#won't just go away. there's still a lot of potential for that knowledge to do harm in the wrong hands. i don't think they'd risk that.

Essay question, sort of? Mostly just curious about your thoughts on it; Was the destruction of the alien knowledge given to Eiffel ultimately better for humanity? I think about it a lot,,
short answer? i think so, yes. probably. in terms of the process - fourteen thousand years is an incomprehensible length of time from a human perspective. even if you wanted to set a plan in motion to secure the future of humanity... how? and should anyone be the arbiter of humanity's fate? cutter and pryce certainly wanted to be. maybe the point is that, whether it would be "better" to know or not, no one should ever have the power to make that choice.
(of course, there's also the question of the dear listeners being the arbiters of humanity's fate, but they operate on a completely different level of understanding - what they represent is a force beyond human control or comprehension, a shadow cast by an impossibly Big Picture, and that can't be reasoned with from the same perspective.)
in terms of the knowledge itself... some if it is practical, like the ability to create duplicates - obviously, that could be very, very dangerous in the wrong hands, and it puts a massive target on eiffel's back. the rest of it... would people even believe him? most of it isn't really something you can prove. "astronauts return from the dead; claim to have made first contact - are we being observed?!" ... it's tabloid material. most people would just go on with their lives, i think.
... but i also think this ties into another question. in the context of wolf 359, is there a categorical difference between memory, knowledge, and information? i think i might elaborate on that in a separate post, so that this isn't way too long, but... i'm not entirely convinced that knowledge is destroyed? the information recall the dear listeners put in eiffel's mind functions, in my understanding, kind of like hera's servers - it's information he has access to, but not necessarily something he's learned, or processed through memory in the same way. and the dear listeners seemed very adamant about not allowing them to return to earth without a debriefing. i doubt that "killing" bob, a being that doesn't have a concept of death, in a form they didn't even truly inhabit, would've been enough to disrupt that. i assume they were satisfied with what the hephaestus crew was taking back, and that is... a whole other can of worms.

