thinking about the JoJo stand Kraftwerk and how it was probably really hard to understand for manga readers but because Breath of the Wild came out almost exactly one year before the Golden Wind anime, everyone who watched the anime understood it immediately because it's functionally identical to Link's freeze momentum ability

Hi, I got a question for you is till in character when he performs or is it really himself??
Hey, sorry for the delay in my reply, getting back to normal life hasn't been easy 🤣
Till clearly plays a role on stage, I could even say several roles, because there's his stage persona, the confident, provocative orchestra conductor, there's the butcher of Mein Teil and there's also Wiener Blut Till (I remember Flake saying that Till scared him when he performed this song 😅)
I remember a review of 2022 from the online magazine jankysmooth.com which said : "Onstage, perhaps the coolest element of a Rammstein show is the sort of character each player inhabits while onstage. They each carry a specific physical style about them, one guitarist violently stooges around while the keyboardist plays while walking on a treadmill. The genius charisma of Till Lindemann is in a class all his own, infusing the bleak darkness of German cinema with the baroque drama of Bertolt Brecht, the slapstick of Buster Keaton, the android likeness of Kraftwerk and finally the subtle yet vulgar humor that is original to Rammstein. Till can be goofy one moment then hardcore and insane the next. It’s like he’s a damaged wind-up doll that survived the end of the world by crawling up from the bottom of a burning trash-heap ten miles deep. You watch him jeer and crank his body parts in small, detailed movements that even people in the very back of the stadium can see and feel. These small movements and expressions take a very long time to master but its in these details that Till built a larger than life stage persona. All this derangement in body movement you also hear in his voice, whether singing with gravel or drama, it’s a voice that can only come from someone with a story to tell, someone that’s seen hell and come to warn you all."
The six guys play roles on stage, about which Ollie said : We are playing roles and staging elements. We are wearing costumes. In our view it’s an opulent opera with carnival characters."
And Schneider : "Rammstein has always been about roleplay. "Who even looks like Till on stage ?" ; or again : "costumes and make-up play a big role for us - it also has a certain ritual character in the preparation for the show."
However, sometimes the character of Till fades and the real Till appears. Like the time in Berlin in 2019, when he held back sobs while singing Ohne Dich because he had lost one of his close friends. Or last year when he had tears in his eyes during Ich Will : saddest video
But it's not just when he's sad that his character disappears for a few seconds. When he's in a good mood and having fun on stage, he sometimes laughs, like this year with Paul during Pussy : "sorry Paul"
It's often when emotions, happy or sad, overwhelm Till, when he can't fight them, that he really becomes himself again. It's rare - he's extremely modest with his emotions and seems to hate showing them in public - but it happens.

yeaghhhh the sasha nein topster in no particular order !! at least what i think he'd listen to. infodump maple ramblings of his music listening headcanons under cut::
i think he'd probably have fairly eclectic tastes. i infer from the weird alien electronic/brass sounds of sashas immaculate mind that he'd like more experimental stuff . n obviously he's gonna adore kraftwerk!! every time he gets to do the music during his carpool with milla he's putting on the entirety of autobahn. the 20 minute one. but then he's shown to have a fondness classical stuff too given the censors unleashed just being an interpolation of eine kleine nachtmusik + the music his mother listened to being classical so he probably listens to a wide range !! he's on his own whenever he's working in the lab so he probably has a bit of background noise on. i also like to infer a wee bit of new wave from him given the eyeliner and him just generally reminding me a lot of gary numan
he's a lame semi-pretentious music nerd sort of. if he likes/dislikes a certain song you WILL be hearing a thorough explanation as to why, to the point where his infodumps can last long enough to where the song's already ended. he tends to save the more long-winded speeches for the stuff he likes though. better use of time focussing on what he likes. also hyperfixation.
him and milla have a surprising amount of overlap in their music tastes !! the most prominent ofc being talking heads. they've definitely had a silly cute little date where they watch stop making sense together,,, if he's not got milla to keep him in check, sasha probably solo dances like david byrne anyway. the weird, precise movements remind me of him. but anyway anyway their musical affections find a little overlap in new wave/synthpop stuff !! and they both enjoy björk and broadcast, albeit different albums. (mildly off topic but tmtltt by björk reminds me of milla's dance party music somehow). and milla's love of disco has rubbed off a little on sasha - he'll catch himself quietly humming abba as he gets dressed. it's not particularly his cup of tea, but the association it carries and the thought of how happy milla looks when she's dancing makes it all the more important to him . accidental sashamilla sidetangent they make me so sick anyway .
a lot of the stuff he listens to is wordless genres in order to help him focus better while he works. and just because sometimes it's too overwhelming to listen to anything that's not ambient. i like to think he has a little cassette player that he takes to work sometimes on the slow days where he's writing up scientific papers or having to do more boring, menial tasks. like the sony walkmans with the fun orange headphones;;; they match his glasses :]
also the dialogue where he's singing/humming after getting hit enough times under the stamp is so so real to me. obviously he was very light-headed there but i like to think he'll very quietly sing along to a song he's listening to if he's alone ... hes so sweet i hope he dies
grahhghh accidentally wrote more than i meant to oops. very rambley i just like writing about more mundane aspects of characters because it;s still so interesting to me... helloooo hello im maple
#hi i like music and songs and albums !!!! and sasha i really like sasha#good to collect all my thoughts like this it's so so fun#maple sashautism

