BnHA Chapter 291: The Endeavor Pamphlet

Previously on BnHA: Dabi showed up atop Gigantomachia’s back and was all “you’ll never guess who I really am!” and the readers humored him and were all “who?” and he was all “TODOROKI TOUYA” and we were all “WOW └(・。・)┘ OH MY GOSH I WOULD NEVER HAVE GUESSED”, except for Shouto and Enji who were GENUINELY SHOCKED. Anyway so Touya was all “and guess what I’m doing right now!” and before anyone could even try, he was all, “STREAMING MY EMMY-NOMINATED MINISERIES ‘HELLO, I’M EVIL BUT ALSO TRAGIC AND SEXY, NOW LET ME TELL YOU ALL ABOUT MY DAD WHO SUCKS’’, THAT’S WHAT.” And everyone was all “oh my god” and Touya was all “ヽ(⌐■_■)ノ♪” for basically the rest of the chapter, and that’s pretty much it! Oh, wait, except for the part where he also doused himself in bleach in a fit of pure theatrics, which is actually pretty much the main takeaway from the entire chapter really because it was just wild af. ANYWAYS.

Today on BnHA: Horikoshi introduces Baby Touya, the world’s most enchantingly sweet character, and is immediately all, “I sure can’t wait to tell you guys all about how his fucking jaw burnt off.” Thankfully he doesn’t (YET), and we cut back to the present pretty quickly, where Dabi explains how he took all of his brain cells that should have been used to stop him from pouring bleach over his head, and instead put them all toward his big brain plot of releasing an elaborate video detailing Endeavor’s various abuses and crimes, and even throwing Hawks under the bus as well because WHY NOT. He then leaps off of Gigantomachia’s back (like I said, no brain cells) all set to blast them with a Prominence Burn, only to be stopped by none other than THE LEGEND HIMSELF, MOTHERFUCKING BEST, PRETTIEST, NICEST, MOST OUTSTANDING MOTHERFUCKING JEANIST. Who’s no doubt outraged by the crime against hair he witnessed only moments earlier. GO GETTIM JEANY BOI.

so I haven’t had time to answer any of them because this has been the stupidest week, but I just wanted to tell you guys that I received no fewer than nine asks about Dabi’s hair. which, in a week filled with election memes and tumblr’s most cursed fandom briefly rising back up from the dead, is a pretty impressive feat for him if you ask me. like, I know I was making fun of it basically nonstop, but it sure did generate a lot of discussion so maybe I should rethink my opinions on Dabi’s PR strategies now, idk

OR, (2) the anime got it wrong and gave him red hair, and rather than allowing this plot hole to continue to exist, Horikoshi took it upon himself to concoct this elaborate storyline and pretend it was never a plot hole at all! in which case I sure hope someone at Bones is sending him a VERY nice Christmas card this year. got this man sweeping up all your messes for you. you’re just lucky he has some sort of wild compulsion to address these things

interesting! we suspected as much, I think, with the clues that Ending dropped, and the little flashback right after the name reveal. still not clear how Dabi found out about it though!

looooool okay here we go, breaking out the heavy-handed holier-than-thou shit now

you know, I do find it interesting how trying to model themselves after All Might’s noble Symbol of Peace image has kind of ended up being the heroes’ undoing here. like, I could write a whole essay on this, but what it basically boils down to is that they were all trying too hard to be perfect. All Might went out there and did his thing and was amazing, and so the powers-that-be built an entire system centered around this seemingly-infallible person, and they acted like the system was infallible as well. and so most of the population ended up becoming complacent over the years, and meanwhile the people who were unfortunate enough to fall through the cracks understandably wound up disillusioned and perceiving the heroes as these false idols

anyway, but I think one positive takeaway from this is that the new up-and-coming generation of heroes represent a breakaway from that system. like, imo what we’re witnessing is the downfall of the Perfect Hero, and the rise of the imperfect hero. and this new generation doesn’t shy away from their failures or pretend like they never happened. they pretty much can’t pretend, because their failures are all right out there in the open for everyone to see. Bakugou Katsuki, just to name one example off the top of my very biased head, has had his own personal character journey basically play out right in front of the media’s eyes. his humiliation at the sports festival, his kidnapping by the League, and all of the fallout afterward. this isn’t someone who can ever go out there and convince the world that he’s perfect. but what he can do, instead, is show the world that he’s trying. that he’s trying with everything he has to do his best, to be the best. rather than this untouchable godlike image, it’s instead the image of someone painfully human who is nonetheless striving with everything he’s got to keep moving forward, flaws and all, and work his way to the top

