OC INTRODUCTION ❣ LYSANDER (ver. 2.0)

"Ah, good seeing you! I was just making soup. Do you want some? It's alright, I can share."

The infamous Ramshackle Prefect. Despite having a reputation of always being where the trouble is, he's actually a pretty calm, quiet person who usually stays out of action until he's pushed directly into it. Suffers from amnesia; his main drive is his intense desire to find new friends and family.

PERSONALITY

Usually standing on the sidelines and not speaking much unless spoken to, Lysander tends to get overlooked by others. If not, others may think him to be anti-social and unapproachable; his usual grave expression certainly doesn't help his case. However, it cannot be further from the truth.

Lysander is a kind-hearted person who deeply cares for others and is always willing to put their well-being above his own, often to a unhealthy degree. He hates being lonely and desperately wants to have friends, but his quite isolated upbringing didn't give him much of a chance to learn how to properly socialize with others. While he's not exactly shy, it's hard for him to make the first step. He's never quite sure how to approach other people or maintain relationships with them. The fact that he's not exactly a great conversationalist doesn't help him - he feels like he's never learned how to properly talk to people and so he second guesses his every word, worried that he had once again missed an important social cue, which he's prone to doing. In turn, he considers talking quite tiring and definitely prefers listening to others.

Famously bad at saying "no" to people, even when he knows he will regret the decision later; he's just too afraid that refusing to help others will make people hate him and he can't stand seeing his friends inconvenienced. Feels responsible for other people's problems, which probably stems from the fact that he was forced to care for his entire house ever since he was very young. Not that suddenly having to deal with a bunch of traumatised teenagers helps with that.

Really sensitive and emotional, a hopeless romantic at heart, and also, unfortunately, really prone to stress. In crisis situations, his usual response is freeze.

Not used to having much free time, he's always busing himself with something. If it's not cleaning Ramshackle then it's tending to his garden or helping his classmates with their homework or working shifts at the Mostro Lounge. No matter what it is, he simply cannot sit still. He's highly independent and while he does everything to help others, he hates getting help from anyone and tries to do everything by himself. Refusing help is about the only time he will firmly stand his ground and say no.

BACKSTORY

He would love to know as well! The past comes to him in flashes, often triggered by sensations related to the memory. What he had remembered so far doesn't particuraly make him want to go back.

He remembers living in a big, old house, not that different from Ramshackle. He remembers his bedroom, spending long, empty days there, looking out the window. He doesn't remember anything about his parents, just his grandma. She's a looming, dreaded presence in all of Lysander's memories. Any potential siblings or relatives - he doesn't remember anything about them either. Maybe he never had any.

But most imporatntly - he remembers the deep, overwhelming sense of loneliness that seemed to follow his every step.

RELATIONSHIPS

Grim: “He's a bit horrible sometimes, but he's my kitty! Ace says I enable him too much and maybe that's true, but honestly I don't know what I would do without him.”

Riddle: “Poor boy. He was quite horrible to me in the beginning, but…I don't really blame him. There's something about him that makes me almost relate to him, you know? I try to meet up with him for tea when I can. He's a quite good companion once you get to know him.”

Ace: “Honestly, I never thought I'd be friends with somebody like him. Not in a bad way! But he's just so bold and brazen, I wish I could be more like him… He won't stop calling me an old man though…”

Deuce: “He's just such a darling! I can see he's always trying his best, so I try to help him out with his studying when I can.”

Trey: “He’s a sweetheart! And he knows so much about baking! I didn’t have much time to indulge in making sweets before but he’s always willing to share some advice as long as I help him out in the kitchen, which is so nice.”

Cater: “Cater was actually one of the first friends I’ve made here. Don’t get me wrong, I love Ace and Deuce, but it’s nice to have somebody closer in age to converse with. And it can be confusing when I’m new at school while everyone seems to already know everyone, but he always knows all the rumors so I don’t feel lost with him.”

Leona: “He’s a bit scary but I know he has a good heart deep down. Not good enough to let me pet his ears though…”

Ruggie: “Sometimes I feel bad for him. It seems that life hasn’t been kind to him, and he’s always working so hard! Sometimes I cook too much so I can give the leftovers to him - it’s the best I can do.”

Jack: “He’s always so serious but he’s such a sweet boy. Sometimes I go to Spelldrive matches just to cheer him on, though I’m still not quite sure if I even understand how the sport works.”

Azul: “I know some people don’t trust him but he was always nice to me! When he saw that I’m struggling with money, he offered me a job, which I think is awfully nice of him. He pays me fairly and I think that’s all that matters.”

Jade: “He’s actually quite nice! He knows a lot about different flora and he’s always willing to talk about it, too. We don’t really spend much time together but I love listening to him when I can.”

Floyd: “I- I don’t want to be mean, but there’s just something about him that makes a shiver run down my spine. I prefer to not be alone with him if I can.”

Kalim: “What a darling! He’s always so sweet and nice to me, it’s a delight to be around him. I just wish he’d stop offering he’d share some of his family riches with me… I’m running out of ways to refuse, which is quite awkward.”

Jamil: “We’re not really close but I do respect him a great deal. I wish I could help him and Kalim somehow, but I guess some things are outside even my capabilities.”

Vil: “He’s really intimidating, I used to be a bit afraid of him. But he’s actually really sweet once you get to know him! He has helped me a lot with many things and I’ll forever be grateful to him. I think he’s one of my best friends, though I’m not sure if he thinks the same about me…”

Malleus: “I know well how it is to not have any friends, so I’m always happy to offer him company. We seem to understand each other and he never expects me to talk a lot which is awfully sweet of him.”

obviously, one of his favorite ways to spend time with you is to smoke. he loves the way you look when you're puffing on a joint. he thinks it's so cute the way your eyes get red and lidded, and you're laughing at everything and anything.

he's not one to really leave his house all that much. expect most activities to be done at his house. but, if you're not at his house, he likes to spend his time outdoors. going on hikes, to the park, anywhere where he can be in nature is ideal to him.

when you do spend time together, eren can be clingy. he'll be cuddling you like his life depends on it while you read a book or watch tv. he always has a hand snaked around your thigh or his arm around your shoulders.

absolutely everything!!! you're perfect to eren!

he really admires your personality. you're like his other half. there's so much about your charm and charisma that he's drawn to

he would do anything in his power to make you feel better. even if it means running to the store at 3am with slippers and pjs on, he'll do it.

eren is the dedicated type. if he is in a relationship, he takes it very seriously. he probably decided that he wanted to marry you before you two even started dating.

he wants a nice, cozy house for the both of you. he would prefer you not to work, simply because he wants to provide for you.

and what about kids? well, that would be up to you, and what you prefer. he wouldn't mind having kids or not having kids. as long as you're with him he's happy.

E qual - Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?

dominant. he likes to take charge with anything and everything. date night? he wants to choose the place and what you're doing there. night in at home? he wants to choose the movie to put on. expect eren to be dominant, regardless of the situation.

of course, he gives you the freedom to choose if that's what you want, but prepare for him to make a lot of... suggestions. suggestions that he really wants you to follow.

eren is the type to hold a grudge. however, when he sees you looking at him- begging, pleading with him, he has a hard time being angry. he forgives you easily (a little too easily) but is more stern with others.

he seems like the type to let him emotions out like a flood. it doesn't take that much to set eren off, so he ends up telling you how he feels very often, whether it be good or bad.

when there's a bad fight, he needs some time away to smoke and think. he'll never let you leave upset, but there are times where he needs a moment to decompress and calm down, so he doesn't say or do anything he regrets.