You hardly knew your father. You knew his name was Pete Mitchell, that he was a naval aviator, and that your mum insisted you inherited a large chunk of your personality from Maverick but that was the extent of your knowledge. You’ve seen pictures of him, and your mum told you about times he visited when you were a baby, but you held no concrete memories of your own of the man. Because of your lack of connection to him, you didn’t really consider Maverick your father. He stopped visiting when you were a baby, so you didn’t really care to acknowledge his relation to you. Your mum, while understanding your feelings and not wanting to force anything upon you, did try to encourage you to get into contact with Maverick if you could to try and form some sort of bond with him.
Then your mother got sick. You spent a lot of time outside of school caring for her and working your part-time job to keep you and your mum afloat when she had to stop working because her health was declining so rapidly. It was tough for you to try and keep things going and your mum tried to push for you to get into contact with your father, so you’d have someone to go to if she didn’t win the battle against her illness, but you always rebutted, insisting that she’d be fine.
You watched as your mother had to be admitted to the hospital for round-the-clock care. You always visited her after school or work and spent as much time with her as you could, constantly asking the nurses and doctors for updates and hoping by some miracle she’d recover.
But she never did.
Your mum passed away after three months of battling with an illness you could never understand, leaving you alone in the world. You soon ended up in contact with social services as your mother had contacted them prior to her death without you knowing and told them that she wished for you to move in with your dad as opposed to going into foster care. You were still hesitant about the whole thing. You barely knew him; you’d be uprooting your entire life to move to Miramar.
While you had to go home, pack bags and prep things for your mother’s funeral, Maverick received a knock on his door early one Saturday morning.
“Hello, are you Captain Pete Mitchell?” The woman on the other side of the door says, a kind smile on her face as she speaks. Maverick was taken aback by this woman being on the other side of the door, he would’ve put money on it being Bradley on the other side of the door over some random woman.
“I am. Can I help you?” Maverick asks, confused as to how she knows who he is and what she’s doing at his house.
“You have a daughter, y/n l/n, correct?” The woman then asks, eyes flicking down to the file in her hand while Maverick’s expression shifts from one of confusion to one of worry.
“Is she okay?” Is the first thing that comes out of Maverick’s mouth as he thinks of all the things that could possibly have happened to you.
“Her mother, Catherine, passed away a couple of days ago and before she passed, she made it known to us that she wanted y/n to be in your care since she has no other relatives.” The woman explains and Maverick feels his heart sink to his stomach at the woman’s words. His relationship with your mother may have been short, but he never stopped caring for her. Hearing she had passed hit him hard.
“She wanted me to take y/n in?” Maverick asks quietly, searching for confirmation as the woman nods slightly.
“She did. We’re going to help you and y/n with the process and check in occasionally after she’s moved in to make sure everything is okay with the two of you.” The woman says as she hands a card over with her name and number on it. Maverick inspects the card, learning that her name is Holly Fieldman before looking back up at her.
“When is she coming? I know she lives a couple of states away.” Maverick asks as he pushes the card into his jean pocket, watching as Holly silently asks to be let in and he obliges, stepping aside and letting her enter his house, leading her to the living room and sitting down opposite her.
“y/n wants to hold her mother’s funeral before she comes to Miramar.” Holly starts, flicking through the file and double-checking all the information she received from her colleague.
“That makes sense.” Maverick says slowly, wishing he could be there to help you with the funeral, but he was aware he could potentially overstep if he tried to get involved.
“My colleague said the funeral should be taking place within the next couple of days so I will contact you when we have a date set for y/n to come here.” Holly says as she glances up at Maverick who nods slightly in acknowledgement to her words.
“That’s okay, that gives me time to sort things out here.” Maverick agrees as Holly gets to her feet, Maverick quickly mirroring her actions and leading her to the front door and bidding her goodbye. Once he closes the door, Maverick turns around and rests his back against the door, staring into his house before muttering.
“Good thing I have the spare room clear.”
A few days later, after the funeral, you were all packed up and waiting at the airport for your flight to San Diego. Your leg bounced nervously as you stared at the sign above the gate door displaying the location you were flying to. Everyone around you seemed perfectly relaxed and ready for the flight ahead while you were thinking of everything that could go wrong. By the time you boarded the plane and found your seat, you could’ve laughed at yourself for how nervous you were. You were the daughter of a top naval aviator and here you were panicking about flying in a commercial plane which you were sure was much safer than doing whatever it was your father did for work. You were sure you looked crazy with the way you were gripping the armrests when the plane took off into the air, eyes scrunching shut as your stomach lurched at the foreign feeling.
Thankfully, the flight went smoothly, and no one made any comments about your very obvious nervousness. When you were allowed to disembark the plane, you followed the sea of people to luggage claim as you gripped the straps of your rucksack to try and direct your nerves somewhere. Once you grabbed your suitcase off the conveyor belt, you followed the large signs that led to the arrivals terminal where you soon located a smartly dressed woman holding a sign with your name on, so you approached her sheepishly.
“Hello, y/n. I’m Holly, we spoke on the phone the other day.” The woman says, introducing herself straight away and holding out a hand for you to shake which you do, nodding at her words and quietly thanking her when she offers to take your suitcase for you.
“Are you taking me straight to his house?” You ask as you stop outside Holly’s car, waiting as she loads your suitcase into the boot of her car before she turns back to face you.
“We’re going to have you meet your dad in a café first, a nice neutral setting for the both of you and I’ll be there to help ease you guys into everything.” Holly says, her bright smile never wavering when she speaks as she rounds the car and gets in the driver’s seat, with you getting in the passenger seat.
You tried to distract yourself by taking in the views of what was going to be your new home, but you couldn’t stop the pounding of your heart. You hated that you were so nervous. He had never been there for you growing up. He wasn’t a dad to you. So why were you so nervous?
When Holly parked outside a small café that was nestled along Miramar’s beachfront, your nerves were now in full drive and when she moved to open her door, you remained seated.
“Is it too late to ask if I can get a flight back?” You ask, glancing over at Holly who settles back in the car seat to address you.
“It is, sweetie. Look, I understand that you’re nervous. But everything is going to be just fine. I promise you.” Holly says softly, her smile softening as she addresses you and for a moment, you believe her words. You get out of the car, close the door behind you and follow Holly into the café.
As soon as you enter the small building, your eyes are immediately surveying the people that are in the café, searching for whichever one is Pete Mitchell. Then you saw a man stand up, eyes studying you as he looked at you and Holly and you soon noticed Holly moving to approach him. He matched the man in the sparse photos you had of your father so that along with Holly greeting him with the same bright smile she had used on you made you figure that he had to be Pete Mitchell and as you slunk along to meet him, you took a deep breath and made sure to not show your emotions. You already had a feeling he more than likely didn’t want to take you in, he just had to because your mum insisted on it. You just wanted to be prepared for the worst.
“y/n… wow you’ve really grown up.” Is the first thing Maverick can bring himself to say as you stand opposite him.
“Yeah… that’s what happens over time.” You say dismissively, shrugging your shoulders half-heartedly and your gaze flicks away to the table Maverick is sitting at so you could avoid looking at him.
“Why don’t we take a seat?” Holly suggests, not letting the mood deter her as she grabs the back of one of the chairs and pulls it towards her to make room for her to sit down at the table with you and Maverick following her actions. You sit opposite Maverick awkwardly, neither of you knowing how to start a conversation with the other.
“So, y/n, how was the flight?” Holly starts, attempting to initiate a conversation.
“It was okay.” You say half-heartedly, barely glancing at either person sitting at the table with you.
“Was it a busy flight?” Maverick then asks, trying to get a bit more information out of you.
“This was my first time on a plane I don’t know what constitutes ‘busy’, but most of the seats were filled I guess.” Your words came out a little harsher than you intended but you weren’t all that fussed about the way your words came out.
“Well you made it here safely and that’s all that matters.” Maverick then says, a small smile on his face to try and make you feel more comfortable around him. Instead, all he got back was a small shrug and you avoiding his gaze. He knew it must be a hard adjustment for you, especially when you haven’t had contact with Maverick in years but all he wanted was for you to feel comfortable and supported and he was going to do his absolute best to do that for you.
The rest of the interaction that was overseen by Holly went about as well as you expected it to. The atmosphere was awkward and there was a slight tension from you. By the time Maverick was allowed to take you home, Holly pulled both of you aside separately and told you that you could call her whenever and that she’d do a home visit in the next few days to see how things were progressing and left the two of you alone outside the café after handing you your luggage.
“Let’s get you settled in at home.” Maverick says after a minute or two of awkward silence between the two of you, gesturing with his head for you to follow him which you do so slowly, not in any rush to get to this new house. You load up your luggage, ignoring Maverick’s attempts to help you before getting in the backseat of the car, sitting behind the driver’s seat so Maverick couldn’t see you as easily.
“You can sit up front with me for the journey home, you know?” Maverick offers, turning around to glance at you sitting in the back of the car.
“I prefer sitting in the back.” You answer simply, already moving to put your headphones on you can just ignore everything on the journey to where you’d be living from now on. You hated that Maverick was calling it ‘home’. It may be home to him. But it could never be a home to you. Maverick watched sadly as you put your headphones in and adjusted the way you were sat so you were fully angled towards the window before he turned to face the front and began the drive to his house.
When he finally pulled into the driveway of the house, you weren’t shocked by what greeted you. It was an average-sized house in a small neighbourhood. Before Maverick even had time to turn around and talk to you, you were instantly climbing out of the car and heading to the boot of the car to pull your suitcase out, leaving Maverick alone in the car as he let out a small sigh before getting out of the car himself and crossing to the front door of his house to unlock the door and enter the house with you following behind.
As you enter the house, you follow Maverick when he leads you upstairs, opening a door and taking a step back for you to enter which you do. You glance around the room, it is practically bare, with white walls, and nothing more than a bed, wardrobe, and bedside tables.
“I’m sorry it’s so plain. I never really used this room. But you can decorate it however you want. I have a few days booked off work, so maybe we could get some things and decorate your room.” Maverick says, not daring to move an inch beyond the doorway as he watches you place your rucksack on the bed and take in the room. As Maverick had expected, you offered him no more than a mere shrug and noncommittal hum at his suggestion. Maverick was really trying to form some sort of bond with you. To try to make up for the years lost. But you clearly wanted nothing to do with him, and as much as it broke his heart, he couldn’t do any more than extend the olive branch and hope you one day take it. He didn’t want to overstep beyond that, so he nodded at your hum and headed downstairs.
You spent the rest of the day unpacking your belongings, hanging clothes up and storing things away before you finally placed the picture of you and your mum on your bedside table, so you always had her with you. As you tucked your suitcase under your bed, you heard Maverick calling you for dinner and as much as you didn’t want to go downstairs, the smell of food that was travelling up the stairs and into your room was making your stomach growl like nobodies business so you got up and went down the stairs, following the sounds of plates clanking to lead you to the kitchen but as you walked through the living room, your eyes drifted along the photos on the wall and you stopped opposite one particular photo. It was a photo of Maverick with a moustached man, both of them smiling for the camera with an arm wrapped around the other’s shoulders. You regarded the photo quietly, wondering who this man was. Did Maverick have another kid? As if he sensed you looking at the photos, Maverick emerged from the kitchen and approached you carefully.
“Having a look at the pictures?” He muses softly, a slight laugh tagged onto the end of his sentence to let you know he wasn’t upset or angry at you.
“Is he your son?” You ask, your gaze not moving from the picture of the two men.
“No. Not biologically at least. Bradley’s my best friend’s kid. But I helped raise him so he’s kind of like a son to me.” Maverick explains and you can’t help but feel a pang in your heart at his words. This Bradley guy got to have Maverick in his life as a father figure and you didn’t get your dad at all. It wasn’t fair.
“Come on, let’s eat.” Maverick urges softly, noticing the sadness in your eyes and hoping he didn’t just ruin everything between the two of you. You begrudgingly follow Maverick to the small table and eat your food in silence, barely giving Maverick more than a short sentence answer to any of his questions. The second you finished your meal you asked to be excused and retreated back to your room, leaving Maverick alone downstairs. He didn’t bother you for the rest of the night, only sticking his head in your room before he went to bed. Despite everything, he couldn’t stop the small smile that appeared on his face when he saw you curled under your duvet, fast asleep.
“Goodnight, y/n/n.”
Over the days Maverick had off, you tended to avoid as much interaction with him as possible. You’d have meals with him and hold the briefest of conversations but that was your limit. And you never called him dad. You didn’t want to get attached to someone who didn’t want you when you were a baby and was now stuck with you. When Holly came for one of her home visits, you tried to ask if you could be placed elsewhere but she was insistent that you see it through with Maverick. She urged you to give him a chance, and that she could tell he was genuinely trying to form a connection. She could understand that you were upset with the loss of your mother and having to move in with someone who was hardly present in your life, but your mum had picked him for a reason, and you needed to trust her judgement.
After Holly left, you spent the rest of the day in your room mulling over her words. You knew your mum had never steered you wrong before. But sending you to live with someone you hardly knew just felt wrong to you. When night fell, your thoughts were getting too much you decided you needed to head out to get some fresh air and to think some more. You didn’t have a destination in mind, you still hardly knew the area, you just knew you needed to be out of the house. You were able to sneak downstairs and out of the house with zero difficulty, Maverick was napping on the sofa so keeping quiet and getting out of the door was no difficult task for you. Once you made it to the end of the road, you pulled out your phone and searched for directions to the beach.
About five minutes after you left, Maverick’s eyes blinked open and he stretched his arms above his head as he stood from the sofa, wincing as his back let out a slight crack. He knew he needed to stop falling asleep on the sofa, but he couldn’t help it. Deciding it was time to finally retire to bed, he headed upstairs, heading straight to your door. Since you arrived, he always stuck his head in your room to whisper goodnight to you, despite the fact you were always asleep when he did it. This time, however, when Maverick opened the door, he couldn’t see any figure in the bed. The little slither of light that snuck through the crack didn’t illuminate any evidence that you were in bed and Maverick couldn’t help but instantly be in panic mode. He couldn’t find any evidence that you were still in the house, so he was soon grabbing his keys and leaving the house to search for you.
You sat on a little bench overlooking the beach, not too far from where the café you first met Maverick was, listening to the gentle sounds of the waves against the shore, your eyes drifting up to the starry sky and bright moon that hung within it.
“Mum, you wanted me to come here for a reason, right? You think Pete would take care of me and that I’d finally have a father figure, don’t you?” You mutter quietly up to the sky, wondering if your mum would give you some sort of sign that she was listening. Instead, you heard the revving of a motorbike engine and Maverick’s worried voice calling out to you.
“y/n, oh thank god I found you.” Maverick says, relief beyond evident in his tone as he sits down next to you on the bench, leaving a gap between the two of you.
“How did you know I was here?” You ask quietly, briefly glancing over at Maverick before your gaze flicked back to the stars.
“I didn’t. I just drove around looking for you. But I did know you haven’t explored the area much, so my best guess was near the café. I wouldn’t have stopped looking for you all night if I hadn’t found you here.” Maverick explains, watching you under the dim street lamp as your eyebrows furrow slightly and you turn to look at him properly.
“Really?” You ask, your voice timid as you look at Maverick.
“Really. I’d never forgive myself if something happened to you. I promised your mother I’d look after you.” Maverick explains, watching as your eyes widen at his words.
“You promised… did you talk with my mum before she died?” You then ask, tears threatening to build in your eyes. In response to your question, Maverick pulls his wallet out of his pocket and produces a small picture, handing it over to you and you instantly study the picture. It was of you; it couldn’t have been taken more than six months ago. It was of you out in the park, sitting on a bench and completely oblivious to your mum taking a picture of you.
“She liked to send me regular updates on how you were doing, as well as pictures. She told me you get pretty good grades in your classes, which makes me proud. The last time I spoke to her must’ve been just before or around the time she got sick because I never heard from her after that. But she made me promise to look after you if something happened years ago. I didn't think anything would ever happen. But I never stopped caring for you.” Maverick explains as you quietly hand back the photo, the tears in your eyes beginning to show under the street lights.
“If you cared so much, why did you stop visiting?” Unlike Maverick would’ve expected, your voice held no harshness to its tone, just defeat. You were just a kid who’s been deprived of a father figure your whole life.
“My job is dangerous. And I know what it feels like to lose your parents when you’re young. I just couldn’t put you through that, so I thought it was best I stayed away to protect you. It hurt so much to say goodbye knowing I probably wasn’t going to see you again.” Maverick says truthfully, fighting back tears of his own as he looks at the picture, knowing he was the reason you grew up without a father figure in your life. He couldn’t help but beat himself up over it every day. He had stepped in for Bradley when Goose died but the second, he had a kid of his own, he backed off and abandoned you.
“Did your mum ever try to move on?” Maverick then asks quietly, a sad tone you’re not used to hearing from him in his voice, as you watch him.
“No she didn’t. Truthfully, I don’t think she stopped loving you. She always spoke so highly of you.” You admit, shrugging lightly as you remember all the times your mum had told you about Maverick and never spoke a bad word about him. At your words, a tear or two escaped Maverick’s eyes and he let out a shuddering breath.
“I don’t deserve that. She deserved to be happy.” Maverick says, more tears escaping him as you wipe at your own eyes.
“She was happy. The time she had with you was clearly all she wanted and needed.” You say, not wanting Maverick to feel guilty or upset for something out of his control, a complete turnaround from the way you had been acting prior.
“I’m going to make it up to you. I promise. If you need me at all, I will be there. You’re not alone anymore.” Maverick promises, and you nod at his words, finally believing his words before you move closer to him and carefully wrap your arms around him for a hug. At first, he was tense, but soon he reciprocated the hug, holding you tight as you tried your best not to cry on his jacket.
“Can we go home now?” You ask as a small breeze blows by, making you shiver slightly, even in Maverick’s warm embrace.
“Of course, sweetheart. Let’s go home.” He says softly, helping you to your feet and leading you to his motorbike where he instructs you on how to hold on safely before taking you back home, making sure he goes a bit slower than he usually does when on his bike. When you make it home, you’re stifling yawns as you trudge upstairs to get ready for bed and by the time you finally crawl into bed, your eyes are already closing but you force them open when you hear Maverick quietly asking if he could enter your room. For the first time since you arrived, Maverick crosses to your bedside and smiles down at you.
“Goodnight, y/n.” He says quietly, leaning down and pressing a small kiss on the top of your head, smiling as a smile covers your own face while you snuggle further into your bed. Just as Maverick reaches the door, he hears you speak up.
“Goodnight, dad.”
Maverick swore that the large smile that appeared on his face didn’t shrink until the next day. Until you called him ‘dad’ again the next morning.

