Note
all these medusa retellings, do any of them even touch on Chrysaor? ain't he like a full on person? her son? anytime I look him up to see if people talk about him all I find is that he's a pedo in those percy jackson books
Rarely, theyâre more interested in giving Medusa an OC daughter or making Pegasus a girl, bc god forbid the girlboss is also a boy mom, god forbid that we explore how a son rather than a daughter feels about his dead mother.
#also Chrysaor bagged a baddie and had kids#Callirhoe was his wife and her name means beautiful flow#and he seems to have his motherâs curse of being mortal#I just looked at Callirhoeâs Theoi page and she seems to have it rough#with her being a goddess but her son and husband being mortal#interesting conflict here no?#never saw that explored#greek mythology#ancient greek mythology#greek pantheon#medusa#chrysaor#Pegasus#Callirhoe

DINNER IS (finally) SERVED
3000ish words later and part 8 is here! hope you guys enjoy!
(p.s my headcanons explainations are in the tags if you're curious)
(p.p.s credit also goes to @rin-solo for the first headcanon )
the post/thread that started this whole au
dinner scene: part 1 | part 2 | part 3 | part 4 | part 5 | part 6 | part 7
there's a masterlist now!
*odysseus is making his way to the dining hall, while athena and poseidon are following behind*
poseidon: *looking around at the decorations/tapestry dotted around*
poseidon: *seeâs a tapestry of what looks to be a very much younger odysseus in full king & armour attire*
poseidon: *stops walking, and turns to look at the actual odysseus in front of him, then back at the tapestry*
poseidon: *to odysseus with a sardonic tone* do your weavers like making you look like a boy, or was that a decision you made to make yourself look younger?
odysseus: *pauses his walking to see what poseidon is talking about*
athena: *also pauses and turns to poseidon*
odysseus: *sees the tapestry in question*
odysseus: *sighs* of course you point that one outÂ
athena: *who knew odysseus before he was king*
athena: *glaring at poseidon* uncle, you shouldnât make assumptions, especially when you donât know the facts
odysseus: *pats athena on the shoulder as he passes her*
odysseus: itâs fine athena
odysseus: *next to poseidon and looking up at the tapestry* if you must know, that is actually the age i was.Â
poseidon: *not believing him* yeah right, you couldnât be older than fifteen in this
odysseus: *turns to him with a sharp look* youâre correct, i was fifteen
poseidon: *slightly wary of odysseusâ mood* so⌠you became king at fifteen? isnât that a little bit young for a mortal to rule a kingdom?
odysseus: *turns back to the tapestry* i was already the king, i was actually crowned when i was thirteen
poseidon: *shocked and confused* why would a child be given a kingdom to run?
odysseus: *looks down with a sad smile, at the memory of his father telling him about him losing his mind, and how sorry he was to place such a huge responsibility on his young sonâs shoulders*
odysseus: well, i had no choice, but i would do it again if i had toâŚÂ
odysseus: *turns to athena* besides, i had athena to help guide me
athena: *smiles with a nod at odysseus*
odysseus: *starts walking in the direction of the dining hall again* anywayâŚenough of that, can we please just make our way to the dining hall now
*they all continue making their way down the hall*
poseidon: *notices a stain on the floor tiles not far in front of them*
poseidon: *points* i think your servants missed a spot
athena & odysseus: *both look to where heâs pointing*
athena: *chuckles to herself in knowing*
odysseus: *smirks*Â
poseidon: *sees both their expressions, and is confused*Â
odysseus: oh that..oh donât worry itâs clean
odysseus: *shrugs* itâs just so hard to get bloodstains out of white titles
poseidon: *wide eyed* blood?
odysseus: yeah.. not long after i finished with you, i arrived back on my island to find my palace overrun with 108âŚmutts⌠all vying for my wifeâs hand.Â
odysseus: *waving his hand like it was a simple issue* so i made sure to deal with them all myself⌠unfortunately one of them left a stain.
odysseus: -oh look weâve made it
odysseus: hope we havenât kept them too long
poseidon: *shocked at all the new odysseus lore heâs unlocked*
athena: *laughing at poseidonâs expression*
odysseus: *opening the door* come on letâs head in
poseidon: *shakes away the shock*
odysseus: *to poseidon* i guess itâs time to introduce you to my wife
*they all walk through the doorway into the dining hall*
*there penelope and telemachus both stand not too far from the dining table; which has quite the feast laid out, and from the steam coming off of it, it had not long be put there*
odysseus: *heads over to his son & wife*
odysseus: *looks at poseidon* poseidon, youâve met my son telemachus before.
telemachus: *can barely keep in his excitement*Â
telemachus: hi- i mean good evening lord poseidon, iâm so happ- grateful you accepted my father's invitation for dinner.Â
telemachus: *puts his arm on his chest, and leans forward in a bow of respect* i hope you enjoy the evening.
odysseus: *narrows his eyes at poseidon, silently threatening him to not be rude to his son*
telemachus: *looks back up at poseidon, smile on his face*
poseidon: *quickly nods his head in greeting to telemachus* good evening prince, your father tells me that this was all your ideaÂ
telemachus: *raises a hand to nervously scratch under his chin* um⌠yes i guess it was
poseidon: well then, thank you for the idea to invite me.
telemachus: *hand leaves his chin and a big smile breaks out* well of course! you are my fatherâs friend after all!
poseidon: *eye twitches before he quickly composes himself*Â
poseidon: yes⌠friend.
odysseus: *coughs* yes and now that youâve both reacquainted yourselves again telemachus why donât you go speak with athena for a moment
telemachus: sure!
*telemachus makes his way to athena, and they start talking amongst themselves*
odysseus: *puts his arm around penelopeâs waist* now, please let me introduce you to my wife; the queen of ithaca, penelope.Â
penelope: *doesnât bow like telemachus, but nods in greeting* welcome to our palace lord poseidon
poseidon: *nods back* thank you for having me queen penelope
penelope: *smiles but her eyes have a certain glint to them*Â
penelope: my husband has told me all about your part in his journey home to us
poseidon: *totally not panicking a little* uh-
penelope: *glint leaves her eyes, but her smile remains*
penelope: -and also how you have helped out on his and my sonâs fishing trips lately.
penelope: of course, i would also like thank you for taking the time to attend tonight
poseidon: sure⌠no problem?
odysseus: great, everyone has met everyone!Â
odysseus: *to everyone* now, shall we sit down and eat the lovely feast the cooks have made us, before it gets cold?
odysseus: *moves to pull out one of the chairs at the head of the table for penelope as he normally does, when he notices that, there is only one chair instead of two*
odysseus: *looks up at the table and sees a piece of parchment with âmotherâ written on it*Â
odysseus: huh?
telemachus: *makes his way over to his father* oh! thereâs a different than usual seating plan for tonight! iâve put everyone's names where they should sit.
odysseus: *smiles at telemachus* oh ok, sure!
odysseus: well, i guess i should look for mine then, hey?
telemachus: yes, and please everyone else too!
*everyone makes their way to the table to see where theyâre sitting (even though three of them already know)*
odysseus: *sees the parchment with âfatherâ on it*Â
odysseus: *expecting to have either athena or telemachus next to him*
odysseus: *watches as athena stands in front of the seat opposite him*
odysseus: *thinks itâs weird to put athena & poseidon together, but thinks telemachus has done is as they are uncle & niece*
odysseus: *then sees telemachus stood in front of the seat next to athena*
odysseus: wait-
poseidon: *sees his name and heads towards it, only to look up and see odysseus standing in front of the seat next to him*
poseidon: wait-
poseidon & odysseus: *both look at each other in horror that they're stuck next to each other all evening*
telemachus: *not noticing the looks of doom on their faces* isnât this great? itâs a family dinner, so what better than friends sitting together?Â
telemachus: *turning to penelope* sorry youâre by yourself at the head of the table though mother
penelope: *smiles and waves her hand* i donât mind
penelope: anyway, let's sit and eat!
*everyone but odysseus and poseidon sit down. both who have a death grip on the back of their seats*
penelope: *clears her throat* odysseus, lord poseidon⌠would you both please sit down.
odysseus: *snaps out of his staring at poseidon*Â
odysseus: uh sureâŚ
odysseus: *sits down and look back to poseidon, nodding his head at poseidonâs seat in the motion for him to also sit down*
poseidon: *still doesnât sit*
odysseus: *a millisecond of a flash of red eyes*Â
poseidon: *sits*
odysseus: *internally to himself* oh this is gonna be a long evening
odysseus: *to everyone* ok, everyone dig in!
odysseus: *to poseidon* can you get what you want for yourself, mighty sea god? or do you need a mortalâs help?
poseidon: *grabbing a lamb chop off a platter and tearing into it savagely in defiance*
odysseus: *rolls his eyes at poseidon, but goes to place a filet of fish on his plate*
*everyone has been eating and talking*
poseidon: *looks at penelope (who is talking to telemachus & athena) and then looks at odysseus*
poseidon: *thinking and then looks back to penelope*
odysseus: *to poseidon* is there a reason you keep looking at my wife?
poseidon: *jumps at little at being caught looking*Â
poseidon: *turns to odysseus* oh do not worry yourself, i have no interest in your wife
odysseus: *unimpressed* why do you keep looking at her then?
poseidon: im..curiousÂ
odysseus: *narrowing his eyes* about?
poseidon: normally you mortal men choose women younger than them for their wives⌠yet clearly your wife is; from my estimates⌠about a decade older than you
poseidon: *now with his hand under his chin, leaning on the table*Â
poseidon: do you perhapsâŚprefer older women odysseus?
odysseus: *hands tighten in grip around his cutlery*
poseidon: *notices odysseus hasnât responded yet*
poseidon: iâm right arenât -
odysseus: no.
odysseus: *his eyes may not be red, but are clearly full of anger*
poseidon: *eyes widen in worry* whoa whoa! no need to get angry, itâs just a simple observationâŚ. anyone if they pay attention can see the age difference
poseidon: *moves his hand to flick his hair back over his shoulder* itâs not a bad thing
odysseus: *takes a breath in to calm down and then slowly releases it*
odysseus: we are- were the same age⌠physically at least
poseidon: *confused* i donât follow
odysseus: *looks at poseidon* during the 10 years it took for me to get home⌠i found myself stuck on a goddessâ island for 7 of themâŚ
poseidon: okâŚ
odysseus: *closes his eyes* caly- the goddess had full control over everything on the island⌠her magic influenced everything⌠including a mortal's ability to age.
poseidon: so you didnât-
odysseus: -age? yeah
odysseus: *sighs and opens his eyes* when i realised i wasnât⌠i- i-Â
odysseus: lets just say i didnât handle it well
poseidon: *blinks at this new information* oh
odysseus: yep âohâ indeedâŚÂ
odysseus: *looks back at poseidon*
odysseus: didnât you think it was odd that i looked exactly the same when we met again, almost 10 years after our first meeting?
poseidon: in my defence⌠i was angry and trying to kill you, i wasnât really paying attention to how you looked
odysseus: *rolls his eyes* i guess that's true
telemachus: uh lord poseidon? may i ask you a question?
poseidon: *happy to not continue his conversation with odysseus*
poseidon: *to telemachus* ask away prince of ithaca
telemachus: is it true that you gave achilles his horses balius & xanthus?
poseidon: *amazed at telemachusâ knowledge*Â
poseidon: not directly⌠but yes i am the reason he came to acquire them. you see i gave them to his father peleus, as a wedding gift for his wife thetisâŚ
*poseidon continues to tell the tale, and odysseus speaks with athena and penelope while more time passes*
*the meal is continuing smoothly as can be*
poseidon: *notices that odysseus has only been eating the fish. not touching a single bit of pork, beef or lamb that's also on the table*Â
poseidon: *who has continuously eaten all meats available*
poseidon: *to odysseus* is there something i should know about the meat?
