Ok first Im gonna split it into the batfam and who their fave member of the holograms would be, and then I’m gonna split into fave character overall.

Alfred-Aja: OK HEAR ME OUT: I think that he’d appreciate Aja’s tough but polite thing going on. She’s never rlly the first to start a fight but she’s also not soft on others and will call bullshit out when she sees it. From what I can remember she’s a very stable presence in the group, if not the rock of it, and I think he’d like that l.

Bruce-Jem: Listen I KNOW it’s cliche but c’mon?? The double identity, the relationship issues, the dead parents; it all hits for him. And the plane episode made him break into full blown out sobs. I think his fave songs would be can’t get my love together and everybody wears a mask.

Dick-Shana: I think Shana would be Dick’s favorite because of her arc where she left the band to pursue her career. I think the fact that she WAS jealous of the new drummer but her feelings were validated and still loved her new profession and found a way to do both in a way that benefited her with the help of her friends would make him ugly cry. His fave songs would prolly be Like a Dream and I believe in Happy endings.

Jason-Roxy: The reading episode could honestly say it all, but I also think the way Roxy IS insecure in the Misfits and defends her place with the “I deserve it I’m a REAL misfit” attitude when Jetta is introduced would hit him hard. His fave songs would prolly be it takes a lot, nightmare, and congratulations.

Cass-Stormer: LISTEN LISTEN I think she’d enjoy how Stormer is kind and ultimately acts for the greater good but is still very much a misfit at heart. Even in the breaking of the bands, Stormer goes for an insult first and makes her demands to the misfits and she’s absolutely firm with it. Her leaving in the first place was out of love and respect for herself. I also think she’d like Pizzaz’s attitude lol. Her fave songs would be who is he kissing, midsommers night madness, and making mischief.

Steph-Jetta: Her parents were absolutely shitty to her and she came out strong. Whenever she was disrespected she actually swung (even physically in her debut) back 10X harder. Roxy questioned her spot on the team and Jetta was ready to defend it immediately, despite her just getting it. She was a misfit and she knew it, Fuck what anyone else says even if it’s a senior misfit. I think Steph would actually admire that attitude and she’d wish she could’ve channeled it when Bruce and Tim were being absolute assholes to her. Like even though she did talk back she still Bruce be the ultimate authority and took what tim said to heart and Jetta would never take it lying down. She hates clash bc of her desperate attitude and a small part of her mind feels like everyone thinks that’s her. She’s right (that they think that) and it’s terrible :( Her fave songs would be I am a giant, there aint nobody better, and take a hike Jack.

Tim- Pizzazz: LISTEN! I think it’s be another admiration thing. I thing he’d really fuck with her attitude and the way she’s not afraid to take what she believes is hers? Like not in an evil way or whatever but he was rolling his eyes whenever the Holograms just so happened to get offered XYZ for being in the right place at the right time. The misfits are lowk right! Sometimes you have to set things in motion for yourself and if that requires a little bit of murderous intent…so? Seriously tho I think he’d relate to her issues with her dad but I also think he wouldnt take it that seriously. Like pre Jack trying to connect with him more, I don’t think he took the absence that deep so when he sees pizzazz it’s more of “look at u doing all this and u don’t even fw horses I’d take the money tbh 🙄” the entire family is sideyeing tf outta him. His fave songs would be scandal, gimme a gimmick, and there’s a melody playing.

Duke-Raya/Jetta; NOT JUST BC THEYRE NEW I think he’d find raya’d relationship with her dad super sweet and he’d relate to how she felt being the new kid on the block. Stuff like when she first fully interacted with the misfits and didn’t really get the big history between them and the holograms, or other moments where past stories are talked about that she doesn’t fully get would prolly hit hard. I think the scene where she realized Jem was Jerrica and was terrified but also completely willing to help hide her secret immediately just screams Duke finding out about Bruce and Batman. And he thought it was funny when she ripped the flower out of Jetta’s hair. Speaking of I think his would be less of an admiration thing with Steph and more if ‘she is me’ thing. Like idk Duke being an awful flirt and getting into a fistfight is screaming equal opposite to Jetta lying about being royalty like honestly it’s less that he likes Jetta and more that he knows she’s him and he’s her and they’re eachother. fave songs would be who is he kissing, I like your style, and it could be you.

