What about Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, but it’s 19th century Gothic Yuji and Sukuna obsessing over their cute little lab assistant.
Where Yuji finds himself falling in love with the pretty little thing that turned up one night on his doorstep. How could a gentleman refuse a damsel in distress? She’d had nowhere to go, and a woman on the streets is a woman without dignity. He’d done her a favor taking her in, feeding her, clothing her, teaching her everything he knows. Well, almost everything.
And it’s not that she’s not grateful, no, she’s always eager to please, pretty doe eyes blinking up at him with only the purest intentions of proving her worth.
It’s when that voice in his head that he swears isn’t his starts to talk.
Bend her over and spread her legs.
He’d had years of experience tuning the other inside of him out, and begrudgingly grew used to the snide remarks about the so-called useless pussy on legs. But it’s only when his more ignoble half begins to make suggestions with less than savory intentions that he finds himself wavering. He tries to reason that it isn’t him, not really. He can keep it under control. He always has.
It’s the small things really, how she bites the tip of her pencil in concentration during his lectures, determined to be of some use to him. Pretty lips parted oh so delicately, hugging the tip to her teeth.
Let me out. I want to see that whore mouth painted white with my cum.
Or when she blinks dumbly at him from under butterfly lashes, a sheepish giggle and warmth on her cheeks because something he said went in one ear, through her ditzy little brain, and out the other.
Dumb little thing would sink down and suck our cock dry if we told her it was in the name of science, wouldn’t she?
An involuntary twitch of his fingers sends his heart leaping to his throat.
Why don’t you find out?
He drowns it out until the cover of night shields him, locked inside his chambers before giving an inch to the monster. Stroking his cock to the image of her laid out naked and moaning beneath him, legs spread and welcoming. Where the thought of licking the sweat from the skin of her neck has him hurtling off that cliff, and into the resulting ocean of shame.
Little things build up, he finds, and even with her painfully female brain, she begins to notice something off. Though, he finds himself grateful when it isn’t disgust that meets him, but concern. Oh, bless women and their nurturing sensibilities.
She’ll fuss over him like a true lady, mothering but not smothering. Anything he needs to help soothe those pesky migraines. And he’ll finally realize an acceptable way to indulge in his impure thoughts. He’ll make the street urchin he turned lady his wife.
He ignores the rumbling of low laughter that rattles his brain at the thought, deep enough to shake something important but easily forgotten in his bones.
He’ll make all the appropriate preparations for a courtship, determined to woo her as a man would, as a man should. Dress her up, and take her on a promenade through the finest parts of town, introducing her to the finest people at the finest parties.
But he reasons that was his first mistake. Because when he watches her laugh, all airy and bright, intentionally tempting, entirely too close to that brooding dark-haired duke he liked to call brother, white hot fury spills into his veins. That distant familiar desire, heady in all its glory, bloodlust, is his only warning. And the other, who’d been quiet for quite some time, smugly returns.
A whore is a whore no matter the clothes. You thought she’d choose you?
He’ll down glass after glass of scotch, determined to ignore it, but too focused on the brush of her delicate fingers alongside the Duke’s sleeve. There’s a look in his friend’s eye he’s never quite seen before; it’s soft, warm, and it’s all it takes for him to rush to the water closet and hurl up the contents of his stomach.
Pathetic. A man doesn’t wait to be chosen. A man takes what’s his. There’s only one between us. Let me out.
A man takes what’s his. It’s a thought that settles too comfortably in his mind, and he resolves to keep her close. No more outings with those snobbish lords and ladies. Just to save her the embarrassment of exposing the unrefined nature of her peasant birth any more than she already had.
It’ll work for a time, but it’s just a little while later that his brother turned traitor starts turning up on the manor’s doorstep with his own intentions of courtship. Excuses of their preoccupation with scientific breakthroughs and studies only keep him at bay for so long.
I’ll do what you can’t. Let me out.
He begins to wonder whether the beast had been wrong when he catches her wistful stares out the window, too conspicuously asking about the wellbeing of a man that isn’t him. A whore is a whore. When she comes back from town with the excuse of restocking food or supplies, why does she take longer and longer to return each time?
Let Me Out.
He’ll question why it isn’t enough. Why he isn’t enough. He isn’t, not if her attention still turned elsewhere. There’s a beating at the door of his mind that threatens to split at any moment. Finally, mercifully, she’ll relieve the struggle with two words.
He proposed.
He proposed. He proposed. He proposed. He doesn’t hear anything after that, not as she sputters out empty placations and gratitude. Not when she solidifies her intentions of leaving him.
He just responds in kind with two earth-shattering words of his own.
Come out.

Revelations - part 2
Pairing: Daniel Ricciardo x Reader
Summary: bringing the kids to a gp
A/n: whoooo double drop day! Enjoy!!!!
requests open masterlist part one
——————————————
“You know the drill, stay with me or your dad,” you remind your son and daughter as Daniel parks. Oscar immediately came to visit your home when you got back to Australia, wanting to catch up on the hidden parts of his fellow Aussies lives. The exchange? Free babysitting.
Daniel is such a girl dad, it almost pains you that your daughter likes him more than you, but your son is a mama’s boy so it balances out.
“Florence, keep a tight hold of me,” Daniel says, carrying the four year old on his him. She dozes on his shoulder halfway to the paddock entrance. Your son, Sidney, had a tight grip of your hand. You decided to get here early, before media, so there was a less stressful entrance. Even the video that Red Bull posts of Daniel walking through the paddock blurs out your children’s faces.
“Uncle Maxie,” your daughter stretches her arms out to the Dutchman. He carefully takes her and walks off, chatting away. If it were anyone but Max, you might be concerned.
“Hi Uncle Christian,” Sidney greets his godfather excitedly, the older man equally happy to see his godson. Christian gives you and Daniel the go ahead to walk away and grab breakfast at Hospitality.
“Will you be okay watching them the whole race while being my engineer?” Daniel asks as you both pick at your plates.
“Kelly is going to keep an eye on them, they will be with her in the garage. I think your Mom is coming in for the race tomorrow,” you tell Daniel. You decided to test out their F1 tolerance during FP3 and Qualis instead of just the race.
They do well enough that you feel comfortable with having them in the garage for the race. You do your race engineer work from the garage instead of the pit wall, preferring to be closer with the mechanics and other engineers. Halfway through the race, your mother-in-law carefully hands you a fussy and tired Florence. You let her sit on your lap as you work, holding her close, something that F1TV caught. She notices you talking to her father.
Daniel, overtake is available at the next DRS
Copy, DRS is enabled
Nice overtake, continue to defend. Daddy?
Is that Flo? Tell her I said hi and to let you work.
Copy, focus on your race, please.
Florence is happy to know her dad heard her and quickly falls asleep on your shoulder.
Daniel, box, fresh set of hards are ready for you.
Copy. How are the kids?
Flo is sleeping and Sid is watching with P. Please focus on the race, Danny. Box, box.
Alright Mrs Ricciardo, I see how it is, all business no fun
Someone has to keep you focused, Daniel.
You honestly don’t know how no one had picked up on Daniel’s radio messages to you before your relationship was revealed. He does focus on the race, it’s his job, but every once in a while he does make comments that aren’t racing related. As the last few laps are underway, Florence wakes up from her nap. You point out her dad on one of the screens and decide to surprise him by letting her talk to him.
“Okay Flo, just like I told you,” you gently remove the headphones covering her ears and put the far too big headset on her. Christian is the one who suggested that you do that.
Great race Daddy, P5
Hi Baby Girl, did you help your mama out this race?
I did, just like you told me to.
Good job, I’m so proud of you. Now, let me talk to your mama, she has some special things to tell me. I’ll see you soon sweetheart.
Hey Daniel, great race. Team’s proud of you. Pull in for weigh ins and media. We will have a quick debrief but we are happy with the race.
Copy. Couldn’t have done it without you and the team. Thanks guys.
Kelly and Daniel’s mom entertain the kids while you and Daniel have post-race meetings, but when you get to his drivers room after your last meeting with the engineers, you find him passed out on the couch with your kids sleeping on him. You snap a picture, sending it to one of your Red Bull group chats as well as directly to Max and Oscar.
Social media was loving the radio clips of you and Daniel talking, as well as Florence congratulating her father. Pair that with the videos of her sleeping on your shoulder mid race and every other clip of you and Daniel with the kids, it’s no wonder why your family is trending.
“Dan,” you whisper, gently shaking your husband’s shoulder.
“Hm? Have I been asleep long?” He whispers, trying not to disturb the kids.
“Probably not. Let’s get back to the hotel,” you smile softly, gently picking up Florence so he can get up. He carries Sidney, who is still asleep, while you carry Florence. Thankfully for the both of you, you were ready to leave.
“No more races for them until they are older,” Daniel proposes.
“Unless it’s here, I think I will agree to that,” you nod, brushing hair off of Florence’s head. You realistically know Daniel only has a couple seasons left in him, and that Florence wants to race just like her dad, so it might be better to wait until one of you is available to be with them the whole time. Sidney stirs as you get closer to your car.
“That was fun, when are we going again?”

Yandere Michael Myers (1/3)
Word Count; 3.7k
Beep. Beep. Beep.
I rolled onto my side, hand slamming down on the alarm. A groggy yawn escaped my lips. Daylight cascaded past the curtains. Normally, I’d loiter a little longer, but it was my first day at a new job, and I was carpooling with Irene, a sweet neighbor and mother of four with whom I became acquainted.
So, I stepped out of bed and went to the bathroom, going through my morning routine with extra care. I was tired, but despite that, motivated. After all, it was my first job straight out of college after having received my nursing degree. Sure, the job would probably be more intense than most… but my parents wanted me to return home.
I finished up a thin layer of makeup and got dressed. I supposed that I wouldn’t need to be all flashy since I’d be wearing a nursing outfit upon arrival, but I still wanted to leave a good impression on my new boss, Samuel Loomis.
I took my time eating breakfast. I was quite nervous, but I knew things would go smoothly. Sure, working at a sanitarium could be unsafe, but even the most dangerous members of society deserve to be treated with humanity.
It was approaching half-past-eight, so I zoomed out the door. Irene was parked out front and I walked up to the car. I opened the door, greeting,” Hey, Irene!”
“Good morning, Y/n,” the black-haired Asian woman greeted.
We headed through Haddonfield. The radio was turned to a minimum. We made some small talk on the drive, eventually exiting the main town and venturing through some forestry. We eventually approached the Smith’s Grove Sanitarium. I fiddled with my bag.
The guards let us through the front gate after confirming our identities. Irene parked near the front of the dismal grey building. All of the barred windows were off-putting. It must’ve gotten cold during the winter.
“I hope you can last,” Irene sighed. “This job can be… stressful. It depends on who your assigned patients are, though. Mine are fairly nice, but some of our coworkers have experienced violence. And infrequently, death.”
Shivers rolled down my spine. I mustered no reply. We went to the front desk. “Hi, sir. I’m a new employee. Where am I supposed to go?” I asked the attendant, leaning against the counter.
He sent me a small smile. “I’ll call Doctor Loomis. He always insists on showing new employees around himself.”
He reached for the phone and pressed a button, calling for Doctor Loomis. Meanwhile, I sent Irene off since she had more pressing matters.
A middle-aged man emerged from one of the doors a few minutes later. I recognized him immediately, as his book was incredibly popular, even today.
“Hello, sir!”
The man sent me a warm grin. “You must be Ms. L/n. There’s no time to waste. Let me show you around.”
“Great! Thank you for this opportunity, sir.”
A tour began. I was shaking in my boots, but hardly from the circumstances. I felt more at home in the sanitarium than in any other place, but I was determined to make a good impression on her new boss. The tour seemed almost redundant; it was as though I hadn’t been thoroughly introduced to the map in my pocket already.
“I have a patient that I’d like you to take special care of. Of course, there will be others, but this one… needs someone with such a sunny disposition such as yourself,” Dr. Loomis explained. “I’m sure you’ve heard and perhaps grown up with the stories of this particular patient: Michael Myers. He is a renowned serial killer.”
“Yes,” I replied chipperly. “I’m looking forward to meeting him.”
“Good, because you are going to right now.”
The abruptness took me aback. Anxiety attempted to curl against my insides, but I didn’t allow it. We halted in front of a door that was far sturdier than the others; the door looked fresh and new, which told a story all of its own. Dr. Loomis withdrew keys from his pocket and inserted one. I couldn’t help but gulp.
The door squeals open. I anticipate the deadpan stare as the man and I make immediate eye contact. I had only heard of his strange mask, but never had I seen what he actually looked like: brown, tussled, and overgrown hair. A sharp jawline. Bright blue eyes. Broad and tall. Everything that, under normal circumstances, would make a girl’s heart flutter. But mine was still. He sat in a perfect posture on the bed, and thick metal cuffs gave him little to no freedom with a chain stuck in the wall.
“Michael. This is Y/n, your new nurse. I hired her to attend to — almost exclusively — your needs. I hope you two can get along. Ms. L/n?” Dr. Loomis introduced, ushering me in.
I grinned, trying to shake off the nerves. “Hello, Michael. I look forward to helping you out. Take it easy on me while I get used to the job, alright?”
“Very good. Now, Ms. L/n will get your lunch medication.”
I was startled but eagerly nodded, having already been shown and trained the how of it all. “Yes. It was wonderful to meet you, Michael.”
As Dr. Loomis and I exited, I felt his gaze glued to me. It was rather unnerving.
Ten minutes later, alone and armed only with my alarm, cell key, and medications, I returned. I took a deep breath. Little did Loomis know, but I had a vague history with Michael Myers. Although we never spoke, he had been in my kindergarten class all the way to when he went on a murder spree. I couldn’t help but wonder if he knew me, too.
Under normal circumstances, I wouldn’t want to work at this specific sanitarium, even though it was my dream job. However, due to parental pressure, I was urged not to leave the area. Coincidentally, this was the only place hiring. Michael Myers was old enough that my parents didn’t bat an eye when I mentioned where I would be working, so it all fit together perfectly.
I entered the room with the small metal tray. Michael hadn’t moved an inch. His eyes bore into me — or perhaps beyond me — and his fists were still clenched in his lap. “Now, although I’m new,” I began,” I’m sure you know the drill. A few pills and a shot.”
I approached warily. Michael did nothing but blink. I sat the tray down on the bedside table, my moves calculated. I grabbed the styrofoam cup of water and handed it to him. He downed his pills with ease and took the shot like a champ. It put me on edge how still the man was. I carefully sat on the bed next to him.
“Although I was advised against breaching the five feet of the chain’s length, I hope you won’t mind. I just… wanted you to get to know me a little since I’ll be working closely with you.” His gaze flitted toward me, cold. “I just recently graduated from nursing school with a specialization in psychiatrics. I was born and raised in Haddonfield, the same as you. And this kind of job is my dream job since I believe that even criminals deserve care and to be treated as humans. So, Michael, I hope you understand that I will do my best to ensure you are well cared for, even in these conditions.”
As I expected, there was hardly any indication he had heard me at all. I stood and nodded. “Anyways, I believe it’s time for lunch. I’ve heard you aren’t allowed to eat with the others, but… I’m hoping I can change that.”
~~~
And change that I did. Dr. Loomis was surprised by Michael’s supposed ‘obedience,’ which had been there from the start. By the time he allowed me to take him to the cafeteria, I had been working there for two months. And although I watched closely, I had hardly noticed any changes in his behavior. My coworker, Irene, convinced me otherwise. With the dangerous stunts I’d been pulling proximity-wise, it was shocking that I had yet to end up like the others.
I wasn’t one to play dumb. I knew that Michael had the highest kill count with the nurses. With giant hands and a large body, he could easily overpower me, but the encouragement I’d gotten from my superiors kept me going. And today was major progress.
Guards clutched at his elbows as we walked down the sanitarium halls. I frowned slightly, knowing that if Michael wanted to do anything, he certainly could, cuffs or otherwise. I walked slightly ahead, having been entrusted with the keys to the cuffs. Although Michael would be somewhat separated, Dr. Loomis believed this to be major news for Michael’s rehabilitation — and now, the doctor was supporting me in risky endeavors.
I grabbed lunch for him as the guards settled him in the corner of the cafeteria. Eyes from the other patients were stuck to me, as I’d only been vaguely introduced. I. Mainly worked with Michael, although I covered a shift for the nurse who works with Marcus — and I understood why she called off so often.
Marcus was an interesting subject. He was a serial rapist, and it showed. Despite his history, Dr. Loomis often had female nurses working with him. And when I did, he did nothing but spit cruel, perverse cat calls at me. I heard a familiar whistle and knew it had come from his general area. I wasn’t surprised that the serial killer made me more comfortable than the rapist.
I returned to Michael with his food. His eyes bore into me, and I smiled. “Now, Michael, I had to pull many strings for this. I hope you appreciate this, but I’m allowed to remove your cuffs for a more comfortable eating experience.”
Michael's eyes flickered to his hands and back to me. I noticed his lips twitched, too. Progress, I chanted in my head. This was progress.
The guards took the handcuffs and held them tightly. They were trained to assess everyone and everything as a threat. Michael was slow and calculated, rolling his wrists. He then took his fork and ate. A sense of intrigue fell over the other patients, and some of the other nurses had their eyes glued to Michael’s form. They were waiting for a freakout that wouldn’t happen, either because Michael was making progress or because he wasn’t dumb enough to plan a breakout in this environment.
Mealtime passed without a hitch. I spent the entire time saddled up beside him. My job felt meaningful as I sat with him. When it was time for him to be escorted back to his room, I told Michael I would see about more comfortable handcuffs for him. Exiting the cafeteria was without hitches, minus a loud holler from Marcus, to which I couldn’t help but notice how Michael’s hands clenched.
When he was safely back in his cell, I decided to try another risky maneuver; I set him free from his restraints and sat beside him on the bed. Michael was still; he always was. I cleared my throat, beginning my typical speech of positivity.
“I know it probably seems silly to you, Michael, but I’m quite proud of you. I’m glad you’re challenging expectations here. You’re really making progress, whether you admit to it or not, and I thank you for that.”
~~~
Or so I thought. That night, my landline awoke me from a deep slumber. I thought nothing of it, deciding I wouldn’t be a pushover and pick up another night shift at work. However, the ringing persisted. And when it stopped momentarily, it came again.
I rolled out of bed. My hair was disheveled, and my purple silk pajamas — a gracious housewarming gift from my mother — were crumpled and twisted slightly. I shuffled downstairs, the ringing getting louder the closer I grew. I finally made it to the phone.
“Hello —“
“L/n, you need to get down here right now! It’s an emergency —“
“Dr. Loomis, what —“
“He’s gone on a rampage. Twelve nurses are dead, and so are five patients —“
“I’ll be right there!”
The line went dead instantly. My mouth no longer felt dry. I was fully alert, although some sleep persisted in the creases of my eyes. I dashed upstairs and pulled on my earlier clothes, which lay scattered on the ground. With that, I made it to my bright blue buggy and drove to my endangered work site.
I’m not entirely sure what motivated me. I thought the police would better handle the situation, and it felt as though all of my efforts had been reduced to nothing. Something had set him off. But I wasn’t a therapist. I shouldn’t have crossed that boundary of trying to give him opportunities.
I pulled into the parking lot.
The moment I exited the car, I heard screaming. Several police cars were parked in front of the sanitarium's entrance. A group of police officers was huddled, but even they seemed worried. I pushed past despite warnings to remain outside. I dashed through the entrance. I followed the sound of the screams.
And upon entering the prisoner hallways, I found her. My dear friend and coworker, Irene. She lay in the middle of the hallway as a twitching, bloody mess. A weapon had clearly been used: the handcuffs. Her head was bashed in, but there was also bruising around her throat. She’s been bashed and choked to death.
The halls were eerily silent. All of the cells had been unlocked. Some of the patients’ corpses were scattered. All of this destruction… was done by one man.
What had I done? What part of Michael had I unlocked?
I skulked down the hallways. Where were the guards? Where were the police? Where was anybody?
I passed by deceased coworkers as I skulked carefully down the hallways. Occasionally, some of the corpses released dying breaths, but I was certain I was following the blood. And then, as I glanced at the floor, I noticed the smears stopped and bloody footsteps began. The feet were large, and the shoe prints belonged to prisoner shoewear. I gulped, recognizing that the footsteps went straight toward the cafeteria entrance. Worst of all, if Michael discovered the back exit for the cafeteria staff, he would be free.
The doors were wide open, and one was even off the hinges. I stood in the entrance. It was pitch black inside, although the lights sometimes flickered on and off. The footsteps seemed to fade out very quickly into the cafeteria.
I gulped and took a step back. What was I thinking? That I could confront him? The man was a mammoth and a maniac. I was just the nurse who supported his development. He probably hated my guts, despite what Dr. Loomis thought.
None of the bodies belonged to Dr. Loomis. So where was he? And where was Michael?
I wasn’t left wondering for very long. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed some postils gleaming from the hallway to my right. The police were here, and I was nothing more than bait. No wonder they let me through so easily. Shivers rolled down my spine, and I took two steps into the blackness of the cafeteria.
As the lights flickered on, I saw him. He was holding the corpse of Marcus, that damned patient. I didn’t feel too bad about him, but I was shaking in my boots as the body fell to the ground, and Michael’s gaze turned directly toward me.
His expression had not changed from that of any other day. Cold. Calm. Empty.
And as though he was gliding, he made a beeline toward me. So many questions about his escape flashed through my cranium, and all I could do was freeze in place. A scream remained silent in my throat as I put my trust in the police to be right behind me. My fists clenched, and I opened my mouth just as Michael was a few feet away from me.
“Michael, stop!”
He did.
That made my heart drop to my stomach. However, I realized I did hold some power. I was waiting desperately for the police to enter and intervene, but they were waiting. I decidedly didn’t want them to and took a step back. Michael tilted his head, unblinking. He stayed frozen in place. A plastic knife with the handle broken off was in his bloodied hands, and I noticed some gelatin goo was sticking to the tips. His jumpsuit was drenched and sprayed, as was his face. His hair had never looked more tussled. And even without smiling, he had never seemed more gleeful.
“Michael, what… what is happening? Why did you… do this?”