G ratitude - How grateful are they in general? Are they aware of what their s/o is doing for them?

eren is extremely grateful. he makes a silent note of every amount of affection that you show him, every laugh you grace him with. everything and anything you do makes him feel thankful you're there.

he's aware of what you do for him, and will tell you he loves you and appreciates you at random times during the day. he'll give you gifts out of the blue, just because he thinks you'd like it or it reminded him of you. he writes letters for you and draws funny pictures for you. he wants you to know he doesn't take you for granted.

eren talks a LOT so even if he did try to keep a secret from you it would eventually come out. he is as open and honest as he can be, and expects the same from you. he believes that open communication is the only way to work together.

I nspiration - Did their s/o change them somehow, or the other way around? Like trying out new things or helped them overcome personal problems?

most likely both you and eren changed each other for the better. eren's tenacity and grit helped you gain more confidence. your love helped eren have a soft heart. he learned to not take things as seriously with you and to enjoy and appreciate what's around him.

absolutely the jealous type. gets very jealous very easily as well

you're talking to a guy for too long? he's jealous. someone is flirting with you? he's extremely jealous, borderline furious at the person trying to flirt with you.

the best way to help eren is to give him lots of cuddles and kisses. he just needs the reminder that you're his and you aren't going to leave him.

lazy sloppy kisser. his kisses are heavy and passionate, full of love. his lips are super warm too.

your first kiss with eren was probably very casual. you were smoking with eren in his car, when the subject of romance came up. you mentioned that your kissing could use some work, when he simply said, "wanna practice with me?"

has sloppy make out sessions while you two hotbox in his car. he'll be gently biting your lip, climbing on top of you while he runs his hands all along your body, feeling every inch of your skin. he gets very affectionate when he gets high.

would probably confess his love the second you two do anything remotely romantic together. you place your head on his shoulder? he's thinking about confessing.

he would just wing his confession. he wouldn't have a script planned or "ideas" on what he could say. he simply lets his feelings out the best way he can.

he fears rejection so there's a good chance he may be a little distant once he confesses, even if you reciprocate his feelings. it's nothing to take personally, he's just so caught up in the idea of losing you it makes him shut down.

eren 1000000% wants to get married. he wants to take it slow, however, and ease into marriage.

wants all his friends and family to be at your guys' wedding. he thinks marriage is something worth celebrating, especially with everyone important in his life

darling, baby, angel. anything endearing and romantic, eren will probably call you it at some point. he loves nicknames. but darling, baby, and angel are the main nicknames he has for you.

always wants you to call him by a nickname. his favorite nickname for him is 'ren. his heart melts every time you call him that.

O n Cloud Nine - What are they like when they are in love? Is it obvious for others? How do they express their feelings?

when eren was crushing on you, it was painfully obvious. he tried his best to hide it but his feelings are so strong, it's hard to contain himself.

eren expresses himself very vocally, but, before you started dating, he was rather shy. he was hesitant to talk about certain subjects, especially if they involved romance of any sort. you would notice that he would clam up if you started talking about dating, or asked him if he was interested in anybody.

before you two started dating, eren's feelings would come out in bursts, since he had a hard time containing it. he would surprise you with gifts or compliment you on your outfit, making it painfully obvious that he fancied you.

you figured it out pretty early on, but decided to keep it to yourself just in case you were wrong. you were happily surprised when he finally confessed his love to you, since you assumed he would never actually confess.

P DA - Are they upfront about their relationship? Do they brag with their s/o in front of others? Or are they rather shy to kiss etc. when others are watching?

eren is upfront about your relationship, but he isn't one for alot of PDA. he might give you a kiss or two, but he's rather withdrawn when it comes to being affectionate around others.

he won't hesistate to make it known that you're in a relationship, however. if he notices that someone has been eyeing you, then he doesn't care about being grabby. he'll put his head on your shoulder or give your thighs a quick squeeze if it means that someone will stop giving you unwanted attention.

eren has an undying determination which can be helpful in achieving your goals. expect eren to try and try and try again to make you happy, he won't ever give up if it means you're content.

he also has the ability to push you to do things you never thought you'd be able to do. he never forces you to do anything, just reminds you that you're a lot more capable than you think you are.

eren is very romantic. for him, showing physical affection is the best way to express his love. he always wants to be holding you or giving you small kisses. eren just wants you to know that he loves you, the best way he can.

eren seems like the type to be romantic in very cliché ways. he'll put on a romantic movie or write you a gushy letter if he's feeling sappy.

one of the more romantic things he does is have "smoke sessions" with you. you two will cuddle in his car for hours, blowing smoke into each others mouths while you kiss.

eren is super supportive. expect him to go out of his way to help you achieve your goals. that's just how he is. he will do anything in his power to see you thrive.

eren prefers to be very spontaneous. he usually does things based on how he feels about them. if he's bored, or high, he wants to explore everything around him. he might randomly wander off while you two are walking if something catches his interest.

eren will go out with you at unpredictable times. you might go on a date at 6 am or 10 pm, depending on how he's feeling at the time.

eren knows you very well. he can read you, knowing when you're upset or delighted based off your body language alone. he also knows what does and doesn't set you off, and is always mindful of not pushing your buttons.

he makes sure that he has your favorites written down somewhere so that he can always refer back to it. he doesn't really need the list (he's pretty much memorized everything that you like and dislike) but he has it just in case there's something new he needs to add.

eren can get caught up in his own emotions, to the point where he doesn't realize your emotions might differ from his. he has to remind himself to be more empathetic, but he still shows empathy.

eren values your relationship with him more than anything else. there's nothing more that he wants than to have you with him, loving and experiencing life with him.

even in your worst fights, eren won't let you leave angry. he always tries to resolve it with you as soon as possible, he hates fighting with you. he just wants you by his side all the time, through thick and thin.

W ild Card - A random Fluff Headcanon.

eren's hair is everything. he wants you to play with his hair while you two cuddle, pouting until you run your hands through his hair.

his hair also tells alot about how he's feeling. when he's more serious and intimate, he tends to tie his hair up. when he's laid back and casual, he has it down. either way he has his hair, he looks absolutely adorable and always wants his hair played with.

gets super affectionate when he's high. in a daze, he wraps his arms around you and holds you for what seems like hours, simply wanting the moment between you two to last forever.

X OXO - Are they very affectionate? Do they love to kiss and cuddle?

in private, eren loves to show you just how much you mean to him. he's kissing you while walking by, asking you to come cuddle with him, or playfully grabs your hips to pull you closer to him. the best way he can show his affection is through physical contact, so expect his hands to be all over you constantly.

Y earning - How will they cope when they're missing their partner?

eren needs to be around you in some sort of way. if he's not with you physically, there's lots of texting. he has a hard time being without you, so to distract himself, he texts you. he might just send you a random picture or an invitation to play 8ball, but just knowing you're spending your time with him is all that matters to him.

also, he will randomly facetime you if he gets bored/misses you. sometimes it's just a call that lasts a few minutes, him ranting about some asshole in line at the store, or him just wanting to hear your voice. other times, calls will last hours, the two of you peacefully doing your own thing while occasionally having a conversation.