odysseus: huh?
poseidon: *points at the selection of meat in question* what's wrong with the meat? youâve only touched the fish.
poseidon: if i hadnât seen the others eat it, iâd worry youâd asked your cooks to poison it or something.Â
odysseus: *raised eyebrow* poison wonât hurt you though?Â
odysseus: *pointing a fork at him* also, why do you care about my eating habits?
poseidon: *frowning at the fork* i donât, iâm just-
odysseus: curious? poseidon, i thought you were the god of the sea, not curiosityâŚ
poseidon: *huffs* forget it-
odysseus: i canât
poseidon: *now his eyebrow is raised* youâŚcanât?
odysseus: *now using the fork to push the food on his plate around* i canât stomach eating lamb, pork or beef anymore
poseidon: *forever confused by odysseus* uh why?
odysseus: *gives poseidon a âdo i really have to explain everything?â look*
poseidon: *just stares*
odysseus: *once again sighing because of poseidon* well i thought youâd understand lamb⌠after the whole sheep incident with⌠your son.
odysseus: then after i escaped you with the wind bag-
poseidon: *rolls his eyes at the memory*
odysseus: we wound up on the sorceress circeâs island⌠where she turned my men to pigs.Â
odysseus: i managed to convince her to turn them back, but it now feels weird to eat pork
odysseus: as for beef, short story is my men ignored my warnings and killed the sacred cattle of the sun god⌠so yeah beef is a no go for me also.Â
poseidon: *wondering how one mortal managed to interact with so many gods on a journey to get home*
poseidon: *laughs at odysseus* and youâre letting that affect your eating habits? i expected you to be stronger than that odysseus
odysseus: *narrows his eyes at poseidon* oh just like how you let my handling of your trident, affect you into doing as i say?
poseidon: *now glaring back*Â
poseidon: *turns away from odysseus* whatever, more meat for me
*dinner continues, with telemachus asking poseidon more questions. poseidon loving the interest in him and telelmachusâ knowledge, answers the all the questions with surprising enthusiasm*
*eventually what was once a giant feast of food has nearly been cleared from the table, thanks to having two gods eating most of it*
telemachus: have you enjoyed yourself so far lord poseidon?Â
telemachus: *smiling* itâs been really fascinating and fun to learn so much more about you
poseidon: *almost letting a small smile appear on his face in return*
poseidon: *instead just nods* yes, it certainly has been an interesting & knowledgeable evening
telemachus: what about the seating, was it a good idea to put you with my father?
poseidon: *wants to answer no, but feels a kick from under the table. clearly from odysseus*
poseidon: yes, you came up with an ok-
odysseus: *gives another kick*Â
poseidon: -great idea
telemachus: *laughs in happiness*Â
telemachus: oh but i canât take all the credit
odysseus: *raises an eyebrow in curiosity*Â
athena: *who is sipping wine next to him*
athena: *slightly chokes* wai-
odysseus: *suspicious* son, you must make sure to tell us who else to thank for this
telemachus: *not understanding the bombshell heâs about to drop* oh athena actually came up with the idea!
athena: *suddenly nervous with the two very intense stares directed at her*
athena: w-well it was just a suggestion reallyâŚ
telemachus: no âthena! remember you said as itâs a family dinner, friends should sit with friends!
odysseus: *to athena with the fakest smile* oh athena, how considerate!
penelope: *who has been quiet this whole exchange*
telemachus: *as if he hasnât already unknowingly thrown one person to the wolves* but i of course had to run it by mother first, as she was helping me with all the planning!
penelope: *eyes have totally not widened*
telemachus: she said it was a great idea!
odysseus: *now to penelope* oh my dear wife, a great idea eh?
poseidon: *just chugs back his cup of wine at the revelations*
*after a awkward moment (at least for 4 of them) they continue on finishing the meal*
*eventually the food is finished and the dinner has come to an end, everyone has moved away from the dinner table and are now sitting on cushion chairs or standing around them talking amongst themselves*
poseidon: *looking out the window seeing just how dark the night sky now is*Â
poseidon: well this has been a lovely evening, but it is getting late and i have been away from the sea for as long as i can.
poseidon: *turning to penelope and nodding his head in actual respect* queen penelope, thank you for your hosting
poseidon: *without nodding at them* athena, odysseus⌠good night.
*before poseidon can turn to bid telemachus good night, the prince runs out the room*
telemachus: *yelling before he leaves the room* please lord poseidon, wait a moment! i forgot something!
poseidon: *turns to look at odysseus in confusion*Â
odysseus: *just shrugs also confused*Â
poseidon: *turns back to the door, telemachus long gone* uh sure.
*not long later telemachus runs back into the room dishevelled but holding something in his hand*
telemachus: *walks up to poseidon*Â
telemachus: *bows and holds out something covered in a silk cloth to him*
poseidon: uh-
telemachus: itâs a gift! iâm not expecting anything in return, and iâm sure you have better things⌠but i saw it and thought youâd like it
poseidon: *blinks, but takes the gift from telemachusâ hands*
poseidon: *carefully unties the silk cloth*
poseidon: *breathes in sharply*
telemachus: *not sure if that's a good or bad reaction* uh if you donât like it that's fin-
poseidon: *holds his hand to stop telemachus*Â
poseidon: prince of ithac-
telemachus: telemachus- sorry for interrupting. please my lord, call me telemachus
poseidon: âŚtelemachus. thank you, this is a very thoughtful gift.Â
poseidon: i will cherish it.
penelope & odysseus: *curious over what's got the god of the seas âcherishingâ something*
athena: *small smile as she knows*
*penelope & odysseus move closer to poseidon who is still staring down at his gift. once close enough they can see in his hand is a a handcrafted glass/crystal hippocampus*
*poseidon ended up wrapping it back in the silk cloth, and placing it in his chiton. He then thanked telemachus again and bid him good night & farewell. odysseus offered to walk back to the cove with him, but poseidon waved him off and told him to stay with his family*
#poseidon: *returned home back to his palace*#poseidon: *once again looking at the gift this time with a small smile on his face*#amphitrite: *looking at poseidon* whatcha got there?#poseidon: *stuffs telemachusâ gift into his chiton* uh⌠uhâŚMOLY?!#amphitrite: *raised eyebrow* the king of ithaca⌠odysseus gave youâŚmoly?#poseidon: this isn't from odysse- *cough* i mean; no⌠he didn't#poseidon: it's from his son.#amphitrite: *now both eyebrows raised in disbelief* the prince gave you moly?#poseidon: *panicking as he's the god of the seas not of lies*#poseidon: well they're descended from hermes⌠he practically hands out this stuff as you knowâŚ#amphitrite: uh huh... what ever you say husband#okay headcanon 1 - calypso said 'under my spell we're stuck in paradise' & to me this made me think well if she controls everything#then surely a goddess' magic can have other consequences like stopping a mortal aging. or extremely slowly aging.#once poor odysseus realises he wasn't getting older but his son and wife would be...he broke fearing he'd outlive them#calypso obvs doesn't also want the love of her life getting old/dying on her too#also credit to @rin-solo for this head canon too!#headcanon 2 - it actually happened while i was eating a burger. i thought man i'd struggle to eat any meat after all what ody went through#and so thats how that came to be! i believe he will eat goat/rabbit/chicken etc. but fish is easier with y'know ithaca being a island#so telemachus' gift has been revealed! i thought a hippocampus would be better that just a sea creature or horse. why not both?#also there will be a part 9...ody's revenge/punishment for athena and penelope's seating plan#but i need a small break after this monstrosity#odysseus epic#poseidon epic#telemachus epic#penelope epic the musical#epic the musical#epic: the musical#friends in higher places au?#nonsense thoughts

I have such a strong adoration for the idea of Ares and Aphrodite as a couple.
First, you have Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love and Beauty. She is literal desire and could have practically any mortal or immortal she wanted, yet it's Ares that she wants in the end. And while Ares is described as being handsome, it's pretty clear that is not what draws Aphrodite to him. There's something about him, something deeper than his good looks, and the idea that she loves him even when it's said that the others on Olympus (even his own parents) all hate him. It's just such a powerfully romantic idea.
And then you have Ares, the God of War, described as being brutal and bloodthirsty. Yet despite all of that, there is a softer side to him that not many people really take in and yet it makes itself clear every time for Aphrodite. She's beautiful, yes, but there's obviously more to it than that. He's not simply in lust with her, he's in love with her, meaning like her, he sees past the basic attractiveness and there's something much deeper that draws him in. They're both judged for their outter appearance but see each other on a much deeper level than that.
(You also have the fact that Aphrodite is/was a War Goddess which again makes their connection all the more fascinatingly sweet.)
And you know one of the other things I love about them? Their unhealthy moments are somehow just as (twistedly) sweet as their healthy ones: I mean Aphrodite was so jealous of Ares relationship with Eos that she cursed her with insatiable lust for men. Meanwhile Ares was so jealous of Aphrodite's relationship with Adonis that he killed him. They're perfectly imperfect together!
Not to mention their whole general story - falling in love, forced to seperate when Aphrodite was given to his brother instead, sneaking around behind her husbands back so they could be together, having children including a daughter who is literally the Goddess of Harmony and a son who is the God of Reciprocated Love - you can't get more of a classic love story than this!

What went down when Odysseus arrived At Troy with Paris being :D while Odysseus is carrying Telemachus thinking of 1001 ways to screw with Paris for kidnapping him and his son away from Penelope?
Odysseus started projecting his period cramps onto Paris. /j
On a more serious note, I have this snippet in mind:
"So that's what I am now? A damsel at best and a whore at worst?" had the bitterness on his tongue weighed less, Odysseus might've had more tact, especially towards his patron goddess.
(Any god could betray a mortal with little to no consequence, but that never applies to a mortal that offends a god.)
"Is that what you believe, son of Laertes?" the owl's feathery brow cocks upwards ever so slightly, which is Athena's equivalent of a disappointed groan.
Odysseus breathed once, twice, and hated how his chest still twinged at the lack of salt and goats in his lungs despite the walls towering outside his sliver of a window.
Instead, he focused on the bundle that remains in his arms, on the beautiful embroidery and artful weaving of the blanket, the downy curls as dark and beautiful as the woman who birthed this precious babe.
There was a difference between belief and fact, blurred as those lines could easily be.
And Odysseus, warrior of the mind, was taught to put his faith in facts.
Fact: he is a prisoner in a gilded cage.
Fact: escape will not be easy.
Fact: he is neither damsel nor whore. He is a king, a warrior and more importantly, a husband to Penelope and father to Telemachus.
"No." he replies, cradling his little wolf closer to his chest. "I do not believe that."
Had she a mouth in place of a beak, Athena would've smiled.
"I still intend to make sure you don't fall behind. Don't forget you're still a warrior of a very special kind." Athena intoned.
"A warrior of the mind." Odysseus echoed solemnly.
"Don't disappoint me." Odysseus blinked and Athena was gone, nary a feather left as evidence of her visit.

Ok, so I am HOWLING with laughter.
So, have you heard? People are comparing Percy and Annabeth to................Odysseus and Penelope.
When I heard this, you don't know how funny it was to me. I almost choked on my spit. LMAOOOOOOOOOOO
Penelope would NEVER hit or insult Odysseus. She doesn't play mind games with him and they communicate properly.
Odysseus and Penelope are not toxic. Percabeth is.
Also, Rick Riordan is LEAGUES worse than Homer. Like, the guy cannot even compare to the ACTUAL GREEK POET.
And people are actually comparing the two.
Percy Jackson IS good at times, but it will NEVER compare to Homer's compositions. Literally never.
TBH that's just my personal opinion.
Also, Homer actually composed many of the Greek epics that we still read today.