Before Michael could even think, shuffling footsteps came from behind me. My jaw dropped as an arm suddenly looped around my waist and pulled me away. But Michael just stood standing still as gunshots drilled into his chest. And then, finally, he dropped.
~~~
“Ms. L/n, I understand —“
“No, Dr. Loomis, you don’t,” I pleaded, my aggravation present. “Michael is alive and detained. Something I did set him off, or he was planning it. Nothing I can do will help. I refuse to return to work. I am quitting, effective immediately.”
Dr. Loomis, from behind his work desk, suddenly banged his fists into the desk. “L/n! I know it’s been hard on everyone, but we need you here. We’ve lost twelve nurses. The nurse-to-patient ratio isn’t adding up. The sanitarium is overrun and, if even for the short term, we need you here. I know what we went through was hard, and what happened here can’t happen again.”
“But it will. Does anyone even know how he escaped?” I quipped snappily. “He never even managed to escape his handcuffs. He didn’t need to. So who’s to say it won’t happen again?”
“Because he is being sent away to a sanitarium called Smith’s Grove Sanitarium. It has a high level of security, far better than ours —“
“Good. But that doesn’t mean I am capable of returning to work. I am leaving now, Dr. Loomis.”
With an exasperated expression, Dr. Loomis grasped at the air where I once sat. I didn’t glance back as I exited the office. And I didn’t spare any moments to analyze my surroundings until I was in my car on the road heading far, far away from the sanitarium.
My parents, having finally connected the dots about my job, had been scared shitless. Luckily, it was summer, and the Haddonfield High School was hiring for a new biology position. I was planning to apply to keep things rolling. Deep down, though, I just wanted to ditch this town and escape the parental pressures I was forced into. It was a little late for that, though. The damage had been done.
~~~
For class that day, I had been gracious. I put on the Charlie Brown Halloween movie and sat at my desk. I couldn’t help but notice that as most kids were either passing notes, doodling, or watching, I had one student whose eyes were glued to the window. Laurie had her pen stuck in her mouth as she adamantly stared out.
Suddenly, Laurie looked rather alarmed and made direct eye contact with me. “Ma’am?”
“Yes, Laurie?”
“Can - can I go to the bathroom?”
I paused, glancing out the window for myself. A car was driving away. “Yes, Laurie, go ahead.”
Some of the kids snickered, to which I sent a stern glare. I went back to grading papers, instead getting lost in thought. Teaching was hardly my calling. I was a natural stutterer in the wrong element and did not enjoy disciplining undisciplined children. I also felt that it was dull to go back to the basics, which I would probably end up doing year after year with no change. I knew I had a lot of liberty and the job paid well, but it wasn’t like my time at the sanitarium, with doubled paychecks and a routine that wasn’t up to me. However, I promised my parents to stick around until a better job opportunity popped up.
The movie credits were suddenly rolling, and a student alerted me from my position. Laurie had rejoined the group at some point. I flicked off the television.
“Well, since I’m everybody’s favorite teacher, and it’s Halloween, why don’t you all just head out early? Class dismissed. Don’t cause any ruckus. I’m looking at you, Tommy.”
I sent a friendly grin, and the students whooped and hollered. Laurie only glanced away from the window and began packing her things. Laurie was a good student: studious, communicative, and attentive. Perhaps movie days just weren’t her style. Several students came up to talk to me in a line after class, wishing me a happy holiday or asking about grades. Laurie slunk out of the classroom quietly.
After the classroom had been evacuated, I sighed, and out of morbid curiosity, I wandered over to Laurie’s seat. I was taken aback as I recognized that the car from earlier had returned, but even more disturbing, a tall figure with a white mask and brown hair loomed over the vehicle. He made direct eye contact with me.
My brain began processing so many horrors all at once. I hadn’t thought about Michael specifically in months, but it all came flooding back. His history… but it was also Halloween. And no news had come to me about Michael’s escape. Not from Dr. Loomis or the papers.
Regardless, I stumbled back, blinking at the masked figure. We maintained a long, steady eye contact. Even when a man walking his dog strolled on the opposite side of the street, I knew the masked figure’s gaze remained glued to me.
It couldn’t be Michael. It was a creepy Halloween prank…
I steeled myself and wandered back to my desk. I hurriedly packed up, abandoning the biology tests on the desk in a flurry. Prank or otherwise, I was thoroughly disturbed and wanted to escape that man’s gaze.
When I glanced out the window one last time, the car and man were long gone.

Caretaker S.R x fem!Reader
Reader is hired as a live-in caretaker for Diana. Describes when she accidentally flooded the apartment, but I kind of mess with canon and plot. Could kind of take place after prison other than that. Diana ships Reader and Spencer. Reader is a graduate student in an online program.
C-Ws: Diana slaps reader, descriptions of alzheimer's and schizophrenia, Spencer is not used to people trying to take care of him and thinks he'll scare away reader.
(I've worked in a memory care/assisted living facility, and have a few relatives with alzheimer's and schizophrenia. But this is based on my still somewhat limited experience. And I have no medical experience, mostly just hospitality and comfort based work)
You had finally gotten to the address the agency gave you, after waiting a short eternity in the Washington traffic. It was a live-in caretaker job of a woman with schizophrenia and alzheimer's, living also with her son who traveled often for work. Your contact at the agency said the son, Dr. Reid was very nice and was ok with your slightly more limited experience. You buzzed and after a little while the man you assumed to be Dr.Reid came to the door.
“Hi, you must be Ms.Y/L/N from the agency, I’m so glad you’re here.” He looked both shocked and relieved, like he thought you wouldn’t actually show up. While you were trying not to notice (Or at least trying not to show) that you thought the doctor was particularly gorgeous. But he would not only functionally be your employer, but also a sort of roommate. Plus you really wanted this job, you were a little new to being a live in caretaker after working in assisted living facilities since high school. You were in a grad program now, one you were completing online that allowed you to have caretaking as your career.
“I’m happy to be here! You must be Dr.Reid?”
“I am, and this is my mother Diana Reid.” He gestured to the woman on the couch, who had yet to even look at you. I mean you were kind of invading her house, so you couldn’t blame her. But you were determined to make her like you, I mean this job is a huge opportunity, and as you were new to the city the live in position was a two-birds-one-stone situation.
“Hi Ms. Reid, I’m Y/N, it’s lovely to meet you. Your son has told me so much about you.” You gave her a nervous wave as you walked in front of the couch, still attempting to give her space while being in her line of sight.
“I’m sure he has. I don’t need a stranger hovering over me.” She then stormed into the adjoining room, shutting and locking the door behind her. Dr.Reid attempted to chase after her, finding the door locked from the inside and calling out to her.
“Mom, please just meet her! You’ve chased off every other nurse from the agency!” he got no reply, and solemnly turned back towards you. He was exhausted, dark circles under his eyes and he looked utterly dejected.
“I’m sorry to waste your time, I understand if you’d like to leave.”
“I’ll stay, unless you’d like me to leave.” confusion and hope clouded his expression, you weren’t giving up that easy.
“That was just a first meeting, I get that she doesn’t want me in her space, but she might warm up to me. Plus, one of the best ways for me to get to know her right now is through you.”
“Oh my god, thank you so much. Today is one of her worse days, she’s not usually like this I swear.” He looked elated at the fact you didn’t leave so you knew you were getting the job. He just needed the help too much, and you were determined to get this woman to like you. From what Dr.Reid had already told you over the phone, she seemed like a wonderful woman you’d actually really like to know. She just had to not hate you first.
“It’s ok, just a bad day. I totally understand she’s upset. Why don’t you and I talk until she comes out?”
“Yes, here have a seat, and I’ll grab you some water.” He hurriedly cleared some books off the couch so you could sit, disappearing into the kitchen and returning with a glass of water a few moments later. While he was gone you pulled your work notebook and some pens out so you could take some notes.
“Thank you Dr. Reid, that’s really sweet.”
“Of course, and you can call me Spencer.”
“Alright, really quick just like my experience and such, I’m sure the agency told you most of it. I’m a little new to being a live-in caretaker, but I have experience at a couple assisted living facilities. I’ve taken care of a few family members with schizophrenia as well as alzheimers so I have experience with that as well. I’m a graduate student so I’ll work on some classwork during times when your mother is resting but it’s all online so it shouldn’t interfere with anything.”
He nodded along patiently as you basically read him your resume, and then responded in kind. “That all sounds great, I travel as part of my work so I may be gone for a few days to a week at a time, but it should never be for too long, and as this is a live-in position I’ll leave a card you can use for anything you or my mother need while I’m gone.”
“That’s very kind, thank you. So, could you run me through a regular day for your mother? Just all of it, the activities she likes, medications, food times, all that good stuff so I can be prepared, and not change her routine too much.” You bounced back and grabbed a pen to start taking notes to help you remember all of the information.
“Absolutely, yeah. Does this mean that you’ll take the job?” He looked so full of hope at the sentiment.
“If you’re offering, then yes I’d love to. I can start whenever you’re ready.” He lit up and pulled you into a hug you were not at all prepared for. He smelled really good, which was only made more noticeable by the sharp inhale you took in surprise of the gesture.
“Oh. Hi.” You couldn’t think of anything else to say during the hug to cut the tension you were feeling. He clearly took this as discomfort and pulled away.
“Sorry, I jus- Thank you. That is amazing, thank you so much.”
“Of course, I really need to thank you for the opportunity. I look forward to getting to know your mom.”
You talked about different logistics, as well as him giving you a short tour of the house before you had to leave, before Diana would re-emerge. You started the next day, with Spencer there to start to ease the transition in the morning. After he left you and Diana, confident that she was having a good day, he headed for work.
Diana did not have a good day after getting some rest after lunch. She needed to take one more medication, but when she woke up, she didn’t remember you. At least not as you the person her son hired to take care of you, she thought that you were using her son to get information on her. She thought you were there to manipulate the both of them, so when you offered her medication she wouldn’t take it.
You did all you could do, you waited. And then after a short window had passed you gave her a drink with her medication in it, which after she drank, she realized it was the medication. She called you a fascist, and then unfortunately, slapped you. This wasn’t the first time a confused elderly person had gotten physical with you, so you attempted to keep your professionalism in tact. She ran to the bedroom, and you sat against the wall, reading to her from a collection of poetry Spencer said she loved.
When you went to check on her and she was safely asleep, you continued cleaning the mess from the previous day. A small flood spread through the apartment, damaging several books and leaving towels littered around the room after Spencer had collapsed from exhaustion about the time you finished unpacking for the night. Spencer came home about the same time, to towels freshly in the wash, and you attempting to start repairing the books. You had a friend who was a librarian, and between a phone call with her and extensive research on the internet you’d made some progress. Books were spread out around you, in various states of drying and re-drying. You only noticed when you heard the door shut that he had come home, not hearing the key turn in the lock like you thought you would.
“Hi.”
“Hi, uh-what are you doing?” He was carrying a leather satchel that he was now setting on his desk, and he shoved his hands in his pockets. His brow cocked in confusion as he looked at you.
“Oh, I noticed the books that got damaged, and your mother is still resting so I thought I’d get started on the drying process. I promise I asked my friend, she’s a librarian so that I wouldn’t make it worse.”
“Wow, that is really sweet, thank you Y/N. I really appreciate it.” He was walking closer to where you were sitting on the floor in the living room, carefully avoiding the spread-out books.
“How’s mom doing? Did the rest of the day go alright?” He turned on the lamp by the couch, before moving a few of the books to sit. You had just started talking about his mother’s day, when his expression completely changed. He noticed the small mark on your face, and sprang off the couch, moving to the floor near you.
“What happened?” You didn’t realize what he was talking about immediately, looking down to see if something was wrong you hadn’t noticed. When he gestured toward his own cheek, you remembered.
“Oh yeah, Diana woke up from her nap after lunch and she got a little confused. She thought I was someone else, and that I was trying to get information about her. She slapped me, but it’s really no big deal. She just got confused is all.
“No. No, that most certainly is a big deal.” He said it firmly, like there was no room for argument. But you jumped to yours, and his mothers, defense.
“It’s really not. It’s common when alzheimers or dementia patients wake up not knowing where they are. She didn’t mean anything by it, I read to her, through the door, that poetry collection you mentioned yesterday. I think she liked it, and she felt better after she took her meds, she at least got some more rest.”
“That’s great- but I don’t want you to feel trapped here. If something isn’t alright, you can tell me, and I would understand if you wanted to leave.” You nodded to let him know you understood, and then followed it up with leaning back against the front of the couch and a small smile.
“You know if I didn’t know any better I’d think you were trying to get rid of me.” Your attempt to lighten the mood was not really helping.
“No!-Believe me, that is not what I was saying. I really appreciate you helping my mom and I out, but I just want you to be here because you want to be.”
“Well thank you, Spencer. But it’s really ok. It doesn’t even hurt, I promise.” You made a small cross-your-heart motion to convey the truth of your sentiment.
Now, why don’t you help me with these books, while I switch out laundry.” you pat him on the shoulder as you walked by. The first time the two of you had touched since the hug he thought had made you uncomfortable. His sweater was soft under your skin, his shoulders firm. But you kept walking, you were on the clock after all.
When you walked back you started gathering the restored books to put back, and tried to get back to work related conversation, or at least tangentially related to work. “Alright, towels are in the dryer, and I’m sorry I can’t quite figure out what your system is for these books. Could you point me in the direction of where these go?” You gestured to the small stack in your arms, and he immediately got up.
“It’s a combination of the dewey decimal system, and a little bit moved around based on sentimentality, I can put these away. Thank you again for helping me dry them. I know it’s not really in your job description.” Ok has no one helped this man? He is very over appreciative of the little things, and he looks like he’s scared you’ll run away any second. It’s sweet, but my god.
“I like to be helpful, and there was also a little selfish motivation. I was curious about your taste in books. I mean you have so many, I had to be a little nosey.” You kind of attempted to add a flirtatious tone, but you were still hoping this crush would go away. This was a job, and it would be nice if you didn’t get overly attached to him. Although it was a little late for that.
“I don’t know if i’d call it nosey, it’s nice that you’re curious. What did you think?” He was looking between you and the floor, while blushing. Maybe he liked you too. Wouldn’t that be nice.
“I mean I’m no profiler, but I can take a guess.” He had told you about his job and what it entailed as it required him to be gone for long periods of time. So you kept the flirty undertone, somewhat under the guise of silliness, as you two moved closer together, whether consciously or otherwise.
“I think you read A LOT. Like more than I probably could in a lifetime, and since I know you don’t exactly have excesses of freetime, you have incredible reading comprehension. Speed reader maybe? And some were in a few different languages, so maybe a linguistics major in college? Could be your doctorate. Also the style of the books is contributing to the apartment both functionally and as a decoration. They’re as much comfort objects as they are entertainment. So if I had to guess, you were a shy kid who read a lot.”
“Alright, not bad at all. Although my doctorates are in mathematics, engineering, and chemistry. The languages are easier because I have an eidetic memory. I am a speed reader, as our subconscious minds can process significantly more than our conscious minds.” There was one part consciously left out. He couldn’t have forgotten, he told you so himself. But you couldn’t resist, you wanted to know him. More than accomplishments and accolades.
“And the last part?” He looked upset, and you regretted asking it. It must have really bothered him, really been over the line.
“Yes, I was a big reader as a kid. I was a prodigy so making friends wasn’t easy, and I’m sure you noticed I’m kind of- well- odd.” odd? I mean interesting, or extraordinary sure, but odd wasn’t the word you’d use. It felt so…negative.
“I don’t think you’re odd. The prodigy aspect makes sense though, especially since I know you have 3 doctorates instead of the 1 I assumed you had. Also, if it makes you feel any better I’m kind of speaking from experience. I had more books than friends when I was little too.” You were sharing a small smile as you stood near the wooden shelves, until you heard the bedroom door open, and you stepped away from each other, gaining back the space you lost.
“Hi Diana, did you sleep ok? Is there anything I can get you?” She gently shook her head, confused, but piecing it together as she woke up.
“No, thank you. Spencer, who's your friend? Is she- is she your girlfriend?” She spoke in a hushed tone for the last part, like it was a fun secret between the 3 of you.” He looked like an embarrassed teenager, as he turned toward his mother.
“No, mom. This is Y/N, she’s taking care of you, you guys spent the day together?” She started to understand, but kept giving Spencer a look like she didn’t quite believe him.
After you cooked dinner, something Spencer also tried to convince you wasn’t necessary. Seems like he wasn’t used to being taken care of. You cleaned the kitchen, giving Spencer some time with his mom before you all resigned to bed. You didn’t cross paths again for a few days, with Spencer leaving before dawn for a case.
When he returned a few days later, after many call and text updates on his mothers condition (that occasionally strayed to more personal topics of your life, but you wrote it off as him being polite) he found you and his mom sitting on the couch, like the best of friends flipping through her scrapbook as she told you stories from Spencer's childhood. It was a good exercise to keep her mind sharp, as well as helping her feel more comfortable with you.
“Hi Spencer, how was work?” He looked confused, and he was moving cautiously like he didn’t want to disturb the fleeting moment of happiness. His mother was happy, and the woman he had an ill-advised crush on were spending time together. In his home. It was perfect.
“It was good, it looks like you two had a good day?” His mother nodded her approval, and gestured for him to sit down.
“We did. Your mother read me some of her favorite books. And I didn’t know you could do magic! We were just looking through her wonderful scrapbook.” You directed the last part to Diana, wanting her to know how much you appreciated her trust. Spencer had the same embarrassed teenager look he did the previous day.
“I’m glad you’re home Spencer, but it is late and I’m going to go get some rest.” His mother got up from the couch, and gave him a hug goodnight. Once she had disappeared back into the bedroom, you turned your attention back to Spencer.
“There’s a plate for you in the fridge if you’re hungry by the way.” He still looked surprised, like he couldn’t believe you’d cook for him when he wasn’t even home.
“Thank you, I have to finish a little bit more paperwork, but that sounds wonderful.”
“It’s really no problem, I hope you like it. But before you start your paperwork, I’d like to request a magic trick.” He seemed perpetually confused. And he was. He couldn’t believe you, so happy, so sweet, and so kind. You wanted to see his dorky magic tricks and fix his books and talk to his mom. He knew you were being paid, but it wasn’t that much. Not enough for most people to go this far above and beyond. This was all you.
“You really want to see my magic?”
“Yeah, I’ve never seen a magic trick in person, that’s really cool. And it’s a little easier to practice inside than the trapeze.” You both laughed, and his blush grew even deeper. He grabbed a set of cards from a prized spot on his bookshelf, part of the very small space not crowded with actual books.
He offered the cards, fanned out to you and asked you to pick one. You picked the ace of hearts.
He pulled the 2 of diamonds, looking confident for maybe the first time since you met him. “Is this your card?” A part of you really wanted to lie. He looked so happy, but you just muttered a quiet no. He tried again, looking confused as to how he got it wrong the first time. This time he pulled the 6 of clubs
“Is this your card?” You shook your head and he flipped through the deck, cards still facing down. Looking through as if something was missing, his brow furrowing as he did. You could see the moment realization struck, it was as if a cartoon lightbulb appeared over his head.
He leaned toward you and your breath hitched. Once your faces were so close you could’ve leaned forward and made contact, he pulled the correct card from your hair. And when he held it up for you, he smiled when you lit up.
“Is this your card?” He spoke a lot quieter now, and he moved the little bit of hair that had fallen into your face during the trick back over your shoulder. When you thought you’d explode if he stayed this close without moving any closer, he did. His stubble grazed your face as he connected your lips. His were a little bit chapped, but they still felt soft the way he moved them. He sighed when he pulled away and you were worried you did something wrong.
“I shouldn’t have done that. I’m so-so sorry.”
“Why? I mean I know why the situation isn’t ideal, but why are you sorry?”
“Because you are currently relying on me not only for employment but for a place to stay, and I shouldn’t have just put that pressure on you. I lost control, and I’m so sorry. I understand if I made you uncomfortable.” He sat back down on the couch, but this time you followed him. You really liked him, even though you’d only known him a couple of days.
“You didn’t make me uncomfortable. I don’t feel pressured, and I didn’t kiss you back because I’m currently staying in your house. I kissed you back because I wanted to, I’ve been wanting to kiss you since you hugged me when I accepted the job.” He finally looked back at you, with those big brown puppy dog eyes, and you grabbed his hand.
“Really? Are you sure you want that?”
“Certain. Spencer, I really like you. And if you like me too, then we can talk about how that would work logistically. We could figure something out. If you don’t want that or don’t feel the same way, we can forget about this. We never have to talk about it again, and we can just keep it professional.”
“No!” He rushed out, his voice cracking a little. He cleared his throat, straightened his posture and started again. “I don’t want that, I do like you too. And I definitely want to figure this out.” You squeezed his hand and smiled. He liked you too. It felt so high school, but that made you want to either squeal with joy, or tackle him onto the couch.
You settled on a cool neither, instead giving him a kiss on the nose as you got up from the couch. And he watched you, hesitantly letting your hand go, like he thought you said all that just to leave.
“We are definitely having that conversation…tomorrow. You haven’t eaten and, cute as you may be, you look like you haven’t slept in days. So we will finish this tomorrow, whenever you’re ready.” You pulled his plate from the fridge, placing it in the microwave so that he could eat something. He looked at you like you were the sun, the moon, and the stars.
“You think I’m cute?”
“Yes Dr. Hot stuff, I think you’re cute. I thought we just went over this?” He blushed even more at the doctor comment. You looked at each other until the timer snapped you out of it. You set the plate on the table and wished him a goodnight, as you moved to the guest bedroom. You couldn’t sleep, you were so excited. But you wanted him to be in the best possible headspace, this was a big decision.
When Spencer finished his dinner and his paperwork he moved to the master bedroom, still buzzing with excitement. When he closed the door his mother stirred. She spoke quietly, still half asleep.
“Spencer, you really should take Y/N out. I think she has a little crush on you. And you deserve someone who can take care of you.” Then she drifted back to sleep, but Spencer was still beaming.

Rain to his Fire (Modern! Daemon Targaryen x Female Reader) (Non Canon 80s Au) (18+)
Read Chapter 5 here// Series Masterlist
Chapter 6
Summary: Your anger gets Daemon in a bit of a trouble. Something really awful is going on at the king's landing wellness center.
