In the first chapter we agreed that the mountain was not ruled by heaven nor earth,so I subconsciously thought SWK was going to have to *pay for bringing new ideas to the mountain and for not being grateful for what he had* but no, it WAS necessary for him to learn how to fight

OKAY heres the piece breakdown;

The colours in the heart is meant to be how Dirk wholeheartedly (heheh) is fuelled by his love for his friends and family, and the flowing hope bird stuff is their overwhelming belief in him (jakes is highlighted ofc tho hope player and all see brain ghost dirk for jake being dirks anchor of hope in himself).

He kneels proclaiming his loyalty invoking that of someone being knighted; appointed duty. but also because the weight of that responsibility he placed upon himself is alot to bear

The red symbolises alot; the need for acts of violence to advance the narrative, time/the alpha timeline, evil (condy, lord english) and his love for dave all at once because it holds all of those meanings in Homestuck itself too.

The blue and green are the past earth Dirk studied so hard, what he shaped himself around, the one he revisited the destruction of over and over. But also Jane and Jake as theyre his only references of that time he can interact with. Jakes green sits on the deepest inside of Dirks heart surrounded by hope bc again, Jake is Dirks anchor of hope

The pink is roxy (inside the red, the timeline, but disconnected to the past earth) and callie is the grey (inside the black, the void) and the pink branches off to guide calliopes grey instead of letting it aimlessly be lost in the void, then the hand shows calliopes Hope in dirk as a hero but also a person. Her views of all her friends and her seeing all of their potential is rlly crucial to each of them.

Something i really dont see much when people make art about dirks self sacrifices is that IT IS ALWAYS FOR HIS FRIENDS AND FAMILY. He doesnt Just do it because he hates himself, theres always some greater need to assist the ones he loves, and he is so ready and willing to put himself up first as tribute to serve the narrative to aid all of them at his own expense. He is the hero but the evil at the same time in his mind.

So his acts of self sacrifice are staged alongside Hal, who he almost killed; who symbolises everything dirk is trying to run away from and hide about himself using his pursuit of heroism (why he hates hal and paints him as villainous sm is bc of what hal reflects about dirks true self)

The cut up strings that remain taught in place are meant to show that he simultaneously doesnt want to adhere to the narratives expectations (in order to truly be himself hed have to drop it all like dave did) but in his mind he HAS to adhere and play hero otherwise they would all perish. (See ult dirks whole mentality surrounding keeping the narrative going lmfao)

I made this piece because of a song from the Mother Album for the first mother/earthbound game. The lyrics are very simple but are about the Flying Man characters; (the person who made them changes between 1 and 2 but well go with 2 bc it fits better with homestuck)

In Earthbound they are a set of 5 bird creatures who reside within Magicant; a physical projection of Ness’s (your) brain (with pink and yellow colour schemes hm. Heart and hope hm. Existing within ones mind as symbols of masculine courage Hm. Brain ghost dirk scratching my head) Who when approached will offer to join your party and fight by your side (you can only take one at a time though. They will say

“I am your courage.” (Something something how all of dirks friends look up to him and use him as reference for their sense of courage and heroism)

And are the only allies who cannot be revived. Once dead they will have a headstone with sentimental inscriptions for the first two but then become increasingly apathetic to the last one because you used them as expendable npcs and didnt treat them with care. Their deaths are on your careless hands

Their trust in you and willingness to jump into battle and fight for you made me wonder if they inspired dirk alongside the bird motifs and the specificity of MAN thing.

They are simple creatures who live and die serving you, the player, because you chose them, and they love you. And thats what the song is about;

They havent known much for their existences but in meeting you they find purpose, they fight for, LIVE FOR your love and wellbeing to their self sacrificial deaths as its what they learnt would make them good and THATS SO DIRK STRIDER. It made me think about him alot (dave does this too but i think dirks emulation of daves natural knightly behaviour being at odds with his prince class is super interesting)

Basically the main theme of this piece is that Dirk is a character fuelled by love. Love for others so strong he will do anything it possibly takes, and how taxing that is on his personhood and it comes off as this ridiculous over the top Theatrical level display in the end.

