My Leona Boyfriend HC Icks

(This is subjective, but you asked! Idk why I wanted to answer this ask before your other one… I guess I felt some type of way. It's a bit more ranty/bitchy so be forewarned. I’ve been in the fandom since the ENG release, so I've seen a lot of stuff that personally icks me. Dw I’ll get to your other ask!!)

Btw, I know some ppl won't like some of these opinions, but it's just my personal preferences at the end of the day! Friendly reminder: I am not the authority on Leona Kingscholar nor do I claim to be!!!

STINKY (But not metaphorically)

Why? He is an athlete and a prince? All the athletes I know bathe MORE than other ppl bc they get sweaty.  Besides…we all have bad hygiene when we aren't doing well mentally? So, this HC at best is just gross, and at WORST is offensive.  Also, just a question for ppl who do STILL this: Why would you WANT him to stink??? I never understood this mindset, even if he WAS that lazy. I simply wouldn’t wanna HC that he stinks. I love myself. GFBHNJM (Idia seems to get this stinky boy treatment too WHYY??? Sorry, I choose to believe my man smells good.)

HERBIVORE. (The H-Word)

I think where people lose me fast in Leona fics is hitting me over the head with the word “herbivore.” Honestly…he doesn't use the word as much as people think?? And I don’t think he would call his S/O at all. I find it mean? Because of the Japanese context of this word, and just the literal meaning. I think of it as more akin to the word “whimp” or “weakling.” It's not…cute to me? He doesn’t even use it for the MC later in the game as much. So, unless you're a lion beastman or fellow carnivore, I’d expect prey nicknames. Kitten, mouse, bird, bunny, etc. He even likens the MC to a “kitten” in a few voicelines. Just makes more sense to me, idk. Think of the silly nicknames he has for the canon cast. That or you know…he’d just use your name.

BRUTE BOYFRIEND

He's rude, sure. But no…Leona is NOT beating anyone up for looking/flirting with you. Would he be annoyed, maybe even secretly furious? Sure. But, he's not a “brute strength" kinda guy who uses his fists. (It’s almost like it's his main battle line!) If someone truly hurt you or did something off-color, he’d probably send someone else to do the dirty work to intimidate or deal with them.  In a real fight, OFC he'd defend you, but fighting cause some guy winked at you? NO. I don’t personally believe so. He’s a grown man with high intelligence, so I think high school like beef would be a bit beneath him?? At least he'd have one of his goons go do it.

ALOOF BOYFRIEND

I think where a lot of ppl lose me is the “aloof/stoic” bf thing.  No doubt he would keep his distance at the first instance of catching feelings because he doesn't wanna be hurt. At first, he’s only batting at you to gauge how you feel for him. But if he becomes seriously interested, and then you begin dating, I just don’t believe he would care what other people think. Or try to downplay your relationship. He’d wait for you to make the first real move, sure…but YOU’D KNOW. I just think about how he acted toward Sally in the last Halloween event and how he was almost “uncharacteristically” sweet to her. I think because Leona isn't super close to anyone in NRC—beyond a few of his frosh or respect-based relationships (like he has with Vil), we don’t see this side of him often, and so it comes as a shock.  Without spoiling anything, let’s just say…he was VERY unbothered at everyone's reaction to his soft side. He was focused on Sally and being nice to her. And if we apply this to “bf status Leona,” I think he’d be too focused on YOU to worry about what other ppl think of him. I’ve been preaching for years that this part of him always existed, and that now he just chooses who sees it. He saves his softness for very specific people he deems worthy of his time. Period. You’ll have to play a bit of a game to get on his good side, but like the motto of Savanaclaw: PERSISTENTLY proving to Leona that you care for him despite his flaws, he’ll come around. And when you're together, well- (I'll save that for the other ask) Especially if you are in an established relationship. He clearly thinks the world of you. He doesn’t have many close relationships, so you think he’s wasting his time with someone he wouldn’t even bother to be nice to??? Besides, Leona later in the main story becomes quite self-aware of his inability to reach out to others, despite craving affection desperately. He knows it's his blind spot, SO he's putting effort into being a good bf to you!

To further my above point, I think people forget he is a few years older than even the other 3 years, and…was raised by an old man? I think when ppl write him with low emotional maturity...it loses me. I get it, he's a brat. And often he CHOOSES to act like a petulant prince when it suits him. But, I think deep down esp in more serious situations, we’ve seen that he's wise, calm, and level-headed. Just some nuance, please.

“USING YOU AS A PILLOW”

Napping/cuddling together is no doubt one of the nicest things you can do with a partner. And I’ve even implemented this kinda thing in my writing. HOWEVER, there is a certain flavor of this I dislike. Esp when it’s “forced” on the reader/OC. Sometimes I find this is ALL ppl write about him in those HC posts, esp ones that aren’t Leona focused. That or “Leona dragging you off to be his pillow.”  (A bit of my life is taken every time I read this sentence now…) I know there are new folks coming into the fandom who may repeat old tropes, and that's fine! But, I STILL see this from people who have been here for yearssssssss. It's just cliche to me. I do believe he's a cuddly guy, EXTREMELY SO. It's just that specific phrase that icks me. Maybe it’s the implication that he does it against your will and is aggressive about it?? Just, no thanks.

"I CAN FIX HIM”

Okay maybe now we’re getting into the more controversial ones?? I think the idea of “tru wuv” fixing someone’s flaws is just unappealing as a concept to me and completely against what I think love is about. The “dragging him to class”, “making him dress up more,” or “forcing him to get along with his family” is not something I think he’d put up with. He’s grown, he's extremely stubborn, he knows he’s failing school. He doesn't need another person to nag him! Ruggie already does that! Plus, family relations are complicated. Idk…if someone I started dating tried to get me to talk with a family member who I felt genuinely hurt/neglected me, I’d be annoyed af??   I think he would find it all patronizing coming from a romantic partner. It's one thing if he chooses to be better himself or for his mental health to improve gradually, but forcing things on him and “nagging” him constantly about his behavior at school and at home is just what his family does so- He's flawed, VERY MUCH SO. But, I think when it comes to relationships…everyone has flaws they deal with easier in a partner than others. Like you can maybe deal better with someone being socially awkward, but can't stand your S/O having a messy room. Like if your “hard nos” are lazy people, your S/O dressing “sloppy,” or someone who can be petty and rude to others- Well, you get my point.  It's like....if you hate playing video games and wanna ship with Idia. My question is why?? I’m genuinely curious why you even like this character in the first place?? Hot take, (I guess) this is the reason I don't really ship LeoVil. It just rubs me the wrong way how it turns Leona into a “fix me” project thing. And not to mention how Vil talks to Leona canonically in a demeaning way. (I love you Vil, but you’re wrong.) Leona needs a kick in the ass for sure, all the twst boys do, but personally when a fic/ship leans too heavy on the dynamic of “I can fix/change him” it turns me off. As someone who's been in a long-term relationship… if your day-to-day lifestyles don’t align when living together…ya’ll are gonna be at each other's throats over the small stuff. That’s just how it works irl. And...I understand if everyone doesn't want to apply this logic to fictional ships.  I just personally am not fond of this dynamic. And with Leona being a beastman AND a POC, it often feels like a loaded trope to apply to him.

