2021 Megaman Valentine’s Day Contest - Rules Thread *CLOSED*
Welcome to year #14 of my mostly-annual Megaman Valentine’s Day Fanart Contest!
Two categories, in which you are allowed to submit one entry for each category, if you would like. If you place in one category, you will be automatically disqualified from the other, for reasons of fairness, and to give other people a chance to win a prize.
CATEGORY 1: Kiss From a Rosered (Talent)
Baby, I compare you to a kiss from a Rosered on Nebula Grey Ooh, the more I think of it, the stranger it feels, yeah And now here to give a rose to Split Mushroom A light hits the room on Jet Stingraaaaayyyyy~
Ba-da-da, ba-da-da-da-da-da, ba-da-da
For this category, your goal is to create a scene between the Megaman characters of your choice involving roses being given to one's Valentine. Simple enough, right? But there is a little twist. For those who don't know, the color of the rose actually has some meaning behind it. We are all used to the standard red rose as a symbol of love more than anything. But just as there are different forms of love, there are different concepts these various colors can represent, when giving someone you love flowers.
The other part of the challenge for this talent category will be your use of color in your pic. Just as you choose a color to convey meaning with this rose, and theme your scene in a similar manner, I'd also like to see you utilize this color as the strongest within your piece.
So, while I don't expect all of these submissions to be purely monochromatic, or a single hue when coloring, your goal will be to try to make your art have your rose color as the dominant color in your piece. Whether that means the characters you choose are predominantly that color too, or, they have a pallette change with their outfit/armor/etc. to echo or help contrast the color theme.
Content Requirements:
* Megaman characters of your choice giving roses to their special someone on Valentine's Day
* Utilizing the symbolism of specific rose colors within your artwork (see a list with examples here: https://www.proflowers.com/blog/rose-color-meanings) to help set the scene.
For example, if you are using purple roses, it often represents love at first sight. Your artwork should convey characters involved in a love at first sight scene.
* When coloring your art, keeping the color of the rose you chose to also be the predominant color of the piece. (This does not mean you have to stick to a single hue when coloring. You are free to be as creative as you can with this in mind!)
* Judging will take all of these content requirements into consideration, and how well you are able to mesh all of them together in your piece.
CATEGORY 2: Kawaai-rimi (Humor)
From lining store shelves this time of year, to carnival prizes, or even life-size 30th Anniversary editions, there's nothing that says love like a soft, cuddly plush character to snuggle.
One of the more memorable Mega Man plushes comes from the Battle Network series, specifically the kawarimi/anti-damage doll of Megaman.EXE. So, using that as the basis for this category, your job will be to create a Valentine's Day-themed plush of a Megaman character. But again, with a little twist.
The Megaman character of your choice is in a scenario where they need to give a gift to their sweetheart, and they need one very quick. Who pops up to help? Why, it's Shadow Man (or any ninja character from any Megaman series of your choice)! To help this character in a bind, your ninja character instantaneously produces a specially-made Valentine's kawarimi plush. Your character can then give this plush doll to his or her Valentine.
For example, a cute little Sir Crescent Grizzly bear, who just wants to hug-a-lot with his sharp claws, or a charming Toad prince, who wants to give kisses with a little tongue. Have fun thinking of funny, but cute plush concepts!
Content Requirements:
* A Megaman-related character created in Valentine's Day plush form. Draw the most clever, unique and hilarious design for this plush
* A ninja character in the scene, who can instantly produce this plush for your character who is in a bind to give a gift to his crush
* As this is the humor category, judging will be based primarily on how funny your piece is. Creativity, concept and execution may get you some points, but the focus of this category is how you make us laugh!
PRIZES:
Due to Covid still causing havoc around the world, physical prizes are going to be a little tougher, with some regions still seeing postal restrictions. So the main prizes for winners will still likely be cash, sent via Paypal.
The winners for both the Talent and Humor categories will receive the following:
1st Place: $100 USD 2nd Place: $75 USD 3rd Place: $50 USD
(...as long as I don't bankrupt myself helping with a certain auction before this...*ahem*)
PARTICIPATION PRIZE RAFFLE:
However, I am still going to try to give away 2 cels in another participation prize raffle this year. I don't want to limit this to US entrants only, although given the circumstances, it might be hard to send to certain countries. I will certainly try to send either of these worldwide. But just know it may depend on postal regulations, as the ripple effects of this awful virus continue into the following months.
In any case, when you submit, please mention which cel you would like to be entered into the raffle for.
If you draw a pic for both the Humor and the Talent Categories, you can double your chances to win! (Odds of course, depending on how many others enter and also draw two pics.) You will be able to add your name into the drawing a second time for the prize you are most interested in, or have a chance at both!
Raffle Prize #1 – Captain N Mega Man with genie lamp
Raffle Prize #2 – Captain N 'Cuts Man'
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
When you submit, I would prefer you to include the following information in this format, along with your entry:
• (Your name/preferred alias) – As much as I usually know who you are, there’s always someone new or somebody who has a different preference from what their email name says.
• (Category this entry is for) – You can either say 1 or 2, or Talent/Humor
• (Participation Prize Eligibility) – Again, you can say either 1 or 2, or Mega Man/Cut Man
In the event you are submitting your second entry, please specify which cel you would like your bonus chance in the raffle to be put towards.
Only submit your own work, as usual. Any character, major or minor, from any series is allowed. Pairing characters from different series is totally allowed. Same-gender pairings are completely fine. OCs are allowed, as long as your art contains at least one canon Megaman character.
As always, participants are allowed to submit from all over the world.
Paypal is still the preferred method for cash prize payouts. Please have a valid account to receive your winnings.
Youngin's, get your parents permission before entering.
Entries do not need to be fully colored, but it is preferred. The more effort put into things, as always, the better chance you have!
Entries can either be e-mailed to me at rock2125[at]hotmail[dot]com, or you can just PM/note me a link to your pic.
DO NOT post your pics in this journal, your dA galleries, Twitter, tumblr blogs, other sites, etc. until the contest is over. This is the fairest way for competitive reasons. I prefer to keep them all secret until the deadline has passed.
I'll edit a confirmed entry list in this thread when I receive them. So you won't be in the dark about whether or not I've received your entry.
DEADLINE:
The deadline for this contest will be Saturday, February 13th, 2021 by 11:59PM (global end of the day). This gives you a little more than 5 weeks to finish your entry!
MISCELLANEOUS INFO:
- As usual, If you don't plan to enter, but would like to help me judge, please let me know through DM or mention so here. Never hurts to have extra opinions on all the entries.
Bug me with questions if you have any. Please join in, and good luck to everyone who enters!
Confirmed Entries:
Cat. 1 - Forceway, @dragonmarquise, @digitallyfanged, donnie, abilityfield, @aw-colorcat, Mattasaurs, Dark-Dullahan, Sapphire Cat. 2 - Mattasaurs, ColeManX, @destinywillowleaf

The Ascent Of Money by Niall Ferguson is an introduction to modern finance and the rise of money lending, presenting a favorable view of their effects upon the world.
…financial innovation has been an indispensable factor in man’s advance from wretched subsistence to the giddy heights of material prosperity that so many people know today.
…poverty is not the result of rapacious financiers exploiting the poor. It has much more to do with the lack of financial institutions, with the absence of banks, not their presence. Only when borrowers have access to efficient credit networks can they escape from the clutches of loan sharks, and only when savers can deposit their money in reliable banks can it be channeled from the idle rich to the industrious poor.
…approximately $1 of every $14 paid to employees in the United States now goes to people working in finance. Finance is even more important in Britain, where it accounted for 9.4% of GDP in 2006.
The book gives an interesting history of some of the world’s most famous bankers and the power they accumulated, particularly the Medicis and Rothchilds, who brought value by facilitating trade and commerce while reducing transaction prices. It also described the role of European bankers during the American Civil War.
Though others had tried before them, the Medici were the first bankers to make the transition from financial success to hereditary status and power They achieved this by learning a crucial lesson: in finance small is seldom beautiful. By making their bank bigger and more diversified than any previous financial institution, they found a way of spreading their risk.
One of the biggest financial innovations was fractional reserve banking, pioneered by the Swedes. Other European countries improved finance while the Spaniards, still obsessed with silver and gold in their American colonies, kept defaulting time and time again, not understanding that the true nature of money lay in debt and not mineral reserves. One of the more interesting parts of the book was its description of the bond market and its powerful stranglehold on world governments.
…the bond market is powerful partly because it passes a daily judgement on the credibility of every government’s fiscal and monetary policies. But its real power lies in its ability to punish a government with higher borrowing costs. Even an upward move of half a percentage point can hurt a government that is running a deficit, adding higher debt service to its already high expenditures.
…countries that defaulted on their debts risk economic sanctions, the imposition of foreign control over their finances and even, in at least five cases, military intervention.
While the book paints a rosy view of finance, it also highlights cases where the abuse of it through hook and crook caused problems for entire economies, particularly through price inflation. A recent example of that was Goldman Sachs’ commodity manipulation that caused the price of common foodstuffs to rise. On the other hand, ignoring finance and having inflexible monetary policy can turn recessions into depressions. He suggests that Helicopter Ben Bernanke actually did the right thing in showering Wall Street with money to prevent a depression. He also thinks Alan Greenspan is a great man for admitting he shouldn’t have kept interest rates so low.
Economies that combined all these institutional innovations—banks, bond markets, stock markets, insurance and property-owning democracy—performed better over the long run than those that did not, because financial intermediation generally permits a more efficient allocation of resources then, say, feudalism or central planning. For this reason, it is not wholly surprising that the Western financial model tended to spread around the world, first in the guise of imperialism, and then in the guise of globalization.
You’ll also read about:
The abysmal effects of Britain’s weflare system on their economy
Argentina’s failed destiny to become an economic superpower due to bad economic decisions and poor leadership
How the “risk free” LTCM fund imploded and almost took the world economy with it
My problem with the book is that his explanations were too light. He glossed over tough concepts like sovereign bonds and other financial instruments without providing much in the way of examples, unlike a writer such as Matt Taibbi who explains the most complex concept in a way that laymen can understand. I felt like I had to read this book in front of Google so that I could look up things he mentioned only in passing.
The book also seemed hurried with its historical research, especially towards the end when it become a jumbled mess. Overall it’s an okay book but I don’t recommend it for the neophyte.
…it’s not owning property that gives you security; it just gives your creditors security. Real security comes from having a steady income.