Warning: 18+, smutty scenarios, crude language, boring chapter, description of Statutory rape, discussion of mental health (it's a fic based in a mental health facility), mention of physical assault, the fic would contain several mentions of several disorders like mpd, did etc, if something triggers you don't read, smoking.
You found yourself idly picking at your cuticles as you waited for Dr. Vis to enter his office. You had been called in for a discussion and your gut told you that it was about Daemon. Despite working at the center for two years now, you couldn't even remember the last time the two of you had shared a full sentence but since Daemon had arrived you were on his radar for some reason.
As you heard him entering the office, you stood up to greet him. However, Dr. Vis gestured for you to sit back down,
"You are Y/m/n's daughter, correct?" Dr. Vis asked you as you sat down. You nodded, feeling a rush of emotions at the mention of your mother “She was a lovely lady, always so polite and warm” he commented but you couldn't really tell whether he was genuine with his compliment or not. You didn't think of him as a person who'd remember a custodian of all people.
“Yeah” you smiled as you didn't really know what else to say.
"There's something I'd like to discuss with you about Daemon" Dr. Vis said, and your heartbeat quickened at the mention of his name.
“Daemon-?” You questioned, much to your surprise your voice came out really firm.
“He's been under my care for years now, but I have never seen him so violent as he was with those guards” you gulped as he said that “I visited them and they confessed to me why Daemon attacked them” he continued,
“Why?” You asked him, pretending as if you didn't know the reason already.
“Because of you” he paused for a moment before continuing “those men perhaps said something nasty about you, which i assure that there will be repercussions for such a behavior but that is the reason Daemon attacked them, now if there's one thing i am certain of is that Daemon doesn't do anything that would not serve him in return” he continued
“I'm sorry i don't understand what you mean” you responded as you tried to keep your voice neutral.
“I'll be plain with you y/n, are you offering him services beyond your duty as a custodian?” Your eyes widened in shock as he questioned you plainly. The implication of the question left you feeling embarrassed and angry at the same time.
“Absolutely not, I take my work seriously and always treat patients as such” you mumbled confidently, the confidence came from the anger you felt at his insinuation, even though he wasn't completely wrong.
There have been touching and inappropriate conversations between you and Daemon but it was all over last night, you didn't want to get involved with him again especially if he was entertaining the likes of Shyla as well.
“Daemon is a borderline psychopath y/n, you must know what that means right? He's charming and highly manipulative but everything he does is for his own gain” Dr. Vis said with utmost conviction. Daemon might have been an arse but a part of you knew he was far from being a psychopath with no empathy for others.
“Why does he call himself a dragon?” You asked him so Vis let out a laugh but it wasn't the sort of laughter that could bring anyone any comfort or understanding, on the contrary it chilled you to the bone.
“Because he's sick, why did you ask?” he mumbled, his tone was dismissive.
“It's just I found feathers in his room and when I questioned him he told me that they belonged to him”
The smile on Viserys's face disappeared as you mentioned that, a part of you knew you shouldn't have said anything to him, what if he hurts Daemon more? You felt the sinking feeling in your gut for letting the words slip out of you in nervousness.
“Feathers you said?” He looked at you confused so you nodded “He must have hidden those in his belongings when he came here," Vis repeated, watching you closely. “Guards must not have checked his bag properly. It's just a part of the act, y/n.”
You gave him a nod as he said that.
“Is there anything else you want from me?” he smiled and looked at you intensely as you said that
“Keep me informed if you find other suspicious things in there”
“Sure” you stepped out of his office, rolling your eyes throughout the way. What did he think of himself? And Why did you tell him about the feathers? The guilt was only going to get worse as the day goes on.
As you made your way to room 393, you found the guards doing the thorough search of his belongings. Great job y/n.
Daemon was already tied up to a chair and handcuffed in the corner of the room.
“Ummm can I proceed?” You asked John so he nodded.
“We are almost done, do you want us to leave him like that? For the sake of your safety?” John asked you so you looked at Daemon, there was a definite smirk on his face that most instantly vanished at your response.
“I'd like that, thank you” you glared at Daemon and you could tell he was confused by the sudden change in your demeanor.
As the guards left you quickly went on to do your work, ignoring Daemon altogether. You were acting like a scorned ex-girlfriend and it took you a minute to realize that.
You heard him sniffing as he looked at you up and down before he spoke to you.
“You're upset..why?” He asked you but you ignored him again and that was enough to rile him up.
“Heyy talk to me alright?” He raised his voice a little bit so you glared at him
“i don't want to talk to you, I don't want to look at you and i don't want anything to do with you” Your words were harsh and your tone was cold, making it clear that you wanted nothing to do with him and that was your plan but then his eyes flickered and you could see that he was hurt by your response.
“Why? I apologized yesterday, you forgave me-” you cut him off mid sentence before he could go on,
“And then you decided to fuck Shyla”
As your words sunk in he snickered at first, went quite for a moment, and then cracked his neck in disbelief.
“Bravo..I was wondering why I was being raided first thing in the morning. What did you say to Vis , hmm?” he asked, voice full of hurt and confusion. You knew he felt betrayed about you going behind his back.
“It was a slip of the tongue. I didn't mean it” you defended yourself and though it was true that you didn't share the information just to hurt him, you knew he'd feel hurt anyways.
“Oh why don't you accept it that you did it on purpose?” he asked you, his tone remained loud and snarky.
“Perhaps I did, now we are even” you retorted so he chuckled again.
“Oh are we? You can't hurt me because you're hurting, isn't that what you said yesterday”
“Don't turn this around on me alright? You don't get to be upset with me” your eyes welled up as you felt the surge of emotions coursing through you.
“I share those things with youuu, I choose to do so, because I believe in you or I did at least”
You didn't answer him as he said that. What were you supposed to say? You shouldn't have told Dr Vis about the feathers, you regretted doing it as soon as you had opened your mouth but you felt on the spot in that moment, what you had seen last night coupled with the nervousness you felt under Dr Vis’s suspicion made you feel so angry and you took it out on him. These days you were doing things you never thought you'd do. He really was driving you insane.
“You know what your problem is?” He asked as he suddenly rose up from the chair, breaking the rope and the handcuffs in one quick motion as if it didn't take a single ounce of strength.
He stepped closer, until you felt like he was practically looming over you so you crossed your arms defensively,
“Tell me, what do you think my problem is?” you challenged him
“Your problem is that you don't listen or ask for explanations, you just assume things.. you're so fucking judgemental..you saw her visiting me and just assumed that we were fucking in here” He spoke angrily, his jaw clenching, teeth gritting, face contorted with rage.
“I don't care if you're fucking her”
Now that was purely a lie which even you couldn't deny.
“Huh then why are you acting as if I have broken your heart?” he asked, voice dripping with sarcasm.
“I am-” you didn't even know how to justify your behavior. What was it to you if he was sleeping with other women? He wasn't your boyfriend.
“I don't want to be a part of this ..i can't..I can't.. feel this way that I am feeling, I don't like it ..it's hurting me and I don't like it” you trailed off, barely able to form a sentence that would actually make sense to him.
“I didn't ask you to come to me, to tend to me, to steal for me, i didn't ask for those things” his eyes welled up as he spoke, he felt as if he was losing you forever and it didn't feel right at all but if he was hurting you so badly then he didn't want to add to your misery either. If he was becoming too much to deal with he would not force you to be his friend or more.
“Right”
You looked at the shredded ropes and the broken handcuffs as you reached for them to clean it up. How did he have such marvelous strength? A part of you really wanted to believe that he was something extraordinary, but then he was also not well, he was a patient.
“We didn't fuck..i didn't touch her like that” he mumbled suddenly and your heart skipped a beat, you couldn't tell whether he was lying or not but then he really didn't have any reason to lie to you.
“Why else would she come to see a man who had supposedly harmed her?” You asked him as you grabbed your cart so he chuckled.
“She wanted to confirm a rumor she had heard at the hospital and she told me why she had lied that day”
“Why did she lie?”
“Why do you care? You didn't want to be a part of this right?” he mumbled sarcastically so you bit on your cheek and nodded.
“Right”
With a heavy heart, you silently turned around and left his room. You had made such a big fuss, and for what? You couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt for how you had behaved. Not only had you made the entire situation worse by telling Dr. Vis about the feathers, but you had also acted like a terrible friend and betrayed Daemon's trust in the process.
During Lunch hour he caught you staring at him, he knew you wanted to talk to him, it's not as if you had many friends here, he was starting to think that he was the only person you had genuinely befriended in a long time, your aversion to men wasn't just limited to sex but the whole idea of intimacy in general.
Later that night when you went to bed you felt extremely upset about the whole situation and you really missed him, perhaps you shouldn't have jumped to conclusions so easily, eyes can be deceiving and a part of you trusted him when he said that he didn't sleep with her..
As you heard the knock on the door, you quickly leaped out of your bed and ran towards the door but composed yourself before opening the door.
“You know if you apologize I will forgive you” he mumbled as he walked past you and pulled down his hood. You knew you owed him a genuine apology for how you had acted this morning.
"Daemon, what are you doing?" you asked, shocked as you watched him frantically open every drawer in your room, rummaging through your possessions. You didn't see what he had taken, but you knew he had taken something and tucked it away in his pocket.
“Apologize darling” he mumbled as he turned around to look at you so you crossed your arms.
“Im sorry, I didn't mean to rat you out..that's not the kind of person I am .. usually” you looked down as you spoke, your heart felt heavy and he could sense your discomfort so he walked towards you.
“Why did you go into his office?” he asked, his tone now gentle.
“He called me in, Darryl and Jacob had told him that you attacked them because they had made a joke about me” Daemon was silent for a moment as he processed your words.
“You know about that?”
“I heard last night, that's why I wanted to see you, and then I saw Shyla and assumed -”
“That I was fucking her.. and that made you upset” he was smiling as he finished his sentence so you rolled your eyes.
“Yeah whatever, he asked me if I was offering you uhhh bed services or something for you to get so upset about a stupid joke-”
“Joke? They were insulting you..these people that you work with and trust so blindly”
“I don't trust them..I don't trust men ..i know how ugly they can be..but you can't attack people-” you responded as you felt a sense of frustration.
“I can and I will again if I hear anyone talking filth about you”
His words were bold and confident, and they didn't fail to have an impact on your already budding feelings. As he spoke, you found yourself staring at him, unable to look away. Despite everything that had happened this morning, there was still a connection between the two of you that you couldn't ignore.
“And why is that?” you asked him so he grabbed you by the shoulders as he pulled you even closer.
“Because you're my friend sweetheart..I care about you, is that enough?”
“You can't attack people Daemon” as he attempted to pull away from you you reached for the collar of his hoodie and for a moment he was taken aback,
“I appreciate that you did..that you care enough about me but I don't want you to get hurt again, okay?” he couldn't help but smile as you said that. You worried about him, that much he knew.
“Alright, next time I'd hurt them less enough that they're not hospitalized” he said as a matter of fact so you let go of him, not knowing whether to reprimand him for being so stubborn or kiss his stupid face for being so protective of you.
“What did you steal from my drawer?” you asked to cut the tension so he stepped away from you.
“I'll show you woman..calm your gorgeous tits” he mumbled with a grin evident on his face, his words making you feel flushed instantly.
“Other men can't make a joke but you can talk to me this way?” you mumbled to hide your giddiness.
“I only do it because you allow me to, the day you'd ask me to keep my mouth shut for real, I'd never go against your words”
He always knew how to warm his way into your heart again, didn't he?
“If it's a scissor or a knife you better give it to me right now” you mumbled to steer the conversation again so he smiled and pulled out the scissors from his pocket, his hand wrapped around the handle, a part of you feared for his safety, he definitely was unpredictable and unstable at times.
“Daemon give me that please?” You mumbled softly as you stepped closer to him so he chuckled lightly.
“Ohh you beg so sweetly darling..but don't bother I'm not going to hurt myself i promise or you for that matter” he assured you and it did make you feel better but you still wanted to snatch that scissor away from him.
“Then why do you have it?” you questioned him softly so he smiled again.
“Trying to prove a point”
You couldn't even understand what he was trying to do so the shock and fear you felt was unimaginable when he started to chop away those beautiful locks of hair on his head.
“Daemon– “
“Calm down darling I can hear your heartbeat it's so loud…it's just hair …they grow back”
“Why are you doing this Daemon?” your eyes teared up as you questioned, a part of you felt awful seeing him chop those silver locks so carelessly.
“Just told you, I'm trying to prove a point”
“What point?”
“You wanted me to show you, that night you asked me to open your eyes so that's what I'm going to do”
“Cutting your hair is going to accomplish what?”
“You'll see”
Once he was done cutting his hair in a haphazard manner he walked towards you and grabbed your hand as he went down on his knees.
“Touch them” he spoke firmly but his tone was demanding and soothing at the same time.
“Why?”
“So you'd know they're real, that I'm not fooling you with a wig”
You hesitated for a moment but eventually wrapped your fingers around his scalp. He closed his eyes as you ran your fingers through his locks, and you heard him purr softly when you pulled on the roots lightly to confirm that they were indeed real.
“What now?”
You asked him softly so he chuckled, as his eyes raked over your inflamed cuticles he brought each finger to his lips and kissed on them one by one as if his kisses would soothe the burning sensation.
“Now you wait” you sighed deeply as he said that.
“Why don't you just come and see me when you're turned into a dragon?” you asked him softly so he sighed.
“It doesn't work that way, sometimes I can only grow my wings, the other times my hair is the only thing to transform, at times I'm able to build fire with my fingers but I lack the control, it comes and goes instantly, the reason why I have been so confused all my life is because everyone around me made me believe that I was losing my mind and at times i thought so too but not anymore” he mumbled, his voice laced with frustration but you could tell that he was choosing to trust you again with his secrets and mysteries. Or his delusions.
“You can..build fire?” you asked him so he nodded again as if it wasn't the craziest thing in the world.
Could that be the reason why he was burning like a furnace all the time?
“Okay, then I wait” you mumbled softly so he rose up slowly and hugged you tightly before he left that night.
However two days passed and his hair still looked the same, it looked really awful and you could tell that he was getting antsy about it as well. He clearly felt embarrassed and frustrated but dragon baby or not, you were going to help him get through this thing. Perhaps this was a coping mechanism for him , something he had developed as a child to cope with the loneliness he had surrounding him..
Three days later you finally dragged him out of his room and took him to the groomer in the facility to get his hair fixed. You liked how the longer hair looked on him, it made him stand out and if you were being honest with yourself it gave him a distinct aura but as he said it was just hair and it would grow back, at least he wasn't hurting himself.
As you assisted him back to his room he seemed a bit gloomy so you stepped inside and closed the door to offer him some comfort.
“Why are you sad?” You asked him so he sighed.
“Now you think I'm full of crap” he muttered, as if he was expecting you to judge him and call him a lunatic.
“I don't think that way” you responded.
“You certainly don't think very highly of me” he mumbled, his eyes seeming as if he was close to tearing up.
“That's not for you to decide” you told him confidently so he snickered at first but as you walked towards him and wrapped your arms around his waist to embrace him, you could see his defenses breaking down. “Besides, I don't care whether you're a dragon or not, I don't care whether or not you can turn into an otherworldly creature. I just care about you and I don't want you to get hurt” you mumbled as you looked up at him and you could tell he wasn't really expecting that, he was expecting you to make fun of his delusions and not be such an angel about it.
“So it's not a problem for you if I am lying about it?” he asked curiously so you gave him a smile.
“I'm sure you think you're not lying, it's real in your head and i believe that”
As you laid down in your bed that night, your mind was filled with mixed emotions. You couldn't stop thinking about the situation, and you found yourself feeling guilty about what you had done by telling Vis about Daemon's supposed feathers. You knew that you had made a huge mistake, and you really wished that you were capable of taking it back somehow but it wasn't possible.
The next morning as you dragged your cart into his room, you quickly beelined towards the bedside lamp, it was dark in his room and you heard the shower running already, which was a surprise as he often slept until late..
As he came out of the bathroom you had your back turned towards him so he smiled,
“I want to show you something” he mumbled in his “I'm sexy first thing in the morning voice” so you shrugged in response.
“Put your clothes on first..or just a cloth would do” you requested him so he grabbed a trousers from the closet and put it on.
As you turned around, you were greeted by a shocking sight - there he stood with a long, wet, silver mane cascading down his shoulders, almost reaching his waist.
As he approached, you took involuntary steps behind but there wasn't much room for you to hide. Was that a wig? How did he find it if it was? It can't be real right? What would you do if it was real? What would that even mean? You found yourself going through an existential crisis at the moment.
As you hit the wall, he placed his arms around you to entrap you between him and the wall, and he smelled divine, which wasn't really fair to you, you must smell like cleaning chemical products all the time, you thought..
You finally dared yourself to look up at his head, particularly at those long luscious thick hair.
“Touch it” he asked you as he let out a whispering voice so you shook your head, your eyes already teary so he grabbed your hand and brought it closer to his head before he leaned down and pressed his nose into your neck like always.
“Touch them please” your fingers eventually clutched around the roots of his hair and you sighed, from the relief but also the weirdness of the situation.
“Pull” he whispered in your ear so you closed your eyes and pulled on his strands slightly to confirm that his hair was actually real. It was all real.
“How?” You asked him a stupid question so he pressed his head up and looked at you intently.
“You know how, you just don't want to believe it”
“You turned into a dragon last night?”
“For a moment, it was enough”’
“What if I'm crazy.. and this is a hallucination? Just my mind playing tricks on me? What if this is not even real? What if you're not real” you looked up at him with your teary eyes and trembling lips so he tilted his head. He didn't expect you to understand this, not yet, nobody did, but at least you didn't run away from him at the first sign of trouble, last night you were in here telling him that you'd care for him no matter what, even if he was crazy and delusional you showed him that you'd stand by him.
His hands dragged up from the side of your waist and your breaths picked up immediately, his fingers then trailed the side of your curves, making your knees feel weak at the touch.
“Would this feel so hot if you were hallucinating darling?” he asked you as he opened the buttons of your cardigan, your fingers clutched around the waistband of his trousers.
“Daemon-” you whispered his name as his fingers glided over your chest, your nipples became erect quickly, the thin bra you had on did nothing to hide your shame. As he finally touched the aroused clothed nubs you almost combusted.
“It's all real, I'm real and I'm trying to show you who I am” he whispered in your ear as he cupped your breasts in his palms and rubbed his fingers over your bosom.
“How? Why? It can't be real Daemon” you asked him, not in the sense of judgment but disbelief. You found yourself annoyed by your own questions but he smiled instead.
“I don't really know, i wish to know why I am this way and I'll figure it out, that's why I'm here” he told you as he brought his palms up to cup your cheeks, thumb grazing over your lips tenderly.
“I'm sorry I am trying to make sense of it, I don't want to hurt you, I'm sorry if I still seem doubtful but I'm trying” you mumbled almost quietly so he nuzzled his nose against yours to calm you down.
“I know, i know sweet girl, thank you, nobody has tried before, nobody cared enough, just you being here is important for me”
You got on your tiptoes to wrap your arms around his neck to hug him, the scent of your hair calmed him for a moment but then he heard something and he immediately had you pressed against the wall with his hand wrapped around your throat, a moment later the door flung open.
“What's going on over here?” Dr. Vis asked so and you felt Daemon's grip around your neck tighten for a moment before he let you go.
“Your stupid fucking maid can't even do her job properly” he stormed towards Vis so he glared at him, a moment later two guards entered and handcuffed Daemon, you knew if he wanted to get out of their clutches he could have done so easily but he didn't even try.
“Are you alright dear?” Vis asked so you nodded, you knew Daemon pretended to attack you in order to protect your job and your image in front of Vis but you didn't think Dr. Vis was a man fooled so easily.
“Yes, I just need a moment” you mumbled as you caressed your neck and fixed your cardigan as you moved towards your cart to get the fuck out of there.
“What is this hmm?” Vis asked Daemon as he flicked his long hair to mock him.
“For a doctor you surely are dense”
The remark earned Daemon a slap on the cheek and then he was dragged out of the room for his therapy session.
The possibility of Daemon being an otherworldly creature was becoming more probable day by day and you didn't know how to accept it. How was it even possible? Did his mother sleep with a dragon? Or she was a dragon? Dragons existed? There were other human dragon hybrids in the world or he was the only one? Your brain was running a mile per second with all those thoughts in there.
Later that night you somehow were able to sneak into his room, there was a mark on his cheek and it made your heart clench for him,
“This is not right daemon..he can't treat you like this all the time, you're a patient here, not a prisoner” you mumbled softly as you caressed his cheek so he sighed,
“We need to stop seeing each other like this” he mumbled suddenly but it didn't really surprise you, you knew it was becoming dangerous for you both.
“Mmmm I'll stop tomorrow..did he not question the hair?” You asked him so he shook his head.
“He blames it on generalized hypertrichosis, claims that i have had it since birth”
“Even with the condition you can't grow 12 inches in a night-” you said to him and you could see the grin forming over his face “Shut up”
“I didn't say anything”
“You're doing it in your head”
“Head is definitely involved darling”
“Shut uppppp ..” you mumbled again so he grabbed your chin and leaned into you to kiss your forehead.
“They're beautiful” you mumbled softly as you grabbed a lock of his hair between your fingers, they were silky and so shiny as if he had just returned from a hair salon.
“Would you cut them a little bit shorter for me?” he asked you so you hummed in response before you spoke.
“Mmmm I definitely can but you should keep them for a night, I can braid them for you”
He was definitely happier about the prospect of getting his hair tended to so he excitedly sat down on the floor after passing you the brush. You carefully brushed the tangles and braided it from the sides before you tied those ends together in the center, he looked beautiful, you couldn't really take your eyes off him.
For some reason you just knew that this particular memory was going to stick with you for a long time to come.
The next morning, as you went about your morning routine, you couldn't help but feel a sense of curiosity wash over you. When you saw two policemen in the corridor with Viserys, it piqued your curiosity more than ever before. The police had been around the center quite a few times, usually when a patient would run away. You decided to investigate, and made your way towards the cafeteria, hoping to find answers. As you entered the room, you saw Shyla crying, and Dina trying to comfort her so you approached them as well.