DISPOSABLE LION BOYFRIEND

Last one! (Maybe most controversial idk) I just think Leona is not good at being a romance rival, (assuming we're not talking about poly situation) despite him being competitive. While ofc I think it's possible for an MC or OC to have multiple crushes and things, I think Leona is someone who wouldn’t handle this well? Like, if Leona feels like he’s gotta compete for scraps of your attention, at a certain point...I'd think he’d just give up, or at least give you your space to come to him. He’s had to compete for attention his whole life, and I feel like he's too emotionally mature and ego-driven to put up with these kinds of games for too long? I DO think it's interesting to explore the dynamic of having multiple love interests!! I even do it for a lil drama! But…in gen I don’t prefer when it feels like Leona is just there to be the "the disposable love interest" considering all of his insecurities of being second. Honestly, in that case, I can see him giving an ultimatum? He's a grown man among...mostly teens, I PERSONALLY just can't see him being a love rival with a child. FGHJK

Anyways, I could go one. that's all I can think of for now!

Summary: While on a mission to find any more possible super soldiers that were a part of the Winter Soldier program, Steve and Bucky make a discovery in an abandoned HYDRA base that was cleared out a few years prior to their mission. They discover the Reader, a long-forgotten soldier that was still asleep within a functioning cryostasis pod; still awaiting orders. rehab masterlist. chapter 10 / chapter 11

When Steve and Clint arrived back in Wakanda, they were eager to tell the Avengers what they had found. However, when they arrived back at Shuri's lab, Tony looked as though he had seen a ghost. Steve frowned, and Natasha whispered to him.

"It's not looking too good right now. Shuri and Tony found the calling card for the creator behind the chip. Turns out that Tony's got a bit of history with the creator."

Steve and Clint walked into the lab where Tony was watching over the soldier with a hand to his chin in thought. Despite Steve greeting the man, Tony didn't seem to hear him. After a moment, Tony stated.

"You ever get this feeling that you're being haunted by something? No matter how much you try to get rid of it, it just keeps following you? Somehow, someway?"

Steve couldn't help but to think of Peggy, nodding solemnly before he turned to look at (Y/n) (L/n).

"Some things haunt me, some things just follow. I don't think they're entirely the same."

Tony scoffed, shaking his head as he quipped.

"Yeah, well it is in this case. You see, I just took apart that little chip that made MC 2 go haywire, and you know what I found? The calling card to a scientist that used to work closely with my father...someone that my father used to recall as a very good friend."

Steve was confused for a moment before connecting the dots, and he asked.

"Was his name Robert (L/n)?"

Tony nodded, and Steve couldn't help but to shake his head.

"Well, that explains a lot, actually."

"Why do you say that?"

Steve wordlessly handed Tony the file, and Bucky's eyes shot wide open.

"Wait, is that her file? You found her?"

Steve nodded, but his jaw was clenched so hard that Bucky was afraid to ask about it. Tony slapped the paper down onto the table roughly after a few moments of reading and walked out of the room wordlessly, and Bucky snatched the paper up.

(Y/n) (L/n).

The last name sparked a bit of recognition in Bucky, but he couldn't place the familiarity of the name just yet. Bucky was perturbed about the way Tony had reacted, and he asked.

"What's his deal?"

Shuri sighed and revealed gently, pulling up some documents of Robert (L/n).

"Robert (L/n) was a close friend of Howard Stark's up until Project Rebirth. After Erskine was assassinated and Heinz Kruger attempted to steal the serum, Robert continued HYDRA's work under the guise of a fellow scientist that wanted to defeat HYDRA."

"A double agent? How do we know all of this about him?"

Natasha raised a hand, stating.

"I found some files about him on the databanks that you and Bucky downloaded from the facility that the soldier was found in. I didn't think it was relevant at the time cause the files didn't include pictures, and we didn't know the name of the soldier yet."

Shuri nodded and she brought up a few pictures and files, the pictures of Robert and his unfriendly sneer. The man was overwhelmingly tall and quite lean, hair greased and combed while a mustache adorned his top lip. There was a woman next to him, looking happy as she held a hand to her pregnant belly; seemingly naive to the sinister gaze within Robert's eyes.

"This here is his wife, Doris (Y/n). We don't think she knew anything about Robert's double life with HYDRA...but she was also good friends with Maria Stark before Maria married Howard. She helped to deliver Tony when he was born."

Steve's eyebrows shot up, and Clint groaned gently, rubbing his head.

"Man, this is starting to hurt my head. So, Robert was with HYDRA, befriended and used Howard's trust to gain information on the serum...yet some other guy tried to snatch it? Why do that?"

Natasha replied, pointing out.

"If the attention isn't on you, you can get a lot more done."

Clint's expression changed to one of understanding, and Shuri nodded in agreement.

"Yes. Though, with Heinz being unsuccessful, Robert attempted to copy Howard's serum to the best of his ability. Robert was unsuccessful. In reports that he had made, almost all of the subjects that he experimented on did not survive any trial serums he made."

"So, how was he able to make (Y/n) into a super soldier?"

Shuri pursed her lips and brought up a newspaper article that went into detail about (Y/n)'s supposed death.

"While (Y/n) was on the way to Baltimore with her mother, they crashed into another vehicle after hitting ice. Their car caught fire, and both Doris and (Y/n) were announced dead at the scene."

"I'm guessing (Y/n) wasn't actually dead, and Robert or HYDRA picked her up."

Clint scratched his head, asking.

"Why go after her though? What made (Y/n) special?"

Natasha shrugged before offering with a slight wave of her hand.

"Robert must have used blood samples to specifically cater the serum to the subject, and (Y/n) was the only one that was successful."

Bucky grumbled, shaking his head.

"Hello, super soldier."

Steve nodded, and he turned to Shuri, asking her.

"Is Robert still alive?"

"No. Robert passed away from natural causes in 2008. I assume that this is when Rollins took over as her Handler, but we won't know for sure until (Y/n) wakes up."

Bucky suddenly felt bad, wondering if there was anybody else that might have been family for (Y/n), and Steve sat down next to Bucky, stating quietly as Shuri began to work on deprogramming the soldier.

"We found her, Bucky."

"We haven't found her yet. She's still trapped beneath that rubble somewhere...we just know her name now...know that she had a family...a career...a mom and dad..."

Steve pursed his lips, and Bucky revealed to the captain, giving him an intrigued expression.

"She somehow knows Meltzer Woods, and it's bothering me that I don't know why. You remember me telling you about how my folks and I would go on walks there often?"

Steve nodded, chuckling.

"Oh, yeah. I remember you telling me about how you terrorized Rebecca to the point your mom was livid with you one time while your dad was at the camp."

"Not my fault she had a fear of bugs and agreed to go into the woods."

The two men chuckled, and Bucky sighed, shaking his head. Steve muttered gently, patting Bucky on the back.

"It could just also be nothing...a huge coincidence."

Bucky shook his head, muttering.

"There are no such thing as coincidences when it comes to HYDRA."

Steve gazed long and hard at Bucky before looking back at the woman, watching as a machine carefully and slowly reconstructed the bone and tissue of her skull before it seemed as though she had never been operated.

"Am I interrupting?"

Tony walked in, hands in his pockets, and his cheeks and eyes were slightly red. It seemed as though the man had been crying, but neither of the super soldiers commented about it.

Tony stood at the end of the bed and stared at the woman, a neutral expression on his face before his shoulders fell slightly. Steve asked the man gently, sparing a look at Bucky before looking back at Tony.

