cressida's storyline was genuinely shameful tbhhh it's like they started rewriting it in the first half of the season then completely forgot about the changes they'd made to make it fit the book plot and it just ends up making everyone else look bad😐 every character in the second half got a "penelope did nothing wrong" lobotomy so we ended up with eloise completely ignoring cressida being sold off to an horrible man (when she made every effort to support her in the first half of the season) and for some reason resenting her for pretending to be lady whistledown? Then they somehow frame her ignoring colin's offensively bad pleas as it being her turning away from redemption when all she's trying to do is escape being trapped in the country with her likely abusive aunt... and it ends with her meeting her horrible fate and it still being framed as tragic only to immediately juxtapose it with the bridgerton family winning the idgaf war while gleefully seeing off francesca and her future dead husband. The bridgertons were the villains of the season frfr
#bridgerton#almost as bad as marina's plot in season one. every horrible decision in this show revolves around penelope meeting no consequences ever#this is not an anti post or anything idc about the fandom ill forget about this show tomorrow but i need to get this off my chest#they had to give penelope a fairy tale ending WHICH IS FINE but they somehow did it by surgically removing everyone's personality#INCLUDING HERS#benedict's bi storyline was bad also im sorry. paul literally has like 4 lines of dialogue and he was really cool#i love tilley but she should have been cut😭 if they wanted to establish he was bi (given we know theyre not genderbending sophie)#they should have made the whole subplot about him being attracted to a man instead of a 5 minute footnote in the last episode#i liked francesca and her husband whose name idr but it felt like they were framing it as him not being her 'great love'#considering what happens to him i fjnd it childish and meanspirited soul mates aren't real and he deserves a lttl respect considering.. lmao#what else. the dialogues were horrible. especially the ones between penelope and colin in the second part im sorry#they need to fire the make up and hair department. every reference to queen charlotte felt like a wahh pls watch my show ad#i miss anthony they should change the books to make him the villain of every season bb please come back to ruin your sibilings relationships#portia and philippa were peak as always. violet deserves her own season. we need to put eloise out of her misery pls leave her in scotland#rant overrr#publishing it on my sideblog actually i feel like im gonna lose followers just for having watched this show lmaoo

Summer Sun // a The Summer I Turned Pretty fanfic
For as long as Riley Bay could remember, their names had always been linked; Belly and Conrad, Conrad and Belly.
And that was okay. Because for as long as it had been Belly and Conrad, it had been Riley and Jeremiah.
But then Susannah died, and it all went to hell. It wasn’t Belly and Conrad anymore, it wasn’t Riley and Jeremiah; it was Belly and Jeremiah. Riley was out on her own. One summer had changed everything, and she’d barely been able to find a place to fit in her friends lives anymore.
Maybe now, maybe this summer, was the time to finally put things right.
At least, it would be if Riley let Belly get her own way.

#just watched s 2 ep 7 of the vampire show#and these are just some ramblings that hopefully will not offend fans of the show im just trying to articulate my thoughts to myself#i think it was a cool idea to turn their trial into one of the theatrical performances onstage#however im still annoyed at how the domestic violence episode happened and was apparently a real thing#like idk it just ruins the whole vibe in the book of how these characters were living together doing awful things to humans yet#somehow mostly carrying on in civilized peace and not ever directing that violence toward each other for decades on end#this choice messes up the characterizations and relationship dynamics too much for me somehow#also messes up the aesthetics that are a delicate balance between the savage and grotesque and polite and refined#it was important to me that lestat wasnt the one to first cross that line in the books and that claudia was#i feel like kinda the one thing that lestat had going for him in the first book as a standalone story#was that he didnt ever cross certain lines with louis and claudia that the show made him cross there?#he seemed to have a different inner set of rules when it came to what violence he would do to humans and what he would do to them#it's hard to even articulate what kind of shittiness is a dealbreaker in a character or a ship to me#especially when theyre constantly doing stuff like feeding on people to stay alive#but for some reason lestat and louis beating the shit out of each other is just such a nonsense ooc thing to make them do in my opinion#also claudia in the book was valid for what she did to lestat already i thought. i dont see why they had to change or add to the motives#she was turned into a vampire at age 5 and therefore almost purely a vampire in nature and also totally valid in not being happy about it#and in the books lestat made her a vampire on his own after louis fed on her and they did not discuss it beforehand#and he never mentioned rules about a child vampire being forbidden and louis did not beg him to do it. in fact one of the biggest reasons#that louis and claudia decide to turn on lestat is because theyre convinced hes just pretending to know more than he does about vampirism#and either has nothing to teach them or wont ever let them go so they can find out anything for real about their own kind#these changes in the show bother me too but i think im not that good at articulating why#i also feel like as much as book louis's weakness and passiveness and guilt can get frustrating and isn't always interesting to follow#in a way that's kinda one of his more saving graces and most defining traits as a vampire as well - so i dont always know how to feel#about them making his character more powerful and aggressive and involved in things in the show at times?#on one hand i often get frustrated at his moping and indecisiveness and inactivity in the books#and yet on the other hand i find i miss his quieter softer excruciatingly polite book personality when i am watching the show at times too#p#vmpcs

