1. What or who inspired your Durges design the most? A particular idea or vibe or perhaps another hottie or baddie?

Lucy (Elfen Lied) + GladOS (Portal) + Jennifer's Body + Jen Yu (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon) + Kristin Spitz (Horseman 2009) and Alessa/Heather (Silent Hill)

Her vibe is Did We Just Have Tea With Cthulhu.

She grew into a massive collection of tropes that I wanted to blend and toy with from a story perspective: I started by combining Daddy's Little Villain and Enfant Terrible with Stockholm Syndrome. She begins a lonely Reluctant Monster who is Intrigued by Humanity. She envisions herself as a Terror Hero and Noble Demon to cope with her Warring Natures. Desperate to earn her father's love, she's a Sympathetic Sentient Weapon undergoing a painful transition into a Knight Templar and Apocalypse Maiden. When our Determinator and Dark Magical Girl isn't preoccupied being a One Man Army, she enriches herself as The Collector, obsessively researching her interests, Desperate for a Purpose. She's a Conspiracy Theorist who is Properly Paranoid about Jergal, the former Lord of The End of Everything, and often Right for the Wrong Reasons.

She becomes The Fatalist plagued by a Cosmic Horror Story who knows There Are No Coincidences. She is Above Good and Evil and makes this everyone's problem, particularly her own. She employs Straw Nihilism and Armor-Piercing Questions against victims to Break Them by Talking because therapy doesn't exist in the Cult of Bhaal, at least until she's at the helm - then enter the Psycho Psychologist. Despite this, she is frequently tempted by The Ingenue, a good-aligned behavioral equivalent to the Urge. She is a Stepford Smiler serving as a Love Martyr to Bhaal, Orin, and later Gortash.

Romantically, she suffers from Stalking is Love and Sex Is Evil and I Am Horny, further strained by In Love with the Mark and Forbidden Romance. She and Gortash are Agents Dating with a shared Power Dynamics Kink and Love Ruins the Realm (or saves it, apparently). After waking up on the beach with Amnesiac Dissonance, she becomes a Heroic Comedic Sociopath and Unstable Horror Ally who learns She Is Not a Gun and emerges the Anti-Anti-Christ.

6. Personality or looks, what came to you easier?

...I have not played the game since Patch 4 and honestly have no idea what she looks like until I sort out all the new mods available in September.

I'll probably style her after Zhang Ziyi (who played Jen Yu and Kristin Spitz) or Amelia Tyler (the narrator of bg3).

Bhaal was Netherese, who were described as having dark hair and pale skin, so it works.

born in england, grace is the youngest daughter of the zhang family, three years younger than her elder sister.

though it is very apparent she is the favored child, grace has little idea why — her interests lie in books, writing, spying on conversations she has been told she is too young to be apart of. her sister's tastes are more refined, more suited for a lady, and grace simply took too long to outgrow playing in the garden. though she would be considered accomplished at her age, it was not for lack of trying to avoid the term, either.

her sister amelia is her best friend — they are thick as thieves, and she is her sister's staunchest defender and devout advocate. though she does not understand why their parents treat them so differently, she has decided to make up for it by giving her their love tenfold. a word against her sister is a surefire way to turn her heart against even the closest of friends.

the only downside to having such a loving sister is she does not wish to be married so soon, or even at all. grace craves a deep foundation for any partnership she may enter, based on mutual respect, and therein lies the trouble — there are few people she respects that are considered suitable options for a lady.

rather than take the season seriously, grace has opted instead to be a most egregious flirt and do research for the various, probably inappropriate stories she writes. she is rarely seen without her pocket diary.

BACKGROUND ;

shortly after their marriage, angela and andrew did a tour abroad, spending time traveling and visiting family. their marriage was new and mostly arranged, and andrew was very busy sorting out his affairs and had little time for the affection that angela desired in early marriage.

while andrew was away on business, she had an affair with a servant. when they discovered she was pregnant, andrew decided to stay by her side and help her raise the child – as long as she cut the other man off and never told him about it. they returned to england, able to hide the truth about her pregnancy.

amelia realizes that things are different for her as she starts noticing how her parents treat her sister. it feels like they are warmer with grace, more invested in her smallest accomplishments. in public, it’s hard to notice, so subtle a difference – but at home, amelia can feel the weight of it. she doesn’t know she reminds her mother of a moment of weakness, has no idea she reminds her father of her mother’s capability of deception. she just knows something is wrong.

when they walk downtown and visit the modiste, amelia is enamored with the gowns, with the color, and takes a special interest in fashion and style. she’s always suggesting ideas to her family’s dressmakers, and she pays great attention to things like furniture and decor. essentially, amelia is drawn to shiny, expensive things, and has good taste.

grace is more rebellious than she is, and it seems like her sister can always get away with more. most would probably chalk this up to amelia’s role as the eldest daughter, having to set an example. amelia would never come home with her skirts dirty, but grace never seems to care. but despite the differences between the two girls, grace is the only person in her household that doesn’t seem to regard her with any difference. amelia feels safe with her, but also feels protective of her. there are late nights together, giggling conversations between bedsheets. grace is her best friend.

there’s only one thing she’s never told her sister, and it’s the reason why her mother only seems to tell her that she loves her in secret, shows her more affection when her father is out of the room – and it’s that she’s not andrew’s legitimate daughter. her parents don’t reveal this to her until her first season, when she’s beginning to speak to suitors. after all, they have to tell her that her dowry won’t be the amount she expects, and that her father is planning to leave most of the money set aside to grace to secure her the best possible future. no matter how sympathetic angela is toward her daughter and apologetic she is for her mistake, she doesn’t control the accounts.

amelia feels a certain burden with this information, not wanting grace to find out until she is engaged herself and claimed her inheritance. she doesn’t want the scandal to come out and affect grace’s prospects either. this would be less of a burden if grace were at all interested in marriage, but she seems not to bother with it. amelia sees marriage as more of a transaction and a way to secure status than her sister does.

amelia fits in better than even she knows. she’s learned how to sit up tall, act confident, smile pretty. she knows what’s in fashion, she knows how to throw a party. she knows how to talk and walk and dress. she knows how to fit in, and feels extra pressure to prove she belongs here.

has turned down a few interested suitors, wanting to marry after her sister does. this has earned her a reputation as being a snob, or someone who thinks she’s worth more than her station. to some, she is a bit of a mystery and a challenge, and people wonder why she’s so picky and so secretive. she would do pretty much anything to keep people from finding out the truth, but it feels like a ticking clock.