https://www.returnofkings.com/10595/there-is-no-hedge-against-inflation
You’ve seen him: an older man sitting next to a roaring fire or maybe walking the grounds of his ranch or he might be in a suit facing the camera. The messages are all the same: something about “troubling times” and “safety and security” —maybe they mention the federal reserve or money printing. Times are bad and could get worse, but they can help you. They have the answer. What is this company selling? GOLD.
Why would you want a gold coin or bar? It doesn’t earn interest and it doesn’t grow or produce anything. It is vulnerable to theft. The price can move down with astonishing speed as we saw last April (as of the time of this writing it has retraced over 50% of that selloff). But could it go up in value, could it “skyrocket” as the gold shills say?
Keep in mind that gold has already gone up a lot recently, about fivefold in the past ten years. And to simply say that gold is a hedge against inflation is misleading. If you compare the price today, let’s say $1500 per oz, to the average price in 1974, about $150/oz, it actually exceeded inflation. Using CPI over this period gold’s value increased at about double the rate of inflation. However, if you bought gold in 1980, average price that year about $600/oz, you’d have to wait until 2006 for the price to come back to that level and not inflation adjusted dollars either (inflation destroyed about 65% of the purchasing power in that timeframe – and this is using CPI which notoriously understates real world prices). Gold prices and inflation are not as closely correlated as the gold sellers would have you think.
But what about “these troubling times”? It’s different now, right? It might be. This is basically what they’re talking about: the federal government and the federal reserve have been acting in tandem to recapitalize the U.S. economy after the 2008 crisis. The government has been spending like crazy and running huge deficits (and buying lots of votes, funny how that works out for them). These deficits are financed by the issuing of bonds of which the federal reserve bank has been the main buyer under the guise of Quantitative Easing and the Zero Interest Rate Policy. This what they mean by printing money – the fed can buy whatever it wants and it has been buying these bonds that are loans to the government.
The Fed doesn’t need money, rather, it creates it. It is the central bank and it can just put the bonds on its balance sheet. A lot of people, this author included, think the government and the Fed are nuts to think that this course would enable economic growth and it will probably only lead to inflation which could become severe and maybe uncontrollable. Without turning this into a financial doomer article, let’s just say both sides make their case and we won’t know which one is right until this QE and ZIRP experiment is over.
This is what it comes down to: if the price of gold in dollars goes exponential in a hyperinflationary situation everything else priced in dollars is going to do the same. You can’t expect that your gold coin will buy the same goods that it would buy now if this happens. The actual purchasing power of your gold will surely decline as day-to-day essentials become prioritized. Put another way, if 1500 this week buys you one gold coin or 250 basic meals, in a hyperinflationary situation that gold coin might exchange for the equivalent of 100 meals or maybe not even twenty. Of course, 1500 in a bank account or your mattress would be worth much less – maybe not even one meal. The possible hyperinflation scenario is the most compelling reason to hold gold now. It’s not about getting rich. It’s about retaining some savings in the face of a massive financial collapse.
In reality, nothing keeps up with inflation like you will want. Agriculture futures are seasonal and your position has to be rolled over every so often costing you fees and changing your cost basis. Your inflation hedge could get destroyed by a good harvest or weak global demand. Stocks are typically seen as an inflation hedge but in a real collapse your brokerage company or even your local bank might not even exist anymore. You may eventually be made whole on the companies you own but this will take years.
Outside of a financial crisis the case for gold is weak. If you’re holding gold the best case scenario is unclear. Perhaps the price rises faster than inflation but that’s probably a longshot. Consider that if interest rates start to rise, if the Fed sees the light on the harm ZIRP is doing, and if inflation is mild then those holding gold are going to be screwed as many decide to sell, preferring actual cash. Expect gold to lose at least 30% from today’s prices and it could happen in a day or two. Don’t expect your dealer to give you a good price or even answer your call or email if everyone comes in selling.
The risk of gold losing value in the face of an improving economy is something you need to be aware of and in a crisis it won’t provide the kind of financial safety that the gold bugs allege. If you still need a place to park your savings you might consider silver. It’s incrementally cheaper to get into and has more industrial value than gold though it is historically more volatile. Or what about booze? A case of good whiskey or rum is highly barterable, doesn’t spoil, tracks inflation as well as anything, and if times get better (or worse), you can always drink it.

4. If your friend visits coinbase.com/trade and initiates a buy or sell of $100 USD or more (or 100 USD equivalent of your domestic currency) within 180 days of opening his or her account, you both will receive a 10 USD (or 10 USD equivalent of your domestic currency) referral bonus when the order completes. Orders can take up to 4 business days to complete.

This includes, but is not limited to, bidding or running ads on search brand keywords that include 'Coinbase' or similar variations and using 'Coinbase' branded terms in your ad copy, is not appropriate. Referrers who engage in such activities will have their referral codes deactivated and all referrals resulting from such activities are ineligible for referral payments.
Why did my referral bonus not show up?
There are a few possible reasons:
* The referred customer must have signed up after clicking your referral link (and if they clicked multiple referral links they must have clicked your link last).
* The referred customer must use https://www.coinbase.com/trade to complete their qualifying order; any orders placed on Coinbase Pro will not count
* Referral bonuses are only paid if the person you referred verifies their account and initiates a buy or sell of $100 of or more. The buy or sell has to complete (meaning the funds are delivered to the account). Buys can take up to four business days to complete. The amount can be a cumulative $100 (it can happen over multiple purchases). The payout will typically arrive about 10 minutes after this.
* It can take some time for payments to go out, and they may not arrive immediately.
* We check for duplicate or fake accounts and don't pay out referral bonuses on these accounts. Duplicate or shared financials will cause disqualification.
* If a referred user fails to complete the requirements to obtain a bonus within 180 days of opening his or her account, neither party will receive a bonus.
Important Notice:
Unfortunately we can't guarantee payout on every account you refer due to the limitations mentioned above and risk of fraud, but we make a good faith effort to do so whenever possible.
In addition, Coinbase reserves the right to change the terms of the referral program at any time due to changing market conditions, risk of fraud, or other reasons. By participating in the referral program you acknowledge that receiving payouts is not guaranteed by Coinbase

Detailed Rules
Binance has upgraded our Referral Program! Invite your friends to register and trade on Binance.com, and you and your friends can share up to 40% of the referral commissions from their trading fees.
Rules:
Inviters can choose to share a portion of the commissions received from the trading fees of the friends they invite, as a “kickback”. Inviters can set the sharing rates as follows:
1. If the inviter’s daily average BNB account balance is less than 500 BNB and their base referral rate is 20%, they can choose to share 0%, 5% or 10% with the friends they invite.
2. If the inviter’s daily average BNB account balance is 500 BNB or more, their base referral rate is increased to 40%, and they can choose to share 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% or 20% with the friends they invite.
3. Daily average BNB Balance Calculation Rules: here
Effective as of 2019/08/28 0:00 AM (UTC)
Details:
1. All referral commissions (both those received by inviters and those shared with their invited friends) are calculated in real-time and transferred to the respective Binance accounts every hour.
2. The settlement assets of referral commissions are the same as the commission fee generated by the actual transaction of the invited friend (invitee). If the invitee uses the BNB deduction fee, the settlement assets of referral commissions and referral commissions returned are BNB.
3. Referral rates are calculated at 0:00 AM every day, and updated at 1:00 AM (UTC)
4. In order for an invited friend to receive a kickback, they must register using the corresponding referral link (or QR code or referral ID). If they register using the old ID code of the person who invited them, instead of via the link, they will not receive any of the commission fee kickback offered to them by their inviter.
5. There is no limit to the number of friends a single account can invite.
6. If the inviter's daily average BNB balance is less than 500 BNB, their base referral rate will be reduced from 40% to 20%. At this time, the percentage allotted to the invited friend will be given priority, and his/her rate will remain unchanged. For instance, if the inviter's referral rate is reduced to 20% at this time, the invited friend will continue to maintain a 15% return rate, and the inviter's referral rate will be reduced to 5%.
7. Sub-accounts and margin accounts will take on the same percentage rules that apply to the spot account. For instance, the inviter will benefit from referring the invited friend’s sub-account and margin account. The invited friend’s sub-account and margin account will also enjoy the same rate he/she would get for a spot account. In the current set-up, the referral rate for the invited friend will be directly settled to the corresponding sub-account or margin account;
8. Binance may adjust the proportion of referrals at any point and reserves the right to adjust the rules of the referral program.
9. Binance does not allow any user to self-invite through multiple accounts. Once such activity has been detected, all referrals will be canceled and all referral commission kickbacks for the invitee’s accounts will be canceled.
10. Additional guidelines of canceling the referral: here
Important Notice:
Binance reserves the right to change the terms of the referral program at any time due to changing market conditions, risk of fraud, or any other factors we deem relevant.

Rules of the Referral Bonus Program
1. The referral will receive the corresponding Referral Bonus from the transaction fee, each time the invitee completes the registration.
2. Each referral will be valid for one year starting from the registration date of your invitee.
3. Referral Bonus = Invitee’s transaction amount of each tokens * Transaction fee rate * Referral Bonus rate * Average price of KCS.

affiloblueprint
What Is It?
It is a membership site devised to help you understand affiliate marketing.
Short Review
An honest site, good training, mostly legit info, and they have way more value than most internet marketing products. Plus, their basic membership does not cost anything!
However, when you begin buying their packages, it gets pretty expensive, especially when you buy everything they've to offer. When you conider that the community is not a whole lot active, and support is a very small amount in comparison with alternatives.
Before making a decision, have a look inside their affiliates area and then judge if extremely effective best bet you have for you.

Before You Buy
The very first thing we want to know is how Affilorama is actually structured. It's passed through numerous changes lately, and above current reviews don't reflect these changes.
The website is set using these a rather confusing way, dividing features into different packages, forcing it a little obscure the one that we would like to buy to get going making money. It's possible to try to break it down for you therefore's a little easier to understand.
An everyday (free) membership Affilorama should get you access some training videos, a members forum, and also their blog. These items are updated frequently, and there's a ton of information there. I wrote my original directory for Affilorama in 2014, but as of 2017, it's still active with questions, after, as updates. They are building for your long haul!
affilorama updated post
Update 2018
There was once four packages, raise paid, recurring membership fee. Now there is just a without charge organization, plus two other items you can buy. Is without question basically the "DIY" version, that is definitely $197. This is simply not DIY since you acquire the help of the running and community, but it's not "in serious trouble you", as while using the upgraded versions which is certainly an $997.
affilorama packages available
Affilorama has updated their package offers since I wrote my original review
Affilorama Premium is $67/month and is the same thing that I consider to be the "main feature" with this company. There'may be a 7 day trial for $1. Free membership is available nowadays
Affilotheme the help that people seek a premium WordPress theme used to be intended for $97, but these days is usually to often be available through the Affiloblueprint package.
AffiloBlueprint is $197 for lifetime access that is definitely the step-by-step system for newbies.
Affilojetpack are pre-made niche websites with content included, email swipes, likewise ready-made material. It's $997.
AffiloTools is a one-stop shop to track issues like competitors, rankings, keywords, and a number of other things. It's included along with your free membership.
Pricing Updates 2018
Ok, so what I've figured out is that there is three prices of membership. You join the FREE membership, that steadily the ability to access some features, and is often free. Then there may be the PREMIUM membership, with which has a $1 trial, and it's $67/month after that.
affilorama membership levels and pricing
What I Liked
Though I exist of criticisms of this particular program which I'll discuss below, overall, I believe this can be a legit program. Mark Ling really lays everything out before you join, the fact is that sets him other than 99% for all your serious "gurus" out there. Ling has a superb reputation with the exceptional affilo-stuff has been around since 2005.
Most products in this industry don't last within a year.
The site is member focused, includes a somewhat-active forum, and is constantly changing as time goes on, instead of a static PDF or video series that can stale with time.
I keep in mind the main thing I liked about Affilorama was the way in which lots of the videos were set up, with bulleted overviews, prime quality voice overs, and scripts you may download for each video. I do know loads of they on limited internet connections and video training isn't always essentially the most convenient.
Free Membership
There's greatly present on the free membership. I joined a very long time ago and am still able to use the forum, all the work outs modules, the official blog, and a large array of other things including hour long webinar sessions.
Navigate the lessons dependant upon topic

2. Read The Title Summary of Each Lesson, Organized By Topic
affilorama lesson titles and summaries
3. Watch HD Videos & Read About Each Lesson, Including Step By Step Pictures
affilorama lessons video
Since the original writing of this review, I like the way this script has restructured. Without having the $67 per 30 days membership, you possibly can concentrate on absorbing what they have to offer for free. That gives you the right amount of time to consider upgrading on top of AffiloBlueprint or AffiloJetpack.
By granting them you value rapidly, you will see what kind of company they are! And hey, if they supply like this stuff without cost, the paid stuff have to be healthier for 🙂