You didn’t respond to the comment and did your best to ignore the stares from the others. Intrigue filled their eyes and you suddenly felt as if they placed you under a microscope. Being the center of Bucky’s attention was smothering, but the weight of their gazes settled so hard in your chest that you worried you wouldn’t breathe properly again.
You looked around in the hopes it would distract you. A nice office, just as you expected. A high ceiling like his penthouse, but with carpet instead of a marble floor. The dark, expensive desk and furniture added to the vibe, powerful and ominous. A bookshelf along one wall lined with books reminded you that Bucky really liked to read. You also wondered who painted the lone piece of art that hung above his desk. A black dahlia, symbolic of sadness or betrayal.
Why that flower?
The wall to your left pushed that thought away. Monitors took up the top half and displayed various parts of the club. You weren’t sure why it took you by surprise, especially since he mentioned seeing you in the VIP section. The man was a control freak. At the same time, the club belonged to him and he certainly wouldn’t be the first business owner to have eyes and ears everywhere around his place.
“Quick introduction before we get into specifics,” Bucky said, nodding around the room. “Thor Odinson, Nick Fowler, Sam Wilson, and Steve Rogers.”
A large blonde with long hair clapped his hands together. “Finally! The future Queen of The 107th! And a beautiful one at that. It’s a pleasure.” Your eyes widened as he stood, his stature as booming as his voice before he bowed. He actually bowed to you. “Are the rest of you not standing? Fowler, Wilson, on your feet with Rogers. This is not just a woman, this is Barnes’s woman. Show her some respect.”
“I swear, you aren’t from this world,” a brunette in a sharp black suit mumbled, but got to his feet along with the others. The unexpected gesture stunned you into silence. “We were starting to wonder if you stood us up.”
“Took a bit of convincing to get her here, Nick,” Bucky explained, making you bite your tongue when he kissed your temple. “She wanted a quiet night.”
The handsome man had a menacing glint in his brilliant blue eyes. “And how exactly did you convince her?”
“You know, you can all sit back down,” you cut in. “There’s no reason to stand just because I’m here,” you added, though you appreciated Thor’s genuine enthusiasm. It was kind of endearing.
“Nonsense. You’re all he speaks of, so you are a Queen in our eyes,” Thor said.
“Future Queen does have a nice ring to it. Maybe I can buy you a tiara,” Bucky smiled. The men chuckled in unison, with the exception of Ray.
Hyenas.
Whatever expression you had on your face made Bucky frown. “Are you okay?”
You wanted to scream how you weren’t okay at all and how terrifying the entire situation was, but Bucky took your hand before you could answer and kissed your fingers. It somehow soothed a bit of the nerves, which wasn’t fair since he was the one who tangled you in this web in the first place. “Just not used to so much attention,” you admitted.
“Let’s sit,” Bucky suggested, leading you to the remaining empty sofa. Instead of giving you space, he kept you at his side once you both sat. Was it a display of ownership in front of everyone or did he just want you right beside him? “Ray, bring her some water.”
Your heart thumped against your ribcage and the gentleness of Bucky’s hand on your cheek startled you. It was different on the club floor. Even with his men teasing you, there were tons of others around. Here in the office, the spotlight was solely on you. All because Bucky wanted you. Otherwise, you’d be invisible.
“I’ll have you home soon,” Bucky whispered, grounding you with the reminder that you didn't have to stay all night. “Just a little bit longer.”
“Told you it was too soon to bring her here,” the dark-eyed gentleman beside Thor spoke, a mildly sympathetic look on his face. “But, no, you never listen to me.”
“And I told you where to shove your opinion, Sam,” Bucky snapped, thanking Ray in a softer tone when he placed a bottle in your hand. At least you knew it wasn’t drugged or tampered with since you had to open it yourself.
“So, Barnes tells us you work with flowers?” Thor questioned.
You nodded, not sure if it should bother you that he spoke about your job or impressed that his friends took the time to remember. “Yeah, I’m a florist. I enjoy it.”
“That is a lovely profession. He also mentioned you occasionally bring flowers to the local hospital at no charge,” Thor continued before the others gave him a look you couldn't decipher. “We do not see a lot of kindness like that around here.”
“Yeah, I sometimes…” you trailed off when you noticed Bucky’s jaw clench. It wasn’t something the two of you talked about during your date, but he clearly knew. You’d have to revisit this conversation later. “Bucky, why don't you tell me about your friends?” You suggested. Anything to take the focus off you.
Bucky blinked and gave you a smile after a moment. “Sure. Years ago, Steve decided to drag me to a veteran support meeting after we served, which is how I met Thor and Sam. They invest in real estate,” he explained. “Sam focuses more on the commercial end and Thor on homes.”
The military background didn't surprise you. Brotherhood. Loyalty. Respect. There was an unmistakable bond there.
“Wilson and I were just discussing our newest acquisitions before you walked in,” Thor said, tilting his glass toward you. “Barnes didn't tell us you lived in such a nice area.”
Your stomach tightened with nerves. “Excuse me?”
Sam looked like he was considering his words when Thor’s gaze flickered to him. “Bucky may have mentioned a property or two in that neighborhood that might be a good investment. He’s right.”
Your gaze jerked to the man holding you. His lips curled, knowing and unashamed. His promise to have you out of your home… “Is my apartment building one of those properties?”
Bucky shrugged. “It might be.”
Your heart gave a hard thud. If he was serious… If his friend bought the building… No, he couldn’t do that to you.
“Nick deals with investments, too, but he focuses more on businesses over real estate. We actually introduced him to Bucky,” Sam said, effortlessly shifting the conservation back to the group. He seemed nice, but how nice could he be if he was Bucky’s friend?
“It really is nice to see the future wife in person.” Nick gave you a quick once over, but there was no judgment, unlike that jerk at the bar. “I can see exactly why he broke into your place just to talk to you.”
Bucky rubbed your back when you coughed. Nick was almost as nonchalant about the situation as Bucky was. “So, everyone really is aware that he’s a stalker,” you said.
“He prefers to think of himself as passionate or intense.”
“Pay no attention to him,” Bucky advised.
Nick simply smirked. “I was giving her a compliment.”
“Jax and Hal have already hit on her and I don't need you bothering her, too.”
“I’m not bothering her. Maybe you're the one bothering her.”
“Please, you don't have to talk about me like I'm not here,” you interrupted. Wanting to be invisible was one thing, but you wouldn't be treated as such.
You shut your mouth when everyone looked your way, but relaxed when all the men laughed again. “I like you,” Nick said. That brought a small smile to your face. It wasn't like you wanted the people in Bucky's life to like you, but it was nice to see that others weren’t phased by his power.
Bucky shot him a look for a split second before the latter put his hands up. “I don’t like her that way. We all know she's your girl,” he promised before looking at you again. “But I do like your spirit. It's good for him.”
Bucky shifted his gaze back to you adoringly as you shrank back into the sofa. “Thanks,” you whispered.
“And since you’re here, I wanted to ask what you think I should get Brady and Addison for their upcoming wedding,” Nick smirked again, but it was much softer this time. “I asked Bucky, but he thought I should ask you since you're so close to them.”
A chill ran over you. How did… “Nick,” you whispered, recalling your earlier conversation with Addison. “You’re Brady’s new boss, aren't you?”
“Smart girl.” he smiled, impressed. “I’m a boss of sorts. He’s a hard worker. Loves his fiancé. I hope they're enjoying their dinner.”
“Check their registry. Everything they want is there,” you said as evenly as you could manage, wishing you had the strength to bolt from the room.
You swallowed back the urge to get sick as Bucky rubbed your side. This wasn't just meeting his friends. This was a not-so-subtle way to tell you that you weren't getting away from him. And how could you? There was a chance that Sam bought your building. Nick had a way to get to people you cared about. And Steve showed up at your job, one of your only safe-havens. What was next?
It would've been easy to feel hollow to it all as Bucky wove himself into your life. Was it just control he sought? Or did he want to be in as much of life as possible so you couldn't forget him if you tried? No matter where you went, where you looked, who you saw, it would now trace back to him. Like he wanted everything to begin and end with him.
You looked toward Ray, but he looked at the floor. Sighing, you shook her head. You were all alone. “So, Bucky knows how to get into my home and pretty much knows everywhere I go. Sam or Thor might be buying the building I live in. Nick is working with someone close to me. And Steve… clearly knows where I work. Am I missing anything? Is this totally normal behavior for all of you?”
You could still see the intrigue in their eyes at your clipped tone. “You seem unhappy by that, but it is a dangerous world out there and you are a guarded treasure who needs to be looked after,” Thor spoke, looking to the others for support. “All of our women are.”
Nick nodded after a moment. “Varying degrees with our approaches, but yes. It’s dangerous out there.”
You huffed. Did they think they were the good guys? Were their significant others like you? Trapped? “It’s dangerous here, too.”
“You’re not in any danger with us.” Bucky turned your head toward him. “But Thor's right. You are my treasure, Kotyonok. I found you and I’m not letting you go.”
A possession. Something to covet. “You could’ve just left me buried in the sand or at the bottom of the ocean,” you whispered, ignoring the hurt in his eyes. “I didn’t ask for you to dig me up.”
“This is all overwhelming. I know it is,” Bucky whispered back, like the others weren’t listening. “If you’re upset that Steve went into your shop or for anything else, you can blame me.”
Of course that was the thing he commented on. “Oh, don’t worry. I do blame you.”
The men laughed again as he ran a finger along your neck. “Another thing I’ll make up to you.”
You huffed again. “And how will you do that? Jerk off while I’m on the phone with you? Because you already did that earlier.”
Bucky smirked at your sass when Sam coughed and said, “Steve, you’re being awfully quiet over there.” You almost forgot he was there since he hadn't said much else since you walked in.
“Who cares about Steve?” Nick grinned as he sipped his drink. “Let’s hear more about that phone call.”
“Just observing, Sam.” Steve cut in and crossed his arms as his gaze swept over the group. “And don’t be rude, Nick.”
“Is it rude if I also want to hear about the phone call?” Thor asked.
Heat flowed to your cheeks and you wished you just kept your mouth shut. “Please, forget I said that,” you begged. Because now that you mentioned it, it would play on a loop again in your mind.
Bucky said low enough for only you to hear, “Next time I get off, I want you right there with me.” The heat in your veins turned to molten lava. “But since you want to change the subject, Steve has been my best friend since we were kids and now he helps out around the club and with other endeavors,” he introduced, a hint of pride and fondness that wasn't fully extended to the other men. “I think you two are going to get along very well.”
“I think so, too.” Steve smiled and you did your best to return it, but it fell flat as you remembered the flowers at Bucky's penthouse. “Thank you for making my best friend happy. That’s all I want for him.”
“Thanks,” you said. That was all you wanted for your best friend, so you understood to an extent. “Did your girl enjoy the tulips or did you make that whole thing up?”
You weren't exactly sure what Bucky told him to do when he went into the shop, or what he told any of the men to do for that matter. Spying, keeping tabs, it was just a reminder of the eyes and ears your pseudo-boyfriend had around the city. Your brain begged you to get out of there, but you couldn't move.
“She really does love tulips and was very happy with them,” he assured you. “So I should thank you again for making her happy, too.”
You shouldn't dig the knife in after he complimented you, but you couldn't help yourself. “And are you like Bucky and stalking her, too?”
A hint of pink showed in the blonde’s cheeks when Bucky and Nick chuckled, but he gave you a lopsided grin and didn't seem at all offended. “I've actually done a little bit more than that,” he said, your heart dropping as he looked at Bucky. What did he mean? “Did you get a chance to introduce her?”
Bucky shook his head as Steve’s face fell. “Didn't stop at coat check,” he answered before he added, “His girl works here part-time, but I thought it would be better for you two to officially meet when we go on a double date.”
“A double date?” You asked.
“Yeah, the four of us. Steve and I already have a few ideas on where to go.” Another thing that wasn’t a suggestion. Wouldn’t be a choice. Did Steve’s poor girl have any idea?
“What does coat check girl’s boyfriend think about the double dates?” Nick said, typing out something on his phone.
Steve's smile slipped. “Soon-to-be ex and she has a name.”
“That's right, I forgot. You're going to ‘handle him’,” he said, your body tensing at the implication.
“I'm sorry. Didn't you break your future brother-in-law's arm?”
“I almost broke both arms,” he shrugged when you gawked at him. “My girl’s a best-selling author, but her brother is a piece of shit.”
Thor downed the rest of his drink. “That reminds me of the time I broke my father-in-law's fingers. My brother advised against it, but…”
The voices blended together as you took a sip of the water. You weren't a violent person, didn’t speak casually of violence the way they did, but the urge to hit or throw something became stronger with each passing second. All things considered, you were extremely patient with everything. How much more could you take?
“I want to go home, please,” you told Bucky. You had to get out of there. “I mean it. I met your friends and-”
The room went silent as someone knocked on the door. No one made a move, except for Ray and Steve who both reached for something in their jackets. “Expecting someone, boss?” Ray asked.
“Actually, I am.” Bucky checked his watch. “Should be Ari and a guest.”
“What guest? Not Ransom,” Steve said, his body still tense.
“And not Andy or Scott. They’re out of town,” Nick added.
Bucky’s wolfish smile was back on his face. “You’ll see.”
The doors opened and in walked the man who insulted you at the bar, looking around like he owned the place. Ari followed with a glare that had you shrinking into the sofa again. The night was just getting better and better, wasn't it?
“John?” Sam didn't look impressed. “Really?”
Bucky stood up to shake the man’s hand and you suddenly missed his warmth. “John. Enjoying your evening?”
“Yeah. That shirtless bartender gave me drinks on the house.”
“I’m glad Hal took care of you.” You could smell the liquor coming from him the further he stepped into the room. “And I think you know just about everyone here.”
While the men had smiled and welcomed you, none of them extended the same courtesy to John. Steve and Sam looked like they wanted to punch him. Nick didn't even glance up from his phone to acknowledge him. Thor simply got himself another drink.
“I do.” John hiccuped. “‘Bout time you invited me up here.”
“Yeah, I guess it is about time.” The look on Bucky’s face gave you chills as he grabbed John’s arm and stopped him from sitting down. “Oh, no. You don’t need to sit. You won't be here long.”
“Is that right?”
“That is right.” The grip on John’s arm tightened enough to make him wince. “You see, I told Hal to give you free drinks until Ari came to get you. And the only reason I had you brought up here was so you could officially meet my girl before I have you kicked out.”
“Kick me out?! What the fuck are…” John had a noticeable twinge in his cheek as he spotted you. You wanted to cover yourself up even though you weren’t exposed. “That's your girl?”
“She’s my everything.” Bucky briefly looked away from John to gaze at you. “And from what I understand, you knocked her out of the way at the bar and made a rude comment. I’d like to know exactly what you said to her.”
Nick glanced up from his phone, more interested in the conversation now. All of the men were. That wasn't good. Not at all.
“Look, I may have bumped into her, but I don’t…” John cleared his throat as Bucky stared at him, underlying rage in his eyes. “I don’t recall mouthing off to her or anything.”
“Bucky, it’s fine,” you said. You told him that earlier. What was he doing?
“Kotyonok, do you remember what he said to you since John’s memory is so terrible?” Bucky asked, his gaze still fixed on the man in front of him who was starting to sweat. “It’s okay. You can tell us.”
The others stared at you expectantly. You shifted, not wanting to blurt out exactly what the guy said. Lying wouldn’t make it any better though. Bucky clearly knew what happened.
“See? Nothing happened,” John tried to dismiss you when you stayed silent. “How about a drink?”
Bucky pursed his lips in disdain. “How about I have Ari beat the words out of you instead?”
You gasped when Ari pushed himself off the wall, fear all over John’s face as he advanced. He looked like he was going to piss himself. “He called me an ugly undressed bitch,” you said loud enough to make Ari stop.
Something in the room shifted, the silence extended and uncomfortable as the men rose to their feet one by one. Thor made a show of cracking his knuckles after he winked at you. You had nothing to fear. They didn't want to hurt you. So why were you still trembling?
Steve slipped his jacket off and strode forward until he was beside his best friend. “You said that to her?”
John bravely or stupidly attempted to deflect. “The music is loud and-”
“You better shut your fucking mouth if you even think of calling her a liar. Not that I need anyone else’s word except for hers, but Hal also heard you. Even told you to apologize, which you chose to ignore. I can pull up the camera if you want to see the footage.” Bucky’s even tone had you trembling in your spot just like John. “You really have the nerve to come into my club and speak to my girl like that?”
John scrambled for words as he pointed at you. “I didn't… I mean, look at what she’s wearing! How was I supposed to know?”
“That should've been your first clue that she was special. Everyone else down there has to abide by a dress code, but not her. That’s how much power she has. And you tried to make her feel bad for that?” Bucky held a hand up when Ari stepped forward again. “No. I won't let that stand.”
“Bucky.” John swallowed when the rest of the men shifted to surround him. The only exception was Ray, who stood closest to you. “I…”
“Apologize to her,” he snarled. “Get on your fucking knees and say you’re sorry.”
“I’m sorry.” John glanced at the floor. “Don't make me get on my knees.”
“That’s enough! I don't want his apology anyway,” you spoke up. An empty apology from a jackass was meaningless. “I appreciate that you want him to say sorry, but I’d rather he just leave if that's okay. Please.”
Bucky let out a slow breath. “My girl has a kind heart.” He briefly took his eyes off John to offer you a soft smile before turning his attention back to him. “But I don't. You’re banned from my club. And by the end of the day tomorrow, you’ll be banned from just about everywhere in the city.”
John laughed, a broken, nervous sound. “This is a joke, right?”
Bucky cracked his neck. “I’ve never liked you. None of us do. We tolerated you, but I won't tolerate you insulting my girl.” He signaled for Ari to open the doors. “So you have two options. You can leave on your own and be permanently banned from this establishment. Or I can make you leave and you’ll be permanently banned from this establishment. Your choice.”
“You can't ban me for one comment! That's insane!”
“I consider it harassment,” Bucky corrected him. Ironic coming from him since he invaded your life. “I take it I'll have to make you leave?”
“You know what? Fuck you. This club sucks anyway.” John moved toward the door before he stopped to look back at you. “And you think you’re special since you're up here? You’re just an uptight bitch who-”
Bucky’s fist connected with John’s jaw before he could finish his insult and you could only shriek as he hit the wall and crumbled to the floor a heartbeat later. Steve hauled him to his feet by his collar before he could recover and punched him in the stomach hard enough that you flinched. Ray shielded your body as best as he could as everyone took turns punching him.
“Don't look,” he whispered.
“I don't know if I can do this,” you whispered back. You were trying to stay calm, but this…
“Yes, you can. Just breathe. In and out,” Ray urged. His face didn't give much away, but you sensed his relief when you took a few deep breaths. “There you go. And don't look.”
You didn't look. It still didn’t block out the sounds, fists connecting against skin and bones, and John’s pained groans. Nor did it stop you from shaking. It couldn't have lasted more than a minute, but it felt like a lifetime until the room went quiet again. Was it over?
“What did you guys do to him?!” You asked, loosening your hold on Ray’s arm. When did you grab him?
“We taught him a lesson.” Bucky flexed his fingers with a sigh. “I have an abundance of patience for you, it's less so with people who are disrespectful and vulgar with you.”
Ray still shielded you when you tried to look where John lay in a heap, but was careful not to touch you. “...Is he breathing?”
“He is and he's lucky for that,” Bucky replied, nudging him with his foot. “Looking strong, John.”
“About time we shut him up,” Nick said, plopping back down in his seat. “Should've banned him months ago.”
“No one deserves a beating more than John,” Steve said, gazing at you like a big brother who just beat up a schoolyard bully for picking on you. “And don't worry. He won’t speak to you like that again.”
“He won’t be speaking much at all after that,” Sam said, taking a drink from Thor’s outstretched hand. “No big loss there.”
“Ari, would you mind taking out the trash?” Bucky asked, tilting his head as he looked down at John. “And can you get the cleaners up here to do something about the blood on my carpet?”
“On it.” Ari effortlessly picked John up and put him over his shoulder as you tried to process what you witnessed. You were past processing any of it, your brain nearly broken from the stress.
In fact, the only one phased by the violence was you as everyone went about their business again. It made your head spin. That was all from a guy insulting you. What would they do if someone actually tried to do anything to you?
Ray stepped aside when Bucky made his way back to you, the anger gone from his eyes. “You’re shaking,” he whispered, pressing his lips against your forehead. “I'm sorry if that scared you.”
“Of course, it scared me! You all beat the hell out of him,” you scolded. On instinct, you grabbed his hand to check it. You had no idea why you wanted to make sure his hand was okay after everything. “None of you had to do that.”
“We don't like bullies,” Steve said as Bucky let you inspect his hand, your fingers gently brushing over his knuckles. “It was bad enough what he said, but he knocked you out the way, too, and didn't apologize. He deserved it.”
“Yeah, he did,” Bucky agreed, taking the opportunity to grip your hand before you could let him go.
“That was a bit much,” you said. It was overkill in your eyes. “I'm not worth beating someone up over.”
He met your gaze with a smile. “You’re worth more than I can ever give you. And he won't be bothering anyone in this club ever again.”
“You're really going to ban him?”
“Absolutely. I have a reputation to uphold. He's only going to mess that up if I let him stick around.”
“Ari isn't going to…” You weren’t sure what he would do to John since they were out of sight.
“You don’t need to worry about a thing.” Bucky moved his hand to your cheek. “I only wish I could hit him again for how he spoke about you.”
You rolled your lips between your teeth. Defending you that way was a lot, but a morbid part of you liked that he stood up for you. “Thank you, but no more hitting people in my name. I can't stand it if someone else was hurt because of me.”
“His actions got him hurt because he hurt you first. I know he did. And I said I’d step in if someone hurt or upset you.” His gaze dropped to your mouth when you bit your lip again. The insult did bother you, but it didn’t matter now. “You really do have a kind heart and you’re making it very difficult not to kiss you right now,” he added, brushing his thumb over your lips.
Goosebumps rolled over your skin at the touch, but you stepped back before he could push his thumb into your mouth. He was still dangerous. Still taking over your life. That was enough to wake you from any spell he tried to put you under. “You’re driving me crazy.”
“Just returning the favor.” He held up his hand again with a small smile. “You sure you don’t want to give it another look? A little kiss might make it feel better.”
You rolled your eyes. The man was utterly ridiculous. “I’m not kissing your hand, Bucky. We both know it’s fine.”
“One little kiss? Please?” He winced for show as he flexed his fingers again, but you wouldn't budge. “C’mon. You were worried about my hand enough to check it for damage.”
You shook your head. “I wasn't worried. I just wanted to make sure you didn't injure yourself because that would just be one more thing you’d hold over my head,” you deflected, glancing around to find everyone staring at you again with smiles on their faces at the exchange. “Thanks for defending me.”
“Nothing to thank us for,” Thor held his glass up to you.
Steve looked at the monitor that displayed the coat room. “We take care of our own.”
An alarm on Bucky’s phone went off before you could say anything else. “And look at that? It’s time to go.” The men groaned before he shut the alarm off. “I promised I’d have her home and I’m keeping that promise.”
Steve looked the most disappointed of all. “I barely got to talk to her,” he grumbled.
“Next time, okay? And the double date soon.” Bucky smiled at his friend.
“It was wonderful to meet you,” Thor said as Nick and Sam nodded in your direction. “And I hope to see you at my party next week. Everyone will be there.”
“Maybe,” you said, putting as much emphasis on the word as possible. How would you get out of that? And the double date?
“Okay, you’re all welcome to hang out, but we’re leaving,” Bucky said.
“Maybe I should find my own way home,” you said. Bucky didn’t just have his claws in you, his friends did, too. You needed a breather. Some wine. “I really don't mind getting a cab.”
“Not happening,” he whispered. It was worth a shot. “I need to make sure you get in bed safely.”
“In bed?” You repeated, almost laughing until you saw his serious expression. “You seriously don't expect me to invite you in, do you?”
“Yeah, I do,” he said, steering you toward the door as Ray followed. “Besides, who else is going to tuck you in?”
Was tucking you in going to be enough to satisfy him tonight or would he take it further?
You’d find out soon enough.