I recently just found your art (im loving and drowning in all of it)

Wanted to ask have you ever thought about the seal in which demise was kept in durring SS. I been replaying it and kind of thinking about, well, if Hylia created the seal, she made that sealscape/spiritprison(?) a very peaceful environment. Calming clear skys reflected in still waters. This only changes once the battle w Demise starts (makes me think the space is just very reflective/responsive of prisoners mind/emotions)

Anyhow! If Hylia was the one to make the seal what do you think she had in mind, how she was feeling ? W ur ship art of them in mind, I kinda get mercy vibes despite what she'd eventually have to do to him, but not wanting to put him through anymore pain? A sad goodbye moment. A sort of final resting place, maybe this space was an origin point of their first encounter w one another and its a recreationof it? Id love to see your ideas/character feels interpretations. Also sorry if this was asked or talked about previously im v new here ;v;

that is a very interesting thought, and not far actually from my plan for “destiny”, im really glad people seem to enjoy my art, even when its shippy or not fanart at all :D tho i am not sure how to answer this since, well, its a bit difficult, even knowing how everything in the story will go, i cant decide really. is it an intentionally “nice” place for a prison ? is in reality much more of a torture having to be there all alone ? was he even conscious in it ? was his very being scattered into a thousand pieces within it ? was he even able to feel any pain ? or was he in constant pain trying to recollect himself ? how does one know what happens to someone that gets sealed ? it always seems like whenever someone is sealed, they come back more ful of anger and hatred ? in what kind of hell does one get send when they get sealed away ? it might seem silly thinking so much about a game and its lore but i cant help it, i always wonder what must have happened to make the villains a villain ? people arent born evil ... and i just cant accept the answer of someone just “being” evil without an explanation ?? well im writing a story about that. in some part at least, i know its taking me a long time but this fancomic has taken me a lot of thought and work already even if you haven seen much of it yet, i will both explore the relationship between hylia demise and others, but a big part will be demises origin, i really hope you guys are going to like it sinceim very invested into everything SO i am not sure how much you know so ill talk a bit about the end of “destiny”, so SPOILERS FOR DESTINY AHEAD: i had made a post about demises origin/backstory a while back, crudely summarized bc i just typed it out to remember it properly, im not sure if you have seen it but it shouldnt be too far back somewhere on my blog if you want to take a look, tho things will still change, its base will stay the same, im leaving out pretty the whole story, so maybe, i hope, you will still be interested in reading it once i get it all drawn out, or maybe not, im not the one to decide that .. ANYWAY at the end of it, hylia will be ordered one last time to finally do her duty and seal demise away, she will try to talk to her gods that there is another way to solve everything, but they will not listen. hylia then refuses to do as she was ordered, even tho demise had warned her not to do that and that she instead should just go and kill him; if hes dead he at least wont have to get to know whatever happens to someone that gets sealed, hed much prefer never finding out; but she is too determined to give up the thought of another possibillity and thus the gods have to take things into their own hands and take control over her, forcing her to watch as her body acts on their will and not hers anymore. there will be a brief moment where demise gets to free her of them, since in that last fight hes much less fighting for his own survival, which he knows is impossible, but for hylia not to die from being in the gods control for too long. besides, he very much wants to fight the gods themselves, but he wants to do that with only him involved and them, and not someone else; thus he regains his previous, pure form from back when he was just like her, only for a short moment tho and in the end he will be sealed away by the gods acting through hylia. while she dies after the deed is done, hes sealed away yes, but although shattered, not quite dead yet, and his hatred towards the gods will burn much stronger now than it ever had before, not just because of what they did to him and his world but to her now as well.

WELL THEN that was alot and probably not even a glimpse as interesting as i hope it will be in the finished comic, with all the context in all regards.  i apologize for the length of this, and this possibly unwated and uninteresting spoiler part about this damn story that i cant get out of my head anymore. (also for .. the typos .. im writing this at 1am and it took me like an hour bc i just didnt know how to write it out) sorry, i just care alot about this.... too much probablyヾ(*′○`)ﾟ.+:｡ﾟ☆

“Honey I’m home!” Jessica yelled as she walked in the condo, a few minutes past 3 am.

