MDZS x Brazil (1985)
(Yes. Real movie dialogue)
#poorly drawn mdzs#mdzs#MDZS AU#lan wangji#wei wuxian#Backstory to this is 'we recently watched Brazil (1985) and this scene make us lose our minds.'#Brazil (1985) is best described as 'The Monty Python Crew does an adaptation of George Orwell's 1984 (1949).' Because it is.#And let me just say. I think it is the perfect adaptation. Somehow this film manages to be one of the best dystopia satires out there#While also being a genuine critique of capitalism and burocracy.#Plus the practical effects and set design were outstanding.#The 'romance' in this movie was definitely also a satire.#It is unbelievably wacky. I'm dead serious when I say this comic is beat for beat something that happens in the film#Guy who told this women *nothing* about the peril she's in form the government tells her he (legally) killed her.#She responds by saying “Care for a little necrophilia?” with NO ROMANTIC LEAD UP.#THE MUSIC SWELLS. HE TEARS OFF HIS JACKET AND DIVES INTO THE BED. SCENE END.#Jill Leyton has incredible range as a hot butch and hot femme. Was the line bizarre? Yes. She can pull it off though.#We paused and watched it back a few times. I wasn't intending to make a crossover this obscure but honestly...#It's...it's too good of a fit to pass up. Wei Wuxian *would* say that...

One more time… Merlin didn’t owe anyone his secrets. No one was entitled to them, not even Gwaine. It’s like, actually bizarre that you will all call magic a gay metaphor and then die on the hill that he’s sadistic if he doesn’t tell anyone, as if it’s “harmful” to others if he keeps it a secret when he actively lives in a place where he will be killed for it. You are all embarrassingly susceptible to right winger anti-lgbtq logic and only surface level pro-gay. Except it’s ultimately a metaphor for religious persecution so uhh anyways… bite a brick
#you know in Love Simon how they treat it like a bad thing that he didn’t come out to that one girl cause he was ‘leading her on’ —#a phrase usually reserved for women who aren’t interested when a man wants to guilt-trip her into sex…#that’s how you all act#you act like that author + scriptwriters who thought that was a good idea#no one is entitled to another person’s body or private life or labor especially when they’re under the threat of *genocide*#ur all stupid 💀💀💀#painfully so#fandom critical#merlin emrys#bbc merlin#merlin meta#my meta

in a world filled with books written by male authors that make me go "uhhhhh this writer does Not have a good outlook on masculinity and women, this was definitely written by a man", the Chaos Walking trilogy stands as a complete opposite where I spent the entire series being like "WOW I never really thought about masculinity in this way, WOW this is painting a really interesting picture of gender dynamics and generational relationships, this was definitely written by a man"
#whenever discussion on manly male book things like rape and toxic masculinity pops up i am like. cw did it and did it well.#you CAN write a lead who makes up excuses for why he participates in a system that oppresses women!!! you CAN write about a dude falling#into the spiral of toxic masculine approval!!! you CAN give him horrible role models!! i am not opposed to that!!!#but you can't do it if part of you worships those ideals and doesn't really like women all that much. patrick ness on the other hand gets i#chaos walking liveblog#every spring i think of my kids idek why. i am still too traumatized to reread. or am i <3

I need people to stop bringing up Cait’s cut off apology as a show of her being genuinely remorseful for her actions against Vi because now we’re just making stuff up. If she was allowed to continue her apology, she could’ve said any number of things—doubled down on her decision, chalked it up to grief or trauma, spin it back on Vi—which would’ve been very interesting to watch play out, mind you, but we’ll never know.
And what does it say about Cait’s character that she led her apology with banging Maddie and not the more serious physical abuse she inflicted on her? What does it say about Cait that, instead of stopping Vi and continuing her apology, allowed her pussy to get ate? This is not a mark against the show, actually, I think it’s very interesting that Cait is as selfish as she is, whether the writer’s intended her to be that way or not.
#wouldn’t call this criticism just me slandering Ms kiramman#and I do think it’s funny that this privileged rich girl who pretends like she has upstanding morals cant stop fucking women#leads with her pussy not her words#arcane#caitlyn kiramman#vi arcane