"Do you want us to give you some space?"

Tony looked perplexed then, as if the question was one that he had never heard before, and he wasn't exactly sure how to respond. While Tony preferred to be on his own and do things on his own (minus Pepper, but she was a different case), Tony knew that there had to come a point when he stopped ostracizing those around him.

'Solitude and isolation are two completely different things, Tony, and I know that you struggle a lot with that because of your childhood with your dad,' his therapist had said.

'Why don't you try to reach out and be a little bit more open? You don't have to reveal everything at once, but take it a step at a time. Choose what you want them to listen to or help you with. With what you've told me, I think the Avengers just really want to be your friend, and that's okay.'

"One step at a time," Tony muttered to himself before he huffed, glancing down at the ground. Tapping his foot with anxiety, Tony crossed his arms and began to speak.

"There's this feeling that nags at me every time I look at your stupid perfect faces...this feeling of just...trying to understand why my dad was apart of something as big as this."

Steve and Bucky both sat back in their seats, almost at attention as Tony began to open up to them.

"It's because of my dad's work that led to you being Captain America, that led to your torture and time as Winter Soldier, and now...now he's directly linked to her. Granted, it wasn't really him directly...but he sure did have a big hand."

Erskine's face crossed into Steve's mind, and Steve looked away, replying.

"Howard wanted to ensure a way that we could fight against HYDRA and the Nazis so that the Allied forces could win the war. I don't think he meant for things to turn out like they did."

"Sometimes I wish I could go back into time and just choke the bastard. All that goddamn intellect and look where it got us."

Bucky was quiet, glancing down at his metal arm before he looked at Tony. He wasn't really sure what to say; if anything at all. How could you comfort the man whose parents you killed? That wasn't exactly a can of worms that Bucky wanted to open. Instead, he stated.

"I think what is important now is that we give this woman a life and finally eradicate HYDRA once and for all. If not for her, then...for you and Howard."

He gave Tony a gentle but shy look; hoping that the man wouldn't lash out at him, and Tony looked as though he wasn't sure what to say. Placing a hand over his chest and the other onto his chin, Tony hummed.

"If Rollins already knew that she had been awakened and thought that she would be a liability, then that means there has to be a main line to the chip. If we can trace that, then we should be able to find Rollins."

Natasha suddenly plopped down beside the soldier, throwing a thumb drive onto the table with a haughty smirk as she kicked her feet up.

"Did I really outsmart Iron Man? I think I should add that to my resume."

"You don't have a resume. You legally can't."

Tony quipped back with a roll of his eyes and he snatched the thumb drive as Natasha just grinned wider.

"Listen, miracles happen all of the time, but that doesn't mean they happen again in the same lifetime. Don't get your hopes up, spider-granny."

"Did you just call me old?"

Tony shrugged before uploading the files that were onto the drive into his computer, and he brought up a hologram of the earth, a beacon of light shooting up from the main source of the signal. Tony sighed gently, tilting his head.

"You know, I was dreaming about Morocco last night."

"Fez, Morocco?"

Steve questioned, looking a bit confused before he turned to Natasha.

"What's there?"

"If I had to guess: another secret base for HYDRA?"

Steve pursed his lips as Natasha just shrugged, and Bucky crossed his arms as he stood tall.

"We should get there as soon as possible. The faster that we catch Rollins, the better off we'll be."

"Slow your horses, MC 1, we need to be smart about this."

Tony gave Bucky a firm look, and Bucky just squinted his eyes as Tony began to explain.

"It's possible that Rollins knows that we know about the chip. We want to stay ahead of the game here. Luckily, we have the answers right here."

Tony brought up another hologram that pictured a document with a list of names.

"FRIDAY, you wanna read this out?"

The AI immediately answered, zooming in on each city she named out.

"Of course, Mr. Stark. After scanning through all of the documents that were recovered from liberated and abandoned HYDRA bases, as well as scans through the black book and red book, I have compiled a complete list of all mentioned HYDRA bases, as well as a list of possible locations as well. Here are the locations."

Isle Trinidad, South America. (Liberated, NLA.)

The Shelf, Antarctica. (Location Unspecified. Possible operation.)

Himalayas (Location unspecified. Possible operation.)

The Red Room, Russia. (Destroyed. NLA.)

Swiss Alps, Switzerland. (Directly mentioned. Possible operation.)

"There were many more locations mentioned, but since they have been destroyed and are no longer active, I have elected to leave those out. There has been no indication of a base in Fez, Morocco. It is possible that Mr. Rollins has planted the main communicator in order to escape."

Natasha hummed, nodding.

"That's the smart move. Rollins seems to already know that we're after him. The best thing that he can do is plant the communication device then get the hell out of dodge while we're on a wild goose chase."

Steve shook his head, huffing deeply.

"We can't investigate a possibility without having concrete evidence of his presence. If we go in somewhere blind, we're not only giving Rollins the upper hand, but we open ourselves up to risk as well."

Bucky added while glancing back at (Y/n).

"There's a possibility that Rollins knows that we're here. If we're all busy with a mission trying to find him, he could come here to retrieve her."

Tony shrugged, offering.

"Okay, then let's wake her up. See how bad her brain is scrambled and see if she knows where Rollins could be."

Steve became stern, shaking his head.

"Tony, that's not possible. (Y/n) needs time to recover and heal. If we overwhelm her, we're only going to hurt her."

Tony ran a hand through his hair, looking frustrated, and Steve said carefully.

"We're going to bring Rollins to justice and we're going to eradicate HYDRA once and for all. I promise you that."

"Oh, don't you go all patriotic on me. It's not even the fourth of July yet."

Bucky pursed his lips to keep from chuckling as Steve glared at Tony, and Natasha just rolled her eyes.

"So, why don't we compromise? We have a whole team of people back at the compound that we can send out to each location to cut any and all possibilities. I can already think of some teams to get together."

Tony's eyebrows raised, a skeptical look on his face as he asked.

"Yeah? What you got, Romanoff?"

Natasha hummed, shrugging her shoulders.

"FRIDAY gave us three locations, Wakanda being a possible fourth because of the soldier being here. King T'Challa, Shuri, and Bucky can stay here to watch over her since they're already here. Since you and Pete have heated suits, I think you two and maybe Banner could go to the Shelf. Clint, Wanda, and I can go to the Swiss Alps. Steve, Thor, and Sam Wilson can go to the Himalayas."

Steve made an expression of approval, but Tony shook his head, stating.

"I really don't want to involve the kid in this."

"Tony, he's an Avenger too."

Tony snapped, standing up straight as he glared at Steve.

"Yeah, and he's still a goddamn kid, Cap. I'm not involving him. End of discussion. I'll have Vision go instead."

Bucky offered, shrugging his shoulders.

"Okay, so what if he came here? He'd still be safe, and we could benefit from his webs in case something happens or (Y/n) freaks out. He's not in as much danger as he would be out in the Shelf."

Natasha muttered, looking off to the side.

"Or you could stop babying and let the kid be a hero. He's got the neighborhood under control, I hear."

Tony whipped his gaze towards Natasha, a look of betrayal on his face, and Natasha stared right back. Tony huffed and gave Bucky a harsh look.

"Fine. I'll have Underoos come here, but you're responsible if something happens. Do you understand?"