and ultimately I think that’s going to be a much more positive image to send out to the world when all’s said and done. because rather than merely inspiring awe, heroes like that inspire people to take action themselves. or at least that’s what I hope! and not just Bakugou, but the others as well. we’ve got Shouto, whose own personal trauma is being aired in front of the whole nation even as I sit here ranting. we’ve got Deku, who cries at the drop of a hat, and who fought to become a hero despite being quirkless (and I think it’s only a matter of time before that eventually becomes public knowledge as well). tl;dr because I’m getting way too long-winded here, but these kids have effectively been humanized in a way that the old generation never was, and I think that’ll go a long way towards building trust between them and the people they’ll someday be protecting, and inspiring the next generation in hopefully a much healthier way

anyway so where were we. ...oh yes, Dabi was explaining that heroes only protect themselves, and is presumably building up to his grand conclusion of “therefore you should all just let the villains take over and burn down the world”

and jiang cheng.  being the tough love uncle . having raised the yunmeng jiang clan from the rubble all alone, his whole family dead, some of it on the blame of his own brother, his siblings, his closest friends gone.......and only jin ling there needing his guidance. 

THE PARALLEL BETWEEN JIN LING BEING A LIFELINE FOR JIANG CHENG AND A-YUAN FOR LAN WANGJI AFTER THE BATTLE AT THE NIGHTLESS CITY

and like . the fact! that lwj and jc dislike each other!!. jc projects blame onto him for wwx both “leaving” him and indirectly causing their families deaths and when hes so consumed by it he makes wwx an enemy, lwj is there now? trying to protect him?? and lwj, who can never understand the pain that wwx , indirectly or not put jc through, but who was right there when jc tried to kill him and will never allow him to hurt wwx again. and how they like. in a way project blame of their tragedies onto each other while dealing with some type of survivor guilt and in their own way still loving wwx through it all???  amd in way its kind of fundamentally selfish but also tragically understandable? and like when u put it against the fact that after he disappears during the sunshot campaign they were looking for him together and fought together??

JUST. THE CHARACTERS. AND THE RELATIONSHIPS IN THIS. MAN. UGH. GOD. 

and like i think thats what makes it so good? its such a sad and painful and violent story, edgy even, but its compelling bc at the center of it there are all of these relationships and different types of love and hope and. :( i love it

Hope for the future

“Come in,” You said sarcastically, slamming the door and following him into the living room, he must have been talking to you but you weren’t listening, you were too busy trying to focus on not throwing up all over the living room floor, you’d been feeling sick all week, your head was pounding and you were starting to get hot and cold sweats.

“Are you evening listening to me?” Jin questioned coming closer to you, you didn’t have the energy to step away from him, as soon as he was close enough he could feel the heat radiating off your body, his hand rushed to your forehead.

“You’re burning up, get into bed.” He said taking your hand in his and walking you up the staircase towards your bedroom, you tried to push him away from you but you couldn’t do it, your body was too weak from fighting whatever bug you had.

“You don’t get to care for me anymore,” You pouted as he laid you down in your bed, covering you with a sheet and going to get you a cold, wet cloth for the top of your head.

“Jin no.” You said trying to fight him on this but he sat down on the bed next to you, trying to make sure you were okay, you gave up trying to push him away from you, you felt at ease with him around even if he did do what he did.

“Why did you do it?” You whispered, your eyes closed as you laid on the pillow behind your head, he sighed running his fingers through your hair,

“Because I was an idiot…but as soon as I realised how dumb I was and how much I loved you, I called the whole thing off…We promised never to speak of it again and I know I should have told you about it.” He said feeling defeated, you nodded, moving in the bed so you could lay your head on his thighs instead, he didn’t know if this was your way of accepting him back but he knew he wasn’t going to stop saying sorry or trying to win you back.

Yoongi:

The moment the words came out of his mouth you left him, Yoongi told you about his stupid bet with the boys. It was beyond stupid, and it fucked you up. You’d been dating Yoongi for three years when he finally came clean about it,

“It was a stupid bed and I never should have accepted it!” He yelled at you as you packed up your suitcase, you were shaking your head, so scared to speak in case you broke down in tears in front of him.

“Babe It was immature and idiotic, and the second I realised I was in love with you I called the whole thing off.” He said, trying to justify the fact that the only reason you started dating three years ago was that his friends bet that he wouldn’t be able to make you fall in love with him, you were nothing but a joke to him.

“That would have been fine if you told me about it when you called it off! Three fucking years Yoongi!” You yelled, finally cracking under pressure, you zipped up the suitcase and walked through the dorms, the rest of the boys all hidden away in their rooms, not wanting to come out and see what was going off between you both. You never fought before, this was the first major fight you’d had, sure you had petty little fights but nothing that would cause something like this,

“Leave me alone Yoongi, I never want to see you again…How about you place bets on that?!” You yelled, loud enough so the rest of them would know what you were talking about, you slammed the front door on your way out and went over to the Uber that was waiting for you, as soon as the door closed you broke down.