“What's wrong?” You asked her so Dina sighed, her response wasn't what you could have expected even in your worst nightmare.
“That previous patient Tanya from 393? Her body was found in the woods nearby last night”

LEGACY ~ 17
LEGACY MASTERLIST
< previous chapter
Word Count: 2,075ish
Summary: You continue to struggle after your rescue, but so do Tony and Steve.
Warnings: mentions of torture and abuse
“D–D–dad…” Your voice was horse and broken.
“Kid,” Tony breathed out in relief as he sat down on the bed.
Tony leaned over and grabbed the nearby pitcher and cup, pouring water into the cup. He slipped a straw from the bedside table into the cup before holding it up to you. You took a long sip of water. The water stung slightly as it rushed down your throat.
“Th—Thank—Thanks.”
“Of course.” He set the cup down.
“I’m—I’m sorry.”
“You have nothing to be sorry about, kid. None of this was your fault.”
Your eyes filled with tears. “I missed you, Dad…”
Tony held his arms out. “May I?” You quickly launched yourself at him, holding him tightly. He reciprocated the tightness as his arms wrapped around you. “I missed you so much, Y/N… I was so scared. We all were… I’m so sorry that we didn’t get to you sooner.”
“...It’s okay…”
“No, it’s not…” He pulled away enough to where his hands were resting on your arms. “And that’s okay. Just… know that I will do anything to earn your forgiveness.” You nodded, glancing nervously around the room. “What can I help you with, sweetheart?”
You flinched. “Please don’t—” Your voice broke. “Please don’t call me that.”
“Call you, what? Sweetheart?”
Once again, you flinched, almost instantly hearing Dr. M’s voice instead of Tony’s. “Sweetheart,” you whimpered. “Please don’t call me that.”
“Okay,” Tony quickly nodded, seeing how much you were shaken up by a simple nickname. “I won’t call you that anymore, I promise.”
“It’s not your fault,” you mumbled. “It’s what… He’s what he called me…”
“Who?”
You shook your head. “I– I– I can’t…”
“When you’re ready.”
“I… I think I want to see the others now.”
“Are you sure?”
“As sure as I’ll ever be…”
Tony waited a moment, like he was waiting for you to change your mind, before heading for the door. You sat there, wringing your hands together as you tried to push down the emotions that were swirling inside you.
“Y/N!” Pepper gasped as she rushed in. She went to hug you but quickly pulled back.
“It’s okay, Pep,” you told her.
“I don’t want to over step–”
“Pep, I need one of your hugs.”
She was quick to hug you and you were quick to hug her back. Tears pricked your eyes as you kept her close while others filed into the room. Pepper was the closest thing you had to a mother, and she knew that. Sensing that you didn’t want to be the first to break the hug, Pepper pulled back. She gave you a small smile before walking around the bed and sitting down beside it. A bouquet of flowers caught your eye as you looked away from Pepper. Steve was the last one to enter the room with a large bouquet of your favorite flowers in hand. His eyes met yours and you quickly averted yours, looking at everyone else’s saddened looks. You closed your eyes and took a deep breath. Everyone’s emotions and thoughts were penetrating your mind, and you were doing your best with pushing them away but it was taking a lot out of you.
“These are for you,” Steve said as he came over and handed you the bouquet.
“Thanks,” you gave him a small as you took the flowers. “My favorite.”
“I know.” The two of you made eye contact again and you noticed that there was something different about the way he was looking at you. Something you couldn’t quite place.
“I’ll take those and put them in a vase for you, Y/N/N,” Wanda offered. You handed them off to her as everyone found a spot to sit or stand around the room.
You could tell that everyone wasn’t trying to stare but they were failing miserably. You reached out and took a hold of Tony’s hand, which slightly surprised him, but he was good with it. Awkward chatter started, everyone trying to have a normal conversation like you had never left. Your ears tuned it out as the emotions in the room grew more overwhelming. The sadness, guilt, anger. It was all becoming too much. You couldn’t stop the tear that escaped and trailed down your cheeks as you began to struggle to breathe. Wanda noticed first.
“Y/N,” she quietly called, moving up to you. “What’s going–” She abruptly stopped speaking when you flinched away from her hand. Everyone was looking at the two of you now.
“Alright everyone,” Tony broke the overbearing silence that had taken over, “I think it’s time to let Y/N rest.”
Everyone said goodbye quickly and left the room. Steve was the last one, very hesitant to leave. He came over, his eyes asking permission to touch you before he leaned down and gently kissed the top of your head.
His thoughts rang loudly in your head, “I don’t want to leave… I can’t let her out of my sight again.”
Your breath hitched at his words as he pulled away. You gave him a dim smile before Steve walked out of the room. Tony rubbed the back of your hand, still having a hold of it.
“Why don’t you try to get some sleep, kid?” Tony suggested. “I’ll be right here the whole time.”
You nodded with a whisper, “alright.”
You laid down and tried to get comfy. Tony helped pull some blankets over you before kissing your forehead. You closed your eyes and wished for the best sleep you’ve had in months.
As soon as sleep swept you away, you were back with HYDRA. Dr. M was towering over you as you were cut and shocked. You were screaming, not having the muzzle on. Dr. M’s cackle echoed through your dream.
Tony, who was on his tablet working on added security, was startled as you suddenly screamed. He jumped up and grabbed your shoulders, quickly noticing that you were still asleep.
“Wake up, Y/N!” He pleaded. You were trying to fight his hold on you as you continued to scream. “Y/N, sweet—honey, I need you to wake up!”
Your eyes flew open and you tried to sit up, Tony preventing you. Your breathing was labored as tears cascaded down your face. Tony was still there, rubbing his hands over your arms.
“It’s okay, Y/N,” he said gently. “I’ve got you.” He pulled you into his chest. “I’ve got you… It wasn’t real… you’re safe now.”
“But… it… was,” you sobbed.
Tony held you tighter. “It’s over. It’s all over… I’ve got you.”
“I… I had given up… I gave up on being rescued… I didn’t believe that anyone would come for me…”
Tony stopped breathing. “What?” You could feel the sadness and guilt grow inside him by tenfold.
“When I found out that I had been there for two months… it put doubt in my mind…” Tony’s thoughts began to spiral out of control. You could sense it, but you were too caught in your own emotional whirlwind to do anything about it. “Dad… just… please don’t leave me…”
“Never.” He kissed the side of your head. “I will always find you. I will always be here… You’re stuck with me. Forever.”
You nodded as Tony laid the two of you down. You took a deep breath and pushed away his emotions from inside of you. Nuzzled into his side, you soon fell asleep, with Tony not long after.
~~~
Tony woke to a light knock on the door. Opening one eye, he noticed that Helen entered the room. He sighed before fully opening his eyes and looking at you, still sound asleep beside him.
“Can we talk?” Helen asked quietly.
“Yes,” Tony replied. “But I’m not leaving her and please don’t make me wake her.”
“I understand. I’ll make this quick. Y/N is still severely dehydrated so I’m going to keep the IV fluids going for a bit longer.” Tony nodded along. “And, as you probably could tell, she’s malnourished. I have a nutritionist creating a meal plan to get her back up to par. Just by looking at her, I can tell that her healing ability is trying its best to get her color back to normal and her strength. The proper nutrition will help speed that along… Has she said anything about the scars yet?”
Tony shook his head. “She’s barely said anything.”
“That is expected. She’ll open up in time.”
“Is there anything you can do to get rid of the scars?”
“My team and I discussed using the cradle on her, but we don’t know how her abilities will react with it. I’m still trying to figure out how she scarred. We will keep you updated. Let us know if there’s anything Y/N needs.”
“Of course, doc. Thank you.”
Helen left as Steve entered. Steve had been so worried about you that he had hardly slept, spending most of the night fighting a punching bag. It honestly didn’t help his worry much to see how Tony was holding you when he entered the room.
“Hey, how–”
“Shhh,” Tony cut Steve off. “She’s still sleeping. She had a rough night.”
Steve sat down on the chair beside the bed, eyes glued to you. “Has she said anything?”
Tony looked at you before turning to Steve with glistening eyes. “She gave up on us.”
“What?” Steve's heart dropped. He wasn’t sure that he had heard Tony correctly. He was hoping that he hadn’t, the guilt was already too much for him to handle.
“She gave up on us coming to rescue her. She was there for months with hope until she had found out how long she had been there… she lost all hope of being rescued.”
“Y/N told you this?”
“Last night. She had a nightmare and then it spilled out of her… How much did she go through before she gave up? Where are these scars from? Why wouldn’t she talk at first? What—”
“They muzzled her.”
“I’m sorry, but I think I misheard you. Did you say that they—they muzzled her?”
“I had to break it off of her myself.” Tony held you tighter. “We can’t change the past, Tony… What are we going to do to help her? I need a plan because I can’t get that image of her flinching away from me with that muzzle on out of my head… So I need a plan. Something to focus on, something to help her.”
“I’m going to have FRIDAY keep an extra careful watch on her. Brain scans, heart rate, the whole works… No one goes through what Y/N did without scars. Both mentally and physically… We… we just need to be patient and willing to do what she needs us to do—whether she’s asked for it or not.”
Steve nodded. “Okay.”
“Did anyone escape?” Steve stayed silent, not meeting Tony’s gaze. “Who escaped, Rogers?
“A Doctor Montgomery… He supposedly was the one who did all… this.” Steve motioned to your scars.
“She can’t know that he got away. She won’t get any better knowing that he’s still out there… I know that I promised her no more secrets, but this—”
“I understand, Tony. I’ve put Sam and Natasha on searching for him. We’ll get him by working together. You can’t go at this alone anymore. That’s part of the reason she was taken.”
“I know… I know…”
“You should go shower and change. I can watch—”
“I can’t leave her.”
“She’s safe with me, Tony. Besides, FRIDAY will immediately inform you if anything happens.”
Tony looked down at you. “Fine.” He carefully pulled away from you and settled you into the bed. “I’m going to be quick.” He got off the bed and pointed at Steve. “Do not let her out of your sight, Cap.” Then he was gone.
Steve sighed, moving his chair closer to the bed before grabbing your hand. “I am so sorry, Y/N/N,” he whispered. “I should have protected you, should have followed you out that door that day… I’m sorry for not doing more… I was terrified when we couldn’t find you. I… I can’t lose you… Y/N… I think I’m in love with you.” He pulled your hand up to his mouth and held a gentle kiss to your knuckles. “I’m going to do everything I can to make this right again… I promise.”
The Situation Room
Bucky Barnes x Reader
Summary: After a mission almost gone wrong, Tony brings back Bucky's former assistant, who is also Bucky's ex. Can they work together without hurting each other? Will the whole truth about their break up finally come out?
Avengers AU where Thanos never happened.
Chapter 9
Warnings: swearing, angst
Radar tossed and turned all night, the session with Raynor had brought back so many memories that she had worked for years to bury.
Even Bucky didn't know many of the details of her past, just the major plot points.
She still believed deep down that she bore some responsibility for all of her troubles. That she could have done something different, or not done something, to have a better outcome.
Bucky didn't know that either and Dr Raynor had only reinforced that belief, making her feel like she was weak and a coward for leaving when things went bad.
At 3am she gave up and took a shower before going to the kitchen for something warm to drink, hoping it would help her relax. Of course, Bucky was already there.
Without a word he poured some of the cocoa he made into a mug for her, topping it off with some whipped cream.
Once she sat down and took a sip, he broke the silence "Are you ok, doll?"
Radar looked at him sadly, shrugging as she nodded "Sure. I'm still here, sometimes that's the best I can do."
Bucky nodded in understanding "Nightmares?"
"Yeah, your shrink is kind of a bitch and brought back a lot of memories I've tried to force down."
"I'm sorry, doll. She's got some tough love act that seems to make things worse before they get better. I shouldn't have asked you to come with me so soon."
Radar shook her head "It's not entirely on her, I have a lot of baggage. Most that you don't even know about."
She sighed "I don't know, it's stuff I've never told anyone else about but maybe that's part of my problem."
He nodded, "I understand, I'm not good at sharing my shit either, don't want to be a burden. But I'm here and I'll listen, anytime you need me. I know I fucked up taking John and Sharon's word about what I thought happened and I won't let that happen again."
She gave him a small smile "Yeah? I guess that's a start."
Then proceeded to fill in all the blanks that he didn't know about her past.
***Flashback***
Her father died in a terrible car accident when she was 7, or so they said. When she got older she realized there was something off about the whole situation, they said his brakes failed but he'd just had his car serviced.
It didn't take long for her mother to finish mourning him and find someone new. Not even a month.
Her half brother, Christopher, was born less than 6 months later. Y/N didn't understand the implications of the details until she was older.
The abuse from her stepfather, Rick, was just as much emotional as it was physical. Until she was 14 and it all came to a head.
It was a Friday night, her mother having a girls night out with her drinking buddies. Rick was working, he was a bartender at the local police watering hole. Her little brother, Christopher- 4 years old, was asleep in his room.
Y/N had a friend sleeping over, Diana, and they were hanging out, listening to music and talking about the boys they liked, Dave and his friend Will. When there was a knock at the front door, Y/N looked thru the peephole and saw the boys in question, making her giggle. She looked over at Diana, nodding with a grin on her face before opening the door.
The boys entered the house, hugging both girls.
"I'm not supposed to have boys over when my mom isn't home but you guys can hang out for a little bit."
They talked and Y/N danced with Dave while Diana and Will chatted on the couch. Dave leaned in to kiss Y/N when the front door slammed open, making her jump. It was Rick, spoiling things like he always did.
Rick looked at them and started yelling at Y/N before chasing Will and Dave out of the house.
When he came back inside, he pushed her up against the wall "Just wait, you little bitch. I'll tell your mom about this and you'll be grounded until you graduate."
He then went into a rant, telling her how awful her father was and how she'd be a loser like him.
Y/N was near tears as Rick threw every vile name and insult he could think of, at her "Why can't you just leave me alone, Rick?"
Rick laughed "I'll leave you alone when you get the fuck out of my house."
She shook her head "It's not your house, my dad bought this house!"
He scoffed "Details. I'm the man of this house now and you goddamn well better listen when I gave you an order. Now. Get. Out! Or I'll pick your ass up and throw you out."
She went to her room and filled her duffle bag with her clothes and her favorite items from the bathroom, she didn't have much. A plush Winnie the Pooh that her father had given her when she was little and a few pictures of him were the most precious. Then she drew a crayon stick figure picture of her and her brother with a heart around it and hid it in his favorite toy truck.
Diana's dad was waiting out front for them, having hurried over when his daughter called him.
Y/N spent the night at her friends house and woke up to hear Rick yelling at Diana's dad, Ernie. Ernie let Y/Ns mom inside to talk but stayed outside with Rick. An hour later her mother left with Rick, after telling Y/N that she wasn't welcome in her home anymore.
After that, Diana's parents took her in and took care of her until she finished school. She graduated high school and completed an associates degree online before enlisting at 19.
She hadn't told Bucky the whole story. He knew she had an abusive stepfather and enabler mother and that she enlisted to get away. She had told him bits and pieces of her childhood but said they had all died in the crash that killed her little brother, Christopher.
Her mother and Rick were still alive, still together to this day. His drinking and cheating were all out in the open because after he had served almost 10 years for DUI manslaughter in Christopher's death and her mother had been waiting for him he knew she would stay no matter what he did. Besides she had a decent job and it was hard for an ex-con to find work. He stayed home drinking and watching TV except when he was out drinking and taking random women to cheap motels. Often returning home reeking of alcohol and other women but his wife said nothing.
Radar's friends back home always gave her the local gossip and her parents were always one of the top 10 subjects.
Her dreams had been full of her little brother and the accident that killed him.
Her mother had been holding Christopher in her lap in the front seat, no car seat, and the airbag broke his neck, killing him instantly. Somehow her mother and stepfather had survived barely harmed but she only hated them more. There had been charges filed and her mother spent a short time in jail but nowhere near what Radar thought she deserved. The jury fell for her crocodile tears, even though Rick went down for it.
It would have been bad enough if the trauma ended there but she often felt like it followed her around, her own black cloud.
Y/N hadn't told Bucky all of the cruel and humiliating things John had done that lead to her leaving the Army. Drugging her wasn't a new thing for John when he helped destroy her relationship with Bucky, except it had been worse.
When they were together, he would drug her, then take advantage of her and let his friends have a turn. She didn't know until she found the pictures, that were so much worse than what Sharon showed Bucky.
John insisted that if she loved him, she would do whatever it took to make him happy.
Their C.O. had waved it all off as normal couple issues that were being exaggerated by a hysterical woman.
Then Radar had been passed over for a promotion that was promised and past due, and another, making her realize that making a complaint about her unit's golden boy had put a target on her back.
After they broke up, she received orders for her new assignment in the Arizona desert and had enough. As soon as she moved there, she spoke to the C.O. about resigning when her current enlistment term ended in 18 months. Her new C.O. was a woman and understood, regretfully accepting her letter of resignation and writing a recommendation for the CIA.
The CIA had been great for her, feeling like she was still serving the people and being useful, until her back injury. She wasn't made for desk duty and hadn't intended for her friendship to become romantic but the thrill of keeping an affair with her supervisor secret gave a similar rush to putting herself in danger in the field. Until they were discovered.
Of course her supervisor was given the opportunity to keep her job and title but Radar, being lower in the pecking order was let go.
Looking back she knew she was lucky that her service record kept them from blackballing her completely and she was recruited by Nick Fury to help rebuild SHIELD into SWORD.
***END Flashback***
Radar was exhausted after spilling the details of her past but she felt somehow lighter for having shared that burden.
Bucky held her as she cried, rubbing her back and murmuring softly into her hair "its ok, doll. I've gotchu. I'm right here."
He pushed down the rage inside him, wishing Steve hadn't pulled him away from Walker. He didn't want Rader to feel it and put it aside to deal with later.
When her crying calmed, Radar looked up at Bucky with red eyes "You see? Raynor is right. I'm a coward who runs away when things get rough."
Bucky shook his head "No! That's not true. You tried to fix things, make them better and when it didn't work you were brave enough to walk away and start over. Sounds like real courage to me."
They talked for a short while longer until Radar fell asleep against his shoulder. He tried not to chuckle when he heard her soft snores and stretched his legs out before falling asleep himself.
Chapter 3: Narcotics, care and family
Spencer's Point of View
She figured out my narcotic problem.
She didn’t ask a single thing, she respected and is supportive. I love how she takes care of me. I remember when she put the pisces together, I was in pain and was so rude to her, I wonder if someday I will deserve her.
—----------------
I was having a bad day, a bad week, and treated my friend in a way she didn’t deserved.
“I am sorry, I am really sorry”
She kept looking at me, in her door. I felt gray again, I felt worse than I was feeling.
“You never told me your name.”
“What?” Confusion was spread across my face.
“You never told me your name Sugarpout. We talk for months, but we have never said our names, we bonded, became friends and never had asked for names.”
She was right, now that she said it… I think about her constantly, I know so many things about her as she knows about me, and we never asked, it never even crossed my mind, it was so easy to be around her, I craved the company so much that I never remembered this little detail, such an important detail.
“My name is Spencer, Reid. Spencer Reid. What is your name?”
—----------------------
In this instant I had major head and back pain, thanks to the last unsub. At least we got him.
“Hey Sugarpout, I did a lot of research, and you basically can't take any painkillers meds. But luck you, I have a few tricks, and I’m gonna take care of you.”
Say the girl owner of my soul, invading my home, isn't she satisfied with invading my dreams and thoughts?
“Would you prefer to lay on the couch or in your bed?”
“Couch” I will have so many problems controlling my imagination and body responses if we get to my bedroom now.
“Leave your head like… this”
She adjusts me, and starts rubbing my forehead with some oil. I love her touch. I closed my eyes, starting to relax and feel better with the delicate massage she was giving, so caring, so… everytime was harder not loving her the way I do love. The selfish way I love. Wanting her all for myself.
—-------------------------------------
Y/N’s Point of View
“May I open a little of your shirt?”
He silently agrees, my hands slowly travel off his forehead, the sides of his face, his neck… starting to open a few buttons so I can reach and massage his shoulders more properly. My fingers do their magic putting pressure on his skin, feeling the tension slipping away second by second, every time my skin runs his skink, more comfortable is set between us.
“Feeling better?”
“You always make me feel better.”
“You should rest a little, I can keep you company if you want.”
“I would love you staying here with me.”
And so I did, I stayed for the whole day. Light music, reading, healthy snacks and lots of water, just enjoying our time together.
“I am going to see my mom this weekend.” He pauses, pressing his lips in a flat line raising his eyebrows a little looking at me as if considering his idea. “I… you know… my mom… would you… do you want to… go with me?”
“To see your mom?”
“Yeah. I mean, you don’t have to. I know she… well…” He laughs without humor. “It wouldn't be your first time seeing her, but I know…”
“Sugarpout, I would love to go with you, I want to go. I like your mother.”
He relaxes, and looks at me, in a way I don’t know how to describe, I just know that it makes me feel good, better, makes my skin light up and the butterflies alive in my whole body.
—------------------------------------
Spencer’s Point of View
Adoration, love… There are not enough words to describe my feelings for her, for Y/n, my Sugar, as I am her Sugarpout.
She made a few things to eat, and she called the doctor in the clinic to know if it was ok and what she could or couldn't make. So now we have a lot of cookies, cupcakes, cakes and brownies. She made sure to have enough for everyone in the clinic, and a side a special treat to my mom, in a special box.
“Hey mom”
“Ah, Spencer”
“Hi Mistress Reid. It's good to see you again, we bring a little something for you.”
“A present?”
“Yes, a special present for you Mistress Reid”
My mother's face lights up a little when opening the box. That is my Sugar, always bringing light to every place she goes… Maybe someday she will be truly mine.
“Oh, dear, you didn't have to…”
“It was a pleasure, as you can see, I put phrases from a few of your favorite books, so you can read and devour the words.”
“That is very thoughtful of you. Thank you.”
They got to talk, a lot of talking, my mother even showed my baby pictures, to my embarrassment. But I couldn't feel that bad when they smiled so happily, the womens of my life.
“You are a very wise women”
Sugar compliments my mother, she is always so gentle and true. She is called by one of the doctors and excuses herself.