The Royal Family — S/T (Cardinal Fuzz / Echodelick / We, Here & Now)
Don’t confuse The Royal Family with the garage pop band that gigged around Edmonton in the 1960s. This regal troupe lives in the now. They’re a Toronto-based psychedelic supergroup comprising personnel from various outfits, such as ROY, Possum, Wine Lips and The John Denver Airport Conspiracy. Such a multifarious origin means that their influences also arise from multiple sources. Raga, drone, kosmische, chanson and baroque elements all wind their way into the band’s sound. The Royal Family’s technicolor tapestry spreads across multiple branches of a vast psychedelic family tree, the luminescent roots of which originate from various points around the globe. They fuse all these influences together with their own whimsical notions, brewing a heady concoction perfect for mind expansion.
The Royal Family’s chameleonic approach to psychedelia reveals itself immediately. They kick off their debut album in a raga mood with “Morning Song,” a swirling whirlpool of chiming acoustic guitar, a meditative drone and a sitar melody courtesy of Jordan Sosensky. The Indian-tinged harmonies circle gently like slow motion turbulence that peppers an otherwise sonorous river. The languidly moving eddy currents mirror the refrain “take your time, it’s all you have.” That phrase is the perfect summation of the spirit of the album, which unfolds with an unhurried grace. As the track climaxes, various percussion implements enter at all angles evoking the ecstatic revelry of Amon Düül’s most delirious emanations.
With a tongue-in-cheek wit, The Royal Family satirizes Canada’s symbolic subservience to the monarchy with its name, while simultaneously embracing the country’s anglophone and francophone roots with its lyrics. “Le Ciel Bleu” and “Chocolat” showcase chanteuse Astrid VanRuymbeke’s delightful French singing voice. These two tracks, along with “La Maison Du Bonheur” emphasize the band’s baroque leanings, employing flute, melodeon, xylophone, chimes and other unconventional instruments. The Royal City really lean into their baroque side on “For the Birds,” which contains vocal harmonies eerily reminiscent of The Left Banke’s “There’s Gonna Be a Storm.” It’s the gentlest track that the band offers and includes contributions from Toronto folk mainstay Hieronymus Harry.
The back half of the record is a song cycle that narrates the stages of a caterpillar’s metamorphosis into a butterfly. It flows with a lysergic stream of consciousness logic and incorporates multiple genres within its kaleidoscopic corpus. The propulsive “Chrysalis” gives a nod and a wink to Kraftwerk and Neu! while “Metamorphosis” and “I’m the Wind” tug at threads previously loosened by Olivia Tremor Control. It’s the two-part “When I Was a Butterfly” suite where The Royal Family lets its freaky wings unfurl. The song is a culmination of all that came before, the perfect denouement to this cosmic opera.

I want to make a playlist for my girlfriend presenting the music that's been important to me through my life. Any tips?
Well, the first question you’ve got to ask is if you’re going to be doing this as a chronological narrative, or whether the playlist’s narrative is going to be structured according to a different logic. But I’m assuming you’re asking me something along the lines of how I do my frog boil playlists.
A lot of it is having a sense of relatively liminal tracks that exist in spaces between two things. Collaborations are one of the most obvious layup ways to do this. If I’m doing a stretch of 2000s indie stuff like Metric, Bat for Lashes, and Florence and the Machine then a really reliable way out of that is to drop Chvrches’ “How Not to Drown” and then go do a Cure song off the Robert Smith vocal. Trent Reznor is *great* for this—with Saul Williams, Halsey, and HEALTH collabs you can get in and out of NIN really easily.
There’s also the more nebulous sense of noticing when an artist is assimilating a style and using that as a jumping off point. Bowie’s a great example here. Want to go to 70s Black music? May I suggest “Young Americans” or “Golden Years.” You can go from “Ashes to Ashes” to all sorts of reggae influenced music (I’m very fond of smashing into Rihanna’s “Bitch Better Have My Money”). But there’s tons of possibilities in this direction because genres influence each other and cross over all the time.
Influence time jumps also work—you can go from one of Tori Amos’s big pop songs like “Cornflake Girl” to any Florence and the Machine anthem because Florence Welch blatantly has Tori Amos as one of her major influences and it shows when you play them back to back.
So, for instance, what I’ll often do is pick a set of genres and tones I want to be in, then figure out my ins and outs. Here's an arbitrary example:
A run of 90s alternative Bangers, ending with Closer
Use Saul Williams to transition into a rap section, then use the very smooth transition from rap to contemporary R&B that you can do a dozen different ways.
Wind R&B backwards to disco, and drop Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love”
Follow Giorgio Moroder into 70s electronica, out to Kraftwerk and then forward into 80s synthpop.
Obviously the songs that matter to you will provide you with different options than those, but the principle will remain the same.

