Paintman Go Features not in Splatoon

Some people wanted a part 2 to my last post so here you go, this one being a lot more silly because Tumblr deleted my first draft of this post and I am bitter.

1. Pet system

As mentioned in my first post Paintman Go used to have a pet system. While most of it was lost to time due to little photo archiving being done I asked around and it seemed you could feed your pet food and evolve them, bringing them in battle would give your weapon a different sub then it normally would. 2. Upgradable Weapons

Unlike in Splatoon, all you need stat wise is your gun allowing clothing to be fully cosmetic which I prefer. You can also equip 3 subs to a weapon at a time. Some of the subs and specials are exclusive to Paintman Go too.

3. New sub system.

To keep the subs balanced they added a bar to the bottom right, to use your special or your subs you need the correct amount of points which are gotten by inking turf. You could in theory get your special off twice in a row if you save up and are good enough. 4. Inking the walls

Inking the walls gives you points.... I don’t get it either.

5. Bot players

You know how I know inking the walls isn’t a bug? these little heckers do it! If a player disconnects or not enough people show up these guys show up. They like to move before the match even starts, ink the walls, jump around and sometimes get stuck in their bot forms.

6. Super Jumping anywhere

I was a bit mistaken in my last post on paintman go, turns out super jumping anywhere is a much older feature. It’s just only in the battle royale mode as of the current build so I was confused.

7. Battle Royal Mode

Oh yeah, the battle royale mode. That’s a thing I gotta list. Instead of 2 teams of 3 it’s 4 teams of 3. No clue why it’s not 4 teams of 4 but likely since that may be laggy.

8. The autobombs are children

This one I’m throwing in since it’s just something I find funny. The autobombs are identical to your crab form, no it’s not a placeholder since even the HUD icon is of a little itty bitty bot. Man, good thing Octo Expansion isn’t copied in this game or Agent 3 would have some explaining to do. 9. Backpacks

Someone sent this idea to the blog a while ago, little did they know it was a feature in Paintman Go this whole time. The backpacks sadly don’t show your ink amount but I’m sure if Nintendo added it they’d fix that. 10. Pokémon Clothing

Seriously, why isn’t this in Splatoon? Nintendo, what are you doing? Why is there no nintendo themed gear, make it amiibo functionality or something. 11. Longer clothing and skirts

This isn’t even all of them but you get the idea right? 12. White ink in normal turf

Not my screenshots since it seems kind of rare but you see a cpu player with the coconut juice.

13. World Leaderboard

Self explanatory. 14. Clothing Chunks

By winning in turf wars you can get these clothing puzzle piece things, if you get enough you get free clothing.

15. Lootboxes

Oh yeah... forgot to mention the lootboxes. Yeah you get the things from number 14 and more from these. THANKFULLY they can only be gotten via actual gameplay and not real money like in past builds. (for now at least, is still in beta) If any of this interests you you can download the game here, maybe it can hold you over till splatoon 3. (Assuming you don’t have a switch or Wii U...)

What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

I Want That Can't-Sleep Love: I wrote this fic while going through one of the most absolute turbulent experiences in my lifetime. Subsequently, this was also my first fic on AO3! And somehow it's been my most "famous" one, too. This is an ASMR AU where Marinette and Adrien are both extremely popular YouTubers who do ASMR for a living and have no idea who each other are, because they film from the neck down.

The Stars Are Nothing (Compared to Your Constellations of Freckles): This is a sort-of Marichat fic! As in, Marichat is a thing in this fic, and Adrien really wants to tell Marinette that he's Chat Noir. Her boyfriend. That guy. He wants to tell her. But is waaaay too much of a sissy to do it.

Locker Talk: Mouse Miraculous!Marinette and Snake Miraculous!Luka get trapped in a closet because of an Akuma, and then they fall in love. Maybe. The order might be wrong, though.

Sharks and Sugar: Quite possibly my prized possession, that will only be surpassed when I finish this very fic's sequel Eight for Two, this is a Kwami Swap + Reverse Crush AU in which Marinette has the Cat and Adrien has the Ladybug, and it's this AU's version of Ladrien. And Marinette has ADHD. And is obsessed with the idea of sharks. Adrien's just here for the ride.