“   So, what... what happened to your sister?   ”
“   I just like to blow things up.   ”
“   All right, who's not dead? Sound off.   ”

“   Oh, there is so much to ask about your world.   ”
“   You are a scholar, are you not?   ”
“   I got a few questions for you, too. So let's do this, OK? You ask one, then I'll ask one, then you, then me, then...well, you get it.   ”
“   how did you get here? Well, I mean, not you personally... but your... your culture. I mean, how did all of this end up down here?   ”
“   Wh... what... what … are you telling me… that you remember what happened because you were there? No, that... that's impossible...   ”
“   How was my accent?   ”
“   You know, you deserve credit for even... even gettin' this far.   ”
“   By the way, we were never properly introduced. My name's Milo.   ”
“   Uh, hey, you got a nickname?   ”
“   You know, my grandpa used to tell me stories about this place as far back as I can remember.   ”
“   I just wish that he could be standing here with me.   ”
“   We are not thriving. True, our people live. but our culture is dying.   ”
“   I wish there was something I could do.   ”
“   Why don't you lead the way, because I have no idea where we're going.   ”
“   This is amazing! A complete history of Atlantis!   ”
   “   I am such an idiot.   ”
“   This is just another treasure hunt for you.   ”
“   I would've told you sooner, but it was strictly on a need-to-know basis.   ”
“   Welcome to the club, son.   ”
“   Mercenary? I prefer the term "adventure capitalist."   ”
“   You don't know what you're tampering with, Rourke.   ”
“   Academics. You never want to get your hands dirty.   ”
   “   I got to admit, I'm disappointed.   ”
“   You're an idealist, just like your grandfather.   ”
“   For once, do the smart thing.   ”
“   I really hate it when negotiations go sour.   ”
“   Well, as usual, diplomacy has failed us.   ”
“   You've got to listen to me. You don't have the slightest idea what this power is capable of.   ”
“   Let’s get this over with. I don’t like this place.
   “   Doesn’t anything surprise you?   ”
“   Talk to me, Thatch. What's happening?   ”
“   So I guess this is how it ends, huh?   ”
“   You've read Darwin. It's called natural selection. We're just helping it along.   ”
“   Be serious. This is wrong, and you know it.   ”
“    You pick now of all times to grow a conscience?   ”
“   She has been chosen... like her mother before her.   ”
“   I followed you in, and I'll follow you out.   ”
“   it's been my experience that when you hit bottom, the only place left to go is up.   ”
“   What do you think that you are doing?   ”
“   We're going to save Atlantis, or we're going to die trying.   ”
“   Well, I have to hand it to you. You're a bigger pain in the neck than I would have ever thought possible.   ”
“   Tired? Aw, that's a darn shame, because I'm just getting warmed up.   ”
“   There's a hero's welcome waiting for the man who discovered Atlantis.   ”
“   I don't think the world needs another hero.   ”
“   I'm going to miss that boy. At least he's in a better place now.   ”

hey can i request for charon from hades x male nymph reader who is a chef in the house of hades headcanons
Of course! This is my first time writing for Charon tho so forgive me if it's not great. Also I try to keep all reader inserts as gender-neutral as possible so I hope you don't mind, sorry! Hope you like it :D
Tumblr media
🛶Charon/Chef!Reader Headcanons🛶
I imagine you meet through Zagreus as Charon doesn't visit the House very often. It's not that he's banned from it or anything, he just much prefers to be on his own. So Zagreus is really his only source of gossip. Luckily, Zagreus is chatty as hell and mentions you to Charon almost immediately. Hades rarely hires new staff so of course Charon's interest is piqued. He's even more interested when Zagreus brings him some food you've made. Now, Charon doesn't usually care for food one way or the other. He appreciates the Nectar Zagreus brings him, but honestly he'd be equally as appreciative of like a cool rock or something. Still, something about your food is intriguing to Charon. Maybe it’s your nymph heritage impacting the way you cook? After all, nymphs are rare in the Underworld.
Charon kinda lowkey pesters Zagreus to bring him more of your cooking. Zagreus happily does, but he also meddles because he's Zagreus and I'm pretty sure that man physically does not know how to not meddle. He'll start by mentioning to you that you've got a fan in the Underworld.
"You know... Charon's been going nuts for your cooking. Well, I mean, as much as he's capable of going nuts for anything really."
He'll also encourage Charon to go see you in person himself. It occurs to Charon that yeah. That is a thing he could do actually. He doesn't really care for the House but you intrigue him so he'll manage. For a few visits at least anyway.
I choose to believe that Charon is fully capable of making himself understood by anyone if he actually wants to talk to them. He simply doesn't bother most of the time because he just genuinely wants everyone to go away and leave him to his own business. However this isn't common knowledge so you're surprised when you find you can understand Charon. You certainly weren't able to understand him when he first picked you up from Erebus.
Charon gravitates most to the open, bold, chatty type, but he can appreciate it if you're quiet and somber instead. Be a decent person, treat him with respect and kindness, and Charon will keep coming back.
Nyx likes that you've encouraged her eldest son to visit more often and will draw you aside and tell you so. Which is probably quite alarming because she hardly ever talks to you. (Canonically she does tell Dusa off for talking with Zag, but it's different in this case. Charon is perfectly alright cutting ties if people push his boundaries too much, unlike Zag who will try to work it out.) Hypnos also stops by to thank you, because now he gets to see his brother more often! Also congratulations. By befriending Charon you have now earned the respect of both Thanatos and Hypnos! Thanatos is more subtle about it, but Hypnos is now so fully intrigued by your ability to draw his brother's attention that he will routinely ditch work to come hang out with you. I hope you don't expect him to help with cooking though. Hypnos is more of a sit on the counter and gossip kind of colleague.
Charon starts to make a point to visit you as often as he can. Like his brother, he'll sit with you, but unlike Hypnos he'll actually use a chair like a proper adult. He finds it fascinating to just sit quietly and watch you work, and will occasionally rumble out a question about what you're doing. May potentially be enticed to chop vegetables or stir something, but really he'd just prefer to watch. He can't help that he finds you so enthralling!
Kind of a nuisance to be perfectly honest. Won't outright steal food but he will stare at you with puppy-dog eyes until you let him taste. And once you two grow close, Charon becomes a lot touchier. Will stand directly behind you with his arms around your waist and rest his chin on your shoulder.
Scary dog privileges activated. Because Charon likes you, you have amazing job security. If you're ever fired, Charon will be over the moon because now he gets you all to himself immediately find you another place to continue your cooking. They aren't as prestigious as the House, but there are still bars and restaurants in Elysium he can find work for you, if that's what you want to do. If you're really broken up about it though, Charon will just straight up go on strike. Look, he's besties with Zagreus and he'll still charge him like fifty bucks for a sandwich even if he's on the brink of death. My man is a petty bitch.