She’d been drinking since that afternoon and had misplaced her iPhone, somewhere along the way. Therefore, she had no clue that Bill had been blowing up her phone all night. She tripped over some shoes in the hallway and ate shit. It wasn’t too bad of a fall, but any type of fall, when you’re an adult is rough. Lucky for her, she was wasted, so everything was just hilarious.

Bill got up and walked out of his room, to find Jessica, lying on the ground laughing hysterically. He hadn’t been able to sleep anyway and had been laying there, rehearsing what he was going to say to her when she got home, but now he was just happy she was back safe.

He went to help her up, but instead of getting up, she pulled him down on top of her.

“Dammit! Where have you been? I’ve been calling you all night! I was worried, sick!” Bill spat at her.

“Billy Willy I might have drunk too much and lost my phone when the sun was still up. So there’s that. And then I was a drinking safari with Angel because she liberated herself from her evil boyfriend, the Dreamkiller. Terrifying guy. No fun at all.” Jessica hiccuped. “Excuse my hiccups, but I love you.” She grabbed bill’s face and pulled him into a deep kiss, interrupted here and there with a hiccup.

Bill was rigid at first, but he really loved Jessica’s drunk ass and couldn’t really be mad, she couldn't answer the phone, if she didn’t even have it.

He pulled away and met her eyes, “you could of at least called and let me know you’re ok.”

“Will do Billy Willy. 10-4 over and out.”

“I’m serious. I love you, and I worry. I know what a drunken jackass you can be, and I’m not saying you can’t go out and get smashed with your friends. I wish you would bring me along so that I can take care of you,” Bill said as he peppered her face with kisses.

“A-ok. Scouts honor,” Jessica tried to salute, but just poked herself in the eye somehow. “Ouch!”

Bill tenderly kissed her eye. “Can I carry you to bed?”

“Only if you’re naked,” Jessica said with a mischievous grin.

Bill had only been wearing boxers, so he quickly was nude and hoisted Jessica up into a bridal hold, carrying her to their room.

“Ninety-nine bottles of beer on the wall, ninety-nine bottles of beer!” Jessica sang out.

“You are THE MOST obnoxious drunk girl that ever lived,” Bill said, rolling his eyes.

“Bitch! I am serenading you, and you call me names? Shame on you! Shame your cow! Shame your whole family!” Jessica giggled, but when she looked at Bill, he looked utterly lost. “Don’t tell me that you never saw Mulan!”

The beautiful Swede looked just as lost as he shrugged his shoulders.

“Put me down. I must go to my secret movie stash!” She said, kicking her legs.

He set her down, and she ran out of the bedroom to get her movie while Bill brushed his teeth. He turned to see her walking in the room carrying a tape box. He spat and asked, “is that really a VHS?”

“Yes. I have all my old Disney movies. I’m not a heathen. I can’t believe you never saw this classic. And you call yourself an artist. Bah!”

Bill beamed at Jessica as she talked to the DVD VCR combo trying to make it work with sloppy drunk impatience. She shooshed him and pressed her ear to the machine, with the cutest little concentration face, Bill had ever seen.

“What are you doing, Jess?”

“I’m making sure, it’s not eating it.... I think we are good.”

She stood up, quickly shedding all her clothes, and bounded over to the bed before diving on it, bouncing around giggling.

Bill loved how silly and free-spirited she could be. He had been like that once, but after playing a few very dark, disturbing roles, he found it more and more difficult to let go, and act a fool.

He’d met Jessica after an event she had decorated, when his then-girlfriend, had gotten jealous and abandon him there. Bill was rather intoxicated, and his phone was dead, so he had no way to call a ride, and didn’t particularly care. He sat down to smoke when he heard a yelp. He quickly got up and ran towards the direction of the sound, imagining several terrible scenarios, he could be running into. What he found was a breathtakingly beautiful woman, clinging to a ladder that had fallen over against the wall, about to crash down at any moment. He hurried over and righted the ladder, holding it so she could climb down.