The Bet: Also a Marichat fic! This one is really old. Chat Noir bets Marinette that he can kiss her by the end of the night, and he says this while he's in the middle of getting absolutely dragged through the mud in last place as they play Mario Kart (Mario Kart Wii, actually, because Mario Kart Wii is superior to literally every other Mario Kart that exists)

Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

Okay so uh. Uhm.

The short answer is no.

The long answer is: I really really want to. I get so excited reading comments and so euphoric that I never know how to respond. I get so embarrassed by whatever I end up typing into the comment box that I end up deleting it and kind of hiding away. The brief and small times I do actually manage to hit send, however, are the times where my worry has really been overcome by the need to answer.

I'm not a native English speaker, so I get incredibly shy. Like, really shy with the idea of being misunderstood and coming off as mean and rude.

What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

Technically speaking the only angst I've written that has an ending is something isn't right (echoing mirrors). It's a Chat Blanc-centric drabble that's about a thousand words!

Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?

Nope! I've never been interested in writing or reading crossovers, I'll be honest. I always exclude them from my searches on AO3.

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

I haven't received hate, but I have gotten a few comments before saying "It would've made more sense if this character had done this, because of..." and essentially psycho-analyzing my plot and character motives for a better reason. It... didn't do me good. I felt incredibly embarrassed.

Do you write smut? If so what kind?

No! I don't write smut. It's incredibly difficult, and I don't have the talent for it. There are so many good smut writers out there that I feel like anything I wrote would feel dull in comparison!

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

I'm not a popular writer! A sad but grateful thing to be! I don't think anyone's stolen my fic, at least, I don't think so.

Have you ever had a fic translated?

Nope, but there's a scene in one of my fics called Eight for Two that I think about constantly that I would really really kill to be translated into Portuguese. The problems I have with English with not being able to differentiate a "ser" and "estar"s... oh it frustrates me to no end. One of the reasons why I haven't finished this fic yet is I'm not sure how to make this much of an impact with this chapter in English.

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Depends! I've been writing a fic called fire lily petals that is based off of an AU that a Miraculous server came up together in 2018 that I decided to write a "bit" of. 100k+ words after that and I've deviated from the original plot too much to consider it the original AU.

What’s your all-time favourite ship?

There's a hierarchy for me, right? I guess if I had to pick in the typical lovesquare, it would most definitely be Adrienette. I love the idea of Adrien being smitten with Marinette.

But if AUs are allowed in this idea, I really like the idea of a Reverse-Crush Adrien/Lady Noire. It's such a good ship. Ahhh. So good so good. It's literally just Marichat but catgirl instead of catboy. So good.

But... let's be honest with ourselves. If you've actually read my work and know of my work, it comes to no surprise that Lukadrinette is up there as well.

What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

My fic called The Icarus Theory. It's also a Marichat fic, and I spent a great deal of time thinking and planning and tending to this AU. But I've moved on from it, unfortunately. I used a lot of that groundwork in my Sharks and Sugar fic, though. The last scene that Adrien and Lady Noire have together, in the dark, in chapter six is my love letter to The Icarus Theory (I've never told anyone that!)

What are your writing strengths?

I write a lot of words.

What are your writing weaknesses?

I am not good with commas. I use a lot of emdashes, which look like this guy: "—" and I feel like it's almost painful at how obvious it makes my writing look. It makes my writing stick out like a sore thumb. I feel like my work is very stagnant.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I don't like it when people combine a mixture of French and English in a fic, it really takes the immersion out. We know they're speaking French, because they live in France. I don't understand why some people write some sentences in French and then proceed to write in the following lines: "I love it when you speak French to me." What! That doesn't make any sense!

Whenever I've written a word or a phrase that is supposed to show up as in a different language, I usually write it in brackets. Every time Marinette has spoken Mandarin in my fics, I write it something like: "And it's a shame, really, because no one ever knew that I can just [switch languages on the get go, just like this. And you just keep nodding your head, don't you? Pretending that you understand?] But I know you don't understand Mandarin."

hey hey hey i made a mpdsap iceberg a little while back and i thought it would be fun to yell into the void about it, because why not. i havent explained the lore to my followers yet and ill probably reblog this to my main tbh

[little disclaimer that a lot of these are based off of made up lore and ocs on my main account. if youre strictly canon only then i wouldnt recommend this for you. if you’re interested but have no knowledge about said lore, i will give basic explanations]

LAYER 1

Joey Perleoni: joey perleoni is well known as the poster of the anti-piracy videos, who, recently, has involved himself more in the videos. joey in my lore is depicted as mostly emotionless or “empty” with no remorse for his actions.