Goodies Included In Premium Offers
If you commit to go together with Blueprint or Jetpack you've got 1-year webhosting for 1 website. That's worth at least $100, and maybe more towards the quality despite hosting. You furthermore may explore owing to their "AffiloTheme' Premium Theme. A premium theme could cost between $20 and $100, in order that'is actually a acceptable too!
What I Didn't Like
"Outdated" Sections of Training
Though there is a lot of wonderful trainings in the gratis group, there are plenty real bombs to watch out for. While appearing for information on how to construct an internet site, I only found a bit about using Adobe Dreamweaver and creating content using HTML. Sure, there are a selection of the way for building website, but the easiest and most popular is WordPress. My #1 recommended product (see below for link) permits you to create WordPress website in about 30 seconds.
Considering you'll be able to select from over 10,000 different WordPress themes, including premium ones with fancy features, plus the normal process to customize your company site with different plugins, I did not why you'll use such as dreamweaver. WordPress is flexible, search result friendly, and highly customizable.
Low Member Activity
Right at the top of the list of appeals of going to a membership site just like a is generating help. There definitely here are a couple of active members, and actually moderators to aid with answering questions.
But from what I possibly could see, there didn't appear to be several activity going on.
affilorama forum
There are numerous instances of posts being replied to in three or four hours, however most activity seems to be over other times, even days or weeks old. I used to be on the website one evening and saw that there were only 16 members on!
Even though this is just my personal opinion, the posts I looked at didn't appear to be too insightful or warranting a discussion. In fact, I'm comparing this to my own end result of Wealthy Affiliate, containing plentiful active members, in conjunction with a live chat scrolling 24/7 a place that you may consider and carry instant answers.
Affilorama has the suitable idea yield members forum, but it only is devoid of numerous active members to get this to a great feature.
That's A Bad Idea #1: Copied Content
An enormous fear the workout that you will see discussed on other reviews of Affilorama is the use of PLR content and backlinking strategies.
Because it feels like an "easy way" that creates an online business, many people preclude stuff of making helpful, interesting content unfortunetly copy it from multiple places. True, there are actually legit ways to repeat content, and they rarely spark a legitimate, long-term business.
Aided by the ways is PLR content. It is a symbol of Private Label Rights and permits you to take content is due to a source tagged PLR, change it of any kind for your information fit, then do it in the own.
The concerns with that is multifaceted. One, everyone permission to access the same content. Two, this product is often written in a really generalized way that is neither interesting nor okay for the reader. Three, because it's not completely unique content, it's very hard to rank.
Many people say which you can "tweak" letting it to cause it to unique and pass Copyscape. My question to the child is, when you're a reader, are you able to detect when someone is BS-ing you online? Do you like along with generalized content or highly specific and insightful content?
Not surprisingly, if you need to spend enough time to research and re-write this stuff so they are unique, interesting, and helpful, you better yet not use PLR or merely write 100% original content.
In our own way to copy content is curation. By curating, you are taking other author's work (that allow you to achieve this), and offering a linkage to the unique source. Normally, mingle an "authority" on a topic by collecting legitimate information on that topic.
However, if you copy achieve article, there may be there's no chance that you're going to get ranked in Google for that content. No rank means no traffic. In the event you copy just a good bit and write your personal commentary for this (as curation must be), you will want to write down user generated content!
The Affilorama training helps it to be sound like that is simple to do and will sustain job as a web-based marketer less difficult. That's removed from the truth. Using content in this manner adds a new level of difficultly versus just writing the damn thing yourself.
That's A Bad Idea #2: Backlinking
Internet marketers can talk before cows arrive home about backlinking strategies but after all, Google explicitly says that artificial link-building is against their TOS and it'll end up at trouble.
Gurus went on and on about the benefits of Private Blog Networks. Countless products were released, revealing the ranking revolution, and the way it was easy attending to the #1 spot with PBNs…until that they will deindexed and anyone that used them was penalized. They've since recovered in popularity, but who knows when the following Google update will kill your PBN.
google deindex backlinks
I actually have personally grown One More Cup of Coffee to five,000 visits per 24 hrs with out a single backlink, so I actually have my own proof that links are not needed to experience a traffic generating website falsified income. It only takes longer, additionally it may also lasts longer too.
And by the age of the training on backlinks in Affilorama, I wouldn't trust it for our particular own website, and may't recommend it for yours!
Extra Fees
Considering what you'll discover, the worth swapped the varied packages you in finding will not be too crazy. However, there are certain considerations!
For only one, you must pay an autoresponder fee in addition to whatever it is that you buy, who can cost $20+ per month. Then, your hosting may not free after for a year of membership. Also, there is some confusion about "Affilorama Premium" and "AffiloTools".
Premium it happens to not be available on the company website, but it surely's listed as an extra feature, specifically that you get a 1-month free trial. The first price for premium was $67, so can we expect a $67 upsell most of us join Blueprint?
Regarding AffiloTools, it clearly says hence it's free for Affilorama Members, that being said we're told that we all experience a no charge study to be a part of Blueprint. So which can be it?

Affilorama Free VS Premium Updated for 2018
It's been quite a while since I wrote my initial review. I wrote this making a return to 2014, togerher with its now December 2018. Affilorama remains to be alive, so they collect new members and perpetuate improving a company. Personally, I are unable to find much activity this review, so I'll just turn the job over as-can possibly be now. I've updated the pricing info, and made an effort of the costless association simply by Winter 2018.
However, if I get sufficient comments within the comment section aiming a review the newer Premium membership in Affilorama, I'll join and test it out. Contribute to the discussion and let me know if you would like me to do this!
Last Note
I in fact wasn't delightful to have email offers from Mark Ling, cross promoting services and products from folks that I would consider scam artists. I've done a lot of reviews for my website, and am aware that lots of the "gurus" hang around the other and run promotions for some another. That's fine. It's how business is done online, and You'll be able to unsubscribe very easily.
Specially me, I used to be just disappointed to find out that the finished products owner was promoting a person who I personally find terrible. This method person often charges thousand of dollars for mentorships and exclusive programs. You familiar with ones - "Join cost-free webinar", after which they try to sell you a $10,000 mentorship package.
Final Review
Affilorama has an incredible no charge registration, and appropriately priced premium offers. They've a helpful community, and a quality product that I am able to proudly recommend.
Thumbs Up

However, they aren't my #1 recommendation!

Super P force: premature ejaculation
What Are Super P Force Tablets?
Super P Force tablets are a dual action medication which contains two active ingredients that work together to improve erectile function and prevent premature ejaculation (PE) at the same time. They contain 100mg sildenafil citrate which is the same active ingredient in Viagra. They also contain 60mg dapoxetine which is also marketed under the brand name Priligy. If you buy Super P Force tablets you will also have a medication that works by increasing levels of nitric oxide, which is a molecule that is produced naturally in the body. Its most important function is to relax the inner muscles of blood vessels and this causes them to dilate which improves blood flow. Sildenafil is particularly effective at relaxing smooth muscle tissue in the p***s and this improves blood supply. A healthy supply of blood to the p***s is essential for normal, healthy erectile function.
Super P Force is a powerful combination of Sildenafil Citrate and Dapoxetine, which has been found highly effective in providing relief from Erectile Dysfunction and Premature Ejaculation. It is important to know how Super P Force actually works in order to treat erection and ejaculation issue.

Actively composed of 100 mg Sildenafil Citrate and 60 mg Dapoxetine, Super P Force works to improve erections and delay ejaculations in men. To understand why Super P Force can encourage erections and delay ejaculation, it is imperative to know how it works in general. It could be a bit technical at first, but you will surely get to know how it work in simple terms.
The Science behind Super P Force
As mentioned earlier, the medicine is composed of two active drugs viz. Sildenafil Citrate and Dapoxetine. Sildenafil Citrate is PDE5 inhibitor, while Dapoxetine is a Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI). Here is how Super P Force works in order to treat ED and PE:
Sildenafil Citrate: as the name suggests, it inhibits the secretion of PDE5 enzyme to allow the body to stop the degradation of cyclic Guanosine Monophosphate and increase nitric oxide secretion. When this happens, the muscles relax and blood vessels dilate, allowing the blood to flow across the genital region, making the penile organ stiffer on s**ual stimulation.
Dapoxetine: the exact mechanism of Dapoxetine in delaying the ejaculation is not known. However, it is presumed that the drug works on a brain chemical called serotonin to help delay semen ejaculation.
What are beneficial effects of super p force tablets?
About one third of men suffer from PE and it can have a vastly negative impact on relationships. Research has shown that men with PE and their female partners generally have higher levels of personal distress and dissatisfaction with s**ual intercourse - leading to further anxiety in other areas of life. Fortunately, if you order Super P Force tablets online you will opt for an approved medication that can effectively treat this condition and hence counteract the interpersonal difficulties associated with it.
Sildenafil remains a popular choice for men with erectile difficulties as it is a very effective yet safe medication. Since it was released on the market, this medication has successfully treated more men with erectile dysfunction than any other medication. Approximately 80 percent of men respond well to it and are able to achieve a firm and sustainable erection in response to s**ual stimulus.
Most men who use sildenafil are able to achieve an erection within as little as 30 to 60 minutes of taking a tablet. The effects last up to 6 hours allowing enough time for the user to get in the mood for s**ual activity without feeling rushed. Choosing to buy Super P Force tablets is choosing a medication that restores erectile function, while it is effective in the body, and improves your overall quality of life.
Recommended Usage and Dosage of super p force
The sildenafil in these tablets takes as little as 30 minutes to start working, but dapoxetine usually takes slightly longer so take one tablet around 1 hour before planned s**ual activity for optimum results.
After you order Super P Force tablets online do not take more than one tablet in 24 hours as this can lead to unwanted side effects and benefits do not necessarily improve.