You were staying in a hotel until you found an apartment to move into, you didn’t want to go back home and have to face all the questions from your roommates, you felt stupid enough without everyone knowing what happened between you and Yoongi. You were about to go out to get some more instant Ramen for your hotel room when you saw Jimin in the car park, he looked lost.

“Jimin?” You questioned, as soon as he spotted you he raced over, locking his hand around your wrist and dragging you over to the car, where he locked you inside.

“This is kidnapping.” You said as you tried to open the door, he shook his head, sitting next to you in the back of the car, he went to talk when the door opened and Yoongi appeared, he wasn’t looking in the car, he was staring down at his phone.

“The receptionist won’t tell me her room number and she’s not picking up.” He looked up to see you, your eyes scanned his face, his eyes were bloodshot, he had bags under them and his hair was a mess, he looked like he hadn’t slept in days, you probably looked the same way, Jimin stepped out of the car, you would have made a break for it too if it wasn’t for the way Yoongi was looking at you, all you wanted to do was scoop him into your arms and promise him everything would be okay but then everything came crashing back to you, the door locked and you were trapped inside the car with him.

“I’ve been looking everywhere for you.” He whispered trying to hold your hand but you moved away from him, as far as you could anyway inside of the car, you looked away from him and out of the window,

“Why can’t you look at me for one damn second while I try and explain myself?” The way his voice broke midsentence felt like a dagger through your heart, you turned your head in his direction but stared at the floor.

“I’m afraid id I do, I’ll fall in love with you all over again.” You answered, his hand was on your chin, pulling your head up to look at him.

“Then fall in love with me all over again, I never meant to hurt you.” He promised you let tears roll down your face as you finally met his gaze, he leant forward and pressed a kiss on your cheek.

“I-I love you.” You whispered to him as he pulled away from you,

“I love you too.”

Hoseok:

“It was a stupid bet and I’m calling it off,” Hoseok said to Namjoon in the dorm kitchen, the two of them were talking in hushed tones since you were only in the living room playing video games with Jungkook,

“You should be thanking us, without the bet you wouldn’t have met her,” Namjoon said as he poured boiling water into eight cups, you were stood in the doorway now, coming to get a glass of water when you heard them speaking,

“Namjoon, she’s a human, I’m not going to keep doing this it was a stupid bed and I want no part in it.”

“A fucking bet?” You questioned, your voice coming out hoarse as you spoke, you were stood in the doorway of the kitchen, he didn’t know you were there when he was talking to Namjoon about it, you felt your heart shatter as soon as you heard him say it, Jungkook came up behind you, tickling your sides and you pushed him away gently, Hoseok tried to follow after you but you walked out of the dorms and into the garden, not wanting to look at him right now, you needed to just think over everything he’d been saying to Namjoon.

“Can you just listen to me for one second?” Hobi yelled as you reached the gate of the garden,

“What can you say that would possibly make this better?!”

He stood outside your apartment door waiting for you to come outside since you weren’t answering his calls, he was waiting with Namjoon so they could say sorry, you didn’t even notice they were out there until he started raining and you got a text from Namjoon asking for a blanket or an umbrella,

“What the fuck are you doing?! It’s raining?!” You yelled ushering them inside and going to find them some dry clothes, luckily Hobi had spares all over your apartment so they could change into them while you dried their clothes and got them warm, all thoughts of the bet were out of your mind now, all you cared about was making sure they didn’t get sick.

“It was my idea,” Namjoon said as you put their clothes into the drier, you looked up and he was staring at you, wrapped in a blanket and glancing over at Hobi who was sitting in front of the fireplace, looking at the photos of you and him together along with it.

“I bet that he wouldn’t go up and ask you out.” You looked at the floor, you felt insecure about being a joke to them both.

“I feel like a joke.” You admitted sitting on the barstool, Namjoon joined you and shook his head.

“You have to, believe me, it was never like that, he…he saw you and liked you instantly and I knew what he was like, I knew if we didn’t dare him or bet on him to ask you out he would have done it.” You looked over at Hobi who was now holding a photo frame of you and him together on your first date,

“Stay here.” You whispered to Namjoon, going into the living room and quietly walking up behind Hobi.

“Do you actually like me? Like it’s not some kind of joke?” You questioned making him jump a little, he put down the photo and turned to face you.

“I’ve always liked you…It was just a confidence boost to get me to ask you out…You know I would never do anything to hurt you.” He whispered, taking your hand in his and looking into your eyes.

“I know.” You whispered back, giving him a small kiss on the lips and promising to make them some hot chocolates.