I get why people would want to compare them, but there is no comparison, really. It's so fucking funny to me.
Anyway, what are your thoughts on Percabeth compared to Odysseus and Penelope?
That comparison alone has ruined the New Year for me. It's an insult to the Odyssey. Hell, it's an insult to the recently released Ithaca Saga of Epic the Musical.
But seriously, are these things actually being said? Cause that puts Percabeth stans from delusional category to brain dead.
Homer's Iliad and The Odyssey are one of history's most reputed myths of all time. And the primary source of Greek mythology for many people. I am certain Rick himself referred Homer's works for ideas and references. Even Riordan himself would be ashamed to compare his writing to Homer, in even the slightest manner.
Now to Odysseus and Penelope; the greatest couple of all time, truly and undeniably. The orignal eternal love. Even Hera, the goddess of marriage and family, considers Odysseus and Penelope's marriage bed sacred. Which Odysseus carved out of a living tree as a symbol of their undying love and so that it could never be moved.
Odysseus crawled through hell to get to Penelope and Telemachus. He survived and won the 10 year long Trojan war, defeated/ tricked a Cyclops, countless mythical monsters, Circe, Calypso, and even Zeus himself and at last Poseidon. That alone is beyond comprehension. Because Odysseus isn't a demigod or any specially blessed being. No, he is just an ordinary mortal, a genius mortal, one trained by the wisdom goddess but an ordinary mortal all the same. Yes, he is one of a kind genius, but these are literally eldritch creatures compared to him.
Let me put it this way, Odysseus is the OG Batman. He is who all smart fictional human characters aspire to be.
The Odyssey is literally about the all transcending power of human will. Of Odysseus's sheer fucking will to get back home, to his wife and son. That's it. A common desire of a common man, yet so miraculously burning and indomitable in Odysseus's mind that it alone outshines his extraordinary genius.
He quite literally died on his way there. Had to hitch a ride through the Underworld and then some.
Then he had to sacrifice his ENTIRE CREW, HIS FRIENDS, HIS COMRADES to get back to Ithaca. Mind you, Odysseus had the record of getting every single one of his 600 men alive out of Trojan War. The only one to have done so. And he had to lose some to the tragedies and then WILLINGLY SACRIFICE others to get back to Penelope.
I don't think there are words enough to encapsulate Odysseus's dedication.
Now Penelope. The thing is, she is just as bloody impressive. The Queen of Ithaca and a Spartan Princess, she is also one of a kind. Throughout Odysseus's departure and the suitors' invasion , not five, not ten, 108 SUITORS, Penelope held her own, keeping the castle, her son Telemachus and herself secure. All the while, raising Telemachus and running the kingdom on her own as well.
She tricked the suitors into an eternally futile game of trying to lift Odysseus's bow and shoot with it. Tricked them by telling them she was weaving Odysseus's shroud, which, when finished, would signify that she is picking a new husband. Each day, she would weave for all suitors to see, and each night, she would unravel the shroud. All in an attempt to stall. Among the many other ways, she did so. Including STEADFASTLY DENYING EACH AND EVERY SUITOR CONSTANTLY FOR YEARS AS THEY ASKED FOR HER HAND, NEVER ONCE LOSING HOPE OR FAITH IN ODYSSEUS.
When Odysseus returns, disguised as a beggar, she not only immediately recognizes him but subtly helps him in killing the suitors, which then Odysseus and Telemachus proceed to do.
All 108 suitors dead in a night. Add that to 600 men under Odysseus's command. 708 lives murdered and then some all for Odysseus and Penelope to reunite.
And this is me abridging the whole thing. Imagine the struggle, the suffering, the mental and physical trauma. 20 years straight. You can't fathom it.
I don't think I have words enough to state how repulsively disrespectfully wretched this comparison is. I would use an analogy, but it's so horrendous that I don't think there's one that suffices.
I literally have more than half the posts dedicated to dismantling the delusion of percabeth being a perfect ship, so I won't preach to the choir, but I mean Annabeth's fatal flaw is Hubris and Percy's is Personal Loyalty. Go figure.
If that isn't enough, Percy jumped in Tartarus for Annabeth. She fell, but Percy jumped, among the many other ways he has saved her from countless deaths. And Annabeth offers him what in return? It would have been alright if she gave him nothing in return, but somehow, the situation is EVEN WORSE.
Physical and mental demeaning. Toxic and controlling attitude and of course BLAMING HIM FOR GETTING KIDNAPPED AND HAVING HIS MEMORY WIPED BY A GODDESS. WOW, THAT SOUNDS SO SIMILAR TO PENELOPE AND ODYSSEUS.
Not to mention, Penelope accepted her husband, as he was. Even after being so completely changed by his tragic journey that he was quite literally NO LONGER HIMSELF.
And Percy when had to CHOKE AKHYLS WHO WAS DEFINITELY GOING TO KILL HIM AND ANNABETH, WAS KILLING HIM AND ANNABETH, OUT OF SELF DEFENSE AND SHE BLAMES HIM AND FORCES HIM TO PROMISE NOT TO USE HIS POWERS TO DEFEND HIMSELF???
WHAT THE FUCK??? And sure it would have been ignorable had it not had any long term effects. BUT NO PERCY ALMOST KILLS HIMSELF OUT OF KEEPING HIS PROMISE TO ANNABETH.
Call them whatever the hell you want but DON'T EVER COMPARE THEIR RELATIONSHIP TO ODYSSEUS AND PENELOPE.
PERCY DESERVES INFINITELY BETTER THAN ANNABETH. Enough said, really.

Ok but what if Hera noticed Odysseus? She never seems to care about humans at all, much less heroes (Jason Happened but regardless), still she is the goddess of marriage. And of enduring a cheating bastard of a husband. The Trojan War is over, the spoils are getting collected, soldiers returning home and there is Odysseus messing up every step of the way. Singing about his wife and son. And he won't shut up about them. Hera blessed their marriage she must at least know a bit about those two. Why isn't their bond weaker ten years apart? Why is he still dreaming about her? He doesn't miss the comfort of his kingdom he misses his wife. And then stuff keeps happening and it keeps getting weirder. He pisses off the gods, he won't lay with Circe and even she is like "damn ok, guess I'll help you", a PROPHET tells hims he will never return home and Odysseus Keeps Going. He KEEPS singing about his wife, he sees Penelope on the sirens, he hallucinates her. Hera watches as Zeus uses the vision of Penelope to make him sacrifice his entire crew. It works. They lock him up in an island for 7 years with a goddess and he still. Won't. Cheat. He is disgusted by the notion of being a pet, of breaking his vows. Gods will go astray for much less. On the other side of the bond. Hera watches Penelope (weary, tired, heartbroken) fight off the suitors that won't respect her sacred vows, she schemes, she dreams of her husband, she refuses to believe him dead. And the suitors keep showing zero respect for her marriage. Zero respect for Hera's dominion. Hera would despise to marry any of them to her.
But still, it would be easier, safer, to marry any of them. Just as it would be easier for Odysseus to cheat, even for comfort. They are just mortals. Why won't they do it? How many marriages has Hera observed? She knows they break for much less, she doesn't understand. 20 years apart and their bond shines just as bright as the day Hera blessed their union What if Hera, for once in her eternal life, looked down from Olympus and watched? And cared?
#she wouldn't stop odysseus trials because she still wants to see him proving himself as a husband#but oh boy god games would've never happened#hera#penelope#odysseus#epic the musical#the wisdom saga

âÂˇË ŕź * to love a soul

warnings: none pairing: cupid! percy jackson x psyche! reader a/n: Iâm so genius for this tell me Iâm a fucking genius
the most beautiful girl in the village, praised yet never loved. your looks claimed to be more appealing than even aphrodite herself. if this was the case then how come you couldnât find love? how could your sisters less seductive than you find husbands and start a family while youâre left better admired from afar?
many boys approach you. they only want one thing, you know if it but you wouldnât allow it. you yearned for love, true love. It was a shame they could not feel the same for you. your sister, calliope enters your family home, a smirk on her lips. she walks over to your sitting self
âIt is sad that you sit at homeâ
you continue cutting your vegetables, your eyes not once being taken off your knife. when you stay silent in return your sister continues speaking, âyou are of age for a husband. it is pathetic you take care of the house yet you have nobody to take care ofâ
âIf you came here to insult me then leave. I am busyâ
âyou should be busy finding a husband. many boys have told me of their love for you, why wonât you let them love you?â
you sigh and place the knife down, forcing yourself to face your sister. âthey do not love me. they only wish to bring me to bedâ
âthis is why you will not find a husband. you are a disappointment to the familyâ your sister remarks before returning to her bedroom
you avert your eyes back to your previous task and wait as the rest of your family trickles in for dinner
ŕŠâŠâ§âË
aphrodite was unhappy. how could a silly girl possibly have gotten more compliments on her looks than the very goddess of beauty? she would not allow this, she would never allow this
âperseus!â she calls from her throne. soon after a dark haired boy appears
âyou called?â percy asks, standing before his mother
âmy dear have you heard of the beautiful mortal? the one who is dared to be compared to I?â
percy shakes his head. âno, motherâ
âwell now you have. I would like you to make her fall in love with the most vilest of men, will you do that for me, my dear?â
the love goddess takes her sonâs face in her hands as he agrees to her request. she kisses his forehead gently
âthank you, my dear. do not make me waitâ
âI will not motherâ
ŕŠâŠâ§âË
your father was angry. at your grown age you should have been married with children by this time and it was unfortunate that such a lovely girl had not chosen anyone yet. he seeks out help from the oracle of delphi. apollo had told him that you, dressed in a black dress should be brought to the summit of a mountain to be left alone. a winged man would arrive and take you as his wife
your father returned home late in the night and woke you from your slumber, in your groggy state you sit up
âfather? what is it?â you take notice of his worried demeanor, yours beginning to appear similar
âyou must leaveâ
your brows furrow. âwhat do you mean? It is lateâ
âI have gotten news you will meet your husbandâ
âhusband?â
âyes, yes, comeâ
your father grabs your arms and hauls you up from your bed. âyou must wear a black dress, do you have any of the color?â
âI doâ
âthen hurry. I will be waitingâ
he hurryâs out of your room and youâre left alone again. you scavenge through your dresser until you come across a dark dress and quickly you change into it. you scurry out of the house and before you know it youâre left at the summit by yourself. you sit on the ground and wait, soon falling back into slumber
when you wake the sound of clear stream fills your ears. your eyes open met with gold columns, silvers walls, and floors of precious stones. a godâs palace it must be. you stand up, seemingly dressed in a silk nightdress. your fingers trace the delicate walls, admiring the beauty of the room when a voice speaks to you:
âthe palace is for you. do not be afraid. take a bath and we will honor you with a great dinnerâ
you turn to find the body belonging to the voice but nobody is near. you frown and take notice of the bathroom door opening on the opposite side of the room. you look back once at the wall and head to the bathroom for your bath
when you finish another dress is settled onto the bed, a soft shade of pink. you assume whomever the voice belonged to must have left it out for you. you clutch your towel closer to your skin and look around again, seeing no one before dressing and leaving to the dining room; a beautiful feast had been set up for you. that evening you ate well that night and went to bed with a full stomach; sleep came easy to you
ŕŠâŠâ§âË
a kiss to your shoulder woke you up. your eyes flutter open, but nothing is to be seen
âI am sorry for waking youâ the voice says and you feel lips on your shoulder again
âwho are you?â you whisper into the darkness
âyour husbandâ
âyou are a god?â
âyesâ
you roll on your back eager to face him but youâre met with only dark; you pout. the god takes your arm in his grasp, and starting at your fingertips he kisses up your arm, your neck, your jaw, then connects your lips. you sigh in contentment but the kiss ends too soon
against the lips of the god you inquire, âwill you come back?â
âI will never leaveâ
you smile. when even the god leaves you canât help the warmness permanently staining all your systems
the following nights the god visits you while you slept (although you woke every time). though you never did see the appearance of your lover. the more time you spent at the palace the more you admittedly missed your family. you ask the god to have them visit, he replies saying they are allowed to visit but you arenât to be influenced by them or your relationship would suffer a great deal
the visiting of your sisters was unpleasant, envy radiating and pooling out with ever word. they admired the palace, jealous you had gotten treated better than they ever could have. when they were leaving the played a trick on you
