melbourne weather k.m x r
Tumblr media
plot: you bring your girlfriend back down to your family for the holidays to enjoy a hot Christmas but the Melbourne weather seems to disappoint you.
warnings: fluff, shitty fucking Melbourne weather (I hate living here), Australian reader!, the format is kinda just like my Christmas day soooo (ik Katie didn't win poll but an anon messaged me and I love accepting my anons requests)
Tumblr media
You stirred in your bed as you couldn't sleep Surprisingly the air was cold and you looked at your closed blinds with a squint to see if you could see if it was still dark outside or not.
Your girlfriend Katie however was knocked out like a light, you assumed it was because out of all the games she had she hardly came off recently, she was tired so you convinced your mother last night to open morning presents around 10 instead of 9 to let her sleep in.
It felt like a normal night in North London which you hated, usually on December 24th in Australia you would toss and turn in your bed because you were too hot under your blanket but too cold when you weren't under it.
You promised Katie a hot Australian Christmas.
But you did live in Melbourne where it didn't matter what season you were in, everyday would be different.
You sat up to check behind the blinds in curiosity but Katie must have noticed the weight change in the bed and grabbed out to you "Come back to sleep" she mumbled into her pillow "weather will change" she mumbled again as she remembered all the changes in weather during the world cup that Australia and New Zealand had hosted.
You nodded your head as fatigue came over you and lowered back down to which you snuggled into Katie who pulled you even closer "I love you" she whispered into your ear as you smiled "I love you too".
When 10 eventually came your father was quick to blast music to wake you, Katie and your siblings up.
When Mariah Careys 'all I want for Christmas' seemed to get louder and louder as your dad came up the stairs you grabbed a pillow nearby and grabbed it, ready to throw it at him but Katie laughed and pulled the pillow down "let's get up c'mon"
You all opened your presents downstairs as your mum took pictures left right and center but your thoughts were stuck to the windows outside as the clouds grew grey and there was no sun in sight.
You watched Katie open your last gift to her as she revealed a locket necklace, she smiled at you in amazement, it was the same colour as her claddagh ring so it would match "Open it" you encouraged.
When she did you smiled brighter, it was a picture of you two from when you first met and on the other side was her family.
"When you're on camp and you miss me and when you're in London and you miss your family" you explained and Katie brought you into a hug.
"I love it" she assured you and pecked your lips.
Then you all got ready for the rest of your family to come over as Katie set the table with your mum.
"You make her really happy," your mum told Katie who was concentrating on making sure the forks and knives were equally close to each other "She makes me very happy" Katie smiled at your mum before a comfortable silence followed.
"I don't want to intrude but I saw the ring" your mum admitted to Katie as she popped her head up "I was going to get permission from you guys first I promise-" "Katie" your mother assured her, "I think we gave our blessing when she first brought you home to meet us" she laughed and Katie felt her heart grow.
Your mum looked out the window "she's going to hate this weather, she wanted you to experience a hot Christmas day, all she talked about when she told me she was coming home for the holidays"
Katie looked down as she heard footsteps come down the stairs, it was you. You wore a long white linen dress your mother had bought for you and you wore your birken stock shoes that Katie liked to call 'Jesus shoes' but she looked at you in admiration.
"Katie you better start getting ready" you told her as you looked at the time "you look beautiful in white" your mum told you as she walked by and gave a wink to Katie who was still looking at you.
You walked down the stairs and grazed your hand over the locket she now wore. "I knew the colour would match you well" you smiled, proud of yourself.
But you frowned now that rain had started to fall "I'm sorry" you said as Katie furrowed her brows "For what baby?" she asked and you shook your head "I wanted you to experience the hot sun that Australia had to offer on a Christmas day but apparently it decided to give us shit weather" you pouted as you looked out "It doesn't matter" Katie said as you turned to her "of course it matters" you said
"We have many more years we can experience it," she said and you blushed "Many more?" you asked and Katie nodded "Of course, I don't plan on leaving do you?" she asked with a smirk "Never" you smirked back before you heard your dog barking as a car arrived "okay now you really have to get dressed" you stressed before pushing her up stairs to your childhood bedroom where you two were staying.
As more family members arrived and Katie got dressed into her own outfit you all laughed at memories being thrown around and you cringed when Katie shared a story of you accidentally cheering when the other team scored a goal so you got her back by counting how many yellow cards she had received in the past season.
The day past as your auntie and uncles and cousins bought you gifts such as plates and glasses for your home in London "not sure how we're going to get these on a plane but cheers guys I love you all" you smiled as they laughed but Katie whispered in your ear "seriously how are we going to get these over to London".