Mario Party DS Anti-Piracy OST: on the channel, there is pretty convincing fake music for the series, there’s not much else to say about it other than it’s SUPER bangin’

Joey was arrested: in a video titled ‘the police are at my house’, joey is taken in by the police. he is presumably in prison

Luigi is the victim: in all of the videos posted, luigi is the main character, and is often considered the victim of the horrible events happening.

Hex code translations: in the videos, there are several hex codes, which can be translated to several different things. the ones we’ve found are hellsatan, luigimod, thx4luv, watchdemon.jit etc.

Reggie Fils-Amie video: on joey’s channel, his first upload has nothing to do with mpdsap, but rather it’s a video filming a joke reggie made about mother 3. it’s unknown if this is connected or not.

LAYER 2

Joey interview: a user by the name of simonejoys interviewed joey perleoni, he said some pretty interesting things actually, here’s the link if anyone’s interested: https://youtu.be/v6AkkxS9LK4

Luxury station and Quiznos: luxury station is joey’s second account, revolving a few strange videos about a place named quiznos. it’s unknown if this is connected or not

Hudson (the man): in my lore, there is a character named hudson, who inherited the company. he’s considered the person who made the anti-piracy screens, or at least encouraged it strongly. this character is based off of some text in host hoedown, which translates to “hudson - this is not necessary. it will extend the launch considerably.” (also i know hudson is the name of the company but the time i found out it was too late)

“Joey no longer runs the account” theory: there was a theory going around after joey’s arrest that someone else is running the account, since there should be no way he should keep posting. this is probably deconfirmed by now

Joey doesn’t feel much emotion: as stated before, my depiction of joey is that of “mostly emotionless or completely empty”. there is no reason for this currently (it’s kind of a case study at this point tbfh)

DJ Hallyboo is based on MC Ballyhoo: in mario party 8 for the wii, there is a character that bears extreme resemblance to DJ Hallyboo, named MC Ballyhoo. they have the same voice clips used, similar names, and somewhat similar designs. MC Ballyhoo is the host of mario party 8. it is general considered that DJ Hallyboo is a beta version of MC Ballyhoo by fans.

LAYER 3

Electric chair: in the video simply titled “mario party ds anti piracy |”, where joey sits on a chair and boots up mario party ds, a few comments were floating around joking about him getting the electric chair. this hasn’t been confirmed

Hudson and Joey used to be friends: this is mostly outdated now, but there was a joke timeline where hudson and joey were friends in the past. not gonna cover it any further than that because it’s an old concept now

MC Ballyhoo and DJ Hallyboo are the same person: in my lore, the general consensus is that MC Ballyhoo and DJ Hallyboo are the same person, with split personalities. he is also either sentient or extremely aware.

Joey is god: in my lore, there is a mostly bizzare idea that joey is divine and has always been divine. he became “a god” by doing criminal acts, or sacrificing luigi. i can’t tell you if this is canon to my lore or not yet though - it started as a meme, but i really do like the idea somehow.

“Waiter, your finger’s in the soup!”: a mysterious quote with no real meaning that was quoted by joey a couple of times. it is connected to a short comic. nobody has found out what it means yet or why it’s being posted about.

LAYER 4

“Joey does drugs” joke: (TW // DRUG ABUSE)

this joke spawned from something i learned in school. apparently people who abuse illegal drugs gradually start feeling less dopamine doing normal activities over time, due to drug overstimulation. this was jokingly connected to joey’s chronic emptiness and inability to feel anything, with the joke that he does meth or some other illegal drug. it’s also noted that drug abusers are likely to commit other crimes. this is of course, not serious at all.

Joey stole MPDS from mcdonalds: this is a personal theory of mine. mcdonalds and MPDS have absolutely no connection - so why are they attempted to be connected at all? in the video, it describes a demo being sold in happy meals at mcdonalds - it’s a possibility that joey stole the demo from mcdonalds, and doesn’t actually have the full game.