Namjoon:

The second he told you it felt like your world fell apart around you,

“What?” You whispered looking at him, he was crying now, tears rolling down his cheeks as he told you everything, you were sitting in your apartment, you were having an indoor picnic date together when he finally came clean about it, everything was rushing through your head. You kept leaping to different thoughts, everything you ever had was all fake to him, every I love you, every date, every time you flew out to see him on tour, it was all a big joke and game to him, and for what? Money?

“I wanted to tell you so many times, I’m so sorry…I was afraid, you wouldn’t forgive me if you knew.” You scoffed getting off the floor and walking towards the front door, his hand on your wrist, you span around snatching your arm out of his grasp.

“I don’t wanna hear this, I don’t want to hear it, I just want you out.” You said pointing at the front door but he continued trying to talk to you.

“Please just listen to me…”

“Nothing you say will change anything!” You said, tears streaming down your cheeks as you finally broke down in front of him.

“I don’t even know who are you anymore.” You cried out, falling down on the floor and sobbing against your knees, he knelt in front of you and pulled you into his arms.

“Yes you do, you know me. I’m everything you already know, it’s just how we got together that’s different, nothing else has changed.” He promised, rocking you back and forth in his arms as he tried to calm you down.

“Everything you ever did was a lie..” You were still sat on the floor a few hours later, you wanted him to leave you alone but a small part of you wanted him to keep you here in his arms all night despite what he’d done to you.

“I lied to you about a lot of things but I promise I didn’t know I was going to fall in love with you…I’ve never lied to you about how I feel…” He was cradling you in his arms as he explained everything to you, wanting you to know the full story before you decided what to do with him.

“As soon as I realised we were serious, I called it off. I told them I didn’t want to be apart of it anymore, it was a dumb bet to see if I could get you to fall for me…But I fell first, remember?” He said with a sad smile, you shook your head.

“I told you I loved you first, it was our 4 month anniversary and I told you I loved you, I knew I was falling for you the moment we went out on our first date and you won me a teddy bear instead of the other way around.” You took a shaky breath in and looked up at him, he was staring off into space while he spoke about everything you ever did to make him love you.

“I called it off as soon as I knew I loved you, as soon as everything was serious and I knew I never wanted to lose you.” He broke down this time, tears rolling off his face and down onto yours, you groaned wiping them off and back onto his sleeve.

“Stop crying on me, it’s gross.” You whispered standing up and going towards the front door, he watched you and then you looked back at him, making grabby hands.

“Come to bed, I’m tired and I just want you to hold me all night…please.” You whispered, he nodded and followed you up the stairs, hand in hand.

Jimin:

The article was all over the place, you couldn’t go anywhere without seeing it, Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, the internet was full of it. Someone had overheard Jimin telling his friends about a bet he had, a bet with you…or rather on you, it was some stupid thing that got out of hand and now was all over the internet, it hurt more that he didn’t tell you beforehand about it, that you had no idea that this was going on and that you were apart of some big running joke with him and all of his friends. You were currently at the dorms front door, debating about going inside to get your stuff when it opened to reveal Hoseok standing there, his expression changing from a happy one to a guilty one, he moved aside so you could walk inside, you slowly entered the dorms, it was abnormally quiet and you headed for Jimin’s room, knocking before going inside,

“Hobi leave me alone.” He called out, but you walked inside and stood at the door, shutting it behind you, his eyes shot up to see you and then he rushed to be by your side, but you moved away from him and going around the room to find your clothes you’d left there.

“Please just let me explain everything.” He said as you walked into his wardrobe, finding most of your clothes in there.

“There’s nothing to explain Jimin, It was a bet. You won, okay I fell for you first, so just leave it alone.” You whispered, taking a bag and throwing some clothes into it, but he stopped you and took your face in your hands making you look at him, you were crying and he just wanted to take you into his arms and never let you again.

“I just need to hear it from you…that it was all a lie and you don’t love me.” You said as you finally finished packing up your stuff, he shook his head, standing in front of the door so you couldn’t leave.

“None of it was a lie…I do love you, I love you more than words can even explain.” He admitted you looked at him, wishing it was all a lie, it would make everything so much easier if you could hate him.

“It would make everything easier if it was.” You whispered to him but he just dragged you into a tight hug, his arms wrapping around your shoulders so you couldn’t move away from him, you dropped the bag you were carrying and wrapped your arms around his waist, not wanting him to ever let you go.

“I’ll get everything straightened out, don’t read anything. The press don’t know anything, if you want to know…ask me.” You nodded against his chest and yawned.

“Can we just go to sleep Jimin, I’m tired.”