Hey, I was wondering if maybe you could do yandere headcanons for The Riddler from arkahm city? I rarley see anything about the arkahm games. However, If not it's fine, have a nice day or night!
Yandere Arkham City! Riddler Headcanons
...Uh, hi. I'm back. sorry for the prolonged hiatus, I've just been...dealing with a lot at the moment. I'm glad to be back. I'm not gonna be making a full blown post for it, so imma just say my piece here. Don't worry Anon, I'm gonna get to your request soon- just wanna talk a little bit. Requests will be off for awhile, how long, I'm not sure. Going to finish the requests I can, I won't force myself to do them all- because if I can't write it, then I realize I'm not obligated to. A reason that I quit was because I was so overwhelmed with stuff. But that was any of your faults! I am absolutely astounded that I have so much support! Just that sometimes I need to realize that I can't do everything there is out there, because I'm still an amateur writer, there's a lot I can't do and even more that I have yet to get good at. Sorry for rambling, here's your request Anon!!
Slightly suggestive near the end, oopsie doopsie guys. Oh yeah, and he says some really mean words, guys- an absolute shocker 🤯
Tumblr media
Here's the thing when it comes to Edward. He's an asshole- a smug, insensitive asshole. Of course, we all know this by now. But this snarky self-absorbed piece of shit is slowly starting to decay, inside out. His mental state fluctuates, and it really is straining on your "relationship". He believes in more practicality, you're here to be his assistant, and he's here to protect your primitive brain (though, less than your peers, just enough for him to take you under his wing and truly try and help you flourish) from combusting. He can make you smarter, you know. You have so much potential, enough to be second best...Just watch, and learn. It's not like you'll have a choice.
Yeah...The first few weeks-months will be tenuous- it's likely you didn't join this relationship of your own volition. And even if you somehow did, it's not going to be any better. He's making you go no contact with the outside world. While you call it a fucked up form of house arrest, he prefers to call it a more civilized form of rehabilitation. Sorry, not sorry- those idiotic, moronic, brain-dead louts would taint you again. No wonder you're so much dumber than him, all your life you've been surrounded by bad influences (so was he, but he's a prodigy, and you're just smarter than average- it's different). You have to stay away from them because any smarts he's been giving you might be sucked up by those braindead leeches!
Good news though- free range of his living space (if you can even call it that)! While he's still keeping his appearance semi-clean, his space hasn't, as he's slowly beginning his descent into the Arkham Knight version. But hey, how about you be a good helper and pick some stuff up- keep you occupied short-term. Because, you try and talk to him, it's going to be a lot longer- and you might want to take notes because he is going to test your knowledge on it later.
"Why are you bothering me? ..Cleaning? No, no, you stop that. If you're going to keep your mind occupied, then I recommend you grab the 11mm crowfoot wrench and get over here." When you didn't move, be it you didn't know where he stored those or a genuine lack of knowledge about wrenches, he peered up from his work. "..What, can't even do that?" He signed, furrowing his brow, but prevented himself from badmouthing further. It wasn't their fault for having an idiot society teach them about these things. "..Just- grab the flashlight, over there on the counter, I'll get it myself- and you better pay attention. This mistake will not be made more than once, I assure you of it."
Pity is a common occurrence, but his sympathy isn't. Oh, your poor pitiful shrunken brain, rotting away from all the bad people in your life. But you should've taken one quick look at him, realized he was your intellectual superior and asked for him to bring your brain to a normal size and to ditch everyone else in your life. That's your fault.
Now, it isn't all bad! Look on the bright side, learning is now your full time job- with him as your teacher (in a non-sexual way, because god-damnit if you think you can get out of learning about the proper ways to build one of his puzzles by giving him a handjob (you can, and probably should to avoid what would be considered a 5 hour lecture over the course of the day)). He enjoys teaching you all that he knows, and he expects you to share that enthusiasm, especially when he talks about batman. When he starts talking about the flying rat that plagues his life, you better listen. You're going to be his assistant someday with all of this 'killing Batman' thing, so you better hop on that train early.
While he does call you an idiot, he's just self-projecting his hatred of Batman (and himself) onto you. No, it's not your fault- it's 100% his own and he won't apologize or acknowledge it in a meaningful way. It slowly dissipates the more your 'nasty' attitude does, but even then it never fully disappears. Depends on the day. He'll never get better, though, not fully. And once you see how bad he becomes in Arkham Knight, you'll realize this isn't as low as he can go.
"You idiot! Can't you do something right? When I talk, you listen! Why do I even keep you around?! You're an absolute buffoon, you know that?...Of course you don't, you see? If you were with me sooner, you wouldn't be like this. We'll get you to the intelligence level you should be, don't you worry, but clearly we're going to need to change tactics if I'm going to get it through that thick skull of yours."

I have a kind of dumb disorganized question. Do you think we’ll revisit the reasoning for the San Francisco memory alteration in season 3? I might be just missing something but I don’t think there’s actually an established reason for Armand altering Louis memory? I tend to think we’re all in alignment that Armand made the edit for both Louis and Daniel, (again showcasing how the power dynamics in Loumand are kind of deceptive - Armand is just much more powerful than Louis both socially in the world and as a vampire) but I’m just not sure what the reasoning is?
I saw a kind of interesting post out in the wild proposing that Louis actually did ask Armand to alter that memory and while I think that’s interesting in the abstract, I can’t divorce the race/power dynamics angles that would call into question (delegitimizating what Louis has been through). Which brings me back to, for a number of reasons I do think the intended read is Armand erased the memory from Louis’ mind without his knowledge. But I’m back to the question of why? It kind of seems like Loumand is in the same spot before and after the mind wipe to me, is there another layer here I missed?
I think we'll learn more about it somewhere in the show as it progresses, yes, cuz it's too big of a mystery to leave unanswered.
this is sort of an aside before I get into it, but I keep thinking of the extent of these powers. we don't know a lot about it still. armand seems aware that recollection is possible, bcuz he's not ttly surprised when he sees that daniel and louis have remembered stuff. so I think it's interesting why he chose that moment and not others and I'm still piecing together thoughts about it as a whole.
anyway tho. this is potentially a headcanon as my answer, so remember that bcuz I'm def not trying to say this is "the" answer. I have no idea fr.
armand's "explanation" in 2x6 could be a whole post itself but that's sort of ot so I'm just going with what the "truth" was otherwise for so long. let's look at the phrasing of it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
armand doesn't forget that louis thought daniel was "fascinating." he also didn't forget what louis said it meant for their relationship that he stay alive. if we consider that armand has awareness that memories might partially or fully return, placing himself as responsible for seeing the "fascinating" qualities in daniel first and "saving" him from louis makes him look better than what rly happened. without the actual audio from that time period, neither of them prbly would have remembered the rly "bad" parts. I'm gonna guess armand knows this too as he's shown unwinding tapes (I know they're not *the* tapes but still, the visual is there for a reason....alongside editing claudia's diaries too) and obviously this part of the interview was *not* kept to the og version anyone had access to that he was aware of.
assad said in an interview (sry I forget which one rn) that armand is thrown off when he speaks to louis about turning madeleine. when louis kisses him and then walks away, like he could walk away at any moment from the whole relationship and be fine without it. armand in the show says he'd be "nothing" without louis. I'm not sure when it starts exactly but there is a point where armand puts himself in the position of always knowing what's "best" for louis. it's a subtle manipulation and not what louis was used to from lestat. it gives the illusion of being cared for by someone who loves u instead of being controlled. armand knows that louis thinks he's boring so he has to do something to create a world where he isn't....or at least where louis thinks highly of him for *something.*
I always saw a lot of daniel paralleling jonah in this. both of them live to old age even tho their existence is painful to some of the most powerful vampires who could have killed them in a second. killing either of them would drive the wedge between them (lestat and armand) and louis even further tho, and they both know that. it also won't fix the issue. ya ok so jonah *did* have more of a history with louis before that moment than daniel did but it's still the same thing of "why do u feel this for someone else and not me? what is wrong with *me* that we don't have this?" especially cuz both points of interest are humans compared to vampire partners. lestat prbly kept tabs on jonah his whole life too.
so that's as much as I've had thoughts on this anyway. idk if it helps.
oh also ia and I don't think louis would ask to erase anything either. this is a man who keeps pebbles in his ankles to remember claudia's death. louis is so full of catholic guilt that there's no way that man would ask to forget *anything* that hurts him.

