wolfstarbucks but remus feels a bit like he’s intruding in sirius and james’ bond, feels a bit inadequate, a bit introverted and quiet in comparison—why would they want him? and sirius has been very obv in flirting with remus so remus isn’t insecure abt that really, it’s obvious sirius wants him but james? james hasn’t made any obvious move towards him. james who wears his heart on his sleeve and loves so easily, james who’s been so loud in trying to woo lily, in showering sirius with his affection, james who’s always so obvious. this james? hasn’t expressed an ounce of romantic interest in remus. and maybe, because he doesn’t want him—he wants sirius. remus is just standing in the way.

wolfstarbucks but james has been watching his two best friends fall in love and sure, it doesn’t surprise him that sirius would want him too because it’s sirius? they’re together in every sense of the term, why not this extra step? but remus looks uncomfortable every time he’s there and james knows he’s a lot to take in, he’s messy and overbearing, but sirius matches his energy, so it’s easy to be himself with him, but what if he’s too much for remus? what if remus just tolerates him because he loves sirius and james was being too arrogant in thinking he might want him too? what if remus can handle sirius—loves him but not james?

remus usually so at ease with james, suddenly feeling like he’s walking on eggshell because maybe he’s not enough. because he thinks if he doesn’t draw attention to himself, james will be less likely to push him away.

james usually so expressive, suddenly taming down his loud and unfiltered self when he’s with remus because maybe he’s too much. he tries not to smother him with the love he feels for him because he doesn’t want to scare him away.

sirius carrying round sparkly stickers to give to james when he pays attention and so, affectively conditioning him into doing well in class. remus not realising this, starts bringing orange starbursts to class (james favourite) to give him when he gets class notes written, again, affectively conditioning him into doing work. james not realising either r trying to make him do work and just thinking they’re little acts of love. so, james starts bringing stickers for sirius and candy for remus so they can feel loved too.

neither of them tell james what they were trying to do and so, it’s constant back and forth of stickers and candy and a whole lot of love between the three