"Droht Baden-Württemberg jetzt der Black-out?", fragt echo24.de.
Was war wirklich passiert?

Things I Like • Boulogne Boat Music • 2024
We were in Boulogne last week and, walking back from the restaurant, captured this unexpected boat-song concert - the musical everyday, indeed.
The combination of wind-whistle and clanging noise reminds me of the gamelan sounds of Debussy etc, and of the machine-noise in Kraftwerk...we sat and listened for a bit.
We have whistling balconies in Folkestone, but not so much clanging.
I've posted before about the appeal of machine-noise as music, just pop music into the archive search bar, top right.

Reblogging for in depth music taste headcanons bc I was talking about it earlier on discord 🫶
Breaking it up into “canon” as in music that would be allowed in the fallout discography, and “non canon” as in music that surpasses the (at this point very vague) cut off for music, but I think they would theoretically like anyway.
Dala-
Canon: First and formost, she likes lounge music, i think this transcends time period restrictions or not. 60's matini lounge music her ABSOLUTE beloved. She prefers music without words imo, but it’s not like a hard preference, she likes having music on when she works.
Non canon: obviously this just extends to lounge music created past 1963 ish. But I also think she would like disco too. I know this girl has been to the club. she probably likes the bee gees and earth, wind & fire. Not like a super fan but I think she’d enjoy it.
0-
Canon: geez idk about 0 tbh. In terms of fallout era music, I think he's a kind of "likes whatever's on" in canon fallout person. Imo he'd like the song The Great Pretender by The Platters a lot though. I also think (and I’ll let it slide as canon since a song from this album was in 76) he Really likes the Pet Sounds album by The Beach Boys. I don’t think he’d like their surf music as much. Fake fan.
Non Canon: outside of the time constrants i was extremely tempted to say he'd like prog rock because of the venture bros reference. but thinking about it YEAH he'd like prog rock. I think canon 0 wouldnt be much of a musichead but if he heard prog rock it would change him. He still also likes Pet Sounds.
Borous-
Canon: Borous loooooves frank sinatra. regardless of time constraints he loooooves frank sinatra. He also likes elvis and probably Dean Martin too. The only Beach Boys song he knows and likes is Kokomo
Non Canon: even with access to modern music I think his taste would still be the exact same as above. Maybe with the inclusion of Jimmy Buffet.
Klein-
Canon: He says he doesn't like music or just listens to classical while he works, but in the scope of canonically available music him LOVING stuff by Lesley Gore and The Andrew Sisters and the Chordettes and alike would be really amusing to me. He'd never admit it but you can rip It's My Party and Pink Shoe Laces from his cold, dead hands
Non Canon: same taste probably, though I could see it transferring over to equivalent more modern pop songs. Or like 2010 girl pop. Rest in piece Klein you would’ve loved l love it by icona pop featuring Charlie xcx
8-
Canon: big instrumental jazz-head imo, also maybe he’d like opera bc that’s an audio option for the sonic emitter? Idk
Non canon: i really think 8 would love kraftwerk. He'd love any synthesizer forward music. He loves the Moog Cookbook, Wendy Carlos, and Jean-Jacques Perry. he would have sex with a moog synthesizer if he could
Mobius-
Canon: He absolutely listens to the monster mash year round. He knows the Bobby “Boris” Pickett discography outside of the Monster Mash. the monster mash is his favorite song. He likes The Beach Boys but he actually Does like the surf music. I could maaybe see him liking doo wop? He just likes music that’s fun he likes to have fun
Non Canon: REST IN PEACE MOBIUS YOU WOULD HAVE LOVED ROCKY HORROR SHOW. not even that he'd be into musicals, just rocky horror specifically. I think he'd just like a conglomeration of music that reminds him of or coinsides with his interests. Like Leonard Nimoy's music (i.e. Leonard Nimoy Presents Mr. Spock's Music from Outer Space)
The Think Tank Random Headcanon List
Two people asked for this so that means it happening 👍 your welcome, most if not all of these r prewar/brain tank
-this one’s pretty supported in canon but think Dala likes fashion and dressing up🫶. I love giving her a fun little outfit
Yay
-0 had back pains pre brain tank. Also a lot of fatigue. The certified professional sleeper. When he’s working on projects in his home he tends to do it lying on the floor.