Joey wearing the same clothes as the character: i have drawn joey with a yellow sweater (with orange sleeves) and grey shorts for a while now. in the mcdonalds video, he was wearing nearly the same outfit (with the exception of the shorts being pants). he also has brown hair, which i predicted, but it’s much darker. this is probably a coincidence but it’s pretty freaky honestly.

Techwalker: this will probably be the longest segment in the iceberg and the most lore heavy. techwalker was joey’s old channel. he made extremely different content - mainly of which was just bothering random people on the street and at conventions. he has described himself as a “journalist”, but this is all basically fun and games. these videos are now unlisted and i will not be linking them nor telling you where to find them for privacy reasons. i don’t want to get in trouble. if i find any of yall spreading it around im taking down the post and will probably not talk about this again, you dont want that, i dont want that, nobody wants that really.

in the lore, techwalker is not joey. they are 2 seperate people - but they live in the same body. what this means is that either one can take control at a time - joey is completely numb to everything around him, but tech is a pretty happy go lucky and social person. they have different personalities, morals, names and lead different lives. tech even wears glasses (assuming he has some kind of impaired eyesight), and joey does not.

(this has been confused with dissociative identity disorder. while i don’t mind people interpreting my content in whatever way they’d like, considering this is just fan-lore, this was not the intent. i do not have DID and i don’t want to speak for anyone who has DID.)

the general consensus is that tech is dead, or at least completely drowned out, and joey has taken complete control. joey and tech were practically mortal enemies and polar opposites of each other. (joey constantly being annoyed or uninterested in tech’s hyperactivity, and tech not trusting joey to be responsible or ‘law abiding’)

Thinking about the future of EDGN

I’ve never asked a lot out of my fans over the years, but to some of my close fans (you know who you are), I’d really appreciate some helpful advice because this is an important decision I’m making that will affect both you, the fans, and myself.

To cut a long story short for a tl;dr, I no longer enjoy posting about the voice languages in localised Japanese games because of some recent events and realisations and I want to retire from the English Dubbed Game News page altogether.

It’s been about five years since I started all this with the Koei Warriors Rant Series and since then, everything I’ve done that’s related to English dub has brought me nothing but hate. I know it’s a bit of an exaggeration and some of my close fans may have something to say to the contrary, but I’ve been feeling quite negative lately and because of that, I think it’s a brutally honest summary.

After ending the Dub Logistics series, I thought the one thing I could do to repay my fans for their support over the years was to continue posting on EDGN. Personally, I think I’ve done enough already and also, as I said in a post back in August, I’ve been having doubts about the future of the page and what I want to do with it given my current interests. There are several factors that led to me having these doubts, which I’ll be outlining after the break. (I can’t even put horizontal lines in my posts with the rich text editor now, thanks Tumblr)

1. I was never interested in any game outside of the Koei Warriors series or any game I played in the past (eg. Dissidia Final Fantasy).

This really shouldn’t be a surprise to my fans because in the past, I’ve rarely posted anything outside of the series I was interested in, including the aforementioned series. If I came across something by chance and liked it, then I would do some investigation into it, but these days, the spark just doesn’t want to light up anymore.

I’ve never really taken the chance to buy new games because my family doesn’t believe in buying things that aren’t important and as such, I took that mantra to heart. While I never brought a PS3, I did get a Nintendo Wii, but I traded it in later for a Wii U and not a PS4, which I still regret to this day. I pirated my PSP, DS and PC games (let’s face it, who doesn’t) and played with emulators on my computer. I only got a Steam account to play Team Fortress 2 (laggy though it was on my shitty computer) and I never brought anything from it, which made it difficult for me to add friends on there (not that they really cared in the end).

By extension, this applies to anime as well, which is the reason why I never post anything outside of the same few animes on the Waifu Network or on my Facebook pages. My belief on sexism in anime has also contributed to this disinterest; the only reason why I’m still posting the same few animes is because I’m still somewhat interested in them and I’m grateful for how they inspired some personal projects of mine.

2. Various factors have led me to lose interest in video games, including the Koei Warriors Series.

The reason why I started my dub crusade in the first place was because of Warriors Orochi 3 (Ultimate) and Samurai Warriors 4 not being dubbed. The reason why I decided to jump ship was because of Dynasty Warriors 9 being dubbed, just not with the same cast I had grown to love. I know that there were extenuating circumstances for the latter, but given everything that happened between that time, my hope that the old English voice cast (since Dynasty Warriors 4-6/Warriors Orochi 1-2) would return to voice that game (and other future games) was gone.