You had all changed into comfortable clothes as Katie nudged you "wanna go on a walk to see Christmas lights?" she asked and you looked outside "It's still raining" you complained and your father scoffed from the couch "toughen up y/n" (my dad would do this)
Katie pointed at your father agreeing with him before you nodded your head again "Okay let's go" you smiled before grabbing an umbrella and saying goodbye to your family.
On your walk you noticed Katie looking nervous so you grabbed her hand into yours "You okay?" you asked and she nodded. There wasn't many people looking at Christmas lights as many people were still out with families but there were 1 or 2 families nearby "Yeah I'm okay" she reassured you but it was clear you weren't convinced.
"Katie" you said as she turned to you "I wasn't lying when I said we have many years to experience this" she said seriously as you smiled "I know" you said with a smile but Katie was still serious "Katie what's going on?" you asked
Katie looked like she was fighting a battle in her head before she put her hand in her pocket, you tried not to think straight to a proposal as you had thought that many times in the past year so you closed your eyes in fear "Why are you closing your eyes?" Katie questioned as you kept them shut "Cause I'm scared" you admitted as you heard her laugh "open them love" she said and you slowly opened them to reveal Katie on one knee with a ring box opened in her hand that held a beautiful silver ring that the Christmas lights shined on.
A gasp slid of your tongue as your hands went to your face "don't act to shocked you knew it was gonna happen sooner or later" Katie smiled "I want to be with you for every holiday, no matter what weather y/n" she said as you lowered to your knees to be level with her.
"even shitty melbourne weather?" you asked
"especially in shitty melbourne weather" she smiled

Chapter Two: turn a blind eye
Tumblr media
Krista waited for Alex there at the kitchen table with a cup of freshly brewed iced coffee in hand. She knew that she wouldn't be drinking coffee or having any sort of sugar for the next nine months, and even then she would have to stay away from it all. She couldn't help but think of Joey all the while. He would have made things better for himself and for her as well. He would have turned things around: she saw that side to him like no one else did before. The side that assured her that he was willing.
She gazed up at the lilies on the table before her and their narrow pointed petals, kissed with a light pink right in the middle there. Even from right across the table, she could smell them. Those flowers needed to be protected at all costs, much like how the glimmer of essence within her needed to be protected as well as Alex.
She hoped that he would be back soon enough, but she also hoped that he would take his sweet time with it all.
A slight wave of nausea swept over her but it was too late in the day for that, and Krista realized that a little bit of moving around would perhaps help her out with the feeling. She sauntered into the next room with one hand on the lower part of her belly and she swore that it had become ever so slightly rounder than she remembered. She shook her bright blonde head about to rid of the feeling within her, but they persisted regardless of what she did. She wanted to tell someone that she didn't feel good but no one else stayed with her in there in the house for the time being.
Krista rounded the short main support wall there to her right: to her left stood the small but cozy couch as well as a small window which peered out to the front yard and in turn the street: to think that that was to be a family room at one point. She kept on going until she reached the door to the hallway, which led back to her bedroom and the cozy main bathroom.
She spotted Joey's urn perched upon the shelf in the room, of which she took back to the kitchen table, and she set the urn down next to the vase. She returned to her seat there at the table and she gazed on at both. The late afternoon sun shone upon those white petals and the rim of silver on the top of the lid. The sole sound came from the wall clock in the next room.
She leaned back in the chair with her hands flat on the table in front of her: her engagement ring shone under the rays of autumnal daylight through the window before her. This big translucent gem nestled in between two black stones, now had to be put to bed along with Joey in the urn before her. Or perhaps she could save it for her child when they were born and took on a life all of their own. She adjusted it on her finger when she caught the sound of a knock on the front door, which in turn caught her off guard.
Krista scrambled back to her feet and hurried back into the next room, and she opened the door.
She was an older woman of middle stature, of which she stood below Krista's shoulders, complete with a full head of dark hair which carried a copper sheen within the afternoon sun and a face of milky smooth skin. Her pitch dark lenses indicated total blindness but she was as sharp as the emergency blade tucked inside of the tip of her walking cane: Krista had always wondered why she had a blade inside of the cane because she never saw her brandish it or use it against someone else for any reason whatsoever. Indeed, Joey had wondered about this himself right before things went downhill for him; she shivered and adjusted the edges of her knit white shawl.
“Mrs. Jones!” Krista declared.
“'Ello, Krista—Miss Belladonna, I should say,” Mrs. Jones greeted her with that thick distinctive New Zealander accent.