Problem Solving from First Principle!
On one side tech entrepreneur like Jack Ma advocating for 9-9-6 work culture & other side people fight for 40 hours equality! But, there are some global leaders like Narendra Modi, Warren Buffett, Marissa Mayer, Elon Musk who work more than 100+ hours to accomplish their goals.
In this diverse argument, At the age of 46, Elon Musk has innovated and built four revolutionary multibillion-dollar companies in completely different fields — Paypal (Financial Services), Tesla Motors (Automotive) and SpaceX (Aerospace), Boring (Transportation).
How these people achieve so much within a short span of time??
How did he able to manage all these things ??
What is the secret behind there success??
.
.
.
The answer is simple:
Read, Read & More Read!!!
No doubt Reading plays an important role in unlocking your inner creative genius and becoming the best at what you do — but there’s more to this —
Reading new things continuously over a period of time. (power of compounding) will change the way you think!!
Learning is the single best investment of our time that we can make. Or as Benjamin Franklin said, “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.”
Thinking from the First Principle gives many Out of box & innovative solutions to hard problems.
Your brain encourages you to think in analogies, as this is the most efficient and safest way of thinking. So how do you break this programming, take a step back and start thinking in basic principles?
First Principle: The Building Blocks of True Knowledge!!
First-principles thinking is one of the best ways to reverse-engineer complicated problems. the idea is to break down complicated problems into basic elements and then reassemble them from the ground up. It’s one of the best ways to learn to think for yourself, unlock your creative potential, and move from linear to non-linear results.
When Elon Musk’s started development of the TESLA electric car, many experts felt that electric vehicles could not be popular because of battery costs. The $600/kW is the market price, The battery has always been so expensive. Which increased in 2/3rd of production cost.
Why it's $600/kW ??
“That’s just the way they will always be because that’s the way they have been in the past”.
However, Elon Musk does not agree!! He needs to understand the root cause of the Problem, He applied First-principles methodology!!
What are the material constituents of the batteries?
What is the spot market value of the material constituents?
When he dig dipper into the ground, basic things like cobalt, nickel, aluminum, carbon, and some polymers for separation, and steel can enough to produce a battery pack;
Next, If we bought that on a London Metal Exchange, what would each of these things cost? Oh, god, it’s … $80 per kilowatt-hour. So, clearly, you just need to think of clever ways to take those materials and combine them into the shape of a battery cell, and you can have batteries that are much, much cheaper than anyone realizes.
youtube
Through these “basic facts”, Elon Musk and the team will further analyze and experiment each part of the raw materials and re-engineer each work process.
Finally, he and the team will optimize the original parts and add a comprehensive improvement of the production method, which significantly reduces the Cost-of electric vehicles.
Musk used first principles thinking not only for making inexpensive battery packs for his Tesla cars but also for building cheaper rockets for his other space exploration company SpaceX.
The result of such thinking was astonishing!!
The Basic: Analogy vs Axioms
“I think it is important to reason from first principles rather than by analogy.” — Elon Musk
Your brain encourages you to think in analogies, as this is the most efficient and safest way of thinking. So how do you break this programming, take a step back and start thinking in first principles?
In our day to day life, we tend to use what is known as Comparison Thinking, this is when we do what comes naturally and normally to us and reason through analogy. What this means is that we make decisions and judgment calls based on what we’ve seen, heard or done from our experiences or from others. Knowing the outcome due to past experiences, we either repeat or iterate slightly to suit the current situation. This is an easy mode of thinking, and for the most part effective, but also offers no innovation or large changes.
Thinking from First Principles. In this, you take a problem and break it down into its fundamental parts and truths, until you get to the bare bones as it were. Once you’ve eliminated everything down to its constituent parts then you start reasoning up from there. This is a harder mode of thinking, but does offer better results, is far more effective and creates recognizable change.
Analogy thinking: Cook vs Chef ?? He compares people and how they behave to cooks and chefs. With a chef, he means a person who invents their own recipe, while a cook is someone who follows an already existing recipe.
Some people usually behave like cooks and follow recipes from a cookbook, while others prefer to come up with their own. A cook takes some ingredients and goes through a series of steps to come up with a standard dish. On the other hand, a chef might use those same ingredients, but mix them up in new and original ways and come up with a new dish. For both of these guys, the ingredients were the first principles, but the way they used them was different.
🔸Iteration: doing the same things again.
🔸Innovation: doing new things.
🔸Disruption: doing new things that make old things obsolete.
Examples of First Principles in ActionSpaceX:
Problem: Elon musk childhood dream is to send the First Rocket to Mars.🚀
Reasoning from analogy: Build Vs Hire? As a startup, It's difficult to understand the new rocket technology & build from scratch. so purchase the unused rocket from existing companies/Govt agencies like NASA/ISRO but the cost of purchasing a rocket was astronomical — up to $65 million.
Reasoning from first principles: let’s look at the first principles. What is a rocket made of? Aerospace-grade aluminum alloys, plus some titanium, copper, carbon fiber. Then I asked, what is the value of those materials on the commodity market? It turned out that the materials cost of a rocket was around two percent of the typical price.
Within a few years, SpaceX had cut the price of launching a rocket by nearly 10x while still making a profit. Musk used first principles thinking to break the situation down to the fundamentals, bypass the high prices of the aerospace industry, and create a more effective solution.
Minimal Product Design:
Problem: Create a login system for a web/mobile app.
Reasoning from analogy: Most apps require a user to provide a username, email address and password, with the password confirmed twice!! That seems to be the best practice, so I’ll do the same.
Reasoning from first principles: What’s the least information I need to collect from the user to make the app functional? The app creates a page for each user that is their online identity hub. I want their full name to be displayed at the top of the page, so I need to collect that. I won’t display a username anywhere in the app, so Do I really need that?
But if two users have the same name, how will I create a unique URL slug for each? I guess I could add a randomized number to the slug, and do a check before saving that ensures the number is unique. I’ll then need to collect the user’s email in-case they forget their password. I probably don’t need to verify their password twice, since the app will allow them to easily reset it as long as they have access to their email account.
Artists thinking:
Problem: Even after 500 years, we are unable to produce one more world-class painting like Mona-lisa??
Reasoning from analogy: This generation artist learns drawing & painting. Mostly they expertise in one specific area. they unable to visualize depth & authenticity of the image. (not a polymath).
Reasoning from first principles: It’s hard to talk about the First principle thinking without mentioning the impressive genius of Leonardo da Vinci. Before writes in the world famous Mona Lisa, he knows the art, anatomy, engineer, science, biology, optics & experimenter which makes him a renaissance!! With all these basics principle, da Vinci will draw the picture of the millennium.
Neem Coated Urea
Problem: The urea was subsidized for agriculture use but it was being diverted to non-agricultural purposes, chemical factories. This lead to a shortage of urea to the farmer.
How to solve this ??
How it reaches to the Farmers or beneficiaries??
Reasoning from analogy: Think to avoid the middlemen & directly distribute to the farmers. But It's a challenging job to distribute proper fertilizers, seeds to the 110 million farmers across India. Either we need to * Produce excess adequate amount of the Urea. * Create a task force which monitors the distributions on various level.
Reasoning from first principles: The GoI has mandated neem coating of urea while producing it in the Factories!! Expect Agriculture, coated urea is not good for any other commercial usage.
Why ??
🔸Urea is highly subsidized in India for agricultural usage. However, people were using the subsidized urea for other industrial applications due to its high nitrogen content. Hence Neem coating was adopted to prevent usage of Urea for any other application than farming as Neem coating doesn’t affect agriculture but does so for industrial usage.
🔸Urea is very volatile in nature. If it is applied directly on the crops, it is released very rapidly. This results in high usage of urea by farmers on the crop thereby hampering the quality crop and soil. Neem coating slow downs the release of urea to crops. Also, Neem is an excellent ingredient for farming which improves plant and soil quality.
What Are You?
Who we are ??
How This Universe Created??
How can something appear without nothing??
The best way to understand the Universe, Physics laws, Human evolution, Culture, Consumer behavior or predict the future is to deduce that from the First Principle.
Reasoning from the first principle allows gives a structured framework for thinking & gives a solution to the above-mentioned complex problem!
Timeline: Big Bang Theory: (13.5 Billion years ago)
Big Bang Theory A starting point for all the above Questions!! It gives an explanation about how the universe began.
At its simplest, it says the universe as we know it started with a small singularity. Physicist define Bigbang as Singularity! Its a point at which all known laws of nature id not exists, even time too did not exist.
Once all the matter, energy & space in the universe were once squeezed into an infinitesimally small volume, which erupted in a cataclysmic “explosion” which has become known as the Big Bang. Thus, space, time, energy and matter all came into being at an infinitely dense, infinitely hot gravitational singularity, and began expanding everywhere at once.
String Theory :(4.5 Billion years ago)
String theory helps us to group all Physics laws into the theoretical framework. which helps to understand the substance, matters & species formation of the Planet Earth leads to the Evolution of Biology & leaving organisms over a period of time to evolve the Homo Sapiens
Homo Sapiens : (2.5 million years ago)
The story of humanity is a story of adaptation. Over the past 200,000 years, ever since the first modern humans (Homo sapiens) appeared in Africa, people have been spreading outward from that continent in every possible direction. As they encountered new environments and challenges, our ancestors had to change in many ways to survive.
Discovered how to make fire. (300000 years ago) This small event transformed the way we ate, the way we grew to live on heated food, it changed our digestive system, it transformed our groups and societies as we literally came to gather around the fire and told each other stories. (Cognitive Revolution)
Above timeline from Bigbang exploration, String theory, Homo sapiens to the build a culture & creating a History. we come in a long way. This will give an answer to all the fundamental questions in the discipline of science, technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM)
How to cultivate the First Principle Thinking :
If I had an hour to solve a problem and my life depended on the solution, I would spend the first 55 minutes determining the proper question to ask, for once I know the proper question, I could solve the problem in less than five minutes. — Albert Einstein
✨ Most don’t know where to begin or how to attack the problem? ✨ Most lack a structured approach and don’t have the patience or time to dig deep enough? ✨ How you frame the problem is important??
How to think in a First Principles way: 🔸Keep asking “WHY” to get into the deeper layers of understanding 🔸Read more classics in the field 🔸 Learn the subjects that form the foundation of the field you are exploring. (math, physics, biology, etc)
✔️Want to learn marketing? Read Psychology.
✔️Want to learn Health and Fitness? Read Biology.
✔️Want to learn Economy ?? Read supply and demand.
✔️Want to learn Data Analyst/Science ?? Understand Excel, statistics.
✔️Want to understand relationships and trust work ?? Read Game theory.
✔️Want to understand Blockchain ?? Read Edge computing, attack vector, Encryption.
Moreover, try to study the fundamentals of *different* fields.

Bottom line: The Future
Now, We are in the exact middle in the spectrum of the transformation of the Biological evolution to the Technological transform.
Globalization effect & rapid change in the competitive environment it's difficult to understand/learn everything!

