OJT EATS | Brasserie Marceline
There's been a bit of a blossoming of new restaurants in the new Wood Wharf development in Canary Wharf with places like Roe, a new Dishoom and this new French Brasserie, Brasserie Marceline.
Taking up a big chunk of one of the floating restaurant spaces next to Wood Wharf, the restaurant is an impressive size and is definitely decked out like an old school grand brasserie.
This dish is probably the dish you are most likely to see on social media. It's their ravioli dauphine with comte, creme fraiche and brown butter. We didn't think it looked quite as impressive as some of the photos we'd seen but it was awfully tasty.
These were their moules frites. A pretty generous serving of mussels in white wine, garlic, parsley and of course butter. The mussels were fresh and plump and the sauce was buttery and fragrant. It brought back memories of when Belgo was still around (these were actually probably better).
The fillet steak with a sauce au poivre. The fillet isn't our favourite cut of steak but this was cooked to perfection and the sauce was deliciously more-ish. If we were to order a fillet steak again, I think it would be this one.
The rotisserie chicken came with another incredibly more-ish sauce that was great for dipping bread and fries into. The chicken itself was really good without quite being exceptional.
This was the sugar pit pork chop which was a super juicy perfectly cooked slab of meat with a very flavourful sauce. If anything the sauce was just a tiny bit too salty for our tastes but still an excellent dish.
We couldn't have all this food without some fries. These were almost surprisingly good. They look almost like Mcdonald's fries but are a little bit crispier but still fluffy inside. So good!
Finally for dessert, we had the profiteroles which had the chocolate sauce poured over at the table which provided a nice little bit of theatre. Instead of cream, the profiteroles were essentially mini ice cream sandwiches which was a little disappointing because we do love us some whipped cream! They were still very good though and we'd happily order these again.
Marceline is a great addition to the Canary Wharf restaurant scene. It's an all day affair with a nice buzzy atmosphere and delicious food. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the wharf and looking for some food!

OJT EATS | Roe
We've always been big fans of Fallow near Picadilly Circus and so when we heard they were opening a bigger restaurant in the new Wood Wharf development near Canary Wharf called Roe, we started looking forward to giving it a go. When we heard about a half price offer on their brunch menu, we couldn't resist so off we went.
We had to order at least one of their signature croissant royales. This one was the classic Royale with Cheese. It's a sausage patty, cheese, bacon, a fried egg and walnut ketchup all sandwiched in between 2 flakey, buttery halves of a croissant bun. These were also available at Fallow and are super tasty. The fact that they are very aesthetic doesn't harm them flying off the shelves but they luckily taste good enough to back up the hype.
We also ordered some hash browns which were amazingly crisp with a ridiculously fluffy interior. The walnut ketchup it came with had a really sharp tang to it which we're not sure we loved but we gobbled up these very quickly!
The only other thing we ordered was this eggs benedict flatbread. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the ham was thick cut and the bearnaise was rich and indulgent. This was all on top of a fluffy chewy flatbread - so good!
As brunches go, this was excellent; especially at 50% off! It's a great addition to the Canary Wharf food scene and we'll definitely be looking to try out the dinner offerings here as soon as we can!

Truck Stop
This was the first 4th of July I spent outside of the US EVER! While I love living in London, the 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays - especially since I'm from a small town that goes all out with a festival, fireworks and parade. Plus I'm a sucker for all things patriotic (I may have had a 'Party in the USA' themed birthday party or two).
When I saw that the masterminds behind Street Feast and Tweat Up were teaming up to present Truck Stop, which just happened to launch on the 4th of July - I knew it would be the perfect place to celebrate.
Truck Stop is a gathering of the 20 of the best food trucks in London. Having seen (and drooled over) pictures from friends at Truckeroo in Washington DC, I was excited that London was getting its own version.
You can visit Truck Stop the first Thursday and Friday of the month through September at Wood Wharf (you can find all the details here). Tickets (available here) cost £10 and get you entry plus 10 Truck Stop dollars to use at the bars.