Z eal - Are they willing to go to great lengths for the relationship? If so, what kind of?

eren would literally burn the world to see you smile. he'll go to great lengths just to see you happy. there's nothing that will stop eren from ensuring your happiness. he knows that you can't be happy all the time, but ultimately, there's nothing more that eren wants than to see your smile.

would literally fight anyone to make you happy. you tell him constantly that he doesn't need to fight anyone - him getting arrested wouldn't make you happy. but every time there's someone being a jerk to you, he'll turn to you and ask "babe, you need me to fight him for you?" to which you have to politely decline.

Hi! I do have a question or two about the American public school system (as a Canadian). First of all, are football and cheerleading really that big? No school I’ve gone to has ever had football. I don’t think I’ve ever played football. Second, how many periods are in a day and how long? For us it’s four 1h20m blocks, two in the morning and two in the afternoon. And what is a passing period? And are your bells really like the brrriiing! that we see? ok thanks :)

Firstly- I mean, sort of? At my school, we have numerous sports posters in the hallways, and then we have banners of senior (final year) athletes there too, but those are for all sports, and the marching band. And usually the jags in class are football players. Cheerleading is a bit more neutral. I know people on the cheer squad who I get along with and others who I really don't. In reality, the athletes generally are the worst. I guess that's not really what you were asking, uhhh. Okay, in regards to NPMD specifically, the big game, people being very into that? It's very likely. While my school doesn't have like 'rivals,' in the soap operatic universe, it makes perfect sense to me that they'd get more into the Clivesdale game than into the HoCo game, which we don't even get to see the prior of. Most schools have pep rallies for the HoCo and final games, I believe. I'd say the first game too, but I actually think football games start before a lot of school years. The biggest sports, at least at my school, are Football and Basketball. I hear a little bit about soccer and swim too, but barely. I believe that Football, Basketball and Soccer are generally the only ones with cheerleaders, while Football and Basketball usually have both cheerleaders and the band.

Secondly, the periods here are about 45 minutes. At both of my high schools, we've had three different lunch periods, A, B and C. So, for example, I had A lunch for my freshman year at my homeschool, and my junior year at my vocational school. At my home school, during my B and C periods, I'd spend the entire time, and hour and a half, in a single class. At my vocational school, you just keep switching classes like normal. I believe that both my home and vocational school have 9 periods, although it's technically 8 at my home school since it goest 1, 2, 3, 4, 5A, 5B, 5C, 6, 7, 8, while at my vocational school it's 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.

Third, Passing Period. This one is quite simple. Most schools have 3-5 minutes to move from class to class. A bell goes off signifying the end of your current period, and then after a few minutes, a second bell goes off signifying the beginning of the next class. That's when teachers take attendance, and that bell it what let's teachers know when a student is tardy. This is a special case, so I don't think it's super common, but during my freshman year, the pandemic was still a pretty big concern, so we technically had a 6 minute passing period. Bell one: Freshmen and Sophomores (9-10) would go to their next class; Bell two: that's when 9 and 10 classes should be in their next period, and when Juniors and Seniors (11-12) left the classroom. Bell three signified the end of passing period, and when Juniors and Seniors had to be in class. It was to avoid so many people in the halls at once.

Fourth, the school bell: it depends on the school to every degree. At my elementary school (kindergarten-6th grade) there was no bell at all. In my middle school (7-8), it literally sounded like a hockey buzzer when I went, but is much more calm now, just a prolonged key. At my home high school (9-10) it is like four or five quarter notes of the same key. At my vocational school (11-12), it's much more... inconsistent? The building is quite new, so things are still shifting. Last year it was just a prolonged key as well, but most days this year it's been like a bunch of sixteenth notes? It sounds like you shoved the speaker for the bell underwater and it's just bubbling out in chunks. I am very sure that there are still schools with the classic briiing bell sound. My first couple visits to the high school in my town (my home high school) there were still the bells on the wall, they just weren't active.

(PS: A vocational school is a school that you attend specifically to study a specific career path during your high school years, usually to avoid the need for college.)

I feel like I should talk more about the mysterious Pokémorpher that's been a part of my account since the very beginning: Shiftry Mask

Hello Idolstart followers, this is Professor Parasol. My current study is in the Pokémorpher phenomenon, and I'm currently helping oversee the Pokémorph Tag Team Tournament here in Morpho Island.

I'm currently here to share the current info about Shiftry Mask and hopefully answer some questions you might have about this thorn in our side.

It's worth noting that the way that Shiftry Mask acts is very odd, and I want to tell you why. I have also provided a picture for reference.

First off, they like to get into fights with Pokémorphers on Morpho Island by ambushing the target. It has worked every time. When Wally asked why they do this some time ago, they simply put "To become stronger." There also appears to be a pattern in who they target, but we can't exactly what the pattern is, other than youngish. We'll let you know if we figure out this pattern

Next is that they don't speak, we don't know if this muteness is by choice or not, but every time they'd get asked a question, they'd answer by ether using gestures or writing their response down with pencil and paper. Wally has noted that they left a note after their battle with the aforementioned answer.

Then there's the fact that they don't have a fan weapon. That may have sounded silly, at least to me. But every other Shiftry Morpher has had a fan weapon, and according to my assistant, this means something important, but I'm not inclined to believe him just yet, especially if we can't explain why this is of note.

And finally, Shiftry Masks' fighting style appears to be a mix of different eastern and western fighting styles. Although it mainly appears to have influences from fighting styles from the United West Regions (that's where the US regions are) and the Yamato Province. (Where all the JP regions are) We couldn't figure out which fighting styles specifically, but at least we know that the fighting styles they took inspiration from appear to come from these particular region collections.

Now, I want to end this post with results from our q&a attempt for Shiftry Mask. They allowed us 1 question each. It was me and 3 others, so we had 4 questions in total.

To My Star - Music

It has been 6 months since @gillianthecat requested a music analysis of To My Star. I said I’d do it in a few weeks and I started it then shit life happened but I wanted to actually do the analysis so here it is…a million years later. I will say this might be a bit disjointed because some of my notes are from 6 months ago and the rest are from the past week so apologies in advance for that. I did want to make this a longer post since it’s been so long since it was requested so I might have gotten a bit carried away.

As always this is my disclaimer that I’m just an idiot with a somewhat decent ear and I enjoy soundtracks. I am wrong sometimes so take everything I say with a grain of salt.

Before I get into specifics, my general thoughts are that it’s a fine soundtrack. It’s not my favorite, but it does work very well for the show. It does a good job of keeping the tone that the show is setting. Most of the time the soundtrack helps set the tone of the show, but for To My Star it felt like the actors really set the tone for the show and the music followed. It wasn’t as cohesive as I really like, but it worked well enough that it didn’t stand out as not working. But with that said, I did really enjoy it. Overall it felt like they sampled youtube’s royalty free music catalog except for certain instances, but what they did choose to do actually worked really well but more on that later.

One of the main thingsI noticed when doing my rewatch for this, is that To My Star utilizes silence quite a bit. While there are some instances of music when Han Ji Woo and Kang Seo Joon weren’t around, for the most part, the music only followed their story. Other characters were mostly given silence when they were the focus, which was an interesting choice. It worked for TMS because it wasn’t the only time there was silence. There was always silence during Han Ji Woo and Kang Seo Joon’s important moments. The music waited until something was said before coming in and joining the scene. So it wasn’t as jarring as it would have been to have silence for the other characters. The silence being used for Han Ji Woo and Kang Seo Joon’s important moments made it so when it was silent for the other characters, the audience paid attention because their part in the story is also important. TMS is ultimately about Han Ji Woo and Kang Seo Joon but it’s not just their story as they are impacted by the other characters around them.