âdo you know what I heard, sister?â calliope asks you
âwhat?â
your other sister, amalthea speaks, âhe is a monster. that is why he doesnât allow you to see himâ
calliope nods in agreement âyes, how could you sleep with such an awful creature?â
âhe is notâ you defend
âhave you seen him?â asks amalthea
you shake your head
âvery well. we will be leaving nowâ
ŕŠâŠâ§âË
the following days you couldnât help but think about the lasts words your sisters has told you. what if it had been true? you had been deceived! you did find it odd your lover had never showed in daylight, but only the darkness of the night. you made a decision- you would light a candle and enter his bedchambers while he slept. if he was a monster you would kill him, if he was a man you would let him live
you snuck in quietly, eager yet worried for what you might discover laying on the bed. your heart nearly pounds out of your chest, your palms get sweaty. you at last hold the candle above your lover and you thanked the gods for the sight you saw. a beautiful male sleeps peacefully, although dark hair unruly from tossing. you send a single prayer to the gods and when your eyes open you see the god had woken from the light of your candle
he looks at you once before leaving the room, you follow behind crying out pleads of forgiveness. your lover turns around and faces you
he says, âlove cannot live without trustâ before flying into darkness
how stupid had you been! your lover was the god of love and you broke his trust. you cried for days and days, searching for him but found nothing. without knowing what else to do you went to the temple of aphrodite and asked to see her son again. aphrodite, still jealous of you had not allowed you to be let of easily. she asked you to complete three tasks for her
the goddess showed her a dune of many seeds. âthe first: you will separate all these seeds before this afternoon or you are not to see perseus againâ
alas, you began separating the seeds, tears streaming down your cheeks. the ants saw your despair and helped move the seeds. aphrodite, angry fell to her bed and decided your next task would be impossible to complete. meanwhile, percy was not allowed to leave his room, where he was mourning your betrayal
after you first task was complete aphrodite came to you again
âcan you see those black waters?â she points to a river in the distance and you nod âthat is river estige. fill this bucket with its waterâ
you descended to the river. the rocks were slippery and steep and the water rushed through abruptly, only a winged creature could approach. and indeed an eagle came to your rescue, it felt sympathy for you struggling to capture water. It seized your bucket and filled it with water, returning it back to you
aphrodite appeared to you again, telling you that you had not completed the task without help, leaving you for another task. you were to visit the underworld and ask persephone to drain a little of her beauty. obediently you did so. the path was treacherous but you managed. when you arrived you stood before the spring goddess and asked her to complete your task. she gladly helped an drained a little of her beauty. you took the box back from her hands and went to bring it to the love goddess who was furious
âI will never let you go!â aphrodite yells, âyou will always be my servant, do remember that foolish mortalâ
ŕŠâŠâ§âË
percy found you weeping in his mothers garden. he approaches you slowly, sitting beside you, allowing you to cry in his arms and in your vulnerable state you let him
âI am sorryâ you muster out
âit is okay. please do not cryâ percy requests, running a comforting hand up and down your back
âIt is not! I betrayed your trustâ
âyour redeem yourself. you completed all the tasks my mother put upon you. If anything you were only curious, I do not blame youâ
âare you sure?â
âI am very sure, my loveâ
from that point on you hadnât been harassed by the love goddess. as a wedding gift zeus had granted you immortality, making you the goddess of the soul. he handed you an ambrosia square to seal the deal. you had been happy to live in the palace with percy and it was seemingly okay with his mother who had the attention back on her now that you had been married. all peace was restored at last

Iâve wanted to write an Eros and psyche myth inspired fic for awhile now and I thought sylus fit perfectly! So here we are
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
The myth: Eros and psyche, a Greek myth told throughout time. Psyche was a humble maiden who was said to be as or even more beautiful than Aphrodite herself. When the goddess of love heard the mortals were worshiping psyche instead; in a jealous rage Aphrodite sent her son Eros to shoot psyche with one of his arrows, demanding that the maiden fall in love with the most terrible monster. When Eros saw psyche he fell in love with her beauty but also her humble kind heart. He struck himself with his own arrow. Completing his motherâs wishes. Just as it was told by the oracle psyche went to visit, she was destined to marry a monster the gods even fear. Carried by the wind to a magical palace in the sky. Psyche had everything she could ask for but there was one thing that was asked of her in return. she could only meet her husband in the darkness of night.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
âWas the palace to your liking?â
He hears your quick intake of breath and the rustle of fabric indicating you had turned around to where you heard his deep voice emerge from the open balcony doors. Sylus didnât mean to frighten you. But when you were both covered in darkness, there wasnât much room for subtlety for when he made his presence known.
âWho-â you pause âYoure himâŚâ your sweet voice comes from a couple of steps ahead of him. His heart flutters at the sound, being able to hear it up close for the first time. but at the same time his heart pangs at the sound of the slight quiver in it. Sylus manages a light chuckle at your statement. âYour husband? Yes, that would be me.â Sylus smiles although you wouldnât be able to see it. He liked how it sounded, husband. Yours.
The chuckle that he let out seemed to wrap around you in dark tendrils. Inciting you to seek out the source of the sound although it had sent a shiver down your back. But you quickly realized it wasnât an unpleasant feeling. âHave you come to kill me?â The question leaves your mouth without thought .
Sylus is not surprised you would ask that. The whole predicament that you found yourself in, made him understand your nervous thoughts and he sought to provide you comfort. âNow my sweet lady, what type of husband would I be if I did so?â He tries for a joke in his gravely voice thatâs seems to take your breath away. but when he didnât hear a reaction, he sighed.
âNo. Im not here to kill you. You are my wife, Iâll never bring harm to you, I swear itâ his chest aches at just the thought of you being harmed in some way, the pain increasing at the thought of him being the cause.
His deep voice seems to have more affect in the dark. Like it was the only thing wrapping around you,Causing your skin to rise and your heart to stutter at the sound of sincerity and determination in his words.
He takes a cautious step towards where you are. âI simply came here tonight to introduce myself and to see how you wereâŚsettling inâ he sees your outline shift, thankfully not away from him. But he sensed you knew he had gotten closer. From where his words left his mouth, you imagined he was quite taller than you.
âAfter three days since Iâve arrived youâve come to see me?â Your voice steady. Sylus is amused at your bravery in questioning him. he was a stranger in the middle of your bedchamber in the dark.
âI had things I needed to⌠settle. before being able to see you. I also wanted to give you a chance to settle in. Leaving your home to be married off to a complete stranger⌠I knew you must have been frightened.â
The care in his tone makes you recognize his consideration for you. further easing your pounding heart. But still you proceeded with caution. âUsually, introductions are not done in the darkâ squinting as if that would help reveal the tall stranger.
Again the tendrils of a chuckle wrap around you. âYes, usually they arntâ but his light words dip with a sigh. âhowever all of our future meetings will be like this. Iâll only come to visit you at nightâŚthat is if you want me to visitâ sylus chest constricts at the last part.
You were already in this unwanted marriage with him. Even if you didnât know it was the only way he could protect you from marrying a Fowler creature. He didnât want to push you further into something you didnât want. Although, he desperately let himself hope you would allow him to be in your presence. But if not he could be content with you being safe in the palace he created for you. watching you from afar.
âI donât understand, Why only at night?â Unease rushes through your body. Remembering the crumbly ancient voice uttering your fate. Sylus senses your emotional shift, clenching a hand against his side, restraining himself to provide a soothing touch.
After a pause, his low voice reaches you in the dark. âto keep you safe. You canât look at me, youâll- If you were to see meâŚ, our marriage, us. It will all be goneâ he dosnt want to think about that outcome. The thought sears a wound so great into it chest making him hold his breath.
âIf he wants to meet in the dark then does that mean what the oracle said is true?â The thought races through your mind. But his words have left you feeling wrapped in assurances that he means you no harm. In fact he wants to protect you.âBut that -â
âMy love, please youll have to trust meâ his voice is raised slightly but in a manner that sounds concerned and desperate. Not angry or malicious. He knows this is a big ask, you have no reason too trust him after all.
You hear him step closer. âa monster. A being the gods even fear. Thatâs who the oracle told me Iâd marryâthe words leave your mouth. Stopping his advance. Something twists in his chest, he couldnât deny it. the oracle spoke truth. He lets out a breath. âShe is quite dramatic. But I wonât deny her words.â Sylus reaches a hand out, his finger tips brushing against yours. Making you jump slightly at the sudden action. âIf you let me?â He says softly, Electricity jolting through him at the slightest touch.
You hold your breath as his fingers go over your hand, intertwining with your fingers. Fingers, palm, a hand. A human hand. Your heart picks up once more. No paws, claws or talons. His hands were large and surprisingly soft, except for the callouses on his fingertips, his grip firm.
âThe gods may fear me, yesâ you donât realize how much closer heâs gotten until his whispered voice could be heard between the two of you. âBut I am not the type of monster, you think I amâ he turns your hand, placing the back of it against his cheek. You canât help but let out a gasp at the sensation of soft skin. He brings your other hand to cup his face.
Releasing your hands in order for them to touch freely. Sylus shivers at your tentative caresses. Fingers moving along his face. His set narrow nose, eyelids, sharp angled jaw and nicely formed lips. He certainly felt human. Not at all a fury, sharp toothed, horned monster you had conjured in your mind, while pacing the floor of your room when you got back home from seeing the oracle.
Your hands trail down his neck. Your eyes widening in the dark at the feel of his firm exposed chest. The fabric himation wrap he wore, allowing parts of his chest and torso to be bare. You swear you hear him let out a shaky breath. He felt humanâŚvery human.
hands go over his broad shoulders. When they dip over to his back, that is when he sucks in a breath, his body stiffening. His hands hold your wrists bringing them back to his face.
Unknown to you, if you had gone further down his back youâd feel the softness of woven feathers making up beautiful white wings. His lips brush against your knuckles gently. âIt seems this is all i have to offer you. Vauge words and a body shouded in darkness. But know i have already given you my heart and unending love and devotion. If you accept it of courseâ.
The stranger before you had provided you a home.a palace with everything you could ever ask for. Your favorite dish brought to you by invisible servents before you finished uttering the words âIâm hungryâ. But most of all even in darkness you belived his words. Felt his sincerity. The stranger before you was your husband offering his heart.
Your hands pressed against his chest as you drew closer. Tilting your head up whispering a question âwhat is your name?â Sylus takes this as your first steps to accepting him and it almost makes him smile. If not for the guilt he felt at keeping another part of himself from you. âthatâs another thing I can not give to you, little bird.â he sighs, his knuckles caressing down your cheek. He couldnât have you knowing his identity, for your protection and the protection of his heart. âBut You may call me husband and maybe with time, belovedâ. His thumb rubs your chin.
Despite being disappointed once again at the fact that he has to keep parts of himself hidden from you. You still willing to accept it, for you felt safe and a sense of unexplainable belonging with him.
âI canât call you husbandâ you whispered as a response.
Sylus pauses his caressing, that searing ache returning. Did you decide you couldnât accept him? Would he even be able to let you go, if you did? âWhy not?â His hand cups your face. wanting to touch you a bit longer before you stepped away from him. But you didnât, you instead stepped impossibly closer.
