Because now Shelby is parenting W!Joey and W!Scott, not the same as the empires versions. And she's also bringing sandwiches to meetings and trials like "aw you did good! Want an orange?"

Shelby also forces Scott to sleep, even though he doesn't have to. And she leaves little trinkets she made inside eveyrones mailboxes.

is New Life, Afterlife or Empires s2 part of the au? I believe they're all canon to Empires s1

As far as I am aware, New Life isn't canon to Empires, so it's not canon in any meaningful way to No Stranger Curses. There is a little easter-egg reference to it though, in that Lord Sausage of Mythland is offhandedly mentioned to have ghast hybrid heritage a couple of generations back in his bloodline. He's not a full hybrid himself, but he does still have a few of the traits: a fondness for perching in high places, a tolerance for high temperatures, and a habit of making ghast noises when very upset.

Afterlife... is technically canon, in the sense that it's a thing that happens, but it's not really plot-relevant. I must confess, this is partly because I'm personally unfamiliar with Afterlife: I'm somewhat aware of how Mythical Sausage made it lore-relevant, but I've never watched it myself and I would not feel confident working it in. The other reason it doesn't get focus is because Empires season 1 massively canon-diverges about halfway through in this AU, and I cannot even begin to work out if or how that would change the plot of Afterlife SMP.

Now, Empires season 2, though... that is incredibly relevant, for reasons primarily named Pix, Sausage, and False.

The last time we see the Empires season 1 crew, Sausage is quite possibly the guy with the most unresolved issues. For many reasons. (Not the same reasons as in canon, but just as emotionally devastating.) And now that his reincarnation is coming of age and beginning to learn just who he is, the Protector of Sanctuary is running straight back into all those problems. And that's without even mentioning the Rift, and the fact he's about to stand face-to-face with the man who founded the empire he destroyed...

Meanwhile, Pix, our primary POV character among this group, has no idea how much worse his life is about to get. The Copper King of Pixandria was always something a little more than mortal, and this Pix is painfully unaware of that. He knows nothing of what went down one thousand years ago, but there are threats creeping up from the darkness that remember him. The question is, will the historian's own history repeat itself?

And as for False, the clock-keeper, the Architect of Cogsmeade, the one none of them know... she has perhaps the greatest burden to carry. And Hermit-False is a terribly unreliable narrator. She never had a sister.

WCSMP FAE AU

After the death of the queen of the fae realm the 8 nobel families who rule the 8 kingdoms of the fae realm must fight, negotiate, and discuss who is next in line.

Lord Scott Smajor the rotten, his name brings fear to those who know of him commonly not being spoken out of fear. Legends say that he killed his elder brother to become heir, but why is he so ruthless? Why does he do this? No one has been brave enough to ask.

Lady Cleo the perplexing, unlike the others she doesn't quite have a kingdom per say rather she is one of the 4 time fae controlling how time works in the fae wild. Presumably she is some kind of leader although it is said that the 4 share equal power, so why her? People have asked and gotten various answers.

Lady Shelby the cloud bringer, the true royal living in a large family being the eldest of her siblings, her kingdom is notorious of being rather distant from the world below. Not much is known about her for that reason, so what does she have to gain? What does she have to lose?

Lady Eloise the coniving, her story is tragic her parents dying young with her being the only heir people watched her intently. She is known for her mischievous side more then anything, but why is she here? Perhaps it's just for fun, or maybe she wants to honor her parents memory?

Lord Joey the banished, banished from the winter court due to his fire magic he built a life for himself and dispite his banishment and disownment somehow he was still sought after. He was a nobody and still specifically wanted, why?

Lady Prismarina the dark, dispite water magic being a very neutral seelie magic there was something inherently unseelie, something dark within her calling out to all those who meet her. She always seems to know what is going on and this presence makes her seem arrogant. Why is she here? What is going on with her?

Lady Cupquake the blossom, choose by mother nature herself to be the heir of the spring court, she isn't familiar with royal customs. Not much is known about her with that non royal background, so perhaps she's a threat. Why was she chosen? What are her plans?

Lady Lauren the legend, she is from the totally real sand kingdom, a very closed off kingdom which is why you probably thought that place was fake. She totally isn't something they just found in the desert. Why is she here? If she's such a totally experienced royal then why does she act so improper?

