A majestic cormorant spreads its wings to dry as it stands perched on a rock by the water. The bird's powerful posture and sleek black feathers create a striking contrast against the serene reflection of the water. This moment captures the beauty and strength of wildlife, where the bird commands attention in its natural habitat, blending grace and purpose in the peaceful setting.

How often do you spot wild snakes?
They are all sleeping from early October til late March.
In the summer I've maybe averaged two sightings per month this year.
Until 2022 there was an adder colony 5 minute's walk from my house and I could go and check on them on coffee breaks through the summer. I could reliably offer to take people to see the adders. Even got to witness births and courtship displays some years.
But then the dirt track which you could watch them from got bulldozed and upgraded and the adders no longer hang out on the track side.
I hope they will return some day... :'(

This little rabbit seems to be enjoying a quiet moment among the rocks. Its soft fur contrasts with the rugged terrain, making for an unexpectedly sweet sight. Capturing these animals in their natural habitat often reveals moments of tranquility like this one, where nature takes center stage in its simplest form.

02/08/24-Feral Pigeons, beautiful views including nice sky, fleabane, Great Crested Grebes and blackberries at Lakeside Country Park and sky at home.
Excellent views of Southern Hawker, Migrant Hawker and possibly Emperor, Black-tailed Skimmer, Common Darter, Azure or Common Blue Damselfly and Blue-tailed Damselfly were captivating to see dashing around in a dazzling dragonfly and damselfly fest on my lunch time and evening Lakeside walks. Other highlights today were House Martin, Moorhen, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Green Woodpecker heard, Gatekeeper, Meadow Brown, Common Blue, a fair few Speckled Woods, Peacock, Comma and Red Admiral butterflies, burdock, nightshade, St. John's-wort, plantain, bird's-foot trefoil, red clover and knapweed.

Wildlife Photography Doesn't Have To Be Exotic
Photographing wildlife is one of the most amazing experiences I have had as a photographer. Have I ever photographed a Lion? No. Have I ever photographed a wolf? Not in the wild. Have I ever photographed a grizzly bear? No. Eastern Chipmunk at Tanglewood Nature Center. You may be asking yourself, how amazing of an experience can photographing wildlife be if I haven’t photographed any of these…