In addition to the previous factor, I started to find myself with more commitments than I had in past years, along with some different interests that I picked up along the way. At first, I didn’t feel like playing games because of my commitments, but eventually, it got to the point where I didn’t want to play most video games again because of the disappointment I’ve experienced from Koei Tecmo. Learning about all the things that AAA gaming companies do to reduce expenditure and increase revenue turned me off from video games as well. In my opinion, it wasn’t so much a boycott (per se) than it was a loss of interest.

3. The original group of people who inspired me to start writing these rants are now gone.

I know I’ve had other fans since the start of all this, but the original group had a special place in all this because of it. There were four people in the original group, who I met on Koei’s original Facebook page, and they were as follows:

The first one did comment on my older stuff, but he left quite early, possibly since DW8E’s release. I saw that he deactivated his account some time in 2017.

The second one had a YouTube channel and he was an admin on one of my Facebook pages for some time, but then he left after a period of inactivity without any explanation.

The third one was the more prominent because of his LGBT status and mental health issues. In the middle of 2015, he announced to everyone that he was deactivating his Facebook account because it was a burden on his mental health. He reactivated his account some time later, but he deactivated it again in September 2017 and hasn’t come back since. During that time, I saw a post from him stating that he was going to take a lot of pills and commit suicide. I reported it to Facebook in the hope that it might encourage him to find some help, even though I remember him stating that nothing works for him anymore. When I noticed that he hadn’t come back to Facebook months after he deactivated his account the second time, I assumed the worst.

The fourth one, also known as the family man or “the last one standing”, deactivated his account in June this year. We never really talked much, but as I said in this post, I’m still grateful to him for helping me find the new weapon and Musou information in DW8E when the Koei Wiki didn’t have it yet (because the game was just released at the time).

4. The impact of the feud’s aftermath still haunts me to this day.

When I agreed to end the feud on a mutual understanding a couple of years back, I promised myself that I would quickly move on from the troll behind it and not keep reminding myself of everything that happened. However, I’m a person that’s prone to anxiety when I think of worst-case-scenarios and at times, I found myself thinking about what would have happened had my Facebook account been deleted just because a troll couldn’t take the L when he got owned by someone half his age (compare that to Leafy who made terrible criticisms of people who are older than him, then claimed that he can hide behind the fact that he is younger than them). Him coming back out of nowhere earlier this year didn’t do any favours for anyone either. Regardless of that, I’ve got my bottom ground and I’ll continue to live on it regardless of what anyone else thinks of me.

I’d like to take a moment to digress and talk about cancel culture and political censorship. Because both parties in the feud weren’t exactly that popular (we had our own little fanbases, but that’s it), me and the other party “cancelling” each other (admittedly) didn’t seem to have as much an effect as we had hoped. Other factors that contributed to this could be that cancel culture (an extension to call-out culture) wasn’t that much of a thing two years ago and when the other party tried to cancel me, he made no attempt to spread the word to his fans. It was likely that he was trying to show mercy, but that doesn’t explain why he kept reporting my posts relating to him and current events in Hong Kong, knowing that I would eventually get banned if I didn’t call him out on it. I was as much a victim than I admittedly was an offender of cancel culture.

Following the feud, I’ve become wary of social media censorship because I experienced what it was like for someone to get petty and get people deplatformed by mass reporting them. Other pages like meme pages have suffered the same fate in the past (mostly because people take certain jokes too seriously), but despite my hopes, it didn’t seem like Facebook was going to do anything about the petty mass-reporting of those pages. Recently, however, I’ve been seeing news on tech companies being grilled over the censorship of conservatives and President Trump criticising them for the same thing. I’m not saying that I’m supporting Trump backing the pages that are being censored (conservative, far-right, alt-right, you name it), but I hope that this can hopefully extend to random meme pages being reported for petty reasons.

5. Ever since I decided to stop being toxic, I found myself conflicted when confronted with more toxic comments to the point that I’ve started to become paranoid over negative criticism.