Taehyung:

As soon as you found out you were a bet you left the apartment, you didn’t know if he knew you knew but you didn’t care. You locked yourself away inside and didn’t want to come back out again, Taehyung didn’t even notice until a week later, he’d gotten a call from your doctor and then your mum and he began to panic. He couldn’t remember the last time he saw you and it wasn’t because he was a bad boyfriend, or he didn’t love you, he was busy with work. He was always busy and he knew you understood that but when your mum called him he knew something was wrong and he had to find you. He took his spare key to your apartment and headed there to try and find you, your mum mentioned you hadn’t been answering her calls, only texts, and the doctors called Taehyung because he was your emergency contact in case you forgot appointments or something.

“Baby?!” He called out as he entered the apartment, shutting the front door and checking the kitchen first, there was no sign of you, he headed up the stairs and opened your bedroom door, you were on the floor sorting through drawers, earphones in and tears rolling down your cheeks, he came up behind you and took the earphone out, you screamed, holding your hand over your chest since he scared you so much.

“The pharmacy called…said you hadn’t picked up your meds all week…What are you doing?” He asked looking at the suitcase you were packing up, that’s when he noticed it was all of the clothes he left at your apartment and small gifts he’d gotten you when he was away on tour.

“Well, I figured you’d want all of this back you know,” You said getting up and moving away from his grasp, he stayed on the floor looking at the items, you’d kept everything, the train ticket from your first date, the movie ticket stamp and some other trinkets from every date you’d been on together.

“Why would I want it back?” He question, standing up, you put your hand up to signal him not to come closer to you.

“I heard you…talking about the bet, hope that whatever money you won was worth it.” He raised his eyebrow and then the realisation hit him.

“Baby no, no.” You shook your head not wanting to hear his excuses for anything he’d done but he took hold of your hands, even though you were struggling to wiggle from his grasp.

“Listen to me.” He pleaded, you stopped fighting and he continued.

“It wasn’t anything bad…I’m assuming you just heard the ‘Y/N was a bet’ part?” You nodded, tears springing to your eyes at the thought of you were nothing to him but he sighed, leaving kisses on the side of your head.

“Babe, Jungkook bet that I wouldn’t talk to you, ask you out…If it wasn’t for him doing that, I never would have had the guts to even walk up to you…It was dumb and I should have told you but baby…It’s been seven months of us together, I would never hurt you like that…Ever.” You stared at him and he sighed, he didn’t know if you believed him or not but it was the truth.

“Now..I’m going to make food, and then we’re going to watch movies…Unpack that bag because I’m not going anywhere.” He whispered, kissing your ear and leaving the bedroom.

Jungkook:

Jungkook called you around to the dorms and said he had to talk to you, it sounded serious so you went there right away from work, you walked in to see him waiting for you on the sofa, the rest of the dorms empty, you smiled walking over to him and sitting on his lap.

“Hi, baby.” You giggled, kissing him on the lips his hands landed on your waist and he chuckled, switching you around so you were pinned down against the fabric sofa, his hands travelling up and down your spine.

“Fuck Kookie,” You moaned out as he began to suck on your neck, sure to leave some purple marks for everyone to tease you with later. You could feel him smirking against your skin as you moaned out his nickname, clothes were thrown around the living room, you were making out naked on the sofa, he was leaving kisses up and down your neck, he lined himself up at your entrance and locked eyes with you, you smiled up and him and nodded, he knew you’d been waiting to have sex with him but you knew it was the right moment, he thrust inside and you moaned out his name, dragging your nails down his back.

“A bet?” You stuttered, tears falling down your cheeks, you wiped your face, standing up and trying to find your keys so you could leave as quickly as possible.

“No, please don’t leave me, let me explain.” You stared at him, his eyes were glazed over, you nodded sitting down next to him again and he took your hand in his.

“It was just to ask you out, it’s not like we had money on anything else…When you said you loved me…I knew I just had to tell you, I couldn’t-” He stopped himself, tucking hair behind your ear and swallowing the lump in his throat,

“I couldn’t continue without you knowing the truth and that I love you too…I would never do anything to hurt you and you have to know that.” He said waiting for you to say something, slap him, or leave but you were just nodding in silence.

“So you weren’t betting on how long it would take to sleep with me?” You questioned, that was what you were most nervous about but he shook his head.

“Okay…Good.” You said, dragging him into another kiss, he pulled away this time.

“You forgive me?” You nodded, kissing his neck this time and sucking along his collar bone.

He is the one who puts his hands on Iwai frequently like placing them on his shoulders to get them somewhere, caress his hair, let fingertips tap Iwai’s cheeks now and then. The worst part is that his touching can be subtle and so soft because he’s not aware of the effect he can have on poor Iwai so— that’s their life in the future!