Damian-Minx: LISTEN! I think he’d relate to Pizzazz a lot but as much as I hate to say it, Pizazz’s very valid feelings about her father and his lack of relationship with her were very much played as a joke in the show and I think Damian would feel pathetic for relating to her like that. Like I think post therapy Damian would openly love pizzazz but for now? Minx. The thing with the Minx is that she TRIED the whole being nice thing and nobody believed her. They thought it was weird or fake and only started to trust her later on. But that’s not the appeal of it, the appeal is that Minx went back to being bitchy and had a real support group there. It’s not that Damian wants to be the way he was, God forbid, but the fact that she did and had people who not only accepted her but were ecstatic to have her back? The fact that they weren’t glad she ‘reverted’ because they wanted to use her for anything but because she was their friend and they knew her? He ugly cries about it to this day. His fave songs would be who is she, destiny, and get outta my way.

A promise to myself is still a promise! I told myself that if The Breath Mints. won the finals that I would finally get around to drawing myself a blaseball oc. The bat is now up at bat! She doesn’t have a name yet, but here’s my baby!

I think some of my critique of the representation of poc, especially the Black characters, in Arcane would be reduced if Vi, Jinx, and Viktor were racebent. Again, poc ought to have roles where they aren’t suffering and are in powerful positions, but in a story like this with themes of classism and systematic oppression, to have almost all the characters of color be a part of the privileged class, cops, or working for an antagonistic white guy and then have the marginalized characters with the most screen time be white isn’t great, even though a lot of them are written with nuance in other ways like Mel and Sevika who I like a lot. Mel is a foreigner which I think adds some nuance to her character in general and in this specific context, but it’s still complicated given the imperialistic history of her family. I will say she stands out as her own character and not just support to Jayce’s narrative, which is important.

Ekko is a great character who doesn’t fall into any of those three roles, but he hasn’t been given the same amount of screen time characters like Vi, Jinx, and Viktor have and they’re the ones who speak the most, or have the most screen time to do so, about the issues the Undercity and its people face. Vi and Jinx, both as individuals and their relationship, are also the center of the story. Given what Jinx specifically represents in the narrative, as a significant product of Piltover’s failings, especially in the end of the season, it would be a more powerful message if she was racebent. Like, to have Silco refuse to give her up would’ve been more impactful if she was a woman of color instead of a white woman, because white women get to be prioritized and made into exceptions all the time. It would also make the scenes where Sevika gets beat up by Vi and Jinx, and I mostly refer to the part where Jinx displays her beat up body to send a message to Silco in his office, WAY less uncomfortable to watch for me because we’re made to root for Vi and Jinx.

In terms of Viktor, having him be the only one from Zaun in Piltover speaking to these issues when the council has, otherwise mostly white or non-human characters, but two dark skinned black women in it, rubs me the wrong way. Sky, a Black woman, is also fridged for some of his character development in act 3. There’s also fandom racism towards Mel's character because she’s a Black woman that gets in the way of a white mlm ship (If you like Viktor and Jayce because their dynamic is genuinely interesting and not because of racism/antiblackness you know who you are and won’t feel personally attacked by this). I personally like both Mel and Viktor and their dynamics with Jayce, but enjoying their characters is hard sometimes because of things like this that can clog the tags. 

Of course, these characters are based on a game so there’ll be people who say the show runners couldn’t just racebend characters that already exist, as though that hasn’t happened before in media and the show itself isn’t already diverging from previous canon in other ways. Also within Arcane itself, Caitlyn is shown to be Chinese and white based off of her voice actress and how her father looks and I seriously doubt that was canon before. But Caitlyn is more white passing/not very different from her original design so I haven’t seen, to my knowledge, people saying any negative things about that. Given that Hailee Steinfield’s maternal grandfather is Black and Filipino, I personally like the idea of Vi and Jinx being Black and Filipina as well. I don’t have a particular headcanon for what I’d racebend Viktor to be tho. 

I think I might also include Vander in this because it’d be nice if Vi and Jinx’s adoptive dad, who’s a liked figure in The Lanes and has had a huge impact on their lives, was also a poc. I’d probably keep Silco white, not because he’s antagonistic but because poor white people exist and I don’t have a problem with him and other notable characters from Zaun, with various moral alignments, like Benzo, Mylo, Claggor, and that lady Silco was allied with being white. I won’t pretend that there aren’t poc who are cops in real life either, but to have Vi and Jinx be racebent and visibly darker than Grayson, Marcus and Caitlyn would help make the juxtaposition of those characters together a bit less sketchy, at least to me. 