When I decided to change the #NoDubNoBuy page to EDGN, I hoped that the hate towards my page would be reduced somewhat, but I never expected that it would be gone entirely. Since then, three people have made negative comments on the page; one was a girl who saw one of my posts being shared on a private group, misunderstood the (new) purpose of the page and despite her attitude, was still somewhat respectful, one was a Europoor dub hater from Spain (from what I’ve seen and learnt, Europeans tend to be sub fans and/or dub haters because of their English comprehension and ability to read subtitles) and one was an Americuck soyboy dub hater who pointed out about “crybaby fans” (”fans” as in the gatekeeping term “fake fans”, never mind my theory that people, especially men, who call other people, especially other men, “crybabies” are actually spreading toxic masculinity) who liked stuff to be Americanised but didn’t acknowledge the Japanese origins.

I’m gonna go off on a tangent and do a bit of an ad-homimem here (but it’s alright because I’m going to rebut his point next) and point out that I called the Americuck a soyboy because he had quite a long beard, but to be honest, if I called everyone who had beards “soyboys”, that would make people like Count Dankula and Sargon of Akkad “soyboys” as well, so it’d be a pretty slippery slope if I didn’t clarify who I was talking about.

Now, I’m going to move back on another tangent and rebut the soyboy’s point, because I think this is a pretty important point to address. No one is saying outright that they want Japanese games to be Americanised in terms of cultural references (if 4Kids has taught us anything). Saying that Americanisation is responsible for bad dubbing is a bit like blaming video games for causing violence. If someone says that they would like a game to be dubbed into English in localisation, then it is presumed that they want the dialogue to be dubbed in addition to the text being translated (or “dublated”). Any cultural changes made to the game or the dialogue are entirely the responsibility of those who made those changes, like the gaming companies who censor stuff for Western audiences, so if you’re complaining about a Japanese game being too “Americanised”, don’t take it out on dub fans because chances are that they didn’t want the dub to be too “Americanised” either.

Completing the square and going back to the original tangent, I didn’t post any of their comments to the dub hater comments album because I had deleted it after the feud in the hope that I wouldn’t be as toxic as I had been before. You can probably already see how toxic I would probably be if the above responses were posted on the page and directed back at them, which would mean that I’m not upholding myself to the standards I wanted to follow.

6. I’m becoming more and more concerned about current events to worry about things like English dubbing in video games.

If you’re someone who has unironically thought that I was making a big deal over something you thought was minor, then this is going to sound very ironic for you. From all these years of learning and research, I’ve attained an expansive world view and while I have made jokes about current events in the past to lighten the mood or express my anger, deep down I’m actually concerned about these things, particularly in regards to Hong Kong during this politically sensitive time.

For some reason, my desire to make posts has decreased because in addition to the above factors, I’ve been getting more and more worried about current affairs. Granted, the point of things like anime and video games and the Internet is to provide an escape from reality, but in the end, I guess that you have to face it whether you like it or not.

Making the decision to stop posting on EDGN hasn’t been an easy one, but all the factors I described above have gradually made it easier. Like the Undub page did, I had considered changing the focus of my page to merely report on the voice languages of games without saying whether we approve or reject it because it isn’t dubbed in English/Japanese; that is, we report on them with an unbiased viewpoint. Not adding excessively biased pro-dub comments on our posts has made it more neutral, but in the end, it didn’t stop the dub hater cucks. I should point out that one of the reasons why I wanted to change the #NoDubNoBuy page to EDGN was so that we could reduce the amount of hate we were getting.

What was the original goal of me starting this dub crusade? If you have read my rants in the past, then you will have picked up my hopes that Japanese games would be localised to the West with full Japanese and English dubbing and that if game companies couldn’t achieve that, then they should apologise and explain why. Would I say that I achieved or failed to achieve this goal? Not really, because over the years, I learnt a lot about the video game and voiceover industries and gradually realised that it’s not as straightforward as I had initially hoped. To be honest, it was kind of stupid of me to hope that gaming companies would say anything straightforward about this, but on the other hand, I learnt that gaming companies are like politicians as well; they say the things they want to say and not the things people want to hear.

To my fans, particularly my close fans, feel free to send me your opinions about my decision, however if you’re trying to change my mind, then I’m not sure if it can be changed so easily. If you think that I haven’t lived up to what you expect from me, then I’m sorry, but in the end, I have to think of myself as well.