Thought I would share! If you have questions I would be happy to share more about this au!!! These characters have a lot more complexity then these small descriptions show, I would love to get asks for this au please!!!

i am SO fond of my witch in the well au. the connection was between witch!lying and witchcraft smp being, well, witches. the basic concept was one of the witchcrafters accidentally summons/awakens an old power, which freed lying from the well. originally it was actually going to be scott who freed them, by trying and failing to contact an ancient power, but then joey literally fell into a well. and that was just too poetic to ignore. i think lying was going to be a fear witch specifically.

>i dont have significant plot beyond the comic, which is why it's ended (tentative, if i get ideas i may continue), but i and some friends did have ideas for interactions beyond it. if it had continued, joey was going to make some deals with the witch for more power. to quote my own discord msgs on it, "maybe he does want to be the supreme witch, but is it worth this? lying makes him uneasy. he can't help but feel he's in danger, whenever he's around them. like there's something off" (mar 2023). so joey ends up in an uneasy sort of alliance, in part because after he escaped the well by digging/building out (not bound by the magic lying was, free to move and craft as he pleases), they look very much like a wet cat.

>cleo would recognize that dealing with the fear witch is a bad idea, but also treats them more as a nuisance than a threat until given evidence to the contrary. she also antagonizes them a little, because cleo in witchcraft (and in general) refuses to be intimidated even when given good reason, and the witch is all about intimidating people.

something something slapfight between the fear witch trying to intimidate and cleo's refusal to be scared. cleo doesn't tend to overestimate themself, so how well that slapfight goes for her depends on if she realizes it won't go well for her and plays cautious or if she leans in to the slapfight and sees what lying is capable of. if it's the latter, they probably get taken out of commission long enough to preserve the critical mistake moment for others. lying, to cleo, seems a little like a jokey thing and there's a significant chance she underestimates them.

part of what makes cleo and lying's interaction/slapfight so interesting is both of them spec'd into defense and retaliation instead of offense, meaning there's a tense waiting period to see who strikes first. there might be social tension because witch!cleo and lying the witch are similar, but cleo has friendly allies and lying has only the hesitant alliance with joey. that could be dug into and inspected closely for good plot points.

another angle that was discussed was cleo, being the time witch, may have met other lyings/at least be aware of them, giving her a reason to be wary. if she has, then she probably plays cautious, and during the crux of the intimidation slapfight she makes an escape. she honestly may have been friends with other lyings in other timelines!

and, tbh, from what ive seen and heard of lyings in general, they are mostly posturing and intimidation. witch!lying has gotten their ass kicked both times ive seen an actual fight (priest!lying, maid!lying, for example). they have a lot of defensive power but there's not much to back up that posturing. in contrast, cleo is closer to 70% posturing, but has power to back that up. the witch is scary and smart, but cleo is on a server with a bunch of maniacs who kill each other for fun (civil war, house war, demise, turf war, whatever the hell season 8 was, tag, decked out 1 & 2, demise 2, etc) where the witch was on a server where folks killed in self defense or to settle scores. this means the way they approach conflict differs!

>cupquake keeps her distance because the trees give her a quick psa to Stay Away From That Thang, depicted in the comic as the trees becoming more storybook horror gnarled branches the closer cupquake got. another funny quote from the outline for the comic "for once it is the trees who speak for the lorax" (mar 2023). iirc i may have written stuff in the branches but idr? ik i wrote things in the fog but the fog was specifically lying luring ppl in to free them. cupquake nopes out and plays avoidance hardcore, bc what i recall from watching her as a kid is while she has a lot of magic power once she gets into the midgame of botania, she's also very easy to startle/scare.

>an interesting point brought up is the ravens, tameable ravens from the modpack! el had a conversation with one in her first episode and shelby tamed one. the witch can see through ravens' eyes iirc. el thinks they're crows but based on how they're tamed they're bewitchment ravens. i didnt go too deep into this one for the comic but theres potential there.

The Sea Prince; Assorted Doodles!

First of all, thank you for such a good reception on the prologue! It only gets better from there, promise >:D!

