Obi Wan Kenobi’s lightsaber from A New Hope, made with maple, mopane, lacewood, African Blackwood, and redheart on a walnut stand.
This one was fun but Blackwood sure is hard to carve. I also did a bit of pyrography on this one, which did warp the lid of the slidy box but it sort of unwarped as it cooled after I stuck it in the vice so it does work.

sick ass box
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look at this sick ass box I made
Its made from bocote a wood found in mexico that also somehow smells like pickles
anyways one of the wonderful things about being a craftsperson independently is you can set your prices
Ie I've told single parents or young teens prices lower than I usually charge
Also one time a cop came up and I charged his ass ten dollars extra
Can also do that if someone is being a dick
Mf didn't bat an eye

Turned a random bowl out of walnut, was mainly just messing around with the external curve. Now it is holding clementines.

A neat little project to hide away a messy corner in an entrance way. All the meters crammed into the same space making the area awkward and difficult to work with. MDF construction with flip down sections to allow access. Shoe storage below finished in a shaker style. Customer to paint, more photos to follow.

I just realized something very silly
I watch 3 main woodturning YouTube channels; WoodWorkshop, Andy Phillip, and Jack Mack Woodturning
I refer to them by name when talking about them, but WoodWorkshop does not advertise their name, so I call them Woody
Woody. And another channel I watch is by Andy
Andy and Woody
I just need to find a woodturning channel with a guy called Buzz and I'll have Toy Story
(You're ruining the vibe here, Jack Mack. Change your name already)

Elzar Mann’s lightsaber made with lacewood, Mexican rosewood, and African rosewood, with a cherry stand.
Finally completed the firebrands’ lightsabers! Good reference images for Elzar’s hilt were really hard to find but I got the high republic lightsaber book recently so now I have reference for everything.
I thought the Mexican rosewood would be darker before I cut into it but it turned out to have a really dramatic grain pattern, which is really nice, just not what I was expecting. It’s also quite hard so you can get a really smooth finish.

Did this the other day and hadn't gotten to posting about it. About two years ago I built my new workbench, and installed a vice (original post under the break), then never went back and made a handle. Instead I was using whatever scrap I could find at the time. Now I have a nice handle!

The fun part is it's another piece built from wood off my land.