Bucky nodded, and Tony muttered to himself.

"I'm going to regret this somehow. I know it. Let's just get everyone suited up."

Tony stalked off, and Natasha patted Bucky's arm, making him slightly recoil and give her an unamused look as she walked by.

"Nice thinking on your end."

Bucky grumbled to himself, and Steve asked Bucky with a gentle voice and kind expression.

"You gonna be okay?"

"As much as I wanna kick Rollins' face in, I wouldn't be any help to the team. I'll lose control if I see him...so it's best that I stay here."

Steve nodded before he embraced the man, Bucky tensing slightly before awkwardly hugging the man back.

"I'll keep you updated and let you know if I find anything. First thing."

Bucky nodded, and Steve saluted Bucky with a shit-eating grin before walking off. When Bucky was finally alone, his shoulders dropped, an exhausted look coming across his face before he sat down next to the soldier.

(Y/n) (L/n) looked peaceful. There was no pain, no indication of dreams or nightmares, and she looked even younger without the fear and anger on her face. Despite the horrific scars that lined the bottom half of her face and the grease within her hair and the oil on her skin, Bucky had to think that she was pretty.

'You were right...she is pretty.'

STORY NOTES: Steve and Clint have arrived back in Wakanda. Despite the success of their mission, they come back to Natasha warning them that Tony is not in a very good mood after he and Shuri successfully took the chip apart and identified the creator, who is revealed to be Robert (L/n). Tony asks Steve if he ever feels as though he is being haunted, which Steve replies accordingly.

Steve then gives the file containing information about the soldier and her father, and Tony becomes upset and walks out of the lab. Bucky is elated that Steve was able to find out who the soldier was, and when Bucky is finally able to know her name, he is perturbed by a feeling of familiarity from it. He asks what was wrong with Tony, and Shuri goes into depth about the history Robert and Howard Stark had together, as well as (Y/n)'s mother and Maria Stark.

Clint is confused by Robert playing a double agent while another HYDRA agent attempted to steal the serum, which Natasha explains that 'if the attention isn't on you, you can get a lot more done,' implying that Heinz was just a useful distraction. Steve asks how (Y/n) was able to be turned into a super soldier, and Natasha theorizes that Robert had used blood samples to test the serum with, and (Y/n) was the only match out of all his experiments.

After a few more minutes of discussion and Bucky is left alone with Steve, Shuri, and (Y/n). Steve attempts to comfort Bucky, reassuring him that they had been able to find her, but Bucky does not agree that she is completely saved yet. He reveals that he is still bothered by the soldier knowing about Meltzer Woods, and Steve suggests that it is a coincidence.

Tony enters the lab, and though he is uncomfortable, he reflects on the advice his therapist has given him about being more open to vulnerability and depending on others. He begins to reveal the way he is feeling to Steve and Bucky and how he is angry at his father for being apart of Project Rebirth while knowing how dangerous the work he was doing was. While Steve comforts Tony, Tony is too upset to understand what Steve is saying. Bucky offers comforting words as well, and Tony is unable to reply.

Instead, Tony begins to talk about Rollins and the main signal for the chip. The signal is traced to Fez, Morocco, and Bucky jumps the gun, wanting to leave. However, Tony refutes Bucky's thinking, stating that the Avengers need to be smart about this mission. Tony theorizes that Jack Rollins might already know that the Avengers know about the chip. Instead, he has FRIDAY bring up a list of known HYDRA bases that were mentioned or alluded to in the data they had recovered.

FRIDAY indicates that Rollins could have planted the main communicator since there is no known HYDRA activity at all within Fez, and Natasha agrees that it was a smart move. Natasha then suggests that the Avengers split into teams to go to or stay in each respective location (Swiss Alps, Himalayas, Antarctica, and Wakanda). She suggests that T'Challa, Shuri, and Bucky stay in Wakanda; Tony, Peter Parker, and Bruce Banner go to Antarctica; Clint, Wanda Maximoff, and Her go to the Swiss Alps; Steve, Thor Odinson, and Sam Wilson go to the Himalayas.

Tony immediately refutes involving Peter Parker because he is just a kid, but Steve and Natasha both tell him to stop 'babying' him and let him be an Avenger. Bucky decides to alleviate the issue by suggesting letting Peter come to Wakanda since he could be a big help, and Tony relents, making sure to tell Bucky that if something happens to Peter, he would be responsible. After a bit of conversation with Steve, everyone begins to gear up, and Bucky is left alone with the soldier. He begins to think that despite the scars and unwashed hair and skin, the soldier was right that the woman she had seen, (Y/n) (L/n), was pretty. End scene.

HIII HELLO ODELIE!!! Hope You're having a nice day/night, especially after that card incident! I'm gonna get straight to the point, because quite frankly, I'm very bad at starting up messages (and this is probably my 2nd or 3rd ask on Tumblr, EVER)– I LOVE the way You portray the reader in Your Sage of Truth fanfic! I'm personally more of a Pure Vanilla gal myself–something about him scratches my brain in just the right way (another reason I love Your blog <3 ), but Your Sage of Truth characterization.... Amazing. Jaw dropping. Makes me giggle and kick my feet like a lovesick schoolgirl. Just the right amount of compassionate & understanding, and ABSOLUTELY intimidating (because of both his patience AND authority). BUT! Back to the reader; I really enjoy that we can actually see them STRUGGLE. We can see the gears turning in their head, the knowledge doesn't just come to them with a snap of the finger or materialize in their head out of thin air. They have to work for it, and oh boy, do they work HARD! When it comes to the teacher/student, or mentor/protégée trope–I notice that the readers (who are most often the students/protégées in question) are often quite glamorized, so to speak. In a lot of fanfics with said trope, we don't really see the struggle of a student desperately trying to keep up with their peers, feeling like they are somehow worse or dumber for not immediately understanding hard concepts and ideas. And don't get me wrong, not every fanfic has to show that! But I have to say, I found it quite comforting–to see a reader that a LOT of people, myself included, can relate to. Someone who IS more than willing to learn– but someone who also needs time, patience, and compassion too.

And on another note; I ADORE their little friend group, too. Reminds me so much of my own friends and how we jokingly bully each other. Hazelnut Biscotti is an absolute mood.

You know what's really funny I'm a pure vanilla person too but my audience seems to really really love shadow milk cookie, which I love both and found myself almost faltering and betraying Pure Vanilla but I am true to myself and at heart Pure Vanilla is my #1!

The sage of truth to me is someone who is kind and compassionate, the reason he isn't as theatrical right now currently in the story is because he isn't particularly close to the reader yet so he isn't going to disrupt the boundary of student and tutor because we haven't gotten there yet. But also, in the KR version (I've said before I go based off of the KR voice lines) he is more soft-spoken less theatrical and a lot more kind. His voice lines reflect that, but the tone is just so much kinder, and it has this sense he always wants to see people enlightened with knowledge and encouraging other cookies to disagree with him. Of course, he will ask for evidence and all that jazz. And this gives me a chance to address some questions I've gotten frequently, the (y/n) or mc or whatever anyone prefers, is NOT stupid. And to the people who asked no this is not me reprimanding you because I understand however, I wanted this to be realistic. Think about it being at an academy where "The Sage of Truth" is I imagine it's a very competitive place to be and the classes are extremely difficult the reader got there somehow which means no they are not dumb but the academic life at a rigorous level is difficult for anyone.