“I see the way you look at her. She is a good girl.”
“She is.”
“You should put a ring on her, a rare creature like her… is meant to be taken care of, I can see she cares about you.”
“We are friends, mom.”
“A mother knows Spencer. A mother always knows”
“Hey Sugarpout, sorry about that, the doctor just wanted to be sure about the ingredients. We don't want anyone having allergic reactions. Care to keep teaching me Mistress Reid?”
“I would love.”
“Once a professor always a professor.”
She pays attention to everything we say, to the whole conversation, until it is time for us to go.
—-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Y/N’s Point of View
Cramps.
The every month torture that people blessed with uterus go trough.
I don’t have the will to move, everything hurts, I am tired all the time and soon there will come the blood. I am thinking about calling in sick, or just losing the day… but I do need the money. Oh God, why wasn't I born a billionaire?
A knock at my door and a voice take me out of my sad thoughts.
“Sugar? Are you okay? Haven't heard of you yet today, I am starting to get worried”
“No, nothing is ok” I make a crying voice, to add more drama.
“May I come in?”
“Yes, use your key, I don't want to move”
Spencer cautiously entered my place, looking around, the view was terrible. I am swollen, feeling tired, dark circles under my eyes, some pimples… and even worse, I am in pain.
“What is wrong Sugar?”
“I am awful and everything hurts.”
Spencer comes closer and hugs me, the warmth of his hand is in the exact place, making the terrible pain more supportable.
“Oh, don't you dare move your hand. It is the perfect spot.”
“As my Sugar wish. Now. Can you tell why everything hurts? What is the problem?”
“The problem is that seems like the Devil is using needle high heels, knife needle high heels, made a fireplace and is dancing around my uterus.”
“So… cramps?”
“You say it like that because you ain't the one feeling it.”
“Oh, no Sugar. I am sure this is really horrible.”
He places his warm lips on my forehead in a tender kiss.
“There is anything I can do to make you feel better?”
“Just keep your hands in place. It is good.”
“Orgasm. It can help with the pain. When you orgasm, your body releases chemicals like oxytocin and dopamine that act as painkillers.”
“Are you saying that next time you are in pain I should give you an orgasm?”
“What?”
I laugh a little about his comment, poor Doctor Reid, someday I may kill him out of embarrassment.
“It is ok Sugarpout. I am just not in the mood for any sex activity. I am swollen and ugly.:
“You are as beautiful as ever. You are always beautiful”
“Thank you Sugarpout, you are always so gentle.”
We stay a moment in silence, just in each other's arms, but he has to break this moment even if neither of us want to.
“Are we not going to work today?”
“We are going to work today.”
“Good, cause I kinda just passed by to see how you were doing. I got to go to the office. But, if you want, I can call back and see if I can take the day off…”
“No, no Spencer, you should go to work.”
“I really don't mind staying if you want me too.”
“I will be fine. Go make the others life more sweet Sugarpout”
I feel him relaxing against me, and stopping holding me really slowly.
“Do not worry, you are going to have a lot of time to take care of me. It can last fifteen days, ten days, a week… my cramps ain't regular. In the end it will be all fine.”
“Hope you get better as soon as possible.”
“Good work Sugarpout”
And then, he really has to go.
—---------------------------------------------------------------
Spencer’s Point of View
I am trying to concentrate on the job, but my mind always comes back to my Sugar, I know she said it will be fine, and she can be a little dramatic sometimes, but it does not change my concern.
“Ahn… hey Emily, what do you usually do to alleviate your period cramps?”
I did a lot of research about the subject, everything I could find, but with experience I learned that just reading isn't enough and every human experiences stuff in different ways.
“What? Where did it come from?”
“What am I losing?”
Emily is uncertain about answering Morgan, why he always shows… well he did grow up with sisters.
“I was asking Emily, how could someone alleviate period cramps.”
“Is this about the door girl?”
“What girl?”
“Sweet girl, that lives right across Pretty Boy and has his keys.”
“You’re kidding me!”
“Ask him.”
“Well, Spencer?”
“Yes, she is my neighbor, she is a really nice girl, and she has an extra key to my apartment.”
“If she is just a neighbor, why the cramps questions?”
“She is also a friend.”
“A very dear friend.”
“You should invite her to go out with us. I will love to know the girl occupying the Doctor Reid thoughts”
“Are you going to answer my question or just amuse yourselves with the new information?”
“Ok, I may have a few tips, but you will need to see what works for her, it isn't always the same.”
“And I can give you a few tips on how to survive this period, cause women can be savage, and I ain't talking savage in a nice way.”
Prentiss reprimanded Derek with a look and a little hit in his head.
I paid very close attention to what they had to say, so I was more prepared when I came back home, and being able to take care of Sugar, my Sugar. Doing my best to make her the more comfortable as possible, and the smile bright in her face was the best part of my whole day.
Chapter Ten
Saturday had rolled around quicker than Zilla would have liked. His first go round in therapy was mandated, though he did learn a couple things he didn't take much from it. The therapist they paid him with wasn't a good match and they wouldn't let him swap. But this time his therapist was someone chosen by a loved one. While he trusted Kamille's decision he wondered how this therapist would be. She had told him that he could take Moriah but with everything that's transpired between them, he figured it wouldn't be a good idea to take her.
The suede sofa felt good under him, he rubbed his left hand back and forth on the arm of the sofa. Dr. Barnes sat in the matching chair across from Zilla awaiting the answer to his question.
“If you don't wanna answer, we can circle back to it at the end of the session, Mr. Fatu.”
At the sound of his name, Zilla's eyes moved from the sofa to his new therapist.
“Can you ask it again?”
“Sure,” Dr. Barnes chuckled, “What landed you on my sofa?”
Zilla's eyebrows rose for a second. “You want the long answer or the short answer?”
Again, he chuckled. “For the sake of time, since we have a shorter session today you can go ahead and give me the short version.”
“Short version is Pops died when I was little and I just found out I had a kid, they dead too.”
“I’m sorry to hear about your father and your child. Which one would you like to talk about first, Mr. Fatu?”
Zilla scratched his face, chuckling. “You can call me Zilla, man. You ain’t gotta call me mister. But uuuh I guess Angel.”
Dr. Barnes nodded, giving the younger man his undivided attention. “Zilla it is. Angel is your child, I’m assuming. Boy or girl.”
“Boy.”
“How old?”
He rubbed at his nose, deflating against the suede material. “I guess you could say 12 week or sum’ like that.”
Dr. Barnes studied his reaction with a slight brow raise. “Tell me about the circumstances.”
“Uuh, my girlfriend she found she was pregnant after I got locked up and when she was 12 weeks I think, her mom made her,” he paused rubbing his hands together, “She made her get rid of the baby.”
Dr. Barnes wrote a few things down.
“You said that you are just finding out about his passing so no one told you when it happened. How did that make you feel that no one told you?”
He sat quietly for a few minutes then shrugged. “I mean I was pissed at first that they hid it from me.”
“And now?”
“I get it. They weren’t not tellin’ me at first cause they ain’t know how but they were gonna tell me. Then when that bi–that lady did what she did, they felt like it was Fat place to tell me and she was scared to tell me.”
Dr. Barnes wrote a few things then looked up with a smile on his face. “Fat?”
“Oh, Moriah, that’s my lady.” He informed him with a proud smile on his face. “Wanna see her?”
Dr. Barnes chuckled out his response then sat his notepad aside so he could lean up. He took Zilla’s phone, a smile on his face while he studied it for a moment then gave it back.
“She's beautiful. Who else is in the picture?”
“Thank you. Our niece and my mama,” he said, glancing at the screensaver before putting it away.
“Have you and your mom talked about the circumstances with Angel?”
“Not really no. Like for a second but nothin past that. I wanted Rye to be involved when we talked and she's finally off today.”
Dr. Barnes smiled. “Today is the day then. How does that feel? From the picture it seems you and your mother have a good relationship.”
His smile was back again. “Yeah, we do. It got better when I got out. I feel kinda nervous.”
“Tell me about that.”
“Cause me and Fat talked to each other about it and I talked to one of my brothers but it's different with our parents. Well my mama and her dad.”
“You think you're gonna hear something that might make you emotional or you think she's gonna tell you something that you and Moriah may not already know?”
“Is both a good answer?”
Dr. Barnes leaned up, resting his arms on his thighs. “There's no right or wrong answer. Whatever answer you give is the answer, Zilla.”
He nodded slowly stroking his chin hair. “Then both.”
“It's okay to feel nervous or apprehensive to talk about something as long as you do it. Going through with it is the focus. Make sure you're open to listening to what your mom says and that you get whatever questions out. If you feel like you might forget, type them up on your phone.”
“Yeah … maybe, man.”
Checking his watch, Dr. Barnes steepled his fingers, pointing his index fingers at Zilla. “You almost made it through your first session. How do you feel about making this a regular meet up? I promise if you're not comfortable, I'm okay with that. You can't heal and grow properly if you're not comfortable.”
Zilla thought for a second, making the commitment of talking about his feelings every other week made him nervous. The question echoed in his head a few times then his mind went to his relationship and his family.
“I'm coo’ with that.” He answered with a small smile. “We can do that.”
“Great, great. So I'm going to give you a little homework.” Dr. Barnes chuckled at his frown. “You act like I'm about to assign you geometry homework or something. It's something easy and you don't even have to write anything down.”
Zilla laughed a little sitting back up. “My bad. Homework ain't ever been my thang.”
“Mine either,” he chuckled. “Your homework is for you to plan something for you and Moriah to celebrate Angel. Doesn't have to be extravagant unless you want it to be. Just something. Sound good?”
Zilla scrunched his face a little. “Like something fa kids?”
“Whatever you think is appropriate to celebrate you and Moriah's son. Something that you can look back on and always think of him. Okay?”
“Aight, I can do that.”
“I know you can. I’ll see you in two weeks, can't wait to hear about what you planned.”
After therapy, Zilla stopped by a floral shop and a bakery he passed on the way home. He eased into their apartment, sat her gifts on the coffee table then followed her voice to their bathroom. Moriah rapped along to her music as she finished up her skin care routine, Zilla stood in the doorway watching her with a smile on his face.
“That's yo shit, huh?” He laughed seeing her jump. “How you scary listenin to thug ass music?”
“You're gonna give me a heart attack, Isayah!”
“Naaaah,” he laughed, going to give her a kiss, “You'll be aight.”
Pulling him closer, she kissed him a few more times and hugged him. “Oh whatever. How'd it go?”
“Went good, Auntie picked a good one.”
Moriah clapped excitedly then grabbed one of her moisturizers from the counter. She squeezed a little bit into her hand. “So you're gonna go back then?”
“Yeah, ima go back, Fat.”
“Tell me about it.” She dabbed a bit of the moisturizer onto her fingertips then started to massage it into his face, “Girl or guy? Old or young? Me or them or you?”
He laughed trying to get away from her hands. “Mane, what is you puttin on me?”
“I thought you were losing your thick ass accent but I see it's still there,” she joked. “Moisturizer. Now answer please.”
“I don't need that.” He complained allowing her to continue. “Man, older, you. Aight na, you don't gotta squeeze my cheeks like that.”
She giggled while still doing it. “You squeeze mine and I don't say nothing.”
Grabbing her hips, Zilla pulled her closer to him then slid his hand to her butt and squeezed.
“Cause you like that shit. Duh.”
“Isayah,” she squealed, “Stop that, I'm tryna help you moisturize.”
“I already got my own moisturizer, I don't need that.”
She stared at him. “Boy what moisturizer you got? I have never seen you use moisturizer. I have to put everything on your face.”
“You know what moisturizer I got, Fat.”
“Nope, I don't. Tell me.”
His eyes met hers, glanced down briefly then back up with a smirk on his face. She stared at him for a moment before it hit her.
“Why are you like this?”
“Like what?”
“Nasty for no reason.”
“It ain't for no reason,” he laughed, “It's all to make you happy so say thank you.”
Laughing, Moriah stepped away from him to the sink to wash her hands. Not one to be away from her, Zilla moved to stand behind her, staring at her through the mirror. Her eyes met his for a brief moment making her smile.
“Zay,” she called out softly.
He hummed out a response.
“I don't know if you know this but,” she paused to turn the water off and dry her hands, “There's no other place I'd rather be than here with you.”
Her heart swelled watching the tint rise to his cheeks as his smile spread across his face. It wasn't often she was able to make him blush so when she did, she enjoyed it. Pulling her closer once again, Zilla put his face in her neck kissing her there then lifted his head to look at her through the mirror.
“You sure?” He asked softly.
“Of course, I am.”
He kissed her face a few times. “I got you something. Come on.”
Moriah allowed him to lead her out to the gifts. Immediately she went to the flowers, inhaling their scent and gently caressing their petals. Zilla quickly snuck a couple of pictures of her.
“They're so pretty, Zay. I love them. You picked them?”
He scrunched his face playfully. “What I get if I say yes?”
She laughed softly looking over at him. “The same thing you'd get if you had help.”
“Mmm then yeah, I did. I did good? I think I remembered all the ones you like.”
She nodded, moving her eyes back to the flowers. “You did. All that time I thought you weren't listening to me but you were.”
“I tell you all the time, even though I wasn't actin like it all the time, you was and is the most important to me, Fat. I listened to everything you said to me.”
“Promise?”
“I promise, girl. I mean it.”
She tilted her head back and puckered her lips at him. He put a hand on her throat, pecking her lips a few times. They held each other's stare for a moment until she stuck her tongue out at him making him laugh.
“Silly ass, I got you something else. I'm surprised you ain't see it first.”
She frowned a little, turning to look. “Ooooh that's a bakery box. What you get me?”
“Open it and see.”
She eyed him before turning to the box that sat on their coffee table alongside the vase of flowers. She slowly opened it, excitedly wiggling when her eyes landed on the contents.
“I haven't had good red velvet cake since we left Texas, babe. Wait … is it good?”
He sucked his teeth playfully. “I'm not tryna get cussed out about that damn cake, I wouldn't give it to you if it wasn't, Fat. And I damn sure wouldn't have got you a whole cake if it wasn't.”
She laughed. “I cussed you out one time and you won't let it go.”
He stared at her. “Twice. Both times you went on for a hour and a half.”
“Blah, blah,” she said, picking the box up, carrying it to the kitchen, “You want a piece?”
“No and neither do you.”
“Wait, what?”
He chuckled. “You heard me. You not eatin that right now. Close it up and get back over here.”
She pouted. “But why not?”
“Cause I said so. I know you ain't ate no real food so you not eatin no cake right now.”
The following silence made him chuckle. Quietly, he crossed their apartment to the kitchen. He watched her try to quietly cut a piece.
“Moriah,” he called out sternly.
She jumped and pouted. “Just a little piece.”
“What I say?”
Rolling her eyes, Moriah closed the box lying the knife across the top and slid her feet over to him. He kissed her head ignoring her pouting.
“Think you my Daddy,” she mumbled as she walked past him.
He laughed. “I know I am cause you told me. Get in that room so we can call Mama.”
The couple laid across their bed with Moriah's iPad in front of them waiting for Leata to answer their facetime. Zilla bothered Moriah while they waited.
“If you lick my face again, I'm gonna bite you.” She warned.
Zilla paused for a second then laughed as he leaned in to lick up her jaw to her cheek. Grabbing his face, Moriah pulled him closer and bit his cheek just as Leata answered the call. She sat quietly watching them, glad they were in a good place still. Laughing, Zilla pulled away from her grasp and wiped his cheek.
“Don't lick me again, Fatu.” She laughed.
He leaned forward and licked her lips. “You say I don't listen anyway so.”
“Isayah, stoooop.” She laughed, wiping her lips. “You so annoying.”
“But you love me,” he laughed, leaning over to do it again.
“Zilla, what are you doin to her?”
“Making her laugh, Mama.”
“No, you're annoying me,” Moriah corrected, laughing. “Tell him to leave me alone, Ma.”
She chuckled softly. “Behave, Zilla. How are you two?”
“I'm aight. How you?”
“I'm good, son. Rye, how are you?”
“Well,” she said bumping Zilla, “I was good till your son started bothering me. And he wouldn't let me have any of the cake that he got me. He's being annoying and mean.”
Leata looked between the two of them. “Why can't she have cake?”
“Cause big head ain't ate real food since last night.”
“Rye, its what,” she paused to look at the time, “Almost 2 and you haven't eaten yet? You need to eat before all that sweet stuff.”
Moriah pouted. “Yes ma'am but only cause you said it and not him.”
Zilla mushed her head playfully. “Either way you ain't gettin it right now.”
“Alright, are yall ready to talk?” She asked stopping them before they could start arguing. They nodded putting their attention back on her. “Okay so where are we starting?”
Moriah nodded for Zilla to go.
“Um when yall found out Fat was pregnant, did you and her people talk without her?”
“We did. We actually spoke a few times. Rye, you don't know this but Hassan knew before you told him. You said you wanted to tell the two of them at the same time but you and I were going to need him as an ally while you told Nadine.” She explained. “When he got in town, I had him come to the house first so I could talk to him. He understood my point of view and he was glad that I had told him prior to. His main concern was the two of you and the baby.”
“Wow … thank you. I didn't even think about that.” Moriah admitted.
“Of course, manamea. While Rye were in school, the three of us got together to discuss the whole situation. It was made clear that no one was to say anything to you until I figured out how to tell you. Surprisingly enough, Nadine agreed to that but knowing what she did that's probably why.”
Zilla nodded, rubbing over his chin hairs. “Anything else?”
Leata thought for a few seconds. “Just that even though the timing of the pregnancy wasn't ideal, Hassan and I were never mad at you two. A little disappointed but we were honest with ourselves,” she chuckled, “We saw it coming from a mile away. We thought it'd be a little later but we knew.”
Moriah and Zilla looked at each other then back at the screen.
“Knew what, Ma?” She asked with her brow raised.
“That there was gonna be a pregnancy or a scare at some point in high school. We knew it.”
Zilla scrunched his face up. “We wasn't even datin then.”
Again she chuckled. “You two never put a name to it but yall were. You went on dates, you were always cuddled up on my sofa, in your bedroom with the door closed and locked and sneaking out together.”
The couple laughed softly.
“We wasn't doin nothin that most of that time. Not till later.”
“Oh trust me, son.” She laughed. “I know when yall started. I just didn't say anything. You didn't wonder why all of a sudden your brothers were giving you condoms and talking to you?”
Zilla laughed thinking back about it while Moriah sat mortified with small giggles escaping her.
“I'm embarrassed,” she declared. “I told you, Zay.”
He laughed. “You was always scary anyway so I ain't pay you no attention.”
“Any other questions for me?”
Moriah looked to her boyfriend for his response.
“Uuuh … after Fat told you what happened, what did you do?”
“Well first I went to pray,” she chuckled humorlessly, “Because if I didn't, I knew whatever I would've done would not have been good. I consoled and talked to Rye until she had to go back home afterwards I went to my bedroom and I cried. I called Arthur to tell him, he was livid. I had to keep him from going to see Nadine. And then you ended up calling me, Isayah. You usually never called as late as you did but I remember you saying something was telling you to call me so you did.”
Zilla tried hard to remember that call, he could recall certain parts of the conversation but not all of it.
She continued on.
“It was hard to act like everything was okay but I had to because I knew it wasn't my place to tell you. I could assist Rye with it but that was all. Plus telling you while you were in there would not have been good.”
Moriah reached over to wipe the few stray tears from his face. He sniffed a few times.
“I appreciate y'all for carin enough about me not tell tell me then cause I prolly would've got more time. I woulda caused hell in that place.”
“And that's what we didn't want.” Leata said softly.
Zilla leaned over, kissing Moriah's cheek then whispered for her to go ahead. She nodded, starting to play with her fingernails.
“I gotta tell you something else about this whole thing, Ma.”
“I'm listening, Rye. Whatever it is, it's got you nervous. You only do that with your nails when you're nervous.”
She smiled a little, trying to stop clicking her nails. “After everything, I kept asking my mom for information. I wanted to know if she knew the gender and what they did with my baby afterwards. Then finally she told me that she had the gender and she had them cremate the remains. And she said the only way I was getting any of that and my sonograms was under one condition.”
“Which was what?”
Moriah bit her lip, fighting the urge to cry. “I had to get my tubes tied.”
Leata frowned, leaning in a bit closer. “You had to what? Cause I know Nadine did not.”
“I had to get my tubes tied, Ma. I wanted what I had left of my baby so I agreed.”
Leata's face was set in shock on the other side of the facetime. There were so many words that wanted to come out but she was unable to say a thing. Moriah asked Zilla to pass her the baby blue box from his nightstand, when she got it she held it in view for Leata to see. Zilla rubbed soothing circles on her back.
“She just had him in this ugly carton thing so I used the money that my dad had given me for something else to buy him this. He's gone everywhere with me even college,” she chuckled softly.
Trying to process everything, Leata brought her hands to her face for a moment. She allowed her tears to fall freely as she stared at the screen.
“He?”
“Yes ma'am,” Moriah tilted it a bit to show where his name was engraved at the top. “I was having a boy. I named him Angel.”
“Oh, Rye. This just makes what she did that much worse. It wasn't enough that she made you abort Angel but then continued to use him to manipulate you and pretty much take away the chance to have another.”
Zilla and Moriah sat quietly listening to her come to terms with everything.
Leata took slow deep breaths. “That is an evil woman that neither of you need to be around. I know that's your mother, Moriah but you have done all you can do. There is no saving grace for her and you will not give her any. Do you hear me?”
“Yes ma'am.”
“I am so sorry that she did that to you, Rye. If I would've known I would've done something to stop it. Does Hassan know?”
“I know, Ma. No, I never told anyone until now so only you, Zay, my mom and me know.”
She nodded. “Well no one will find out from me, that is your business to tell. I um I need to go. I love the two … the three of you so much. Call me or text me if you need me.”
Zilla noticed the look on his mother's face and got concerned. “You good, Mama? You look pale.”
“I'm okay, I'm okay. Just processing. I'm gonna go.”
Without waiting on them to respond, she disconnected the call. Moriah closed her iPad case then rolled onto her side to look at her boyfriend.
“She is not okay.”
“She ain't,” he agreed. He grabbed his phone sending out a quick text, “I told Arthur to go check on her.”
