Like flipping over an embroidered tapestry!#Some people thinks it ruins the illusion of what a story is - to me it *elevates* the experience to see the seams.#It's like knowing how they did the practical effects and stunts in a movie. i feel like im not making any sense but does anyone else feel like there are stories that let u run with them and ones that spell everything out for you

#im reading that post that says artists are directors of audience reaction and not its dictator:#'you cannot guarantee that everyone viewing your work will react as you are trying t make them react. a good artist knows that this is what #allows work to breath. by definition you cannot have art where the viewer brings nothing to the table ... this is why you have to let go of #the urge to plainly state in text exactly how you think the work should be interpreted ... its better to be misinterpreted sometimes than #to talk down to your audience. you wont even gain any control that way; people will still develop their opinions no matter what you do #im thinking abt this again cuz i was thinking maybe the thing that lets adventure time work so well the way it does is cuz it doesnt #take itself too seriously that it gives the audience enough room to fuck with subtext and then fuck with them back yknow. i think it was #mentioned somewhere that they werent even planning to run with the postapocalyptic elements that are hinted in the show but changed their #mind after the one off with the frozen businessmen and dominoed into marcy and simons backstory. on the other side there are stories that #explain too much to let the story speak for itself and i think it ends up having to do more with the crew trying to lead ppl in a certain #direction than expand on what they have and i see a lot of this with miraculous. like when interviews and tweets are used as word of god in #arguments and it becomes a little stifling to play around with it knowing the creator can just interject. u can say its the crews effort to #engage with its audience but it feels more like micromanaging. and none of this is to say there ISNT room for stories that spell things out #theyre just suited for different things. if sesame street tried abstract approaches to themes and nuance itd be counterproductive #a lot of things fly over my head so i need help picking things apart to get it- but it doesnt have to be from the story itself. ive picked #picked up or built on my own interpretations listening to other ppl share their thoughts which creates conversation around the same thing #sometimes stories will spell things out for you without being so obvious abt it that it feels like its woven into the text. my fav example #for this might be ATLA using younger characters as its main cast but instead of feeling like its dumbed down for kids to understand why war #is bad its framed from a childs point of view so younger audiences can pick up on it by relating to the characters. maybe an 8 year old #wont get how geopolitics works but at least they get 'hey the world is a little more complicated than everyone vs. fire nation'. same for #steven universe bc its like theyre trying to describe and put feelings into words that kids might not have so they have smth to start with #especially with the metaphors around relationships bc even if it looks unfamiliar as a kid now maybe the hope is for it to be smth you can #look back to. thats why it feels like these shows grew up with me.. instead of saving difficult topics for 'when im ready for it'#as if its preparing me for high school it gave me smth to turn in my hands and revisit again and again as i grow. stories that never #treated u as dumb all along. just someone who could learn and come back to it as many times as u need to. i loved SU for the longest time #but i felt guilty for enjoying it hearing the way ppl bash it. bc i was a kid and thought other ppl understood it better than me and made #feel bad for leaning into the message of paying forward kindness and not questioning why steven didnt punish the diamonds or hold them #accountable. but im rewatching it now and going oh. i still love this show and what it was trying to teach me #yapping #diary

I hate the stretch lines in the front of Curly's uniform because that means the devs rushed to make a model in like a month or so and thought "They gotta at least know he has huge knockers, gotta know he's got back pain." Cause like what is the thematic importance of his tits having overhang?

What responsibility is that representing? Breast reduction? It shows an inherent greed in his character due to the excess and heshouldletmeholdone and that he clearly is blinded cause if he tries to look down his damn ladder all he's seeing is his own cleavage.

theres just so many interesting things you could do if you staged chimes of midnight tbh....

#two actors for edith (older and younger) and having the older sing behind other dialogue #separate actor for edward grove so when he possesses shaughnessy the two actors speak at the same time #to be honest you could have two actors for just about everyone except maybe the doctor #and probably not shaugnessy since he doesnt die. but whenever the others die have understudies either play the corpse or stand around in the #background outside the lights. so theyre just visible but clearly shelved #as the mystery gradually becomes clear slowly have the older edith shadowing the staff as they say things that were said to her #the screams when the older edith is explaining - just have younger edith and mary and mrs baddeley and whoever else offstage and scream with #with their mics off - then you get a surround sound effect too - esp if you have them offstage behind or to the side of the audience #YOU COULD HAVE A DOLLHOUSE IN THE PARLOR WHEN THE DOCTOR'S CALLED UPSTAIRS TOO #itd be even more effective if you showed it at the beginning #maybe as the audience is filtering in you just have the lights up on that set so they SEE it yk?#then once everyones seated have the lights go off suddenly (maybe even play the theme song)#idk how youd do the jam jar im not a theater person. maybe red fabric for the jam that can 'spill' all over charley in a concerning looking #way (that can look like how edith looks when she kills herself) but that doesnt necessitate a costume change or any sort of cleanup for the #stage itself. Got 3 more tattoos the other day, I'll post them when they've had touchups and have healed again but this time I got the paw print of my doggie that died recently, some soot sprites and the blue spirit mask and white lotus tile

#my arm was bleeding like mad?? both me and my tattoo artist were confused because all other tattoos were fine #but that does mean she couldn't see which parts she'd properly shaded anymore so touchups will happen #anyways now Ive got my own big 3 fandoms on me #atla merlin and loki being the things that have kept me alive for over a decade #soot sprites is more recent but still very fitting (thinking of the ghibli theme where you always leave something behind and cant go back)#now Ive got one more planned with the flowers we reveived when my dad died and I want to add pikmin to that because both me and my dad #played that (my brother too)#but drawing those flowers is still to hard so it'll have to wait #I also kinda want a yugioh tattoo and a moth and maybe some more original art #(and an arcane tattoo but forcing myself to wait a year before I put new fandoms on my body)

the first style boutique/savvy game really didnt do anything to get as much love as it does

#when it first came out i kinda get the love. like new game thats a fun boutique simulator! thats cool and fresh! and beyonces in the advert!#but i feel like its been getting the most appreciation over the past year? mainly with tiktok #like the other 3 games are right there. theres massive red arrows pointing to them and everything #i know ive made a post already talking shit about the first game but like what else can i say. its not the best game #(IN COMPARISON TO THE 3DS GAMES !! DONT TWIST MY WORDS IM NOT SAYING THE FIRST GAME IS ASS)#it wasnt my first game in the series (that was nsb) but i still had and played it as a kid #so i do understand why people are nostalgic for it #but WHY are we so obsessed with this game suddenly??! can we please give this much love to alina 'alinatron' golding??#its not like people dont love 3ds games #i know people are kinda giving ds a revival from nostalgia but the sames happening for 3ds #so im just very confused on why only the first game is 'blowing up'. i blame the apartment theme #ik the others get love too btw. but i hear that apartment theme in every cutesy tiktok ever and they all have a style savvy ds rom #style boutique #style savvy #pierrot complaining again