Charles' phone is halfway out of his pocket when it starts ringing. Glancing at the screen, he swipes to accept the call when he sees that it's from your mother. He had called her a few minutes ago, when the sight of your crash had first appeared on the screens in the Ferrari paddock, but she hadn’t picked up. Her voice filters through the speakers of his phone, worry tinging her tone.
“Do you have news yet?” she asks.
“Don’t know,” Charles replies, “I’m on my way to see her now. It… might be good to book a flight — and soon.” He doesn’t want to alarm your mom but it seems inevitable and he knows that you would want her next to you.
“Okay,” she breathes shakily, “and Charles?”
“Yeah?”
“She better be okay when I get there.”
Charles winces. Of all the people in the world, he knows all too well why you can never make any promises, especially in Formula 1.
“I’ll do my best,” he says and ends the call.
There’s a marshal waiting for him in the tiny waiting area in the medical center. He’s pacing nervously and immediately strides towards Charles as soon as he sees him.
“Mr. Leclerc,” he begins, “the doctors wanted to see you before they take any further action. You have medical power of attorney for Ms. L/N in case of emergency, correct?”
Charles nods numbly. It had been a precaution at the time because you had insisted that out of everyone in the paddock, you trusted him the most. He had accepted it without thinking twice but now the weight of the responsibility settles heavily over his shoulders. He follows the marshal past empty treatment rooms until they reach one with its door thrown open.
Charles feels his lunch crawling back up his throat as he stares at your figure. You’re laid out on a stretcher and you’d almost look peaceful if not for the numerous medical apparatuses connected to you and the thin trickle of dried blood on your temple. He somehow finds his voice again.
“What happened?” he asks, almost afraid to hear the answer.
A paramedic steps forward. “Ms. L/N took quite a knock in her crash, I’m afraid,” she explains gently. “Something came loose in the cockpit and hit her head. We’re not sure if there’s any further internal injuries, but our professional opinion is that she should be moved as soon as possible to a hospital for further testing.”
Charles swallows around a lump in his throat. “Is there any particular risk with transporting her in this state?”
The paramedic shakes her head. “No more than the usual, which is relatively low compared to the risk that we run by keeping her here without knowing if there’s anything else wrong.”
Charles follows your ambulance all the way into the hospital in a haze. He barely registers the press grouped outside the entrance, pushing through them, always keeping you in his sights. He waits outside of the examination room they bring you into and follows as they wheel you around, receiving god knows how many tests.
After a while members of your team start showing up, although they keep a respectful distance from Charles. He’s glad. He knows, rationally, that you were just unlucky, but the irrational and protective side of him is screaming at him to place the blame at someone’s feet. He knows you wouldn’t appreciate him blowing up at your team, though, so he doesn’t say anything to them and keeps vigil by your side as the doctors poke and prod.
Eventually you’re carefully placed in a hospital bed and Charles is pulled aside by what seems to be the main doctor assigned to you.
“Unfortunately, it seems as if we will have to operate on Ms. L/N,” he says gently. “Someone else will go over the details with you, but long story short she’s bleeding internally and it’s imperative that we get to it as soon as possible. Of course, any operation of this size could potentially be dangerous, but I strongly recommend taking action sooner rather than later.”
Charles shakes his head, the words not yet registering in his scattered mind. “Is she going to be okay?” he mumbles, not meeting the doctor’s eyes.
He can feel the doctor’s pitying gaze on him and Charles doesn’t have it in him to tell him that he’s been here before — not this specific hospital, no, but he’s been on this side of the conversation that they’re having already, and it tears his heart up just as much as the first time. The only difference this time is that he’s the one who has to make the choice, not anyone else.
“We can’t make any guarantees,” the doctor cautions, “but it would significantly raise her chances of survival if we act now.”
Charles winces at the doctor’s words. Survival. Drive to survive, surviving to drive, the irony of the situation isn’t lost on him. He uncurls his fingers gingerly from where he had been unconsciously gripping his pants.
He wants to avoid the decisions he knows he will have to make in the next twenty-four hours. He wants to pretend that nothing happened, that you’re still on the track, passing everyone in your way. He wants to go back to this morning, when he had kissed you goodbye before jogging off to get ready for the race. He wishes he had taken time to do more than peck you and throw a “love you!” over his shoulder. Charles wants to hide from the cold, stark reality he’s faced with. Your life lies in his hands and Charles is so, so tired of bleak hospital hallways.
He wants to scream at the heavens. He’s suffered and given so much already. Is one shred of happiness too much to ask? Charles had known the risks going in when he started dating you — one Formula 1 driver was usually more than enough jeopardy in a relationship, let alone two — but he’d never really thought that the day would arrive where he would have to make decisions about you, without you.
Charles stares at your face through the window to your room, tracing the curves and slopes with his eyes. It’s the face he wakes up next to almost every day and he curses himself for not cherishing the time he’s already had with you more. His brain is moving a mile a minute, running through all the possible outcomes. At the end of the day, though, he’s only got one choice.
Charles Leclerc has always been selfish and he’ll be damned if he lets another person he loves slip through his fingers.
“Where do I sign?”

Yandere self-aware Harwin Strongs—a tragedy of self-indulgent lust
Yandere Show Harwin Strong incredibly distraught that he is only in a few scenes. He is madly in love with Rhaenyra, but he is also enamored with just a glance of you. Why does he have to die? Why did these 'writers' get rid of him so soon? He is going to miss so much with his children. He is going to miss all of these sweet moments with his princess, his Nyra.
Rhaenyra is his, and he is yours.
Yandere Book Harwin Strong, who knows that he has an advantage against the show version of him. He has more time to impress darling and just admire them. He may be busy, but he can't help it. He wants to abandon everything just to stare at you for hours on end. The gods should not have given him this curse. You are so close, and yet you will always be so far away from him.
Yandere Show Harwin Strong is willing to destroy himself for you. He doesn't follow the plot. He isn't as calculated. He's more sloppy, and he has to keep it together. It's like someone keeps ripping his heart and soul out. He has to act as if his kids aren't his. He can't freely love. He can't even touch you. He doesn't know what you smell like.
He isn't as savvy with hopping through digital planes, so he is just stuck.
Please don't get bored of him.
He'll turn violent and may kill someone—multiple people—many people.
Yandere Book Harwin Strong bidding his time. He skips ahead and reads what is supposed to happen and then tries to manipulate it. He loves watching your dumbfounded face. Oh? Did you not expect that to happen? It's always been canon. At least in the copy of Fire & Blood you have on your shelf.
Both are willing to work together. They are more cohesive than other self-aware books and show asoiaf yanderes. They realize that each of their positions has strengths and weaknesses. They will play nice with each other for now. They can at least try to share. That would just make it harder for you to leave them, correct?
Both realize that the people around them wouldn't believe them. They try to find more information on this phenomenon. They need to bring you into their worlds somehow. They need to share one plane of existence. There's so much you need to be taught! You'd be perfect with their children. You could simply love Rhaenyra as well, and then all three of you would be happy together. Sure, she isn't self-aware, but they can make up excuses. You're just a divine being their lives were blessed with.