He knows Pink is a capable woman and respects her too much to ever think she is dumb, but he also knows that sometimes she forgets important things like having an extra jacket, so he looks out for her in that sense, also providing the food/water, things human bodies need to function. Ok, so I absolutely freaking love our irl Joon, but this Joonie….lawd he’s completely fucking things up with our MC. She wanted to stay with him after he (SPOILER ALERT) cheated on her, so she suggests trying an open relationship. He then proceeds to fuck everyone who is offering. That’s not how any of this works Joonie!

I freaking LOVE that you never make the female characters doormats. They may put up with a lot, out of love of course, but they have substance and bite to them. You poke them, they poke back!!!

And then Joon proceeds to go all “jealous, possessive lover” on our MC, which is both hot and confusing, tbh. Joonie, did you not realize this may be a possibility? It’s really narcissistic for Joon to think the rules didn’t apply to our MC as well!

And then all that bullshit at the museum?!?!?! AAAHH! Hwasa is hella sexy, but nooooo Joon, NO! You couldn’t spend one day with our MC without fucking around???

I have a love/hate relationship with this one because I was trying to step out of my comfort zone and write something that was supposed to just hurt lmao. I also get the most annoying update demands from this one but 🤷‍♀️

But yeah, I was basically using this story to explore the mind of the cheater rather than the cheatee. WeI’ve kinda seen that Joon has some self esteem issues and now he suddenly has all these people trying to get with him and it gives him a sort of a temporary feel good high and makes him feel great while it’s happening only for him to crash after when he realizes what he’s done. Maybe a bit of a borderline personality disorder.

BTS American Hustle Life Ep4

Ep 3 recap: BTS are in LA to learn about hip hop. During that episode they met their dance teacher, Jenny Kita. She set them a few challenges including a solo demonstration, a dance battle against professional dancers, and the task of choreographing a dance routine in small groups. J-Hope’s dance skills shone the brightest throughout which was both a surprise and a delight! Jin, despite being the least proficient dancer in the band, tried really hard and it paid off in the final challenge – he and J-Hope were deserving winners.

We also started to see the friendships between the band members more, which was quite lovely. I really hope this continues in the series.

 On to Episode 4!

Holy cow, that dorm is an absolute pigsty. Ewwww! The amount of water bottles alone makes me want to cry.

Lol, I wonder how RM and Jimin ended up having to clean the dorm up?

They did a good job with it though and somehow managed to find some fun in between. The bathroom scene was hilarious!

Like last episode Jimin appears to have dropped some of his mask. Maybe I’m just seeing things but in this ep he just seems a little softer around the edges - more playful rather than loud and over-the-top. I think RM is good company for him. I’m not sure how to word it without accidentally making it look like I think the other lads treat him poorly (which I don’t believe they do!!) but I think RM is quite respectful to Jimin? As the leader RM’s attention will be pulled in many directions and when he can give spare undivided attention he probably spends it more on his elder bandmates as they are closer to his own age. However, I get the sense that when he does focus on Jimin he does it with the kind of patience and gentleness that the others are maybe not quite so liberal with? That’s not to say he won’t tease Jimin or joke around with him (he does) but so far it comes across as a little warmer than the others perhaps because he’s naturally gentler in nature? I’m probably talking out my **** here but that’s just what I’ve sensed.

One final thing: Jimin’s English is really improving!

So while Jimin and RM are cleaning the dorm, Suga, V, and Jungkook are on laundry duty. LMAO how is that fair? I was thinking that the “chores” were punishment for losing the challenge in Ep3 but Jimin and RM were so close to winning and yet seem to have been given the worst chore?

LOL, how can those three lads make laundry seem so complicated??

They really are big kids – I’m glad they can find ways to have fun though. But ewwwwwwwwww Jungkook, the 3/5/7/10 second rule is a myth, don’t eat things off the ground – particularly in a foreign country!!

To be honest I think it is more of a reflection on my own culture rather than theirs that this seemed so surprising to me. Generally sharing food without the ‘ew that’s got your spit on’ and other hang-ups – particularly between boys - ends around 8-10 years old here.

Jungkook sweetie, I really doubt you’ve put on much weight – are you sure you haven’t just grown another few inches? It certainly looks like you’ve grown. At this point you might end up towering over Suga and Jimin.

Ah so Jin and J-Hope are food shopping. So maybe these chores are not punishments for losing the challenge. I’d still like to know how Jimin and RM got the short straw to clean the dorm lol.

Oh good grief, BTS cooking – after their challenge in the first series I dread to think what poor concoction they’re going to come up with.