Being in Hellfire Club HCs
These are mostly for myself to have consistency in my fics.
-Eddie is the one to approach any potential new members. He's been recruiting for 2 years now, and he's very selective. But he can also sniff out a freak a mile away.
-Being part of Hellfire comes with a certain level of protection. Eddie is more than happy to be the big bad wolf to protect his sheep members. Most people leave Hellfire alone because they think Eddie will snap.
-There are the core members of the club (Eddie, Jeff, Gareth, Mike, Dustin, and un-named member who I am calling Zack), as well as subs. Subs are people who were curious and usually approached Eddie first. They have a passing interest, but not enough to risk being associated with the freaks.
-Everyone in Hellfire has cut class at least once to take a nap in Eddie's van.
-Everyone in the club knows that Eddie deals but unless they have intent to buy they keep their mouth shut.
-Eddie won't sell to freshmen. Period.
-The club doesn't do much outside of school. Of course, Corroded Coffin has band practice but that's about it.
-Once in a blue moon they will do "side quest day". The club will go to the arcade and play games and if they manage to impress Eddie, he might give them a buff or inspiration for the next session. This rarely happens though.
-Eddie runs a very tight ship with Hellfire. If you're committed to being part of the club outside of being a sub, you better take it seriously. You absolutely are required to wear the shirt during the school day. He's definitely given out punishments for not wearing the shirt
-He isn't unreasonable though. If you can give him a good reason why you can't do something he's willing to work with you. Eddie has the respect of his club for a reason.
-They absolutely are not allowed to be lighting candles in the prop department, but they do anyway.
-Eddie's chair is his and his alone. Don't try and sit in it. (*If no one else is around you might be able to get away with it. Just don't try it in front of the whole club.)
-Everyone got really into playing cards at lunch for about a month, betting snacks until a teacher shut that down. Sometimes they'll still try and play after school.
-Most of the club has been playing the same character for years from level one. Eddie prefers a clean slate character. Subs are able to create characters closer to where everyone is.
-if you're joining late in the game, you can create a leveled character, but you'll be a few levels behind everyone until you prove yourself.
-If you need to get up and move around a bit during the session, that's alright, but there is a clear line that you can't cross. Try and peak behind the screen and you're in trouble.
-You don't need to have the Advanced Dungeons and Dragons handbook memorized, but he expects at least basic knowledge if you're serious about the club. You absolutely need to understand your character race and class
-Eddie is not afraid of 'rule of cool' if you can sell your point hard enough. He isn't a full rules lawyer, but he isn't here to make this easy. Fun? Yes. Challenging? Frustratingly so.
-There has been a blow out fights over rules before. Tensions were running high with midterms and everyone having a shitty day. Someone's character died, Hellfire was cut short that night as everyone went and cooled off. That was the one time that Eddie scrapped a session and agreed to a do-over.
-Eddie is easier to talk to one-on-one outside of club. He's genuine with his love for Hellfire, but he's more likely to let his walls down when it's just him and someone else.
-He used to skip class a lot, but has been genuinely trying to graduate now. Now he only skips maybe once or twice a month.
-Gareth isn't allowed to have his drumsticks at the table anymore.

You know what, I'm going to make a theory for how Transformers One is going to play out. Let's see.
So a lot of people have observed that Megatron/D-16 already has a Decepticon insignia in all of his clips in the trailer. As far as I could tell, no other character has any symbols at all (aside from some text that might be part of an altmode, similar to Prowl's doorwings having "police" on them when he's on Earth). In one clip, however, we see him kneeling in front of what could be the head of a long-dead ancient Cybertronian - I would guess Megatronus, since Megatron has to get his name from somewhere. So my theories for that:
D-16 is religious and/or believes in the ancient Primes, and the insignia is similar to a tattoo.
The insignia is actually used by the current regime to mark criminals or other "undesirables". D-16 got in trouble in the past, either for something he did or something someone else did, and now he's gun-shy (heh) about breaking further rules; hence why he resists Orion's desire to go to the surface, and is generally more cautious than he is. When they do get to the surface, however, he learns about the ancient Prime whose face resembles the brand he wears, and he eventually claims both the name and the symbol as his own.
Honestly, I prefer option 2. It has more potential for storytelling, and it feels more like Megatron to me. So I'm going to go with that.
To the story itself. I'm going to guess that the Quintessons are in charge, but this might not be common knowledge - D-16 does say that the surface is dangerous, but the "lowly worker-bots" might not know exactly why. I prefer the more deceptive approach that those stuck living underground believe they're at war with the Quintessons, when in reality, that war ended long ago. The workers are allowed to keep up the illusion either because it serves the Quints - workers who believe their oppressors are already being fought aren't going to rise up - or because it allows the higher-ranking Cybertronians to keep some portion of their population safely out of the Quints' reach. Maybe both.
If it's the former, workers' T-cogs are taken to further reduce the odds of an uprising, while for the latter, perhaps the cogs were taken under the guise of being needed for soldiers, when in reality, it's to keep the workers from leaving their safe place. I lean more towards the leaders having good intentions but deplorable methods, because it sets the stage for a divide in the Cybertronian people after the Quintessons are dealt with. Also, it fits better with my theory that the Decepticon insignia is being used as a criminal brand of some kind.
So our heroes get to the surface and learn the truth of things - the war long-since ended and their people are functionally slaves to the Quints. But there are still bots capable of resisting the invaders - the proto-Decepticons, currently lead by Starscream.
I feel like this could go one of two ways - either the proto-Cons could fight the Quints but won't, and so need to be convinced. Or they are fighting them and refuse to let the eager young heroes help because they can't even transform. I prefer the latter, partly because I already have someone else the heroes need to convince, and partly because it's the heroes being turned away that leads them to the next story beat: they can't transform and there are no T-cogs left, but there is someone who might be able to help them.
And so the *ahem* Quest for Alpha Trion begins.
They find him at the gravesite of his long-since fallen brethren, D-16 discovers Megatronus - and Alpha Trion will not help them, because he sees no point. The Quints have already won, and further fighting will only lead to more death.
My basis for this beat comes from Elita's line in the trailer: "We were given these powers for a reason". It's possible this was just a line plucked from somewhere else as a voiceover, and that it just happens to synch up very well with the clip where the line starts. But based on that clip, she says it to Alpha Trion while the heroes are still unable to transform. So when she says "we were given these powers" she's not talking about the heroes; she's talking about Cybertronians as a whole. I think that, while Alpha Trion initially refuses to help them, he does fill them in on some of their history, which then gives the heroes what they need to talk him into helping.
And so, with their newly acquired T-cogs, the crew is able to join the battle against the Quints, they successfully drive out the invaders, and everything ends well - except there is disagreement over how the Cybertronian race should proceed now that they're free to govern themselves.
Cue end credits.
(Yes, I think they're going to use the Bots vs Cons war as sequel bait. I do not think they can tell the entire story in one movie and would frankly prefer they not try. Of course, they could handle things far differently than I laid out, but even then, with the inclusion of the Quints, I just don't think one movie has time to address everything). Edit: Oh yeah, and I guess Orion becomes Optimus at some point near the end there. I dunno how or why. I don't think Hasbro would let him stay Orion for an entire movie, but with the setup they've got, I'm not sure how they're gonna fit Pax-to-Prime in there.

I know to a lot of non Americans, you may think this is funny. You may just think "sucks to suck" and move along. I've seen a lot of "Why do Americans think they're the center of the universe? The US elections won't effect me bc I'm from *insert country*". Not only are you wrong, but you're being willfully ignorant. I am a queer black woman. I say this without an ounce of patriotism, but what happens here will effect you in some shape or form. American popular culture already effects your country whether you'd like to acknowledge that or not and it has for years. And if you think that an insanely rich, narcissistic, racist, white supremacist, bigoted, misogynistic, mentally decaying, rapist who is in the pockets of many dictators and has said very candidly that he'd like to take away basic human freedoms being in charge of one of the "richest" and most militarized countries WON'T effect you then you're actually fucking stupid. America is the sole superpower left and, if nothing else, the trickle-down effect still exists. The poison drips through. This isn't fear mongering, this is honesty about the state of our nation and the potential state of yours. If that knowledge makes you fearful, then that's bc it's a bleak fucking reality. I'd advise actually reading up on what's going on and what policies will be implemented through project 2025, especially the foreign policies.
And, hey if the guy in charge of all the nukes and military power first instict is to intimidate any country that doesn't immediately bend the knee to America, then maybe we have a bit of a global issue on our hands?