Jessica turned to thank her hero, and when she looked into his eyes, her eyes went wide, and she laughed.

”What?” Bill asked self consciously.

“Shut the fuck up! Bill Skarsgård did not just save me! Oh my God, I just told Bill Skarsgård to shut the fuck up! I’m so sorry, my bad. I should be internalizing all this, but I’m an asshole.” She hid her face in her hands, shaking her head.

“No worries. What were you doing on that ladder?” He asked.

Jessica explained she was tearing down the party now and was working. She owned a company that made any theme, or vision you had, a reality. Want a flapper fundraiser? Jess would come in with feather boas hanging from giant white balloons, that lit up. Champagne bottles turned upside down, spraying balloon bubbles, in a cascade. Make amazing centerpieces and turn a plain ballroom, into a scene out of the Great Gatsby...

Bill found her very easy to talk to and followed her around holding the ladder as she told him about all the different parties she’d done and hilarious anecdotes of her adventures.

“I’m just talking away and although I’m not complaining, why is a movie star helping me?” Jessica asked him, biting her lip nervously.

“Well, for one you’re a lot of fun to talk to. Also, I’m learning a lot about event planning, which I imagine is useful, but my phone is dead, and my date abandon me,” he said, making a pouty face.

Jessica couldn't believe anyone would abandon this sweet, beautiful man, but she knew the bitch he was dating, so it wasn't a complete shock. She knew all about him.

You see, although Jessica was hiding it well if Bill knew her better, he knows she talked a lot when she was nervous. She was worried because she was 1000% a Bill stan and even had a Tumblr dedicated to him. ”You can use my Uber account or google a cab. Or you probably only like limos huh? You can also rent a car, and they'll pick you up, or I can give you a ride in my awesome ass van, but that'll be quite some time since I have to get all the decor down. I don't have to clean or anything. Just get my shit and go.”

”you wouldn't mind?”

Jessica nearly fell over. Her mind raced as she thought about driving with Bill in her work van. It was taking all her power, not to fangirl the fuck out, but he was surprisingly easy going and seemed like he just wanted to be a normal person. ”No! You can help me carry stuff so there are fewer trips and we leave sooner.”

Bill didn't want to leave sooner, but he nodded, and they went around collecting everything, laughing and chatting. When it was time to go, Bill panicked at the thought of never seeing her again but reminded himself he had a girlfriend. He climbed in the van and told her the hotel he was staying at while she turned on her Spotify.

”Okay, so I have a girlfriend.” he blurted out.

”Not a very nice one, but to each his own I suppose. Don't worry tho Bill; I wasn't planning on taking advantage of you.” she quipped.

Bill blushed and asked, ”well can you text me your number, in case I ever need to decorate an event or need to laugh?”

She could not believe Bill motherfucking Skarsgard was asking for her number. She handed him her phone, to text himself and tried to focus on not swooning so hard, she crashed the van.

Soon she dropped him off at his hotel, and it wasn't until he was safely inside she screamed.

when it comes to not ppl but places/items... hes particular about his weapons and armor but can be generous about everything else. he gets ascetic about that sort of stuff – but if he believes something belongs to ATOM then there will be hell to pay if that is breached lol

he believes things can be seen, that there are visions and spirits. but he tends to be skeptical, surprisingly. hed tend to not believe local legends of a place being haunted and to wonder if someone was seeing things if they claimed to have witnessed something. its like he generally does yes, but in specific situations hes more often skeptical than not

he tends to not rudely discredit ppl tho - unless their ‘spirit’ is saying things that dont mix with coa beliefs. then hed likely voice opposition

Good evening, everyone~! This week’s Thursday Book Club is officially beginning! Today we are discussing Four Corners by Boniae~! (http://fourcorners.smackjeeves.com/)