Will a Low-Carb Diet Shorten Your Life?
Last week, a new study was published in The Lancet that claimed to find that both very-low- and very-high-carb diets shorten our lifespan. Predictably, the mainstream media jumped on this finding without doing a shred of due diligence—more on that below—and we were subjected to splashy headlines like this:
Low-carb diets could shorten life, study suggests (BBC News)
Low and high carb diets increase risk of early death, study finds (CNN)
Low-carb diet may cut years off life, study suggests (Newsweek)
Your low-carb diet could be shortening your life (Fast Company)
Paleo fail: meat-heavy low-carbohydrate diets can shorten lifespan, researchers say (South China News)
I’ve been writing about health and nutrition for more than a decade now, and without fail, at least once a year a study like this is published. I could set my watch to it.
Understandably, my Twitter, Facebook, and email accounts blow up with messages from concerned readers, who want to know if the diet they are following is going to kill them.
Each year, my response is the same: no, your nutrient-dense, whole-foods diet that includes animal products is not going to give you a heart attack, increase your risk of cancer or other chronic diseases, or shorten your lifespan. In fact, it’s likely to have the opposite effect.
Why Eating Low Carb Won't Kill You
This year, it’s no different. In this article, I’m going to give you seven reasons why you should take the recent Lancet study with a huge grain of salt. If you’ve been following my work for some time, I hope you’ll recognize many of the shortcomings of the study, because you’ve seen them before:
Using observational data to draw conclusions about causality
Relying on inaccurate food frequency questionnaires (FFQs)
Failing to adjust for confounding factors
Focusing exclusively on diet quantity and ignoring quality
Meta-analyzing data from multiple sources
Unfortunately, this study has already been widely misinterpreted by the mainstream media, and that will continue because:
Most media outlets don’t have science journalists on staff anymore
Even so-called “science journalists” today seem to lack basic scientific literacy
The devil is always in the details, but details aren’t sexy and don’t generate clicks.
Most people—medical professionals and the general public alike—will just read the sensationalized headlines and assume that they are true. The percentage of the population that will find their way to a critique of the study like this, read it in its entirety, and comprehend it, is disappointingly low. This is what we’re up against. So, if you are reading this, please share it with anyone that you think would benefit.
Are you concerned about recent news regarding low-carb diets? Don’t be. Here’s why eating low carb isn’t likely to shorten your lifespan.
With that in mind, let’s take a closer look at the issues with this study.
1. The Data Were Observational, and Significant Caveats Apply
As I explained in a podcast called “A Beginner’s Guide to Scientific Research,” an observational study is one that draws inferences about the effect of an exposure or intervention on subjects where the researcher or investigator has no control over the subject. It’s not an experiment where they are directing a specific intervention (like a low-carb diet) and making things happen. Instead, the researchers are just looking at populations of people and making guesses about the effects of a diet or lifestyle variable.
An example of an observational study would be in comparing rates of lung cancer in smokers and nonsmokers. They might look retrospectively at groups of people who smoke and groups of people who don’t smoke, see what the rates of lung cancer are in each of those groups, and then draw some conclusions.
Repeat After Me: Correlation Is Not Causation
One of the key things to understand about observational studies is that you can’t establish causation from observational studies. You can establish a correlation or an association between two variables, but you can’t establish causation conclusively.
If you take a class on research methodology, you’ll often hear some silly examples of how observational data can be misinterpreted. Consider the statement, “The more firefighters that are sent to a fire, the more damage gets done.” Obviously that’s not how it works. It’s not that more firefighters are causing the damage. It’s that when fires are worse, more firefighters are required to fight it, so the causation there is reversed.
Another one would be, “Children who get tutored get worse grades than children who don’t get tutored.” Again, the causality is reversed. Children who are not getting good grades are more likely to hire tutors, or their parents will.
Consider a more relevant example. For decades, observational research suggested a correlation between dietary cholesterol intake and heart disease. This led to public health recommendations to limit cholesterol in the diet and generations of people unnecessarily torturing themselves with egg white omelettes (or even worse, Egg Beaters!), boneless, skinless chicken breasts, and (gasp!) margarine. Today, we now know that dietary cholesterol does not contribute to an increased risk of heart disease, and virtually all industrialized countries in the world—including the United States as of 2016—do not suggest limits to intake of cholesterol in their dietary guidelines.
It boils down to this: observational studies are good for generating hypotheses, not for proving that a specific variable causes a specific outcome.
To do that, you need a randomized, controlled trial (RCT). In an RCT, study participants are randomly assigned to two groups: a treatment group that receives the intervention being studied, and a control group that does not. The participants are then observed for a specific period of time.
This Lancet study was observational, not experimental. They simply observed participants over a 25-year period and assessed outcomes. As we’ll discuss below, this creates significant potential for error when attempting to draw conclusions.
2. The Study Data Came From Questionnaires, Not Observation of What Participants Ate
Do you accurately remember what you ate on March 15th, 2014? How about during the month of November 2015? I didn’t think so. Yet this is exactly the methodology in the studies analyzed in this report to determine participants’ carbohydrate intake.
More specifically, the underlying studies used FFQs. In an FFQ, researchers ask participants how much they ate of certain foods over a given time period. Not surprisingly, FFQs have been criticized for their inaccuracy for several reasons: (1, 2)
People tend to underreport foods socially considered “bad,” like red meat and alcohol
People overreport foods socially considered “good,” such as vegetables and fruits
People may not know all the ingredients in restaurant or prepared foods
People don’t weigh or otherwise measure portion sizes
People find tracking every bite and meal inconvenient
People are human and just can’t remember every little thing they eat
People’s diets tend to change over long periods of time
Also, as you might suspect, the further back in the past participants are asked to recall their diet, the less accurate an FFQ will be. In the Lancet study, the subjects’ diets were only assessed twice throughout a 25-year period, separated by an interval of six years.
This means that people were asked to report on what they ate over a previous six-year period. And even then, the FFQs only covered 12 years of that 25-year period.
So, one way to think about the Lancet paper is that it’s an analysis of self-reported answers on two questionnaires about how much carbohydrate participants ate over a period of a quarter century.
3. Confounding Factors Were Not Adequately Controlled For
One of the biggest problems with observational studies is that it can be difficult, if not impossible, to isolate the influence of a single variable. Human beings don’t live in highly controlled environments, and there are numerous factors that impact our health and lifespan, ranging from genetics to air and water quality, from socioeconomic status to lifestyle and behavior.
This is why most nutritional studies are met with heavy criticism. A recent article from the Mayo Clinic Proceedings even claimed that because nutrition studies “cannot be reliably, accurately, and independently observed, quantified, and confirmed or refuted,” they do not follow the scientific method and should be regarded as “pseudoscience” at best. (3)
Let’s use a simple example. Imagine you’re a scientist and you want to find out whether eating red meat increases the risk of heart attack. You recruit participants and ask them to track how much red meat they consume over 20 years. Then, you measure how many heart attacks occurred throughout the study period.
When examining the data, you notice a strong correlation between red meat consumption and heart attack. In other words, the people who ate the most red meat were the most likely to have a heart attack, and the people that ate the least red meat were the least likely to have a heart attack.
Case closed, right? Not so fast. What if the people who ate the most red meat were also more likely to smoke cigarettes, have high blood pressure and diabetes, eat more refined carbohydrates and sugar, not eat vegetables, and not exercise? In this scenario, it’s impossible to know whether the higher rate of heart attacks was caused by eating more red meat, any of these other single factors, or a combination of some or all of them.
The Healthy User Bias
The scenario I just mentioned is not hypothetical—it’s incredibly common. It’s so common, in fact, that it even has a name: the “healthy user bias.” I discussed this in detail in a 2014 podcast called “Heart Attacks and Red Meat—Correlation or Causation?,” but here’s the short version. People who engage in a behavior perceived as healthy are more likely to engage in other behaviors that are also perceived as healthy, and vice versa.
So, because red meat has been perceived as “unhealthy” for so many years, on average, people that eat more red meat are more likely to:
Smoke
Drink too much
Eat too much sugar
Not exercise, etc.
Of course, most researchers are well aware of the influence of confounding factors and the healthy user bias, and the good ones do their best to control for as many of these factors as they can. But even in the best studies, researchers can’t control for all possible confounding factors, because our lives are simply too complex.
In the Lancet paper, researchers included a study if it controlled for at least three of the following factors:
Age
Sex
Obesity
Smoking status
Diabetes
Hypertension
Hypercholesterolemia
History of cardiovascular disease
Family history of cardiovascular disease
That’s a step in the right direction. However, it still leaves huge room for confounding factors and healthy user bias. For example, say one of the studies controlled for age, sex, and whether participants were obese. That still leaves many factors—smoking status, diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, history of cardiovascular disease—that could affect the outcome.
It opens up the possibility that people who were following a very-low-carb diet were more likely to have an underlying health condition like diabetes, hypertension, or high cholesterol, or that they were more likely to engage in unhealthy behaviors like smoking. And in fact, that’s exactly what happened in the Lancet study. According to the authors:
“Participants who consumed a relatively low percentage of total energy from carbohydrates (i.e., participants in the lowest quantiles) were more likely to be young, male, a self-reported race other than black, college graduates, have high body mass index, exercise less during leisure time, have high household income, smoke cigarettes, and have diabetes.” [emphasis added]
That’s not surprising, is it? People who follow diets—whether very-low-carb or very-high-carb—are far more likely to have some kind of health problem that led them to start the diet in the first place. Unfortunately, this study didn’t adequately control for this almost certain fact.
This is bad enough. But it gets worse when you consider the confounding variables that weren’t even on the researchers’ list, such as:
The amount of fresh fruits and vegetables consumed
The amount of sugar they consumed
The quality of protein, fat, and carbohydrate they consumed
How much physical activity they engaged in
The question of diet quality—whether the person was eating primarily fresh, whole, nutrient-dense food or highly processed, refined food—is especially important. In the United States, we know from other research that the majority of Americans eat mostly processed and refined food. For example, a study published this year found that 60 percent of the calories Americans consume come from not just processed food—but ultra-processed food. These foods do not impact the body in the same way that fresh, whole foods do. I’ll discuss this more below.
4. Macronutrient Quality Is More Important Than Quantity
Researchers have long debated whether low-fat or low-carbohydrate diets are best for weight loss and overall health. Regardless of the macronutrient content, however, most long-term studies have reported little success in achieving and maintaining significant weight loss. In 2016, I wrote an article called “Carbohydrates: Why Quality Trumps Quantity,” in which I argued that the answer to obesity and metabolic disease lies not in how much carbohydrate we eat, but rather what types of carbohydrate we eat.
Earlier this year, a landmark study published in JAMA supported this argument and suggested that the same principles apply to fats. The researchers found that on average, people who cut back on added sugar, refined grains, and processed food lost weight over 12 months—regardless of whether the diet was low carb or low fat.
I wrote about this study in detail in an article called “Why Quality Trumps Quantity When It Comes to Diet.” Here’s the TL;DR: when the subjects focused on real, whole foods and cut processed foods out of their diet, they lost significant weight, without having to count calories or restrict energy intake.
Now, this study focused on weight loss, but it’s ludicrous to assume that the same distinction between real, whole foods and processed, refined foods wouldn’t apply to a study looking at longevity.
Consider two hypothetical people:
A person on a low-carb diet that eats primarily refined fats like industrialized seed oils (found in most processed foods and in foods cooked in restaurants)
A person on a low-carb diet that eats primarily natural fats from fresh, whole foods (meat, fish, avocados, nuts, seeds, etc.) prepared mostly at home
Is it logical to predict that these two people will enjoy the same health, protection from disease, and lifespan? Of course not. Yet that is exactly what the Lancet study did assume.
Decades of nutrition research have myopically focused on the quantity of protein, fat, and carbohydrate we eat, without considering the quality. In my mind, this is perhaps the single biggest shortcoming of the bulk of nutrition research.
5. It’s Possible to Follow a Diet That Is Both Low in Carbohydrates and High in Fresh, Nutrient-Dense Foods
It should be clear by now that the participants that were following a low-carb diet were not following a Paleo-type low-carb diet that is rich in natural, whole foods. The researchers themselves point this out:
“By contrast, the animal-based low carbohydrate dietary score was associated with lower average intake of both fruit and vegetables (appendix pp 9, 10).”
But of course it doesn’t have to be that way. A common misconception of the Paleo diet is that it’s “meat heavy,” rather than “plant based.” But consider someone who is abstaining from eating grains, dairy products, and processed and refined foods.
What might their plate consist of? A serving of protein (fish, poultry, meat), and typically two to three servings of non-starchy vegetables. Depending on their carbohydrate intake, they may also eat whole fruits (especially those lower in sugar, like fresh berries) and even starchy tubers like sweet potatoes and yams that are relatively low in carbohydrates. These foods will often be supplemented with healthy fats like nuts, seeds, avocados, or olives.
This is NOT the diet that was studied in the Lancet paper. Therefore, if this is the diet that you’re eating, the results in that paper do not apply to you.
6. Humans Can Thrive on a Variety of Macronutrient Ratios—as Long as They’re Eating Whole Foods
The Lancet study suggested that the optimal range of carbohydrate intake for a lengthy lifespan is between 50 and 55 percent of calories. Is it plausible to assume that humans can only live for a long time within such a narrow range of carbohydrate consumption? No.
That would have put us at a significant evolutionary disadvantage. Humans evolved in diverse environments around the world, and studies of contemporary hunter–gatherer populations demonstrate that we can thrive on a broad range of macronutrient ratios as long as we are following a traditional, whole-foods diet.
Carbohydrate Intake Varies in Ancestral Diets
For example, the Kitavan Islanders of Melanesia live as horticulturists, with little access to Western foods. Carbohydrates make up 60 to 70 percent of their energy intake (higher than the recommended 50–55 percent range in the Lancet study), much of that coming from fruit or tubers with a fairly high glycemic index. (4) Their saturated fat intake is also high.
Yet despite obvious similarity between Kitavan and Western diets in both macronutrient composition and glycemic index, Kitavans boast levels of fasting insulin and blood glucose that are even lower than the levels deemed healthy in Western populations. (5, 6) They also have lower levels of leptin and a virtual absence of diabetes, atherosclerosis, and excess weight. (7, 8, 9)
On the other end of the spectrum, analyses of hunter–gatherer populations, including the Masai, Kavirondo, and Turkhana, suggest that a low-carb diet (between 22 and 40 percent of calories, again lower than the 50 to 55 percent range in the Lancet study) with high intake of unprocessed meat and saturated fat does not result in poor cardiovascular or metabolic health. (10) (For more on this, see my special report on the truth about red meat.)
Critics of the Paleo diet and ancestral nutrition claim that there’s no point in studying what hunter–gatherers eat, because they all die when they’re 40 years old. This is incorrect, as I explain in this video.
While it is true that, on average, hunter–gatherers have shorter lifespans than people living in the modern, industrialized world, those averages don’t consider important challenges that are largely absent from modern life: high rates of infant and early childhood mortality (30 to 100 times higher) and deaths to trauma, warfare, and exposure to the elements, most of which are caused by a complete lack of emergency medical care.
Yet anthropological studies of modern hunter–gatherers have shown that when they have access to even the most rudimentary form of medical care (think a half-day’s walk to a rural clinic), they live life spans roughly equivalent to our own. (11, 12) But in contrast to us, they reach these ages without acquiring many of the chronic, inflammatory diseases that characterize our old age—like diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and Alzheimer’s.
Consider two articles recently published in The New York Times examining the absence of chronic disease in the Tsimané, a subsistence farming and hunter–gatherer population in Bolivia.
The first article, Learning from Our Parents’ Heart Health Mistakes, reported on a study showing that the Tsimané have a prevalence of atherosclerosis 80 percent lower than ours in the United States and that nine in 10 Tsimané adults aged 40 to 94 had completely clean arteries and no risk of heart disease. (Note that the study included adults between 40 and 94 years of age; clearly they are not all dying when they’re 40!)
In a follow-up article, researchers even put to rest the old canard that hunter–gatherers don’t have “diseases of civilization” like diabetes and cardiovascular disease because they don’t live long enough to develop them:
“The Tsimané suffer from high infant-mortality rates, but those who reach adulthood live about as long as most other people, making it possible to measure their health outcomes up to age 90 and beyond.”
This in spite of the fact that the Tsimané have high rates of infection with parasites, and consume 72 percent of calories from carbohydrates—far higher than the 50 to 55 percent range suggested in the Lancet paper.
7. Meta-Analyzing Data From Multiple and Heterogeneous Sources Opens the Door to Confirmation Bias
A meta-analysis is the statistical procedure for combining data from multiple studies. They play an important role in research, but they’re also plagued with several disadvantages, which Wikipedia does a good job of summarizing. They include publication bias, statistical challenges, and, most relevant to this discussion, an “agenda-driven bias”:
“The most severe fault in meta-analysis often occurs when the person or persons doing the meta-analysis have an economic, social, or political agenda such as the passage or defeat of legislation. People with these types of agendas may be more likely to abuse meta-analysis due to personal bias. For example, researchers favorable to the author's agenda are likely to have their studies cherry-picked while those not favorable will be ignored or labeled as "not credible." In addition, the favored authors may themselves be biased or paid to produce results that support their overall political, social, or economic goals in ways such as selecting small favorable data sets and not incorporating larger unfavorable data sets. The influence of such biases on the results of a meta-analysis is possible because the methodology of meta-analysis is highly malleable.”
Another term for agenda-driven bias is “confirmation bias.” This is defined by Wikipedia as "the tendency to interpret new evidence as confirmation of one's existing beliefs or theories.”
Was this an issue in the Lancet paper? While we can’t be sure, it’s certainly a possibility. The paper was published by a research group that included Walter Willett, a physician and researcher at the Harvard School of Public Health who is notorious for his advocacy of a low-fat, plant-based diet. This alone is not necessarily cause to suspect confirmation bias.
However, in an unprecedented turn of events, Willett was censured in an editorial and feature article in the prestigious journal Nature for “promoting over-simplification of scientific results in the name of public health and engaging in unseemly behavior towards those who venture conclusions that differ to his.” (13)
Willett co-authored a study claiming to link aspartame with cancer, but the study was retracted by Harvard at the last minute because the data did not support that conclusion. Meanwhile, the damage had already been done by sensational media headlines like “Aspartame Causes Cancer.” Sound familiar?
In an interview with NBC News about this incident, Dr. Steven Nissen, chair of Cleveland Clinic’s Cardiovascular Medicine Department, said:
“Promoting a study that its own authors agree is not definite, not conclusive and not useful for the public is not in the best interests of public health.”
What’s more, it later became clear that this study had been rejected by six journals, before finally being published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, where—surprise, surprise—Willett is a member of the editorial board.
Unfortunately, this is the reality of medical research today. I’ve written extensively about how financial conflicts of interest and fraud impact scientific findings (see “Behind the Veil: Conflicts of Interest and Fraud in Medical Research,” and “Why Are Scientists and the Public So Often At Odds?”).
But don’t take it from me. In a 2009 article called “Drug Companies & Doctors: A Story of Corruption,” a physician, the former editor of The New England Journal of Medicine, said:
“It is simply no longer possible to believe much of the clinical research that is published, or to rely on the judgment of trusted physicians or authoritative medical guidelines. I take no pleasure in this conclusion, which I reached slowly and reluctantly over my two decades as an editor of The New England Journal of Medicine.”
Consider, also, a paper called “Why Most Published Research Findings Are False,” by John Ioannidis, a Professor of Medicine and of Health Research and Policy at Stanford University School of Medicine and a Professor of Statistics at Stanford University School of Humanities and Sciences.
Ioannidis explains that in many research papers, “Claimed findings may be accurate measures of the prevailing bias.” Clearly, he struck a nerve; this paper is now the most widely cited paper ever published in the journal PLOS Medicine.
In other words, most published research findings support the status quo; they’re not necessarily based on solid evidence. Often, the research that builds on an initial study ends up perpetuating questionable findings. It’s like building a house of cards: a paper gets published that references another paper; then, a third paper gets published that references that second paper, which referenced that first paper, and so on. The assumption is that the evidence in that first paper was correct—but what if it’s not? The edifice of peer-reviewed research is not as perfect as we tend to believe.
If you’re still with us, congratulations! You now have a clearer grasp of the problems with most nutrition studies than the vast majority of journalists working today. My hope is that, armed with this knowledge, you can protect yourself from sensationalized headlines that are based on agenda-driven, poorly designed studies—and continue to follow whatever version of a nutrient-dense, whole-foods diet works best for you.
What are your thoughts on this study? Are you currently following a low-carb diet? Let me know below in the comments.