The way poc, and Black people specifically, are presented on this show is a complex discussion and I’m just one Black woman talking about this, but these are just some of my thoughts on the matter as of right now. There’s a lot of things I like about Arcane and it’s writing which is why I’m invested in the show. I just think tweaks like this could make an already nuanced and fleshed out story, richer.

I’ve decided to put my answers under a cut because they’ve gotten Long and I don’t want to clog up people’s dashes who may not be interested. If you want to hear me ramble about songs and characters I’m currently obsessed with--read on!!

1. Lost by Dermot Kennedy

“When everything was broken The devil hit his second stride But you remember what I told you Someday, I'll need your spine to hide behind For fear of moments stolen I don't wanna say goodnight But I'll still see you in the morning Still know your heart and still know both your eyes”

Look at that first verse and tell me that’s not Narvin in the Time War. I dare you. Either way, I won’t listen, because I have decided that it is A Narvin Song and I shall never be convinced otherwise.

One thing that especially gets me is this line: “for fear of moments stolen / I don’t wanna say goodnight”. It calls to my mind one of the most terrifying aspects of the Time War imo: never knowing when someone you love could be completely erased from existence and you’d never know they were gone. For whatever reason it was never even mentioned in the Time War arc (which I personally think was a huge missed opportunity, but also I guess they didn’t have time to try fitting another thing into the space they had).

And then these lines: “But if only you could see yourself in my eyes / You'd see you shine, you shine” could totally be Narvin talking about either Leela or Romana.

2. What Have I Done by Dermot Kennedy

another Narvin song hehehe. can anyone guess which character I’ve been having a lot of feelings about lately???

This one is specifically a Narvin/Leela song--the constant questioning, the way the narrator seems slightly afraid of the feelings they’ve discovered, but at the same time is determined to hold on and do the best they can (”Just be, I wanna get it right for once”).

The lines “Never thought I needed saving / I was right where I should be / Good God, I know it's dangerous / But it's you that I need” make me think of Narvin’s perceived security at the beginning of Gallifrey--he’s risen to the top of the CIA, he’s right where he’s always wanted to be and where he felt he belonged, and he knows how the universe works and what his place in it is. And then he has his entire worldview and everything he ever believed in shattered to pieces in front of him, and he rebuilds himself and his outlook of the universe alongside Romana and Leela, only to discover in shock at some point that he’s put those two at the center of it all.

And then: “Ever since the other night / I've been thinking 'bout the way you smile golden” do I even need to say it but THAT ONE MOMENT IN ERASURE???

3. Orpheus by Sara Bareilles

This one actually is just a song I legitimately like aside from associations with characters and stories, and while it does vibe with some of my favs, I struggled for a long time to figure out exactly who it works best for? Mostly I just think the tune is super pretty.

I guess it does kinda vibe with the Gally Gang in general (specifically the Trio--Romana, Leela, and Narvin), and also I think it fits Nick Beasley and Cordelia Beaumont from the Afterverse books? (especially the second half of the first verse reminds me of how Nick’s entire understanding of the world gets completely flipped on its head in the first book and how he has to cope with that as the series goes on, while I think the line “I hope my love was someone else’s solid ground” fits Cordelia really well)

4. Wreck of a Ship by Tide Lines

existential-angsty folk music my beloved!!

This song is just.... ahhhh. I can’t entirely describe how it makes me feel, except to say that it makes me feel kind of sad in a good way?

“Now I sing with my eyes wide open Because I can’t bear to close them these days And I’ve got nothing here left to remind me I’m a wreck of a ship tossed on the waves”

It’s mournful and has no small degree of yearning and reminds me of a lonely chilly night with bright city lights at your back and nothing but the expanse of a sky full of stars above you and a distant forest at the end of a long winding empty road. It reminds me of both the Twelfth Doctor (sometime around the point of s10) and Narvin (in my headcanons of what happens for him post TW4 👀).

Also I definitely want to use the line “pull my heart across the forest” as a fic title at some point.

Em.... you’re far from irrelevant. Part of the lack of interaction comes from your reqs being closed. Partly because you’re not.... the most approachable. Like you’re kind and lovely. But you don’t shitpost or post often so it’s like... why interact if you.... won’t respond? It’s fine!! We don’t mind!! It’s just... that’s my best guess as to why interactions are down while your followers number is still climbing. And idk about everyone else but for me... the Oikawa Kinktober piece was posted mid-thanksgiving dinner. And idk about your experience.... but at least for me... Tumblr isn’t kind to pieces that don’t get a fair amount of likes and reblogs within the first hour or two.