Remember that Thursday discussions are completely freeform! However, every 30 minutes I will drop in OPTIONAL discussion questions in case you’d like a bit of a prompt. QUESTION 1. What is your favorite scene in the comic so far and why?

one of my favorite scenes is actually when hideki and kazuhiro have their little confessions. i really loved the silence, pacing, and paneling in that moment. the time it took to depict it and the fact that the images were allowed to speak for themselves made it a really great moment with fantastic atmosphere.

another scene that i quite enjoyed was when we first see ranmaru. i felt like itd been quite a while since there was a good fight, so it was good to see. but i also like the story effects the scene had. since this was really the moment hideki stopped toeing the line and was ready to admit he was in it for something more. and i think this sort of fighting parallel worked well with having such a pivotal character development

less of a scene, but in general i liked that whole chapter where hideki and kazuhiro spend time together. it was nice to see them bond over not work and learn a ton more about hideki. i think as a whole it was a needed chapter because it helped bring the characters closer together to create a stronger dynamic for what i imagine will be many troubles ahead

QUESTION 2. Though some things have been revealed over the course of the comic, Hideki still remains quite the mystery. In what way do you think Hideki was involved with Four Corners in the past? Was he some sort of consultant, a member by association, or something else? Do you think Hideki really left gang life just to avoid violence, or do you think there is something more to it? What do you think he did that gave birth to the dark rumors surrounding him? Further, what is Hideki’s relationship with the man he keeps hallucinating on seeing? What exactly happened that seemed to cause Hideki such worry and trauma? Does it have something to do with why Hideki is so knowledgeable about gang activity? Lastly, do you think his current involvement will have negative consequences for his future, especially in regards to taking over for his father?

i do think hideki had a run in with the yakuza in some way. cause itd make sense then why hed know how to watch gangs or something. and itd explain why hideki's cousin was super extra worried at the path hideki was starting down again

Maybe Hideki is rebelling a bit about the fact that his future is laid out for him? Could explain some of the worry about him, as well as his investigative skills.

QUESTION 3. Besides Hideki and Kazuhiro, we also see several scenes with the villainous Arakawa who seems to be immensely involved with what’s happening to the gangs. What do you think Arakawa’s aim is? Is it a solo goal, or does it have something to do with the yakuza? For what reason do you think Arakawa hides under an assumed identity? Is it related to his goals, or is there a different reason for it? Do you think Arakawa is still even part of the yakuza in full? For what reason do you think Arakawa tolerates Ranmaru, and how might Arakawa’s plans change to deal with him? Finally, Arakawa mentions fortune-telling and how knowing what’s going to happen beforehand is a viable strategy. What do you think this might mean for what’s going on in the story, and do you think Hideki and Kazuhiro will be able to handle it?

The Arakawa fortune telling thing is an interesting angle. I wonder if he can do readings on people without their knowledge. I also wonder if he just tries to make things come true that he sees, like a self-fulfiling prophecy.

oh thats a good line of thought. id never consider that arakawa meant he didnt actually tell the future. he meant that he just makes the future happen to suit his vision

maybe hideki was arakawa's apprentice and arakawa was trying to teach hideki all about fortune reading but hideki was like "fortune telling isnt profitable" and bailed

im gonna go the simple route with theories and say arakawa's goal is simply to eliminate competition. cause he wants to push the drugs but cant do so easily when gangs are around protecting territories. so hes just making it easy for himself

That makes some sense, except why knock the gangs out rather than simply cutting a deal with them or something?

QUESTION 4. Compared to the present, Kazuhiro’s time before the Four Corners seems drastically different. Do you think their walk-out father is the only reason Kazuhiro and Keiichi had a strained relationship? Or was there something else going on between them? Why do you think Keiichi started the Four Corners, and why do you think Keiichi kept up with it in the face of his family’s disapproval? Why do you think Kazuhiro was so compelled to take over the Four Corners, especially considering the drastic change in personality and style he underwent? Do you think Kazuhiro will be able to uphold Keiichi’s ideals and save the Four Corners at the end of the day? Also, do you think he’ll repair some of his relationship with his sisters, or will his pursuits continue to cause a rift? Lastly, do you think Keiichi died of natural causes, or was his death caused by sinister means?

