Do you guys ever think about that scene in trk when it's during half time of the game where Andrew is playing both halves and he looks as depressed as he normally does when he's off his meds and Neil is so annoyed with him and his indifference toward exy that he actually blurts out "stop that!" And everyone stops talking to stare at him. Andrew says "I'm not doing anything" and Neil is like "exactly" and then he's just like whatever no time for this and moves on.

How baffling must that have been for literally everyone else in the room??? This is the thing about reading the books from Neil's perspective because half of his thoughts never get verbalized and he just starts talking when he's already had most of the conversation in his head. We know what he's talking about because we have a direct view of his thoughts but everyone else is in the dark and I think the comedic potential is so good but imagine actually witnessing something like Neil Josten?

He does it a few times throughout the books, I think he does it to Dan and Matt twice and I can't imagine being in their position like oh oh he's finally talking and I didn't understand what he was referring to at all back up, Neil, what are you on about???

Half the time the other characters just give him a look that I assume is very confused and he goes "oh right" and backtracks but when he has any strong emotion happening he almost never goes back and explains himself. I think the first time he does it is when he confronts Kevin over Andrew going through his stuff and he just starts talking and everyone is like ????