Hello! I've been following your blog for a bit and I was wondering what exactly Lloyd in Siren and Pirates AU looks like compared to the two siblings? Does he have any other differences compared to normal sirens or any immediate telltale signs that he's a hybrid? Also are there any other characters like Skylor, Ronin, or even the Overlord? I can imagine Ronin potentially being a side threat as a siren hunter or something, but the roles could still be different too. Speaking of which what exactly are Wu and Garmadon doing since Misako's dead?
Tumblr media
Lloyd is mostly human and his features are noticeable but he can hide them easily, people just tend to think he has a weird illness. The reason they don't think he's a hybrid is because humans can't reproduce with sirens, but Wu and Garmadon , being demigods , can shapeshift, that's why Lloyd is the only hybrid in the world.
After Misako's death, Wu and Garmadon kept doing what they always had, travelling around the world watching it change along the creatures in it, always without being seen themselves. Wu is curious about humans and is usually near them while Garmadon sticks next to the sea life. Garmadon also often visits Lloyd.
They are considered Sea gods by humans and each town worships one of them, the "good" one (the other sibling is considered the "evil" one).
Lloyd gets to have a normal, calm life in this AU because he deserves it!
As for other characters, I decided that captain Soto is going to be the Bounty's old captain that's going to be kicked out eventually.
Other pirates are Nadakhan (he's human in the AU), Chen and Iron Baron.
Nadakhan is a really smart and manipulative pirate that, despite having only one ship, is very powerful and feared.
Chen is trying to build the biggest army and already has a lot of ships under his command. He's a potential threat but the emperor won't do anything against him yet. Skylor is with him until she joins the Bounty's crew after Chen's defeat.
Iron Baron is a pirate but his crew focuses on hunting sea monsters, including sirens.
I like the idea of Ronin being a siren hunter and I thought that the people of the town of Stixx are also siren hunters because they live in siren territory. Stixx also produces the best sea monster hunting technology.
Said sirens are the ghosts of season 5 (they're alive of course). The preeminent is an abnormally big siren (twice the size a normal one). Morro is also a siren and he is obsessed with finding the legendary siren Wu.
Harumi is the princess of the biggest kingdom in Ninjago (the other one being Shintaro) and she wants to get rid of the pirates because pirates killed her biological parents. She also wants to kill all sea monsters and hires hunters without the emperor's knowledge.
Lastly, Echo is a noble like his older brother Zane who ran away from home shortly after him to find him.
The Overlord can be a sea monster ig
That's all extra characters I have for now.

hey, uh, fellow anxiety sufferer with maybe helpful advice? hopefully?? feel free to ignore if this doesn't vibe with you!
so, my anxiety has gotten a LOT better over the years. like, a lot. but when it was more frequent, i would get chest tightness too and i hated it.
so, what i basically learned is that the physiological reason you feel that tightness is because your brain has responded to your anxious state by producing two hormones, namely adrenaline and cortisol.
the fun thing about these hormones? they don't really dissipate if you sit around. other hormones? to my knowledge, yeah. these guys? no. no, they often get worse.
that's probably why it's bad when you're at home, if you're not doing too much physically. sitting when your anxiety is high can backfire if you're being pumped with adrenaline.
the adrenaline is there to get you up and moving to escape danger. it wants you to move.
the cortisol is the the body's stress response. it will turn off your body's ability to relax, and it will continue to do so until you get rid of it.
so, by sitting around and trying to relax to lessen it? usually makes it worse. like. super worse, potentially.
now, breathing exercises and mindfulness are really helpful! for sure! gentle exercise is pretty good when it's low-mid levels of anxiety. walking and aerobic exercise are good for those moments.
i try to walk around 30 minutes a day (if i can fucking time crunch it), and it's been helpful for me, honestly.
the thing about "oh, you should exercise more" people would tell you when i was struggling really kind of ticked me off (because, hey, there's a lot more to it than that!) and kind of made me more reluctant to exercise, honestly.
however, once i figured out what i enjoyed doing and that it was really just for me? yeah, i liked it.
my best advice, perhaps, is for when the chest pain gets really bad. if you ever feel like you're going to have a panic attack and you want to avoid one, the best thing you can do is REALLY INTENSE EXERCISE.
LIKE. DROP AND GIVE ME OVER 9000!!!!
seriously, just drop and do as many push ups if you can. can't do push ups, make it easier by laying on your knees or performing something that's more comfortable to you.
also, if you can, run. specifically, LIKE YOU'RE BEING CHASED BY A BEAR. just GO FOR IT.
because the adrenaline is specifically designed to make you run away like you're running from a fucking bear. by doing so, you cut down on the adrenaline, and your body feels like it has successfully escaped the imaginary bear that is threatening you. and it calms down.
so you calm down.
do whatever strenuous activity you can really intensely until you can't anymore or just feel done, and after you catch your breath, the feeling should be lessened.
otherwise, a different avenue to try may be intense distraction. like, not lowkey distraction like watching tv. something that requires a lot of attention. try doing a really hard puzzle, quizzing yourself on subjects you like, whatever really actively engages your mind.
a combo of physical and mental engagement might be helpful, too. whatever feels good or works for you. the tightness can be really annoying (or distressing when you're not feeling great), but there are things to be done for it! the tightness can get better, and with attention, it likely will. go for it!
moral of the story: RUN LIKE A FUCKING LUNATIC IF IT MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER!!!
NONNIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!1111111 YOU ARE AN ANGEL SENT FROM HEAVENNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! me a proper homebody watching you say that just sitting around won't do me any good O . O lmao NO BUT BUT BUT THIS IS VERY GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i've been thinking about doing yoga again,, okay it's not very intense per se but i feel like that would still probably help right.. ?
and goddd i actually really fucking love running!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! not that i'm any good at it but it's so fucking fun lmao i do have some . things that keep me from doing it though that always just sound like i'm trying to look for excuses and i fucking hate that i wish i could just put on running clothes and just go and do it .
YOU DID JUST REMIND ME THAT I HAVE A JUMPING ROPE THOUGH THAT'S ALSO SMTH I USED TO DO A LOT AND I LOVED ITTTTT i think i've been taking steps back lmao i think i've lost the progress i managed to make a few years ago sighhh this is good though this post this ask. it feels like a very needed gentle bonk on the head hgsdhgadhgashg SO THANK YOUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM KISSING YOU SOOO SOOO SWEETLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ILYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wanna try and make a sweetheart angst fic,, i need suggestions
I may never post it thoug
me myself personally I'm not too knowledgeable on fanfic stuffs, I've read like 1 or 2 in my time on the internet, but if you want any problems that Sweetheart may have I can most likely provide
To clear things up that WOULDN'T be a problem, I'd say body positivity. Sweetheart is 100% in love with her looks I'd say that's painfully obvious from her merch alone.
Mentally though she's absolutely fucked, Considering that the only parental figures she has is her Donut grandma, and even then her grandma comments about how she doesn't visit much, Sweetheart probably has a very loose connection with her. Her castle and shows and everything she does to garner attention to herself I think is a result of her suffering from neglect as a kid so she's trying to make up for that. It'd also make sense with her lack of social skills and 0 actual friends as well as the fact that she holes herself up in her castle, literally NO ONE taught her how to interact with people and how to live in the real world. I don't think she's entirely oblivious to these problems, just shutting them out with her golden ego and blinding herself with her "perfect" life. Lot's of issues with how she refuses to see how fucked she is, but I think she still absolutely knows it. In my big fucking post about Sweetheart I brought up how I thought her battle is torment for her cuz she's slowly coming to the term with the fact that her world really isn't perfect, and I don't think it's a new feeling just one that's been amplified during her battle, she knows deep down her current situation is terrible but it's not like she can do anything about it. Accepting it will make her feel worse and it's not like she has any friends she can go to, who the fuck is she gonna get help from? a sprout mole?
Post Humphrey Sweetheart is absolutely 100% way fucking worse. Any redeeming qualities her castle had is now gone and she's at probably the worst spot she's been yet. Any denial about how terrible her life was has been thrown out because she is at the undeniably worst spot of her life. She now has to deal with the fact that she took her castle life for granted, unaware of how worse things could get, but going back to it would mean going back to the lonely fantasy she had before, so while it's a saving grace compared to her maid job it definitely won't fix her problems. To make things worse Perfectheart is also thrown into the mix. Perfectheart is quite literally a perfect Sweetheart, a mockery of Sweetheart, everything Sweetheart wants to be is right in front of her watching over as she toils away at her maid duties, stuck in the spot her selfishness and greed brought her to. I think I've brought up before what I think of Perfectheart and Sweethearts dynamic for any potential Sweetheart character arc. Perfectheart can see Sweethearts troubled, she acts as her overseer to keep her in line so she pays off her debt, but also tries to nudge Sweetheart in the right path so she doesn't stay as the lonely brat she is. I like to think Perfectheart is TRYING to be SWHs friend, doing things and giving her things to make her feel more comfortable in her current situation. And on the other end, Sweetheart absolutely HATES Perfectheart, not for anything she did, just their existence mocks her. While Perfectheart just thinks Sweetheart being so dismissive of her is because Perfectheart didn't end up as her perfect suitor, Sweetheart wants nothing to do with what is basically everything she couldn't be. I'm sure at some point they'll get along and Sweetheart will open up, but when Sweetheart DOES open up it is going to be EXTREMELY messy.
tl;dr, Pre Humphrey Sweetheart suffers from neglect and denying her imperfections. Post Humphrey Sweetheart has accepted her imperfections, hates herself more than she ever could, and the one person trying to be her friend hurts to look at.
Anyways that's all I have to say about Sweethearts problems, I hope at least some of this is good fuel for your angst