I also wanted to reflect on how hard it is that some professors do in fact call out students who don't know the material, but I know a majority of them do it because they want to see you succeed. I think I did include that the reader had been previously attending office hours with Professor Almond Custard Cookie if not this is now canon to the story. Which is why the professor knows them by name and calls on them in class. It has definitely happened to me before irl too except I don't know why my professor knows my name...I guess it's because I was in a discussion section with them...anyways I rambled but my point is I wanted to make an interesting story about what I think Shadow Milk could have been like while using my own experiences to shape the story, which is only really in the academic sense.

I also wanted to base the cookies on friends I have now and have had in the past, I didn't really want them to come across as yes men to the reader but as actual friends and what I think is the most fun dynamic between friends. I wanted the cookies in the story to seem like they were their own thing. Reading all of this I didn't mean for all of this to come out poetically or anything, but I really am passionate about writing.

Love Interests and some discussions.

Hello y'all, good morning, noon or evening. Today i would like to finally address the elephant in the room that is: character's ages.

So i'll rip off the bandaid and be clear: i'm not changing them, they're remaining canon.

Yall are prolly thinking "But in't mc 500???? isn't that bad? why not age them up!" 

For two reasons.

1: These boys and their behavior is extremely juvenile most of the time, i don't think the first years suddenly being 2 years older should happen without significative changes in their personalities. Yes, i'm aware that 2 years is barely enough time for someone to change much specially teens(I'm turning 21 like next week and i have trouble reminding myself i'm not a minor anymore, that's how little this shit can change if at all). But due to the nature of NRC and the ppl in it these characters would undergo so many things in their lives inside these 2 years that it doesn't feel right to me to make them act the same or even worse speculate on how, for example, older Ace or Epel would act without canonical material for that.

2: Wheter people like it or not NRC is a HighSchool. Yes, yes i know that y'all are probably going "WHY IS IT CALLED COLLEGE THEN". 

*Sigh* Y'know, eve since all we had for this game was the jp website and Malleu's illustration where he's rising from his coffin and nothing else i just had the feeling english speakers would have trouble with the school's name.

You see, college can mean "school" in other countries, not necessarily university.

I know that cause i'm brazillian, we literally have the word "Colégio" which is a synonym for Escola(School). In japanese it's essentially the same and that's a mistake made by JP Disney who didn't consider this when naming NRC.

Japan has many synonyms for school and since college can mean school they didn't think too much about it despite having a very different word for university (Daigaku).

And i'm a firm believer that relationships between some immortal being and a human is always going to end up in some kind of difference and if you're gonna problematize it you're gonna end up not ever watching or reading ANYTHING anymore, specially Lillia stans.

• Molten is basically taking a backseat in the plot but he is still important. Its time to give the others time to shine :)

• Lefty (I miss him) is probably the closest to a protagonist in this story. He's basically pushing the plot forward with his actions. But alas, he's a fucking coward so it's probably gonna focus on the animatronixs and Lefty's fear first before anything else happens.

• You're probably wondering why I said Lefty is the protagonist in this story but the one I posted has Bryan as the protag. Well you see, I planned a prequel and a sequel. With the prequel as Bryan being the MC and Lefty as the MC in sequel. The prequel is basically just me revisting season 1 and rewriting it and just putting Bryan and the animatronics through outlandish situation but less focused on the portal. Like making Bryan learn drifting. The portal is still there of course but it plays a very minor role. Although there are some things I wanted to try with it like making them join MCC XDDDDD. Its just me having fun. There's plot there but not like the sequel has with Lefty as the MC.

• Glitchtrap? He pulled a Springtrap and is in a computer. You know where this is going.

• Valerie? She doesn't die.

• Sun? Moon? Steve? They'll turn up eventually.

• Security Breach Mode? Aha. Ha. He's a security animatronic for a reason. Moon isn't yet he is anyway.

Even when I hated Descendants as a EAH fan, I have grown fond of it over time, not enough to expect something more than cringe (but good) songs and choreos.

But this thing about not wanting to be evil like her mother and not wanting to be Queen and wanting to have her life, destiny and future is... Familiar...

I know I said my only expectation was songs but there's too much and half of them weren't really necessary. Would've like to have a song to present Red AND Chloe instead of that introduction for Chloe where the focus was on her parents.

As I've said, with time I've have grown fond of this franchise, and that was mostly because of how they portrait the characters, how a villains doesn't born but they're created by the context where they live, by the example of their parents and relatives, by the environment where they grow up, that was the difference between both franchises, EAH about expectations of other people of what you're going to do with your life as if it belonged to them while Descendants about prejudices and punishment based on them.

This was just so void, there's only 2 MCs and both feels so incomplete, really expected that at the end Ella were going to become a villain but no and I know the consequences of changing the past will going to wait for a sequel but it felt just fast and obvious even for the usual predictability of Disney. I didn't empathize with either of them, while watching Mal or Raven's problems with they're mothers are heartbreaking more than just "She doesn't like how I look and how I think" but about how they don't care about their kids at all and only see them as tools. And while they try to do the same with the relationship between Red and her mom it doesn't work if you just tell me it with words, both MCs are absolutely boring and there isn't even a villain to make the movie a little interesting.

Seeing how Tohma gives the MC the wildest tasks related to Jin just to get a laugh out of it, it reminds me of Dragon Ball Super, where a character named Whis sent Goku and Vegeta to change Beerus' bedsheets it a 10 minute tense situation where they had to do it without waking him up. Do you have any headcanons on other things he might have asked the MC to do?

Lol I feel like Jin gives the PC more wild tasks than Tohma. Jin's the one who's like "clean my room and my clothes because they got a little dirty" and "give me a massage--no, harder than that" to both Tohma and PC. Then again, Tohma also deliberately ignored Jin's messages and left behind paperwork so Jin would make the PC get it, only to take care of it himself and make the whole process moot. . .okay he might give them some silly pointless tasks just to force them to spend time together and entertain himself with the outcomes.

I think Tohma's goal is more to force Jin to get used to the PC and being used to/relying on other people than his own entertainment--he just happens to be entertained in the process. That being said, Jin almost never leaves his room, so Tohma has to find ways to get them in there without being there himself.

Honestly doing what they ask is part of the PC's job(at least, to some extent,) so he rarely even needs excuses when it comes to tending to Jin. Doesn't need to ask anything unusual either. . .or nothing unusual for him to do for Jin anyway. The PC is one of Jin's servants now--and maybe they could even help him after graduation when he's working at the Institute properly. So best to make sure they're familiar with everything that could possibly be asked of them now. It's a lot of menial tasks, especially early on before he can really trust them.

Tohma's busy making something else for Jin or solving some other problem that's arisen, so take Jin's tea/meal to him. The officials at Darkwick are expecting him, so here's Jin's finished laundry. Oh, none of it is folded? Silly him. Their 'King' will be cross if he doesn't see that it's at least done, so you can fold it in his room. Some of it needs to be hung up too anyway. Off they go.

Sometimes he really is busy--Jin isn't his only priority after all, between official Darkwick business and the spy situation and his mysterious health problems--so he just asks the PC to fill in for him for the day once he trusts them enough. Plus Jin sends him on missions--someone has to check on the guy while he's gone.