Second, as of posting, there are a planned 28 total installments of act one! I am halfway done, and once there is a backlog of beta-read chapters, I’ll set up a proper posting schedule.

Anyway, doodle time! I’ve been working on a few doodles while writing + illustrating the covers! Doodles under the cut, have a little teaser for what’s to come ;)

Illustrating the covers are super fun, cannot wait to post them with their affiliated chapter! I still have to illustrate arc three’s cover and the epilogue, but for now, here are the little things I’ve drawn for the au as a treat <3

Finalized Pearl’s facial scar while also messing with ideas of heterochromia for her :> I imagine the scar got her eye acting up, so I’ll cotninue messing with it :> also Scott’s there! Wanted to draw his bangs differently <3

OH! Their prince forms are a bit different too :0c changed up their horns (or ‘crowns’ as they’re referred) and added more gradients on em, can’t have enough of those! You can also see the difference between Pearl’s human scar vs her real scar, aaand I gave princes some extra sharp teeth so, they look a bit more inhuman :D aren’t they cute tho?

Also, concept art of the nature wives!! It’s funny that Shelby is out on pirates smp (I have not watched any of the lore in a while-) and I’ve always had plans for her and Katherine in this au ehehe, it just works! While I have her pirates skin on there, I mostly referenced the other skins you see there. Big inspo from Witchcraft Shelby tho, her cape is everything to me <3

Katherine was very fun to concept too, very straightforward! I combined most of the outfits for her reference while also making it a biiit more pirate themed, but in general I quite like it :> silly gfs <3

Finally, a SPOILER! While act one gets cooked, I have a lot of plans for act two. So out of context, here’s concept art for Scott and Pearl! Scott’s dress is just his empires season two outfit with added stars and a circlet with flowers, but Pearl? That’s on me >:D inspired by her empires outfit, just fully black. The veil came to me in an instant, it just works, both practically and design-wise!

Anyway, here’s to act one being steadily worked on! I cannot wait to show you all what sort of plans I have for this AU. It’s been such a fantastic time!

Or like Katherine shows up to visit her wife for a week and they're all like "wtf why is queen Katherine here?" and she just casually picks up and kisses Shelby. And after she leaves Shelby just says "oh she's my wife" and moves on like nothing happened.

Shelby sighed in relief as her broom finally landed at the doorstep of the cottage she called home, smiling as she dusted herself off and headed for the door.

"Katherine! I'm home!" She called happily, setting her hat and robes on hooks by the door as she ran a hand through her messy hair to tame it. When she heard no response, she simply shrugged and headed further into the cottage, which was larger on the inside than it appeared outside.

Katherine still had a kingdom to run, even if Shelby had passed over ownership of the Evermoor long before she was chosen to participate in the witch games she just returned from.

"Shelby!" Katherine's voice called out, and Shelby grinned as she turned just in time to catch her lovely girlfriend in a hug. "Sorry, I was going to respond but I thought sneaking up on you like this would be fun." She giggled, planting a kiss to the witch's cheek.

Shelby chuckled and leaned into the embrace, sighing softly. "I missed you." She admitted softly.

"I missed you too." Katherine said, shifting her arms to pick Shelby up and twirl while the other girl laughed and held on tightly to her shoulders. "How was the competition?" She asked.

Shelby shrugged, trying to hide her slight disappointment for not winning. She had kept things vague with Katherine when she left, as not to let her girlfriend down if she lost like she did. "I didn't win, but that's okay. I think I made a few friends, so I'm happy about that." She said.

Katherine nodded with a smile. "Tell me about it while I make dinner?" She suggested.

Shelby grinned. "I'd love to!" She agreed, kissing the taller girl's cheek as Katherine giggled and set her down.

Shelby recounted her adventure while Katherine watched her in awe while they took turns in the kitchen to prepare their meal, with the queen making sounds of awe and delight at every turn that made the great witch blush from the direct attention as she recounted her tale.

"I'm glad you had fun." Katherine said after they'd enjoyed their meal, resting her head on Shelby's shoulder and wrapped her arms around the witch's waist while the shorter girl washed their dishes.

"I did." Shelby hummed, relaxing into her girlfriend's arms with a smile. "But I'm just so glad to be home." She admitted.

"Me too." Katherine agreed, kissing the top of Shelby's head.