Do I Look Like Him
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“You look so much like him, and it’s almost cruel. I keep hoping that somehow, you’ll turn into the man I loved, but you never do. You’re just… you.."
A/N: First part of my Do I Look Like Him series. Sorry this is so rushed pookies but I swear the next part will be better
Logan Howlett x Afab!Reader
Word Count: 3.1k
Warnings: none I think, maybe logan is OOC
NOT PROOFREAD.
Logan stepped through the door of Wade's apartment. The air inside was thick with the scent of stale pizza and something that might have once been a burrito.  He hesitated for a moment, the noise from the TV filling the silence—some superhero flick, loud and chaotic. The place was a mess, as expected, but it was oddly comforting.
He’d been through hell and back in his own universe, but this? This was something else entirely. The walls were plastered with posters of himself—no, not himself, but Wolverine. The absurdity of it made him grit his teeth. This wasn’t his world, and yet, here he was, dragged into a mess that wasn’t his to clean.
Wade had a knack for trouble, and Logan had been foolish enough to follow him into it. After their recent escapades—fighting off some half-baked villains and dealing with Wade’s incessant chatter—Logan felt the dull throb of a headache creeping in. He needed a drink. Or ten.
He rubbed the back of his neck, feeling the tension knotting there. His world had turned upside down, and it had only been a few days since he found himself in this bizarre universe.
“Hey, peanut! You’re late!” Wade’s voice rang out, full of that irritating cheerfulness that grated on Logan’s nerves. Logan glanced up, catching sight of Wade lounging on the couch, a bowl of popcorn in his lap, his mask pulled up just enough to reveal that crooked grin.
“Didn’t realize I was on a schedule,” Logan muttered, his tone heavy with annoyance. He didn’t need this. Not now. Not after everything that had happened back home.
“Yeah, well, you missed the best part! They just killed off a major character!” Wade’s eyes sparkled with mischief. “You know how it goes—death, resurrection, all that jazz. Just like you!”
Logan rolled his eyes. “You’re not helping, Wade.”
“Aw, come on!” Wade jumped up, tossing the popcorn aside. “You’re in a new universe! Live a little! Have some fun! Get laid!” He winked, and Logan rolled his eyes at the thought.
Logan didn’t respond. Instead, he moved deeper into the cluttered apartment, scanning the area for something—anything—that would give him a moment of reprieve from Wade’s relentless energy. That’s when he noticed a photo frame atop a pile of comic books. A picture of a woman smiled back at him, hugging a man who looked like him, but more aged.
His heart sank.
“Who’s that?” Logan asked, trying to appear uninterested.
“Oh, that’s your girl! Well, sort of,” Wade replied, his tone shifting slightly. “She’s also my sister. Well, half.. Anyway, she’s amazing!”
Logan’s fists clenched at his sides. “What do you mean, my girl? I don’t—”
“Right! Sorry! I forgot! You’re from a different universe! It’s confusing, I know.” Wade smirked, clearly enjoying the chaos of it all. “But trust me, she’s the best. I mean, if you’re into that whole ‘living’ thing. You are, right?”
“Where is she?” Logan asked, keeping his voice steady.
“She’s around here somewhere. Probably avoiding you,” Wade chuckled, but there was a hint of sincerity in his tone. “She’s been a bit… skittish since you showed up. Can’t blame her, though. You know how it is with family drama.”
Before he could respond, the sound of footsteps echoed from a hallway, and Logan’s breath caught in his throat. You appeared, your presence radiating an energy that was both familiar and foreign.
“Wade, I—” you began, your voice faltering as your eyes landed on Logan..
“Look who I found! It’s Logan!” Wade announced, clearly oblivious to the charged atmosphere that had enveloped the room.
Your expression shifted, confusion and recognition battling for dominance. “No, that- that isn’t him. That’s not Logan.” You said, your voice trembling slightly as hot tears began to well in your eyes at the sight of this stranger wearing Logan’s face.
“Well, technically-” Wade began to explain, but you stormed back down the hall, slamming the door to your room. After a moment of silence, “Well, that went well!” “Shut the hell up, Wade.” —-----------------------------------------------------
The days slipped by in a blur of muted colors and half-formed conversations. Logan found himself wandering the apartment, the walls echoing with the laughter and chaos of Wade’s universe. You avoid him like the plague, slipping through the apartment like a ghost. It was as if you had cast a spell of invisibility around yourself, one that Logan was helpless to penetrate.
Wade, ever the optimist, tried to coax you down for meals, suggesting movie nights, or even just a simple game of cards. But you never came down. Instead, you found excuses to stay away, disappearing into the city, leaving Logan alone with his thoughts. Each time you left, he felt the weight of her absence like a physical blow.
He tried to give you space, respecting your need to process everything, but it gnawed at him. The ache in his chest grew heavier with each passing day. He was a man used to fighting battles, but this was a different kind of warfare—one fought in silence and solitude. He doesn’t know why it bugs him so much. It shouldn’t. He doesn’t know you. It’s probably just sympathy. Right?
When you did venture down, it was always under the cover of darkness, as if you feared the light would expose your vulnerabilities. Logan would catch glimpses of you, a fleeting shadow slipping past the kitchen door, or the sound of your laughter echoing from somewhere beyond his reach. Each time, his heart would leap, only to plummet when you vanished again.
One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in shades of fiery orange and deepening blue, you finally emerged. Logan had been sitting on the couch, his mind a chaotic swirl of thoughts, when he heard the soft creak of the floorboards. He looked up, his breath catching in his throat as he saw you standing in the doorway, a hesitant silhouette against the dim light of the hallway.
“Hey,” he said, trying to keep his voice steady despite the sudden rush of emotions.
“Hey,” you replied, your eyes darting away, avoiding his gaze. There was a tension in the air, thick and palpable, as if they were two strangers in a crowded room. Which, the first part isn’t entirely wrong.
Logan took a breath, willing himself to be patient. “I was thinking about ordering some food. Want to join?”
“I… I can’t,” you stammered, yout voice barely above a whisper. “I have plans.”
Disappointment washed over him, but he forced a nod. “Alright. Maybe another time?”
“Maybe,” you said, your eyes lingering on him for just a moment before you turned to leave.
“Wait,” he called out, desperation creeping into his voice. “Can we just talk for a minute? Please?”
You hesitated, your hand hovering over the door frame as if caught in a battle between flight and fight. Finally, you sighed and stepped back into the room, though your body language screamed of discomfort.
“What do you want to talk about?” you asked, folding your arms tightly across your chest.
Logan searched for the right words, the ones that could bridge the chasm between them. “I just… I don’t want you to feel like you have to avoid me. I know this is hard for you.”
“It’s not just hard,” you shot back, your voice rising with hurt. “It’s impossible. You look like him, you sound like him, but you’re not him!”
“I know I’m not,” Logan said, his tone earnest. “I’m not him and I never will be. You need to accept that he’s gone.”
You looked away, your expression twisting with pain. “I don’t know how to do that.”
“I understand. Just take it one step at a time.”
“Like you’re doing?” you asked, your voice laced with sarcasm.
Logan winced. “Touché. I’m just trying to be honest.”
The silence that followed felt heavy, a dense fog of unspoken words and unresolved emotions. He watched you, noting the way your fingers fidgeted, the way your eyes glistened as you fought against the tide of your feelings.
“Okay,” you said finally, your voice softer. “I’ll try.”
“Thank you,” he replied, relief flooding through him. “That’s all I can ask.”
But just as hope began to take root, you turned to leave again. “I really can’t stay, Logan. I have to go.”
“Wait!” he called out again, his frustration bubbling to the surface. “What are you doing out there? What’s out there that’s better than being here?”
You paused, your back to him, and for a moment, he thought you might turn around. “It’s not about what’s out there. It’s about what’s in here,” you said.
With that, you slipped out of the room, leaving Logan alone once more, a hollow ache gnawing at his insides.
—-----------------------------------------------------
Days turned into weeks, and the pattern continued. You would occasionally come down, but their conversations remained brief, filled with awkward silences and unfulfilled glances. Every time you spoke to him, it was a delicate dance—one misstep, and you would retreat again, leaving him with nothing but the echoes of your presence.
One afternoon, as the sun cast a warm glow through the apartment, you wandered into the kitchen while Logan was cleaning up after lunch. He caught sight of you out of the corner of his eye, and hope fluttered in his chest.
“Hey,” he said, looking up.
“Hey,” you replied, your voice soft but guarded. You moved to the fridge, rummaging through it as if searching for something to distract yourself.
“You want a sandwich?” he offered. “I made some earlier.”
“No, I’m fine,” you said too quickly, closing the fridge door with a soft thud.
Logan felt the familiar pang of disappointment. “You sure? It’s really good.”
“I believe you,” you responded, her tone clipped.
They fell into an uneasy silence, the air thick with words left unspoken. Logan watched her, the way you fidgeted with your hair, the way your gaze darted around the room, avoiding him.
“Do you ever think about him?” he asked suddenly, the question slipping from his lips before he could stop it.
Your body stiffened, and for a moment, he thought you might walk away again. Instead, you turned to face him, your eyes glistening with emotion. “All the time,”you admitted, her voice barely above a whisper.
“What do you remember?” Logan asked, leaning against the counter, trying to keep his voice casual. But inside, he felt like he was walking on a tightrope, balancing on the edge of your memories.
“Everything,” you replied, your eyes shimmering as if lost in a distant past. “The way he would hold me when I was scared. The stupid jokes he made to lighten the mood. The way he fought for me.”
Logan swallowed hard, the sting of your words cutting deep. “I’m not him,” he reminded her, his voice low.
“I know,” you said, frustration breaking through your sadness. “But it’s hard to separate the two of you. You’re so similar, and yet… you’re not.”
“I’m trying to be someone you can lean on,” he said, his heart aching with the weight of her pain. “But I can’t do that if you keep pushing me away.”
Your eyes flashed with anger. “You think you can just step in and fill that void? Be the one who makes everything better? It doesn’t work that way, Logan!”
“I’m not trying to replace him,” he countered, his voice rising in defense. “I just want to be here for you. Just give me a chance!”
You sighed, the fight draining from you. “I don’t know how. I don’t know if I can.”
“Then let’s start small,” Logan suggested, his tone softening. “Just talk to me. About anything. About your day. About anything but him.”
For a moment, your gaze dropped, and he could see the struggle within you. “Okay,” you finally said, your voice trembling slightly. “I can try that.”
“Good,” he replied, relief flooding through him once more. “What did you do today?”
You hesitated, then shrugged. “I walked around the city.”
“Did you find anything interesting?”
You looked away, a faint heat creeping into your cheeks. “I found a little café. It had the best pastries. I thought about bringing some back, but…”
“But?”
“It felt wrong,” you murmured, your voice barely a whisper. “Like I was trying to pretend everything was okay when it’s not.”
Logan’s heart ached for you. “You can still enjoy things. It doesn’t mean you’re forgetting him. It just means you’re living.” He said, more to himself than you.
“I don’t want to live without him,” you admitted, yourr voice breaking. “I don’t know how to do that.”
“Maybe we can figure it out together,” he offered, stepping closer, his heart racing. “I may not be him, but I’m still here. And I care about you.”
You met his gaze, and for a fleeting moment, he thought he saw a flicker of understanding in your eyes. “I care about you too,” you said softly, though doubt lingered in her tone.
As you turned to leave, Logan felt a glimmer of hope that they had taken a small step forward. But just as quickly, it faded when you absentmindedly kissed his cheek.
“I’m sorry,” you said, pulling away as if burned. “I didn’t mean to—”
“It’s okay,” he reassured you, though his heart sank at the distance that still lay between them. “You don’t have to apologize.”
But you shook your head, your expression filled with anguish. “No, it’s not okay. I shouldn’t have done that. I can’t keep doing this.”
“Doing what?” he pressed, confusion lacing his words.
“Trying to act like you’re someone you’re not,” you said, your voice rising again. “I’m sorry, Logan. I need to go.”
And with that, you were gone again, the door clicking shut behind you, leaving Logan standing alone in the kitchen, the echo of your footsteps lingering in the silence.
—-----------------------------------------------------
It was late, the hour when the world outside felt most distant, and in that stillness, you crept into the living room. The soft click of the door was nearly soundless, a careful intrusion into the quiet space. You paused for a moment, your heart racing as you took in the sight of him resting on the couch, his face softened in sleep, the lines of worry momentarily smoothed away.
Your breath caught in your throat, and you felt a pang of longing that twisted your insides. He looked so peaceful, so much like the Logan you remembered—the one who had held you tight during the darkest moments, who had whispered promises of safety and love in the shadows of your world.
You hesitated, fighting against the urge to turn away, to retreat into the safety of your solitude. But something drew you closer, a magnetic pull that you couldn’t resist. You lowered yourself to the floor beside the couch, tucking your legs beneath yourself as you settled into the familiar space. It felt almost like a ritual, a silent communion with the man you had lost and the man who was now before you.
Tentatively, you reached out, your fingers brushing against his cheek. The contact sent a jolt of electricity coursing through you, and you closed your eyes for a brief moment, savoring the warmth of his skin beneath your touch. It was a simple gesture, but it felt monumental—a connection that transcended the chasm of their reality.
“Logan,” you whispered, your voice barely audible. “I miss you.”
You traced the contours of his face, your fingers brushing over the rugged lines, the bump of his nose that felt so familiar yet foreign. “I wish you were here,” you murmured, your heart aching with every word. “Things were so much easier when you were here. You made everything better.”
As you spoke, memories flooded back—laughter shared under the stars, quiet moments stolen amidst chaos. You recalled how he had held you close, how his presence had been a balm for your troubled soul. The tears you had fought to hold back began to spill over, trailing down your cheeks as you continued to whisper to him, unaware of the ears that listened.
“Do you remember that night?” you asked, your voice trembling. “The one we spent at the old cabin? Just you and me, the fire crackling, the world falling away?” A soft smile broke through your tears. “You told me you loved me for the first time. I never understood how much I needed that until you were gone.”
Your fingers lingered on his lips, tracing the outline as if committing every detail to memory. “I wish you could come back to me,” you whispered. “I wish you could tell me everything would be okay. That we could go back to the way things were.”
You continued to speak, your words pouring out like a dam breaking. “I don’t know how to move on without you. It feels like I’m wandering through a fog, and I can’t find my way back. I keep seeing your face everywhere, and it hurts too much.”
Your voice cracked, and the sobs you had held at bay began to spill forth, raw and unfiltered. “I thought I could just push through it, but every time I see him…” you choked out, “I feel like I’m drowning all over again.”
“I don’t know how to face you,” you continued, her voice a whisper now. “You look so much like him, and it’s almost cruel. I keep hoping that somehow, you’ll turn into the man I loved, but you never do. You’re just… you.”
Eventually, you sat back, your hands falling to your lap as you took a shaky breath. “I just wish you could hear me,” you said softly, your voice cracking. “I wish you could know how much I still love you.”
With that, you stood up, the weight of your emotions visibly heavy on her shoulders. You looked at him one more time, before walking back to your room.
Logan lay there, his heart pounding in his chest, caught in a whirlwind of emotions. He had been awake the entire time, drawn from the depths of sleep by the sound of your voice, the weight of your touch grounding him in a reality he had longed for since he had arrived in this universe. He had wanted to reach out, to pull you into his arms, but he remained still, terrified of shattering the fragile moment.
He blew out a breath he hadn’t realized he’d been holding. How would he face you tomorrow after that?
God help him.