Mind you people say Kanye is acting out to this very day cause he lost his mom years and years ago. Megan hasn’t even gotten a fraction of that grace!
everyone cares about mental health when it comes to Kanye and excuses his antics. You can find articles about his guilt surrounding her death in 2023!!!
but Meg must take full personal responsibility regardless. Megan lost her mom even younger than he did. We don’t see black women as human.
#❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️#This whole case had me changing my opinions and views(at least for the moment)#celebrating the police and the system#being xenophobic towards Canadian people#posting stories with reader plus white celebrities with fluffy or smutty material#nearly being racist towards black men#saying that some of them nigcels deserved to be another hashtag#and backing the death penalty.#megan thee stallion#i’m not sad for her#i’m outraged#i’m just glad she’s in a better place now#those people can speak for themselves they know who they are#and they can go straight to hell#they will pay for their crimes#for sucking that abusers meat#Instagram#As always a loud and sincere fuck you to everyone who has doubted her and supported that Canadian cuntery who must not be named#She went through unnecessary trauma for two years#That’s unforgivable#Next level fuckery#That that type of ish that would lead to an episode of snapped or deadly women#once again#🖕🏿daystar Peterson#annnnn boom#just like that#may all who come against black women rot#Don’t fuck with black women#If you can’t love them then at least don’t harm them#can’t wait to see that sociopath locked up on August 7th.

the pathologic Kin is largely fictionalized with a created language that takes from multiple sources to be its own, a cosmogony & spirituality that does not correlate to the faiths (mostly Tengrist & Buddhist) practiced by the peoples it takes inspirations from, has customs, mores and roles invented for the purposes of the game, and even just a style of dress that does not resemble any of these peoples', but it is fascinating looking into specifically to me the sigils and see where they come from... watch this:
P2 Layers glyphs take from the mongolian script:
while the in-game words for Blood, Bones and Nerves are mongolian directly, it is interesting to note that their glyphs do not have a phonetic affiliation to the words (ex. the "Yas" layer of Bones having for glyph the equivalent of the letter F, the "Medrel" layer of Nerves having a glyph the equivalent of the letter È,...)
the leatherworks on the Kayura models', with their uses of angles and extending lines, remind me of the Phags Pa Script (used for Tibetan, Mongolian, Chineses, Uyghur language, and others)
some of the sigils also look either in part or fully inspired by Phags Pa script letters...
some look closer to the mongolian or vagindra (buryat) script
looking at the Herb Brides & their concept art, we can see bodypainting that looks like vertical buryat or mongolian script (oh hi (crossed out: Mark) Phags Pa script):
shaped and reshaped...
#not sure how much. what's the word. bond? involvement? not experience. closeness? anyone in the team has with any of these cultures#but i recall learning lead writer is indigenous in some way & heavily self-inserts as artemy [like. That's His Face used for#the p1 burakh portrait] so i imagine There Is some knowledge; if not first-hand at least in some other way#& i'm not in the team so i don't know how much Whatever is put into Anything#[ + i've ranted about the treatment of the brides Enough. enough i have]#so i don't have any ground to stand on wrt how i would feel about how these cultures are handled to make the Kin somewhat-hodgepodge.#there is recognizing it is Obviously inspired by real-life cultures [with the words;the alphabet;i look at Kayura i know what i see]#& recognizing it Also is. obviously and greatly imagined. not that weird for you know. a story.#like there is No Turkic/Altaic/Mongolic culture that has a caste of all-women spiritual dancers who place a great importance on nudity#as a reflection of the perfect world and do nothing but dance to bring about the harvest. ykwim...#like neither the Mongols nor the Buryats nor the Tibetans dress the way the Kin does. that's cos the Kin is invented. but they're invented.#.. on wide fundations. ykwim......#Tengrism has a Sky Deity (Tengri) with an earth-goddess *daughter* whereas the kin worship an Earth-Goddess mother of everything#+ a huge bull. Buddhism has its own complete cosmogony & beliefs which from the little I know Vastly Differ from anything the Kin believes#like. yeah. story. but also. [holds myself back from renting about the Brides again] shhh...#neigh (blabbers)#pathologic#pathologic 2