“I was wondering when you'd come back,” Krista confessed as she set a hand on her shoulder and guided her into the house. Mrs. Jones tapped her cane on the hardwood floor before her.
“Krista—” She stopped in her tracks and sniffled the air. “A man's cologne. Was there someone else here?”
“Um—yes. A boy named Alex. Well, he's not a boy anymore—he's twenty five years old as of this past September.”
“He's a boy to me, mind,” Mrs. Jones promised her as she led her to the kitchen table where she took the same exact spot as Alex prior to then, to the right of her. She cleared her throat and leaned her cane against the edge of the table. She then bowed her head a bit so Krista could see those tired, quiet eyes from right behind the pitch dark lenses. Without a word spoken from those lips, she lifted her head a bit and even though she had lacked that sight for years on end, it still felt as though she could see right through those walls of the house.
“I should tell you, Krista, that Peter will want to know how you're finding your money to pay the rent,” she started.
“I'll figure something out,” Krista vowed, though she knew in her heart that she had no quick fix to her money. Joey had what he had left in the bank following his dismissal and they had lived on that plus the small dues she was making from her act as a model. She knew that she would figure out something but what that something remained beyond her grasp for the time being.
Mrs. Jones turned her attention to her: the afternoon sunlight shone into the window just enough to cast a glow on those blinded eyes behind those dark lenses.
“You're pregnant,” she noted, to which Krista gasped.
“How did you know?”
“You sound a lot more—stressed than normal. Like something else has cropped up and now you're having to worry more about something other than the death of your fiance.”
Even though Krista knew she couldn't see her, she still stared into those lenses as if she had just been probed.
“When'd you find out?” Mrs. Jones asked her.
“Just a couple of days ago,” she replied in a small voice, and she bowed her head towards the surface of the table.
“So you must have conceived right before the poor boy took the lethal injection.” The wound was still raw for her, but Krista knew she had to keep on a brave face in the eyes of a blind woman.
“Yeah, Joey and I—we talked about it, but we never really settled on it much before now.” Her eyes wandered over to the urn right next to them. His remains, safely locked away, and yet his spirit stayed with her at an all too much rate. Mrs. Jones sniffled the air again.
“Flowers,” she noted.
“Lilies,” Krista corrected her. “Joey's former band mates—” She cleared her throat. “—brought them over here just today as a moment of peace.”
Mrs. Jones raised her hand and reached out for the flowers. With a restrained touch of care, her hand caressed over the smooth white petals, and she nodded her head in response to the feeling.
“Such an act of kindness,” she remarked as she moved her hand back from the vase and rubbed her fingers together, “and it makes me have hope for America as well.” She sniffled again. “There's his cologne again. What'd you say the boy's name was?”
“Alex,” Krista told her.
“Alex—” Another sniffle. “Very soft and soapy, as if he had just climbed out of the shower. A signature aroma of musicians for some peculiar reason.”
“He's a guitar player.”
“Ah! There's something sweet, too. Sweet with a slight bite to it.”
“He had a glass of root beer when he was sitting here next to me.”
“Right here?” Mrs. Jones raised her eyebrows and gestured down to the chair.
“Right where you're sitting, yeah.”
She moved her hips a bit in the seat.
“Nice in the bum,” she noted in a low voice. “A little too nice, I should say.”
The warmth hit Krista's face like a hard slap.
“A very soft, very gentle boy,” Mrs. Jones continued, to which she raised her head but she didn't look right at Krista, rather into the kitchen itself. “Keep him around, dear.”
“He's supposed to be back like—any second with his things,” Krista explained. “He was staying at a crappy hotel near here and I told him I didn't like the idea of him staying the night there.”
“So you offered him to stay with you for the night?” Mrs. Jones raised her eyebrows.
“For the time being. If—that's okay. He's fallen on hard times a bit, too. Left his old band about a year ago and broke up with his girlfriend recently to top it all off, too.”
“Love does rather strange things to a person,” she remarked in a low voice and with her eyebrows knitted together. “Some descend, some ascend, some act with such brass and power. I'll have to meet him straight away, deary. I can't really do it now, though.”
“Why not?” Krista frowned at that.
“My driver is awaiting me—and I have affairs to tend to in the meantime.” Mrs. Jones stood to her feet again and Krista walked right next to her all the way back to the front door. Though the cane did enough of a job for her, Krista still wanted to see her off in one piece.