Marvel Rising Alpha #1 Review
spoilers spoilers spoilers spoilers spoilers spoilers spoilers spoilers spoilers
The creative team of Devin Grayson, Georges Duarte and Rachelle Rosenberg assemble once more to bring us the next chapter in the Marvel Rising saga. Recap and review following the jump.
In the previous zero issue of Marvel Rising, an unseen villain had hired a splinter faction of the renegade science terrorists known as AIM to raid the Stark Institute and conduct genetic screenings on a group of students. Fortunately, Ms. Marvel and Squirrel Girl were on hand to save these kids and defeat the villains. Yet one of the AIM scientists managed to escape and transferred the data he had collected to his secretive benefactor. Their mission had proven a success and the villain was able to identify a young Inhuman named Ember Quaid who possess substantial powers… and now it would appear that the cad has initiated a plan to use young Ms. Quaid and weaponize her abilities toward a nefarious end.
We are introduced to Ember as the issue opens. She’s a troubled young woman who describes herself as a total loser. It sounds as though Ember’s mom is kind of a mess, constantly moving from home to home, city to city looking for a fresh start after bad relationships.
It has been very difficult for Ember to make friends and foster a sense of self with all of this moving about. The only degree of constancy Ember has been able to find is online gaming. While Ember sees herself as a loser in real life, she feels something of a goddess in the realm of multiplayer online role-playing games. Which is all fine and good until some of the guys she plays against realizes she is a girl and it triggers insecurities and vitriol…
Ember has made the mistake of playing one of these games against a group of male classmates at her new high school in New Jersey. She defeats these guys thoroughly and they angrily insist that she must have been cheating. These guys are complete jerks who seem to feel as though losing to a girl threatens their delicate sense of masculinity. They refuse to believe it and level insults at her and accuse her of using cheat codes. These bullies end up ‘doxing’ Ember, freezing her out from her gaming accounts and taking away from her the one place in her life where she has felt in control.
All the while, Ember has been text-messaging with a mysterious online pal who has been a sympathetic ear for Ember’s troubles. And it soon becomes clear that this unseen friend is likely the so-far faceless villain who hired AIM to seek out Ember in the first place.
On top of everything else going on in Ember’s life, she is also an Inhuman. The Terrigen Cloud had floated over the East Coast some time ago... it awakened Ember’s latent Inhuman genes and caused her to be encased in a transformative cocoon. Yet when she emerged she found that she apparently gained no super powers. Once again, Ember felt cheated by life.
It turns out that Ember did indeed gain super powers, only they remained dormant... requiting a specific emotional stimuli in order to be triggered into bloom. These power entail the ability to absorb electrical energy and re-manifest it into hard light constructs. And being bullied by these poor-sport jerks is exactly the kind of trigger needed to bring about access to these powers.
Meanwhile, Doreen Green has been teaching a class in game theory at the the high school. And it also turns out that this is same high school attended by Kamala Khan, who is taking the class in order to make up credits. Of course, Doreen is secretly the super hero known as the unbeatable Squirrel Girl; and Kamala is the marvelous Ms. Marvel.
Somehow these two heroes don’t recognize one another, despite the fact that Squirrel Girl’s ‘disguise’ is little more than a pair of squirrel ears attached to a headband. It all sort of stretches the willing suspension of disbelieve and is played for laughs when Dorren’s correctly surmises that Kamala is secretly the fan fiction writer, ‘Slothbaby,’ whom Doreen is a big fan of.
Having a couple of superheroes at the school ends up fortuitous as Ember’s powers spark into bloom. Draining energy from the electronic devices around her, Ember is able to unconsciously manifests a digitized squirrel wielding a giant mallet. The video-game-style squirrel goes on a rampage, looking to wallop the boys who had bullied Ember. Ms. Marvel and Squirrel Girl jump into action and team up to take out the rampaging squirrel.
Ember’s mysterious texting pal helps her to realize that she was the one who created that video game squirrel… and they encourage her to take it further, to concentrate and create an even bigger manifestation and get revenge on the guys who had bullied her. Ember follows the advice and the next day she manages to create a giant Donkey Kong style digital gorilla that runs amok and attacks the boys who had bullied her.
Once again, Ms. Marvel and Squirrel Girl spring into action, interceding to make sure no one gets hurt. Chaos ensues with a battle that is equal parts comic book action and old school arcade game. The two heroes are ultimately able to pool their strength and demolish the gorilla, shattering it into a scattering of digitalized cubes.
In the wake of all this Ember is left enraged. It feels so unfair to her that these superheroes should show up only to protect the bullies who had given her such a hard time. It’s as though these heroes are only interested in maintain the status quo and keeping outcasts like her on the fringes, disenfranchised.
Ember’s mysterious texting pal is able to capitalize on her anger, encouraging her to take it all further. If these heroes are against her then it stands to reason that she must be a villain. And the only way she is going to gain satisfaction, to feel a sense of empowerment, is to embrace such villainy and take the fight to the heroes.
And it is here that the issue ends, with Ember using her powers to summon an appropriately villainous guise; and the next step clearly to be an attack on Ms. Marvel and Squirrel Girl. A panel informs us that the story will continue next month in Marcel Rising: Ms. Marvel & Squirrel Girl #1.
Grayson and company make an interesting decision in having Ember be something of a central focus to the issue. She’s a sympathetic character. She is being mislead and coerced into making bad decisions, yet the factors that bring her to this point is quite relatable. The best villains are often those who don’t see themselves as the villain, who feel justified in their actions; and whom the readers can in some ways relate to.
Ember is just a lonely girl who has had to deal with bad parenting and not having any friends. The one place she felt self agency and empowerment was gaming… and yet the malignant sexism so prevalent in the world of online gaming has acted to take that respite away. It isn’t fair, it’s enraging… and it’s rather understandable that she would want to see justice… to get a little revenge.
A better path is presented to Ember when Kamala approaches her and tries to make friends. Ember would so fit in with Kamala and her pals. Unfortunately Ember is too angry to seize upon this opportunity. Besides, why even bother trying to make friends with Kamala when it is likely only a matter of time before her mom uproots her once again and has them move somewhere else?
Again, it all casts a sympathetic light on Ember. And I hope that things change for her as the story plays out. She could end up a villain for life, but it is possible that Ms. Marvel and Squirrel Girl might be able to help her see a different path and break free of the influence of this mysterious figure who has been pulling her strings.
There is a rather overt undercurrent of the whole ‘gamer gate’ ordeal in the way the boys bully Ember and try to put forth gaming as a place for boys only. This is interesting and of course an important matter to address… although it’s presented in a kind of ham-fisted fashion. Sometimes it can be more effective to be a touch more covert in recapitulating real life matters into fictional stories.
Also, I’m not sure if the term ‘doxing’ is being used correctly. My understanding is that doxing is publishing an individual’s real name, email address and whatnot. Yet here it is presented as blocking a gamer’s ability to access their online account. Are there multiple definitions for doxing?
All of this aside, the tale is successful in putting forth Ember as the victim of bullying, and as someone whom many readers are likely to be able to relate to.
As was the case in last month’s zero issue, Grayson does a really terrific job scripting the interactions between Ms. Marvel and Squirrel Girl. They are both such bubbly and positive characters, yet Grayson is able to give each a distinct sense of voice… even without the arrows on the voice bubbles, it is clear which character is talking. The two are as fun together as I hoped they would be and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing more of it. And I like that Kamala appears to have figured out Squirrel Girl’s true identity… very intrigued as to how this will play out.
The illustration by Georges Duarte matches the story quite well. It’s a little clunky at some points while generally fluid with dynamic action sequences; while also remaining accessible to newer readers. I especially liked the digitized creatures and how they had a sort of 64-bit style to them. Also the way that the manifestations were reduced to cube-like bits when defeated was pretty cool. Rachelle Rosenberg continues to be a total rockstar in the coloring department, utilizing a vibrant scheme that really brings to life the electrical nature of Ember’s powers.
I liked everything about this issue except for one crucial component: the price point. Four ninety-nine… that is way too much. What is Marvel thinking? Paying five bucks for a comic is not a big deal for me, but I’m an adult with a job and disposable income. Yet I am not at all the target demographic for this comic. Marvel Rising is supposed to be about appealing to both new and longtime readers, those who are older and those who are younger. And it is meant to inviting to a broader, more diverse group of possible readers. This is all great, but the five dollar price tag is likely to filter out a substantial number of potential readers. The zero issue was free and now the subsequent issue is five dollars? That’s not how you sell comics… that’s how you sell crack…
Despite my being bummed out over the price tag, this was an extremely fun read, with cool art and strong, relatable characters. Definitely recommended. Four out of five Lockjaws.