But as it is Han Ji Woo and Kang Seo Joon’s story, what were some of their big moments that were impacted by silence? There are a few but I’m only going to talk about what I think is the most important one. At the beginning, Kang Seo Joon hears a crash and has a panic attack as a result (been there my dude, it sucks). There is silence before the crash that leads into the panic attack and there’s silence at the start of the panic attack as well. Then we begin hearing a repetitive, dissonant note during the attack, but it’s backed by calming music that grows louder as Han Ji Woo cares for Kang Seo Joon. This worked almost a little too well for me. I don’t like being reminded of my own panic attacks like that, ya know? But it does a good job of using music to convey what Kang Seo Joon is feeling. We see the panic attack and we can hear it. It’s jarring.

The biggest surprise to me about the soundtrack was realizing that Kang Seo Joon and Han Ji Woo have different genres. Some shows do this and do it really well. A more recent example that I really loved was Never Let Me Go. Both boys had their own distinct genre that had to reconcile with each other when those two were together. That’s probably the one of the easiest shows to watch and pick up on the distinct music for each character. It’s far, far more subtle in TMS, but it’s there.

During the show, Han Ji Woo is a jazzy boy. It’s a smooth jazz, which fits Han Ji Woo’s character very well. He’s soft and subtle and his life should be formulaic and set in routine, but nothing has gone as expected. His routine has been thrown off. He still has his calm, almost stoic exterior, but inside he’s facing turmoil. Kang Seo Joon has come into his life and brought something new and unexpected. He’s facing feelings he wasn’t aware he could still feel and he’s willing to do things he didn’t realize he’s willing to do. Once his turmoil is settled though, he reverts back to what I believe his true genre is: classical. Han Ji Woo is a piano concerto. He’s soft and beautiful and strong. He can get loud and stand up for himself when needed and he can become muted when he’s feeling a little lost. Han Ji Woo settles into his new routine with Kang Seo Joon and he’s no longer a jazzy boy. He’s back to himself as a classical boy. The inner turmoil and struggle Han Ji Woo has felt is made so abundantly clear in this line:

At this moment in the show, Han Ji Woo’s jazz was slowly being taken over by Kang Seo Joon’s music. He was already scared because his genre was off but now even not-his-genre is being overtaken by Kang Seo Joon.

Kang Seo Joon has been consistently coming into Han Ji Woo’s life and overtaking his music. Kang Seo Joon is pop music. He is fun and upbeat. He is the music that so many people in the world listen to. I mean, it’s called pop music for a reason! At first it makes sense that Kang Seo Joon should have the more formulaic music. He seems shallow on the surface, but as always, that’s not the case as he has hidden depth and struggles. A lot of the pop songs that play are in English which was surprising, but they could be a hint at Kang Seo Joon being more than he seems. He’s not just the cookie-cutter celebrity that everyone, including Han Ji Woo, sees him as. He has hopes and fears and he has experienced his fair share of pain. And when he meets and starts falling for Han Ji Woo? Their music starts to blend.

When Han Ji Woo reaches for Kang Seo Joon’s face, about to take an eyelash off, but stops and walks away, leaving them both feeling like something has shifted in that moment, their music combines. It’s both poppy and jazzy. This is the moment that they both start to become aware that there are feelings floating around. 

By the end of the show, Han Ji Woo has embraced his jazziness because he realizes that his life isn’t going to go to routine now that he’s with Kang Seo Joon. When he’s alone, classical music follows him. But when he’s with Kang Seo Joon, he’s back to jazz. And in the very last scene, when those two are in bed and begin making out, the music is pop music but with a little jazz element thrown in. They’ve found their harmony and their balance as their two genres are able to meet to become one.

Here are some other things I noticed but they didn’t make it into the post itself:

-When Han Ji Woo is running to Kang Seo Joon at the end, it’s a pop song playing

-The music in the restaurant is smooth jazz

Anyways you're absolutely cooking, imagine they stay late after practice one day (Tora wanted to get a couple more spikes in, Fukunaga stayed to set cause Kenma was out the door as soon as possible) and while cleaning up Tora manages to get himself tangled in the net or something. Fukunaga completely loses his shit, like hunched over tears-rolling-down-his-face kinda laughing. And at first Tora thinks he's the one going insane cause he's barely seen this guy speak, much less laugh so hard he starts wheezing (I imagine this takes place in their first year) and he's just like "huh, i'm just gonna ignore how this makes me feel." He never tells anyone cause even though he'd never admit it it's a special moment for him.

ILY FP 207 and 208

I had meant to cover these episodes individually, but between the winter storm during the Christmas period and then going out of town to visit my parents, I have not had the time to get to either, and we’re rapidly approaching ep 209, so I figured it’s high time I get this out there! 

Honestly, these episodes have been so fun! As you guys already know, I enjoy the heavier episodes a lot, too - I’m a sucker for all the background information they feed us, I thrive in the little moments of angstiness, and I’m a fan of slow-moving character-driven story, but I really appreciate the tempo that’s going on with these episodes. If you’re someone who has been holding off on fast-passing because you didn’t know if the pay off would be good right now, I can assure you that these episodes are really shining! We’re getting a good balance of the comedy present earlier in the series as well as character relationship balances and details. I’m so excited about them, so let’s get to it! 

Where do I even begin? These episodes have been delivering us a lot to dig into, haven’t they? I think we’re seeing some repetitious themes and symbiology, too, starting with Nol and Shinae’s interrupted dance. There is something so sweet and warming about Shinae offering to replicate a moment Nol can no longer relive, trying to give him one moment of happiness. We know - and now so does she - that Nol has been living in unhappiness and darkness for so long. We’ve witnessed moments where he was willing to let it all go and let the dark claim him, but here he is. The fact that for that moment, he’s willing to reach out and accept Shinae’s offer is such a big deal, I think, because of his personal believe that he does not deserve little pleasures and shouldn’t seek it out.

And of course, life is not kind to Nol.

Or, rather, as the running theme goes, Kousuke has a way of getting in the way of what Nol wants and seeks out for himself. This is a continuous theme - every time Nol has found himself enjoying a moment, there is Kousuke. Every time Nol has wanted something for himself, there was Kousuke to stand in the way, manipulate a situation out of his hands. Though I still maintain that Nol would have made the decision on his own, it was still Kousuke who came between Nol and Shinae and pushed him to cease their friendship. Kousuke has a nasty tendency to always interrupt Nol when he dares to defy what he thinks is his dark fate. 

Actually, that isn’t the only theme. 

In general, we’ve seen Nol and Shinae trying to reach one and other across chasms a number of times - usually in the form of Nol reaching out to Shinae and denying himself an opportunity or else Shinae chasing after him. Nol reaching out to Shinae continued even into the recent episodes when they were talking in Minhyuk’s room and he reached out to her. I don’t know if this is meant to be a metaphor for Nol not able to accept that he wants to hold on to her or not - and if that is the case, what does it mean that this time he reached out but was denied the opportunity by someone else? On the one hand, I want to think that Nol’s willingness to open up and talk to Shinae, to tell her things he’d never dared say before - means he is embracing her friendship, but he has the opportunity to ghost out and disappear, so I’m not sure if I’m just being hopeful or not. 