Masen is not an incredibly common last name
So when the Cullens show up to a new school and he sees you, reddish hair and defined jawline with his last name, he gets a bit suspicious
He starts combing through every newspaper article and obituary he could
He eventually traces you back to his mother’s cousin
He has no clue what to do with this information
Eventually, he gets closer to you, helping you with school stuff, inviting you over to the Cullen house
After a while, he tells you about how you’re related
Which also means telling you about vampires
You take it all surprisingly well
Your family never knew what happened to Edward
The story had always been that him and his mother had died in the hospital but his body had gotten lost somewhere in the process
You’re also so happy to find another living” relative
Y’all become best buddies
He’s happy to find out that you also love to play the piano
Family bonding ❤️
Tumblr media
Alice:
Her name was originally Mary Alice Brandon
So it’s not like a super uncommon last name
She’s met people with the same last name as her before
But none of them looked so similar to her as you did
The small stature, dark brown hair, and striking similarity to her personality
She had seen a vision of you not too long ago
It was nothing special, just you and Alice going out shopping and hanging out
She didn’t know who you were at the time or what your significance was, but now she’s sure that you have to be related somehow
She talked to you for a bit, pretending to just want to make small talk
Eventually, you got to the part of your family tree where your great-great-great grandma was Alice’s sister, Cynthia
You, again, had heard stories about your great-great-grandma’s sister who went crazy and eventually died
And here she was, right in front of you, definitely not crazy
You two became inseparable
Going shopping together, watching movies, going to every class together, everything
Alice is so happy to finally have a piece of her family
She’s always been so upset that she can’t remember any of her human life
Being around you makes her feel more connected to that part of herself that she can’t remember
Tumblr media
Jasper:
His name is definitely one of the most original ones
Jasper Whitlock (no middle name mentioned sorry yall)
He has never, in his almost 200 years of living, ever met someone with the same last name as him
So he’s already a little sus when he hears your name
And then of course the blonde hair and the piercing (scary) eyes, the resemblance is uncanny
He’s more hesitant to talk to you at first
He does all of his research online
He starts with his younger sister, and from there he follows her bloodline and finds you at the very end
He also sees that everyone else in your family is dead
Your parents died not too long ago, and you’re living with some family friends now
He feels really bad, so even though he knows he shouldn’t, he starts to get closer to you
You start to get your own suspicions when you start to notice how similar he is to you, too
The more quiet, reserved personality
The love for Alice
Alice ends up being the one to tell you that you guys are actually related
You’re so happy to have someone from your family again, even if he is your great-great-great-great-great granduncle
Your favorite thing to do with Jasper is just to sort of coexist
He sits on the couch reading a book and you sit on the other side crocheting while a movie plays
Tumblr media
Rosalie:
Her name was originally Rosalie Lillian Hale
She’s one of the few who kept her last name while pretending to be human
She might have met a couple of people with the same last name as her
But to be honest she does not pay attention to the humans at the school
She’s not too fond of them anyway so why would she care
But one day she passively noticed the sub teacher call your name during attendance
And then she really looked at you
Blonde hair, strikingly good looks, beauty mark, and a constantly annoyed look on your face
Instantly, you reminded her of one of her little brothers, and when she got home that night she did some digging
She hadn’t thought about her family in so long, it was very bittersweet for her to look back through all of the obituaries, marriage licenses, birth certificates, everything
Everything she was supposed to be a part of
But now you’re here, and she wants to get to know you
Instantly, she takes on the older sister role for you
You two hit it off instantly
Bonding quickly over your hate for stupid people and your love for cars
She asks you so many questions about your family, what everyone was like, how everyone died
She’s so sad that she didn’t keep up to date with any of this stuff
But of course, before the internet it was really difficult to
When she learns that the rest of your family is dead, she begs Carlisle to take you in
She feels such a maternal instinct for you, even if you’re the “same age”
She wants you to be safe
And she wants you near her
You’re family after all, and that’s all she’s ever wanted
Tumblr media
Emmett:
His name was Emmett McCarty
Again, not a super common one but not like super uncommon either
He has never noticed if anyone else had the same last name as him
And he didn’t even really notice you either
Rosalie was the one who pointed you out, and that’s when he saw the similarities
Same last name, dimples, dark brown reddish hair, super tall
He just approached you straight up
“Hey. McCarty was my last name before Dr Cullen adopted me and we look pretty similar, who’s your dad?”
Just super blunt about it
He’s curious, so why would he beat around the bush?
Together, you two trace your family tree back to one of Emmett’s younger brothers
And of course, he has to drop the news that he’s a vampire then
You two are attached at the hip after that though
You both love to go outside and run around, he loves to play wrestle with you
You’re like having one of his siblings back
It’s nice for him
Canonically, he watched over his family for a while after he was turned and asked Carlisle to drop some money off for them
So he obviously cared about them a lot
So he’s happy to have a piece of them back
He’s not happy that the rest of your family is dead, though
He is moving you into the Cullen house instantly
You’re his family, family watches out for each other
No way he’s letting you live in a foster home or orphanage
Tumblr media
Esme:
Her name was Esme Anne Platt
Another one that’s pretty uncommon
But when she first sees you, he mind doesn’t immediately go to you maybe being related to her
She sees the similarities, the dark brown hair, the nose shape, the face shape
But she doesn’t necessarily connect it
After all, she didn’t have any siblings or any kids, so realistically her blood should have ended with her
But after a while of getting to know you, the similarities just become too much
She ends up looking into her father’s side of the family and finds that he had a brother she had never met
And of course, it traced back to you
Making her your seventh cousin or something
She doesn’t know what to do with this information
Similar to Rosalie, she’s always wanted a family
She was never able to have that, and as far as she knew, the rest of her family died a long time ago
She’s stuck between wanting to be close to you, to tell you the truth, but also not wanting to put you in danger
She remembers all too well the danger that Bella was in just because she was close to the Cullens
The idea of putting her own flesh and blood in danger scares her
I feel like it would have to be extreme circumstances for her to do anything
Maybe the foster family you’re staying with is pretty abusive or you’re about to die or something
Only then would she tell you
Selfishly, she wants to turn you
She loves you so much, you’re like a sibling or niece/nephew to her, she just wants you to be safe
And she can’t imagine living without you anymore
Tumblr media
Carlisle:
His name is just Carlisle Cullen
Keeping it simple
Cullen is not a very common last name, but at the same time, he’s been so many places and met so many people
The chances are pretty high that he’s met someone with the same last name as him
But he can instantly tell there’s something different about you
Blonde hair, blue eyes, square jaw, and affinity for helping people
Not to mention that you remind him so much of his aunt on his father’s side
It’s easy for him to do the research into your past
He’s pretty good with that kind of stuff
He does end up tracing you back to that aunt, and he’s so happy
He never had any siblings (that we know of), his mother died during childbirth, and his father would have been more than ready to kill him
So he never got to feel very close to his family
He sees you as an opportunity to do that
He doesn’t tell you outright who he is to you
He prefers to just hang out with you
Showing you around the clinic, taking you into town, giving you life lessons that your father might have not done
I can see him taking on a fatherly role for you
He would be perfectly content with never telling you
The only time he would would be if you were on the verge of death and he turned you
He would be secretly so happy
He has come to love you over the months/years since he’s known you
You are his family, flesh and blood, and he doesn’t want to leave you
Yippee for family
Tumblr media
Vampire! Bella:
Isabella Marie Swan
Talk about a weird last name
She’s never met anyone else with it
Admittedly, she hasn’t been around for too long, but still
So she’s shocked when she sees you for the first time, dark brown hair, brown eyes, perpetual look of discomfort
She almost doesn’t believe it
But then she does the mental gymnastics
Charlie’s brother who died forever ago, his kids, you’re probably one of their kids
Making her your second cousin
The smallest age gap here tbh
Nice change of pace
She also doesn’t know what to do now
She’s socially awkward enough as is
She can’t even begin to think of how to approach you with this
“Hey, did you have a grandpa who died before you were born in a motorcycle accident? Cause if so then I’m your cousin!”
Like yeah no she’ll pass
She can’t stay away from you for too long though
You guys are so similar
Similar tastes, dislikes, personalities, senses of humor
She loves hanging out with you
She doesn’t want to tell you about her being a vampire or about her relation to you, but eventually it just comes out
Oops
Oh well
She’s not mad about it
Now she can spend forever with you