Your heart begins to quicken but not by fear this time. âWe havenât kissed to seal our marriageâ you say then hear him let out a chuckle, the same one that seemed to wrap around you and spread through your body as dark electricity. Your sweet innocent words pulling at his heart. âIn that, you are right, my loveâ the hand that cups your cheek guides you to his mouth. the ghost of his lips against yours. âHow careless of me to overlook such a thingâ
His fingers go to your chin tilting it up. In the dark you still close your eyes, waiting for him to close the distance. The wait felt like an eternity. Only Breathes touching skin. âLetâs rectify that,so you may call me yours for eternityâ he murmurs. finally pressing his lips to yours in the most gentle manner. still giving you a chance to pull away. Instead your hands clutched at his fabric going over one shoulder, pressing your mouth more firmly to his.
Sylus lets out a shaky sigh of relief at your acceptance. Pushing forward, capturing your mouth properly against his own. Everything inside him melts at the feel of your lips. They tasted sweeter than ambrosia. He swears you are the source from which is made, the fountain of immortality he would gladly come to drink from time and time again. Another shiver goes through him when he feels your hands move against his chest once more. He deepens the kiss to keep his shaky moan from escaping. Your hands continue lowering. down to his stomach causing him to break the kiss with a groan. âAre you still not convinced?â He asks, breathless.
You smile slightly, âI may still need another inspectionâ and he canât decide to groan or chuckle at your playful words. He grabs your hands in his. Pressing a kiss to your knuckles. âTrust me my love. If you continued, I would have reacted like any man would with his wifeâ He interlaces your hands together. Straightening himself up trying to find his usual composure once more. Pushing away the oncoming thoughts of pleasure and desire from his mind. He knows tonight had been a lot for you.
âSo why donât you?â Your voice cuts through. He does chuckle as this, desire shoots through his body once more briefly. âEager, little bird?â In one swift movement he picks you up, placing you on his hip.
You let out a slight yelp at the sudden position. Arms clinging around his neck to steady yourself as he walks. you begin to stammer. Your brain rushing with thoughts unfit for a lady. âRelax,â there is a smile in his voice so close to your ear. âTonight I simply wanted to ease your mind about our marriageâŚabout me.â
He bends down and gently places you on the bed. âWe will do things at your pace. There is no rush.â hands caress your jaw once more before his hand drops away.
without hesitation you reach out in the dark. Relief finds you when your hand catches on his finger tips. âI want you toâŚatleast stayâ
He lets out a breath trying to expel the affection rising in his chest at your words. He bends down towards you, âgladlyâ
~ ~ ~
Night after night he comes to you followed by a gentle breeze that feels like itâs made by angel wings. The first couple of nights, you two spoke about everything. The night making each word more sacred. Locking them away inside your hearts.
When both of you found yourselves in bed. Slight Touches felt heightened leaving both with shaky breathing between the two. His fingers would glide against your warm skin. Your sides, arms and back with such gentle strokes. As if you were the most fragile sculpture in the world and he was afraid he would harm you. Your own hands, followed the curve of his firm muscles. Memorizing him in the dark. For No matter how much you tried, he never stayed long enough to see him in the light.
As the nights continued even sylus hoped that Apollo would not wake to move the sun. Feeling like each time he left, a piece of him stayed under the covers with you.
Gradually. The night came where words turned into uneven breathes and touches turned more assertive. You had told him you wanted more and he was not one to deny his wife. For where he was lacking he wanted to make up for it in any area he could. So he kisses you with passion. His mouth going to your jaw, moving down your neck. Placing a mark on you, he wishes he could see. But knowing you would see it on yourself in the morning made him bite you again. His thoughts becoming hazy with your sounds and scent. Kissing you further down with teasing sweet words against your skin.
He removes your nightgown, large palms roaming your body like the back of of his hand. He lets out a groan, at how responsive your body is to him. A hand takes your breast before placing his mouth on it, warm tongue swirling the right nipple before sucking.
your hands go through his hair, back arching at the sensation, pressing your chest further into his mouth. Inciting him. His other hand works on your other breast, rubbing and tugging at the nipple between his fingers. Before palming the soft flesh. Sylus drinks up every single reaction you give him. Every breath, shiver, and moan. He feels like he is going drunk on your pleasure. Switching over to give the other the same attention.
When he is satisfied with his efforts. His mouth continues his journey of reverence to you. Leaving opened mouthed kisses on your stomach and sides. Hoping his Affectionate Words sear into your skin just as the love bites he leaves on you.
When he reaches your center. Sylus is hot with desire, itâs almost primal the way he needs to taste you. He nips at your thighs, opening you up for him. And he almost loses it at not being able to see you presented to him, but smelling your intoxicating scent. He curses at his predicament but he finds solace in the fact that he is the first and only one to taste you.
âW-what are you doing near that place?â You ask hesitantly. Never being intimate with a man before you are confused as to why his face is between your most private parts.
He chuckles against your skin. âTrust me, Iâm exactly where I am supposed to be, sweetieâ he puts your legs over his shoulders, pulling you towards his face. hearing you gasp. âRelax, just focus on making those sweet noises for me, little birdâ his rubs down your thigh âif you want me to stop just tell me, okay? But Iâm sure youâll be enjoying. Every second. Of itâ with each pause sylus plants a kiss down your thigh until his mouth is right at your center.
He waits a moment to hear any objects. But when there isnât any. his tongue licks up your heat fully, making him moan into you. âYou taste sweeter than nectar, my loveâ he goes in again but his hands tighten their hold. âBetter than any banquet the gods can hold on Olympusâ his words muffled.
He curses, he had known that once he had a taste of you. How could he have anything else ever again? How could he possibly leave you when all he wants to do is be between your thighs for nights on end. His tongue lapping at you, creating patterns that has your hands grabbing and pulling at his hair, moaning into the darkness making them even sweeter and precious to him.
He wishes he could see you, how your beautiful face is when your body is filled with pleasure. Pleasure he is providing you. Sylus swirls and sucks on your clit. Pressing his face further into you. He moans against you. In this room, in this palace he had made for you in the sky. He lets himself say praises against you, Wanting to become your most loyal worshiper. Yes, within these walls hidden from those who would want nothing more than to take him away from
You. He worships you like the goddess you are.
He leaves you shuddering and spasming as you hit your climax. His mouth not stopping, in turn he grips harder. Eating you out, until the tingle of overstimulation pluses through you. You tell him wait, and with reluctance sylus leaves his meal but not without a last kiss to your clit. Making you shiver. Sylus wouldâve kept going, making you come over and over. tasting you all night. But he could hold off for now. He would take his time with you, build you up, pushing back against your limit each time.
His Lips and a hand trail up your body. His palm resting on your chest feeling it move with uneven breathes making him smile at being able to leave you in such a blissed out state. From your chest his large hand moves to cup the back of your neck, rubbing the tender spot gently before pressing a soft kiss to you.
âFrom how you sounded just now. Id say you enjoyedâ the teasing tilt in his voice makes you let out a breathy laugh as you nod. âYou can say that, yesâ
you bring his lips back to you, cutting off his gravely chuckle turning it into a throaty moan. His tongue licking your bottom lip asking for permission to enter. His hand at the nape of your neck leaves to squeeze your waist. Pulling your body flushed against him. His obvious display of need pressing against you, covered solely by a fabric wrap.
In time with his kisses your hips unconsciously move. His hand grips your waist with a broken groan. His body tightening with Desire. âCareful now,âa warning wrapped in a dark midnight voice. Only enticing you further. Your hands go across his chest learning these past nights, it is a sensitive spot for him.
He lets out an unsteady breath. âYouâre making it difficult for me to take my time with you, my ladyâ
Your Fingers Going over the ridges of his sculpted torso. âPlease, husbandâ the begging whisper has him desperately taking ahold of his restraint. The ropes threads ripping one by one along with you each inch your hand goes down his front. pushing away the fabric hiding him from you.
If sylus could see your eyes he wouldâve seen how they widened at the feel of him in your hand. You go down the length of him. hard and throbbing. He sucks in a breath not helping but to move his hips to get more friction from your hand. wanting you to feel the desire and need he has for you.
Your heart hammers in your chest as you fill with nervousness at whatâs to come. You canât see him but you can most definitely feel his size-âWill it fit?â Falls from your lips before you realize what you said. A amused light laugh rumbles in his chest. âTrust me it willâ his hand goes through your hair âIâll take care of you, donât worryâ.
He presses a kiss to your jaw and neck as he lifts himself up in order to hover above you. His body is tense with need, pulling on that rope inside of him, holding on to his control.
he positions himself at your entrance. Telling you gently that you may feel pain but to focus on him. His voice is filled with such care when he Makes you promise youâll tell him to stop if it hurts to much. When he is satisfied with your reassurance he places his mouth on yours, hoping to distract you when he pushes himself into you ever so slowly into your awaiting warmth.
Sylus lets out a groan against your mouth, eyebrows furrowing in effort to keep ahold of that taught rope of restraint. The feel of your walls around him, taking him in inch by inch, was testing his limits. You felt like everything he ever wanted and more. He doesnât understand how he has lived centuries without you. Consuming his every thought and cell. Like you had given him life but you were also his undoing.
You tell him to stop to give you a moment to get used to him. he was only halfway in. His mouth didnt leave yours as his hand finds yours in the dark, fingers gilding down your forearm until he tightens his hand on yours. Putting it beside your head, he encourages and praises you. You squeeze his large hand, asking him to continue.
The delicate way he is moving into you is so intimate and powerful. When you both finally join together. Itâs like there was burst of light, placing a new star in the sky.
He lets go of your lips his breathing ragged above you. He asks if youâre alright, and with a breathless confirmation from you. he places your arm around his neck so your bodies are as close as they can be. Every inch left untouched.
Sylus begins to slowly move his hips. His thrusts slow and mindful. Holding on tight to his restraint. Wanting to take care of you, taking higher priority than his own needs.
What would he give to see you in the light in this moment. maybe the wrath of the gods would be worth it to be able to get a glimpse at your beautiful pleasured face under him When he picks up the pace at your request. Attentive to any sounds of discomfort but all he hears is your moans in the darkness.
Maybe, just maybe if he whispers his name against your ear To hear it on your sweet lips when you cry out in ecstasy. You would still want him despite knowing what he was. He was tempted. Oh so tempted, but as the last thread of the rope to his restraint snapped he focused solely on you.
He couldnât believe he was actually here in this moment with you. Being the one to feel you, to hear you, have you all to himself. Having you Mind, body and soul fuels his desire and love for you. Making him thrust faster.
He takes you. Claims you. But he still feels like he isnât close enough to you. Slightly lifting your body as you cling onto him. He thrusts into you, Making sure his pelvis is hitting your clit with each thrust. Your nails digging in to his skin, leaving behind golden marks. He growls at the painful pleasure, wanting you to leave him marked. Because who is powerful enough to draw golden blood from a god, but you?
Body rocking with his thrusts, you feel a tight coil in your stomach, your walls clench around him. Sylus curses, hips stuttering. His breathing growing more uneven against your neck. âGive in-â he moans at his own body tightening. âYell into the night the pleasures Iâm making you feelâ his hips donât stop their pace. Hitting every deep spot inside you. He turns his lips to your ear his voice the embodiment of seduction and undiscovered pleasures. âTogether, my love. I know you can do that for meâ
trying to capture your lips in his, but failing with the movement of your bodies. He fills the space between them with your name. he feels you at the edge and follows you over it. Hitting that ecstasy he never had felt before.
He moans, needing to clench his hand on the pillow beside your head. to not crush when his climax hits him. Keeping himself all the way inside you to the hilt, his release going deep inside you. Body, mind and soul. Repeats in his head as he starts to thrust again riding each otherâs highs. He praises you and displays his reverence to you with each slowing thrust. grounding you both back to the darkened room. setting you down on the bed.