Shelby smiled, grateful to be back home with the woman she loved.

FUCK IT, CHASE NECROMANCER AU BAYYYBBEEEEEEE

Originally Chase found out about the whole necromancy thing from Moana when Tabatha died for the umpteenth time

Moana taught him how to do it incase something bad happened to Tabatha when she was gone

He started testing it out on small things like toads and lizards and plants

It went well, so he started trying it on bigger things, like dogs, birds and other animals

He got really good at it and desperately wanted to try doing it on a human, but unfortunately getting your hands on a dead body is more difficult than you would think

But with some illegal methods and a few cops getting black eyes, he revived someone! Yippe!

And he DID do it well. Not as well as he does it now, but for his first time? He did amazingly!

Moana did have to fix the person up a little bit, but over all Chase did great!

And after that he started doing it more often, and eventually he got amazing at it.

Like your great great great great grandma who died in the 1930’s? He could bring her back as long as you have the body (which at that point has probably decomposed but yk it’s the thought that counts)

That bag in the fridge that’s labeled Dead Dove: do not eat? Make that Alive Dove: still do not eat

And when he moves to Amber Beach, he starts a business off of that!

He feels bad for charging people for it but have you seen how expensive rent is? And he doesn’t charge as much he probably should for such a service, the highest he’ll go is $3000 dollars, and if its a little kid or pet than he’ll do it for free

And of course, like all things that you desperately want to keep a secret from your friends, they find out

One day, when Chase wasn't there, Shelby burst into the base and slammed a paper down on the table, and told Tyler and Riley about this ad for a necromancy service, and they decided that they would investigate it

So they went to the cemetery (morphed to add intimidation factor) and saw a man digging up a grave

welp that's probably the guy

Shelby walked up to the man and tapped him on the shoulder

“Now what do you think you’re doing, Sir?”

The man replied, “Fuck off Shelby, I’m busy.”

“Chase? W-What the fuck are you doing?”

“Oh you know, just my job. Say, you wanna watch me revive this guy?”

“Wait, what? You can actually bring people back to life?”

“Well yeah, I wouldn’t offer the service if I couldn’t do it.”

“Uhm…sure then. Tyler and Riley are here too if you don’t mind them watching.”

“The more the merrier! Plus, now I get to show Riley magic.”

(chase and riley are dating btw. i didn’t know how to put that in sooner lmao)

After a bunch of revival bullshit and dealing with a very violent teenage girl everyone except Chase is pretty shaken up by the whole thing

And the fact that Chase is treating this so casually is not helping

Riley especially, because what do you even do with this information? Suddenly the dead can come back to life as if nothing happened and you just have to deal with that

And on top of all that you learn that your boyfriend has been doing this for months and hasn’t told anyone.

Riley was more concerned than angry since this wasn’t the most legal business and Chase could probably get in a lot of trouble for it

And also you know. Digging up corpses and seeing horribly mangled bodies every day probably isn’t good for the psyche

Plus not being afraid of death could possibly lead to some dangerous decisions (which it has and will)

So overall Riley is cautiously supportive while also wondering about the morals of bringing back the dead

Tyler is freaking out about it but in a “This is SO COOL DUDE!” way

And Shelby is also freaking out about it in the way you expect for someone to freak out about it

But in the end everyone is kinda on board with it at least a little bit

And they decide not to tell the other rangers because they don’t want Ivan to burn Chase at the steak because of witchcraft

And this is probably a bit much for Koda

And they don’t feel like dealing with Kendall

And there is more but this post is long as fuck so I might make another one about it

Scott, Cleo, and Eloise have a alliance going on where they promise to help each other out if they become ruler of the fae realm.

Lauren and Joey used to be friends, in fact Joey was Lauren's first friend. That was until Joey ruined it by telling everyone Lauren's big secret (that she wasn't royalty)

Prismarina sorta ruined her relationships with most if not all the other witches by mysterious circumstances that she doesn't really understand she also has a massive crush on Eloise

Shelby has a large family, mostly consisting her, her father, and her many siblings, including her younger brother Hermes who is her father's favorite. She also has a girlfriend

Tiffany has tried to make friends, but she doesn't really know how to talk to royals due to her being a farmer before the competition