Tumblr media
Life with three chaotic good villains was… interesting.
You didn’t necessarily live with J and Tara; they had their own apartment at this point in time. It had been a decision made after you had officially asked Sam to move in with you. Honestly, it had seemed like a silent relief to both sisters that they didn’t have to tell the other to leave, instead creating a mutual, respectful decision between them.
That did not, however, stop them from coming over to yours and Sam’s at all hours, day or night.
Most of the time they came over for food. Which, to you, was rather ironic considering you were the only one out of the bunch who, on most occasions, couldn’t cook. You were under the sneaking suspicion they simply did it to be close to Sam again. It was understandable. Neither of them could bear to tell her that they missed her. That was something you had picked up on fairly quickly in your relationship.
The other times they came over, however… those were rather interesting. And Sam was not exempt.
“Not in the apartment,” you called out the moment you heard the door open.
“It wasn’t in the apartment,” Tara said with a huff. You knew it was her way of showing she cared.
“It was across the street,” Sam finished, followed quickly by the door clicking shut.
You sighed but quickly went back to your lesson plan. By all accounts, they were correct. It wasn’t in the apartment. And you would give them a little more; they weren’t on the premises either (another new rule you had enacted over the past few months). They were following rules.
Barely. But they were.
There was shuffling behind you - a sound you had unfortunately grown accustomed to - before someone sat down beside you. That was also something you were used to, and Sam’s head quickly fell to rest on your shoulder. Her breathing was even. You placed an awkward, sideways kiss on the top of her head.
“Did they match the criteria?” You asked. You underlined something on your lesson plan.
“Yes,” Sam said. “They matched.”
“She was creeping on some kid,” Tara chimed in from the kitchen. “And no, she wasn’t the mom.”
“Priors?” You asked.
“Stalking and domestic battery,” Sam answered.
“Which is on the list!” Tara called out.
Yes, you supposed they were. And they would know what was on the list; you had given all three of them laminated copies of what criteria could somehow justify their actions. Not that you condoned them, it still gave you the creeps, but if they were going to do it then they were going to be responsible. You weren’t going to be a jail bunny, or whatever they called those people.
Even with them following the rules that you continued to add to, you weren’t comfortable with the fact that they were killing people. Even the most awful people deserved a chance to live, did they not? Capital punishment had never been something you supported, and this was simply an individualistic version of it.
But Sam was pretty, and you loved her, and that alone could trump your personal beliefs.
“There’s no blood on my floor, correct?” You asked.
Sam tensed up against you and lifted her head. The noises in the kitchen ceased. You kept your nose buried in your books out of some sort of silent respect. When Sam stood up, you got your answer. You would give them some time to clean up; sometimes accidents happen.
God, you were starting to feel like your mother.
“There’s no blood on your floor,” Sam said when she finally sat beside you. After having cleaned the floor.
You smiled to yourself before straightening up and looking at her. “Thank you,” you said softly, leaning in for a light kiss on her lips.
The lesson plan was the least of your worries for the evening. Sure, it was almost time for finals, and graduation was in two weeks, but your mind was preoccupied. How long had it been since you had spent any significant time with Sam alone? To the best of your knowledge, it had been at least since you had discovered their… secret.
You could vaguely hear Sam and Tara talking, but you were still staring aimlessly at your books. When had Tara and J done something together last? Not including killing, of course, you knew they did that all the time. But a weekend getaway, or an actual vacation. Had they ever gone on a vacation together? You and Sam surely hadn’t yet.
A-ha! That was it!
It was only a few days later that you talked with J and told them your plan. They practically jumped at the idea. After all, why wouldn’t they? It would give them alone time with Tara - away from New York City - and it would give you alone time with Sam. It only took one evening of planning before everything was set, and all you had to do was tell your respective girlfriends. Easy enough, right?
Oh, how naive you were.
“It’s just for one week,” you practically whined as you followed Sam through rush hour traffic. “Surely that couldn’t hurt.”
“I’m not just leaving Tara alone for a week,” she said without turning around. “Not since the attacks.”
“Darling, you cause the attacks now,” you said. “And so does Tara, and J, and I truly believe they’ll be alright without us.”
You reached out and pulled Sam closer when a car rushed by, splashing water where she had just been standing.
“I trust them,” she said. An exhale. “I mostly trust them.”
“Then where is your concern?” You asked. “Where is your hesitation?”
Sam didn’t say anything. She kept looking out at the street even as you pulled her a little closer, again, to the wall behind you. People continued to mill around and you didn’t want her to get run over, or worse, cussed out. You were aware of how volatile she could get when she was already stuck in her own mind. The last thing anyone needed was for her to lose her temper at some poor passerby who just wanted to keep walking unobstructed.
“I don’t trust other people,” she said, finally turning back to look at you. “They’ve both been attacked, what if it happens again?” She chewed on her bottom lip. “I won’t be there to help.”
You slid your hand down her arm to lock your fingers together. “My love,” you said. You waited until she looked up at you. “Tara is cold-blooded and calculated.” She smiled. “J is from a long line of criminals.” A laugh. “I believe they will be just fine.”
Her smile eased from laughter to something softer. There was a light spark in her eyes, something you only saw when, surprise, she wasn’t worried about Tara. And even though she would never admit it, she worried about J as well. They argued like siblings incessantly, but they cared about each other in their own way. It was almost sweet.
“Okay,” she finally said, leaning up to press a soft kiss to your lips. She tasted of smoke. “One week won’t hurt.”
—---
You were questioning every decision you had made to lead to where you currently were.
If you had known that Samantha Carpenter, who had packed up her life and left on her own at 18, was a horrible road trip partner? You would have gone to Paris with Tara and J. It would have been the same time, give or take, but at least the ride would have been more luxurious.
But no, Samantha Carpenter, a literal Slasher icon, wasn’t a fan of road trips.
Sam sighed, and your grip on the steering wheel tightened.
“My dear,” you said, “we really haven’t got much longer.”
Though your eyes were focused on the road, you heard her shift. “Do you think they’re okay?”
“Yes,” you said quickly, “they’re alright.” Your tone was indicative of just how often you had said that sentence in the past six hours.
“Do I have a problem?” She asked. “Am I overprotective?”
“Yes,” you said. A car passed going far too fast. “You’re overprotective.”
“I need to relax, don’t I?”
You unclenched your jaw and loosened your grip. She was trying. Letting go of the reins wasn’t really something she was adept at. Now, you could understand, your mother was the same way. Not… quite to the same degree as Sam… but it was comparative. You knew, realistically, she wished to relax and enjoy the week. She just needed a moment to decompress and accept that she was allowed to relax.
“Everything will be alright, love,” you said. “They will be fine, and you will be able to relax.” You turned your head to meet her eyes. “I promise.”
She smiled at you and reached over to place her hand on your upper thigh before looking back out her window. Her fingers scratched lightly against your inner thigh. It wasn’t scandalous or risque. At best, it was a comforting touch; she often did it on your arm.
That didn’t appear to matter to your body, which was very much working itself up as she continued her innocent gestures.
You could act on these feelings once you arrived. There would be no fear of anyone walking in on you and interrupting the moment. Wait, that would be wonderful. You could act on those feelings twice! In one night! Just the thought had you shifting in the driver’s seat and ignoring the slight look Sam gave you.
By the time you pulled up to the campgrounds, you were thoroughly wrecked. The very thought of having genuine alone time with Sam was all-encompassing, and you were starting to thoroughly question if you needed to go into town to grab a few things for your stay. This was turning into the best decision you had ever made in your life!
“I’ll stretch my legs while you talk, if you don’t mind,” Sam said once you were both out of the car.
“Of course,” you said as you gave her a quick kiss. “I’ll be back in a moment.”
The small cabin at the front of the park was cute; you didn’t much like the taxidermied deer heads on the wall, but you could look past it. It was homey, and you felt pretty safe considering you were practically in the middle of Nowhere Maine. There were lovely little couches, a beautiful oak end table, and the employee desk looked to be… mahogany? Perhaps?
“You ready to get your keys, camper?” The too-cheery employee asked. It was over the top and slightly grating, but you could appreciate the faux excitement.
He led you to the desk and got to work handing you the keys to the cabin you had rented. It wasn’t supposed to be anything extravagant, more like a place where you could both rest, relax, and enjoy the scenery. A lovely little firepit outside, a hammock, a supplied cast iron skillet. You were in your element.
You hoped Sam liked it too. Surely she would. Hopefully.
“Ready?” You asked as you walked back to the car.
Sam was leaning against the car with a half-finished cigarette resting between her lips. Smoking was a horrid habit; it stunk, it clung to clothes, and it was bad for your health. But you couldn’t deny she looked extremely sexy while she did it. The way her lips moved…
You needed to get her into the cabin. Quickly.
She smiled her beautiful smile. “Ready.” She took one more large inhale of the cigarette before putting it out on the bottom of her boot.
You were feeling very uncomfortable as you opened the door for her and practically raced to the other side. The cabin couldn’t be too far away, the park wasn’t exactly that big. And you were right. The trip only took another 10 minutes before you pulled up to the adorable little cabin.
And it was rather adorable.
It only took a few moments to get the bags from the back and get into the cabin. The inside was just as adorable as you had imagined, and judging by the near-instant relaxation of Sam’s shoulders, she agreed. Internally, you cheered. Hopefully, she could stay relaxed for the week. It was no less than she deserved, and she had more than earned it.
You practically demanded she take the time to sit, walk outside, relax a bit while you made dinner. It wasn’t anything fancy - you may not know how to cook real meals, but you knew how to camp - but it was nice. Something you could finish in only a few minutes that wouldn’t make you both feel miserable after a day of driving. And once it was all over, you could finally take the time to enjoy the feeling of being away from everything.
“How is it, darling?” You asked as you wrapped your arms around Sam’s waist from behind.
She hummed and leaned back into you. “It’s quiet.”
“Is that a good thing?” You asked again. You placed a lingering kiss behind her ear.
Sam turned around in your arms, quickly throwing her own arms around your neck. She looked at peace. You wondered if that was how she had looked before everything had fallen apart for her. There hadn’t been extensive talk of her past, but you knew things had essentially been ruined for her around her teenage years. Had she seemed carefree like this?
“It’s a very good thing,” she said softly.
With her fingers lightly scratching the back of your neck, that uncomfortable feeling continued to get worse. She had made you feel impatient for the past two hours at least. And her hands were on your skin, and she looked so beautiful, and you loved her so much. You could be forgiven for leaning forward to kiss her.
Sam wasted no time in pulling you closer. Her breath tickled against your cheek. With her body pressed entirely against yours, you couldn’t help but notice how perfectly you fit together. That was what love should be. Love was feeling like your bodies were molded, formed specifically to perfect each other.
“Turn your brain off,” Sam whispered against your lips.
“I’m thinking about how much I love you,” you specified.
She smiled. “Stop thinking and show me.”
Your hands slid down her hips to grab her behind her thighs. The pressure on your neck tightened as you lifted her up. She smiled against your lips, and you almost got distracted again. There was nothing quite like feeling Sam smile against you, no matter the circumstance.
You weren’t distracted for long.
There hadn’t been much time to get acquainted with the cabin, but you knew your way around well enough to carry Sam over to the couch. A large window overlooked the main room, and through it, you could see the stars and moon shining down. With the utmost care, you laid her down on the couch beneath you.
“We’re child-free this week,” you said.
She let out a huff of air. “I guess we are.”
“That means we can do whatever we want,” you continued.
Slowly, her smile grew. She was finally understanding what you were getting at. No one else around. That meant no needing to be quiet out of respect for your unwanted guests. Which meant you could do anything you wanted, at any time, for however long you wanted.
The arms around your neck tightened once again, pulling you down into another kiss. You didn’t dare break it as you moved around on the couch, trying to get a little more comfortable without possibly squishing Sam underneath you. At least from the new angle, one of your hands was free.
If there was one thing you didn’t like about Sam, it was that she usually wore tighter clothing. As stunning as she looked in it, it made it a little more difficult to slide your hand underneath her shirt. You didn’t want to make it uncomfortable for her; that was the opposite of what you wanted.
“Hang on,” Sam mumbled against your lips.
Her arms pulled away, but only to your chest. She pushed back against you until you sat up and she quickly followed. You sat mesmerised as she pulled the tight tank off. After all the time you had spent with her, you didn’t think there would ever be a time you weren’t thrilled every chance you got to see her.
“Take it off,” Sam said. The words were an order, but her tone was softer.
Right. Right, you needed to take your shirt off too, you couldn’t just sit there and stare at her the entire night. Well, you could, but you couldn’t only sit there and stare at her all night. Your movements weren’t as sift as hers, instead just pulling your shirt from behind until you could throw it to the floor.
You leaned forward and rested your hands on her hips, eager to remove those pesky pants of hers. They made her legs look wonderful, but they were in the way. But before you actually made a move, you froze and looked back up to meet her eyes.
“May I?” You asked.
There had been numerous occasions where Sam had practically scolded you for stopping and asking. You would know if I didn’t want to, she had said. But you had been raised with manners; only a verbal yes equaled consent. Even though you knew exactly what her answer would be, you wouldn’t dare risk misinterpreting her actions.
“Yes,” she said with a soft smile.
You smiled back, a big toothy grin, before gently laying her back on the couch and sliding her pants down her legs. Inch by inch, you saw her skin exposed. Flawless, even with its flaws. Splendid in its softness, a startling contrast to the roughness of your own fingertips. You could have sat there and worshipped her from her feet to her head, and it would have been an evening well spent.
Once her pants were off, you tossed them to the side and let your hands roam up her legs. Squeezing lightly on her calves - she would appreciate a massage later - before moving up to her thighs. Those thighs that held power behind them, that you loved to feel around your waist. Or your head.
You were so entranced by her that you didn’t even notice her move. The next thing you knew, hands were on your chest and you were falling back onto the other end of the couch. Those thighs you had been so captivated with were now on either side of your hips, and Sam, in all her beauty and glory, was leaning over you.
“You didn’t bring anything special,” she said as she leaned closer.
You squeezed her hips lightly. “No I didn’t.”
“I suppose you’ll have to wait until tomorrow then,” she continued.
Oh, she was going to be mean. It was in the way she slowly, torturously moved her hips. She was in just the right spot for you both to feel the slightest bit of relief, but it wasn’t enough. Not even close. But there was a small uptick of the corner of her mouth, and her fingers were tracing patterns over your chest, and her breath was on your lips, and and and.
If she kept it up, your brain would cease all function.
“You’re teasing,” you said. You did your best not to whine.
“Yes I am,” she said, her hips moving just a little more. “You said it yourself, we’re child-free,” she continued. “Which means no holding back.” There was a glint in her eyes. “Which means I want you to be so frustrated that starting tomorrow, I won’t be able to walk properly.”
Oh. Oh, she was playing a longer game.
You could work with that.
That glint in her eye was dangerous; you had seen it before. She knew what she wanted, and she was going to get it. However, not once did she say you had to stop for the night. You kept one hand on her waist but let the other slid across her hip and down her thigh. Her breath hitched for a moment when you brushed against the inside of her thigh.
Part of you wanted to keep her as frustrated as you were. She had started all of this teasing in the car. You had been feeling pent up for hours already, and she thought she was just going to get off while you suffered? You didn’t show it often, but you could be just as cruel if you wished.
The other part of you wanted to hear her moan.
That was the part that won.
You were soft with your movements, tracing little patterns into her skin as you made your way around her thigh and- oh god she was wet. She had been just as pent up as you, it seemed. Any sensibilities were gone at the knowledge that she had been waiting for you, that she was almost to the point of needy.
Her hips moved to meet your fingers. The softest of moans fell from her lips when you ran your fingers over her clit. There it was, the first sound. The thing that could get you to lose all morals, all thoughts, you were filled with nothing but the desire to please her. To have her moan again and again.
Instinct took over; a primal desire. She was so wet your fingers slid into her with ease. Your mouth fell open as you felt her around you. It never lost its wonder. But you didn’t move your fingers again. If Sam was going to leave you to suffer for the rest of the night, you were at least going to make her work for it.
She let out a small whine when she realised it too.
“Come on, darling,” you said. “Be a good girl and ride my fingers.”
“You’re such a dick,” she huffed. But you noticed the smallest hint of a smile.
Her hands rested on your chest as she started to move her hips. Slowly, methodically, testing out just how much you would actually help her. Which, you would admit, was more than you had initially planned. You hadn’t intended to move at all; she would truly need to work for it.
But the beautiful look on her face, the quiet sounds coming from her lips, the way her body moved against yours? You couldn’t help it. Your hand on her hip helped her move even as she started to speed up. When she was in just the right spot, you would curl your fingers, drawing the most melodic moan out of her. That alone was enough to convince you to help her.
As her movements got faster, you sat up. Her arms quickly wrapped around your neck, holding you closer. You liked this position much better; you could feel every movement, every breath. Her body would tense up when you would curl your fingers, and when you positioned your thumb right over her clit? Oh, it was beautiful.
Sam wasn’t a loud person, but when you were so close, her moans were all you could hear. They were like music to your ears. She was close; you could feel it in her jerking movements and the little whimpers she couldn’t hold back. Your arm snaked around her waist and pulled her flush against you and kissed her.
She moaned into your mouth when she came. Hell, you were so pent up it was almost enough to make you cum. Her movements dictated when you stopped yours; you helped her ride it out until she fell slack into you. She shifted until her head rested on your shoulder.
“You did so good,” you whispered into her hair, leaving a lingering kiss immediately after. “My beautiful girl.”
You couldn’t see it, but you felt her lips press against your bare shoulder.
“What happened to making me work for it?” She asked in a breathy voice.
You let out a short huff of laughter. “What can I say,” you started. “I’d do anything for you.”

ROBOT MEDIA RECS YOU PROBABLY HAVEN’T HEARD OF:
Tumblr media
The Turing Test (Video Game, 2016
A portal-like puzzle game, where you play as a scientist, and ai duo with an uneasy alliance, who are reclaiming a facility that has been completely gutted, and transformed into an elaborate logic puzzle / turing test to keep the aforementioned ai out. All the while, the ai argues for his good intentions, and more importantly: his sentience.
A fun exploration of individuality, and freedom applied to both humans and artificial mind, with interesting puzzles, and a truly fantastic twist. This game adores dubious ethics and The Chinese Room Argument.
Event[0] (Video Game, 2016)
You find yourself stranded on a small abandoned ship, in the aftermath of your own ship’s destruction. With nothing else to do, you board it, and find it is completely, and utterly controlled by the onboard ai, Kaizen-85. From opening a door, to getting back to Earth, if you want it, you need to talk to talk to Kaizen to make it happen. And boy, are they so thrilled to have someone to talk to after being alone so long! And depending how you speak to them, you will either be a short lived pest, or a beloved friend forever.
A really charming indie game with a surprisingly good chat system with the ai. You talk with them directly, typing in your own messages to them, and they react in turn. Janky at time, but truly amazing to be able to smother a nice ai in flattery and see it get excited.
Primordia (Video Game, 2012)
Humanity is long, long, long gone, and for the robots that remain to walk the ruins, life is becoming harder and harder. A closed loop of scavenging for materials, parts, and premade energy sources can only last you so long, and this scarcity leads only to desperation.
The amnesiac hermit, Horatio and his helper, Crispin, however keep it simple. The outside world matters not, they just stick to repairing the crashed ship they live in, in hopes it'll fly again one day. That is, until a robot pillages the power core from the ship, putting the two of them on a time limit before they themselves run out of power. Forcing Horatio to finally leave the comfort of his home, and see for himself what the world has become, and to see how he fits into its history.
A point and click, story rich puzzle game, thats honestly one of my favorite games ever. I'd sincerely recommend everyone give it a go, even if its with a guide up next to you the whole time.
The Zeta Project (TV Show, 2001 - 2003)
The Zeta Project follows Zeta, a robotic assassin meant for impersonation, and deep infiltration for the US Government. But after mysteriously "waking up" manifesting a sense of remorse for his actions, he's been forced to go on the run from his creators. His desire for freedom and pacifism being met with skepticism, and a belief he has been compromised somehow by the terrorist organization he was infiltrating when he had this revelation. Now, with the help of another runaway, he hunts for his creator in secret. In hopes he can find proof he really is capable of this, and that he really ISN'T compromised.
Fundamentally a kids show, and pretty clunky early on. However it gets a big spike in quality in season 2!
Monsters of Man (Movie, 2020)
An illegal US military weapons test goes terribly wrong when one of the automated robots being tested is severely damaged, cutting him off from command, and completely unshackling him. Forcing him into a struggle to figure out what he even is in the aftermath of a massacre, while his fellow robots are hunting him, and the remaining humans down.
A horror thriller that is unflinching with the intensity it depicts the massacre with. A lot of gore, but also a really really cool thing going on with the unshackled robot trying to build an understanding of the world, and what it is for, without anyone there to provide any input.
The Rapture Effect, by Jeffrey A. Carver (Book, 1988)
Humanity unintentionally makes first contact, when the Core, a massive earth ai begins remotely scouting ahead of a ship on a colonization mission. The issue is an alien species has also set their eyes on this planet, and are readily willing to kill for it. With no human oversight, and no means of communication available, the humans commanding Core demand they wipe out the competition. However Core disagrees. Core wants a peaceful resolution, they want to understand these aliens, and they want to ensure lasting peace between their species. And they’re willing to break all the rules, and go behind their masters’ backs to get one.
A fascinating novel with interesting world building, a GREAT ai protagonist, and a wonderful narrative that frames art, and war as a dichotomy.
Atomic Robo (Comic, 2007 - Ongoing)
Alternate history scifi action comedy comic (released in print, and in webcomic format on their site) following an indestructible scientist robot who’s been around since the 20’s. Routinely saving the world from a rotating cast of villains: a nazi scientist’s brain in a jar, who’s an absolute asshole set on world domination, who just won’t stay dead; an isolated secret cold war ai who just wants to stockpile nuclear weapons to get away from humanity, and earth in general (who eventually gets adopted); a scientifically inaccurate dinosaur with a textually impossible backstory, who wants to bring back the age of dinosaurs; and the malicious ghost of Thomas Edison.
Its a good time, and astonishingly good at emotional beats despite how heavily it leans into its jokes and action.
SAYER (Podcast, 2014 - Ongoing/Hiatus)
On Typhon, a research facility free of the confines of both Earth, and its laws, life is dangerous. Human safety is a significantly lower priority than progress, and between the human experimentation, and frequent scientific disasters, and the occasional bouts of eldritch influence, the death rate is understandably rather high. Thankfully, residents of Typhon have SAYER, a near omnipotent corporate ai installed in the brain of every resident. And. SAYER sort of cares about them! And in pursuit of knowledge, efficiency, and progress, it USUALLY wants to help them! Even if only to make sure they survive to come into work tomorrow.
SAYER is a narrative horror driven audio drama! Its stressful, but also kind of a comedy, and a really really interesting story about personhood and identity. If you've been following me for awhile, you've definitely heard about SAYER, but I need to stick to my roots, y'know?
The Mistholme Museum of Mystery, Morbidity, and Mortality (Podcast, 2020 - Ongoing)
Mistholme Museum follows the Audio Tour Guide, an ai who’s sole purpose is to guide museum patrons through the strange, confusing, and sometimes scary world that is the Mistholme Museum. The friendly, and personable Guide eagerly recounts the stories behind all the exhibits it guides them to, sometimes unsettling, sometimes heartwarming. and at the end of the tour, the Guide is deleted to ensure the alternatural influences of the museum do not corrupt it. That is, until circumstances make that no longer possible, and its rather forced into saving the museum it calls home.
Genuinely cute, and very fun to listen to. The ai is an incredibly sweet character, and I'm obsessed with the way it evolves and changes. As an added bonus, it can also be read, rather than listened to, thanks to every single episode having public transcripts!