OK so J-Hope’s cheese sticks verdict… V = X, RM = XX, Jimin (so cute as he bounded over like an excited puppy) = too polite to use his new English word “disgusting”

It seemed to taste okay judging by Jimin’s reaction. RM does not agree lol. It was cute how Jin was feeding the rest of the toast to Jimin and Jungkook like a parent feeding infants.

After what I wrote earlier about RM it’s nice to see the other lads interacting with Jimin more. I wonder if some of the impatience that occasionally comes across is simply down to the editing?

So we move on to a new day and the whole group are heading to Long Beach by foot. Crikey, Jungkook looks like he’s grown another inch over night!! Why on earth is he wearing two layers in the LA heat???!!

It’s great to see that BTS are still ‘star struck’ by celebrities. I guess, back then, the band were not that well known – at least not like they are now. They certainly did not cross my radar – not like 1D did.

LMAO – V randomly saying he drooled when he saw Warren G. What?????!!!!

Warren G seems a great guy; very chill and calm with the band. *Again I’m going to say it but I love how BTS have the confidence to say another man looks handsome like they did when admiring the photo in the record store*

Yeah Warren G is a really decent guy.

There’s something fundamentally poetic in the way that Jimin said of Warren G, Snoop Dogg, Nate, (in a tone of amazement and disbelief) “They were just elementary kids but became legends”. I mean, BTS were once ‘elementary school’ kids and while, in that moment, Jimin did not know how big the band would get, the same sentiment applies to BTS.

So their new challenge is to write lyrics based on their own lives to Regulate.

Oh good grief Jin, if the American dorm is slowly becoming like your Korean dorm then I shudder to think what state your Korean dorm is in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oooh so the band are opening up a little about their lives in order to make lyrics for their rap.

After a bit of travelling by bus and making friends with the locals, Jin and J-Hope settle down in a park to talk. We learn Jin started off acting and not singing? Now that’s interesting! Not all of BTS had joining a band or even BTS’ music style in mind from the beginning. Jin also has a brother and he was into hip hop so Jin had some knowledge of it before joining the band.

J-Hope’s turn and he admitted when he first joined the band everyone was a rapper and he was the only dancer which made him feel remote.

This, again, is really interesting to learn as this was the scenario I was pinning on Jimin – unless there were different BTS members back when J-Hope joined? I really don’t know how the band was formed so I hope at some point they talk about this. I liked how Jin admitted he was surprised to hear about J-Hope feelings. They should talk like that more often.

RM and Jimin travel to another part of town – near the school/college that some of the most famous rappers in the music industry attended. I really like the motto of the building “Enter to learn go forth to serve”. I’m not American so I don’t know it’s true connotations but to me it’s simple and strangely compelling. Like; ‘We don’t care who you are either come in and learn and repay by using it to serve the community - or travel forth on down the street and sign up for the army and serve that way. There’s a purpose for everyone.”

Jimin’s answer to what he found difficult when he joined the band is fascinating. While the translation felt a little off, it reads as he cares a lot about what others think of him and doesn’t want to let anyone down or let any of his (self-perceived) shortcomings hold others back. In order to achieve this he spent a lot of time trying to catch up or improve so that no one could easily spot his weaknesses. Ultimately, he wants to care less what others think of him so he can lose some of the pressure? I really think there is a lot more to this “want to care less about what others think” than the vague answer he gave (or was edited in). His starting phrase “I should live quietly for the sake of my team” was quite a loaded sentiment and didn’t quite follow what he said next – definitely some careful editing there.

RM’s sentiment echoes this. He talked about seeing a very over-weight man walking around LA topless and admired the man’s confidence to not care what other people thought. RM wants some of that confidence to stop constantly watching out for what others thought about him. This is the type of pressure many celebrities talk about a lot. In my opinion, any one remotely “famous” are seen as role models (rightly or wrongly) and society holds them to ridiculous standards. Make one mistake and that’s you cancelled like you are some item in a shop that can be returned for a refund. I personally think people have a very skewed idea about what makes a ‘role model’. For me, a role model shouldn’t be perfect but when they do make mistakes they should own up to it, apologise, and attempt to fix or make up for any hurt caused. We, as their fans, need to relearn how to accept an apology, forgive human errors, allow people to learn, and move on. Min rant over.

Moving on: Suga, V, and Jungkook are down near the beach front discussing their lyrics. The way V instantly thought of his Dad tells me he’s quite family orientated. It was touching the way he said he made him the person he was today.

Jungkook’s thoughts where based more on his internal thoughts of himself as a person and a musician. It was very honest of him to admit that back home he’d been pretty confident of his talent but once he joined (BigHit?) he quickly realised there was a lot of people with as much, if not more, talent than him and it knocked his confidence. I wish Suga had spoke more about his own thoughts rather than just write the lyrics.