Though autumn had fully enveloped upstate New York, the afternoon sun provided them a rich blanket of warmth all the way back to the sidewalk, where she spotted the low faded pale green car parked at the opposite end of the curb, and Krista wondered how exactly Mrs. Jones found the house when she was parked so far down the street.
“Are you gonna be alright?” she asked her.
“Of course, dear. When you lose one of your senses, the others make up for what lacks behind. Just pray that your child is born with them all intact.” Without another word and a tap on the sidewalk, Mrs. Jones walked on up the sidewalk back to the car. Krista watched her until she reached the passenger door and groped around for the handle. She climbed into the seat and then Krista doubled back to the house, and she wondered why Mrs. Jones even showed up there in the first place.
Perhaps it was to check on her in Joey's wake, albeit the same reason Alex visited her in the first place. But it was such a peculiar blind spot that she didn't bother to ask her of it at any given point. Before she could close the door, she recognized Alex's big voice from the sidewalk. She wheeled around and there he came towards her with a black canvas guitar case on his back and a courier bag slung down next to his hip. He had a look on his face as if he had just seen a ghost.
“What's going on?” she asked him.
“I just saw this guy on the sidewalk over here and he said he's your landlord,” he told her.
Krista stopped right in her tracks. If Peter had already showed up to the house, and yet he hadn't come inside at any given time when Mrs. Jones was there, and yet therein answered her question. She peered down the block to find that Mrs. Jones had already gone. One thing remained for certain and that was to keep the debt collectors at bay for the next nine months: once the baby was born, all bets were off after that.
“He's huge!” Alex continued with a look of awe riddled upon his face. “He was bigger than me!”
“Yeah, he really is...” Krista halfheartedly replied, and she set a single hand on her hip. The tingling in her stomach came from the nerves that time around and she seriously had no idea as to how to break it to Peter that the contract between them would have to change up if Alex and a newborn were to live with her. No way she would leave the house with a new life in the world, not without the risk of having that life out in the gutter.

Watching Season 4 of Only Murders In The Building. (E10) - FINALE!!
Rewatch of ONLY Murders In The Building to prepare for season 4:
<Part I> // <Part II> // <Part III> // <Part IIII> // <Part V> // <Part VI> // <Part VII> // <Part VIII>
<S4 E1> // <S4 E2> // <S4 E3> // S4 E4 // <S4 E5> // <S4 E6> // <S4 E7> // <S4 E8> // <S4 E9>
This is no rewatch but my new posts can also easily be blocked because I'll continue to use #OMITBRewatch as a tag. I'll also tag #OMITBS4. While quoting, I use M, O, C for the main characters.
Beware spoilers! (watching on Tuesday... I just realise Idek if you get your episodes on Tuesdays too)
S4 E10
SNAFU - Situation normal: all fucked up
Sazz is narrating the episode
She decided to have Charles as her hero!
Sazz: "When you take your hero on a journey, get him in all kinds of trouble, but land him home safely? Nothing better than that." Every single (fanfiction)author out there: Put the hero in a situation! Maybe they get a happy ending...
Sazz: "But happy endings are for movies and exotic massages."
lmao... took me long enough to find the extra symbols behind the buttons in my iphone.
Okay, but putting Mabel in front of the window and then letting down the blinds... extremely dramatic. Well done, Marshall!
... why is Marshall so extra? That jump was so unneccessary.
Listen Marshall, there are two more people who know about you. If you kill Mabel that is three deaths and you will still get in jail.
"You've got fail." <- no one says that.
Charles. ARE YOU SERIOUS?!
O: "Wh-What if you do it from Vince's? It's right next door?" C: "That is the first good pitch you've had since this whole thing started." O: "It took four seasons. But now I'm cookin' with gas!"
Chuppa? Is Loretta Jewish?
Aw... I know it's very bad timeing but don't be mean to Lester.
... they just move the production to New Zealand BECAUSE OF AN ALGORITHM?! Oh boy.
Vince: "Oh, great timing! I'm just doing this new thing called exercise. You wanna join?" Rudy: "He hired me to be his trainer." O: "Uh-huh."
Omg... Charle's first stunt. Channel your inner Sazz.
... oh god... Oliver is on the ledge so his bestie is not alone on the ledge.
O: "No, no, Charles, you're my ride or die. And my strong preference is to ride." That is so cute. Holy shit. But there is no space to "scoot"
Jeebus.
"Step. Drag. Step. Drag. Step Drag."
Who do you think is doing the "Ding Dong", Charles? The lovable weirdos.
Vince: "We wanna borrow some sugar!" <- Perfect.
They are doing a perfect job of being a weird distraction.