There's a party in the Frostheim ballroom--Jin even agreed to attend! Tohma has to host however, so do him a favor and help Jin get ready. Oh, they got there and Jin said he never agreed to attend a party. . .what a silly mistake. Well, keep him company while Tohma handles the party, alright?

Oh and god forbid the pc have any interest in classical music. Tohma canonically can't tell which musician is which so if pc knows then that is 100% their problem! If they don't though maybe they'll be able to figure it out better than Tohma can. . .so he'll have them periodically come in and listen to Jin explain which one is which so he can ask them to take care of the music for him instead. Because he can't get these names straight.

Of course after catching a sickly Jin lying with his head in their lap he has a new assortment of tasks for them. The Captain seems lonely, so why don't you stop by? Don't mind too much if he scolds you, if he let you in that means he wanted you there. Will you take care of the flowers on the balcony for me? Jin only begrudgingly allows me to do so, I think you would be more befitting of handling something so precious to him. He seems to respond well to you, so will you go wake him up? He actually has something to do today for once.

Of course it'll be a while before he trusts them for real, so it's a good while before they get any interesting demands I'd say. The most interesting demands come from Jin himself. Tohma's commands are mostly just training and to get them in the door I'd say lmao.

I'M SORRY I CAN'T REALLY COME UP WITH A GOOD ANSWER TO THIS. I FEEL LIKE TOHMA DOESN'T GIVE TOO MANY ABNORMAL COMMANDS. He's about practical instruction--something like 'fold everything and put it in the drawer you have 15 seconds' is unreasonable and if anyone would have unreasonable demands I think it's Jin. Or Taiga. Like "i'm gonna take a nap in my bed, i want you to change my sheets before i wake up" is absolutely a jin command lmao HE WOULDN'T BE SERIOUS ABOUT IT. Drake's Election 2023 story - I'm addicted to his XXX

This is a pretty fun story, good to get an idea of his character. It doesn't contain big spoilers for his route (basically they'll really only be spoilers if you know what to look for already) but it gives some idea of his personality.

I have gone a little loose with this translation to make the sentences flow a bit more naturally. I also use the name Mitsuki for the MC, after the 'canon' name chosen for the manga.

...If I were a vampire, perhaps this is how we would have met. An encounter that makes me want him more and more, as if spiraling into addiction--

Drake: Now, come here, little deer. As promised, my blood is yours.

On a moonless night, standing by the deserted banks of the Seine, Drake tilted his head to the side, baring his neck as if in invitation.

(...This relationship... it isn't right.)

My first encounter with the man standing before me with his neck exposed--with Drake--was a few months ago...

That day, I'd been out in town when I was suddenly overcome with an overwhelming bloodlust. Drake had called out to me, asking if I was alright... ...But I ended up drinking his blood. And yet, he who should have been the victim in that situation looked at me without fear, and said something completely unexpected.

Drake: ...Next week, come to the Seine. If you get on my boat, I'll let you have my blood. Drake: You've always held yourself back from drinking directly from people until now, haven't you? Drake: If you accept my terms, you can drink from me as much as you want.

...

He had laughed and said he had made that deal because he wanted customers, since he was a sailor who offered boat rides along the Seine. But I don't know the real reason he offered. Regardless, that's how our relationship began, and it's still going on now.

Drake: Come on, what's the matter?

I caught a glimpse of the old bitemarks I left on his neck, still visible even now. My throat felt dry as I swallowed.

(No, stop... If I keep staring at the marks, I won't be able to hold myself back.) (Lately, the only thing I've been drinking is Drake's blood...)

Since I began drinking Drake's blood, I slowly lost my ability to drink Rouge. And yet, my hunger for blood seemed to grow stronger and stronger in response.

Mitsuki: I... We can't keep doing this anymore. It's like I'm just using you as a food source...

Drake: ...

Mitsuki: There's a replacement for blood I can drink, it's called Blanc--

I pulled a small bottle of Blanc from my purse, but Drake swiped it from my hand and flung it into the river.

Mitsuki: Drake! Why did you--

Before I could finish speaking, he wrapped his arms around me and pulled me close.

Drake: Something like that can't satisfy you anymore, am I wrong? Drake: Be honest with me, Mitsuki. Say you want me.

(I...)

Drake's bare skin right in front of my eyes, his warmth, his scent... Every part of him was an invitation.

(No, I- I can't hold back anymore...)

The hunger I'd been suppressing overwhelmed my restraint, and I sank my fangs into the curve of his neck.

Drake: Ah... Hah...

(This flavor... Drake's flavor...)

His tantalizingly sweet blood quenched the ache in my throat, his ragged breaths in my ear sent my pulse racing.

Drake: Hey, have you realized yet? Your fangs are more honest than you are. Drake: They're saying, "Give me more"... Begging for what your instincts crave.

(Is this instinct? Is that what's pulling me towards Drake...?) (This isn't just sating hunger. It's as if he's satisfying my entire being, body and heart.)

Have I fallen for Drake?

Drake: Nn... Haha-- You're feeding so desperately. What would you do without me...?

Mitsuki: If... If you weren't here, I--

Drake: Heh... That look on your face, you're completely addicted to me, aren't you? Drake: ...Might as well give you that last little push.

An animalistic light gleamed in his aquamarine eyes. And then--

Mitsuki: Nn-- Ahhh...!?

A sharp pain pierced through my neck- Drake had bitten me.

Bitten for the first time, a surge of pleasure beyond anything I'd ever experienced before ran through my entire body. If Drake's arms hadn't been supporting me, I would have collapsed from the waves of sheer sensation flooding through me.

Mitsuki: Drake--ahh... why....?

Drake: Hah... Haha. Mm... I knew you were a vampire from the very beginning. That's why I called out to you that time. Drake: I thought you'd make a fun plaything.

Mitsuki: Plaything...?

Drake: To let you drink from me, until you were completely addicted to me. Drake: I don't really like vampires much, you see.

(Wait, so- so he's not a vampire? But, more importantly...)

The thought that I'd just been dancing in the palm of his hand from the very beginning made my heart ache. However--Drake's intense eyes kept looking straight at me.

Drake: ...It's all just a game. But it'd be a shame to end things so soon, don't you think? Drake: So this time, let me satisfy my fangs with your body.

(...It doesn't matter. Nothing matters anymore. I want Drake, I need him-)

I didn't know what he was thinking, what he was feeling. But we sought each other out anyway. As if succumbing to our basest instincts.

Reality TV

Marty sees his old friend on TV after many years.

Infamous-IF fanfiction, implied F!MC x Oriana, 1,770 words, General Audiences. Not canon-compliant.

Saturday night, Marty slouches on his new couch curled up next to his… girlfriend. Yeah. His girlfriend. He rests his chin on top of her head and wonders how long it's been since their first date. Should he say something about it? How serious they're becoming? Maybe he should do a nice dinner, get some flowers or something—

"—Marty, you work for a… music company, don't you? What do you think of this show?" Anna shifts and looks up from the TV, the Battle of the Bands logo shining in it's iconic red and black, back from a commercial break. Her fingers pull at her coily hair, an action that momentarily distracts Marty from his train of thought.

The Battle of the Bands. Marty rolls his eyes. Every summer, each record label—not only Heavenly Isle—has their eye on every band that performs, hoping to get a scrap of whatever cash flow that show brings in. Because God knows Carolina Records needs it. When his old friend first brought up the idea that Carolina was on the decline, Marty thought she was crazy. But now, he's not so sure… Regardless, he's sick of hearing about the show.