He dosnt pull away from you keeping himself where he belongs. Trying to drag out this moment by each second. Breathless sounds are heard. Whispers of assurances and loyalty filter out the opened balcony doors settling themselves on the glittering waves of dawn. Forever etched into the sky. promises made with the evidence of love that blossomed in the dark remaining for all eternity even when the sun wakes.

SACRIFICE (Hades!Jay x Persephone!fem!reader!)
So dangerous
Full of darkness like a criminal
But here you are
Full of brightness and light
âË â§ Sacrifice (Eat Me up) (Dark Blood)
WC: 3.9k
Warnings: angst and fluff, Jay being a gentleman, slightly suggestive, being tricked into kidnapping someone, Zeus being Zeus.
Through the fields of the earth wandered the goddess Demeter and her beautiful daughter y/n, their mere presence made the trees and bushes blossom with all kind of gorgeous leaves, when their feet touched the grass flowers sprung, fruits and vegetables were bornt from the earth, the mortals were happy as they could feed from the gifts the earth goddesses gave them.
However in Mount Olympus, the city of the gods and goddesses another story was being written, it was no secret that the young goddess was beautiful, with her long hair and beautiful factions, truly blessed by the gods beauty, but although she was already of age to be wed, her mother wished for her to remain virgin as Artemis and Atena, and if life hadnât occurred as it did, as herself.
Even when y/n had been just a little girl, Demeter had already talked with the goddess Aphrodite and her son, Sunghoon, so they could stay away from the love business that could interfere with her daughterâs life, but the gods of love were tired of not being able to interfere in the love-lives of the gods and goddesses, although their presence wouldnât be necessary for love had already a way of appearing in the life of the young goddess.
âLet me see if I understand, you are promising y/nâs hand to me?â asked Jay, the god of the underworld.
âBrother, you have been alone enough centuries, don´t you believe?, youâre telling me that you really donât wish for a companion?â Zeus answered, hoping for his brother to agree
Jay hesitated to answer, being one of the gods aphrodite and his son werenât allow to control itâs love life and living in the underworld, where his only companions aside from cerberus, the furies and Sysiphus, were the souls waiting to reincarnate and love again, of course he felt alone, not only was he feared by the mortals but even the gods and goddesses all just because he was the ruler of the tartarus, something he didnât even choose but was assigned to him, being in love couldnât hurt, at least thatâs what he told himself.
âIâll take your silence as an affirmationâ Zeus answered, taking Jay aback from his thoughts
âWait, does she know? or well?, is she okay with me being with her?â
âOf course she is, even Demeter believes you would be such an amazing husbandâ
Jay tried not to doubt his brotherâs words; however he knew that changing his mind would result in a far more difficult task, so he just sighed, hoping that whatever was to happen wouldnât result in something he and others would regret.
âSo, when should I meet y/n?â
âOh, sheâs in the forest almost everyday, so you should find her there, and⌠Jay, make sure to surprise herâ
He shouldâve known that Zeus had just tricked him, but he didnât know, he just went back to the underworld, to continue his monotonous excuse for a life, hoping that the next day would arrive, so he could encounter y/n.
And then the sun rose, and as promised, there was y/n in the middle of the forest with the nymphs, picking flowers and fresh-cut fruit, however in the middle of their day, an earthquake shook the earth, the nymphs were scared, yet they decided to abandon y/n searching for her mother, since the god of the underworld was powerful enough to kill them all, but even before they were gone, Jay took y/n and through the valley the earthquake had created that connected the underworld to the earth, both of them dissappeared in the glimpse of an eye.
âWhere am I?â asked y/n, hoping that the answer that was about to come off his mouth was different than the one she was thinking about.
âOf course in the underworldâ Jay answered nonchalantly, a smirk drew on his face.
âWhy did you bring me here? What do you want from me?â y/n answered, her eyes teary, shock was taking hold of her.
Jay let out a sigh, the smirk falling off his face, his nose scrunching and the already warped crown in his head crooked by a millimeter, threatening to fall from his head while he shook it nervously..
âYou didnât know, did you?â He asked, fear in his voice enveloped with a slight level of shame and regret.
âKnow what?, I donât know a thing about what's happeningâ Her voice was breaking and shaky, filled with melancholy and uncertainty.
âZeus, my brother, promised your hand in marriage, he said that Demeter, your mother, and you, knew about it alreadyâ
âWell I can assure you, we in fact didnât know a thing⌠so canât you just take me back to the surface?â
âIâm afraid I canât, I made a deal, a blind deal if you will and I canât break that, but even if I did break it, I can take things or souls of the living world to the underworld, but I canât give things from the underworld to the living world. Iâm sorry darlingâ
She nodded, âI guess that even gods have their limitationsâ she left a bittersweet giggle, her knees giving up on her, her body was fainting, she would have fallen to the floor if it weren't for a pair of arms that held her.
Jay stood beside her, his arms holding her torso and because of the lack of chairs he dropped her gently to sit on his throne, once she was sat down, he spoke, his voice was still but sweet.
âAlthough I live in the underworld, I can assure you that Iâm no monster, you can stay here for as long as you wish, Iâm sure that someone will come looking for you, youâre loved by mortals and gods, when that time ought to arrive, youâll be free to goâ
âYou promise me that?â
âI doâ
The day had almost finished, and sleep was already taking hold of y/n who wandered through the underworld, Jay, down in his throne, could notice that; but the young goddess was too stubborn or scared to ask him where she could sleep for the night, so she just rested on a rock not so far from where Jay was seating, doing the duties he as a king of the underworld had to do, receiving the new souls that arrived and seeing the records of the deceased and reincarnated⌠When he noticed the young girl asleep on a rock that seemed far from comfortable, her face flinched at some moments, yet she tried to sleep unsuccessfully.
Jay stood from his throne and walked towards the young goddess, her face was beautiful as every inch of her, of course he couldnât deny the fact she was perfect, even asleep she looked ethereal, yet⌠she didnât love him, he reminded himself. He stopped wandering in his thoughts and sat at her feet, holding her hand to try and wake her up, which took no effort, she wasn't asleep yet.
âIf you want to sleep, you can do so in my chambers, I assure you they are more comfortable besides I barely sleep after allâ He started talking, his thumb soothing the palm of her hand, while she sat to talk to him face to face.
âItâs unnecessary-â Y/n started, however Jay interrupted her before she could even finish her words âThatâs nonsense, you will sleep in my chambers that's the end of the discussionâ Jay and y/nâs eyes interlocked for a second that felt like an eternity, a smile drew in her face contrasting Jay's cold features, that only hid the warmness of his soul. âMay I?â He asked, one of his hands under the crook of her knees and the other one on her neck, y/n nodded, allowing herself to be carried again.
Y/n could see the view over her, Jay's sharp features and the crown in his head slightly crooked, she tried to fix it which led for her to play with his hair for the smallest of seconds y/n was so concentrated she missed the smile that drew on his face, of course y/n didn't know the crooked crown was intentional, yet Jay couldn't allow himself to tell her so.
âThank you darlingâ, he said quietly, she nodded.
Once they finally arrived at Jay's chambers, he dropped her carefully on the bed.
âI know that's kind of cold in here, I will search you for a blanket or for something you can cover yourself with...â he continued rambling, until Y/nâs voice interrupted him.
âJay, I don't mind the coldâ she said with a smile on her face, fear continued to dissipate from her system, maybe this wasnât so bad after all.
âWell not yet, but soon it will get colderâ
Her mouth opened agape, she didnât say a word, and allowed him to go out and find her something to cover herself.
âI hope that if you fall asleep I won't wake you up, I apologize in advance if I doâ Jay said, she nodded while laying down on the mattress.
He closed the door as she closed her eyes, and hours passed by, the underworld was indeed a cold place, with the river styx carrying souls, and the deceased wandering through the voidless place, shivers started to appear on Y/nâs sleeping body, and while Jay tried to find her something that could actually cover her and give her some rest, he kept failing, the underworld wasnât made for a goddess like her. When he finally found a blanket that would keep her warm he went back to his chambers, with a shivering-already sleeping y/n, her body was in a fetal position, yet when Jay covered her body, the shivering didnât stop, he was afraid of what could happen to her if she kept being cold, so beside his hate for using his powers he created a small fire on the hearth, to keep her warm, he repeated himself maybe he should've done that from the start.
âDonât goâŚstayâŚpleaseâ y/n voice was a mumbling incoherence yet Jay could make it out, he sat down at the end of the bed, until he decided it was his time to leave, he tried to tuck the young goddess in, when her arms opened and a hug engulfed him.
At first he tried to run from the hug, not because he disliked it but because he was sure once y/n woke up, she would regret it, feeling guilty because of grabbing her, if only he hadnât believed Zeus.
Jay stayed the whole night allowing himself to sleep just to do the goddess company, and in the night he didnât even notice how he unconsciously hugged her with the same intensity she was holding him with.
The second day arrived, this one went almost unnoticeable, Y/n was surprised by Jayâs kindness, and even if she couldnât recognize it, she felt slightly attracted towards him, however she reminded herself, he only took her to the underworld because of a deal he had made with Zeus, and because he was being tricked, he wasnât really in love.
âY/n, I asked if you wanted to see the river, I mean if you donât you can say soâ Jayâs steady words finally took her out from her trance, she nodded. âThen you can come with meâ he said.
Jay showed her the river, charon the boatman took both of them from one end to the other, and while y/n stood most of the time staring at the riverâs water it was Jayâs reflection what she was really looking at, once on the other side of the river, they walked alongside it, while the view was mainly formed of rocks and stalactites of dark colors and strange shapes, she kept looking astonished at the marvelous immensity of the underworld.
âI know itâs not as beautiful as the earthâ Jay started, staring at her through the reflection of the river.
âSuch nonsense, I believe both places have their charmâ Y/n replied,
Jay chuckled at her words, and for the first time she heard him laugh, he extended his hand for her to hold and follow him, so she wouldn't get lost, as if that could even be possible, the truth was he wanted to keep her close even if he couldnât admit it.
The second day had ended, and as the night before him, Jay took y/n to his chambers, prepared the fire and stayed there with her, this time they stayed awake longer, y/n kept talking about her life in the earth and how she longed it, Jay heard every word of her mouth as if it was hypnotizing him, âIâm sorry, I havenât allowed you to talk, I must be boring you right nowâ Y/n said, turning her head down in embarrassment, âYou could never in the whole eternity bore meâ Jay replied, taking her chin with his hand, their eyes interlocking once again, she could see him this time even more perfect as before if that were even possible, his crown perfectly over his black hair, his sharp features only looking more appealing in the dim moonlight, and all he could see was her, in her breathtaking beauty, in the darkness of the underworld and in the dim light of the fire, she was angelical. Their bodies started to draw near each other, Jayâs hand already sneaking to y/nâs cheek.
âThank you for being so kind to meâ Y/n said, drawing back herself.
âOf course darling, is the least I could do after allâ Jay answered, ăof course she wouldnât kiss meă, he thought, maybe he had mistaken her kindness for interest.
They went to sleep that night with tears in their soul, both of them kept resisting the obvious tension in between them, afraid of what would happen if they gave in.
Suddenly it was the fourth day of y/n in the underworld, she was losing hope, maybe her mother had forgot about her, and while Jay kept being sweet towards her, it continued to be difficult to her resisting his charms and beautiful words, she couldnât deny the fact she was starting to fall in love with him, if only she knew he felt the same way.
She spent most of the time wandering in Jayâs palace, which seemed as endless as his kingdom, however she felt alone, he kept ruling his kingdom hoping that his duties could distract him from the fact she was in love for the first time in centuries, however he couldnât resist no more, and decided to search for her, he needed to talk to her, to confess his feelings, maybe it was selfish of him, maybe it was wrong yet, in that moment all he could think about was y/n.