“She looked pissed. I'm pretty sure if not now, in the next few days she's gonna go see my mom.”
Zilla thought then shrugged. “Nadine need her ass whooped anyway. She get what she get.”
Moriah laughed, “You not wrong but Ma do not need to be doing that. We don't want her to get in any trouble.”
He huffed loudly. “You right but Nadine still need her ass whooped. I guess text Auntie Kami too but that would mean you gotta tell her.”
Moriah tapped on her phone, sighing softly. “The good thing about Auntie Kami is I don't need to tell her right now and even though she'll find out in the midst, I can still talk to her about it later and she'll be okay with it.”
Zilla gently pushed Moriah back, making her lie on her back so he could put his head on her chest. She reached one hand down to rub his head while she continued to text.
“I'm proud of you, Fat.”
“What did I do?”
“Everything. You went through all that plus her basically torturin you till I got out and you stood ya ground. You strong baby.” He praised softly. “You got a good ass heart too. I ain't gon let nobody else play with that shit or you. Zilla got you.”
“And Fat got you. You know I do not play about you.”
He laughed a bit. “Shit, I know. Remember ole girl you beat up at that skate party? Made that girl piss herself.”
Moriah busted out laughing, almost dropping her phone. “I did not.”
“Yeah you did. I remember,” He laughed “I remember cause when you realized it got on your hand, you punched her ass in the mouth.”
“Cause that shit was nasty. If she couldn't hold her bladder she shouldn't have started with you.”
He turned over to look at her, a smile on his face. “I thought you said you ain't do that?”
She stared at him trying not to laugh. “Okay, fine, I did. But in my defense I was only doing what Pops, Ejay, and your cousins taught me to do.”
“They did not tell you to make nobody piss they self, mane. You did that.” He laughed now sitting up.
“They did so. They said make sure whoever I fight is leaking by the end. They never specified what kind of leak.” She shrugged playfully. “Point is, I won, she apologized and never bothered you again.”
He shook his head at her, still laughing. “And that's why I tell people not fuck witchu cause they don't want them problems. And I don't either.”
She swatted at his arm after she put her phone down. “Don't tell people that. They gon think I'm mean.”
He pushed his lips to the side staring at her. “That ain't a secret, Fat. Everybody that know ya ass know you mean as shit. You only nice to your patients, Mama, Hassan, and Toni. And I really don't think you that nice to Toni, I just ain't seen it yet.”
“Aht. I am nice to her. She's not nice to me.”
“Damn,” he called out, “That mean she meaner than you. Yall was meant to be friends.”
Moriah sat up and launched herself at him, he grabbed Angel's box moving it to the nightstand then wrapped his arms around her. He laughed as she landed playful jabs to his torso.
“Since I'm mean, I might as well beat you up then, Fatu.”
“Now you know the only one of us that gets beat up around here is you,” He joked, tickling her sides making her giggle uncontrollably. “Now say sorry.”
“Zay! Zay, stop!” She yelled in between giggles.
He continued his playful assault on her sides through his own laughter. “Say sorry and I stop.”
“Okay! Okay! I'm sorry!” She yelled.
He hummed not stopping. “That ain't enough. Am I your daddy, Fat?”
“Zilla, I gotta pee!” She giggled.
He laughed still tickling her. “Then you better answer me. Am I your daddy?”
She fell over giggling. “Yes! You're my Daddy! Stoooop!”
Laughing, he let her go. He watched her jump off the bed and run into the bathroom closing the door behind her. She yelled from behind the door.
“You get on my nerves, Fatu!”
He grabbed his ringing phone and put it to his ear. “Love you too, Fat! What's up, Jon?”
“The hell is yall doing? Yelling in my ear.” He asked, talking just as loud.
Zilla laughed putting the call on speaker. “Nothin, man. What's up?”
“Checkin to make sure yall still coming this weekend. Trin made me call cause she said if her favorite cousin not here I'm gon be in trouble.”
“Ayyye, I'm the favorite. Tell her we gon be there.”
Jon laughed. “She wasn't talkin about you, man. She was talkin about Moriah.”
He sucked his teeth. “Just for that tell her, I'm comin but Fat stayin home.”
Moriah came out of the bathroom and went back to the bed, leaning against Zilla. “I'm not staying home. If I don't go, you don't go.”
“I can go places without you, big head.”
“You can but you can't go visit them without me.”
He looked down at her. “Why I can't?”
She stared back at him. “Jon gon let you live with him?”
Jon laughed, interrupting them. “Damn, she sound just like Trin. Always tryna put us out over a lil jokey joke.”
“Cause yall not funny.” Moriah fired back playfully. “We'll be there, Jon. And I want the same room, Trin told me it was mine.”
“Lil girl, how you just gon claim stuff in my house?”
“Huh? You said you want me to tell Trin you being mean to me?”
“Maaaan,” he drug out playfully, “Aight fine but you gon tell Sefa why he can't have that room.”
Moriah squealed, “My second favorite Fatu man is gonna be there? Why you didn't tell me before?”
Zilla frowned. “I better be the first favorite.”
She scrunched her face. “Ew, no. Arthur's my first favorite then Sefa.”
“And what number am I?” Jon asked.
“Uuuuh let's see …. There's Arthur, Sefa, Zilla, Jacob, Ejay, you and then Naio.”
“Now wait a damn minute,” Jon called out, “I'm number six! Why am I so low on the list? What I do?”
“And why am I number three?”
“Jon, you're never on my side just like Naio so that's what yall get,” she explained quickly, “And you're number three because Arthur spoils me and Sefa always took my side and the both of them always check on me.”
Both men sucked their teeth.
“Aye, Zay, we gon jump Sefa this weekend. Traitor.”
Zilla laughed. “Hell yeah.”
“But aight then. Text me what snacks and stuff yall want for the weekend so I can add it to the list. Call if yall need anything.”
“Bye number six!” Moriah joked.
Job sucked his teeth. “Just for that, no snacks for you.”
“Bye, man.” Zilla chuckled, ending their call. “Fat?”
“What, big head?”
“I'm really number 3?”
She nodded, smiling. “Yup but you're my number one Fatu in the non platonic way.”
“I'm the only non platonic Fatu you got.”
She huffed playfully. “Boy, just take the number one spot and hush.”
After her shift, Moriah changed out of her work clothes and into her regular clothes then went to the ED to wait on Toni. She watched the older woman check in a second patient in the last ten minutes. Bronco, Zilla and Moriah had finally convinced Toni to come to a show and see him wrestle.
“Nurse Bryant, it's fifteen minutes past your shift.” Moriah called out looking at her watch.
Toni finished up with the patient then turned to her friend. “I couldn't just stop what I was doing, Rye. I'm coming, give me a second.”
“We're gonna be late if you don't come on. We still have to stop by your house to drop off your car and for you to change, go to mine to drop my car off and uber to the show. Bring your butt on.”
The handheld monitor went off again interrupting them. Before Toni could check it, Moriah snatched it and passed it to the nurses relieving her, who had been trying to get it. They had a short conversation then Moriah pulled her friend from behind the nurses station and towards the doors.
“Wait, wait, my purse.” Toni called out trying to go back.
“It's in my bag, let's go. Cause if I miss my man because of you, me and you are gonna need a ref.”
When the friends got to their cars, Thomas was sitting on the hood of Moriah's car. Toni rolled her eyes and Moriah stayed to dig through her purse.
“Why are you sitting on her car? Get off.”
Thomas smiled. “Was just waiting on her. No harm done, Toni.”
“Yet you're still sitting on it,” she clocked with a tilt of her head.
He waved her off putting his focus on Moriah. “Can we talk, Moriah? It won't take but a second.”
“You have until I find what I'm looking for to say whatever it is you wanna say to me and I believe I told you to call me Nurse DeBreaux.”
“I just wanted to tell you that I'll love you and wanna be with you regardless of us being able to have children. We can try and if it doesn't work, we can always adopt. I really want to give us another try, I've matured. I'm not the same person I used to be.”
“Found it,” she announced triumphantly and pulled her pink taser Jacob had given her years ago from her purse. She moved closer to him, putting it near his crutch. “If you ever sit on my car again, call me anything but what I've told you to call me or bring my medical information up again, I won't be the only one who may not have kids. Am I clear?” She pressed the side making it spark for emphasis.
Toni stood back laughing to herself.
He jumped a little. “Whoa, I'm just tryna make amends. It's bad enough you might not have kids, don't want you to be alone on top of it.”
“Why do you assume I'll be alone, Thomas?”
“Look at all the kids in that family. If you can't give him kids, he's not gonna stay when he finds out.”
Moriah chuckled. “Get the hell off my car, Thomas. You got five seconds.”
He jumped off the hood, taking a few steps back. “Just think about it, Mo.”
“You are so lucky I got somewhere to be. Stay away from me and I mean that shit.” After he jogged off, Moriah turned her taser off and threw it back in her purse. She passed Toni her own purse. “I'll follow you to your house. We gotta hurry.”
Forty five minutes later, the friends made it to NXT Arena at Full Sail University. They walked around the backstage area looking for their other halves.
“Haven't you been here before?” Toni asked, looking around.
“Yeah twice but both times he was with me. Let's just ask somebody.” Moriah looked around then spotted what looked like a friendly face. She approached the woman, tapping her shoulder. “Sorry to bother you but we're kinda lost.”
She smiled looking at the two of them. “Well I hope I can help. I'm literally like two almost three weeks in. What are yall looking for?”
“Catering. We're supposed to meet someone there.”
“Now that I can find. Follow me,” she laughed, starting to head in that direction with them. “I'm Gia, by the way.”
“Nice to meet you. I'm Moriah and this is Toni.” Toni gave a polite smile and wave when Gia looked over at her. “What do you do here, Gia?”
“Journalist but in basic terms, I do backstage interviews.”
“Sounds cool. And you don't have to get all sweaty and thrown around so that's good.” Moriah joked, ignoring Toni’s mimicking.
“That's the best part,” Gia agreed, stopping in front of catering, “Do you see who you're looking for?”
Moriah and Toni looked around for a few seconds. Toni nudged her friend's arm and pointed.
“I see them over there.”
“Where?” Moriah asked, frowning.
Toni pointed, “Right there. Left corner. I know you see Bronco's tall ass and Zilla.”
Gia's ears perked up at the mention. “I see them. Come on, I'll walk yall.”
“Uuh, we got it but thank you, Gia.” Toni frowned.
Gia laughed it off. “No worries plus I hadn't had a chance to speak to them today. They're always on the move.”
Gia walked in front of them, leaving the two friend's to exchange looks before following her. Moriah mumbled under her breath a bit.
“Oh my gosh, Zilla! Look who I found wandering around,” she announced putting a hand on his arm.
Moriah didn't miss the grimace on his face as he looked in Gia's direction. He moved her hand then noticed Moriah and Toni. Bronco rolled his eyes accepting Toni's hug. He whispered to her that Gia got on his nerves. Zilla smiled widely at Moriah going to hug her.
“What's up, Fat? What's up, Toni?”
“You didn't tell me your sister and her friend was coming, Zilla. I could've met them at the gate for you since you and Bronco had them wandering around.”
Toni laughed under her breath looking up at Bronco, who rolled his eyes again.
“Sister? Do me and him look alike to you?” Moriah asked, confused.
Gia laughed, clasping her hands in front of her body. “I'm sorry, I was assuming. Cousin then?”
Zilla pulled Moriah into his side, placing a kiss to her temple. “She not my cousin. This my lady, mane. And we got them. We good, Gia.”
“Oooh this is your girlfriend? He really loves you, girl. Every time I talk to him, he mentions you.”
“I wonder why,” Toni mumbled.
Moriah smiled looking between them. “Good to know, Gia.”
Gia patted his chest a few times then let her hand linger there. “He's a tough cookie to crack but I think I'm wearing him down. We're gonna be friends. And don't worry, I'll keep an eye on him for you. These girls around here can be a bit much.”
Before Zilla could, Moriah pushed her hand off of him.
“Yeah I can see that about the girls,” Moriah sassed tilting her head. “Just a little thing to keep in mind about him … he doesn't like to be touched by people he don't know like that and I don't either.”
“Noted, girl. I'll make sure they keep their hands off of my friend.” Gia smiled at Zilla and Bronco then moved to hug Moriah and Toni. “Enjoy the show. Ooh come find me afterwards, we can go get drinks.”
Moriah turned to stare at her boyfriend, who held his hands up.
“Fat, I ain't do shit. She can't take a hint.”
Bronco nodded. “He ain't lying. He literally gives her no indication that it's okay for her to even talk to him and she still do it.”
Moriah folded her arms. “She better learn how to take a hint or she gon have a problem that she don't want. Talking about some damn sister or cousin. She knew I wasn't either one of those.”
“She did,” Toni agreed, “She was trying to be messy.”
“And had the nerve to put her hands all on him like I'm not standing here. She lucky I ain't break her damn hand.”
Toni clapped her hands. “Girl, seriously. She was trying you. Being all bold like, I can imagine what she does when you're not here.”
Moriah groaned inwardly. “And she better hope I don't ever find out cause I will beat her ass and then ima beat his ass.”
“And then ima beat Bronco's ass,” Toni added.
“Wait, I moved her hand just like I do any other time and tell her to stop. Why I'm gettin my ass beat?” Zilla asked.
“Ion even like that girl and I tell her to leave him alone. I shouldn't be gettin my ass beat.” Bronco stressed.
“Just so yall know we not nothing to play with,” Toni explained with finality.
Moriah nodded. “That part.”
“Listen, me and Bronco not worried about that girl. We dodge her ass and whenever she do catch us, we keep it short. Right, B?”
Bronco nodded. “Right.”
“It better stay that way too. I don't mind beating her ass, Isayah.”
Zilla nodded her face then her lips, holding her body against his. “I know you don't. Don't worry about her, she ain't important.”
“Mmhm.”
“Oh! Rye almost tased Thomas’s nuts off.” Toni announced with a chuckle.
Zilla looked at Toni then his girlfriend. “Not that it matter but why?”
“He was sitting his ass on my damn car and was tryna talk to me about being together,” she explained, “Then I told him if he ever sat on my car or brought what he brought up again, I wouldn't be the only one with fertility issues.”
“Good job, sis.” Bronco praised excitedly. “But next time do it. Teach his ass.”
Toni hit his arm, chastising him.
“You know when he work next?”
“Why?” She asked, staring at him.
“Do you know, Fat?”
She nodded slowly. “Yeah, Thursday same time as me.”
“Aight, yall go head to your seats. We'll send somebody to get yall before the show over.” He pulled her closer, kissing her slowly. “I love you, fat head.”
She laughed softly. “Love you more, Fatu. See you later, Bronco.”
Bronco hugged and kissed Toni then smiled at Moriah. “Aight, sis. Yall cheer loud for me and my boy.”
The men watched their girlfriends leave catering before turning to one another. Bronco's smile widened with a mischievous glint in his eye.
“What time I need to be ready Thursday?”
Fortunately for Nadine, Kamille was able to detour Leata for a couple of days. Knowing her sister's work schedule, she invited Nadine to her house Wednesday afternoon for a snack and to talk. Kamille left the detail about Leata coming out to ensure her sister came.
Leata and Kamille had been sitting in her living room since Arthur dropped her off thirty minutes prior. The two waited on Nadine's arrival.
“Which one of your babies was that, that dropped you off?”
“Arthur, my oldest. And he was not happy that I wouldn't let him stay.” She chuckled.
Kamille laughed. “Yeah, he didn't look happy. Rye told me that he's the only brother that knows so I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that he's on the list of people that aren't happy with my sister.”
“He's definitely on that list. I don't blame him … just thinking about it makes me so angry. She was 15 years old, a baby.”
“I've been giving her shit about the way she's been with Moriah for years and she tells me the same thing every time. That she can do what she wants with her child.”
Leata rolled her eyes. “Same crap she's said to me.”
The door opening and closing momentarily ended their conversation. Nadine called out for her sister then followed her voice to the living room. Her smile slowly dropped into a frown as she went to sit on the love seat.
“You didn't tell me there would be a third wheel, little sister.”
Kamille smiled. “Seems like you were the last one here so you're the third wheel, big sister. How are you?”
“I'm well. How are you? Hello, Leata.”
“Same, Nadine.” Kamille answered, nudging Leata.
“Hi, Nadine.” She greeted stiffly.
Nadine hummed at her. “How is your son treating my baby?”
“You would know if she were still talking to you,” Leata chuckled, “He's treating her the way he's always treated her, like a queen.”
“Queen of what? The hood?”
Kamille jumped in to stop them. “Nadine, cut it out. Don't get sassy because you know she's right.”
“Kami, why am I here? I've been working all day and I am too tired for this.”
Girl,” Kamille scoffed, “You worked two hours today, you not tired. Anyway Leata wanted to talk to you and I am here to facilitate. Don't be your usual asshole self either.”
Nadine rested her elbow on the arm rest, moving her attention from her little sister to Leata. “What would you like to talk about, Leata? What can I do for you?”
Leata counted backwards from ten in her head before responding. “I'm just gonna jump right in, I don't have the patience to beat around the bush. You made Moriah get her tubes tied?”
“Yup.” She answered popping the ‘p’. “Anything else?”
“Anything…. Anything else? Are you kidding me? You don't see anything wrong with making a 15 year old girl get her tubes tied? She was a baby, Nadine.”
She smiled at her former friend. “No, I don't see anything wrong with making hard decisions for my child. She was a baby that didn't need to be having babies so I made sure she wouldn't.”
“Birth control was an option, Nadine.”
“Wasn't gonna do what I needed to be done.”
“What if she never able to have kids again? Does that even make you feel a little bad?”
She shook her head, a slight smile on her face. “Knowing that she'll never have a child with that child of yours brings me joy and a sense of accomplishment. And if I'm as lucky as I think I am, he'll break up with her.”
“Nadine, what is your got damn problem with me and my kids? You went from being one of my best friends to my enemy.” Leata yelled while sitting up on the sofa.
“You and your kids are just like that husband of yours.” Nadine yelled standing from the love seat. “I didn't realize it until after his ass killed over.”
Leata stood as well, pointing her finger in Nadine's direction. “You better be careful with the next words that come out of your mouth.”
“Hmm well let me take a second to think about what I wanna say about you, your husband and your kids.” Nadine paused dramatically. “Your husband always had his ass in my family's business, in my husband's ear about this and about that. Thought it was just him but you and your damn kids are the same way. You took your husband's spot in my husband's ear and your kids are in my daughter's ears.”
“Hassan and Moriah know how to make their own choices! We did not make them do anything they didn't wanna do, Nadine!”
Nadine rolled her eyes. “Oh sure. They just happened to make these stupid decisions after talking to one of you Fatus.”
“Oh please, Nadine. I'm glad you think so highly of us that we have that much control but sorry to tell you it's complete bullshit.”
“I'm not my daughter or my husband, I'm not falling for that.” She chuckled. “As bad I felt when your husband died, I was glad cause I thought I was finally getting control back of my family. But then the manipulation and interference didn't stop.”
Kamille stood at that. “Nadine, you're going too far. Stop that.”
“Oh I'm just getting started,” she spat, laughing. “I don't think I'll have to wait that long to get control back and have my baby come home to me. That child of yours is following in his father's footsteps literally so it won't be too long before he joins him. Now that's a funeral I would pay good money to sit front row at.”
Leata's right arm reared back then forward with as much force as she could muster connecting with Nadine's left cheek. There was so much force behind her slap, Nadine lost her balance and hit the floor. She held her cheek, opening and closing her mouth trying to check her jaw. Kamille stepped in front of Leata. Pushing her back gently trying to calm her.
“That was the last time you will ever talk about my kids or my husband! If you ever talk about them again like that it'll be your funeral we're sitting front row for!”
Slowly, Nadine pushed herself up onto the love seat. She heard Leata but the pain in her face and jaw kept her from responding. There was a slight ringing in her ear as well that wouldn't go away.
“Breathe, friend. Breathe. I got her, you go call Arthur.”
Leata glared at her old friend as she left the living room, mumbling to herself. Kamille stared at her big sister wondering how the sister she used to look up to turned into this person. They were fifteen years apart but at 38, Kamille felt like she had much more sense than the 53 year old sitting in front of her today.
“Why would you say that to her? You can't really feel that way, Nadine.”
Nadine winced a bit when she opened her mouth. “You know I don't say things that I don't mean.”
“I don't know that but I do know if you say things to hurt people to get the upper hand. You wished death on her kid. That's not right.”
She chuckled. “What's not right is her family breaking up mine.”
“Their family didn't do a damn thing but love you, Hassan and Moriah. Although it's clear that they wasted their love on you. You and you alone broke up your family.”
“If I didn't know any better I'd swear you were drinking the Kool-Aid too.” Nadine smirked as best she could. “So tell me which Fatu are you sleeping with? Hmm let me guess … Jacob. He was always fond of you.”
Kamille frowned at her big sister. “Me and Jacob are friends, basically family like the rest of them and you know that. You just say anything to avoid accepting fault. Mama didn't raise us like that.”
“How would you know? I was damn near grown when you were born. You don't know shit about how I was raised.”
Kamille sucked her teeth, “I know enough to know that she raised us both the same way. You need to stop this before you get to a point where it can't be fixed.”
“I don't need to do anything but call the police.”
“For what, Nadine?”
“I'm pressing charges. She assaulted me and you witnessed it.”
Kamille shook her head.
“You are absolutely not. If you call them, I'm calling Mama and telling her what you did to Moriah and what you just said to Leata. And I know no matter how old and bitter you are, you do not wanna deal with a pissed off Trenice Parker. Do you?”
Nadine stared at her sister for a few moments then huffed loudly. “Go get me a ice pack, don't just stand there.”
Knowing how her son felt, Leata waited until they got back to her house to tell her how the meet up had gone. He then spent thirty minutes going off about Nadine and debating on going back to Kamille's to finish what his mother had started.
“You know you gotta tell Zay and Rye, right.”
She shook her head. “No, they've already got a lot going on. I'll tell them just not right now.”
“Mama, they need to know now. Especially Rye. This not nothing to keep to ourselves.” Arthur stressed kneeling in front of her while she sat on the sofa. “She better hope I don't see her in public.”
