sensory gardens for children.
We can get on roads again without fear of being hit by some loser with a god complex and a tin can murder machine. We can walk, bike, convene, live.

Villain: wicked or evil person; someone who does evil deliberately; principal bad character in a film or work of fiction (WordWeb). I'd like to add to that: character who refuses to cooperate with your plot. I started with the definition …Continue Reading→
I really enjoyed learning the history of Pietas. In many ways, he is similar to my interpretation of Nyarlathotep in my Tales From The Dreamlands series. Nyarlathotep can be brutal, but rather than being the overt destroyer of worlds that his reputation makes him out to be, he gives the power-hungry sorts who call on him enough rope and allows their hubris to destroy them. He treats those who call on him out of desperation entirely differently. He sends them on quests that appear to be wild goose chases while not correcting their belief that he is a merciless deity who will smite them if they don't obey. After all, he has a reputation to maintain!

Anyway some actual good advice—I’ve had WordWeb downloaded on my phone since 2010 for a dictionary, and for the last several years also the Etymonline app (etymology app bc I love that shit). When I’m curious about a word or confused about its exact meaning, I just check wordweb. It does a good job telling you whether a word is regional, gives you synonyms and antonyms, a pronunciation guide (also with regional variations), and other forms of the word.
For desktop browsing, I have a dictionary extension that tells me the meaning of a word when I hover over it. Not as good as wordweb, but decent in a pinch! Though I believe wordweb also has desktop apps that do the same thing as on phone. You can save particularly interesting words. And Etymonline is a website!!!
When I’m reading a physical book, I usually write down the definition of a new word in the margin so I always have that to refer back to when I’m rereading.
Bone apple read!

Opportunity is the word I would ban? Here's why?
I will ban opportunity! Or any of it’s synonyms. According to WordNet (you can download WordWeb to access this dictionary) an opportunity is a possibility due to a favourable combination of circumstances. Chance is a synonym. The reason I would want it banned is not because it’s bad after all. Some people are complete failures in their lives because they have waited for the greater part of their…

Twenty-something woman held captive: How pampering parents can become prison wardens.
Love is a strong positive emotion of regard and affection~according to Wordweb. We all love love and love to be loved. Parents love is the most consistent and unbeatable love known in this world. Well, there is a myriad of exceptions; we have all seen child abuse and domestic violence cases. Love, however, can translate into many things. For some, it can translate into obsession; which can…

So I’ve been using a thesaurus/dictionary app on my computer for around a decade now. It’s faster than googling and overall nicer to use.
Every now and again, it comes up with this popup:
Tumblr media
Thinking it was a promotion of some sort I always just hit ‘I did not fly’, also because I never did anyway.
Today it came up again and, realizing it was kind of weird that some thesaurus app had what I thought was an airline promotion, I hit the ‘What’s this about?’ button.
This is what it linked to:
Tumblr media
Transcript: [“Global greenhouse gas emissions are currently around 5 tonnes of carbon dioxide per person per year, and probably need to be reduced to zero within the next decades to have a good chance of avoiding more dangerous heating. Most computer users are responsible for far more emissions than is sustainable. For example two short-medium distance return flights can be equivalent to over 1 tonne of emissions1: more than an average person can safely emit over an entire year.
If you do not qualify you must uninstall the program after the 30-day trial period or purchase WordWeb Pro. The licensing model is designed to allow relatively non-wealthy people to use the program free of charge, and to provide a small incentive for other people who fly a lot to cut down.“]
Was fucking not expecting to run into that but props to WordWeb for sticking to their guns I guess????