I agree with Oliver, don't go inside, Charles!
The Multitool!!
Holy shit, well done, Charles!
... holy shit... that Dad sounds fun. But in the end he was correct. Marshall is a killer, not a writer.
Oh my god... please don't tell me that Sazz's first draft was so good that Marshall got jelous and decided to kill Sazz? You know kid she has like 30 years of expierence within the showbiz on you. She probably read thousands of scripts and knows what works and how it works. Someone like her being better is no shame!
Also I know Marshall is not his real name but I remember it like that and I'm so bad with names.
Asshole.
EXPIERENCE! ASSHOLE! She knows the characters personally and she has expierence. Shit, she knows the murderer of the first season personally, has an affair with her. Like, of course that script is good! Jeebus fuck!!
... an A-class asshole.
Rex.
Police Academy SEVEN?! ... apparently the last of the movies... I probably saw it but if so, only once?
Aw... Sazz is so hurt :(
... if Marshall was clever and less of an asshole with his own head so far up his own ass that he could think in logical storylines, he would had killed Sazz right there in her own home.
You know Marshall, you did nothing. This was not your work...
How did Marshall remember the Dudenoff apartment??? Did he knew Dudenoff before this whole thing?
OH! RIGHT! Sazz' script... omg what was the sidestory???
They have the original script... all right, let's get through the whole killer-monolog and then we'll hopefully get answers.
... he takes off the beard and becomes a killer.
How did he close the window from the outside? Wasn't it painted shut?
OH MY GOD, SAZZ!! Believing into Charles until the very end.
Stop being so extra, Marshall
HOLY SHIT NOT LIKE THAT
JAN IS CRAZY
And freaky.
Jan and Charles are endgame?
Loretta is not gonna get murdered.
Fuck the algorithm.
Howard and Winnie! Ring-bearers.
Awww Mabel and Charles are leading Oliver down the aisle.
Jesus fuck, Uma.
Awww Dickie and Will are leading Loretta down the aisle.
Adorable!
Loretta: "You are the most extraordinary man I have ever known." O: "Ah... thank you." Loretta: "You are. You brought down a murderer, and you can merengue. I mean..." O: "Mm. What a combo."
Lmao... how sad Charles looks when Mabel takes his class of campaign.
Adorable.
Now, who is that?
Lmao Uma just stealing the elevator.
Her husband is Nicky "The Neck" Caccimelino. We heard that name in the news in episode 9.
Woman (Sofia): "I am disappointed." - Hello disappointed, we are Murders in the building.
Keep it in your pants, Charles.
Loretta and Oliver are so adorable. Holy shit.
"Where have you been?" GOSH.
So... they will find a body any moment now...
LESTER
NO
NOT LESTER
OH MY GOD
NOOOOOOO and in the fountain that he said is good luck. ... that explains why he wasn't on duty. Oh my god...
... the glass with ashes with the bow tie....
Well, that was season 4... and now it's going to be a long time until season 5.
Boi.
BOI.

“Runs in his veins,” Thomas said proudly. Maybe some other parents wouldn’t be thrilled aboutt their child having the swamp life in tthem, like itt was part of their evolution. But he was. He’d gotten tastes of it, back when Flotsam had taken him to the encampment and showed off his childhood, and his nature-loving soul adored it. It wasn’t all about open meadows and pretty forests and picturesque mountains. He liked ALL nature, the ugly, tthe dirty, the dangerous. The white rapids and the flaring volcanos. So he fell in love with the swamps too. He was getting more in the mood when he put on the march, and when Flotsam was growing more excited, clearly. He was stoked - though admittedly, it was more for watching Flotsam be in his element like this. He knew he was going to have a good time. This wasn’t a trudge along behind and only smile for the camera type of trip, he was going to go as full in as he could. They rarely had to threaten in their new home of New Zealand, except for with Thaddeus of course, but Thomas would have been threatening him anyway, just to keep him on his toes. They were really well liked there. There were respected there. When they walked into a business, there weren’t looks of exasperation or fear or ‘oh no, here we go again’ from the staff. They were greeted with smiles, with light conversation, with excitement because even though tipping wasn’t customary in NZ, Thomas did it anyway. This was more the way that Thomas was used to being treated, since he hadn’t had that reputation that the Laveaus had until he became one, so he felt like he was in his element. “Fucking right you are,” Thomas said, taking the opportunity to check out Flotsam once more. Floresecent lighting, fireplace lighting, natural sunlight, Thomas didn’t care, just as long as he could look at his husband. He looked good under all the different types of light. He even looked good in the dark, where Thomas groped like a blind man at the well-memorized contours of his body. “Your legs are shapely but I don’t know if they can handle the stairs the way they used to,” He said, playfully. He’d be impressed if they did. They were getting to used to their level house without any stairways. He was holding his own though, as they climbed up the steps, with the triplets in their arms, in their little carrying case on Thomas’s front and back, getting views from all sides. Really, it was like watching everything in every direction when Thomas focused on the open windows. He was fine with slowing down too, not saying anything, and taking Flotsam’s pace rather than hurrying up ahead. Even his legs were starting to burn. It was going to be a lot easier coming down than it was going up. He was there, focused in on Flotsam’s heartbeat, making sure it was still going strong, ready to take over and carry him if it came down to it.