“That right there is why I don't wanna say anything. Your brother is gonna react that same way.”
“And he should, Mama. Her bitter ass wished him dead. You don't say stuff like that.”
She closed her eyes, taking a few deep breaths. “Okay fine but this is gonna hurt Moriah.”
“Whether you tell her now or later, it's gonna hurt her, Mama.”
Begrudgingly, she facetimed Zilla. A part of her hoped he didn't answer so she had more time. Her hopes were dashed when she saw his smiling face and heard Moriah's voice in the background.
“Aye! Stop hitiin’ me, Mama on the phone and ima tell!” He laughed. “Mama, tell this girl to keep her hand to herself.”
Arthur moved to sit beside Leata, putting his face in the frame.
“What did you do to her, son?”
“I … ow, your lil hands hurt, mane. She offered me cake and now she mad cause I ate it.”
“Nah uhn! I offered him a piece yesterday and he ate another piece today!” Moriah yelled.
“He sorry,” Arthur suggested, “Right, Zay?”
Zilla frowned a bit, pulling Moriah into a loose headlock. “Uhuh, right. My bad, Fat. What yall got going on?”
Arthur put his attention on Leata, silently urging here to go on.
“I wanted to tell you two that I went to Kamille's to talk to Nadine. And it didn't go well.”
Zilla moved him and Moriah to their sofa to sit down. Moriah got comfortable against his chest.
“What happened?” Zilla asked, looking between his mom and brother.
Leata looked at Arthur then back at the screen. “It didn't last long, I'll say that. We got into a spat, she said some ugly things and it escalated.”
“What did she say?” Moriah asked softly.
“I asked her about what she made you do and she said she was proud of it and felt accomplished.”
It was heartbreaking to see the residual joy leave Moriah's eyes. Zilla pressed a kiss to the top of her head. Leata waited for her to respond, when Moriah didn't she continued.
“She also said some things about your father and your brothers but mostly you. Things escalated,” she sighed, “I'm not proud of it but it ended in me slapping her.”
Zilla's brows raised.
“What she say? Had to be bad for you to do that.”
Arthur realized she wasn't going to be able to say it so he stepped in. “She wished death on you, Zay then Mama slapped her.”
Moriah sat up immediately, pushing herself off the sofa but Zilla held onto her waist with one hand.
“Fat, sit down. Come ‘ere, man.”
She shook her head, roughly pulling herself from his grasp. “No, I can't. I can't.”
Leata spoke up. “Let her go, Zilla.”
He huffed watching her walk off to their bedroom. “The hell I do to her for her to say that?”
“I'm telling you that you did nothing to deserve having someone say that about you, Isayah. You could tell that woman to have a good day and she would swear you cursed her. You hear me?”
He nodded starting at the closed bedroom door. “I hear you, Mama.”
“Isayah,” Arthur called out, getting his brother's attention, “Mama told yall that so yall would know what that lady got going on not to cause a setback between the two of you.”
He nodded again.
“Go do what you need to do.”
Zilla disconnected the call as he got up from the sofa. He went to listen at the bedroom door for a moment before going in. Moriah laid with her face in her pillow, crying softly. Going to her side of the bed, Zilla kneeled there and rubbed her back.
“You meltin again, Fat?”
She shook her head, not lifting it from the pillow, followed by a muffled ‘no’. He smiled a little, nudging her over so he could see her face.
“It look like you meltin’, baby.”
“Just a little,” she said softly.
“You don't gotta melt over that. Zilla ain't goin nowhere, Zilla gon stay right here with you to get on your nerves.”
She nodded, sniffling softly. “Promise?”
“Zilla promise. What can I do to make my lady stop meltin?”
“A kiss maybe.”
He chuckled, leaning up to kiss her. “Better?”
“Mmmm … maybe one more.”
He kissed her again. “Now?”
She shrugged. “I kinda feel better. A snuggle would probably make it all the way better.”
“Whenever you ask me to snuggle, you end up tryna do more than snuggle, Fat.” He pointed out getting up from the floor and climbing into the bed behind her. She moved her body back, closer to him. “See? You already startin’.”
She laughed softly. “Just getting comfy. Plus ever since Zilla threw his condoms away, he hasn't wanted to snuggle with me anyway.”
He laughed in her ear. “We both been tired as shit, Fat. My bad.”
“You never cared about me bein tired before.”
“That's cause I wasn't tired.” He kissed her neck a few times. “I promise to snuggle with you next time. Aight?”
“Pinky promise?” Moriah proposed as she lifted her pinky up.
He linked his pinky with hers.
Since they were leaving for Tampa as soon as Moriah's shift ended, Zilla dropped her off at work Thursday morning. She had long forgotten about Zilla's inquiry into Thomas’s work schedule so she didn't question him taking her to work or warn him to not do anything bad. Moriah liking to be thirty minutes early to her shift worked out in his and Bronco's favor seeing as the friends made it to the parking deck minutes before he did. Unbeknownst to him, he parked his Audi between Bronco's truck and Zilla's challenger. When he stepped out of his car, Zilla was standing at the back of his car startling him.
“What's wrong? Why you so jumpy, mane?” Zilla laughed.
Bronco crept up behind him, slamming the driver side door for him. “He act like he seen a ghost or sum.”
Thomas jumped again looking between both men.
“There are cameras in here.”
Zilla looked up at the cameras, smiling even wider. “You mean them right there? I wouldn't count on them workin.”
“Naaah they definitely outta order, my guy. Kinda like yo ass,” Bronco added with a chuckle.
“What do you want? I need to get to work.”
Zilla moved closer to him grabbing his collar to shove him against Bronco's truck.
“Wait, why he not hemmed up against his own car?” Bronco asked, frowning.
Zilla ignored his friend, maintaining eye contact with Thomas. “Moriah told me yo ass still botherin’ her and if it's one thing I can't stand is somebody that don't understand no especially when my lady say it. She asked you one too many times to leave her alone so now I gotta step in.”
Thomas struggled to get out of his grasp but his strength was nothing compared to Zilla's. “It's not that serious. We were just having a conversation.”
“A conversation that she told you she ain't want which mean she said no to your ass.” He spat, pressing his forearm into Thomas’s throat. “This the one and only warnin you get from me. The next time you see me or my boy it won't be to talk.”
Bronco stepped forward and leaned down so they were sure level. “And if you don't keep this lil meeting between us, you'll see us sooner than that. Comprende?”
“Sis! I been missing you!”
As soon as Moriah and Zilla stepped inside the house, Trinity ran to them engulfing Moriah in a tight, bear hug rocking them from side to side. Jon and Zilla watched them with frowns on their faces.
Jon hit his cousin's arm. “Uce! I missed you!” The two of them hugged mocking their women.
Trinity sucked her teeth. “This why you number six. Get on my nerves.”
“They just jealous cause nobody ever misses them.” Moriah rolled her eyes playfully. “Everybody else here or we early?”
“Yall late as hell.” Jon fussed loudly. “Should've took off like uce told you to. Lucky I ain't give ya room away.”
Moriah laid her head on Trinity’s shoulder. “My favorite cousin wouldn't let you do that.”
“And won't. Everybody in the backyard, come on.”
Trinity pulled Moriah along with her while Jon and Zilla followed behind. They talked softly and briefly with each other until they got to the patio. Moriah scanned the backyard, squealing when she spotted Jacob and another cousin on the grill. She ran to jump on his back.
“Jacob! I missed you!”
Laughing, Jacob sat the spatula he was using down and backed away from the grill. “Damn, girl, I missed you too. You almost took us both out.”
She got down, laughing and fixing her shorts. “I haven't seen you in so long. I missed my buddy. I don't have nobody to get on Zay's nerves with.”
“Shit, we got all weekend to make up for lost time, sis.”
“Yall asses is not about to get on my nerves all weekend unless her big head ass wanna get left here with you,” Zilla declared approaching them. He slapped hands with both of his cousins. “Fat, you remember Josh. Right?”
She nodded, moving to hug him. He barely returned the hug but she didn't notice. “Hey Josh. Of course I remember. He's the twin that's not annoying, the good twin.”
Josh nodded his head at her, mumbling out a greeting then turned back to the grill. Jacob noticed how their cousin acted but realized Moriah and Zilla didn't.
“Aye, sis, there go Sefa. Better get to em before mean ass do.”
Zilla frowned playfully. “I'm mean ass? You know her ass meaner than me.”
Moriah stuck her tongue then ran over to Sefa, jumping on him the way she'd jumped on Jacob. Zilla let his cousins know he'd be back after he spoke to Sefa. Turning back to the grill, Jacob nudged his cousin.
“What's up with you?”
“Nun man, I'm cool.”
Jacob started to flip the burgers. “I would believe that if you don't just give that girl the cold shoulder.”
Josh shrugged, focusing on the chicken. “Ion like her. I ain't think he'd stay with her this long.”
“You don't like her? Moriah? Moriah that's been around since they was kids?” Jacob asked with his face screwed up. “Why you ain't like her?”
Josh looked over at Moriah with his family, his lips turning up at the sight of them being happy and friendly with her. “She ain't right for uce. He deserve better.”
“Better than Moriah? She the best thing that ever happened to his mean ass.”
“That's what yall think.”
Jacob scratched his head looking over at his family then back at Josh. “Ion know man. You gon have to explain that one to me later on. But word of advice, chill on the attitude with her, that boy ain't right in the head when it come to her. He protect her heavy.”
Josh waved him off. “We'll see.”
Troublesome Twin: Run
Warning list-
hunger games warning, abusive family, mother died in childbirth with the twins, Arachne, Coriolanus Snow, Dr. Gaul, violence, and murder.
I think that’s all, let me know if there’s more!
word count-1520
“Coryo,” Y/N breathed, as Eiran dealt with your father. “Don’t leave me. At least not until I know it’s safe.”
“I won’t love.” He cooed, stocking the hair away from y/n’s head. “I’m right here. We’ll both leave together for the games, yeah?”
“Okay,” Y/N breathed, closing her eyes. A tear fell from her face and Coryo quickly wiped it away.
“Love, what is it?” He asked, cupping Y/N’s face.
“I’m just tired, and scared.”
“Why are you scared, love? You have nothing to be afraid of.”
“I’m scared for tomorrow. I’m worried about Lucy Gray.”
“Darling, you’re injured, let me be the one on to worry about her.”
“But she has to win, Coryo. If-If she doesn’t we could lose everything. We could lose each other.”
“Shh, shh,” Coryo cooed, wiping the tears off of Y/N’s cheeks. “You don’t know that.”
“I do, Coryo.”
“Dean and my father will do everything in their powers to ruin our lives. We have to bend the rules.”
“What do you mean, love?”
“The compact that you gave me, your mothers,”
Y/N started, stopping to cough. Coryo propped her up some more and got her some water. She took a few sips, then let him put it down. “Once I’s safe, you should go home. And fill it with rat poison and give it to her to use. Check out the arena and see and see if you can find anything to help her.”
“Darling?”
“Coryo, she has to win. We have to win.”
“Okay my love.”
“Lucy Gray?” Coryo whisper yelled, in the dark, limping his way to the cage. “Hey.”
“You’re alive!” Lucy Gray exclaimed. “How’s Y/N? Is she-“
“She’s alive. She’ll be okay. She’s in the hospital right now, but she’ll be out before the games. She sent me here to help you. Those bombs, they have changed everything. They blew the walls out. So that means you can can escape up into the stands. There’s a hole down in the floor. Leads down to some tunnels. I’ve tried it and you can disappear down there. So the moment you hear that bell ring, you ignore the weapons in the middle and you run as fast as you can for that hole. And you find a place to hide down below. Alone.”
“Alone? No.”
“Yeah.”
“Jessup’s my friend.”
“No. The moment that bell rings, you can’t trust anyone. Not even Jessup. Just lay low down there until it’s safe to come out.”
“Thank you for taking care of me.”
“I can’t let you die. Y/N can’t either. You saved us. You saved Y/N, Lucy Gray.”
“I’m sorry,” Lucy Gray cried.
“Hey.”
“I’m more hopeful during the daytime. But when it gets dark, I just…”
“It’s okay,” Coryo let out, wiping her tears with his handkerchief. “It’s okay. I’m gonna get you out of here. I promise. Back to the Covey, okay?”
“Coryo?” Lucy Gray asked. “Is it real that how I do tomorrow will determine yours and Y/N’s future?”
“Yes. If you don’t win, we could lose each other for ever. So if you really want to win, if this is real, just tell me. If I’m going to risk everything, and my girlfriend. That song…”
“That song was payback, is all. My old boyfriend, Billy Taupe, he was cheating on me with the mayor’s daughter.”
“The girl from the reaping.”
“Yeah, she got crazy jealous. She had her pa read my name up on that stage and now everyone will know what they did to me.”
“Here,” Coryo let out, handing her the compact. “You take this.”
“No, no, it’s too fine.”
“No, it’s not a gifts. It’s a loan. It’s Y/N’s. She told me to give it to you. What’s in here, don’t touch it. Don’t even breathe it in because small amounts can be deadly. Look, I have seen what war does to people, okay? I’ve seen it. And there will come a time when you need this. When you need to act. We all do things we’re not proud of to survive. Hey. We’re gonna win this, Lucy Gray. We’re all three gonna win this, together.”
Coryo got back to the hospital and saw Y/N starting to drift back to sleep.
“Coryo,” Y/N asked, barely audible.
“I’m back love.” He cooed, kissing her head. “I did it. You need to get some sleep.”
“Lay with me?” Y/N asked.
“Of course my love.” Coryo took of his shoes, and carefully got in the bed next to Y/N. “I love you.”
“I love you more,” Y/N whispered, cuddling into him, laying her head on his chest as he kissed her head and wrapped his arms protectively around her.”
“Good morning, love,” Coryo whispered, looking at her.
“Hi,” Y/N let out. “It’s game day isn’t it?”
“It is my love. But first, let’s get you home yeah?” “Okay,” Y/N breathed.
“Erin got us a car, and I’ll help you walk.”
Y/N got up with the help of Coryo then went to the bathroom to change. Coryo helped her walk out as they made their way to the car.
“We’re home,” Coryo called, walking into the house, with Y/N clinging to his side.
“Oh, Y/N,” Grandma’am called, hugging Y/N in a big hug.
“Hi, Grandma’am.” Y/N smiled, hugging her back.
“I was so worried about you.”
“I’m okay, Grandma’am. Really. Just sore and tired, but I’ll be fine.”
Coryo knew that was a lie, but that you didn’t want Grandma’am to know the truth. He walked up to her and carefully put his hand on her shoulder. “Why don’t you go take a hot shower and get ready to go my love?”
“Okay,” Y/N sighed, letting go of Grandma’am and slowly making her way to the bathroom.
As Coryo and Y/N pulled up to where they would be watching the games when Coryo grabbed, Y/N’s hand.
“Are you going to be okay? I have no clue how long this will take. I know you’re in pain, so please don’t lie to me.”
“I’ll be okay, Coryo. As long as I have you right next to me, I’ll be fine.”
“Okay, my love.”
Coryo got out of the car, and helped Y/N out, holding her close to him as he could.
“Y/N,” Festus let out. “Good to see you’re doing better. I’m so sorry about your sister.”
“Thank you.” Y/N let out, holding onto Coryo as they continued walking to their seats.
“That friend of yours. Plinth,” Dean Highbottom said. “You might wanna find him a seat near the door.”
Coryo and Y/N looked at him as he walked off, then continued their way down.
“Coryo!” Sejanus called. “Y/N!”
“Hey,” Coryo smiled.
“Hi,” Y/N smiled, hugging him.
“How are you doing?” He asked, Y/N. “You all right?”
“Um, I’m doing better. Glad to be out of the hospital.”
“Over here, please,” a cameraman called, getting their attention.
Y/N wrapped both her arms around the two boys, standing in the middle of them as they smiled for the camera.
“Here we go,” Lucky called, walking in. “Here we go everyone. Come on. Come on, let’s go.” Coryo helped you to a seat and moved his a little closer to yours and sat next to you, grabbing your hand. “Sit down, Festus, come on. Everyone, as you know, we’re about to go live. Just because you’re not hosting, doesn’t mean you’re off the hook. Help me. Don’t get lost behind your screens. No yawning, no gum chewing. Keep your chins down, head up, shoulders back. And smile. It’s why we have teeth. Okay, get ready. We’re gonna start, guys. Five, four, three, two… Good morning, I’m Lucretius “Lucky” Flickerman. A man who needs no introduction. Weatherman, amateur magician, and today, I’m honored to say… first ever host of the Hunger Games. In my hand, an envelope, sealed. My prediction, the winner to be opened by me upon the big show’s end. Well well. They’re here. We’re getting word… All right, we’re about to start. We’re starting everyone, we’re starting. Happy Hunger Games. Remember, when your tribute dies, get out of here.”
The camera showed the tributs interesting the arena as Y/N held onto Coryo tighter, then it showed an unconscious Marcus hanging in the middle of the arena. People gasped from all over the room, as tears came to Y/N’s eyes, (she’s going to blame it on the Morphlen.)
“Ooh, Marcus,” Lucky called. Guess we can all sleep better now knowing he’s off the streets.”
Y/N jumped at the bang from Sejanus throwing his seat. “You monsters!” He yelled, making Y/N flinch more into Coryo. “All of you.”
Everyone watched as he stormed out, then turned back to the screen. Coryo saw a tear on Y/N’s cheek and wiped it off, giving her a quick kiss.
“Ten, nine,” Lucky counted. “Eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one.”
“Run.” Coryo and Y/N whispered.
Ryan x FTM! Reader
Plot: Ryan and the reader are at the Serling and jimmy makes a comment on readers appearance. Ryan gets pissed, also I’m making Reuben Reed good here.
Requested by (and I’m tagging): @hyunjinbiased-blog
You were relaxing with Rosa and Evie, drink in hand as you listened to their conversation.
Ryan, your crush and best friend, was trying to sort out how his immunity and how it needs to get you and him out of LA and to safety.
You understood the stress he was under, it was a big task to become the hero and try and save the world with your Blood.
“Hello, are you ok (Y/N)?”
It was Evie, she had a concerned look on her face, Rosa mirroring her.
You clear your throat, “yeah I’m fine, just thinking about if the world will ever go back to the way it was before.”
They nodded, they understood how you felt, they thought about it everyday, that was the only thing in their minds constantly.
You look up and see Reuben and Ryan walking into the room and you got up saying goodbye to the girls before trotting beside Ryan.
He turns and looks at you and smiles “well hello there.”
“Hello to you too,” you say back and give him a side hug
Reuben chuckled “you two are really cute together”
You and Ryan look at him, eyes widened as Ryan spoke “oh we’re not together”
You enter another room with all of the Dr’s files and Ryan held your hand as Reed began to explained where to find the equipment to test his blood.
You went still, your crushes hand was touching yours, this has to be a dream..nope it wasn’t it was actually happening.
“We gonna need to test your blood, only problem is It’s in The CDC by the Santa Monica Pier.” He told Ryan “It’s going to be a bit of a travel but you should make it, if you don’t..get attacked by those things that is”
Ryan looked at him with an unamused look on his face “Geez thanks”.
You look at Ryan “I know this must be stressful for you,” you hug him and he hugs back.
He looks down at you and smiles “yeah, but I have this voice in my head that tells me to keep going, I really just want to get us both and everyone else to safety.”
You blush at the fact you’re even hugging him right now.
Reuben smiles at you both, you two reminded of him and his wife when they were younger. The love that they had for each other but you two just didn’t know it yet.
Ever since you two got here, he was your biggest shipper (Reuben shipping two people is a funny thought 😂)
Jimmy then enters the room “hey doc you know we ran out of food.”
“Yeah I know” He said rolling his eyes at Jimmy, god Jimmy was annoying sometimes “and I told you when I had more off my plate then I would go for a supply run, I have told you this 10 hundred times.”
Just then Tisha ran in “Dad we need to go and sweep those apartments before someone else cleans them out”.
Reed shook his head “There’s no way you’re going, I can’t Let you go outside with those things lumbering around.”
“But Daaad, I’m not a little girl anymore, I’m going with the others, we will be back soon” she goes to walk away but Reuben grabs her arm and pulls her back.
“Now you must be out of your mind, you DON’T go outside WITHOUT me”.
Jimmy then piped in “yeah doc just let her go, she wants to be part of the team”
“Jimmy’s right I have to do something” Tisha argues back.
“I can’t let those things take you away from me like they did your mother” Reuben stops, he can’t believe he just said that.
You and Ryan stood in shock like everyone else, you both knew nothing about what happened to Reuben’s wife, he only told you she passed awhile ago.
Now that he said that you know that it must be a sensitive subject, especially with Tisha.
“I’m sorry..I-i didn’t mean to…” Reuben regretted saying the words that came out of his mouth a minute ago.
“Your right, dad” Tisha started “I shouldn’t put this on you, I’m sorry”
You piped in “I mean I could take her and watch her back while we scavenge for supplies, you know me Reuben, I have gone with Ryan in missions for you before, it won’t be any different.”
Tisha have you a look of gratitude and appreciation and smiled at you.
Reuben let out a breath, “ok, since it’s you and I trust you, Tisha..you can go, just be careful”
She smiled and hugged him and looked at you once again “Thank you so much, I am grateful.”
You smile as she leaves and you gather your things from the table next to you Jimmy looks you up and down “looks more girly then an actual man”.
You freeze up as you heard him talk about your appearance. You felt tears prick the corner of your eyes as you felt belittled.
Ryan’s face went red “what the fuck did you just say asshat?”
Jimmy tensed up, he knew if he repeated what he said he would be on the floor in seconds.
“Ummmm…” he replied
Ryan trudged towards the man but you stopped him and Reuben threw Jimmy out of the room.
“If I EVER hear you say shit like that again Jimmy you will have to answer to me about why that behaviour is acceptable, you understand me?” You heard Reuben say outside the door.
You couldn’t really hear what Jimmy said but you were to busy trying to calm Ryan down from rage.
“Ryan, please his not worth it” you say.
“He is if it’s about you, he shouldn’t talk to you like that it’s so wrong, plus it doesn’t make you feel equal to everyone else.” (I’m sorry to anyone who has experienced the negative behaviour towards them in this area, you don’t deserve that)
You smile “I do appreciate you looking out for me.”
