well. it's wednesday again. and i guess that means it's time to share my wips with you. and i don't have much?

BUT, i've worked briefly on two things. both one shots that i'm not sure if i want to continue... but i'll tell you about them and give you a brief snippet of each. since that's the point of wip wednesday

i saw a good post about transfem jax and i kinda want to explore that (i know most people are headcanoning him as transmasc but. you know how i feel about hunter. you should know i love my transfem headcanons and i also have a vision)

and then my second fic. well. you know me so you should know that i've been thinking about that part in black cat chapter 90 where creed says "i still have time to slowly torture him until he dies" i mean. that's my bread and butter. you can never take away my angst and torture aspirations; it's not gonna happen

not sure how these are going to pan out since these were both written in the middle of the night because i was struck with a vision but. that's my wips i guess? have fun. hopefully i will be back next wednesday with more writing

The Bishop's Opening Cover WIP

It took me a ridiculous amount of time to make all of these clean, but I think I’m happy with them. Donnie’s knight is probably my favorite tbh. I like how it turned out slightly robot-looking. And, yeah, I went with the rook for Mikey—it just suits him better than a pawn, especially in Rise.

I ended up with two options for Leo's pawn damage-wise, and while the angst writer part of me is like make him look even worse >:D, I think I'm going with the top one.

I've got the cover almost fully done, but I'm holding it hostage from myself until I finish Ch. 10 of TGP lol

The first time Augustine had met Lysandre, one busy morning after he'd lingered at the threshold of the café, too nervous to enter, he'd seemed fairly innocuous, all things considered. Lysandre was tall – taller than some of the alphas Augustine knew – yet he didn't give off a particularly significant scent. He smelled average – a beta, then, Augustine had deduced. He'd chuckled to himself, thinking that, to betas, Lysandre probably passed for an alpha well enough if only through his impressive size, and then moved on to thinking about other things, like how well his pants fitted him, and how the fact that he was taking great care to keep as much of his skin as he could covered-up made him all the more tantalizing. Even for a beta, his scent was so perfectly neutral that, had he any reasons to be suspicious, Augustine would have wondered if it was on purpose. Diantha, he soon learned, had noticed it, too. They'd joked that maybe he hadn't presented yet, which would have explained the peculiar lack of smell – and was absolutely ridiculous. As far as Augustine could find, looking up information about him, the man was in his thirties. There were edge cases, sure, but at thirty, you could be pretty confident of your identity. Statistically, the chances that Lysandre was anything other than a beta with a strange smell were almost in the negatives.

Greetings, fair internet travelers, men, women, and potplants! Welcome to my blog! I'm theroseempress, as you probably guessed by the fact that that is my blog name. You can call me any variation of said name, Rose, Empress, whatever. Although calling me 'the' would be a bit odd... well, whatever floats your boat man.

I am somewhere between 13 and 233 years of age, though popular opinion holds that I am of an age between 21 and 34. I will neither deny nor confirm the accuracy of the latter range, though the first range is entirely true.

If you happen to know me IRL and thus know my actual name, no you do not shhhhh. (also since when were you on Tumblr and what are you doing here)

I'm chill with basically anyone (whatever your opinions are on anything) as long as you can be respectful/polite about them. While I do have opinions on all controversial topics (being that I am in fact a human and thus biased) I prefer to stay firmly neutral and out of any Important Debates/politics.

Anyway now that we've got that out of the way; you're probably here because of my writing. If you aren't, then yes, I do that. I also do art, but I'm quite bad at remembering to post any of it on here.

I just recently made a slideshow of all (most) of my WIPs! Here it is!

Most of my WIPs are still... well, WIPs, but I have a Wordpress (carolinaauthor.wordpress.com) where I'll be posting them when they're properly written. I also (theoretically) write fic, I'm on AO3 with the same username as here if you're interested ig.

I also have a writing-centric sideblog @wrose-writes so that's there!

I initially had 'my main WIP is' here, but my 'main WIP' changes at least once a week, so just go check out the writing sideblog and it should say there.

Unfortunately I've concluded I can't really keep up with tag games, but I'm still absolutely onboard with ask games! Or just asks in general to be honest. Seriously, you can come into my inbox and just. I don't know, ask me what I think of snails. It's fine.

here's a bunch of my absolute favorites for anyone who needs a distraction from the election <3 i will make a second post with shorter ones as well, this post will just be fics that are over 10k

Inheriting Love by Fictropes (22k)- Dan is a lawyer who executes wills in a small town in the English countryside, and Phil's aunt leaves him a house. One of the cutest fics I've read recently tbh, lots of banter and cows<3

Silver Arrows to the Heart by @evermorepeyton (137k, WIP)- How could i POSSIBLY make a rec list without including this masterpiece??? Dan and Phil are Formula 1 drivers, chaos ensues<3 sooooo much fun (and there are some really beautiful cool women in there too, just as a treat)

dancing on the blades (you set my heart on fire) by kishere (123k)- Dan is an amateur figure skater who scores a spot at the famous Lester training gym, where he meets the legendary Phil Lester and of course they fall in love... this one has sooo many cute fetus moments and wonderful cameos from Kath<3 absolutely love it

Like a Bowl of Oranges by cloej88 (@bitchslapblastoids) (47k)- Phil is a filmmaker looking to amplify queer stories in the media, Dan is a ghostwriter who's been writing a memoir on the side, you can guess what happens next. very VERY fun fic, lots of drama and lovely reflection, as well as the softest scenes between them. love this one (and the author :3)

The Odd Uneven Time by @yikesola (20k)- A 2009 fic from Phil's perspective, falling in love with a boy over the Internet. Absolutely WONDERFUL vibes, so so so cute (and it probably happened in real life ahaha)

Live Incidentally by yikesola (37k)- Phil makes novelty t-shirts and Dan buys them :) really funny, also some great Lester family moments

The Pianist Everyone Is Talking About... Is My Husband by @natigail (25k)- Dan is a famous pianist, Phil plays his songs on the radio, but nobody knows that they're actually married. Lots of chaos ensues, crazy fangirls can feel super represented, and Dan laughs at Phil about it all<3 this fic is so funny lol, highly HIGHLY recommend

Kick Me While I'm Down by jerserker (14k)- Dan and Phil join an adult kickball league! Phil just wants to make friends, and Dan... kicks everyone's asses <3 Really funny competitive Dan, fun times honestly :)

missing the obvious by Fictropes (14k)- Dan plays videogames in an anonymous Discord server at night, and during the day he goes to his boring office job and hooks up with his coworker Phil in bathroom stalls... I wonder how these two things could possibly be connected...

Our House by sierradeux (50k)- Dan is a real estate agent, Phil is a Youtube house flipper, they team up to cohost an HGTV renovation special and fall in love. With the house, obviously. But also with each other <3 this is one of my favorites guys I think it should be required reading for everyone on phannie tumblr

maybe this christmas by blackbirddan (13k)- it's November, im allowed to rec christmas fics now, right??? anyway, this one is HUGE for fans of the Lester and Howell families, just so so so soft and sweet and awesome<3

Strictly Come Dancing but make it GAY by natigail (176k)- i mean this one has a pretty self explanatory title... read for super hot dancer Phil, awkward celebrity Dan, and so so so many beautiful outfit and dance descriptions :3 seriously, I wish I could watch this season irl :( this is for sure in my top 3 fics of all time to be so honest

they grew up so nicely, didn't they? by natigail (15k)- Cornelia pov on meeting the boy Phil brought home, and then throughout the years. SO CUTE!!!!! really big for fans of outsider pov (me)