That Hidden Stone asshole Kakkō is a major reason why everything (in life, not the plot) sucks for Kakashi and Naruto's generations in Naruto.
Literally the only reason Obito ended up getting crushed was because neither Kakashi nor Obito thought to finish off that Hidden Stone ninja Kakkō after Kakashi slashed him with his dad's chakra sabre. The cut wasn't enough to render him fully unconscious, they just assumed it was, so he was able to get back up and then collapse the cave they were in. Literally all it would have taken is Kakashi taking that chakra sabre and stabbing the same dude through the throat or the skull *before* going over and releasing Rin from that genjutsu. Somewhere out there is an alternate timeline where Kakashi finished that prick off, and thus the cave-in never happened. Obito doesn't get crushed, all three of them walk out of that cave unscathed (except for Kakashi still missing an eye but I digress), and a lot changes overall from there. 1. Madara doesn't have a young Obito to manipulate into taking over the Eye of the Moon plan, and *maybe* he never finds a suitable Uchiha to take over the plan at all. We don't know exactly how long the Gedo Statue could sustain him, whether it was forever or just by a few decades. Then again, maybe he does. Who knows. I hear Uchiha Yashiro was a massive prick, maybe Madara manipulates him instead. But he was also a chickenshit so probably not. 2. Rin doesn't get kidnapped as a result of Madara's manipulations of the Hidden Mist village cause he no longer has Obito there to try to manipulate. So she LIVES to the present day. Or at the least, probably doesn't die by impaling herself on Kakashi's Chidori. 3. Obito gets to keep training alongside his teammates and friends and doesn't ever become Tobi, so the Kyuubi attack on the village never happens, Minato and Kushina don't die literally the day Naruto's born (maybe they die later in some other way but at least Naruto *will have parents* and won't be treated like the scum of the earth for the Kyuubi's attack on the village. Since again, it doesn't happen in this timeline). Hiruzen doesn't have to step back into the role of Hokage, at the very least not as quickly. Probably not at all, with how strong Minato already was and the potential he had. Minato probably ends up getting way stronger and ends up becoming the strongest Hokage in history (at least, compared to his predecessors). Yes, I actually think he'd eventually surpass even Hashirama in strength. Remember, Minato died at only 24. He had A LOT of room to grow. And he probably doesn't listen to Danzo's bullshit either. Remember, Hiruzen tolerated it because he had a childhood friendship to Danzo. Minato doesn't have that connection to Danzo.
3.5. Since Obito never becomes evil, he has nothing to do with the incarnation of the Akatsuki we saw in Shippuden. Maybe they still become that though, Danzo is infamously, a fucking prick. 4. Kakashi doesn't have to live with the guilt of being unable to save his friends, though on the other hand he never gets the Sharingan either and will be old one eye his whole life. But considering how badly the Sharingan drained his stamina and how much his trauma held back his true potential over the years, that might work out to Kakashi's benefit and have him be much stronger, much faster. He'd have to either readapt or discard Chidori though, since it's not safe to use without the Sharingan. Maybe he holds onto the knowledge and teaches the Chidori to someone that CAN use it better than he could.
5. When Orochimaru goes rogue, Minato (who again, *lives* in this timeline) probably isn't gonna let his ass get away, even if Hiruzen still does. Orochimaru is a slippery bastard but he can't keep up with fucking TELEPORTING.
5.5. Even if Orochimaru does get away, and eventually attacks Konoha like he does in the main timeline, it's unlikely he'd survive a fight with Minato. But chances are he wouldn't DARE try to take on Minato. ...oooh wait, Madara might consider trying to ally with Orochimaru if he lives long enough to do so. Again, still some questions on just how long being connected to the Gedo Statue could actually extend Madara's lifespan. But Orochimaru *does* desire the Sharingan and might be able to be swayed to help Madara in exchange for help in gaining said Sharingan abilities. And that's actually a scary possibility.
6. The Uchiha are never blamed for the attack of the Kyuubi, since in this timeline it never happened. They're also not shoved to the edge of the village, put under surveillance, and ultimately massacred by Itachi due to Danzo's manipulation. Sasuke never has to see his clan massacred, he has loving parents and a loving brother, and he never has to leave the village to seek power for his revenge. Shisui probably lives too, seeing as Danzo attacked him basically to prevent him from using Koto Amatsukami on Fugaku to prevent the coup d'etat that again, most likely wouldn't even happen in this timeline. Maybe Danzo would attack him for his eyes anyway though, Danzo's a fucking prick afterall.
7. Minato as Hokage would probably be very impressed by Itachi's academy scores and chunin exam times, considering they both were child geniuses. He'd probably keep tabs on Itachi, maybe even take Itachi under his wing to an extent and consider Itachi a future successor to him. And when Itachi gets that chakra illness, Minato, knowing Jiraiya personally, could ask Jiraiya to find Tsunade and bring her back personally to help treat Itachi.
7.5. Alternatively, there's a possiblity Obito, now that he's finally activated his Sharingan, finally starts excelling as a ninja, and he's the man Minato considers most as a future successor to himself. Reason I didn't write this as the main possibility is we don't know how much of Obito's later strength came to him naturally, and how much of it was due to his having White Zetsu cells attached to him in combination with the Mangekyo and the Uchiha curse of hatred. Obito got A LOT of buffs from his circumstances. I still think he'd be a great ninja and jonin someday, of course, we just don't know how great he'd be without those buffs. That being said, if we consider the assumption that Obito *is* still strong enough to succeed Minato as Hokage valid, I could see Minato assigning Itachi to Obito's team at first, and when Obito succeeds Minato, Obito and to a lesser extent Minato both groom Itachi to be Obito's eventual successor.
8. Some other random people that aren't gonna die since Obito never goes evil: Hiruzen's wife, Kurenai's dad, Iruka's parents, and countless anbu and other nameless ninja that died in the 9-tails attack.
TL;DR So much awful shit could have been avoided if Kakashi or Obito finished this particular jackass off. He's not the ONLY reason life sucks for Kakashi and Naruto's generations, but he's a massive part of it. Thanks Kakkō, you fucking asshole lmao:

Bit of a heavy, long-winded and complex question but you seem like the blog to ask (please bare with me here). For some background... I'm 28, neurodivergent, queer, vegan (though returned to eating meat for dietary/health/accessibility reasons), environmentalist... but here's where the heavy part of my question lies:
I recently had to steer myself away from being groomed into alt-right run centrist spaces over the last several years (eg. the "antifa are terrorists", "BLM are racist hypocrites who purchased mansions", "trans youth are being put on hormone blockers by predators" talk, etc etc you get the picture.) A lot of these views are ones that I have re-examined as of late.
Alongside the shame of knowing I had my views so grossly skewed by these people, I worry about my former misinformation or lack of education potentially keeping me from fully re-immersing into the community because some of the things I'm working to unlearn are the kind of things I'd expect to get a "fuck off nazi/-phobe/-ist" response for. Perhaps this is still a bias I hold, that I'll be met with gatekeeping or feel a major whiplash when realizing just how badly the alt-right tried to recruit me, and the knowledge that I need to unlearn a lot of misinformation feels like a barrier that keeps me from connecting with others.
So... kind of a two part question I guess.
1. How do I find resources to better educate myself on punk history and the misinformation about certain movements, while acknowledging my own former biases?
2. How do I overcome the shame of my previously misdirected leanings, and allow myself to re-approach the punk community without feeling ostracised or excluded?
Thank you so much for your resources and support.
Before I get to you're questions, I'd like to take a moment to point something out to other people reading this. A lot of punks, if you met someone like this on the streets, you wouldn't hesitate to call them a poser. But you would be SO SO SO wrong. This person isn't a poser. This person is a victim. This person is SO much more punk than a LOT of people, just by taking their biases into account and wanting to change. Trying to change. Learning to change. Just keep that in mind for the future, punks don't just emerge from the ground being well versed in all the ideology. They have to learn it from somewhere. And typically, they have to override other ideologies that have been taught to them by either parents or other trusted individuals. Especially in this day and age where the internet is an information shit storm.
Okay, now that that is out of the way, onto your specific questions.
I actually have a very good resource for you to check out for your first question. @bfpnola is a good starting place. The Better Future Program is a non-profit that is working to make the world a better place through education. Their Liberation Library is a GREAT resource for what you are looking for. For learning about punk history, me and a few other bloggers have put together a big list of different media to check out (link to post here). It might act as a good starting point for you.
As for your second question, that one is a bit harder. I'll be the first to admit that not every punk is going to be kind or understanding. Because of that, for a while, it probably will feel weird or excluding no matter what. Its like going from a kiddie pool to a high dive, you are getting VERY out of your learned comfort zone. But... it won't always feel like that. Eventually, you'll find your footing and start to feel more at ease in these spaces. The key is to keep learning and keep growing. The more you are in these spaces, the more you will learn. You might make mistakes, and that's okay, you're only human after all. My best advice for you while you explore these spaces and work on bettering yourself, is to just not get involved in political conversations. If you see or hear something that you don't agree with, take a step back before you do anything and ask yourself if its because of a bias you were taught. And you may not always be sure. That's okay. Its a process.
It does sound like you've gone through a lot, and that you are trying very hard to overcome these biases that you've been taught. There's a lot of emotional work required for that, and I think you are very admirable for your willingness to put in that effort and change. I would recommend looking into a therapist as well. Someone to bounce all of this off of. Discuss coping skills with. You might find that it helps you, and you might not. But there's no harm in giving it a go, you might find it can offer some very powerful tools.

