Hundreds of girls and women were brutally murdered by H@mas terrorists and their collaborators on October 7th. Dozens of women were raped and tortured. Look in their eyes and think of them on this #internationalwomensday. Don’t forget our sisters and the unspeakable gender-based violence they have suffered. #Remember710 #hamasisisis

I'm always surprised every time I'm reminded that March 8th is officially called by the UN "International Women's Day", because in France we call it "International Women's Rights Day" instead, which I think makes a lot more sense.
Anyway! Happy International Women's Rights Day everyone!
#i mean most people in france call it international women's day#but the official name is women's rights#that's the name associations and state powers use#and i'm one of the annoying people who corrects everyone when they use the wrong term#because it's not a day to celebrate women#it's a day to celebrate the rights we've acquired and to keep fighting for equality

International Women's Day 2024: International Women's Day on 8 March
For more than 100 years, women around the world have been taking to the streets on International Women's Day for more women's rights and equality.
And I admire that, but the way the world looks now, they will have to take to the streets for another 200 years to fight for equality.
The current backward-looking attitude of some social groups towards the alleged good old days must be disenchanted by all of us by any means necessary.
There was no good old days at all
A real man is a feminist who doesn't understand the issue of equality is ignorant of the challenges that we can only solve together.

Have been thinking for the past few days re: a post I was reading and I'd really like to know if there's any specifically Nayar feminist work that's been done, (1) because I think that could be really interesting if it was written by actual Nayars and (2) there's just so much feminist work which I really struggle with since a lot of those things they discuss, while they are major critiques and important to raise for many situations, assume that things have been one way for everyone, particularly materially, and I'd like a discussion from a Nayar perspective that addresses other things without stemming from that assumption. In particular with nuances of caste because I think that's a very important part of the discussion to have, but also because the way that patriarchal structures do and don't play out in Nayar society is very different from many other cultural backgrounds, and I'd just appreciate reading something that doesn't automatically assume that xyz thing is true for everyone and their ancestors.
#i do have a funky relationship with feminism but that is largely mainstream american feminism whose discourses were#forced on me as a kid in a way that felt very bioessentialist and made me very uncomfortable#i appreciate catalan and spanish feminism because it does i think a better job of combining queer + feminist fronts into one fight#same with many other non-american feminisms although there are definitely european feminisms that also feel uncomfy#idk. i don't think i'm qualified to have thoughts on this given the level of connectedness with nayar culture i have#but it's deeply frustrating to constantly see people making statements about the material conditions of women in the past#and not realize that some people have historically and continue to have women as the primary homeowners and able to divorce and such#but also i don't want to romanticize that idk. i want a useful framework to think about things in so that i don't have to#be constantly resorting to arguments that don't fit#i wrote a whole thing on international women's day about this and then i think i lost it but it's so complicated and i'd just like#to be able to think about it complicatedly if you know what i mean#perce rambles#not sure if this makes any sense

Just watched the penultimate episode of Buffy and there's just no way that cliffhanger is going to be resolved in a way that isn't incredibly tedious
#original#buffy the vampire slayer#end of days#this is why that one post about how infidelity and love triangles are key to compelling story was one of the most mystifying things I've#ever read#it's cheap drama in that you can drop it into anything and have it take up screen time instead of anything interesting or unique#completely different show but man imagine if the time dark spent on Man With Wrong Women had instead shown us what the characters about#[spoilers]#like what does bartolz think about his ultimate fate? we never know#but damn he sure does fight jonas over martha#anyway i didn't want andrew's arc to become my favorite part of this season but it did#because an insufferable nerd internalizing the fact that he actually is a real person is interesting and#dare I say it#relateable

i’ve been seeing a lot of trans discourse too and idk where it’s coming from!! i think tma stands for “trans misogyny applicable” which i’ve seen most people use to just refer to trans women and transfems?? and tme stands for “trans misogyny exempt” which i’ve seen a lot of people use to refer to transmasc people and cis people which i don’t understand?? aren’t all trans people vulnerable to transmisogyny?? i don’t get it ;-;
yeah they are but if trans women want to have specific words for their specific experiences that’s fine honestly, i do feel like they’re absolutely uniquely vulnerable within the queer community and often the target of prejudice by even other queers
the intricate levels of discourse going on about it are beyond my understanding though, probably because i’m just not very knowledgeable on the subject
#not sure if i would Want to be either but honestly im tired of seeing trans women slapped down for no fucking reason#but also internet fights scare me#could you guys just leave women alone. its international womens day. come on now

today is a good day to remember, that we should acknowledge and educate ourselves about the struggles and experience of all women around the world, not just the ones living in generally western liberal democracies, not just the ones living in times of peace, not just the ones with white skin, not just the ones who are neurotypical and able-bodied, not just the ones fulfilling the beauty standards, not just the ones who are straight and most importantly not just the ones living in afab bodies ♡
learning about women's stories and experiences is important and necessary for us to understand the world and make it a better place, without common understanding we will stand devided as well as will the world
happy international women's day!
may we one day in the future destroy the patriarchy and stand united ♡
#international women's day#love to all of the diverse women in my life#you are so important to me and i will fight for you whatever it takes#i really hope i am not excluding anyone but if it is the case i sincerely apologize