He took that break too, holding onto the rock and looking about, wind lightly blowing on his face, through the gingery beard. He took a water out of his pack - thinking ahead given the exercise - and offered it to Flotsam. The monstaries were cool for a quick look. For a little bi of a thought experiment. Like imagine being secluded out here, it might as well be a deserted island if it wasn’t for the boats going back and forth. What would he bring to a desert island? Flotsam, maybe some good knives, though Flo was more than likely to have that covered himself. Maybe a couple of brews, why not make a date out of it. Now that was an idea. None of the annoyances of other people. Except the monks had the other monks and if Matthew Gregory Lewis was right - monks were assholes. “Lots of water, I imagine,” Thomas said. It wasn’t as if there were any shops or giant coins or other such attractions to keep an eye out for. “Maybe some puffins, over on Little Skallig.” He was fine with it though. He didn’t need anything big and grand to look at, not when nature was already all around them. “Dunno if we can from here, love, since we’re way on the south western side, but we can travel north, go there, stay a while. It’s not as if we’re in THAT big of a rush to get back home?”
Tumblr media
Course he missed Scout. Chip and Dale. His grandkids. But this felt a little more important at the moment. He had missed outt on the Alaska trip since he hadn’t been talking to Flotsam at that time yet, it was shortly after that they came back into one another’s lives. But he heard all about it, saw the pictures and the videos, and felt an insane amount of envy. Being cuddled up with Flo, watching those lights? Yes please. So he was fully on board with driving seven hours up there to hopefully catch the lightshow.
Flotsam loved Thomas liked the swamps. Sometimes Valerie got so caught up in the fact they'd felt they had to leave and had left it she forgot she was allowed to love it as much as they did. Little moments like this fed their soul and continued to remind them they were also allowed to love who they were.
"Oh, I know you didn't just dis my gazelle legs." He laughed.
Tumblr media
Jokes aside and unknown to Flotsam Thomas was ever focused on his heart during the climb as was probably more the real risk for Flotsam's health physically than his legs if there was one. Thomas would be able to notice though Flo was pretty good at not pushing himself. He'd pace himself when the time was right. He would hear strain, but Flo would always manage to slow himself down before he'd get into any danger zones. It'd be the sort of thing a normal human would never notice, not even Flotsam, not consciously doing it, but Thomas's ears able to hear it. Flo just knew when he felt like he needed to slow down. So he did. He'd never know anything was borderline detrimental if he'd have pushed. But, he never did. He was happy. He wasn't stressed.
Thomas kept him smiling. "Lots of water. Okay, Mr. Obvious."
He kept chuckling along when Thomas didn't seem to know about the northern lights.
"Yeah, no. I'm in no hurry I suppose. We could or I could just look it up first." Then he pulled his phone and realized there was limited to no cell service. His bars were flickering so he spoke in Star Wars mode. "Oh right. I forgot. My communicator is out of range here."
"Ah well, guess we just stay till night and find out, or simply ask someone." He sneered his nose a little as he said. He wasn't the sort of guy that refused to ask someone for directions if need be kind of old stereotype, but he didn't like to bring people into his fantasy world once he spaced himself away from the other boat riders enough to feel like he was having a private time with Thomas. He had damsel in distress face for about two seconds as he considered these options in his head. No. He hated the invasive feeling of "other people" in his life so much he finally said, "Guess we're staying all day then." Then he smiled, took a deep breath, and got his gangly legs moving again, not a care in the world, space un-invaded, happy as a rogue-jedi-clam.
When they did reach the monasteries Flo had to chuckle at their formations. He couldn't help himself because movies be damned he didn't prepare himself and each turn of the steps was surprise.