At any rate, that brings us to the other theme. Do you guys remember that Very Infamous illustration of Kousuke, Shinae, and Nol lying on the floor, and all the many ways it’s been interpreted (and how romance is so often the basis). My current interpretation remains the same as it has for over a year now - that it represents dynamics and the way Shinae is involved with each brother, bridging a gap between them. That dynamic remains ever present: that Kousuke is the one often “distracting” Shinae from Nol. This isn’t limited just to trying to steal her attention, either - it’s the way Kousuke tries to manipulate their relationship from the outside, the way he tries to father her and eclipse things, it’s the way we see him always the one to interrupt and come between them. Kousuke also truly believes Nol is dangerous and that Shinae needs to keep her distance to keep herself safe. But we see - just like in the illustration - that Shinae is someone who is able to bring Nol comfort and help him find his peace. Though it could just be that he is planning to peace out anyway, we see Nol speaking much more freely with Shinae than he ever has before, which just ties back into that illustration. He’s far from achieving peace and being at ease, but that dynamic is ever present, isn’t it? 

So in the way that Shinae reaches out to Nol and his opportunity to accept her offer (of friendship, to be a team, to grant a moment of solace and relive a happier time) is once again denied, we see Kousuke reach out to Shinae to help her up. While I don’t think this is significant in any shipping dynamics kind of way, I do think it’s interesting that this is another time we’ve seen Kousuke reach out to Shinae, and juxtaposed against Nol, it does stand out. But again, I think it’s something more about the way that Kousuke is the one who always pushes after Shinae, that she rarely reaches out to him (and when she has, it back fired). Again, I think there’s something about the dynamics here, about the way Kousuke intervenes and the way his interactions with Shinae are so often instigated by himself. It’s something I’d like to revisit in time, I think. 

Whew, that’s a lot already! This is why I meant to do these as separate posts! 

These two episodes are also just riddled with Kousuke and Nol interactions - from downright childish bickering to Nol trying to open up about his hurt. Something we’ve always known but see really reiterated in these episodes is the way that Nol and Kousuke really bring out each others baser sides, an almost primitive, childish way of fighting. They quite literally bring out the worst in each other. Kousuke continues to rewrite the narrative to align with his own beliefs and ideas and Nol is not good at ignoring the bait and his hot headed reactionary side gets the best of him. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I understand why they are at each others’ throats, but like I said, they just really bring out the worst in each other, their ugliest sides. Nol trying to make a dig at Kousuke about how unlike Kousuke, HE at least craves contact but Shinae is so quick to call him out on the way he was trying to ghost everyone. In fact, when Nol says that bit, his eyes are closed - because he was doing the very thing he’s trying to use against Kousuke. 

Kousuke, too, is just as incendiary as Nol, not that he’d ever admit it, and half the time Nol doesn’t even need to push his buttons. Actually, I think these two episodes do a good job of showing Kousuke’s low emotional IQ and how incendiary he really is. It doesn’t take much to fire him up, and he’s so rude, too? I think that’s what really took me by surprise - I honestly thought surely Kousuke wouldn’t be the one to interrupt the dance because Kousuke thinks himself such a gentleman, such a pinnacle of etiquette and personality. Ironic, isn’t it, that he was the one to reject Shinae’s application citing that she’s too reactionary, hot headed, and he thought she wouldn’t be able to control her temper and handle customers, but he’s the asshole in someone else’s home insulting peoples’ singing, calling the house smelly, insinuating it’s gross, barging into other peoples’ rooms, blaming others for what he’s doing, grousing about their clothing, etc. etc. The list literally goes on and on. The whole of the story, Kousuke has tried to maintain that he’s a mature, well-mannered adult, but he’s spent this entire night acting like an asshole baby. That this comes on the coattails of his breakdown about the call with Rand does not miss me. In fact, it really stood out to me that Kousuke still insists that he’s getting into trouble even though Rand made it painfully clear that he’s not mad - but that doesn’t fit Kousuke’s narrative so he’s rewritten even that! 

Speaking of the way Nol and Kousuke devolve into their more childish sides - their bickering brings out a lot that gets REALLY glossed over and I think is worth examining. For instance, after Shinae calls Nol out on his ghosting, he retorts “Disappearing without saying goodbye is in my blood” which on its own is already intriguing and curious. Who else has done the disappearing - and what kind? I’ve already mused that maybe Nessa didn’t have a good relationship with Nana when Nol was young, since he didn’t seem to recognize her (or at least, because he thought it was plausible that someone could be paying her to play that role), but it’s just as possible that he met her when he was too young to remember. But still, that means they weren’t in touch at all until she came to live with Nol. Did Nessa pack up with her child and leave the country without saying goodbye to Nana? Does it have something to do with Rand leaving? Or is it about Nessa herself? 

“Maybe your mother wouldn’t have left you behind!” is such a nasty, low, low blow coming from Kousuke - ESPECIALLY because of his insistence that it’s because Nol wasn’t “good and obedient”, because he was “selfish”. Actually, no matter the situation, it’s the lowest of blows and Kousuke shows no repentance for what he said. He truly believes that people must be obedient and follow orders (and we see this when he describes Shinae as “malleable” yuck) and he BLAMES Nol for losing his mom because he’s not obedient enough? Because he’s selfish? (The irony that Kousuke seems to think the world revolves around him does NOT miss me.) 

The question obviously is: what does Kousuke mean? “Left you behind” is ambiguous enough. Did she leave? How could it be possible for her to leave and be untraceable - you think the Hiraharas don’t have access and connectsions to track a person down? How could Rand locate Nana, but Nessa is nowhere to be found? Nol and Nana speak in a way that makes it sound like Nessa is dead - so we’ve assumed all along that’s her fate. But someone dying isn’t “leaving people behind” - unless they do it of their own hand. If Nessa did kill herself, though, isn’t it an even lower blow for Kousuke to say that? He says he isn’t sure what happened to her - which means if she did commit suicide, the circumstances might be murky enough to not be sure what happened. I’ve also seen it contemplated that maybe something happened and Yui had Nessa locked away, but I’m not sure yet how possible that one is. I guess the whole thing just remains ???? because suppose she did die - whether or not by her own hand, there’d be a funeral. If she just disappeared, did no one try to find her? If she was locked away, I think Yui would be able to hide the evidence, but it also just seems almost too makjang. I’m not sure yet what I think! 

Kousuke’s obsession with obedience, though, brings me back to their argument. Nol tells Kousuke that he doesn’t think for himself, that he’d respect him a lot more if he had a backbone, which lead to Kousuke’s low blow. It’s not anything new to us, but I just think it really highlights the major difference in Nol and Kousuke. Kousuke was, from a young age, molded to emulate and take after Rand, to try to earn his affection via obedience and being a good little boy who tries to make him proud - despite Rand wanting Kousuke to follow his own dreams and to be his own person. Time after time, Kousuke was convinced that the only way to earn his father’s (apparently conditional) love is to do what he’s told and to try to become him. For Kousuke, love IS conditional. If you don’t earn it, you don’t get it. In his eyes, Nol didn’t earn his mother’s love and he was, in some way, abandoned. We already know his obsession with obedience runs so deep that he can’t handle being told otherwise - like Rand trying to convince him that he DOESN’T want him to babysit Nol he DOESN’T want him to be at his beck and call - but the way he equates it with familiar love is really problematic. He goes on to describe Shinae as malleable, which is so weird and uncomfortable and far, far from a compliment - except in Kousuke’s eyes, it’s what people should be. Again, ironic given that Kousuke yields to no one and refuses to adapt to anyone or anything else, despite expecting it from others. 