My point is: I still adore you and your writing. So I don’t think you’re irrelevant. And I just hope you’re caring for yourself! (Also I’ve missed your writings for Oikawa. I adore the way you write him. Can’t wait to see that proposal piece!! Cos I’m a sucker for that shit!!)!

yeah most of the asks i ever got were requests, so now that i’m not taking them i really get the fraction of the asks i used to get. and ur right ;-; maybe i should shitpost more but it just doesnt feel like the place?? idk i dont want my blog to be even more clogged than it already is with posts that aren’t writing or about writing/haikyuu, and i feel a bit weird making personal posts here like idk how much i want to share with this many people lmao!!! but maybe it would make me seem more friendly.....then again i’m really not talkative at all so there’s no reason to make myself seem like a person im not ashgfdsdkj

my insecurities really dont come from notes tho! honestly ive never cared about the notes my writing gets so like, i genuinely can’t tell you if they get more or less now than they did a year ago. i really only check a few fics to see how many notes they’ve gotten (which r my biggest fics, i like seeing the number grow jfdsjfkabf) so thats why i never post fics at Optimal Times lmao, bc i dont even know what those times r lmao. mainly ive just noticed a significant decrease in interaction, like with asks or tags on rbs, idk there are a lot of factors that contribute to that but a lot of other blogs have reached out and told me they’ve been experiencing the same thing so! yeah!

Holding Out For More Than What I Have Now

Roman sits at his desk, his back hunched as he stares blankly at the page before him. He just… cant get anything to happen. It isn’t writers block. He’s dealt with writer’s block before. He goes out to fight monsters, plays through safe ideas he’s gone through a hundred times before. He could force himself to write something, knowing it would be bad. There are a hundred different solutions he’s used, that Logan had helped him to find. Some of his attempts were more successful than others, but this…

He feels empty. Like everything inside him is simply gone. Shrivelled up and burned away. He knows it isn’t writers block, because there’s nothing to block. It isn’t a clogged dam it’s… it’s an empty river. dried up and left barren by the hot sun and weeks of no rain. No, months maybe. This has been happening for longer than he’d like to admit. He had always managed to scrape by, pulling from the scraps left over, hoping that he could hold out while he waits for the rain. But here he is, still waiting. And dying of thirst.

He isn’t sure how long he stares at the blank sheet. Minutes? Hours? He wants to will himself to do something. anything at all. A single line on the page. But even as he thinks about moving his arm he’s tired. He just… doesn’t have the energy.

His only real passage of time is measured by his growing hunger. His eyelids drooping further than they were when he started. He can’t get up though. not to crawl into bed, not to get food. Not to call for help. He’s not sure he even wants to do any of those things. Surely if he has that kind of energy, the energy to do those kinds of things, he should be using that energy to help Thomas? To generate ideas. It’s his only function after all.

Logan has his logic, Janus has his lies. Roman has his ideas. Had his ideas anyway.

Roman wonders what happens to him if he runs out of creativity. Will he fade away? Will that be it for Thomas’ creativity? Will something- someone else take his place? Maybe he’ll just be left with Remus.

He shudders at the thought. But… but maybe Thomas would be fine. He thinks back to the way people had reacted to his brother’s appearance. The interest, the energy and bounce that Remus had brought. The excitement that Roman hadn’t been able to summon in so long. Remus has it in bucket-fulls.

Besides, how much better was Roman really?

He’s reminded again of the endless passage of time by a knock at his door. He squeezes his eyes shut. Patton again. He wonders how long it will take for him to give up on Roman entirely. He won’t come in, Roman rests secure in that knowledge at least. Patton will assume he’s asleep and he’ll walk away. Or maybe he just stops caring at some point. Maybe he leaves food on the doorstep; he’s seen him doing it for Janus sometimes.

The knocking gets louder, more insistent, and Roman suppresses a scream. He just wants them to stop. Wants to rest. Wants to lie down and never get up again.

The door opens, and Roman prickles in surprise. His breath catches, and his body gives him just enough energy to look up at the door. He sees the shape of Janus silhouetted with lights from behind. Roman realises it’s become dark in his room. When did that happen? He’s sure it was light when he started.

“Roman,” Janus’ voice is dry and humourless, but when Roman tries to attribute any feelings or intentions to it, his head just hurts from the effort. Janus is the last person he wants to deal with.

He manages to muster a “go away”, but he can’t put any real force behind it. just like everything else, it feels empty.

“You need help,” Janus says. That wasn’t exactly what Roman expected, but he finds himself hard pressed to disagree. “And you need rest, you’ve been working too hard.”