-this one’s basically canon but 8 has arithmomania. I say basically canon bc things in his house in Higgs often come in sets of 8, as well as his house being the 8th house despite there not BEING 8 houses. I think this would also extend to counting to 8 on his fingers when he’s nervous and such.
-tied in I also believe 8 has ocd. Borous has bpd.
-Dala was pretty reserved growing up, as she grew up/especially in the looped personality she became for lack of better terms “bolder and more flirty” as compensation for having been so withdrawn previously.
-I am wishy washy with a lot of gender headcanons for characters, my brain kinda just goes well idk if they’re trans but they’re not Not trans. However I do feel quite definitively that Dala is nb transfem, and Mobius and 0 are trans men.
-I think all of their names have some tie to the names they had pre recursion loop. Canonically both Klein’s name and his prewar last name start with K. I think the other’s names have similar ties.
-on that note, I think Borous’s old name (/just his family in general) has Painfully Russian origins. It makes his McCarthyism thing so hilariously ironic
-I think 8 is Canadian, but he only lived there pre annexation of Canada, he was working at big MT and living at Higgs once it happened.
-0’s old last name used to be “O’something” and people still used to call him Dr. O then and he still hated it. Doomed fate
-re: Mobius being trans, i think his first name was Edward. He named himself after Dr. Morbius from the movie The Forbidden Planet
-Klein is a big wine guy, like obvious there’s wine bottles strewn about his house, but I mean like. He’s the kind of guy to just know things about every kind of wine.
-Klein is probably the best dressed after Dala, I think he just tries to be professional for the most part. 0 thinks he’s fashionable but he isn’t. Already mentioned but Mobius dresses like an old lighthouse keeper. Cableknit sweater and the works. I think he’d also like antique pipes
I’m probably gonna alter the Klein outfit but yeah you get the idea. Doodles
-I feel SO STRONGLY ABOUT THIS. But 0 and Borous went to high school together. 0’s one line mentioning Borous in high school was just way too telling.
-Klein and Mobius need reading glasses. Dala used to need glasses, didn’t wear them throughout her childhood until like college, and then switched to contacts after college
-The think tank are all very close and got along much better prewar than they do at the time of the game. They kinda Jean-Paul Sartre No Exit’d themselves and their personalities are stuck in an endless loop. To say the least they started getting on each other’s nerves after 200 years. But this is to say they didn’t still bicker or anything prewar
-8 never really liked talking much. Possibly having selective mutism. This was mostly fine for him because pre brain tank you have facial expressions and hands and hand gestures that kinda make up for not talking at times. After the brain tanks he was kind just. Forced to talk to relay information. His speech was extremely awkward and stilted, which combined with the above head canon is why Dala made that comment about how they light him better now that his voice modulator is broken.
-they all have autism of some flavor tbh. To me. In my autistic mind.
-dead animal ment.// but I feel like Borous was that kid who like poked at dead squirrels and shit as a kid. It frames the Gabe and cyberdog thing well lol
-I’m an 8/0 head so I think they worked together a lot. Even if it’s not on the same project they would just do thinks at the same time together.
-the mentats on Klein’s bedside table are Mobius’s
-0 used to be a super big fan of House and RobCo when he was in high school. Obviously that is no longer true
-0 excels at making robots that are smaller. He doesn’t want to acknowledge this though. Muggy and his walking eyes (w/ wild wasteland) are both pretty small but they work well. The larger scale securitrons he’s tried to make obviously. Do not.
-I think the lounge music theme for the radio was a collective choice, but I feel like Dala especially likes music like that.
-Klein and Mobius used to play games like chess or checkers or card games “outside” in Higgs old person style.
-post brain tank one (woah) Klein has fleeting feelings of missing someone or something he can’t recognize. Any memories tying it to an image of a person he doesn’t quite remember. His brain just doesn’t connect that it’s Mobius and he usually just pushes the feeling down whenever it happens lol
If I think of more I’ll add them.