I’ve tried to show a lot of patience for Kousuke, because I understand he is a product of his environment and his neglect and lack of healthy parental relationships - or any relationships period - combined with Yui’s manipulation and molding left him no room to grow in a healthy way. He is perpetually stunted emotionally and frankly, even maturely, as evidenced by the way he acts in someone else’s house and bickers with Nol at every opportunity. He rewrites the narrative whenever possible, he’s constantly deflecting and shifting blame even when people are around to prove otherwise. But it’s hard to be patient when he’s acting this way, when he’s pointedly antagonizing Nol only to turn around to act like he’s never done anything. I’m not saying Nol is blameless, either - he’s no more able to ignore Kousuke than Kousuke can ignore him - but there’s a stark difference in Kousuke’s reality from actual reality. Something that really gets me is that Shinae is much younger than Kousuke but was able to reach the conclusion that her side of a story is not the full, absolute truth, that she is the protagonist of only her own life, might be the antagonist of someone else’s (Alyssa’s). She’s able to understand that what is true for her is not the total sum. But Kousuke can’t! Not only can he not accept blame, but in the same breath he goads Nol on, he insists he’s innocent. How can you crack a jab about “Are you going to break down and cry?” to someone who has literally been having a breakdown the ENTIRE duration of this story? For YEARS in their lives. 

That’s what kills me. Nol is finally opening up a little - perhaps not in the best way, but at least he’s doing it. While clearly what they need is many, many therapy sessions that Minhyuk cannot helm, at least Nol is trying to make Kousuke see what he refuses to. “Did you ever stop to think why I’d prefer to go by that name?” Kousuke lives in such a black and white world that he cannot (or maybe just he refuses?) to see that there are more ways to hurt a person than physically. It’s such a tense moment, too - Nol points out that Kousuke always assumes, he never even ASKS, he just makes up his own version and sticks to it. How could he have been the reason Nol resents his name, if he never hurt him? And that’s the crux of it, isn’t it? It’s not just that Kousuke rewrites narratives, it’s not simply his deflection - it’s the way he views hurt and abuse. Maybe if he acknowledged the many ways to hurt a person, he might have to acknowledge the ways HE’S been hurt that didn’t involve physical forms. Given that it’s Kousuke, he probably insists that it’s still not his fault - that if Nol wasn’t so weak or something, he wouldn’t be hurt by the way Kousuke treated him, that he was just trying to mold him into a more obedient, malleable person because apparently that is the only thing anyone should be. That just earlier he’d made a crack about “breaking down and cry”ing makes it seem all the more likely. 

And that’s the thing. At the end of the day, unless anything changes, this is who they are, this is what the relationship is. In the VERY SAME BREATH that he uses to insist he couldn’t possibly have done anything to Nol, he goes on to tell him he wanted nothing to do with him, likens him to an unwanted pest, says he did nothing to him. He did nothing, he made him feel like nothing. And while Kousuke as a child is given more leeway for not being able to handle his feelings and resentment over Nol’s existence (Rand’s affair/his betrayal/his hurt/the paranoia he was molded to carry like the heaviest baggage), adult Kousuke never changed. He doubled down on it, found every opportunity to dig at him, to hurt him in whatever way he could without ever laying a finger on him. He asks what did he do when just minutes ago he implied Nol’s mother left him behind for not being a good little boy! It’s just frustrating. It’s frustrating and vexing and it also hurts, as a reader, to see Nol bare this part of himself while he’s curled up, hunched over in a ball making himself as small as possible, hiding his face. There’s something so vulnerable in the face he makes when he looks up at Kousuke again - in the previous panels the shades fall sharp on his face, making him look almost scary, but he looks at Kousuke with no shadows, just something open. “Why?” Why, after you took everything, after you made him feel so small, like he was nothing, why did you also take his name? 

Nol is taking the opportunity to bring this up, and Kousuke still won’t accept it. Refuses to examine himself or his behavior. I mean, I can’t say I’m surprised. It’s not like he’d blink and go oh my god you’re right, I’ve been so mean. But also, I’m at the point where I don’t know what it will take to ever make peace between them. When Kousuke is so deep in denial, when he’s rewritten everything to fit his perfect story, when he deflects all responsibility, when he always pins everything back on Nol: what will ever make him face reality and face the truth? I know in life there are people who will always find a way to be a victim - and usually those people lose their friends and get exiled from others who finally catch on and grow weary of their games. But Kousuke isn’t so motivated by others - as long as he has his career and fortune, what does it matter what other people think about him? As long as he has his name, he wields respect. As long as he keeps playing his role, people will continue to hold him on a pedestal high above them. None of that matters. He put Shinae in etiquette courses without ever consulting her or trying to assist her, and he shows up to a party she and her friends are throwing, insulting everyone, acting like a spoiled baby brat. Just what, days ago? he was trying to earn her trust, trying to literally buy her trust with a plushie, insisting that she doesn’t know herself well enough, that she’d be a fool to pass up the opportunity she has to go to a foreign country all alone - and now he’s here in front of her and her friends and family, acting like this. This is the peak of who and what Kousuke is - so much of his refined personality is just as much an act as Yeonggi was. The only difference is that Nol at least acknowledges that and Kousuke will insist that everyone knows differently. 

It’s not all bad, though! We finally get to see Minhyuk meeting everyone and it is so much more than I could have ever hoped for. I love how he sees this situation and decides to take charge in the only way he knows how to - like a team captain lmao. I know there are people who think it’s weird that he’s butting in like this, but I think if Shinae had an issue, she would have said so already - in fact, I think she is happy he’s doing this. She’s right that the brothers can’t be in the same room as each other without fighting and though Minhyuk probably won’t be able to mend any of those burnt bridges, he’s still going to try to make peace because it’s his party and he’ll try if he wants to, damnit! 

I always thought Minhyuk and Nol meeting would not go over well - especially after the way Nol left things with Shinae. In fact, everything Minhyuk says to them is deserved. Kousuke is rude and hostile and when Minhyuk first shows up, Nol is also fighting like a child. There’s no good impressions to be seen here. But what I love about Minhyuk is that you can tell how much he and Shinae have rubbed off on each other, and the way he addresses everyone is so funny to me. He has no fear in the face of Kousuke wearing his mother’s clothes. How can you take him seriously when he’s throwing a hissy fit the way he is? And because Shine thinks and spoke so highly of Nol, he has a lot to prove, because there isn’t much of the boy she described to find here right now. It’s not that Shinae described a fake personality, either - while there were aspects of Yeonggi that were a front put on by Nol, Yeonggi is so believable because it still comes from him, because that’s still a part of him. But Nol is so enshrouded in anger and hurt that it’s hard to show that part of him, yet. I think Minhyuk may get a glimpse whenever Nol has his turn at the compliments. 