Y/n was in the outskirts of the palace, watching the river flow in silence, allowing her to put in order her thoughts, what she would do, debating about the feelings that flew through her mind, she had promised her mother to maintain herself virgin, but her mother would understand wouldnât her? she was in love, true love.
âY/n!â Jay shouted from a distance, she put herself on feet and started walking towards the palace again âY/n, please tell me you are still hereâ Jay kept mumbling to himself after being unable to find her, yet she continued to run, hearing the sound of his voice drawing her in.
Both of them had decided, they were in love, there was no cure or power for that, there wasnât an arrow or a curse or a prophecy, it was only them, it was their love.
Once they saw each other they started running until their bodies rejoined, he grabbed her waist and carried her spinning her in the air, his crown, which after y/n had straighten out was never crooked again, fell to the side of his head slightly, the dress she was wearing flew through the air.
âI need to talk to you, but please, allow me to kiss you firstâ Jay said, his voice was as tender as always.
âThe feelingâs mutualâ Y/n answered, allowing him to engulf her in the kiss, their lips collapsed in each others, their tongues ravished the others mouth, Y/n had never been kissed, yet it was far from what she though a kiss could feel like, it was pure love turned into the most carnal desire, they were drunk in each otherâs presence and whatever else just ceased to exist, her hands stood to her sides, unsure of where to move of what to do, he took them with care, guiding her hands to wrap around his neck, where they eventually found their way towards his hair, while Jayâs hands maintained firm one in her waist and the other one on her neck, their lips separated for the smallest of seconds allowing them to regain their breath, y/nâs cheeks were flushed yet she couldnât stop herself from wanting more.
âI think it would be good for us to talk before doing that againâ Jay said, his lips plump and his messy hair adorned with the crooked crown on top of it.
âOf course, we should take this somewhere else,â Y/n answered.
Both of them went to Jay's chambers, the night already falling, yet all they could think about was each other's presence.
She sat at the end of the bed, Jay decided to stay on feet in front of her, scared of the words that were about to leave his mouth.
âI think I'm in love with youâ, Jay started, âI hope that you feel the same way and I would like for you to become queen of the underworld, if you'd like of courseâŚâ Jay rambled
âYou're asking me to marry you?â She asked,
âI am, if you wish to, thereâs no need for you to accept, I won't get mad neither will my demeanor change if you say noâŚâ He started talking, his words emancipated sounding almost like gibberish, and his fingers fuming with the slightest of fires, but suddenly all the havoc in his mind and the gibberish that fell from his lips was interrupted by a small kiss.
Y/n kissed him quickly, circling his hands around his back pulling him close, then he kissed her again cheekily,
âJay, I do want to marry youâ
He smiled and kissed her again and again, until his crown was on the floor and his lips explored her whole body, until the world and underworld had been nearly forgotten.
The days passed and the day of the wedding arrived, Y/n woke up to a beautiful wedding gown on the bed, it was beautifully crafted in gray hues, she couldnât understand how such a beautiful piece could be given to her, however Jay thought that no wedding gown could be pretty enough for her, to his eyes it didnât matter how beautiful the dress were, y/n would overshadow it with her beauty, but the dress that lied on the bed was a close match.
Finally with her dress on, she went to encounter his betrothed in the throne room, where they would finally be wed. Jay was dressed in a full black wedding attire, the crown in his head and the black locks falling into place adorning the frame of his face, he looked as devilishly handsome as always.
Once they were in front of each other, although because of the small height difference y/n had to look up to meet his gaze, he took a crown as hauntingly beautiful as the one he wore, and with care he positioned it over her head.
âYou look beautiful, my queenâ He couldnât resist the urge and kissed her for the smallest of seconds, "I love you with all of my beingâ, he whispered again in the middle of their kiss.
âAnd so do I, why else would I decide to stay here if it weren't for you?â Y/n kissed him again, he smiled in the middle of the kiss and separated once again.
âI brought you somethingâ, he said, taking from his robes a pomegranate, âThe seeds of this fruit are what could make you stay here in the underworld, you wouldnât be cold anymore in the nights, and you could wander freelyâŚâ
He took a dagger and cut open the fruit, taking the seeds out and in the process staining his fingers and his attire, it didnât matter, he wanted to do it for her, he handled her the seeds which she immediately ate, she was about to eat the seventh seed when a loud rumble stormed their dream wedding day.
It was Demeter, y/n's mother, who stormed into the palace, the sight before her sending her into a frenzy, what was her daughter even thinking?
Jay took y/n behind his back, if there was someone to blame it shouldâve been him.
âMove Jay⌠I'm here to take my daughter homeâŚâ Demeter noticed his stained fingers and the fallen seeds on the floor, she looked up and saw her daughter with her lips stained from the smallest of drops of the pomegranate âNo, y/n⌠he made you eat them? what a monster, you damnedâŚâ
âMother, stop, pleaseâ, Y/n talked, Demeter couldnât finish her sentence, her daughter was now in front of her, âI ate the seeds on my own, I want to stay here, I love Jay, and I want to stay here⌠with himâ
âYou donât know what you are talking about, you need spring, and I need you, please y/n, come back homeâ Her mother's cry made her reconsider everything again, should she go? but she couldnât leave Jay, she⌠was she wrong for loving him? Jay's hand took y/n's pulling her close and taking her out of her thoughts, âDarling, I can make you a deal, so you can stay in the mortal world and in here⌠you only ate six seeds, that means your body can stay here for six months, the other six months you can spend them with your mother on the earth, and I will wait for you hereâ
Y/n agreed and although at first she disliked the idea, Demeter ended up agreeing as well, leaving with her daughter so the spring could come again.
Jay waited patiently for the months to come where he could meet his queen again, finally the day had come, and there was y/n entering the palace, their bodies reunited in a hug full of longing
âWelcome back my queenâ He would whisper before kissing her, âYou have no idea how much I've missed youâ, he kissed her again, the first of many kisses and hugs that they would share for the months she could stay in the underworld, savoring each others presence because in that moment there was no underworld or mortal world, it was only Jay and y/n, and that was the only world they cared of.

The Life of Hercules in Myth & Legend
Hercules is the Roman name for the Greek hero Herakles, the most popular figure from ancient Greek mythology. Hercules was the son of Zeus, king of the gods, and the mortal woman Alcmene. Zeus, who was always chasing one woman or another, took on the form of Alcmene's husband, Amphitryon, and visited Alcmene one night in her bed, and so Hercules was born a demi-god with incredible strength and stamina. He performed amazing feats, including wrestling death and traveling twice to the underworld, and his stories were told throughout Greece and later in Rome, yet his life was far from easy from the moment of his birth, and his relationships with others were often disastrous. This was because Hera, the wife of Zeus, knew that Hercules was her husband's illegitimate son and sought to destroy him. In fact, he was born with the name Alcaeus and later took the name Herakles, meaning "Glory of Hera", signifying that he would become famous through his difficulties with the goddess.
The demi-god, who suffered like mortals and who could make a mess of things in life just as easily as any man or woman but perform deeds no mortal could, had great appeal for the people of Greece and Rome. Hercules was a kind of super-powered everyman who suffered disappointments, had bad days - even bad years - and eventually died due to another's trickery. These stories, besides simply being entertaining, would have served an ancient audience by letting them know that, if bad things could happen to a hero like Hercules, they had nothing to complain about regarding the disappointments and tragedies in their own lives. Hercules served as a symbol of the human condition where, to use Hemingway's phrase, "a man may be destroyed, but not defeated." An interesting aspect of Hercules' character is that, because of his divine strength and abilities, he did not have to willingly submit to any of the labors or punishments imposed upon him. He chose to suffer indignities such as his famous Twelve Labors or his servitude to the queen Omphale and did so willingly. His inner strength and ability to endure hardships made him an inspirational figure to the people and a symbol of stability in the midst of chaos, even if it was a chaos he himself had caused. The historian Thomas R. Martin writes:
The only hero to whom cults were established internationally, all over the Greek world, was the strongman Herakles (Hercules). His superhuman feats in overcoming monsters and generally doing the impossible gave him an appeal as a protector in many city-states (129).
Early Life
Although he was seen as the champion of the weak and a great protector, Hercules' personal problems started literally at birth. Hera sent two witches to prevent the birth, but they were tricked by one of Alcmene's servants and sent to another room. Hera then sent serpents to kill him in his cradle, but Hercules strangled them both. In one version of the myth, Alcmene abandoned her baby in the woods in order to protect him from Hera's wrath, but he was found by the goddess Athena who brought him to Hera, claiming he was an orphan child left in the woods who needed nourishment. Hera suckled Hercules at her own breast until the infant bit her nipple, at which point she pushed him away, spilling her milk across the night sky and so forming the Milky Way. She then gave the infant back to Athena and told her to take care of the baby herself. In feeding the child from her own breast, the goddess inadvertently imbued him with further strength and power.
He was brought up at the court of his supposed-father Amphitryon, where he had the best tutors in the land who taught him wrestling, horseback riding, fencing, archery, how to drive a chariot, play the lyre, and sing. Hercules did not know his own strength, however, and killed his music teacher, Linus, by hitting him with a lyre one day during an argument. He was then sent to tend the flocks to keep him out of trouble. This seems to have been an impossibility for Hercules, however, as he heard that the Theban army had been defeated by a band of Minyans and, feeling this was unjust, he led a band of Theban warriors to defeat the Minyans and restore order to Thebes. King Creon of Thebes gave Hercules his daughter, Megara, in marriage as a sign of his gratitude.

(MY) EPIC Headcanons
I love Jorge work so much (Suffering/Puppeteer are my favorites). I also like to thank OSP for giving a brief summary of the Odyssey.
After Odysseus kills/murders the suitors he spends a month relaxing with his son and Penelope.
Odysseus tells Telemachus about his Uncle Polites/Uncle Eurylochus.
Odysseus tells Telemachus about his adventures.
Circe becomes an aunt to Telemachus and a mother figure to Odysseus (Because I said so). Even though Circe doesn't come to Ithaca she sends letters to them.
I'd d like to think Odysseus was a heavy sleeper but became a light sleeper during his adventures.
During the song 'Underworld' Polites was singing open arms, but was holding the baby from the song 'The Infant and the Horse'.
When Ody first met Penelope he LITERALLY tucked a hair behind his ear. Penelope found it cute. Telemachus gets that trait whenever he is flustered & reminds Pene of his father.
Hermes is the Grandfather to Ody. (When researching how Hermes is related to Ody it was tricky and I gave up).
Penelope is the man in the relationship (Change my mind).
Odysseus was scared as shit to go near water because of Poseiden. Took him a few years to heal from that.
Odysseus doesn't know this, but Athena thought Odysseus as a son, a companion, someone closes to her. Even after their falling out, Athena goes out of her way to protect Odysseus. Which is shocking even to the gods. Gods aren't really attacted to mortals.
During Thunder Bringer Zeus actually consider to spare Odysseus crew if Odysseus was to sleep with him (whether he wanted to or not), but Hera intervened. Hera is very protective of men who are very faithful to their partners (Ex: Ody). Plus she knows Odysseus will always stay faithful to Penelope and she loves that about him.
Helena of Troy (after being rescued) had nightmares, even with her husband she's still scared that Paris or any of the trojans coming to get her back to Paris. Menelaus really wanted to rip Paris part by part because of the pain he caused to his wife.
During his childhood, Telemachus would always sleep next to his mother, Telemachus always feared that one of the suitors would violate his mother when he wasn't there to protect her.
Hermes gave Odysseus magic weed- Athena almost beat the shit outta him for that.
(In the Odyssey) Hermes did NOT like Calypso after what she did to Odysseus. Ares had to restrain him from going after Calypso.
