A nun devoted to eliminating witches and keeping people safe. She enjoys listening to the stories of those she meets and is especially proficient in needlework.

BACKSTORY

Walpurga was an ordinary nun, helping her community to grow and creating Opus Anglicanum to sell. She was happy with her life, until residents of her community began to disappear. She began to worry and soon followed some of the residents into a witches barrier, where she was almost killed until she was saved by another magical girl.

She met Kyubey and mulling over the fact the witch took the lives of many people, wished to be proficient in taking them down to avoid another incident like the one that transpired. He accompanied her, making sure to encourage her to keep hunting witches.

She travelled with her family to Francia, Walpurga keeping on top with her witch hunting skills and aiding local magical girls in their duties. She was dutifully taking down witches until she saw one of the magical girls she aided become a witch before her very eyes.

After that, she couldn’t bring herself to hunt any witches. All she could think about were the girls they once were, now trapped in that form and cursed to spread their despair. She saw herself as a fool, with Kyubey penning her story without her consent or knowledge. She was helpless in her situation, unable to escape their fate.

She became a witch able to accumulate and fuse with other witches, laughing at her stupidity and sobbing at her her own helplessness. She would continue in this form, until a certain girl made a wish and gave her peace at last.

Doppel Description

“I suppose I was a fool after all…”

The doppel of helplessness. It takes the form of a stage-construction. The fool spinning in circles. A combination of both maniacal laughter and soul-crushing despair, this doppel can destroy any and all towns in it’s path. The master of this emotion is unable to halt the tornado of magic her doppel is, and can only watch as her doppel rips apart everything she holds dear. She can accumulate more magic by consuming witches and soul gems. If she consumes enough, she can flood a city with curses and indoctrinate everyone caught in her magic into a never ending stage play. A powerfully pitiful being.

french (creole) in the 1700s, has a crazy Ultra-Catholic brother that he builds a cathedral for on his property out of love, in which he gets turned i to a vampire after setting the place on fire in a drunken stupor because he was sooo damp lestat (insane vampire, also catholic but also not, it's complictaed) just couldn't resist, fire motif continues (he burns a lot of places to the ground, fire kills vampires, etc); denies himself human blood not because killing is wrong but because drinking human blood is a pleasurable experience (drinking blood is also how vampires have sex, so take this how you will), finds himself baby trapped in a toxic patriarchal nuclear family setting with lestat (not exclusive to catholics ofc but, come on) louis would not identify as catholic/religious but literally everything he does comes down to his immense catholic guilt complex and he believed genuinely for a very long time that he was going to hell for existing as a vampire (it's a metaphor)

episode 1 he has a whole breakdown in a confession booth about pimping, drinking, gay sex, etc. then his priest gets immediately murdered by a vampire and he then agrees to be turned by that vampire and to marry him (in his defense lestat is VERY dreamy) and keeps doing the same shit and worse but feeling extreme guilt about everything constantly. he keeps this up for 144 years and counting

He battles with faith so hard dude he spends like half his book being Catholically Guilty for his vampirism. It slaps

she literally watches everyone she knows die over and over and over again just so she can save madoka, the one girl who showed kindness towards her. when madoka ends up basically becoming god in order to stop the cycle of death and violence, homura RIPS AWAY THE HUMAN PART OF HER SOUL so that she can create a world where she and Madoka and their friends can live happily, effectively becoming the devil to madoka's god

She has so much religious symbolism when it comes to her relationship to Madoka. Madoka is God and Homura becomes Lucifer so that she can save Madoka and give her happiness. She literally rips God from heaven and rewrites reality though. The way she sees her self and shapes reality is through the lense of Catholicism.

Okay homuras entire fuckin arc is stemmed from the fact she is Catholic. Look at her trying to save Madoka over and over again and suffering for it because she thinks if she suffers enough and works hard enough Madoka will stay. Normal people do not go into time loops willingly. Catholics will.

A young lady who leads a tribe of people in a paradise filled with abundance. Determined and quick-witted, she believes that any problem and issue can be solved through diplomacy.

BACKSTORY

Exiled from their homes, Phoebe’s people were forced to wander an endless desert, with no food or water. She saw several of her people die from dehydration or starvation, and they weren’t able to perform their final rites due to their weakness and the bodies just were buried beneath the sand.

As she listened to the quiet groans of pain from her people, Kyubey approached her. She wished for a place where her family could thrive, unfettered by starvation or thirst. The next day, the tribe found fertile land, filled with fruit, fresh water, and livestock. They slowly regained their health and elected Phoebe as the leader.

She tried her very best and managed to build a small village, a plantation of crops, and some livestock farms. She and her people were happy. They all shared their resources, and talked around the bonfire, sharing secrets, stories, and conversations. This peace did not last forever, and soon another group of people arrived. They wanted the land for in the name of their emperor and began to take things by force,

Phoebe tried to reason with them, solve their issues through negotiation, but soon an all out struggle broke out. Her days around the bonfire turned into nights around the round table, planning their next move. She watched as people from both sides died horribly. Children were killed, and bodies were burnt.

At the end of it all, she just stood there in the quiet place where the town once stood. Both sides lost horribly and almost no signs of their existence was left. She had the rest of the villagers flee somewhere else while she performed the final rites for all those who were lost in the fight. She began to wish they peacefully died of starvation or thirst instead of violently taking the lives of their fellow humans.

She became a witch mourning all those lost under her rule and who were forced to fight.

Doppel Description

The doppel of revelation. It takes the form of symbols. The master of this emotion wished for the prosperity and happiness for her beloved family, which is reflected in her doppel, searching for prosperity for itself. It holds the ability to replicate itself endlessly, and spread it’s castle like body to every corner of the world. All it’s duplicates hold no sense of self or consciousness what so ever, and simply bring offerings to the main body. Her golden body holds the master within, as she dreams of an ideal paradise.

The New Gabe Order Will Celebrate KQED Plus' (KQEH's) 60th Anniversary With A Spotlight Show Of The Science Fiction Night!

Salutations, anime fans. I am Gabriel Ramos, DJ and broadcaster of Toon Time Theater. October 19 will be a special day, because KQED Plus (KQEH) will turn 60 this year, and I wanted to showcase the programs of the Science Fiction Night that aired between 1996 and 2003. When I was born in Hayward, California, I had access to the network back when they were known as KTEH. However, I didn't know they aired science fiction anime on Sunday nights until I read about how Tenchi Universe aired on American TV networks for the first time. My brother got into Neon Genesis Evangelion because of KTEH, and since then, he watched the series from time to time.

On October 19 at 9 PM PDT, join me for a 7-series Spotlight Show showcasing select animated programs that aired on the KQED Plus Science Fiction Night back in the day.