PERSONALITY ;

passionate – amelia feels her emotions strongly, and she cares a lot, especially about the people that she considers dear to her. she’s a loyal friend (though sometimes can be known to try and act in others self-interest without consulting them…) and incredibly caring. she really backs herself and holds on to her beliefs strongly.

stylish – tbh, amelia just has good taste. she knows what’s on trend and adheres to it, and she always looks snatched. there’s definitely a care and attention to detail with the way she dresses, and she knows how to brighten a room, too. she’s trendy and clean and looks good doin it !

sagacious – catch me googling synonyms to things. but yeah, basically she’s very observant and clever. she has a good judgment of people and character and is often paying attention.

proud – amelia’s pride basically runs her life. she’s very conscious of her own dignity and social status, and honestly, rumors aside, she has a pretty good reputation and is fairly desirable ( me, plotting her downfall…have to put her on a pedestal first ) to court, and she cares a lot about this status that she has.

nitpicking – it’s funny because she can be blunt and judgmental about her opinions of people when she’s got shit she’s hiding herself, but yeah, she likes to judge. however, she holds herself to a pretty high standard as well and is very much a perfectionist. but she judges other people too :)

self-conscious – she cares a lot about what people think of her and how they perceive her. sometimes, she can value this above more important things, and puts a lot of effort into reputation and ‘fitting in.’ she might say this is because she doesn’t have the luxury of belonging, but truthfully she can just be selfish about wanting to be liked.  

WANTED CONNECTIONS ;

HER BESTIE – basically the pen to her eloise or vice versa? amelia’s closest friend in life, probably someone around the same age. and they have interests in common, like fashion and literature. it’s a really intimate and close friendship, and one of the things that keeps amelia feeling fulfilled without marriage.

EX-SUITOR (THE FIRST)  – someone who she would have had a courtship with a few years ago before amelia knew about her dowry. likely she would have gotten close to this person and maybe engagement was a possibility – but when she found out the truth, she blew them off/turned them down.

EX-SUITOR (BITTER BITCH) – other people that maybe tried to court her since. maybe they saw her as a conquest and when they couldn’t get her attention, they started rumors about her? now they h8 each other or some shit.  

PROJECT – someone young and new to society that amelia is kind of taking under her wing and living vicariously through because she can’t take the season seriously. so, she’s obsessed w helping this muse. cue the makeover montage and such.

SECRET CRUSH –  while it’s not illegal to be with a woman, in good society you must want children. amelia likely keeps her interest in girls secret, and has definitely never really explored those feelings. would be cute for her to have a crush on a girl that she doesn’t know how to act around??? maybe she’s weird and mean about it. maybe they think amelia hates them. ikkkk it’s hard to request a plot where the other person has a crush but if this sounds like fun to you then don’t be shy let me be so gay

SECRET COURTSHIP? – maybe not a real courtship, but a flirtation that amelia feels safe in because they’re above her station (sry she would never speak to a commoner as a #snob so this has to go Up) and would never be interested. so, maybe they have to keep her a secret and she’s totally fine w that. she just craves intimacy and would be more comfortable if neither of them were leading each other on but it would have to be private.

SOMEONE WHO KNOWS HER SECRET – someone maybe found out by accident what amelia is hiding and they are like hey…what the fuck. we can plot this more in depth like what they want from her or what their motives are, maybe they are connected or know her real dad?! maybe he wants to reach out through your character and amelia is like fuck off!!!!!!!

MATCHMAKING EFFORT – amelia realllyyyyy wants her sister to get married. she thinks your character could be a good match for grace and is constantly trying to set the two of them up, whether they actually like each other or not lol.

ENEMY – someone she does not get along with!!! at all!!! maybe amelia talked shit about something having to do with your muse, because she’s shady and concerned with status. or MAYBE your muse told amelia something that wound up in lady whistledown and your muse blames amelia for how it came out. that would be really spicy.

in that same vein, we could do ex friends ^^^ in that sense. like they used to be close then something your muse told amelia in confidence got leaked or whatever. yikes.

FRENEMY – someone she gets along with for status, like their families have good standing and history together or their parents work together, so she gets along with them because she like /has/ to but secretly our chars just fuckin hate each other and don’t vibe at all.

BAD INFLUENCE? – someone who is a bit more wild and intent on getting amelia out of her uppity shell, trying to convince her to be more open-minded about things and about life. so ‘bad/good’ influence.

FUTURE SUITOR?? – i’m not there yet, but i feel like it could get to a point where…she wouldn’t be above securing her station in nefarious ways, especially if her secret has the potential to be exposed or more people know about it. like maybe blackmailing or setting up a scenario that would pressure someone into having to propose to her? like kissing them or something and therefore putting societal pressure on them. i want to develop her before she’s that desperate to try and force her own engagement/pressure someone into being with her, but if this is something u might be interested in down the line we can lay the seeds for it…heheh. we can also back out of it if it doesnt work so no pressure on this either.
