━━━━━━━━━━━━ você ouviu a nova fofoca da cidade? me contaram que a michael levi sutton está de volta, aquele que parece com o glem powell! ele tem trinta e três anos e agora é oficialmente um jogador de futebol. ah, quase me esqueci que ele é um escorpiano nato, mas isso não passa de superstição da minha parte.

é o segundo filho de uma tradicional família fazendeira no interior do texas, onde nasceu e viveu até começar a jogar futebol profissionalmente. tem dois irmãos: o cinco anos mais velho, mason, e a caçula da família, dois anos mais nova, georgia.

começou a jogar futebol ainda quando criança, incentivado pelo irmão mais velho, e sem pretensão de fazer daquele o seu trabalho. na verdade, pensava em ir para a faculdade, cursar zootecnia ou medicina veterinária para continuar trabalhando na fazenda de seus pais, enquanto os irmãos ficariam com a administração.

foi sua paixão pelo esporte (e não puramente talento, diga-se de passagem) que o tornou tão bom jogador. ele sempre começava a treinar mais cedo e era o último a sair, intercalando os treinamentos com o time e o treino da academia nas brechas que encontrava do seu trabalho na fazenda. não que seus pais o obrigasse, mas a sua inclinação a cuidar dos bichos sempre esteve presente.

no ensino médio, destacava-se no time, inclusive pela sua postura de liderança. a determinação somada ao talento chamou atenção dos olheiros e ele foi chamado por algumas universidades para compor o time universitário. acabou optando por louisiana, onde abandonou definitivamente o desejo de cursar coisas relacionadas à fazendo dos seus pais para se estudar comunicação e conciliar com o ritmo de treinos e jogos.

levi foi escolhido no draft da nfl e teve sua carreira marcado por muitos momentos baixos, em que se duvidava que ele conseguiria se recuperar. teve uma lesão grave no joelho logo no início da carreira, seguido por lesões no ombro e outras menores ao longo do tempo. mesmo sendo afastado do campo diversas vezes, levi esteve determinado a se tratar e se dedicar ao máximo para retornar, "calando a boca" de quem especulava que seria o seu fim de carreira.

curiosidades ━━━━━━━━━━━━ há anos, planeja cumprir o desafio rory de leitura, mas nunca conseguiu; gosta de reunir seus amigos em sua casa, porque na sua infância, seus pais costumavam lotar a casa com a família e amigos, inclusive os dele e dos irmãos.

We do NOT give Jackie Tyler and Mickey Smith their props for their character growth in the Parting of the Ways. Rose is absolutely amazing, an absolute ferocious beacon of hope and stubbornness and bravery in the finale, the absolute reason why the Doctor lives and the world is saved and an equal hero to Nine, but she has a moment of doubt. A moment of hesitancy.

And Mickey Smith and Jackie Tyler step in and help her save the day. Both Mickey and Jackie give up on their idea of Rose and their hatred of the Doctor and help her pull open the TARDIS. Even within this one episode we see them struggle with their feelings and decide to put them aside and help do this because Rose is right- this is a better way of living your life.

Doctor Who is about ordinary people making extraordinary decisions and making themselves extraordinary and this doesn't just apply to official companions (who I love with all my might)- it applies to the people they love, too. We see it over and over again in Davies' era, with Jackie and Mickey and Sylvia and Tish and Wilfred and Francine and Harriet Jones and every one-off character as well, from Lynda-with-a-Y to Jabe to Gwyneth to Novice Hame to McDonnell to Sally to Chantho to Nancy to all the rest.

Doctor Who is at its strongest when the story is focused on the strength of the bleeding, beating heart of humanity (and character in general, in its non-humans), when the characters drive the story, when at the end of the day you understand why, for all of the world's flaws, the Doctor comes back over and over again because of people like this- not just his companions, but the Jackies and Mickeys and all the rest of the world.