Tumblr media
"I need all the pictures here. Chip and his fam is going to be so jealous we got to hang in the punk rock beehives and he didn't and I want all the proof for bragging rights. That is one pilot that didn't get to come to the stone temple." He smacked his knee at his own joke. "See what I did there. For real though. They look like beehives."
He took one of the pups as his mind started to gear up and held her high like he was standing on Pride Rock as he jumped on a small stone formation between two big stone beehives with the grand view of the water behind him.
Then he yelled out in sing song Lion King voice at first, "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh Zabenya I'm standing between the two biggest punkest boobs. I thank thee boobie Gods for the harvest of my trappings. After Valerie got her bust she got the three best kiddos and a Mr. Laveau of the most sexy proportions. I will be grateful and thankful and totally 'rrrrrock' my boobs with pride in the Great Boobie God's honor that they have bestowed upon me such a hot rack."
Then he bent down to one knee, put the child on it, took a sec to balance, and pulled his white light saber, gave it a twirl to telescope it out, and posed like it was a movie moment of reverence and awe.
Picture perfect. His saber was made of a conductor too, so that he could jolt a little of his electric sparklers in the handle and it would light up and crackle something fierce in comparison to some of the toys people could purchase. It was a creation Scout and Dale helped with of course. So, the moment would catch a couple travelers' eyes from afar especially from being loud and yelling out words like boobie gods. So, even though people weren't closely nearby, a few were still watching from their own hilltops what the fucking and/or with big eyes.
Then after making sure Thomas got some pictures he turned around and said to the rock hives gods, "Oh, and by the way, I love what you did with Dolly Parton, but thanks for keeping mine a little more modest."
It was probably best people weren't too-too close because they would be thinking Flo was out of his mind. He probably was either way but carrying on hollering about having boobies while he was clearly a flat chested man would probably seem a little odd to people.
He ran up to Thomas after his burst of excitement and said, "Is it bad I kinda want to fuck in a giant stone tittie because I kinda really do?"

Unusual Restaurants, Dans Le Noir
Tumblr media
Starting in Japan (where else would a totally quirky theme start), the concept of a 'blind restaurant' saw a non profit organisation called SIEN, and Higan-ji, a virtual Buddhist temple created by Japanese monks join forces at Ryokusen-ji, a temple in Asakusa to introduce a blind or 'black' restaurant. The concept is, that dining is carried out in complete darkness. The theory being that with the lack of sight, your other senses are heightened, and becomes more of a sensual experience. Dans Le Noir Translating as In The Dark. This is a chain of restaurants spread through Europe and also with some locations in Africa and New Zealand. They offer the experience of dining in the dark, with your serving staff being blind or partially sighted. Blacked Out Windows Of A Dans Le Noir The food is typically higher end fare, think 5 star rather than local café. Another benefit is the relationships with your dining companions. You have no idea who you are talking to, so the conversation tends to be without preconceived notions. This is definitely on our bucket list to try. In the meantime if you need food you can actually see, then check out our gourmet burgers. Read the full article

An in-depth look at how to keep cold floors warm
There are many ways to warm cold floors in winter. Effective floor insulation is one way. Carpets and rugs enhance insulation and minimize heat loss. Installing underfloor heating systems can also keep your home warm. These systems circulate warm water through pipes under the floor to heat the space evenly.
Thermal underlays or insulation boards prevent cold air from entering from below. For warmth, your home needs proper ventilation in addition to these steps. Sealed windows and doors keep cold air out and drafts away.
Finally, using heavy drapes or blinds on windows helps reduce heat loss and make your home cozy. These methods ensure warm, comfy floors all winter.
Understanding the importance of underfloor insulation in NZ
In cold places like New Zealand, underfloor insulation is vital for home comfort. Homeowners may avoid heat loss via flooring with proper insulation, keeping their homes warm in winter.
Many people use carpets or rugs to offer insulation and style. Another successful method is underfloor heating, which circulates warm water beneath the floor to keep the house warm. Thermal underlays or Pink Batts Insulation Auckland boards can prevent cold air from entering from below.
Proper ventilation requires sealing windows and doors to avoid drafts and keep cold air out. Heavy curtains or shades on windows offer warmth and reduce heat loss. In New Zealand's unpredictable winter, homeowners can enjoy warm flooring by prioritizing underfloor insulation and executing these techniques.

Types of underfloor insulation materials
Homeowners can choose from many underfloor insulation options. Thermal underlays or insulation boards are a common way to block cold air from below. Foam or other insulating materials can be easily put under the flooring. Fiberglass insulation in batts or rolls for floor joists is another common option. This insulation has good thermal qualities and is straightforward to install.
