Witchy Tools: Eggshells
Used For
Eggshells are very well known for being ingredients for protection across a variety of magical traditions. While they have other uses too, that is by far the most prominent use. The crushed eggshells are used to make protection lines/barriers, or as ingredients in spells - something especially helpful in workings where using salt could poison the soil. It can also be used to draw sigils or other symbols - especially if you make it into eggshell-chalk.
Materials
Eggshells
Water (optional)
Flour (optional)
Coloring (optional)
Process
If using eggshells as they are, you can either use whole eggshells or grind them up into smaller pieces or a powder, depending on what you are wanting to use it for. For example, whole eggshells can work as spell containers, pieces can be used in spell ingredients, and powder can form protective lines - though there are many other uses as well.
If making the eggshells into chalk for more directed linework with the eggshells, you can grind the eggshells into a powder. Then you’ll add that to a paste made from water and flour until it’s thick enough to form into the shape of a piece of chalk. If you want to add color magic into it as well, you can add colors to it as well in this stage. After letting it dry for several days, it should be ready to use.
Why it Works/History
Most of why eggshells work as a magical tool has to do with them being a literal protection for new life. By either harnessing (or in some cases, destroying) that protection for yourself, you can take on the magical properties of that protection. They can also provide nutrients for the garden, helping gardens protected with them to thrive.
Historically, there are references to eggshells believed to allow witches to fly, and some believe it can draw in the fae. Between the two, in older times it became a habit to break any eggshells ready for disposal to prevent both from happening. However, there isn’t much recorded regarding the specifics of their use in European witchcraft. In the closed traditions of Santeria, Hoodoo, and a few others eggshell powder had similar uses too, though the powder was often mixed with other ingredients and used in ways traditional to the practices.

Listen. There's nothing wrong with buying your tools. There's nothing wrong with not using tools. I personally think we should all learn how to work magic without tools first.
But. There is something to be said about witches who make their own tools with nothing but sheer audacity as credentials. Never used power tools before? No problem! That wood burner dangerously close to your skin? You'll be fine. The prefect stick buried in brambles? That's what band-aids are for! Want to hand make a book of shadows? Now you're a book binder! You'll figure it out.

All I’m saying is certain pots/pans are sacred. I know bc if I try and make something I’ve made a hundred times in a different vessel it doesn’t turn out right.

Maybe you have seen bottles of Florida Water in mystical shops or included in rituals of some kind. But, did you know that Florida Water was originally formulated as a remedy for skincare as well as a perfume? The commercially available version of Florida Water is heavily scented and good for spiritual practices but, I wouldn't want to use it on my skin. Instead I have been making my own Florida Water for a few years now and wanted to share the super simple recipe with you!

glamour magick you can practice every day ᥫ᭡
you can use glamour magick for everything, not just beauty and love and that's why it's my favorite kind of magick
daily showers:
washing your body, your face or your hair can be such a powerful practice. enchant your soap, body wash, face wash and shampoo and use them to remove all the negative energy, any bad thoughts, insecurities, bad memories, health problems and just anything you want to get rid of. i do that by holding the tool (e.g. a bar of soap) in both of my hands and i just focus on my intention for a while. something like "this soap will wash off any negative energy that clings to me" or "this shampoo will get rid of any negative thoughts i have"
face, body and hair care:
just like you can enchant your beauty products that wash your body to remove any bad energy, you can enchant any products you're going to leave on your body to bring positive things into your life. i use my conditioner to give me confidence, i use my magical toner for beauty, love and attraction, i use body lotion and moisturizer for protection and hair oils for abundance.
mirror magick:
something as simple as looking at yourself in the mirror, repeating positive affirmations, spells and visualizing yourself as the best version of yourself can absolutely change your life. i love how confident and beautiful it makes me feel.
enchanted jewelry and perfume:
just like any beauty and skincare products, you can enchant your jewelry or your perfume and wear it. love, good luck, protection, attraction, confidence, anything you need and want!
color magick:
color magick can be a part of glamour magick too! just pick the right color behind your intention and add it to your outfit or makeup or paint your nails with that color.
hair:
i already mentioned how washing and conditioning your hair but brushing it can also be a great ritual! brush it gently and repeat your spells and affirmations. your hair easily absorbs energy, it's like a sponge. so if you give it as much love and care and positivity as possible, there will be no space left for any negativity.
those are some of my favorite, very simple glamour rituals and they all have changed my life
take care my loves! ᥫ᭡