Patalliro! is fascinating to me because of stuff like this. It's unapologetically gay - even within its anime which aired during primetime hours in 1982 - in a way that many later BL manga would never be, like the ones from the early 2000s which would never dare to call their characters actual homosexuals. Patalliro has actually aged quite well in this regard, there's something comforting about how campy it is.
#i still dont really understand how they got away with this kind of thing honestly#female VAs i get that - but first m/m kiss in an anime in episode THREE?????#theres also the maraich/thomas episode where they are *Both* voiced by women....advanced yuri#patalliro#i love how bancorans gender expression is pretty much explicitly to attract only bishounen#you blushed - so you must not be a girl#etc#i also love how joyful it all is#theres never anything sad or tragic about being gay - only that bancoran is forced to kill the bishounen spies/assassins/etc#when bancoran finds out that gay sex feels good after demian; in the manga he is elated. its basically a positive thing#he awakens to his true power...lol#also notable is that while bishounen youth is glorified maraich is 18#this means it portrays being gay as an adult as normal; not a phase relegated to nostalgic adolescent periods of time#according to the NYT japan's psychiatric body called homosexuality a mental illness until 1995#im NOT going to say patalliro changed that or anything lmao but its just significant to me that banmara get to live their lives happily#even raise children together in the manga....???#especially contrasting that with kaze to ki no uta and other manga of the time (no shade intended)#yaoi#<- for tagging purposes#obviously it also got away with a lot by being a gag manga. but still!#months later edit: want to say im not intending to moralize BL manga from the 2000s either. like gen. no hate on them.#as a gay person i just appreciate when characters who act gay are considered gay textually#and its kind of disheartening how gay-as-identity was treated as something incredulous in those manga a lot of the time#even the mere suggestion of attraction to men as a whole and not just the other male lead...yknow#this post is meant to praise patalliro for being unique in its approach to gay content compared to other titles#ive enjoyed plenty of 2000s yaoi titles despite their shortcomings lol#joseiposting#shoujo

Thinking about step 9 and the whole concept of forgiveness of one’s self and others and it bringing healing and how bobby and Eddie have been paralleled a fair amount and the idea that Eddie started this process back at the end of s5 with his forgiveness and acceptance of his father but how he hasn’t yet gone anywhere near his mother and their relationship .
How his catholic guilt storyline seems more likely to play on his reltionship with his mother than his father (if his father wasn’t around that much it would’ve been Helena taking him to church etc each week) so the idea of an Eddie - Helena storyline that plays on catholic guilt and potentially his queerness in relation to that has me chewing on glass - it could be so epically good
#I’ve always viewed Helena as the biggest issue in Eddie’s relationship with his parents - Ramon has always - to me a least always seemed to#just go along with what Helena wants or dictates#it made sense with how his trauma ptsd army related arc played out that it was Ramon who was the centre of that#now though - catholic guilt - possibly playing into his queerness and suppression of that queerness#to keep some kind of reltionship with his mother - who only seems to view him through a lens of failure#leading him down a road where he wasn’t able to be his true self - it would be so powerful#there is so much potential there#eddie saying his mother wasn’t an issue in s6 - was such a choice and so pointed that they have to be wanting to explore that#so many aspects of who Eddie is and why he is the way he is - his want to nest but not being able to with women - stems from his mommy#issues and the fact he’s been denying they exist#I will eat it up - it would be the right kind of angst for the show and Ryan would deliver#plus the way it parallels with Bobby and his relationship with Catholicism would be fascinating#not to mention the whole Eddie not having a relationship with the faith he was brought up in only to start dating someone who is a literal#embodiment of that faith - and female - as a symbol of his needing to explore and reconcile the actual reasons for his faith lapsing- become#could not be queer and Latino and catholic when Eddie was growing up - it wasn’t an option - so if you step away from the faith that’s#denying a fundamental aspect of who you are#even if you still can’t act upon it - it is easier to keep that part of you concealed#911 spoilers#911 Thinky thoughts#eddie diaz#I need this arc to be a thing so badly#911 abc

the way white women categorically and repeatedly vote against their own best interests in every election gets more baffling with each passing year
their commitment to upholding the structures of power that grant them privilege over any other demographic of women is just sickening
their whiteness is always the deciding factor in how they view themselves in the world and their importance– they are ALWAYS white first > women second
the way it’s become more and more clear that they would take away their own right to vote, just so women of colour didn’t have one
how do you actually look in the mirror and reckon with any of that
i’m saying this with my entire chest: go fuck yourselves
#white privilege#us politics#the rise of tradfem content on sm - those she’s a girls girl posts - i’m just a girl uwu viral trend#it all leads right back here#putting themselves at the forefront to live a life of servitude to the patrilineal society the treats them as second class citizens#look i’m just saying what much smarter women have said before me#i’m just a white girl who lives half way across the world#you don’t listen to woc or poc so maybe you’ll listen to this#i’m just dumbfounded and struggling to find the words#i’m going to be sick#d stuff