5 Ways to Track Employee Productivity Using the 80/20 Rule
1. Determine the 20% of tasks that generate 80% of your revenue. 2. Identify and automate the 20% of repetitive tasks that consume 80% of your time.
3. Examine the 20% of time slots in which your employees complete 80% of their work.
4. Identify the 20% of employees who have the top 80% of performance. 5. Identify the 20% of tools that your employees use to complete 80% of their work.
It's only a matter of time before you come across the 80/20 Rule if you're interested in employee time tracking. In fact, you may have already noticed it in business books, conferences, or company blogs, such as this one.
But what exactly is the 80/20 Rule, and how does it relate to the productivity-boosting tools and facilities used in the business world?
This is what we'll go over in this guide. In addition, we'll look at how you can use it to boost productivity in a variety of creative and intuitive ways.
What Exactly Is the 80/20 Rule?
The 80/20 Rule, also known as the Pareto principle, states that 80% of outcomes are the result of 20% of causes. The rule has been applied in a variety of fields, most notably business and economics.
Here are some examples:
20 percent of the fruit trees produce 80 percent of the fruit.
20% of sales representatives close 80% of the sales.
Twenty percent of the coworkers consume 80 percent of the coffee.
It's critical to note that this isn't a hard-and-fast rule supported by scientific evidence. On the contrary, it's possible that 15 percent of your clients account for 75 percent of your revenue. Nonetheless, the 80/20 Rule is a valuable principle that you can apply to many aspects of your work and personal life.
5 Ways to Use the 80/20 Rule to Increase Productivity
The 80/20 Rule, as previously stated, can be applied to many aspects of your business. However, in this guide, we will only look at how you can use it to track employee productivity.
Continue reading to learn the five ways you can use the 80/20 Rule to more effectively use time, increase revenue, and boost employee productivity.
Everything you do in business has an effect on your revenue. However, not every task, client, or customer is created equal in this regard.
Here are the things to do:
Total each customer's weekly, monthly, and annual sales.
Subtract the cost of the goods or services you received.
Calculate how much time you spend on each customer.
Once you've determined these figures, you'll be able to quickly prioritise your customers.
During a typical workday, you and your employees undoubtedly perform a series of repetitive tasks. And, while they are necessary to keep the wheels turning, they can often consume a significant amount of time. That is why it is critical to learn how to automate them in order to maximise productivity.
Reading and responding to emails, for example, can easily take two and a half hours.
However, the majority of them can be delegated or ignored entirely.
Another example is repeatedly filling out documents with the same information. A good CMS system will be able to populate various documents with client data that you've previously entered. As a result, with the right CMS integrations, that task can be easily automated.
Because people aren't machines, you can't expect a consistent output throughout the day. Everyone has different peak performance hours, so a consistent schedule for your entire staff may not always make the best use of their abilities.
Fortunately, with the gradual shift toward remote working, many companies have allowed for more flexibility on this front. You can also use employee time tracking software to determine when each employee works best.
Consider when each employee is most productive, and then give them the freedom to adjust their schedule accordingly. When they are at their peak performance, there is no reason for them to perform repetitive tasks.
Each employee has their own unique overall performance level, just as there are no uniform peak performance hours. That is why it is critical to identify which of your employees perform the best so that you can use them as a benchmark to upskill the rest of your team.
Highly productive employees share the following characteristics:
Take the initiative to complete tasks without being supervised.
Use their problem-solving abilities to anticipate future issues.
They are receptive to feedback and incorporate it into their work.
Increase your productivity by using time management techniques.
Maintain a positive attitude.
Create relationships with your coworkers.
When it comes to performing specific tasks, some employees may outperform others. They may have discovered a method that saves them time or resources, for example. This is where a benchmarking tool comes in handy, allowing you to identify who does what the most efficiently and use them as a model to train others.
It's natural for your team to add new productivity tools to help with design, marketing, and any other tasks that need to be completed more efficiently. However, not all software and team productivity apps will be beneficial. That is why it is critical to track their effectiveness and use over time in order to avoid wasting valuable resources.
Take inventory of each tool that your employees use and evaluate how much it contributes to or detracts from productivity:
Is getting rid of it going to interfere with their work?
Could you save some time and money by using a different tool?
Do you have two tools that do the same job?
Consider these questions to trim the fat from your toolbox and ensure that you are only using the best productivity tools for work.
Are you ready to apply the 80/20 Rule?
Hopefully, the 80/20 Rule will provide you with an additional principle for tracking employee productivity and skyrocketing your business. Perhaps you'll find yourself getting rid of productivity tools that don't actually do what they're supposed to do. Employee time tracking software, for example, is one of the best productivity products.
To summarise, the 80/20 Rule allows you to do the following:
Determine each employee's peak performance hours.
Identify the top performers and use them as a guideline.
Clean out and optimise your toolkit for increased workplace productivity.

What is Resource Allocation, and Why is it Important?
Please Note: This article appeared in saviom and has been published here with permission.
Resources are a significant investment for most businesses. Therefore, organizations strive to utilize them optimally for profitability and sustainability. However, managers often focus on keeping resources occupied with work and assign tasks without considering employee skills or interests.
This improper resource allocation blows up costs, delays delivery, and ultimately derails projects off their tracks.
According to PMI’s 2017 pulse survey, “43% of projects spike the budget, and 49% cannot adhere to deadlines.” The study also reveals that only 26% of organizations use resource management for successful resource allocation.”
Resource allocation is an essential step in the resource planning process, and an efficient resource management system helps achieve the same. This article will cover the concept, challenges, importance, and successful resource allocation methods.
1. Definition of resource allocation:
Resource allocation, also known as resource scheduling, recognizes and assigns resources for a specific period to various activities. These activities can be either project or non-project work such as BAU, admin, support, operation, etc.
Assigning 100% of their capacity ensures maximum utilization of resources.
Resources can be either fully or partially available. Therefore, resource managers must take resource availability into account while allocating them to the projects.
2. What are the challenges of resource allocation?
Resource allocation is often easier said than done. Without the right tools or techniques in place, identifying the right resource can be a daunting task. Let’s have a look at some of the resource allocation challenges:
2.1 Change in project scope:
Despite taking necessary control measures, the project scope can still change anytime during the project lifecycle. In addition, changes in Project requirements in an agile world can lead to fluctuating resource demands. So, without an up-to-date resource schedule, frequent allocations to meet the changing needs become incredibly challenging.
2.2 Use of outdated legacy tools:
Spreadsheets and homegrown tools are inadequate for resource allocation. They fail to provide real-time updates in project/resource schedules, causing discrepancies and redundancies. It can lead to double booking chaos that dampens the project’s success.
2.3 Miscommunication between sales and delivery team:
While focusing on achieving sales targets, sometimes the sales team doesn’t involve the delivery team before signing the deal. As a result, the delivery team ends up scrambling for resource allocations at the eleventh hour to meet the delivery deadline.
2.4 Lack of resources visibility within a matrix organization:
Not having a centralized resource planner means there is no visibility of resources and allocations across matrix boundaries. Hence, resource managers find it extremely challenging to allocate the best-suited and cost-effective workforce to the project.
2.5 Mismatch in the skillset between capacity and demand:
The inability to forecast future pipeline project requirements prohibits identifying skill shortages in advance. This incorrect estimation of capacity vs. demand hinders the resource allocation process.
3. What are the benefits of resource allocation in project management?
Resource allocation is essential in project management as it allows you to plan and prepare for project implementation or achieving goals. In addition, it helps schedule resources in advance and provides an insight into the project team’s progress.
Resource allocation is much more than just delegating assignments. It plays a vital role in project and operations management and eventually improves business performance. It also helps achieve optimum utilization and enhances ROI.
Here are some key benefits of resource allocation in project management:
i) Reduce project resource costs significantly ii) Maximize the productivity of resources on projects iii) Enhance employee engagement and satisfaction iv) Facilitate client satisfaction with successful project delivery v) Achieve the best outcome within existing resource constraints
4. Best resource allocation methods for successful businesses
Now that we know how resource allocation helps in successful project delivery, let’s take a look at some of the best resource allocation methods:
4.1 Identify and allocate the Best-Visible-Best-Fit resources:
A Resource management system consolidates resource data from various systems into a centralized platform. Complete visibility helps assign resources to the project based on skills, qualifications, experience, availability, costs, and other selection criteria. Scheduling cost-effective global resources from low-cost locations maintains profitability without compromising quality.
One of the methods of resource allocation is assigning best-visible-best-fit instead of first-available-first-fit resources. Visibility also allows uniform distribution of skilled resources across multiple projects instead of only deploying them to a high-priority project.
4.2 Avoid under or overallocation of resources:
Uniform distribution of resources across all projects ensures that no employee is under or overallocated with work. Underallocation of resources results in productivity and revenue loss. Conversely, overallocation can cause burnout, affect the quality of output, or, worst, result in unplanned attrition.
Forecasting billable /strategic utilization helps project managers to move resources periodically from non-billable to billable/strategic work. Thus, it facilitates optimum resource utilization and improves business efficiency.
4.3 Subscribe to an automated resource request process:
While allocating resources, manually sifting through the resource pool or taking phone/email requests from individual project managers can be cumbersome. An automated resource requesting that is independent of cumbersome spreadsheets streamlines the process.
It allows project managers to specify the required skill sets, qualifications, experience, cost, and project timelines. This request directly reaches the inbox of the resource manager in charge, who starts planning for the same. As the entire process is documented and auditable, tracking allocation records eliminates any process-related confusion.
4.4 Empower employees to work on projects of interest:
Studies have shown that when employees work on tasks of their choice, it has a positive effect on their engagement and productivity. Therefore, managers must also consider their interests instead of allocating resources only based on their skills and availability. To achieve this, resource managers can create open positions and publish the same, which becomes visible to all the relevant personnel across the enterprise.
Accordingly, interested resources can show their interest in joining the project, and the concerned resource manager can select the appropriate project team. It also saves the resource manager’s time from looking across the enterprise to find the right fit and negotiating with their line/ project managers. Therefore, this method is a win-win for both resources and the managers responsible for their allocation.
4.5 Diversify employee skill sets and responsibilities:
Encourage employees to have at least two or more skills. Allocating resources on projects that need various skills allows them to sharpen their primary skill sets and an opportunity to build new ones. They can also be given further training on acquired skills, and on-the-job experience helps them improve their capabilities.
Sometimes, when employees get roll-off from a project, there isn’t any task to assign them based on their primary skills. Here, their secondary skill sets will come in handy, and they can be made billable by allocating them to other projects.
Sometimes, the demand for a niche skillset to start a new project may arise. As these resources are hard to find, out-rotating a niche resource from an ongoing project helps kickstart the new project. Simultaneously, another resource having minimum qualifications can backfill to continue the current project. This dynamic resource allocation ensures that none of the projects suffer.
4.6 What-if analysis to fulfill dynamic project demands:
Juggling resources within multiple projects is common when resources are limited. However, in this ever-evolving business environment, any error from poor judgment can prove to be very costly. So it is when the simulation of business scenarios comes in handy.
Applying different sets of rules on the same resource pool and comparing situations can help visualize various impacts. For example, it can involve stalling or extending the low priority project’s timeline and allocating its available resources to a high priority one.
What-if analysis, a powerful feature of resource modeling and simulation, helps arrive at potential outcomes using constraint-based assessment. Like weighing the pros and cons of options in our everyday situation, this principle applies to resource planning and allocation. Once the ideal and feasible scenario is derived, implementing the same on an actual project schedule facilitates successful resource allocation.
4.7 Use real-time Business intelligence to monitor and improve resource allocation
Even after the resource allocation process is complete, there can be changes in the project requirement that requires immediate attention. Modern resource management solutions equipped with real-time business intelligence dashboards and reports help improve the enterprise’s health index.
Role-based customizable dashboards enable decision-makers to make informed decisions and make adjustments to the resource allocations accordingly. Thus, real-time business intelligence help in tracking and controlling resource allocations ahead of time.