If I could say one thing to the dub fanbase, I want to ask why no one else has ever tried to do something like EDGN. You have your groups and pages on social media and yet, it had to take two people pissed off with the dubbing direction of gaming companies to do it. Granted, that was how the Undub page started, with the lack of Japanese voices in localised games, and yet they didn’t get as much hate as my page did.

If there is anyone out there who wants to follow in my footsteps and make a page like EDGN, let me be the first to give you my blessing because I’m not going to be like the Undub page when they discovered us and point fingers for copying their posts when in the end, games are the same to everyone. While transparency regarding voice languages has increased over the years, there was never a place where dub fans could know about what games were dubbed in English. You don’t have to be like me and make a series of rants about why some games aren’t dubbed, because I’ve already done it, but instead, I suggest going the unbiased route as I stated earlier. Of course, you don’t have to follow my advice - it’s your page, after all.

My plan is to retire from EDGN at the end of the year. I have 12 more games in the backlog, all with English voices, and I’m hoping to post them all on the page before then. I probably won’t remove myself as an admin (because I think there’ll be some petty, obsessed cuck who’ll dig out my posts and make a rant series on me or something), but I’ll probably have it so that I can forget about the page as time goes on.

With this, my dub crusade has come to an end. Once again, to the fans, I’m sorry and I thank you for your support. As always, it is your choice as to whether you wish to continue following me, whether on Facebook or Tumblr, after my retirement.

Dream: NanoBytes World

The dream began. I was walking through a lumber yard. Except, it wasn’t your ordinary dirty, dusty, mucky lumber yard. Everything was clean and smooth. My cliché futuristic scheme glossed over everything making it shine. I also noticed the walls that normally enclose the place had been enlarged and expanded. I was walking with two old friends from High School. Alex and Katelyn. They were newbies being trained in by myself. We were talking and doing the typical tour of the grounds.

We came across the manager who was wearing a bikini. She was having her own walk and talk with suits. We kept eyeing each other smiling. No one else seemed to notice. After we both concluded with our groups she walked over to me. She invited me to go swimming with her. We walked from the lumber yard passed a movie theater and stepped into an elevator. I noticed that there was additional buttons for sideways. We were in some utopia that had an all-directional elevator. I was marveled but the fascination keep rising when the doors opened as we reached the top. We arrived at a crystal clear swimming pool park. The water was a cyan blue, like the water in the Bahamas. Or perhaps it only looked that way because of the white panels under the water. It looked so clean and pure.

It was a theme park. I could see people, roller-coasters, food stands, and other exotic attractions. The swimming area was built right over some of the walk ways. Water slides, wave pools, there even was a section that looked like a skate park; lots of little pools for families but nearly connecting. My manager led me by the hand still grinning. I could hardly notice except when to look at her and where I was walking to make sure I didn’t fall. The park reached as far as I could see. But it all shared the same, while paneled theme of the future.

The primary colors were white, but each section of the park had secondary color liners. Like the swim park had everything lined in blue. White and blue banners, and walkways. Blue lights. The theme park with roller-coasters and other mechanical rides was white and red. There was a jungle safari with white and green. Very thin notices in the color to tell you where you were. And white and yellow for the food court. The farthest and biggest section was the red. Food court was in the middle and safari was off to my right near the lumber yard where we came from. There also was an aquarium under the pool park. And an arcade in the food court.

The park also had a housing district. Paneled purple. Think of the park like Westworld. A state-wide park. People would come to the park, rent the house for the summer and wake up every day to explore a section. Nature, relax in the pools, or ride the themed park rides. Each section had its levels too. Underground kid-park with minor rides and science exhibits. Play grounds. Every different kind of food available. All together like a strip mall but, a large strip mall? There was laser tag, bumper cars, even a section of the nature where you could drive your own golf carts across the way. Forests to walk, savannahs to roam, mountains to climb. The pool section had a beach too if you wanted something more natural. If you think of it, they had it. All enclosed with the security and freedom of being in-doors.

My manager and I found a vacant family pool and dropped into it. The water was the perfect temperature too. Alex and Katelyn found us again, this time in their swim suits and joined us. I wasn’t bothered but it looked like my manager was. She had a red and black swimsuit, blonde hair tied in a ponytail, and a tall fit body. After a moment everyone started to hum and gradually build into a song.