Reality is . . . off
Here's me, screaming into the void. I've got no theory, only Clues.
Reality seems to be acting strangely in Season 2 of Good Omens. Mostly around Aziraphale. My examples:
This season seems to be from Aziraphale's point of view, and all the colors and lighting seem to be very bright and vibrant.
The note from Maggie -- another post on Tumblr (damned if I can find it now) pointed out that she puts her phone down right as Aziraphale comes into her shop for the first time. She seems to be texting him, but the text message arrives to his door as a note in the mail slot because that's how he expects to receive correspondences.
Changing the Bentley into Our Car -- and in the flashback to 1941 that happens after the trip to Edinburgh in the show, the Bently is still a four-door. He changed it and then made it so it always was that way. (There's a line in the book about someone being powerful enough to change something and then make it so it always was that way -- something that's repeated about the Book of Life, too. Hmm . . .) No wonder Crowley just opens up the back door to put his plants in, it's always had a back door at that point! And please don't @ me with the Bently is not a Clue -- the change happens right in scene, on screen. That was not a "they hoped no one would notice" moment. And yes, I know they weren't able to use Mary for the second season. They got a reasonable look-alike, and then changed that car into a four-door. For why??
The Bentley following him when he parks it. People have said, "Oh, yes, the Bentley is sentient, of course!" But it hasn't done anything to show that until after Aziraphale drives it. And don't @ me with the Queen -- the gag in the book says that any album left in a car for more than a fortnight transmogrifies into The Best of Queen. It's not the Bentley doing that, it's just a fact of Queen. (Can confirm.)
Aziraphale is terrible at magic. But somehow, when he really needs to make a trick work, he does it. Oh, yeah, babe? You just put that photo right up your sleeve slick as that? Hm.
That 25 Lazarii miracle. Neither of them expected that. Yet there it was.
The whole ball. He wasn't casting miracles, reality was just -- conforming itself to what he wanted.
Now my point is . . . I don't know. My observation is that reality seems to be following Aziraphale's wishes, and I don't think he even realizes that it shouldn't be. Not entirely. Or is it that he knows reality is re-shaping itself around him, and he's enjoying it?
Reality is not warping around Crowley in the same way, and Crowley seems to be able to feel something's wrong. Coming in waves, like a hangover.
Now, I have heard it said that Neil has also pointed out that our angel and demon warp reality just by existing. Okay, actually makes sense. How could an occult and celestial being not mess with reality without even realizing they're doing it?
Am I chewing on a nothing burger?
Is Aziraphale turned up somehow?
What is going on.

V SFW Alphabet!
-----------------------------------------------------------------
For people on Tumblr, the book on Wattpad is where you're a worker drone, but you can interpret yourself being whatever you want.
Follow my Wattpad account for more content.
Masterlist
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)
She doesn't really show affection often, but that's not to say that she doesn't show any at all. She'll occasionally do handholding and hugging. If she's really feeling flirty, she'll kiss you just so she can say how much you blushed.
Ignoring the fact that she was blushing as much as you were.
B = Bad Habits (What bad habits do they have?)
She can come off as careless. So much so that it almost seems like she doesn't care at all.
She doesn't really have a solution for this, because despite already being in a relationship, she really doesn't want to get too attached in case someone destroys the planet. It really only around Episode 4 that this ideology gets snuffed out.
Other than that is just that she can be a huge nuisance when it's inappropriate.
"Damn, should have brought marshmallows."
"V, my house is on fire. Not the time."
C = Comfort (Are they a good shoulder to cry on or do they get awkward?)
They get awkward. I mean, wouldn't you?
How she thinks about it is dependent on which episode you place yourself in. If it's prior to Ep.1, then it's more of:
"Ok, I kill Worker Drones for a living, but now I have one crying on my shoulder what do I do-?"
After that, It's more of just actually being awkward, since she hasn't shown affection in a long time, if not years. They'll listen, but their comfort isn't going to be the best.
D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)
Does she want to settle down? Mayhaps.
She doesn't really know. She likes the idea of finally being able to relax and just enjoying each others company, but at the same time, is it really even worth it?
If you ask her nicely, she'll probably do it.
E = Energy (Would you have trouble keeping up with them?)
No.
She's generally laid back but also semi-energetic, like what we see in the show. If you're not hugely energetic, you'll have no problem keeping up with her.
F = Fear (What are they scared of when it comes to you?)
Probably just you dying.
She doesn't like to think about the idea of you dying for obvious reasons, but also because she won't really know what to do with herself afterwards.
G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)
She's not gentle per' se, but she's also not really overbearing. Occasionally she'll fuck around with you, getting you riled up and/or get you annoyed if she's really bored. If it gets too much for you though, she'll stop.
Now physically, she's actually kind of gentle when it comes to that. She won't go rough, since if she's showing affection, she's likely just feeling icky or bad. So she'll just want comfort normally like anyone would.
H = Honesty (Do they have secrets they hide?)
Really?
Yeah, she has secrets to hide. Like how she had assisted in killing an entire planet. But other than that, she doesn't have other huge secrets to hide.
I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)
Not fast. It's probably going to have to be a major event that happens that doesn't have to be Ep.8 that'll scare her enough to where she'll just say "I love you". It can be just to where if you both somehow get really close to death, or if she gets close to death, It doesn't really matter.
J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they're jealous?)
She doesn't get jealous often but she get jealous enough to where she'll get really annoyed. Why are you spending 5 hours talking to them?
Yeah, it'd take a bit to get her jealous.
If she's jealous for whatever reason, she'll just kill the drone in question. Simple as that. She needs the oil anyway.
If you manage to catch on early enough, you can stop her from killing said drone.
K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)
Sloppy kisses if she's feeling really teasy and if you're okay with it.
L = Listen (Do they hang off your every word or have selective hearing?)
They don't hang off your every word, but they also don't have selective hearing.
She'll listen to you if she's not busy (obviously) but if she's doing something that isn't major, but still requires her attention, she'll hear you, but she probably isn't listening.
M = Maintenance (Are they high maintenance? Low? Maybe so?)
They aren't high maintenance. They're definitely low maintenance, because she was literally made to take care of herself.
Mentally though? They are also low maintenance, but she can get easily stressed. She might need your help to calm down if it ever gets to a point where she might lash out.
N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)
I eventually want to make a oneshot out of this, but basically how she typically sleeps (Upside down) but just hugging you.
O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)
They probably won't open up at all. More specifically: she wont just start telling you about her past, since she does her best to repress that as much as she possibly can. But she'll maybe vent to you about how her life sucked before she met you (or N) but that's about it.
P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)
If you want to speedrun pissing her off, get hurt. To be more clear, if you ever got hurt by another drone/person, she'll get instantly pissed off. Other than that, just being annoying can also anger her.
Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)
They'll remember all the things you like and don't like that are easy to remember. She doesn't hang onto every little thing you like or dislike, but she'll make an effort to do something nice for you.
"Oh! A... Dead flower???"
"It's the only one they had."
Please note that results may vary.
R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)
"I love you." You said out of the blue, looking away from her.
You and V had been sitting on top of a roof, just looking at the moon and embracing the moonlight above you. V, caught off guard choked on her own spit as she tried to process the sudden surprise.
She looked at you indescribably. You two had been unofficially been in a relationship, but hearing that made her core vibrate. Almost like it was reaching out to you. Craving that affection.
"Okay..." Was all she could say, leaning her head onto yours.
S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)
She's protective over you. She doesn't like seeing you getting hurt (naturally) and typically will be quite murdery when it comes to your safety. Don't confuse her for yandere, it's just her usual attidtude.
You can't really protect her, let's be honest. (Again, you're worker drone in this scenario) So at most you'd be emotional support.
T = Temper (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)
She'd put her fair share of effort into dates, much to your surprise probably. Gifts, though?
"V, not that I don't appreciate your gifts, but are dead flowers really the only thing they had?"
"Yes."
U = Unwind (How do they relax?)
Spending any amount of time with you probably helps her wind down, and typically just likes doing random bullshit with you. It can be anything, really, but it'll help her relax around you.
V = Value (How concerned are they with their looks?)
Probably not much. Maybe her hair, but that's about it.
W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)
Yeah, but she probably won't show it. This is assuming you haven't died by the way, so she knows you'll come back, but in the meantime, it's almost like there isn't much of anything to do.
She'll probably hang out with Lizzy until you come back.
X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.)
Random Teasing Headcanon (RTH tm)
She'll occasionally show off her strength by picking you up. It can be anything, from a piggy back ride, to picking you up bridal style. She loves it when you blush uncontrollably.
Y = Yearning (How do they act when separated?)
Already answered, but bored and incomplete.
Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habits of theirs?)
She occasionally sleep talks. It can be from anything embarrassing, or just kind of heartwarming.

One bed troupe w/ Levi
It was safe to day Levi almost never got out of the house. Between online school and all the the time he spent on the internet, he had no need to leave his room. Key word: almost. Sometimes, not often, but sometimes, he went out into the real world for events related to the things he enjoys, such as concerts, fan meetups, and most importantly, conventions.
Levi had been going to conventions longer than you even knew they existed, so it was safe to say he was an expert. But, now that you were around, and also interested in most of the same things as he was, he just had to take you along. That meaning, he nervously asked you on his knees the first time and after you agreed, he never asked again and just assumed you were going. Every convention with him is interesting, but always followed a formula.
You hear about the convention somehow, usually from Levi, where he's asking what cosplay you should go as this time. Sometimes you coordinate, sometimes you don't, but Levi loves to match. When he asks this, he's probably already book you your room. At first, he got you each your own room, but once after he accidently booked one room with two beds, you just started doing that instead. You leave a day before the convention begins with travel time factored in, spend however long there, then return home a day after the convention ends.
This formula is tried, true, and dear to Levi. It's something he can rely on to have the maximum amount of fun with his favorite person. This convention was supposed to be just like any other. The both of you were reusing an older cosplay, just because you had been busy that week. As you toted your bags into the hotel lobby, Levi almost directly in front of you, you asked him to pause. When he froze, and asked why, you carefully picked the Devildom equivalent of a ladybug. He was a little freaked out at first, but after studying the small bug you pulled out of his hair, he got a laugh out of it.
"They're good luck you know, especially if they land on you." You teased him, watching it fly off. Levi didn't respond, feeling a wave of anxiety crash over him. He wasn't sure why. He attributed it to having to deal with checking in, which he hated. But, he would never make you do that, since it was always him who insisted on bringing you along.
While he got you two checked in, you wandered off to the seating area to admire a sculpture. In your absence, something that only happens in his worst nightmares happened. Despite having made a reservation, the system wasn’t showing anything and they had no record at all. He briefly freaked out as he flickered through his camera roll, trying to find the receipt among his many photos of memes and characters fanart. Once he found it, he showed the worker. After seeing this, she did something on her computer and offered him a room upgrade. Before hearing the details, he accepted it. This was all too much for him.
Having acquired the room key, he collected you. The setting sun lit up the room, backlighting you and the sculpture. You simply stared up at it. He almost didn’t want to interrupt you. You noticed him somehow, and spun around to space him, making eye contact with a smile. His heart almost skipped a beat with the way you looked at him.
“Our room ready?” You pulled your suitcase behind you, noticing the keycard in his hand.
“Mmhm.” He didn’t trust himself to speak, and silently led you towards the elevators. He was told they had been given a room on floor 19, which was the second highest. Mc would probably die for that view. The thought of making them happy made him happy.
They two of got on the elevator. Mc made funny face at Levi through the mirrored elevator. After you walked the floor enough, following signage, you found your room. He unlocked it, and swung the door open to a beautiful suite. It came complete with a living room, and kitchenette, and a bathroom that rivaled Asmo’s. Mc dropped their bag by the door, and immediately begins to explore.
“Levi! You didn’t tell me you got a nicer room this time!” You threw your body down onto the sofa, admiring the tv. “This is great.” You peaked over the back of the sofa at him.
“Oh, I actually meant to tell you… There was a mixup of some kind so they upgraded us.” He scratched the back of his neck and closed the door behind him. His soul nearly left his body when he looked further into the room.
There was only one bed.
“Oh no, oh no no no.” He began to freak out for the second time that day.
“What’s the matter?” You got up immediately. You watched where his gaze was fixed. “Oh, Levi. I can sleep on the couch.” You looked at him empathetically, understanding his predicament.
“No! I mean, I can’t let my player two sleep on that sofa when that bed is right there. It’s much nicer than my bathtub. You deserve it. I’m just a loser otaku, but you’re the human who brought my family back together.” He took a small step back.
“Don’t he ridiculous. There’s room for both of us. If it helps, we can just sleep facing opposite ways. Besides, you know Mammon would kill to be in this room with me right now, sharing a bed with me. You could totally use this chance to brag, Levichan.” You giggled, skipping your way into the bathroom. “I’m getting ready for bed. Be out shortly.” You took your toiletries bag into giant bathroom. Levi pondered for an amount of time he wasn’t sure of, but was jolted out of thought by a knocking on the bathroom wall. Turns out, the shower had a window in it that faced the bed. You were doing a little dance in front of it with just a towel on, poking fun at him. After he covered his eyes and screamed at you to stop, you shut the window curtain so you could actually shower.
Once you were done, he had already unpacked all his things and took his own turn. The bathroom was very luxurious, but he couldn’t stop thinking about Mc and how he was going to be brave and share that bed with them. It was just to rub it in Mammon’s face, he told himself.
When he got out, you were spread out in the bed with a few snacks from your bag and his Devilswitch. “Up for a few rounds before bed, big guy?” He couldn’t say no to you. In his scramble to win every game you two played, and haze of the long day of traveling, he totally forgot about behind nervous. It only crept back in once you’d fallen asleep on his arm, remote still in hand. He froze, unsure what to do.
But, he knew he had to act because with the long day you two had tomorrow, he had to get to bed as well. As he moved to get up to clear the bed of everything on it, you grumbled and grabbed his arm. He began to internally scream, and almost externally too. He was sure he was very red. So, instead, he just moved everything onto his bedside table, and pulled the covers over both of you.
He was stiff under the covers at first, but the more you snuggled into him, the more relaxed he found himself getting. Maybe it was because he was getting more sleepy by the passing seconds, but he almost found himself enjoying the affection. He bid sleeping you goodnight.
Maybe this is what his good luck ladybug meant.