"It sure is important." Marty chews the inside of his cheek. He can't say much, not really, because most of the time at work he's on LinkedIn searching for a new opportunity if things go south. Just in case. If he and Anna get serious, they'll need the extra cash to make it happen. "Got any favorites? Tell me which one's the hot one. I won't judge, I promise."

Anna laughs and he feels the fluttering in her chest on top of him. "I think the lead singer of… the third band is kinda cute. I've listened to a few of their songs—anyway, I'm more interested in the drama, to be honest?"

"Do tell." Marty can't give less of a shit but it's Anna. She could make a history lesson interesting. He stares at the band playing currently, and a flicker of recognition flows through him. Hm. The lead singer is giving her all, raging across the stage, singing a melody that isn't half-bad.

"Okay!" Anna clasps her hands together. "So you know the band that's playing right now? Chaos Anthem?"

Marty gives a noncommittal grunt. He thinks it's a stupid name, but at least the music's good.

Anna takes it as a sign to keep going. "According to someone on Twitter, the lead singer of Chaos Anthem used to date the lead singer of Soft Violence." He recognizes another contender for BoTB— a punk rock band with that one viral song he's listened to once or twice. "They had a fallout, their individual accounts unfollowed each other, and their official statement was that they had 'artistic differences'." Anna's fingers curl to form quotation marks.

The gears are turning in Marty's head— if this is the drama that the bands are coming in, then that's a vote in Chaos Anthem's favor. Imagine the drama if they were able to compete with each other. He nods along, half to the music, half to Anna.

She keeps going about a few other bands he doesn't give a shit about, the puzzle of half-recognizing the name of Chaos Anthem in his head. He's met a million bands and soloists over his career, so why does that band stand out compared to all the rest?

The song ends as soon as it began in a cacophony of applause. The commercials begin Marty shifts underneath Anna, relieving the static-y sensation of a half-asleep foot.

"Want me to order a pizza?"

"Mmhmm. Hawaiian, please?"

"Ugh, gross. Pineapple on pizza? We're gonna have to half it."

"Thaaaaank-you." Anna turns around and throws her arms around his neck, nuzzling her face underneath his chin. A current of warmth flows through him. Being committed doesn't seem half-bad anymore.

The pizza comes when the judges are deciding their final entrant in their competition. The smell of cheese and carbs fills the air, the open box on the coffee table revealing a half-Hawaiian, half-meat lover's pie. Anna smiles when she picks out a slice from her half, full lips curling, and Marty feels like the luckiest man in the world. 

And then it hits him.

"Remember the old friend from work I told you about?" Marty says it so quickly he almost spat out a half-chewed piece of bacon.

Anna's eyebrows shot up. At least she has the decency to chew quickly and swallow. She's got an ear for drama, that woman. "The one who married her co-worker?"

"Haha! Yes!" Marty snaps his fingers and clears his throat. "Okay. Yes." He can feel Oriana's familiar coldness from where he is right now. Gossiping about a co-worker? Inappropriate. 

"What about her?" A flicker of jealousy runs through Anna, and Marty immediately feels like groveling.

"Babe, it's not like that, trust me." He pats her thigh and he doesn't miss the way she relaxes in his touch. "That band—Chaos Anthem—she manages them now."

"So?"

"So?!" Marty forgets what's juicy to him might not be to Anna. "She was crazy enough to drop everything at Carolina Records to be with them! A job hauling in almost six figures! To be with a bunch of nobodies!"

Anna pauses, and tilts her head in thought. Her eyes flicker. "As weird as that might be, she might be following her heart. And besides, these 'bunch of nobodies' are on TV."

Of course Anna would understand. She left her job as an accountant to become a mildly successful painter, selling commissions on Etsy. There is a portrait of Marty's old dog hanging down the hall— what was supposed to be a Christmas gift. He slipped twice the amount of a commission's worth in Anna's wallet without her noticing.

Following her heart. 

Marty could see Oriana scoffing at that, but in reality, isn't that what that woman had been doing the whole time?

Marty didn't know her well as much as he wished, but he knew at the core of her was, for the lack of a better word, passionate. He remembered in his early days at Carolina, defending her as a fellow intern when the execs just saw Oriana as just another pretty face. He thought she was crazy for taking a stand against 'the industry' so early on in her career, but being disrespected for something she can't control didn't sit right with him.

When later in their careers, Marty introduced her to… who would be her partner, he acted like the best wing man he could ever be, as much as he disagreed with shitting where you ate. But that never stopped Oriana, did she?

Even after the divorce, when it felt like she had closed herself off to the world, Oriana followed her spark.

Leaving Carolina be a stupid decision to make, but you only live once, right?

"You might be right." Marty concedes, and takes a big bite of pizza. 

"Move," Anna says with another slice in hand, and positions herself to curl up against Marty's body again. Another commercial passes and Marty finds himself falling asleep, digesting carbs and listening to the sound of Anna's rambles more than anything.

Anna rapidly pats Marty's leg. "Wake up! The winners are going to be announced!"

He groans, blinking himself awake. There's a loose pepperoni on his shirt that he flicks away before focusing on the television. On stage, all the bands huddle together. Chaos Anthem arrives last, holding each other, and Marty offhandedly notices that one of them is pregnant. Marty bites his lip and looks at Anna. He can name more than one person in his circle that's pregnant. Is it strange he's thinking about their future more and more now?

Donny Diamond, the host of Battle of the Bands, holds a black envelope.

"We were met with many bands and such extraordinary talent and the race was very close." The crowd erupts into mutterings and several people call out their favorites. "Of course, we would love to bring everyone with us but there can only be one winner."

Misfit Alley, Gina and Victoria Valentine included, stand at the edge of the TV screen. Anna squeals in excitement and Marty can't help but feel the same energy. 

The TV becomes quiet. Donny fumbles with the envelope and Marty could almost laugh, expecting him to drop it.

"Chaos Anthem."

The TV erupts into cheers. Chaos Anthem ushers in Oriana from off-stage, the first time Marty's seen her since she left Carolina Records and never looked back. She looks a little older, hair a little longer than she's always worn it, tall as ever. She is smiling a small smile, and Marty feels a surge of pride.

Anna cheers as well, shaking Marty's knee. "Wow, they must be feeling proud, huh?"

Despite it all, Marty bites back the thought that they might've been chosen for the drama. He looks at their smiling faces as the lead singer accepts a bouquet from Victoria.

"Say something for the folks watching at home!" Donny yells.

The lead singer grins into the microphone. "We couldn't do this without our band manager, Oriana Quinn!" The lead singer glances back at Oriana, and Marty notices the gears turning in Anna's mind, the way her head is tilted at the screen.

The camera pans to Oriana, arms crossed with a neutral look on her face.

"Say something, Ms. Quinn!"

"No."

Marty lets out a full laugh. That's the Oriana he knows.

"That's all we have for tonight, folks. Make sure to tune in at Music Now for all of your BoTB updates. We'll catch you on tour!"

Closing music floods Marty's speakers as Anna turns to him. 

"You didn't tell me your ex-co-worker was hot!" She gasps.

"Yeah, and she's a real asshole about it." Marty laughs. "Not as hot as you, though." He wiggles his still-greasy fingers at her.