Witchy Tools: Wands
Used For
Wands are used primarily to help witches channel and direct energy when doing magical workings. In some practices, they are even believed to help draw in natural energy from the earth to use, in addition to the witch’s own energy. They can be as plain or ornate as the witch wishes, and depending on what is added the properties can change, but no decoration is required - and people can even substitute needles, their finger, or other things for a wand if they want one but cannot have one, though it can require more control without a conduit.
Materials
Wands can be made of a variety of materials, with the most common in recent times being either wood or stone/crystal. The properties of the wood or other material can influence a wand’s affinity for certain energies or add those energies into the workings, so choosing the material of the wand can be as important as learning how to use it.
The wands can be bought, after being made by someone else, or you can select your own by making it yourself or finding something you want to use through intuition. Regardless, whatever you choose to use as a wand you should feel drawn to and a connection towards.
Process
The process of using a wand will work slightly differently for every witch, as there are multiple ways to channel energy and each witch uses what works best for them. However, the end result is directing whatever energy is being harnessed through the wand in a way that focuses the energy. That energy is then used to create the desired effect - whether that be casting a circle, cleansing a space, or performing a ritual or spell.
Why it Works/History
Wands have been found dating back to Mesopotamia, and in Egypt made out of tusks. There are also references to wands in the Bible, Hinduism, and Greek and Roman writings. More recently, they have also been in European grimoires, and many have posited that dowsing/divining rods count as wands as well. They are a prevalent tool in magic around the world, and are still a symbol used today - the Rod of Asclepius is a well-known wand used as a symbol of medicine, for example.

✨ Spell Oils 101 ✨
Tumblr media
Spell oils are probably one of my most used tools & most popular items in the shop i own. I wanted to do a quick dive for folks who are new to them and how to use them in your practice. 🖤
What are they..? Spell oils are tools for spellwork. In simple terms they’re ritually made herbal infusions in a carrier oils (sometimes with fragrance added) with a specific intended energy behind them. Every practitioner who makes them has their own process for how exactly they’re done. You can then use the oil in your day-to-day as well as rituals as energetic boosts. Theyre used to make your spells more “potent” by adding in another layer that matches your intention. Just like you would add crystals, candles, herbs or other magical items into a spell. They’re an additional layer to your magic.
How do I use them..? The best thing about oils is there are endless possibilities. As far as your creativity lets you roam. Most commonly they are used to anoint candles, added to spell jars & ritual baths, mixed with herbs, used to enchant items, put directly on the skin, added to your hair/lotions, used on your hands or objects before a working, given as offerings, etc. I know witches who use them on their vails and clothing, or add it to their hair dye. Others will enchant items to be used in rituals or carried in their day-to-day. Unfortunately Instagram won’t let me post a massive list of all the ways to use them, but hopefully this gives you some insight.
Some practitioners make oils with incredibly specific intentions, but even within that energy you can use them for many kinds of workings. A specialized domination oil can sometimes be perfect in a money working for a new job. Mixing different kinds of oils is always a beautiful way to layer the energy needed for your working too! You’re a witch- go crazy with what feels right. ✨
Hopefully this gives you guys some ideas for how to use your oils. If you’re interested in try out ours, we currently have 18 different options on our website linked here. 👻

Witchy Reminder:
While it is nice to have a fancy leatherbound, beautifully inked and decorated grimoire...
It is not a necessity. Before I could afford to have and had the time to make one that is as pretty as mine is now...
My grimoire was a damned plastic folder stuffed with notes on notebook paper. Which turned into a plastic binder just the same.
It is not the tools that make the witch.