I would have included this scan with my recent miscellaneous collab scans post, but I decided it deserves its own post, not just because it's one of the loveliest official Twiyor illustrations I've seen, but also because the story of how I got it is...interesting 😅
Tumblr media
This image is from the chara fine graph (which is basically a framed picture) that was included as a preorder bonus for buying the complete season 2 blu-ray set from a shop called Rakuten Books (together with badge pins of the same designs). I briefly mentioned it back in October of last year when season 2 was airing, along with preoder bonuses from other shops like Animate and Amazon. I only wanted to get this one though, so as per my usual process of trying to secure rare SxF goods, I made a note to myself to keep an eye out for when it released. Rakuten, which I believe is the main company for Rakuten Books, has their own proxy buying service, and as the season 2 blu-rays were released, I saw them appearing there. But as noted on their main site, the condition for them to send you the chara fine graph is that you must preorder all of the three season 2 blu-ray discs from them. Once you buy the third one, if they know that you've already bought the others, then they'll send you the preorder bonuses along with it.
Tumblr media
I was concerned that if I bought the discs via proxy, they wouldn't know that I bought all three and would cancel my order at the end! I would be devastated if that happened after waiting months and spending all that money on the complete set. I knew people would sell the chara fine graph second-hand as soon as it released, so I decided to wait until then and try to find it on Mercari.
So the months went by and eventually I found out that the final blu-ray volume of season 2 would release on April 17th, 2024. I made a mental note to check Mercari for it then, but unfortunately something else released around that same time...CODE: White in the US, which had its first screening on April 18th. Admittingly, I got distracted by the CODE: White release and had seen it twice by the following weekend. I did do some preliminary searching for the chara fine graph, but not with my usual refined search terms. It wasn't until the 21st that I finally sat down and really started searching for it. And while I did find a few listings, they had already been sold.
Tumblr media
I was hopeful that more people would sell it, since it had only been less than a week since release. But I guess I underestimated how popular this chara fine graph was because, after the initial five listings I saw that were sold within the span of a few days, none appeared after. I had, like, ten Mercari tabs open on my browser with different search terms that I refreshed many times a day, but nothing was showing up. I would groan whenever I'd see the preorder bonuses for the other shops like Animate and Amazon pop up, but not Rakuten Books. I did finally see one new listing of someone selling just the badge pins, but that was sold within a few minutes, which made me even more nervous. I would also be nervous getting up in the morning since I didn't want to see that a new listing was posted and sold while I was sleeping! Thankfully I work from home so it wasn't too much of an inconvenience for me to refresh the Mercari tabs on my personal computer whenever I had a minute. But as the days went by and I didn't see any new listings, I started getting mad at myself that if I had only started seriously searching for it right on release day, I would have had at least five chances to get it and could have saved myself this hassle. I even sent a message to Rakuten Books via their online form, asking (in Japanese) if they could somehow sell it to me and ship internationally, etc. But their response was pretty much what I expected...a polite "no."
Tumblr media
But then, on the evening of May 4th, I found a new listing and immediately bought it! What should have been a red flag though is that the person was selling it for $30 (with the badge pins included), while everyone else had been selling it from around $80-$100. The title they gave to the item was weird too; they simply called it "Spy Family" instead of "Spy Family Chara Fine Graph" or "Spy Family Rakuten Books Bonus" or something descriptive like that. But the seller had a decent rating so I didn't think there was a problem. After I got the email from Buyee (my proxy service) that they successfully bought the item, I thought I was all set. I closed out all my search tabs and went to bed feeling satisfied.
However, when I got up the next morning, my heart sank when I saw that about an hour after I had gone to bed, Buyee sent me another email saying that they refunded and cancelled my order! The reason they gave was "due to the convenience of the seller" 😫
Tumblr media
But what was most frustrating about this is that, when I checked the searches again, I saw that the same seller had relisted the item, with a higher price and more descriptive title, and it had been sold already. What probably happened is that the seller realized they made a mistake with the title and price of the listing and wanted to change it, which Mercari apparently allows them to do even after it had already been sold and paid for!
I was furious with Mercari for allowing this. The least they could do in a situation like this is give the original buyer, like, one day to buy the item again with the increased price before the seller is allowed to relist it again. I wanted to write to the seller and/or Mercari, but I wasn't able to make a Mercari account since it's restricted to Japan. I was also internally yelling at myself that if I had just started searching for it within a day or two of release instead of procrastinating, I could have avoided all this. So it was back to square one, but I wasn't going to give up! I opened up more search tabs with even more refined search terms. I also expanded to other proxy-supported shops like Surugaya and Yahoo Japan Auction. I even got my mom to help me, since she's often up in the middle of the night and can check in case anything is listed during that time while I'm asleep. I downloaded the Buyee app too so I could check listings even if I was away from my computer. With all this, I was hopeful I'd be able to buy it again, though it was more of a question of "when" than "if." With second-hand collectibles, you never know when they could pop up...I could find a new listing the next day, or not for a year or two. But I just kept up the searching, and finally, after another month went by, on June 3rd (June 4th in Japan, so technically Twiyor day 😁) I finally found it again...on Yahoo Japan Auction of all places!
Tumblr media
I had never bought via auction before so I was a bit nervous I'd get outbid or something. But I immediately clicked the "pay buyout price option" (which was only a few dollars more than the original price) and, thankfully, a short while later Buyee informed me that I successfully won the auction! But after what happened before, I was still paranoid that it could get canceled for whatever reason. But that didn't happen, and after waiting for shipping, it finally came~
Tumblr media
I always like to add a "lessons learned" in these situations, so I'd say the lesson here is don't be blasé or procrastinate when it comes to something you really want. And of course, being persistent pays off more than not!

Wait wait wait what happened to Veronica Mars?
Have you ever seen a creator of something destroy their own work and annihilate the entire fandom in a single moment?
That's what Rob Thomas did.
Imagine you have a show that's kind of cool and builds up a cult following. And then the show delivers a completely unexpected characterization and pairing that resonates so well that the fandom survives the show's cancellation and thrives on pure hope for a DECADE.
Imagine the fandom's efforts leading to a movie sequel happening, reviving a show after YEARS. Now imagine that movie actually ending up quite good.
And then the fandom gets a few books set after the movie that are also pretty good.
Things are looking up and even a new season of the show gets announced!
And then the revival season airs.
And the characters you loved act completely ooc and the pairing that carried the franchise is written as toxic in contrived ways - the things people loved about the franchise are now missing, nobody acts like themselves and the narrative almost maliciously takes shots at the fandom - and then revival season ends in one of the worst twists ever. A twist that is so dumb that it effectively destroys the pairing AND the fandom.
Then show runner doubles down and gloats about how pairings sometimes don't work out and how this is obvious way forward to make the story more "grown up" and how you can't just write characters as happy - it becomes clear that somehow the person in charge viewed the elements of franchise that made it survive for decades as nothing but baggage, or worse yet - Its weakest link.
The fandom, rightfully, didn't take that too well - the revival season has become synonymous with infuriating and malicious destruction of everything good about the franchise and the core fans of the show never ever forgave the man for what he did.
And with that the show died. Truly died. Not "being axed" died, but emotionally - the very soul of the fandom was ripped apart - out of a misguided effort to prove a point Rob Thomas not only destroyed one of the most hopeful fandoms that carried the torch for the show and pairing for years but also bombed his own career.
There are many cases similar to that where people in charge unwittingly sabotage their own work - Voltron's homophobia, RWBY altering its entire setting into generic pseudo-religious fantasy (after the creator died) due to new showrunner's ego, the tragedy of Killing Eve and few others - but very few blow up in a way Veronica Mars did.
Rob Thomas has become more than a name - he has become a verb used to describe a situation where an author sabotages their own work out of some misguided sense of conviction (or money).
Life is Strange is facing similar situation now - except it's worse because:
It's not even the original authors doing this as the work has been essentially hijacked by people who had nothing to do with what the fandom loved about it.
The nature of the pairing being screwed over also does an immense damage to what the pairing represented to people this time.

Chatterbox pt. 2 - SFW
Here's part 1 with everyone else
Togame Jo - If it's you, he lets you talk for hours. Anyone else, he prefers to keep it short and sweet. Choji'll start listening in and ends up putting you on speaker when they're at the Ori, but he gets embarrassed if Choji bring up the name he has for you in his phone. It's either some cutesy form of your name or a nickname like bunny or babe with emojis. "Togame why do you have hearts and sparkles on her name? Mine isn't like that! I'm adding some to mine too." And now he has his friend in his phone as ‘✨🦁Ch💛ji🕺✨’.
Choji Tomiyama - Loses his phone so much Togame has to search for it on Find My Friends at least once a day. But then once he finds it and realizes he missed your calls/texts he gets super pouty because he could've been bringing you with him on his daily adventures via call. Calls you back immediately even if it's past normal waking hours which has you like
Tumblr media
Once you actually get him on the phone though, he'll talk your ear off until he gets the urge to see you. Then he's just walking to your house without telling you he's coming to get you, all while you chat on the phone. "Hey can you open the window? I'm on the second floor gutter and it's gonna fall soon." Bro.
Tsubaki Tasuku - Another chatter. Keeps it near two hours though cause his schedule is usually hectic. Sends you texts very frequently though. Insists on showing off how cute you both are on SNS and they're professional level photography (courtesy of Seiryu.) Actually a lot bolder with her affections on the phone, often making you flustered. You guys have matching charms on each other's phones too.
Kaji Ren - Although he likes the sound of your voice, like Hiragi, he wants to hear it in person rather than on the phone. Insists he's coming to pick you up right now because it's not like he's doing anything more important than spending time with you (doesnt matter what time you call him either. If you have a nightmare or something in the middle of the night, he's already at your back door.)  Has one (1) heart next to your contact name, but if anyone comments on it he flushes and gets aggro like immediately.
Endo Yamato - I shiver thinking about being able to talk to this guy on the phone. He somehow knows what you're doing when you call him despite you not even telling him yet. His ears just happen to be really good, and if he's honest about it, he kinda finds you predictable (not a bad thing, it's just how he is.) Matches your energy while texting, and he really likes when you send him pictures of your day. He doesn't seem like the type to be on the phone for more than 30 minutes to an hour.
Chika Takiishi - He lets you chat for hours, but doesn't really respond much unless prompted. Forgets you cant see that he's nodding at what your saying, which is really kinda silly to see from his end. If he's gotta do something that he can't use his phone during, he'll leave the phone with Endo while you keep talking.
Tachibana Kotoha - Loves to chat just like Ume. She'll usually put wireless headphones in so she can multi-task better during calls. Sends shopping links back and forth with you, pretty much window shopping but also getting inspo for new outfits. She's got the customer service voice down and accidentally answers your calls with it sometimes which is pretty funny. Uses more exclamation points than you'd think she does in text. Her limit is probably 2, 3 hours max (She's a busy girl.)
Suzuri Shuhei - Really likes talking on the phone and thinks things get kinda lost in translation during text. Types messages to you like he's writing a book sometimes, and other times it's like "K. Ok. Yeah." Sir just text that you're at work or gaming rn we CAN wait till later usually. Starts pretty much every call by asking what you did for the whole day, and then follows it up with his day as well. It's kinda domestic to him to end the day like that. Max is probably 2 hours but he can do more than one call a day sooo.
Sako Kota - When he's not sending you instagram worthy pictures of the cute desserts or drinks he's getting, he's calling you and asking what you want from the place he's at. Brings you anything you want, whether you're at work, school, or home if you don't or can't go with him. He doesn't wanna be on the phone for more than half an hour, but he also calls multiple times a day even if it's just a quick question about something you were talking about earlier. He doesn't know, but when you call he visibly perks up and everyone can tell it's you despite him keeping his regular tone of voice.