Down a ten digit, now. Seeing the four stand where a five had was making it all the more real. Harder to deny. It'd be rather convenient to experience the five stages of grief over ten days each, that'd leave her with twenty days of acceptance, give or take.
But I don't accept this just yet.
She was feisty like that, so it goes.
"Are you finding it harder to ignore?"
Ruth's measuring the potted plant attached to one of the examination tables, either lost in thought or else doing a bang-up job pretending she was. "Finding what harder to ignore? How silly these experiments are?"
"No, I meant, you know… the deadline."
"It's a bit unrealistic to think you can ignore it, don't you think?"
"Well, that'd be the better way to conduct myself, wouldn't it? I'm not feeling much like I'm seizing the days I have left."
"Your memento mori is mixing with your carpe diem, hmmm?"
"I suppose so."
"I guess I'm ahead of schedule, then, I'm feeling a lot more caveat emptor than I am memento mori."
"Remind me what that is, exactly?"
"Let the buyer beware."
"Well, you can hardly say we paid for this."
"Not yet, but we might be paying the ultimate price soon."
Judith felt her breathing begin to get away from her. Her heartbeat was in her ears loud enough to nearly drown out the air processing. Her eyes were stinging with water. "Jesus, we really are, aren't we? I mean we really, truly are. I really am going to die."
"For now, it'd be the realistic thing to expect, but I ain't dead yet, Judy. It might not seem like it, but there's people down there scratching every fold of their brain trying to think up a way out of this. It's either silly to let it occupy your every thought because we'll have a solution, or it's useless, because you're just wasting your last days."
Judith sniffled, stray tears drifting into weightless space around her face. "But how can I not? I don't want to die."
"I know, honey. I don't either. There's not much waiting for me back down there, but it's enough to make me want to stick around to see it again. But until the second I feel myself starting to choke, my fight isn't over. And we still have something we need to do."
"I haven't thought about that too much today."
"Well, thinking yourself into a pit will do that. Find a rope, honey; we made a promise."
So Judith thought about it. The board was opening up now, there were many more options to consider. Every so often, while she pondered, tendrils of doubt would rear up from the pit Ruth had willed into existence, misery seeking company. Judith would dismiss them, each one more forceful and impatient than the last. But Ruth was right about the promise. So she strategized, simulated possible outcomes, let herself be tactical. They're having dinner when she says "Queen's side knight to D2."
Ruth wipes the corners of her mouth with a napkin. "You haven't forgotten the agreement, have you?"
"It's not an agreement, it's a wager. Jumping the gun gets you trouble in a game like this. I know better than to let you bait me."
Ruth caught Judith's drifting gaze, smiling a Cheshire smile. "Maybe I'll take a piece tonight, then."
"You'd sacrifice a potential lead just to get rid of the tension?"
"There's tension?"
Judith looks away, but she can tell Ruth's eyes are still on her. "Come on, now, don't tease me. I've too much dignity to be anything but coy."
"Methinks the lady hath read too much Jane Austen."
"You don't like thinking to yourself whether they will or they won't?"
"I don't think it's uncommon knowledge whether or not Mr. Darcy ends up with Elizabeth."
"Sure, but it's not about what happens eventually. It's about every time it's been so close, re-examining what was really happening once you know for sure. It's about the buildup."
"If you like the buildup," Ruth purred, "allow me my opportunity to construct. Fancy me an architect."
Judith knows she's playing along, now. Humoring a joke to avoid what follows the punchline. "Is that what this is?"
"No, no, I'm having too much fun teasing you. All you'll get from me now is this: Castle, rook at F8, king at F9"

I may have declared my refusal to reason, but alas my soul simply can't resist the appeal of babbling away
I will however drop the silly writing style because it might get long and I don't have the bandwith to keep that up, while I'll probably won't get that into depth on these I will still try to get my point across concisely
So now, first on the pecking order
Riddle and the Buried: I was a little worried I ended up choosing the Buried for too many characters in the line up, but I just can't resist the sweet call of the dirt I guess
Entities do have a lot of potential facets and the Buried is a crushing weight, an entrapment, both that which restrains you and the total collapse of what you have leaving you, well, buried underneath and that's what lead me to assign it to Riddle
I was thinking about how his overblot went, the basis of which being the confines his mother put onto him, the crushing weight of expectations that even while he welcomes it still traps and threatens to bury him, how his overblot happened after his rule of heartslabyul and everything else associated with it "collapsed" on him so to speak like a whole house falling in on itself after it's ceiling breaks with him underneath his beloved rubble
It's not quite that there's something keeping him inside a coffin he can't escape from, It's moreso a shaky building he refuses to leave because there's all his stuff in it
Ace and the Eye: Regret to inform you I was a little stumped by Ace too so the Eye has reasoning, but it's a little more flimsy, mostly it's just because of how direct he is, he's straightforward, he calls it how he sees it
Even though he got collared in book one he just has to speak out, it's not necessarily a search for knowledge here, it's the need for him to get the knowledge out into the open, he might not be above lying, but fuck knows he won't accept anyone else beating around the bush, the situation is being laid bare wether that's a safe decision or not
He has a need to butt in
Jack and the Lonely: Jack is a literal lone wolf, it's going a bit too hard into my own interpretation maybe, but where he lives there aren't all that many other beastmen in the first place, a first barrier of seperation, this changes when he enters Savannaclaw where his very idol is, but still no one there acts like him, he downright dissaproves of the way they act in trying to achieve their goals
Jack is about self betterment and effort and honesty too, a lot of NCR is very much not in that way, but while Jack strives to improve himself he does so in a way that is self-contained
And it's not like he doesn't want a worthy opponent or doesn't want other people to better themselves too, he wants to compete fairly, honestly and openly, but a fair competition is still a competition, the competitor is someone to be beaten
I feel like the reason I put him into the Hunt is closely tied to why I put him into the Lonely
In a dog-eat-dog world there is no pack
His pursuit of improvement isolates him in the way that he's rigidly himself in a place where no one else is like that and in his focus on betterment no one elseis taken along
Vil and the Buried/the Flesh: I actually considered the Stranger for Vil too by the way, I got into the Buried on Riddles part already so that should be kept in mind, Vil has an extraordinary amount of control over himself because he cannot let go
Vil is seemingly tied to the eternal fate of being the villain, it's something he can't shake or escape, something that traps him and will simply not let go
In his life people have been trying to force him into a box since childhood so why not try to do so literally
As for the Flesh, there's the aspect of the physical molding of the body which Vil does, there's his concern with his appearance, worry over it turning into something it shouldn't be
There's also the aspect of consumption, there is the eat or be eaten way to realize you are but meat, lots of that, but what is a celebrities job if not to offer themselves to the public, to everyone around them for the pourpose of entertainment
Vil is in many ways authentic to himself and in many he is also not, at the end of the day he currates what of himself is good and what not and gives it for the world to consume, he as a person is also a product to be molded into maybe the best, but definetly the most appealing version of himself ready to be picked apart like a slaughtered cow, ready for the butcher to present in the window
You are but meat and your pourpose is to be the best meal you can be to those at the table
Idia and the End/the Desolation/the Extinction: I did pick these because of Idia's connection to death and world desctruction, but mainly because he is so very haunted by them
Death is inescapable, he has seen it, has been closer to it than most, has his heels licked constantly by the threat of the desctruction of what he loves and he knows that, he expects it even when it isn't technically there in the moment
Inevitable hurt and death are looming over him, the promise of something bad happening is constant, something ending abruptly, without reason or warning simply bound to be by fate
Can you tell I considered him for the Buried too? He's also a little literally buried under the ocean
Idia as a person has been touched by death in every sense of the word, he's the underwolds newest little guy to swallow whole, he's getting desctruction and the threat of it thrown into his face by the fates like a baseball, he cannot escape the loss he has suffered
And he ties himself to it too, he's "bad luck" or he's "cursed", it's made into something that is not simply happening to him but is an intrinsic unshakeable part of himself as a person, in his mind he's the very reason the bad things are happening around him, they're literally him, he can't shake them off he's covered with it, to himself he has become synonymous with death and suffering, he's one with it and it colors his thoughts and actions
Sebek and the Vast: In comparison to who he serves Sebek is small and Malleus is most of his world, their seperate entities tie into each other here, where Sebek sees the wide open space, Malleus is what lurks within it
I wanted to put (The Dark by association) behind him, much like with the Tweels and the Web
But yeah, Sebek when compared to the rest of Diasomnia is pretty much just some guy and he's so ready to act for everyone who actually holds a position to him like he doesn't really have a life of his own going on, his universe revolves around someone else
He wants to please and wants approval badly, his grandfather was a royal guard and he's half human even, he's insignificant in comparison to what surrounds him, it's all bigger than him, he's a little speck against the person he should be protecting and he accepts that so readily
He can't fill the vastness of the world he's in, but he can help someone bigger than him and that's all he can do in the face of so much
There we go, thank you for reading o7
Your brain is colossally huge I am going insane
Aaaaugh yeah you have banger points in here, no notes these are really good
I do find it so fun that so many of the fears can be attributed to these characters. Like. They’re not ok lmao