It’s such a funny choice for Minhyuk, to make everyone go around and say nice things about each other, but there’s also something wholesome about it - for the most part. I love how Dieter was so thoughtful about his responses - and getting to finally learn the moment that he fell for Shinae, when he started to see in her the good person she tried so hard to lock away. As one of the more observant characters of the series, Dieter being able to find in Shinae something she was too afraid to share is really sweet. I love the way he and Shinae both got so embarrassed when he looked at her, too. They’re sweet and cute and I love how fluffy things are with them, because that’s not something we get a lot from this series. The face she made as he talked about that moment, the way she and Minhyuk bickered about the “mushy talk” lol it’s just cute and fluffy! That said, it makes you think a little, what he said to Nol. That he’d be so good humored on even a rainy day. On the one hand - was that ever Nol, or just the act he put on for people? But deeper than that, he put on that act FOR people, to make THEM happy, to bring some kind of comfort and solace to them. Even if the disposition was faked, it was still a thing he did for Dieter, and it was clearly appreciated. But Dieter doesn’t really know much about Nol - the real Nol, why he entered their lives, why he was determined to leave them - and that’s also really sad. I hope he’ll get that opportunity. 

Minhyuk is so funny though lmao I am SO glad we get to see him playing off everyone else like this. He’s such a fun character and the way he plays off - and against - Shinae brings so much boisterous energy out. “Very fashion” lmaoooo. and Shinae copying him! “You. Strong. Like bear” PLEASE 

Actually, Shinae’s ability to singlehandedly disarm everyone without trying is SO funny. Poor Dieter probably nearly DIED as she called his hands sexy! Her discomfort is palpable, but absolutely enjoyable on my end. It’s also really funny to me that she associates both Nol and Kousuke with scents. In fact, Nol smelling like a bar of soap is such a running theme, now - she was able to smell Nol on his coat when Kousuke was wearing it at the formal even though she was drugged/inebriated; that moment when they shared earbuds at the Wacdonalds, and again now. Idk if there’s anything more to read into it - I guess if you try hard enough, you can. It’s just so funny to me that “something I admire about these people” and she’s blurting out how they smell lmaooooo. 

I’m so curious what Kousuke will manage to say about Nol - if he’s able to, if he can find even ONE little thing to say. After all, what he said for Minhyuk was pretty much a copout, and what he had to say for Shinae was... weird. It’s SO CLOSE to being a compliment, except it hinges entirely on her being “malleable” which is not a really positive word to use to describe someone. I think it says a lot about the way Kousuke sees her and what he expects from her. She is, to him, everything Nol has failed to be. He expects she will eventually be obedient, that he’ll be able to mold her into the ideal employee or something. If he wanted to speak of her adaptability, why not just say that? Call her adaptable. But adaptability is not the same as malleable, and the choice in wording is so uncomfortable. 

But more than what Kousuke will say, of course, I’m curious about what Nol will say. Unlike Kousuke, I don’t think handing out compliments is necessarily difficult for him, and we know that Shinae and Dieter are important people to him. I think it’s probably easier for him to talk about what he admires about them, because they were the people whose fake friendships became real, who started to matter. And frankly, I think he’ll be able to find something good in Minhyuk, because that’s Shinae’s best friend and she wouldn’t be close to someone who wasn’t good. I think Nol is better at telling the truth - especially being disarming. Dieter isn’t even fully up to speed on things, so I think Nol telling him something honest might even throw him off for a moment. I ALSO think, despite everything, Nol might find it easier to say something about Kousuke than the other way around. Probably.... 

These episodes are jampacked with little relationship dynamics: Nol and Kousuke; Shinae and Dieter; Shinae and Minhyuk. And Shinae and Nol. It’s so funny, how in the beginning of the story it was Nol watching and reading Shinae like a book, and now the tables have reversed and she’s the one. I mean, I guess it’s not different than how she became the one to chase, but it’s just satisfying to see those little ticks. It’s not difficult to read Nol’s body language. Not only is he trying to make himself small, bunched up in a ball and hiding his face, but gripping his hands so tightly with all of that pent up anger, that rage and hurt - but Shinae being able to just snap him out of it feels big. Just like at the beginning of 207 where Nol was about to accept her offer to dance, I think Shinae is, or is becoming, some kind of conduit of comfort for Nol. We’ve seen a number of times throughout the series where she’s affected him, left a lingering impression, and now that they are opening up to each other more, we’re seeing even more of it. Because of what she now knows - via Kousuke and Nol both - I think she finally has a better understanding of parts of Nol she found confusing before, and in that same way, she’s beginning to read him better. Like I said, his body language is pretty clear, but what matters more is not that she could see all that fury bunched up but that she was able to reach out and quell it, to interrupt that. We know that Nol is more hot-headed, and that kind of all consuming rage blows up, blinds you. It makes it so you can’t see or think clearly, makes it so easy to say or do something you’ll regret - and she snapped him out of that, coached him into relaxing just a little. 

They just. GOD! They continue to grow in a way that I can’t help but love. Shinae’s ability to get through to him, her relentless efforts to bridge their gap and hold on to their relationship, the unspoken understanding they now share between them. Both Shinae and Nol are scarred, wounded people. Like Nol does now, Shinae used to hide all those vulnerabilities. She tucked all her hurt and anger away, sealed it up and told herself it doesn’t matter anymore. But when she was beating on that bear suit, she felt it - tasted that kind of raw, furious hurt. Shinae understand that part of Nol, and we continue to see that she represents some place of comfort, a type of reprieve for him, should he choose to allow himself that. In a way, I think this ties back to the running theme of Nol reaching out to Shinae - time and time again, he denies himself what he wants, because he believes himself so undeserving. He believes himself such a monster that he isn’t allowed to crave the comfort of a friend, of unconditional compassion, of someone seeing his whole, raw self. Surely, once they see deep into his heart, once they learn his sins, they’ll cast him away. 

I just continue to really love their interactions and the way their dynamic has shifted. It’s not that Shinae was never such a caring person - we’ve seen it throughout her entire life. She’s got a very compassionate heart - it’s just that she hid it away to protect it. Shinae has defended people all along but Nol helped bring that to the forefront. And now she turns it on him. Now he is the one who needs comfort and a listening ear. And there we go, back to that illustration - the earbuds that Nol and Shinae share, the comfort and peace that she can offer him because Shinae is that conduit of comfort, because Shinae is the one who will listen, that he can open himself up to. 

I know it will be a long time before we get to see these dynamics play more - the night will eventually end, Nol will eventually go away, and we don’t know what will come of their relationship during those months. But man I look forward to getting to see Nol open up more. I look forward to getting to see that trust grow - and GOD please, I look forward to him finally getting to enjoy a reprieve from it all, to have even a MOMENT of unadulterated happiness and bliss because my god he needs it. I am DYING to see him just finally do what he WANTS for once, instead of denying himself it. I want to see him enjoy a moment of happiness, maybe a comforting memory, maybe something entirely new, where he doesn’t beat himself up or deny himself or refuse it. 

Nol and Shinae remain SUCH a good team - their relationship is so dynamic but the core of it remains the same. At the end of the day, they are helping each other, and I’m dying for more of that!

ffffffluff. had brain worms early in the morning after sleeping for couple of hours like shit so i wrote down an idea to return to later. so here we are. there really isnt much else to this, they are just cute and im in a terrible brain rot of having to have them smooch so trying to better myself by writing them smooching lol. the only way to improve or whatever i did not really proofread or edit this beyond a spell check, sorry about that. i cant focus but i want this up as i promised cutes so goddamn cutes is what we are gonna get!