Despite everything, a small laugh escapes Roman. “I’ve not done anything,” he says. “That’s the problem.”

Janus huffs a small breath. A laugh? A sigh? “Yes, running yourself into the ground isn’t anything at all,” he mutters, and Roman can’t be sure whether or not he was supposed to hear that. “Are you able to get into bed?” he asks, catching Roman off guard again.

“Excuse me?”

“Bed. You need rest. You know I love saying things twice. Please ask for a third.” he shoots Roman a glare then adds on; “If you can’t get up, I’ll carry you.” Roman feels the heat flooding to his face, and remains silent. What’s he supposed to do? Admit to the side who probably hates him to most that he’s been sat at his desk for presumably hours unable to move or do anything at all? Let Deceit announce to the whole world his weakness?

Janus seems to take his silence as an answer. “I’m going to pick you up now,” he says, moving forwards. Roman finds himself unable to object, and as Janus’ arms wrap around him, he’s surprised by the strength. It feels safe. His head rests against Janus’ chest, and sparks shoot through his skin, and he shivers to the touch. He’s not sure is it’s terrifying or comforting. Does it have to be just one?

Guiltily, he leans into the touch. He isn’t sure how much pride he even has to lose anymore.

“Janus, why are you here? Why are you helping me?” The question slips out, suddenly urgent. Why Janus of all people? Why would he help him, when they’ve both made their stances perfectly clear. What is Roman missing?

There’s a moment of pause, as Janus looks at him, and Roman can’t help but feel like his soul is bared before him.

“Because I care about you Roman,” Janus whispers. Roman’s breath catches. Janus’ voice is gentler than in the courtroom. Gone is the performative declarations and teasing, just… this. The quiet room around them as Roman clings pathetically to Janus’ shirt, dreading the moment they reach the bed. “You’re an important part of Thomas. And we need you here.”

“Oh,” Roman says, looking away. He doesn’t know what to do with that. He thinks of every time he was rude to Janus, all of the jabs and harsh words over the past few months. 1. Why did you choose your url?

Honestly? I’m terrible at making usernames. Like horrendous. I’m always lost as to what to make it. So I made it in a split decision based off things I was thinking about or doing that day. My favorite color is purple, I had an inside joke with a friend about llamas, and at the time was watching terminator 2 judgement day. So I combined it all. 😂

This is actually my side blog. @the-iron-tator is my main but I don’t do much on or with it! I probably honestly should’ve made side blogs for my different fandoms cause I know people only follow me for certain things, but it’s too much to keep up for me 🤷‍♀️

I honestly have no idea. If there’s a way to figure that out, I’m not sure how 😂 it’s been awhile tho. I wanna say I had this side blog since the beginning of 2019 cause I made it specifically to post my fanfic. But I had the main for way longer I think.

So I started this side blog specifically so I could write and post my fanfic without shame. Also so that it could be a feed for all the fanfic I found and loved reading on here. Another reason why I never made another side blog. Cause I wanted all my fandom stuff on one page for me.

Because The Little Mermaid has been and will always be my favorite Disney movie.

I really have no actual answer for this 😂 I was making the side blog and realized I needed one and so that’s what was on my camera roll for some reason 😅 and it made me nostalgic for when I was younger 😂

Or rather, this is a fandom blog. No one wants to see that clogging up the page when all you wanna do is reason some fanfic or look at some fanart. I like to keep that kind of stuff off. Also cause sometimes people don’t agree with you. But I never liked that. That if you don’t ‘reblog a post’ your an ass or something. Like no. If anything, that steers people away from what you want. Or similar to the posts where they are like, don’t even talk to me if you like x,y, or z. Like okay 🤷‍♀️ that doesn’t hurt anybody but you. 😂 sometimes, even if I agree that I don’t like x, y, or z, I’ll unfollow or stay away because that just gives a certain attitude that I don’t vibe with. Events dedicated only to chubby readers, female characters, lgbt+ content and less popular characters: the enthusiasm I received in tags under content where I only mentioned it and amount of comments my wlw Kiku scenario gathered definitely shows there’s a huge interest in those topics. Not sure when (well, rather not this year, I am clogged xD) and how but I want to do this!

Definitely more short headcanon games. I had no idea they will be so loved but they also help me to brainstorm ideas for various characters, so it’s a win-win on both sides.

Even if they don’t receive such attention comparing to amount of work put into it, I think I want to try my hand in multichapter fics. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone but opchickpea and misc-headcanons doing this?
