Rewatching Pearl's Double Life now that I know the characters and series better, and have seen Scott's POV of it is kinda strange cus like. It's not like she's not being unhinged and a little bit unnerving, but like. That's Just How Pearl Is. Pearl's just like that. She does it in every other Life Series, she does it on Hermitcraft, that's how she does silly goofy Pearlo times. By sneaking up on people and talking in that voice and giggle from out of sight. Being unhinged and unnerving is just her sense of humor

But, and I'm guess this is probably because she might've come off as a lot more quiet and sweet for most of Last Life? (I'd need to watch more Last Life to verify that) everyone takes it all so seriously and tells her right to her face that they're terrified of her, they all shy away and let it prime them to see her as a threat for the moment something actually goes wrong in her vicinity.

Also just the whole they're literally in a death game and unnerving unpredictable behavior is not taken well even when it's intended as a joke, given that everyone is on such high alert constantly reassessing who is and isn't a threat and who they can or can't afford to help or trust

But Pearl doesn't really seem to understand what's going on, because everyone liked her well enough before (they explicitly say that too), and because she hasn't been in as many of these, and because she had an easier time in Last Life having a teammate she could always trust such that she didn't have to develop the same level of paranoia the others did just to survive. But suddenly everyone's scared and each and every opportunity for friendship is just dropping all around her, all outright rejecting her, and she hasn't the slightest clue why other than the fact that she is the sole constant in every situation

15/03/2024 - Portland Winterhawks vs Tri-City Americans

Luca Cagnoni beats 2 on a slippery, criminal zone entry and finds a gap for a sweet backhand saucer pass -> Diego Buttazzoni gets the finisher!

Gif 1: Cagnoni, carrying the puck through the neutral zone is pressured by Americans forward Andrew Fan (#11) on the backcheck. Cagnoni sticklifts Fan's attempt to intercept the puck, letting Fan over-skate it. The puck flies out between Fan's legs, and Cagnoni puts himself between Fan and the puck on entry. Buttazzoni, who was waiting on the blue line, explodes into action as they all enter the Americans' zone.

Gif 2: Americans defenceman David Byrne (#5) skates backward in front of Cagnoni with his stick out to intercept. Cagnoni slows down, widening his stance and skating on his edges. On his backhand, Cagnoni lifts the puck and sauces a pass directly across the slot. Byrne and Americans forward Deagen McMillan (#24) both try to intercept the pass, but fail. Buttazzoni, having made it to the end zone faceoff circle, catches the puck on his stick. Without waiting, Buttazzoni snaps a wrist shot at the Americans' net.

Gif 3: The puck bounces past Byrne and McMillan and to Buttazzoni, who shoots using a wrist shot with the puck pulled close to his feet. Americans goalie Kyle Kelsey (#1) tracks the pass and squares up with Buttazzoni as he shoots. The puck flies in, blocker side, and Kelsey attempts to trap it to his chest. anime race is weird because like blonde hair is 9/10 a "this is a westerner" which usually means white because you know *gestures vaguely to all of history and marketing trends* but not always and it happens that like most non-white westerners in anime get blonde hair no matter how little sense that makes statistically speaking. then again most white people don't have blonde hair either. it's weird is what i'm saying.

i also love when they just give white characters extremely generic white people names. i know in my heart that rita ainsworth was directly taken from a list of the top ten most common british names.