Odysseus learned some flirting tips from Circe that he tried to use on Penelope (It didn't work, but he did get a kiss!), Penelope tried the same and Odysseus was a flustered mess.
Athena checks up on Ithaca once n' a while, Odysseus knows this and always left a window opened for the Goddess to watch over his family and kingdom.
While Poseiden was attacking Odysseus for blinding his son, half of it was because he was claimed by Athena, but now because Odysseus wasn't claimed by Athena anymore, Poseiden could do more harm.
Odysseus is a short king (that we almost stan â¨ď¸), he was at the height of his father when he was in his early teens. Odysseus was recored as the shortest king of Ithaca, his son being only 2 inches higher than him.
Odysseus comforted his sister about Eury's death. Eurylochus was married to Odysseus younger sister, Ctimene, making Eurylochus Odysseus brother in law (Odysseus actually helped Eurylochus marry his sister, because he knew Eurylochus was the right and prefect husband for his sister.

I saw one of your posts saying that the reason Aphrodite was paired with Hephaestus is because she originates from Cyprus which produced copper and copper is associated with blacksmiths, Hephaestus' domain. However, Aphrodite had plenty other affairs, one of the most popular being with Ares. I learnt recently that in certain parts of Greece (particularly in Sparta), they worshipped her as a war deity, so does that explain her affair with Ares, god of war?
And what about Hermes and Adonis?
Hmm I do not recall which post of all you are referring my dear Anon but either way I am not sure I should say that Aphrodite is paired with Hephaestus because of copper, I should say that their relationship as husband and wife reflects on Cyprus being one of the possible birth places of Aphrodite and a rich source of copper thus their pair as husband and wife is a symbolism of that combination and of course the essence of love and creation are always there. Thus the fact that Aphrodite was the legal wife to Hephaestus according to many myths. Either way of course Cyprus being associated with copper would contribute to the co-worship of this couple but the reasons behind their union are of course more complex.
Of course Aphrodite had plenty of lovers including gods and mortals with some of the most famous mortals being Anchises (father to Aeneas) and Adonis who according to some myths had a miraculous birth through a tree like herself from the sea etc
Ares of course is her most famous or infamous lover with whom Aphrodite had plenty of children as well (and the story of her affair is rescued already from Homer's Odyssey in which the jealous husband Hephaestus traps the lovers in a bed with chains but they are let go after Poseidon speaks against the punishment of them being tied forever together. Of course the association of love and war go together (love for a person, love for your country, love for your culture and religion etc) which arguably is the primary source of war. One can say even love and lust for territories and money can contribute to that. The concept of love and violence are also signed side by side. The desire to fight for the ones you love is actually very well placed by The Anacreontea in which Eros actually binds Aphrodite and Ares in love together in fragment 28:
One day Ares came in from the battlefield brandishing a strong spear and began to make fun of Eros' weapon. Eros said âThis one is heavy : try it and you will see.â Ares took the javelin, while Cypris (Aphrodite) smiled quietly; and with a groan he said, âIt is heavy , take it back.â âKeep it,â said Eros
So basically Ares falling instantly in love with her, while holding the spear that belonged to her son Eros, by just looking at her. Their children also kinda reflect on how love and war can be possibly a deadly combination (Deimos and Phobos), violence and love can be passion (Eros) however love can also tame war and bring balance (Harmony). Also despite the fact that their bond was oftentimes mentioned as "marriage" the fact that most of the time they are named as lovers in an extramarital affair has its significance given how violence and war can often be seen as "unlawful". Of course the association of Aphrodite as a war deity either because of this union or outside this union as an individual deity plays also a great role of importance to this union.
Adonis is also associated with youth and spring and beauty. Arguably many of the domains of Aphrodite herself. Besides one of the most prominent characteristics of Adonis is his beauty and secondary his youth. He does represent the domains of Aphrodite thus the goddess of love falls in love with a man that according to Greek standards aspires love and of course according to some versions as I said Adonis was born through a tree, more specifically his mother Myrrha who transformed into a tree out of shame because Aphrodite had aspired in her heart unlawful passion for her father, which she fulfilled and got pregnant so eventually Adonis was born out of the body of his mother (the tree) and thus came to be. So Aphrodite fell in love with him for his beauty and youth the very first moment she lay eyes upon him. His death is also tragic event given how there is one version of the myth between the dispute between Aphrodite and Persephone in which Aphrodite wanted to hide Adonis from everyone else so she could have him all to herself but when she was away she put him in a box and gave him to Persephone telling her not to open that box, which of course she did and she fell in love with Adonis and so the two goddesses demanded to have their share on him and eventually Adonis was associated with coming up and down from the underworld pretty much like Persephone herself. His death is also associated with the jealousy of Ares since as we know the youth wanted to hunt despite Aphrodite's pleas to get him to stop and Adonis died hunting a boar and there is also the version in which that boar was actually Ares in disguise who wanted to kill the rival to his lover. In one way that strikes me as a symbolism on how war usually takes the lives of youths first.
Hermes is of course another god associated with youth and once more love and passion attracts youth. Hermes is also a mischievous god capable of hidden and oftentimes illegal actions. In a way that is a playful union. Of course just like Adonis, Hermes is also associated with the underworld and therefore rebirth and death. He is also a god associated with flocks and merchants and travels. Arguably being a traveler requires to love adventure and love what you do and be brave to face the unknown. Aphrodite is also associated with flocks and nature and certain animals just like Hermes is so in a way their attributes are again harmonizing. Hermes is also associated with animal husbandry so the fact that Aphrodite is associated with fertility makes sense why their union is so important. As a god of astronomy and calendar Hermes seems to associate or harmonize with Aphrodite and her parental from Uranus instead or the protection of the house which again associates with Aphrodite and her loving and protective role Hermes was also associated with alchemic rituals later. Which in one way makes me wonder if they got also inspired by the birth of Hermaphroditus, the child between Aphrodite and Hermes that bears both sexes. In one way this reminds me the alchemic "perfect being" that is no male or female and is the source of creation and somehow the love that the alchemists place in their work is part of it as a symbolism (especially since Hermaphroditus merges with a Naiad to have both male and female sides)
And so on and so forth. Technically the unions between gods and goddesses are allegorically symbolizing their connections via their attributes or the way nature works etc. I hope this interpretation helps a bit

Well Ares didn't go after Leto because she slept with Zeus...Hera sent him after Leto because according to the Homeric Hymn to Apollo she would give birth to a son more beloved to Zeus than Ares.
Like most stories we don't know if the union of Leto and Zeus was consensual or not. Hesiod actually lists Leto as the wife of Zeus before Hera and idea which is seemingly older than the myth of Leto's trials perhaps. Heras relationship with Zeus actually seems to be something that was kept secret before their marriage according to some writers, while he was with Leto (an example whete they were almost caught sleeping together by Heras nurse who was trucked to believing that Zeus was sleeping with Leto instead.)
In "The Hera of Zeus" they delve further into Hera's wrath foe this particular situation, where she's angry that Leto is given certain titles and rights that Hera believes should only be hers because she is the queen. Similar to how Aphrodite was angry towards Psyche because mortals gave her titles and honors that should've gone to her as a goddess of beauty.
Leto as a conniving bitch frankly isn't attested so boldly in classical texts or cult. She is given the title of the gentlest and most mild on Olympus, she who answers every prayer.
The myth where Ares hunts down a pregnant woman isn't because he wants justice for his mum. It's because Hera wants to make sure that Ares' role as a legitimate son of Zeus is secure (Apollo is the first son of Zeus born from a goddess who is not Hera)
Whatever Ares did it for, I support him, because if he is already born to be punishing Leto, then Leto is the sidechick and deserves it for willingly sleeping with a married man.
Also, let's remember Ares didn't punish any of Zeus's other baby mamas (most of who were victims), he's not the shitty person you want him to be.
As for Leto not being a bitch...
She rubs her affair with Zeus in Hera's face and insults Hera for giving birth to a disabled son.
That's not bitchy behavior to you?
Not to mention Zeus is also the same man who tried to rape her little sister Asteria. Sleeping with him after he did that makes Leto even scummier than she already is for sleeping with another womanâs husband.

How would you describe Hera's relationship with the other queens (Persephone and Amphitrite)?
I know of a single source in which Hera interacts with Persephone, namely Book 31 of the Dionysiaca where she manipulates her into sending the Erinyes against Dionysos. It's a hilarious speech where Hera talks shit about the Underworld, reminds Persephone of her rape by her father and also of her murdered son whose death Hera herself instigated, though naturally she keeps silent about that detail and puts all the blame on Zeus:
"Away she [Hera] went to the gloomy all-welcoming court of Hades; there she found Persephone, and told her a crafty tale: "" Most happy I call you, that you dwell so far from the gods! You have not seen Semele at home in Olympos. I fear I may yet see Dionysos, one born of a mortal womb, master of the lightning after Zagreus, or lifting the thunderbolt in earthborn hands. Cornbringer, you have been robbed! Beside the Nile with his harvests they hold festival for another, instead of your sheafbearing mother Demeter; they tell of a spurious bountiful Deo, bullbred, horned, Inachos's daughter Io. And Ares, the one I brought forth, born of a heavenly womb, my own son, was shackled tight inglorious in earthly fettersin a jar, where Ephialtes had hidden him. Nor did heavenly Zeus my husband help him â but he rescued Semele's son from the flaming fire, he saved Bacchos from the thunderbolt, while still a baby brat, his bastard son half-finished! Zagreus the heavenly Dionysos he would not defend, when he was cut up with knives!""What made me angrier still, was that Cronides gave the starry heaven to Semele for a bridegift, â and Tartaros to Persephoneia! Heaven is reserved for Apollo, Hermes lives in heaven â and you have this abode full of gloom! What good was it that he put on the deceiving shape of a serpent, and ravished the girdle of your inviolate maidenhead, if after the bed he was to destroy your babe? Lord Zeus holds the starry hall on Olympos; he has given the briny sea to his brother the water king for his prerogative; he has given the cloudy house of darkness to your consort. Come now, arm your Furies against wineface Bacchos, that I may not see a bastard and a mortal king of Olympos. Pity the wife of Zeus who prays to you, pity Deo, pity praying Themis the immaculate, that the Indians may have a little space to breathe while Dionysos is shaken. Be the avenger of my sorrow, because Cronion has given nectar to Bacchos and the blood of battle to Ares! Let not Athens sing hymns to a new Dionysos, let him not have equal honour with Eleusinian Dionysos, let him not take over the rites of Iacchos who was there before him, let not his vintage dishonour Demeter's basket!"" The whole mind of Persephoneia was perturbed while she spoke, babbling deceit as the false tears bedewed her cheeks. Goddess bowed assent to goddess, and gave her Megaira to go with her, that with her evil eye she might fulfil the desire of Hera's jealous heart."
Even funnier, in Book 44 we have this passage: "But while Bacchos yet conversed with circling Mene, even then Persephone was arming her Furies for the pleasure of Dionysos Zagreus, and in wrath helping Dionysos his later born brother."
Persephone seems quite indecisive doesn't she? Anyways, in other sources (Vergil's Aeneid, Ovid's Metamorphoses) where Hera/Juno needs the Erinyes to do something for her she simply talks to them herself without making appeal to either Persephone or Hades.
As for Amphitrite, it doesn't look like Hera has any sort of connection with her. When she has need of the assistance of the Nereides, like in the Argonautica of Apollonios Rhodios, she talks to Thetis. I guess they could have a professional relationship but I disagree with the idea (which I used to encounter pretty often) that they would be particularly close and bond over their shared experience of being married to unfaithful husbands, especially when considering that in Homeric Hymn 3 to Apollo Amphitrite is one of the goddesses who support Leto and convince Eileithyia to allow the birth of Apollo against Hera's wishes.