Leaning back on his chair Kip sighed, spinning the empty energy drink can in his hands. The session had gone on much longer than he anticipated and they were still going strong, although the games were getting pretty intense. He was honestly getting pretty beat, but the boys insisted on keeping on going as this was one of the rare times they had time to game with the whole gang together, so even Kip wasn’t allowed to dip out at a moment like this.

“Okay, just… Gimme a few, I’ll be right back for the next one,” Kip motioned towards the camera with the empty can before pulling off his headphones, standing up from his chair. He could see the stream chat moving, most people telling him to take a short breather – last round had been really intense, they had been so close to victory it had gotten almost everyone’s skin as they had lost it at the very last moment.

Exiting the office, Kip walked into the kitchen, stopping by the fridge to observe his choice of energy drinks. He was running low, he would have to restock the next time they headed out for groceries. Picking two cans in his hands, just in case tonight was going to go long, Kip headed back to the hallway, stopping by the living room doorway as he heard sounds coming from inside the room.

Peeking in, he spotted a familiar blond sitting on the couch, fiddling around on his phone while playing something that looked surprisingly quite familiar on the television screen. It didn’t take Kip two glances to recognize his own stream layout, making him chuckle out loud as he walked into the room, making Cassidy jump a little as he shot a look towards Kip over the back of the couch.

“My own little supporter,” Kip hummed as he leaned over the back of the couch, pressing a little kiss into Cassidy’s hair. The blond just shrugged him off, eyes returning to his phone. “You play terribly, by the way.”

“I love you too, Clementine.” Kip rolled his eyes at him, but his words carried enough sincerity for Cassidy to believe him. Before Kip walked back out though, he glanced the man over once more, slightly squinting at him.

“…Are you wearing my hoodie?”

Cassidy barely shrugged, eyes still glued on his phone. “Maybe.”

Walking around the couch to stand in front of him, Kip lowered the drink cans from his hands to the coffee table, arms crossing over his chest. “Maybe? That’s definitely my hoodie.”

With an almost overly dramatic sigh Cassidy lowered the phone from his hands, leaning a bit forward as he finally looked straight up at Kip, tilting his head at him for an even more dramatic effect. “Yeah? Well maybe if someone wasn’t too busy gaming and maybe if someone didn’t make their boyfriend watch and listen to them only through a Twitch stream all day, that said boyfriend didn’t have to wear their clothes to not be cold.”

“Oh, it’s my fault now, is it?”

“Yeah,” Cassidy shrugged again, slowly backing away from the defensive position he had been mere seconds ago just now, as he relaxed a little bit more on the couch again. “It sure is.”

Kip leaned down and closer to him, eyes narrowing even more as he was trying to call Cassidy’s bluff on his statement. “Really? My fault?”

“If you weren’t so busy all the time I wouldn’t need to do this.”

Kip could almost see the teasing smirk tucking in the corners of Cassidy’s lips, the blond clearly knowing he was getting under his skin. Kip wasn’t going to let him have this win though, hands grabbing him by the shoulders as he pushed Cassidy back against the couch, easily placing himself down on his lap to pin him down underneath him.

“My fault?” he asked once more, almost as a clarification, watching Cassidy just lazily nod his head, but the faint shade of blush on his cheek was something he couldn’t hide from Kip. “Yeah, you--”

Kip didn’t let him finish as he leaned closer, taking the rest of the words out of his mouth with a kiss. This was obviously what Cassidy had wanted since the beginning, they were aware of that, but that didn’t mean Kip was going to let him off easy. As Cassidy’s arms wrapped around his waist to pull him closer, Kip’s hands crept under the hoodie, fingertips tracing his toned midsection through the canvas of the t-shirt over it, getting what he wanted out of it as he could hear a small moan escape from Cassidy.

With a satisfied smirk Kip pulled away instead of following up with a deeper kiss, leaving Cassidy just staring back at him. Kip tapped his fingers under the hoodie against his abs, humming quietly to himself as he scanned Cassidy’s face, the range of emotions from expecting to almost humorously disappointed flashing across it in a matter of seconds, clearly upset that he didn’t get the kiss he wanted out of this interaction.

“You really think you were gonna get more than that?”

It was Cassidy’s turn to narrow his eyes at him, but Kip just continued to smile a little, clearly satisfied with his handiwork. “Bold of you to assume I was going to reward you for all of this.”

He leaned closer, easily dodging an attempt for another kiss from Cassidy as Kip pressed a quick peck on his cheek instead before reaching his ear. “But… I could see what I can do if you take it off,” he whispered, a clear smile in his voice as his hands wrapped around Cassidy, his body pressing against his as his hands tucked the back of the hoodie a little bit from the inside.

There was a slight bit of clear hesitation from Cassidy’s side at the proposal, Kip being fairly sure that it wasn’t the offer itself but the fact that they were so entwined with one another right there, clearly in a comfortable position just being held in each other's arms. Kip knew where he wanted to take this though, taking the initiative as he traced a small set of kisses from Cassidy’s cheek back to his lips, stopping just short of them to the corner of his mouth though, just leaving him to take the last step in case he was craving for some more.

Kip had to admit though, as whiny as he was about it, he didn’t mind Cassidy wearing his hoodie, actually. It was definitely more of an opportunity for him to get him in this position than anything else, and quite frankly he found Cassidy wearing his clothes rather endearing. Not that he was going to say it out loud, and Kip was definitely happy with the direction all this was going, but he was absolutely being more dramatic about it than he needed to be. Then again, so was Cassidy, clearly, since they had gotten themselves in this position.

Cassidy wiggled under him slightly, making Kip back away a bit as he watched the blond struggle to remove the hoodie with the little space he had. Kip chuckled at him, hands reaching over his head gently, carefully pulling the hoodie by the neck to help him take it off.

As soon as Cassidy was free of the hoodie and the garment left Kip’s hands to be dropped to the couch next to them, Cassidy’s hands tangled up in the brightly colored hair of the Brit, pulling him into the passionate kiss that he was craving, that he had been made to wait for the last few absolutely excruciating moments that Kip had tried to deny from him.

hi umm so I really love your gifs and i was wondering how you make them so good?? no pressure tho

ahh i'm so flattered you like my gifs but i'm ngl! i've only been making gifs for like, a month and a half now? so i will try my best to answer your question with my limited experience 🙇‍♀️

there are 3 main programs i use which are 4k video downloader, vapoursynth, and photoshop -- 4k to download yt videos in the best quality, vs to preprocess the video (crop, resize, denoise, and sharpen) and photoshop for recoloring and other edits! ik other people may use different programs like avisynth instead of vapoursynth for their preprocessing, and topaz for sharpening/cleaning but these are the ones i use! in addition you may be able to find ultra hd videos on other sites without going through 4k downloader but yeah this is the one i use specifically for yt. i've found that these programs have really helped improve the quality of my gifs in terms of smoothness and clarity

these are the tutorials i used when i first started learning and they explain how to use those programs in greater depth:

(also i would exercise caution in regards to any download links you come across in these tutorials!!)

but yeah there are loads of other resources online that go in depth about where to find hd videos, how to use photoshop, etc and the gifmaking community is p friendly so don't hesitate to reach out!! when i first started making gifs (which wasn't even on photoshop LOL) i went through a lot of trial and error and tbh i still haven't really found my style yet! but i kept trying to experiment with different programs and techniques and the process itself became fun and i felt a big sense of accomplishment just learning to do the little things :^)