Anna rolls her eyes and turns off the TV. She begins cleaning up the pizza box and strewn napkins around. She even picks up the discarded pepperoni with a tissue. She pauses.

"…So that lead singer and Oriana, do you think…?"

"Fifty bucks it doesn't become a storyline on BoTB." As funny as it would be, Marty's worried for his old friend. The industry can be vicious. Breakups can be vicious. He's hoping there's nothing there. And if there is, well, he hopes Oriana is as strong as he think she is.

"Deal." Anna grins, and kisses the top of Marty's head. "Finally, I found a show I could watch with you!"

He's autistic, his special interests are prewar history and electronic/robotic engineering!! He was originally going to be the next doctor for Vault 101 according to the GOAT test but convinced Mr. Broch to let him become a Pip-Boy repairman instead

He doesn't have a favorite food but does have a sweet tooth and a caffeine fixation, he drinks a lot of sweet coffee or Nuka-Cola (his favorite flavor is Nuka-Cherry)

His highest SPECIAL stat would probably be Intelligence

He has near perfect vision and found he has skills as a sharpshooter after he left the Vault

He's trans, he named himself after his dad because he looked up to him so much

Also because of his dad, he has a decent amount of medical knowledge/training (hence why he would've been a doctor too)

His favorite color is "some kind of light purple". He never specifies because it's either lilac or lavender and he can't pick one over the other

[ Anonymous: That is... really weird that you said that, because that fic series I mentioned *does* have two heroes, as learned by the mc via Vessa, who came after them, but it was still widely known at that point that there had been two. You've said you don't read much pla fic, so I'm pretty sure you've never read the series, which makes that a strange coincidence!

Spoilers for it, since you've said you don't mind those but for anyone who does, but Vessa says that likely the reason for there only being one hero in recent tellings, some 1000 years after the fact, was because the second hero became something of a "villain" afterward. Only she did it to send the other one, who was a faller, home. Arceus had kind of broken the world (on accident, it's implied), and when confronted by the two heroes and the ten soon-to-be nobles, it fixed things and left. But the faller hero had no way back to their own time and place, so the other hero purposefully broke things again. Not as bad as before, but it was still bad. That rift that they opened seems to have caused a bunch of other, much smaller rifts to open and close all over the place, similar to the distortion bubbles but not nearly as dramatic, which people seeking power took advantage of, once they learned they could, seeing as the second hero had done it. Which basically tore things apart and caused everyone to have to flee. Which is why the only things left of it are ruins and the two temples, and the only people are two small settlements with no apparent agriculture. Everyone else died or fled, and people only started coming back to their homeland not like recently-recently, but historically recently. The author goes kind of based on stuff from those Old Verse poems, and the small bits that Vessa gives you, as well as some other things I think, to help with their world building. ]

uh huh yeah the old verses. those things i definitely both know and care about and treat as canon and which are definitely not the most egregious example of me throwing pieces of pla canon into the trash. yep.

i'm ngl this is the main reason i don't like ppl going "oh hey that fic pitch/piece of analysis you just posted was already done somewhere else" cause it's like. well now i can't use this myself without feeling like i'm stealing, or like ppl are gonna assume i'm doing that. especially annoying when it's a bit of analysis/canon extrapolation that i don't even think is hard to come up with in isolation, cause it's not even that other person's Proprietary Idea, that's like original to them, they just happen to be the first/most well known/the one known by the specific person talking to me. like i'm sure this other fic is great and all but like i said in that post, i feel like "two heroes" is just something that's arguably implied, albeit maybe unintentionally, by the existence of more nobles than can fit in a pokemon team, specifically ten, and the ongoing diamond/pearl parallelism.

That's a very interesting observation! I had certainly never thought about it wrt Tyril, but you definitely have a point. As for Aerin (in my playthrough), I've headcanoned my MC as approaching it more realistically.

Because see, back in Riverbend, (this is canon), MC had a fling with the mayor's kid which had to be cut short basically because someone as lowborn as MC (and my MC has the added social obstacle of not being human) was seen as being so far beneath the mayor's kid's station that their being together was too scandalous to be allowed. Having had that experience, I think that, once my MC realized she liked Aerin, she viewed that as a potential fling—just some no-strings-attached fun with someone she connected with that's only ever going to have a short shelf life. They could make plans to meet again in Whitetower and even spend some more time together, but my MC never actually thought they might actually court properly, much less end up together, even if he had the freedom to be with whoever he wanted, which she figures he doesn't, and being a royal mistress doesn't appeal to her either. It's only after they reunite in b2 that it hits them that wait, this might actually be a possibility now. (Lmao, with my MC being named Elphaba, all I can think about is that lyric from As Long As You're Mine that's: "Say there's no future for us as a pair, and though I may know, I don't care" because that's literally their entire relationship. Mal could try to warn MC not to get her hopes up because it's not made to last and she'd just be like "yeah, no shit".)

That's my headcanon for my own MC, yes, but tbh, I don't even imagine that the canon MC saw that they weren't considered good enough to date the child of the mayor of the most irrelevant town in the kingdom but were somehow convinced a whole-ass prince might be a possibility for them, because that belief after their experience would be honestly delusional.

With Tyril, it could be more complicated—because it had never occurred to me that it could be taken that way—but at least it's relatively early into the relationship when Tyril makes it clear that he's willing to oppose elven culture to do what he feels is right, and there's no room left for doubt once he renounces his lordship. But then again, MC flirting with Tyril at first mostly reads to me as them trying to... toy with him, I guess? Like, he's so serious and MC, like Mal, is amused by pushing his buttons. Come on, why else does MC offer this stuffy dude they just met to share a tiny bed? It's not because they're falling in love with him, the flirting is mainly a way to tease, until it's not.

But I think that, compared to Aerin, my MC would maybe not have started out with the mindset that she had to keep things casual, maybe because Tyril was not currently in the environment that would have disapproved of them being together at the time (indefinite exile and all), and maybe she felt to some extent that being an elf herself would bridge some of the gap in Undermount (elf!MC has some dialogue in the book along the lines of imagining themself with peers in Undermount, not realizing how exclusionary it was, even to an elf). I think maybe a human, and definitely an orc, would have been more wary about getting too emotionally invested, based on that same experience they had back in Undermount. Though in any case, they soon learn that Undermount elves do relationships differently, so there's a difference between MC thinking they can marry Aerin and be his prince(ss) and thinking they can just be one of Tyril's multiple partners. Still, now I wanna think more about this 🤔

Do you think Mal is worried about MC if they're romancing Tyril or Aerin?

Especially in Book 1, I can see him worried it'll look too much like his parents. One noble doing less than the the bare minimum, making pretty excuses and one commoner who loves them enough to ignore it.

From Mal's perspective, Tyril's an uptight elf fresh out if the most pretentious place on the continent. Even if MC is an elf, they'll never be the 'right' kind of elf in Undermount. And what a scandal if they're a human or orc. So MC will eventually be an afterthought and/or a dirty little secret, right?

And Aerin seems like a sweet pushover, but he's one of the last three Valleroses. If he really cares about Morella, he'll shut up and marry whoever they tell him to. So MC, commoner orphan they are, can hope for clandestine mistress at best, right?

Sure, they both seem decent enough. But that pressure to conform to your parents, to do what society wants of you is strong. And can Mal watch his friends get hurt like his mom? Is it his place to stop them? Would they even listen?