As to why Keiichi started it up, maybe a bunch of them wanted to clean up the four corners of the neighbourhood, and decided a gang would be the best way.

maybe keiichi just thought if he tidied the neighborhood their dad would come home

although maybe keiichi felt he didnt belong to his own family. so he started the four corners to create that sense of family and fill the gap

The sister relationship angle is also interesting, I liked that it was brought up back in chapter 2, to help put the family in perspective. Might be interesting if that one unapproving sister met Lei... um, the cousin character, not on the character page... they have some things in common.

Maybe. Lots of Dad issues on the part of both main characters, for different reasons.

So yeah, as to whether Kazuhiro will save the Four Corners, I think obviously he'll die a tragic death saving Hideki, who goes off to become a monk. It paves the way for the sequel involving sister Kiyomi taking over the Four Corners next.

just me rambling about chris kent and the DCEU, also spoilers for the last son arc i guess even tho its old (look i recently just read it too maybe another dceu supes fan hasnt yet, also i recommend it)

im thinking of how chris kent could fit into the dceu, ok zod and faora (since ursa dont exist lmao) made a heretical contingency(if jor n lara can i assume they can too👀, gettin busy) just in case the distress beacon from the earth ship was a dud, and so she was already pregnant during MoS (which the invasion happened in a day or two i think) but gave birth to him in the phantom zone, and since the phantom zone is in another dimension 10 years or whatever age chris was in the comics can have passed there while less has passed in the real world.

they can do some science babble about how since chris was conceived outside of the phantom zone but born inside it he starts like idk kind of phasing in and out as he grows older maybe, that weird german kryptonian scientist was sucked in too at the end of MoS so he could explain it, maybe also that soon his body would completely phase out but wouldnt survive arriving in real world without a protective metal shell so they make a kind of mini rocket to go with him out of the spare parts of the ship they are in

now there are 2 questions for faora tho, cuz really kryptonian army was done in MoS so i dont wanna use that plot for this adaptation like it was in the last son arc, so faora could either be abusive like in the comic towards chris which would make sense (seeing as even if he was a contingency by zod and faora to keep the race alive, shed probably like zod still see him as an abomination) or since ykno zacks built the first 2 films on love of mothers that it “changed” her and thats why she made them make chris a rocket, if still evil then the rocket probably has a timer bomb mechanism that’ll help open a portal outta the phantom zone or smth.

like i said i dont wanna use invading kryptonian army again, so really faora and them are all a b-plot, for the actual villain i’d wonder who to go for but hmm a lot of me is saying the eradicator, idk yet how hed get there but like his job was always to preserve kryptonian culture and natural births are against that in krypton(i kno this si somewhat stealing from jons story with the eradicator from rebirth but :V), maybe he was also trapped in the phantom zone but gets out because he followed chris and since there are 2 natural births now on earth he’ll attack em both.

other stuff id like to happen:

take out all that sexist stuff about how kal and lois shouldnt be together cuz she would never give him a natural born son lmao, that was annoying in the comic.

Lois exploring motherhood and maybe more journalism in the plot hmmmmm

eradicators history would be cool to explore, bonus points if their creation was helped by the house of EL, making clark have to confront that part of his families past haha

but mostly eradicator isnt super complex i think since mostly i want the movie to focus on clark lois and chris being family, even give chris more time to get more of a personality (i love last son but he didnt really get much until near the end)

donner was paralleling chris to clark in the way they arrived on earth and i think the fact they’re both natural births would drive even more parallels

ok here we go, chris doesnt mcfuckin disappear at the end lmao they get to keep their baby boy! though if we are going with still evil and abusive faora and the ship is about to tear a hole into the phantom zone, this is when chris does the thing like in the comics but he tries to sacrifice himself and carry the rocket out of orbit n blow it up so his mom and the other kryptonians cant invade, then he thinks hes gonna die but supes saves him this time ok let them be a family!