Spray foam insulation uses liquid foam that expands and hardens to insulate the floor. This approach creates an airtight heat barrier. Each underfloor insulation material has pros and cons, so consider cost, efficacy, and installation convenience when picking one for your home.
Discuss various insulation materials available in the market
Many underfloor insulation materials are available to homes. Thermal underlays or insulation boards are popular because they block cold air from below. Foam or other insulating materials can be easily put under the flooring.
Fiberglass insulation in batts or rolls for floor joists is also popular. This insulation has good thermal qualities and is straightforward to install.
Spray foam insulation is another option for a more seamless and airtight solution. This includes applying liquid foam that expands and hardens to form a floor insulation layer.
Each type of underfloor insulation has pros and cons, so it's vital to consider cost, effectiveness, and installation convenience when choosing one for your home.
Installation process and considerations
Before installing underfloor insulation, homeowners should consider several issues. Thermal underlays and insulation boards are easy to install by homeowners. These materials are trimmed to size and placed under the flooring to block cold air. Due to allergens, fiberglass insulation requires additional caution during installation. Handling fiberglass batts or rolls requires safety clothes, gloves, and ventilation. Since spray foam insulation expands and hardens quickly, it must be applied carefully. When utilizing spray foam insulation, observe product directions and take safety precautions. To maximize underfloor insulation efficacy, homeowners should prioritize safety and thoroughness throughout installation, regardless of material.
Explain the steps involved in installing underfloor insulation
Installing underfloor insulation requires numerous procedures for excellent results. First, choose an insulation material based on thermal performance, environmental impact, and installation simplicity. After choosing the material, measure the area to be insulated and determine the necessary quantity.
Thermal underlays and insulation boards are easy to install. Cut the material to fit under the flooring and place it down to block chilly air. Maintain continuity by avoiding gaps or overlaps between sections.
Installing fiberglass insulation requires greater caution. Wear gloves and protective gear before handling fiberglass batts or rolls to avoid skin discomfort. Install insulation snugly between floor joists to prevent material compression or straining.
Spray foam insulation requires careful manufacturer directions. Apply liquid foam continuously beneath the floor to expand and solidify into an insulating layer. Consider safety measures during application, including donning protective gear and ensuring enough ventilation.
During installation, stress safety and completeness regardless of material. This involves following product instructions and protecting yourself when dealing with insulating materials. Underfloor insulation helps keep frigid floors warm in New Zealand's unpredictable winters with proper installation.
Additional tips for maximizing warmth
Additional tips can increase warmth and underfloor insulation efficacy. Seal floor and subfloor cracks before adding insulation. Stopping cold air from entering will improve thermal performance.
Insulate the underfloor perimeter walls to further prevent heat loss. Reflective foil insulation over underfloor insulation is another alternative. This will reflect heat back into the room and boost efficiency. Last, inspect the insulation for damage or wear and repair or replace as needed.
Settling, moisture damage, and pest infestations can reduce insulation effectiveness. Addressing these concerns quickly will ensure that your underfloor insulation provides optimal warmth throughout winter.
Tumblr media
Conclusion
In conclusion, warming your cold flooring in winter is essential for a cozy home. Understanding the importance of underfloor insulation in New Zealand helps you choose the right materials and installation methods. Adding warmth with rugs, carpets, and draught excluders helps boost insulation. For maximum results and conformity with norms and standards, insulation installation should be done professionally. These solutions can help you keep your floors warm all winter while lowering your energy bill and carbon footprint.

In this article, we will explore the market size and trends for blinds in New Zealand, including the popularity of motorised blinds and honeycomb blinds.
Market Size for Blinds in New Zealand
The blinds market in New Zealand has experienced steady growth in recent years. According to a report by IBISWorld, the blinds and awnings manufacturing industry in New Zealand generated revenue of $96.3 million in 2021. This represents a 2.2% increase from the previous year. The report also indicates that the demand for custom-made blinds is growing, as consumers increasingly seek bespoke solutions that fit their specific needs and style preferences.
Trends in Blind Designs
Motorised Blinds
Motorised blinds have become increasingly popular in New Zealand, as homeowners seek convenience and ease of use in their homes. These blinds are powered by a motor that allows them to be opened and closed remotely, through a smartphone app or a wall-mounted remote control. Motorised blinds are a good option for large windows, high ceilings, or hard-to-reach areas, as they eliminate the need for cords or manual operation. They also offer enhanced security, as they can be programmed to open and close at specific times, giving the impression that someone is home.