The pool we were at was near the edge that leaned over the park belong. I held my arm over the edge of the water and stared at the people below. I don’t remember how. But I fell. From the Sun in the sky, and all the white paneled floors and walls. Something changed. The panels went black. The world seemed to open up to me. As I fell, the floor gave way into the core of the world. But it opened like small pixels. When I landed, I cut myself on sharp crystals like glass. Nanytes. Nanobytes. Tiny computer machines that could build anything you wanted. All you had to do was program them. That’s how they made the park. They programmed the density and the robots would create the object. Except I fell into the processor. I could feel the nanytes coursing through me as they entered the cuts on my arm. I was only beginning to understand what might happen.

I found my way to the surface again but the panels were still black, and even the sky darkened. The Sun was out but so were the stars. The bright blue sky hid behind a sheet of black painted sky. The people were evacuating and these police-type, riot shielded, black armored, men came out and surrounded me. They must have known I violated some type of law. They tried to arrest me, but seeing that I fell, I’m a victim. I refused. There was a small struggle before someone’s gun went off and blew off my right hand.

Then the air stood still. The police stepped away and the conflict’s tension rose but in a motionless trance. I stared at the space my hand used to be. I also noticed that my arm looked like below. It reminded me of Tron. The crystalized data when someone dies or Quorra’s arm when it got deleted to bits. Mine wasn’t a straight cut but it looked pixelated. I could see the nanytes working to create a new hand already. In moments my hand was back. I was spinning it, bending my fingers to inspect the job they had done.

Everything felt normal. I clutched my hand to make a fist then looked up at the men staring in horror. “Now now, let us not do anything rash.” I spoke in a deep, calming voice. Putting my hands in front of me to mean no harm. They all raised their guns simultaneously. I pulled out my tiny shield amplifier. Something that looked like the nun chuck from the Wii. Just the small rounded handle part. It clung to my arm and when I pressed the trigger it would power a small shield on my arm.

I readied it for the oncoming blast of energy weapons. The shield, when energized, reminded me of Stephen strange’s orange circle of magical energy. After a few seconds of the barrage of blasts my shield blinked giving me the warning it was about to break. When it did I prepared myself for the worst. Except my body was able to create its own shield without the apparatus. The blaster fire stopped. The men tried to make sense of this new threat. I was trying to understand it myself. Anything I seemed to think, happened. I wanted my arm back, it came back. I wanted my shield to stay up, and it is.

The nanobytes are listening to me. They must have followed my bloodstream and entered my brain. Now my brain acts as a processor, and it must be more powerful than their computer so that they listen to me and not their inherit programming. To test my theory, I thought about teleporting somewhere else. I watched my body sink into the nanytes of the floor, brick by brick of this digital data, my body vanished. And then nearly 20 meters away my body again would build it up, centimeter by centimeter. Each atom in my body now replaced by millions of nanytes. I thought, how could I ever be whole again, did they recreate my body or is this a new one? I felt new.

The rest of the dream was mostly me running from these men. Shooting me down. I would instantly create paths across thin air by commanding the nanytes. I would open floors to lower ones that would drop a few of the men chasing me. I was a god and yet they still pursued me. Then eventually got me cornered in the park and shot a rocket at me. Exploded every nanyte in my body. Except I still existed. My mind had been replaced as well. As long as a single nanyte existed my memory would be passed through them all.

I recreated my body again. Watching it build my limbs from the tiny pieces of data. The grid and I are one. I decided it would be best to ensure I don’t die. So I had the nanytes at the bottom floor create a machine to create more nanytes. More and more I became self-sufficient. Going to the surface to purge the men who threated my existence. By this time I realized I hadn’t seen a single guest since my fall. But either way, I wasn’t going to let them take my world. I couldn’t offer much fight against the energy weapons. I’d be blasted open. But with the ability to rebuild and never die. All I had to do was exhaust my opponent. I started to shoot out nanyte spears. But nothing was really effective against them.

This “war” lasted a few months. Until one morning I met with suit. It was Rachel from Orphan Black. She spoke like Ford from Westworld. Talking about creation and that this was her dream. She showed me a picture of the maze. Except instead of the strange piece in the middle, it was Brimm’s sigil.

I don’t remember how I woke up, but as inevitable as it was, I did.