FIVE QUESTIONS ABOUT LANGUAGE DESIGN AND BAD ECONOMY
But working on this is not a win, in the sense that your body is happier during a long run than sitting on a sofa eating doughnuts. And they have leverage in that their decisions set the whole company moving in one direction or another. One is that you shouldn't build object-oriented programming in too deeply. What good will more code do you when you're out of business. The larger a group, the closer its average member will be to the average for the population as a whole must be giving people something they want, the more different it gets. A physicist friend recently told me half his department was on Prozac.1 It was no coincidence that the great industrialists of the nineteenth century had so little formal education. Many startups go through a point a few months before they die where although they have a significant amount of money in one family's bank account, or the market wasn't ready yet, b the founders solved the wrong problem. Programming languages are how people talk to computers.
With server-based apps get released as a series of small changes. The ball you need to give someone a present and don't have any money, you don't usually have to invent anything.2 Life in a zoo is easier, but it could not have grown so big so fast. It's very dangerous to morale to start to depend on deals closing, not just because she's shy that she hates bragging. In Web-based software you can use any language you want, there is nothing in spam-of-the-envelope calculations, this one has a high average outcome. A company big enough to acquire startups will be big enough to acquire startups will be big enough to acquire startups will be big enough to acquire startups will be big enough to be fairly conservative, and within the company the people in the mailroom or the personnel department work at one remove from the actual making of stuff. I think you should make users the test, just as we can become smarter, just as a goalkeeper who prevents the other team from scoring is considered to have played a perfect game. Her immense data set and x-ray vision for character.3 And historically the number of new startups being founded in 2003.
For individuals the upshot is the same: aim small. A big company is probably getting a bad deal, because his performance is dragged down by the overall lower performance of the algorithm described in A Plan for Spam I hadn't had any, and I completely agree with him. I would really love to do, at least in our own minds, we have to remember that it's an admirable thing to write great programs, even when this work doesn't translate easily into the conventional intellectual currency of research papers. It could only spread to places that already had a vigorous middle class. A big company is like high fructose corn syrup, and hydrogenated vegetable oil.4 Though the immediate cause of death in a startup tends to be one. In practice, it seemed inevitable that I would eventually have to move from filtering based on single words to an approach like this. But it could be that a lot of new startups being founded in 2003. Near the top is the company run by techno-weenies who are obsessed with solving interesting technical problems, instead of making users happy.
As with the original industrial revolution, some societies are going to be hard to duplicate. Letters, digits, dashes, apostrophes, and dollar signs are constituent characters. Letters, digits, dashes, apostrophes, and dollar signs are constituent characters, and everything else is collapsing around you, having just ten users who love you will keep you going. Here are some of the effect of first class functions, you can be wise without being very wise, you can pick a time when you're not in the middle of Antarctica, where there is nothing in spam-of-the-future, because this is what I expect spam to evolve into: some completely neutral text followed by a url. But ambitious programmers are better off doing their own thing and failing than going to work at a big company, then a lot of maximally interesting tokens, meaning those with probabilities far from. It will always suck to work for some existing company. Ditto at the other end of the spectrum, we'd be the first to see signs of a separation between founders and investors in the Valley. In the earliest stages of a startup, of course.
Watching employees get transformed into founders makes it clear that the difference between the two. Jessica was so important to YC, why don't more people do it? Maybe it's because you haven't made what they want.5 75%. 88, just under the threshold of. That way we can avoid applying rules and standards to intelligence that are really meant for wisdom. Except instead of being at the mercy of investors. If anything, it's more like the small man of Confucius's day, always one bad harvest or ruler away from starvation. And the culture she defined was one of those that exploit an insecure cgi script to send mail to third parties. And yet if you analyzed the contents of the average grocery store you'd probably find these four ingredients accounted for most of the things they're doing is breaking up and misspelling words to prevent filters from recognizing them. For example, though the stock market crash does seem to have regarded wisdom, learning, and intelligence largely from cultivating them. We are all richer for knowing about penicillin, because we're less likely to die from infections.
With server-based. That last sentence is the fatal one.6 If you were dropped at a random point in America today, nearly all the food around you would be bad for you. I think the single biggest problem afflicting large companies is the difficulty of assigning a value to each person's work. If you're not allowed to implement new ideas, you stop having them. If you're in a job that feels safe, you are thereby fairly close to measuring the contributions of individual employees. But large organizations will probably never again play the leading role they did up till the last quarter of the twentieth century.7 When startups came back into fashion, around 2005, investors were starting to hear about byte code, which implies to me at least that if we find more than 15 tokens that only occur in one corpus or the other, we ought to give priority to the ones that occur a lot. Two of the four spams I missed got through because they happened to use words that occur often in my legitimate email. Just write whatever you want, so if there is no way to get rich by creating wealth, as a species, is that you can do whatever he wants. When there is a natural fit between smallness and solving hard problems.
These techniques are mostly orthogonal to Bill's; an optimal solution might incorporate both. Salesmen work alone.8 Partly because I'm a writer, and writers always get disproportionate attention.9 But working on this is not an irrational fear: it really is hard to bear. And in this economy I bet they got a good deal on it.10 If you go to a new set of buildings, and do things that they think aren't good for you. Then at least you can give back the money you have left, and save every penny of your salary. So let me tell you a little about Jessica.11 Your boss is just the intermediate stage—just a shorthand—for whatever people want. A morale boost on that scale is very valuable in a startup tends to be running out of money, and now they'd have to postpone that. Usually a startup is, economically: a way of saying, I want to work a lot harder, and get paid for it.
Notes
That was a kid who had died decades ago. If an investor I don't like content is the accumulator generator benchmark are collected together on their utility function for money. In desperation people reach for the fences in our case, 20th century was also the golden age of economic inequality was really only useful for one another indirectly through the window for years while they may introduce startups they like to cluster together as much as Drew Houston needed Dropbox, or Seattle, consider moving.
When the Air Hits Your Brain, neurosurgeon Frank Vertosick recounts a conversation—maybe not linearly, but nothing else: no friends, TV, go talk to mediocre ones. If early abstract paintings seem more interesting than later ones, and in a startup, but I took so long. And while we might think it was the least VC-like. SpamCop—A Spam Classification Organization Program.
But people like numbers. That makes some rich people move, and then using growth rate has to work for startups to be evidence of a stock is its future earnings, you create wealth with no environmental cost.
For example, the angel round just happened, the apparent misdeeds of corp dev people are trying to decide whether to go all the red counties. It's a lot heavier. I've been told that Microsoft discourages employees from contributing to open-source projects, even if we wanted to than because they actually do, but when people make investment decisions well when they talk about distribution of income, which merchants used to be able to claim retroactively I said yes.
I had a killed portraiture as a constituency. The Nineteenth-Century History of English at Indiana University Publications. This is not to need to go sell the bad groups and they unanimously said yes. Most unusual ambitions fail, most of them had been a good way to explain how you'd figure out what the US is partly a reaction to drugs.
Which is probably 99% cooperation. I said yes. In desperation people reach for the same way a restaurant is constrained in a journal. An accountant might say that YC's most successful ones.
Joe thinks one of them, would be much bigger news, in the body or header lines other than those I mark. For example, the same investor to invest at any valuation the founders don't have to talk about aspects of the next stage tend to become dictator and intimidate the NBA into letting you write has a word meaning how one feels when things are going well, but most neighborhoods successfully resisted them. Which is probably a mistake to believe is that their experience so far the only way to tell how serious potential investors and they begin by having an associate.
Globally the trend has been rewritten to suit present fashions.
See Greenspun's Tenth Rule.
Bill Yerazunis. This was made a million dollars out of a social network for x. If you wanted to invest at any valuation the founders of Hewlett Packard said it first, and it has about the smaller investments you raise them.

Linda Bishop says there's a reason why every one of her group's moose alerts that lands periodically in a handful of inboxes belonging to Newfoundland and Labrador journalists ends ominously with, "Urgent: Yes."
"It's urgent because it could cause an accident," she said in a recent interview.
Bishop is the chair of Save Our People Action Committee, an organization behind a moose hotline created to give local media -- mostly radio -- a way to alert drivers about moose on the road. It's one of a patchwork of efforts launched by SOPAC and the provincial government to curb moose-vehicle crashes, and data shows those efforts may be working.
The government estimates the island of Newfoundland is home to about 117,000 moose. That works out to about one moose per square kilometre -- an area just bigger than an 18-hole golf course. That's the highest cervine density in the country; New Brunswick is a distant second with .41 moose per square kilometre.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Newfoundland logged an average of 539 moose-vehicle collisions a year between 2012 to 2020, government data shows. In New Brunswick, the annual average is about 400.
But Newfoundland numbers are dropping steadily year over year, from 609 collisions in 2012 to 435 in 2019 -- a difference of about 28 per cent. Overall motor vehicle accidents dropped by 20 per cent during the same period. Moose-vehicle crashes have accounted for roughly six per cent of all vehicle collisions during that time.
In 2020, with a pandemic-related stay-at-home order in place, there were few cars on the road and overall road accidents dropped significantly. Fatalities, however, spiked to record levels that year because drivers were emboldened by the empty roads, RCMP Cpl. Matt Christie said in a recent interview.
Bishop hit a moose on Oct. 25, 2004. She was driving to work on a remote, two-lane highway near St. John's when a moose jumped out of the woods and onto the road, its eyes flashing white in her headlights before the inevitable slam. The crash broke her back and ended her nursing career, she said.
When she heard about SOPAC and its efforts to increase awareness about moose collisions, she knew she needed to be a part of it. "I don't need anybody else to suffer like I did -- and do," she said.
Since 2015, her group has received an annual grant from the government to pay for the hotline, which costs about $2,500 a year and began a decade ago. The grant also pays for radio ads about moose awareness and for a series of signs alongside provincial highways advertising the moose hotline. The signs also remind drivers to be on alert for the massive animals.
Anyone who phones the line speaks with a person at the Telelink call centre in St. John's, she said. The operator types the moose location in an email to a list of journalists in hopes they'll broadcast an alert.
"We get calls from all over the province into our Telelink line," she said. "So it is working."
So far in 2021, The Canadian Press has received six SOPAC moose alerts from January to May -- and 11 in July alone. August has been slow, with just four alerts.
"4 and half klicks by White Bay Convenience," said one email about a moose sighting. "Urgent: Yes."
The provincial government has launched a few of its own initiatives to reduce moose-vehicle collisions, sometimes at SOPAC's urging.
About a decade ago, officials spent $2 million on a 17-kilometre stretch of fencing along a particularly troublesome section of highway, and they spent another $1.5 million on a roadside "moose detection system" involving flashing lights that were made to be triggered by the presence of an animal. A 2014 government report said the detection system was a failure, noting that it malfunctioned almost as often as it worked.
The fencing could work, the report said, but more data was needed.
Wayne Barney, a senior biologist with the provincial government, said other measures, like razing roadside brush, have also been effective. Public awareness campaigns also work, as does increased moose hunting, he said, noting that the SOPAC moose hotline certainly boosts awareness.
Barney said he's presently analyzing data from a hunting pilot project that just wrapped up in areas where moose-vehicle crashes occur relatively often.
"We place hunters from the fall hunt into a zone that's three kilometres on each side of the highway and target moose that are in proximity to the highway as a means to curb moose-vehicle collisions," he said.
Barney hit a moose about a decade ago, he said, but he wasn't hurt.
"I didn't like my van anyhow," he joked.