Colin Baker makes some excellent faces as an unnamed town hall clerk, assisting Frank Marker with his case in Public Eye: The Man Who Didn't Eat Sweets (5.9, Thames, 1971)
#fave spotting#colin baker#doctor who#classic doctor who#six#public eye#the man who didn’t eat sweets#1971#thames#classic tv#im sure someone will have grabbed images from the dvd and cleaned them up nicely and so there is almost certainly a better post#floating out there on tumblr; after all‚ Colin has a big enough fanbase that someone must have got there#but i see a fave i make a post and with the tools at hand (bad screenshots from the copies on youtube)#I've been Going Through It recently and so revisiting public eye on and off as a source of comfort (it is one of my very favourite things)#but haven't had the energy for posts about it or anything so no episode posts this time round#this has always been one I'm strangely fond of. i think it's Peter Sallis' wonderful performance as the lead guest#he's [SPOILER] a serial bigamist and deceiver of women and yet he's somehow so very.. sympathetic isn't the word. but he has an almost#resigned reasonableness to his acknowledgement that yes‚ he's a dick‚ but he's just such a wife guy that he couldn’t stop getting married#it actually makes Frank's own actions (he covers for Sallis for the sake of the wife who hired him) feel somehow even grubbier and immoral#idk i haven't the brains to type it out#but i always appreciate this ep in a weird way

This is such a harmful sentiment to push considering that you don’t necessarily have to be “attractive,” (beauty is subjective, yada yada) in order for men to want to harm you in the slightest… like man, what…
#the lady talks about being followed and harassed and so on as if every woman and girl in the world regardless of their age and#‘good looks’#hasn’t experienced this and will continue to#I hate when these girls especially ones who are conveniently attractive talk about stuff like this under the guise of speaking for all#women while x-ing out most women#this easily leads into the realm of ‘you’re too ugly/fat to be assaulted ANYWAY-‘#talk that I see spread by misogynists and bird brained women like it’s such a natural thing to even say it’s actually rly scary#especially when it comes to the assault shit which is usually about power and control anyway#they don’t care what you look like#you could be covered up head to toe and someone would try to hurt you just because#I hate when women like this go online thinking that they said something open their mouths I really do#rambling#tw assault#got dudes in the comments going ‘she’s not even pretty anyway she’s like a 4 out of 10’#completely missing the message (as if they care) and see#these are the kinds of people that stuff like this attracts#stuff like this coming out of a woman’s mouth especially is so dangerous#I don’t think I’m the most good looking person in the world and I’ve been followed sm times I had to run away from a guy once and luckily#my bus was right fucking there!!!#then the guy who was harassing me years ago at a bus stop and forced me to hug him and touched my butt and no one else was around to help#me…#and he kept on trying to get me to go back to his apartment around the corner like that was so#the man who followed me into the store as I was shopping and I noticed that he kept on staring at me#then tried to holla and he looked way older than me and I think he was a pastor or something too he had a nice car and tried to get me to#come with him#sm more incidents over the years like this is crazy pls don’t say stuff like this and act like it’s normal#someone in the comments said that people like the woman in the video think that being pretty will free them from the patriarchy and like…#YEAH 😭#it’s so obvious too lmfao#these be the same women calling themselves ‘girls girls’’

There's something about deep m/f platonic relationships that hits different. Platonic cuddling, holding hands, all that-
It's just really cute to think about a friendship like that
#in movies and shows this sorta relationship always leads to a romantic one#and i wish we could see very close platonic relationships between men and women where it doesnt turn romantic#honestly right now im thinking about how daredevil in particular handles relationships#the romance in daredevil feels natural. foggy and karen go on one date and it doesnt go anywhere#but their relationship doesnt change in anyway. they just stay friends and theyre close friends who care so much aboht each other#same with matt and karen#and just. the way s3 ends with them just being friends??? i fucking love that okay?#stiff talk