“Of course, i…care about you so much” he said.
You eyes widened and blush..he told you he cared about you..holy hell.
Ryan took a deep breath out “fuck it I can’t do it anymore..(Y/N)… I love you..I have had feelings for you since I met you..I want you to be mine.”
You couldn’t believe what you just heard..the person you liked..confessing that he feels the same way. You eventually look into his eyes and without stuttering say:
“Ryan, I love you too, I too have felt this way about you for awhile as well.”
You connect your lips together in a gentle kiss as Ryan placed his hand on the back of your neck and the other on your back while yours found his muscly chest.
“Ahem” came from behind you both as you both break away and see that Reuben was staring at the both of you.
“About time, I was just starting to plan to take matters into my own hands if you didn’t confess” Reuben smirked.
Both you and Ryan had red on your faces, flushed from embarrassment.
“Sorry..uh you might wanna go to Tisha..she’s waiting for you” Reuben said to you.
“Oh..yes” you grab your stuff and give Ryan a kiss before walking out.
“Be careful out there, love you” Ryan said
“Love you too” you replied as you walked to Tisha to start your run.
Dirty Hot Pogue Pt. 7
Warnings: mentions of abortion, parental angst, implied mental health issues, no smut in this one.
Series ML
No one tells you how to deal with heartbreak. They don't tell you how to deal with public humiliation. Or disappointed parents. No tells you how to pick up the pieces when you're spiraling, looking for anything to numb the pain. Some people use sex or drugs or alcohol. Others pretend. They pretend nothing happened. They pretend they don't care while burying every crippling emotion that might kill them if they don't.
So that's what I did. I told my parents I was going through a phase and I needed time away from OBX. My mother and I spent two weeks in Europe after I threw my phone in the ocean, cutting my ties off from the outside world. It didn't stop my ability to dream and lust over a certain blonde. No matter what I did, I always saw his face in every shaggy haired blonde I saw. So I made it a point to avoid blondes. Then it was guys with blue eyes. Eventually it became guys in general. The thought of kissing someone, let alone flirting, made me sick to my stomach. Time away from OBX only made the sickness that is JJ Maybank stronger. I wanted to see him. I wanted to know what he was doing. Who he was talking to. Was he okay?
But I couldn't move on if I was constantly worried about him so I took up a hobby. Every time I started to think about him, I'd go for a run or read a book. I made myself okay. I did what I needed to in order to survive without him. I knew I was incredibly insecure but hearing him tell me that they didn't work out because she would always be a Kook, hit too close to home. It was almost like deja vu. Who were we kidding? I'd never have anything with him that wasn't physical. We wouldn't be able to get married and start a family. My family would never allow it. We would be miserable and doomed to fail anyway. I did the right thing. I pursued this and I had to be the one to end it.
So after I got back to OBX, I stepped back into my old life like I'd never left. Summer was over and everyone went back to school. I made sure to stay on Figure Eight and I busied myself with online schooling and running. I made amends with my parents and I even gave my Kook "best friend" permission to see Bryce, although I know they were already sleeping together. I never once see him or his friends. My life easily becomes a routine of pleasing my parents, school, running, and hiding on Figure Eight. I stay away from parties and I stay away from men.
Although, most of the guys my age that are still here whisper "Pogue Slut" every time they see me. Like they can sleep with Pogues but I can't. I'm eight weeks into my self recovery, enjoying a backyard BBQ with my parents and a few of the neighbors when the smell of cooked meat as my stomach turning so violently, I barely make it to my mothers favorite rose bush before I'm emptying my stomach.
At first, I think it's the champagne as I try to hold my hair back and my mother comes to my aid. Well, she's more concerned about her plant but she awkwardly pats me on the back as some sort of comfort. But then, as she's ushering me inside I hear someone mention the word "pregnant" and I quickly lock eyes with two girls my age who are whispering together while openly judging me with their eyes. I glare at them over my shoulder as my mother attempts to hide me inside. I can hardly think, let alone breathe as she guides me upstairs, muttering plans that I can't quiet make out.
"We have to take care of this." She gets me to my bedroom, taking out her phone and calling someone.
"What are you talking about?" I ask. Everything is running together in my mind. I'm on birth control. I can't be.. It's just the champagne. That BBQ did smell terrible. Why is everyone making a big deal?
"Hello? Dr Thornton? Yes, this is Y/F/N's mother. I need to schedule an abortion." My eyes widen in disbelief, my mothers frantic words into the phone fade out as I turn and empty my stomach again.
"You're 22 weeks." The final nail in my coffin as the ultrasound tech turns the screen, letting me see the life forming inside me. Apparently, my birth control expired. I'd ignored the phone call from the doctor and all the unprotected sex finally caught up with me.
"You're sure?" My mother demands, making me grit my teeth as the tech awkwardly nods and shows her the screen, the baby's size being evidence enough. I couldn't believe what I was seeing as the baby kicked and moved in every direction. They said I should start feeling it anyday.
"So it's too late to have an abortion."
"Mom!" I sit up abruptly, the tech scooting back as I debate throwing something at my mother.
"Y/N, don't you scream at me. Do you even know who's child this is? Do you realize what you've done? You've humiliated me in front of the entire town!" Her words are like a knife to the heart, cutting my walls down all over again. She was worried about herself. About her reputation. Not me.
"I know who the father is." I say calmly, wiping away stray tears.
"How? I saw you in Europe flirting with all those guys. Anyone of them could--."
"I didn't sleep with a single one of them! I was just talking! I was being friendly. I was trying to have some nice adult conversations that didn't revolve around what a fuck up I am!"
"Y/N--."
"Get out! GET OUT!" I scream, just as the door opens and a nurse escorts my mother out. I lay back on the table, crying harder than I ever had in my life. It's not until the tech offers me a box of tissues that I laugh awkwardly, drying my tears and snot before she continues with the rest of the exam.
"Would you like to know the sex?" She asks, handing me the pictures she's printed out. Tears start to fall again at the distinct face in the picture. The face belonging to the baby inside me. I could already see his features in the baby. The uncanny resemblance has me already knowing what the gender is.
"Yes."
I show up at JJ's house, hoping like hell his dad's not here when he suddenly emerges out of the back door. It's late, my car packed full of my belongings after my parents promptly kicked me out for not agreeing to give the baby up for adoption. JJ was my next stop. Seeing him again had all those unresolved feelings rushing back. I wanted to beg him to forgive me. I wanted to apologize but this wasn't about me. This was about our baby. JJ was the father and deserved to know. He deserved to have a say.
"Are you lost?" JJ snaps, as I step out of the car. Apparently, all the running I'd taken up had toned me down quite a bit so I wasn't showing yet. I had a slight curve from the side but that was it. No one would believe I was pregnant despite being over halfway. So I wasn't giving it away as I slowly approached him on his back porch. Plus, he wouldn't believe me without proof.
"No. I'm exactly where I need to be." I exhale hard, ready to just rip the band aid off when a leggy brunette emerges from the door just as I pull the ultrasound pictures from my pocket. My eyes lock on her but JJ's lock on what's in my hand. My first thought is to immediately retreat. He's moved on. He won't want a family with me but I quickly snap out of it when he snatches the pictures from my hand.
"What the fuck is this, Y/N?" JJ gasps, his blue eyes wide as he searches the pictures. The girl leans in close, obviously not concerned with me before she purses her lips while nodding as she examines the pictures too. Anger washes over me. How dare some skank lean over him and openly examine ultrasounds of my baby.
"Congrats, cuz." It's like a bucket of water is poured on me as she claps him on the back and steps off the porch, grabbing a bike I hadn't seen and riding off.
Cuz. She was his cousin.
"Y/N, answer me. Is this--are you--." JJ's frantic blue eyes meet mine and I can't do anything but nod, tears streaming down my face.
"This says you're 22 weeks. Why didn't you--."
"I just found out." I sob, sinking down on the porch step as I bury my face in my hands. Thanks to the pregnancy, I found out I'm also extremely hormonal.
"It's a--."
"Yes." JJ slowly sits down next to me. I glance over at him, seeing the slight smirk on his face as he slowly shakes his head before looking at my packed car.
"Parents kicked you out, huh?"
"Yea."
"Mine too." JJ sighs, leaning back on his hands and stretching his legs out in front of him. "I just put a down payment on a one bedroom apartment."
"I don't have any money." I murmur, the tears threatening to fall again. I was pregnant with no parents, no money, and no place to live. I was hopeless. The warmth of JJ's hand finds mine and he squeezes.
"Welcome to the Pogue life, baby." I sniffle, squeezing his hand back when his brows pinch together and he withdraws his hand.
“Look, we will figure this out but I don’t trust you. I can’t just welcome you back with open arms just because your life is a dumpster fire. I’m not a last resort. I told you that from the beginning.” I nod, absorbing his words as I take a deep breath, exhaling my old life.
“I love you, JJ. I have since the beginning. I’m sorry it’s taken all this for me to tell you. We can figure this out together but I want you to know that I love you and I’m all in. Whether you are or not.”
BROO I saw you want to write MCR fics can you please do anything involving the Danger Days characters x reader?? I'd be so happy if you did<3
Girl - Party Poison x Reader
Warnings: bit of angst lol
Word Count: 1853
A/N: Hello! I wrote this last year and thought I'd revive it so hopefully this is decent :) Enjoy! Hopefully you'll request something else :)
“What time did Dr. D’s broadcast start again?” Fun Ghoul shouted from outside the diner. He had been out there for nearly an hour, working on the Trans-AM—our car.
“7:30,” I called back. “Party’s out with Jet getting the bonfire set up. The Girl’s taking a nap, but she’s bringing the radio.” Kobra and I had been sitting inside the diner at one of our favorite tables, sketching in the notebook we bought last week from Tommy Chow Mein.
“You know, the Girl thinks you don’t like her,” Kobra mentioned as he sketched a draculoid. “She told me last night during our late-night chat. I think you should tell her the truth.” He knew I wouldn’t, though.
“Did she really say that?” I looked up from my drawing, feeling upset and disappointed. Kobra nodded. “You know I like her. It’s just… weird. I don’t know how to act around her, K. What did you tell her?”
“I told her you do like her, but you show it differently than the rest of us,” Kobra replied with a knowing smile.
“Good. I do like her. Probably more than all you killjoys,” I muttered, looking back down at my drawing.
“Ugh, this damn car won’t hold paint for longer than three days in this radiation!” Ghoul yelled, kicking the ground in frustration.
“Just wait for Jet to get back, Ghoul,” Kobra shouted back. “They’re gonna be here any minute.” Jet always knew what to do with the Trans-AM. It was his car, after all.
“Who’s gonna be back any minute?” a voice rang from the garage. Party Poison, with his fiery red hair, ran into the diner, grinning. Jet Star followed close behind, walking into the back room where the Girl slept.
“Party!” I smiled, jumping up and running into his arms. He hugged me tightly, pressing his lips to my forehead.
“Hey, baby. Did Kobra take good care of you?” Party asked, glancing over at his brother.
“He sure did. We just did some drawing, nothing too wild,” Kobra laughed.
“Guys, the sun’s about to set. Can we get going?” Ghoul called from outside again.
“Yeah, we’re coming. I’ll grab the Girl,” Kobra said, heading into the back room.
“See any dracs?” I asked Party as we walked toward the car.
“Not really. A few in the distance, but we’ll be fine tonight. We always take shifts,” he said, full of energy, as usual. That was why he led us—he kept us together and safe with that boundless drive.
“There she is!” Ghoul grinned as Kobra, Jet, and the Girl got into the car. “How you doing?” Kobra and the Girl climbed into the back with Party and me, while Ghoul and Jet took the front. The car was built for four, but if I sat on Party’s lap, Kobra could squeeze the Girl in next to him, allowing us all to fit.
“I’m sleepy, but I’m ready to party tonight!” she beamed up at Kobra.
Those two had always been close. The Girl’s mom was my sister. Not that she knew that. Her mom left as soon as the Girl was born, post-Analog Wars, never telling us who the father was. Both of us had been captured by BLI and stuck in Battery City. We escaped and reached the desert just a week after she found out she was pregnant. No one had ever asked about the father. None of us wanted to know the horrors Better Living put her through. After we arrived, Kobra looked after the Girl while Party and I grew close. The others liked her, loved spending time with her, but I struggled. She was too much like her mom. I couldn’t stand watching my niece act and look just like her mother—it killed me. That’s why Party was always by my side. He knew how I felt.
“That’s great ‘cause we’re definitely ready too,” Jet smiled as we arrived at our spot. The sun finally set, leaving the desert peaceful and dark. The bonfire crackled as we got out of the car, Kobra holding the Girl’s hand. She smiled, looking happy, clutching the small boombox she’d decorated the night before.
“Wait!” Party whispered, quickly pulling out his blaster. I followed his gaze over the sand dune. Korse.
“Fuck,” I muttered, pulling out my neon purple blaster.
“This is gonna suck the life out of me. There are dracs everywhere,” Jet said, scanning the area. Blaster rays lit up the air, striking the sand and the Trans-AM. Ghoul and Jet opened fire, taking out as many dracs as they could.
“Keep the Girl safe, Kobra!” I shouted as I ran. Korse went after me first—he knew exactly who I was. Jet got knocked out by a drac with a bottle, but Fun Ghoul kept firing, then ran to check on him. Party charged toward Korse, aiming his blaster, but had to retreat when he got shot at. Two dracs grabbed my arms, holding me back as Korse stood there, smug.
“Your little girl is coming with us, Y/N,” Korse sneered, using my real name—one I hadn’t heard since I left the city. “I don’t want to hurt you, but we don’t have much of a choice.”
“You’re not taking her!” I struggled against the dracs. “We won’t let you!”
“We?” Korse smirked. “You and your little band of Killjoys? Look around—they’re all down. You’re lucky we haven’t killed anyone yet.” The dracs dragged the Girl over, and she kicked and screamed.
A yellow ray cut through the air, dropping the dracs holding me. Party. He was alive.
“Party Poison! Get the Girl to the car!” Korse shouted as the surviving draculoids swarmed her. Party dodged Korse’s shots, inching closer. I managed to break free, fumbling to pull out my blaster. But Korse was faster, firing at me and missing deliberately. I dashed toward the others, watching as Party and Korse exchanged fire, each dodging the other’s shots. Finally, Korse knocked Party’s mask into the sand, then made his escape, driving off in the Trans-AM.
“Party? Are you okay?” I asked, crawling over to him. He lay motionless, not making a sound. “Party!” I screamed. For a second, I thought he was dead. I felt like I might throw up.
“Vinyl, I’m okay,” he groaned, reaching out to hold my hand.
“You saved me back there… You didn’t have to. You could’ve been killed—”
“I’ll always choose you. You should know that by now,” he chuckled weakly, coughing as he sat up.
“Jet, Ghoul, you guys okay?” I called, helping Party to his feet.
“I’m alive, if that’s what you’re asking,” Ghoul groaned, rubbing his back. His vest had a fresh smoking hole where he’d been hit.
“Me too,” Jet called, grabbing his blaster. I looked over at the Trans-AM, where Kobra lay unconscious. Party rushed over to his brother, helping him sit up as Jet fetched some water. Once we were sure Kobra was okay, the weight of what had just happened hit me. I felt sick.
One minute I was standing in the desert, and the next, everything went black. The last thing I saw was Party running toward me before I collapsed into someone’s arms.
Bright lights. The diner. Party lying next to me. Kobra sitting above us. The Girl. Gone. I sat up as fast as I could, obviously scaring the hell out of Party, who fell off the mattress.
“The Girl! Kobra, where is she?” I shouted, looking around, tears burning in my eyes. “Where is she!?” I screamed. A pair of arms wrapped around me, holding me back. Jet and Fun ran into the room, worried looks on their faces.
“Shit, is she okay?” Fun asked, sitting next to Kobra, who shook his head.
“Where is she? I’m going to kill you, Kobra,” I yelled, tears streaming down my face. He just sat there, expressionless.
“Hush, calm down, Vinyl. Breathe,” I heard Party say softly. I looked up and found him, kissing my temple.
“I won’t be calm, Party! She’s gone. My—my niece. She thinks I hate her. She’s my only family, and she doesn’t even know it. She’s like my daughter,” I wept.
“Don’t you think she’s like my daughter too, Vinyl? I spend all my time with the Girl, trying to convince her that you don’t hate her,” Kobra muttered. He had no right to say that to me. My sister might’ve loved him, and I might love his brother, but he was supposed to protect her. He was in charge of her.
“I’m going to get her,” I tried to wriggle out of Party’s arms, but he held me tighter. “Let me go, P. I’m calm,” I said, looking at him.
“You’re not going to get her. We’re going to make a plan. Together. In a few days, we’ll find her and bring her back. In the meantime, we’ll take shifts to look after you. I’m not letting you stay up alone, and I know you’re not going to sleep—not after this,” Party said as he gently let me go, helping me sit down on our shared mattress.
“We’ll find her, Vinyl. I promise,” Kobra said, sitting down next to me. “It’s going to be okay. And if we don’t find her, then we’ll end up dusted trying.” He wiped the tears from my face before getting up and heading into the diner with Jet and Fun to start planning.
Party lay down next to me, facing me. I stayed quiet, lost in my thoughts. She thinks I hate her. She doesn’t even know we’re family. She’s probably so scared. They’re probably experimenting on her right now.
“Vinyl, breathe. She’s going to be okay. We raised her right. She knows how to look after herself,” he said, tucking a strand of my hair behind my ear.
“She thinks I hate her, Party. I can’t live knowing that she thinks I hate her,” I murmured, pressing my face into his chest. He pulled me closer.
“She knows you love her, V. I know she does. We were just talking a few days ago about you. She was asking about us, about you. Asked what you were like before she arrived. Asked if you and I were in love with each other. She notices everything between us, everything about you. Kobra and I sat her down, and we had a big conversation about you. Told her that you did like her but that she reminded you of someone you lost. The Girl understood, V. She understood. And I know she still does. She knows we’re going to come for her,” he said, cupping my face and making me look into his eyes.
“God, how is it that you always know exactly what to say to me, Party Poison? It’s like you’re made for me,” I smiled.
“Because we are made for each other,” he said, pressing his lips to my forehead and wrapping his arms around me affectionately. “We’re going to find her, V, I promise. And when we do, we’re going to tell her the truth about who she is.”
Wait until you, a Black person, realize how you’re actually viewed throughout the world and how people feel comfortable telling you how you should live your life because it’s easier to make us a target and feel bad about our blessings. Wait until you realize we are the ONLY community who goes hard for other communities while they’re calling us the N-word with the HARD R.
I don’t know what everyone’s problem is when it comes to Black people thriving and living peacefully, but if you’re Black, I want you to take up space and seize opportunities. I don’t want you to settle in any way. I don’t care who feels a type of way.
Of course, be respectful, but you being Black is disrespectful enough when they see us living our best lives.
This doesn’t just apply to people who look like me. This applies to anyone who came from poverty, anyone with dark skin, anyone who had to work their way up, and people who think you’re “privileged” when your privilege comes from faith and prayer.
Do you know how many people throw me being from the Bronx back in my face? How people doubted me? How I starved, walked in the rain with tears in my eyes, and couldn’t even call my mother to tell her about my life because I cut her off and she is going through dementia? My little sister is going through spiritual psychosis. All the men in my life assaulted me and called me stupid and ugly. I was in special ed for the majority of my life. I almost dropped out of college because my music professor didn’t believe in me, but my sociology professor, Dr. Nunez from Medgar Evers College, saw me as her daughter and took the time to tell me to keep going when I told her I was about to drop out. Thank you for believing in me while everyone doubted me.
Therefore, yes, I’m going to live my life the way I want to.
I promise I'm not greedy I'm so thankful for the quick updates but dare I ask for a crumb of chapter 5 mothers??? 🙏🏼🤞🏼🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍
She was sipping her coffee at the desk, ready for a slow day when Nick walked into the station. She furrowed her brows at him confusedly, “Hey, you. Filling in for Tom?”
“No. He’s not here yet, then? – Good. I wanted a word with you in private.”
Y/N’s breath caught. That sounded like trouble. She’d hoped Harry had scared his advances away, “ ...Nothing you could have told me over the phone? "
Nick halted in front of the desk, hands on his hips, “How well do you know that guy from the other day? The one with the cocky attitude.”
“I… uhm, why are you asking?”
“He’s bad news. I’d stay away from him if I were you.”
Y/N felt like asking him what else was new, but instead, she cleared her throat and tried to feign ignorance “What are you on about?”
“He followed me. More like stalked me. I went out after work last night, had a couple beers at the bar down the street from where I live. Parked my car at my building and walked there. Had my umbrella with me since it’d started pouring and really didn’t notice anything amiss. I was half a beer down when this guy sits next to me at the bar and when I look to my left, there he is. That guy. I initially thought that was just a weird coincidence, but your pal had a message to get across.”
“... What did he say?”
“He told me to stay away from you if I knew what was good for me. Told me to keep my dirty little paws off you, or else.” Y/N was at a loss for words. Stammering to get a word out, Nick cut her off, “He also kept calling me Mickey, he said it was like that pathetic little mouse, and that it was fitting. I swear to God, Y/N. I really had to hold back, I wanted to punch him in the face, but I didn't wanna lose risk losing my badge over this. Who the fuck does this asshole think he is?!”
Y/N fought to keep her amusement to herself. Both for the Mickey Mouse remark, but especially for the way Nick actually thought he could take on Harry.
“I don’t know what to tell you, Nick…”
“He’s trouble, Y/N.” He warned, pointing his finger at her as he walked out of the station, “He better not let me catch him in here again if he knows what’s good for him!”
When Y/N heard Nick get back into his car and drive off from the outside parking space, she allowed herself a chuckle. But sobering up, she recognized this was unacceptable on Harry’s behalf. Who did he think he was to do such a thing? It was unacceptable. He’d crossed a line. She wished she could get a hold of him and tell him off.
Making the trek to his cabin was out of the question with the state of her ankle, and with it raining she wouldn’t have even tried. Plus, he might not even be there for all she knew.
If only there were an easier way to get to him…
Glancing over to the PC, she searched on Google Maps for Dr. Niall Horan’s private practice. Two could play that game.