 Challenge Day:

To be fair, all three groups rose to the challenge and not only had some great lyrics but sounded polished and rehearsed. We only got snippets of the songs but from what we did hear I would struggle to pick a winner. I guess, for me, it would feel like picking one’s persons’ struggles over another’s. Hard to judge.

Awww, Suga, V, and Jungkook won. They definitely tried harder with this challenge than the one in ep 3 so I felt it was deserved.

Final musings:

Another interesting episode. I think the band learned a lot more about hip hop this episode and Warren G was a real gent. We also learned more about each band member in terms of their thoughts and experiences when joining the band. We (I) also learned more about their personalities which hadn’t been so clear in previous eps and series. I think the editing can misconstrue some moments so I’m probably going to re-evaluate my musings on each band member from time to time – this is a good thing though!

hoseok - sorry but 300mdh!seok is winning no cap,,, tho OKAY i havent revealed yet why, but he’s actually a pretty harmless guy,,, (ignoring the fact that hes a double spy and HAS killed people in the past... uhhh) but yea he’d just pretend to be a really nice guy and get along well with the other two hoseoks,,, tddup!seok is an idiot and probs wouldnt even notice anything off about him, but lib!seok might have a gut feeling that somethings wrong,,, this is actually a really strange trio and idk how it would turn out exactly,,, definitely some sus things going on,,, lol

namjoon - well, tddup!joon is currently a turtle so you bet your ass that lib!joon is keeping him as a pet LMAOOOO my dude would unknowingly keep tddup!joon until he somehow magically returns to being a human. 300mdh!joon is a bit harder to pin down, since it all depends on whether he’s drunk or not LMAO bc if he was drunk, you’d bet your ass that he’d be a fucking dramatic/emotional mess and would wax poetic about turtle joon and lib!joon would have to comfort him. if he was sober, he’d just be a “regular” guy, or however regular a spy can be. overall, they’d hang out altogether just fine,,, like a couple of nerds,,,

jimin - well, you all know how tddup!jimin is like and that bitch is hornier than all my smau jimins combined. he’s so ferally horny that lib!jimin would probs shit himself, though i’d imagine 300mdh!jimin could maybe handle him a little better.... somewhat. they might even get along after a while, though i have a standing theory that all my smau!jimins hate each other no matter what, like that popular clique of girls you have in high school. they all pretend to be friend with each other, but they would not hesitate to stab a bitch if and when provoked. fun times!

taehyung - in contrast with jimin, i feel like all my taehyungs would have a good time together, no matter what au (okay, maybe except for looh!tae but thats a whole different story lmao). i think tddup!tae would get along super well with 300mdh!tae, mostly bc theyre both incredibly chaotic and have a kinda “go with the flow as long as we’re having fun” vibe. lib!tae is just maybe a little more “calm” than them, but he’s always down to clown. tddup!tae would probs bonk lib!tae on the head tho once he finds out about what he did to lib!oc, but other than that... i think they’d all be good buddies. 

jungkook - oh boy where do i even start... i feel like tddup!kook, despite how absolutely stupid he is, he’s still... somewhat morally sound?? i guess?? like he loves his wife a lot (#1 oc simp lets get it) so he’d probs be so angry and frustrated with what lib!kook did. might even hit him with a lightning bolt if we’re being honest. 300mdh!kook would agree and beat the shit out of lib!kook, and then he’d bond with zeus!kook over weeb shit and they’d become the best bros ever. but then zeus!kook will say some,,, weird kinky shit and break the mood so then 300mdh!kook + tddup!oc will have to tie him up so he never speaks again,,, they’d certainly be a very wild trio,,, maybe even worse than the seokjins and that’s saying something!!

A/N: I wrote this a few years back. It was actually a dream I had and I thought it’d be cool to write and share on wattpad and since I’m filling up my tumblr as well I thought I’d share it anyways lmao sorry if it’s cringe worth

A few years ago, if someone told me I'd be standing here watching a boy band practice, I would never believe it.

Sometimes it's still hard to believe how far they've come. When I moved to Seoul years ago looking for a fresh start, I didn't expect much. I planned on staying for a few months, a year tops! My plan was to get a job at some random company just like I had done before, but on my way to an interview at a small entertainment company looking for part-timers, I bumped into a group of boys singing.

They were in some small studio, door wide open, completely absorbed on some song they were working on. Once they were done, I couldn't help but cheer them on. I don't mean clapping... I mean full on jumping and screaming about how great they were. After a moment I realized I looked like an idiot, but the wide smiles on their faces shooed my regrets away. I remember how Taehyung and Jungkook jumped to their feet asking me over and over again if I really thought they were that amazing. I also remember that I never made it to the interview that day and instead they insisted on showing me more. Turns out now I'm part of their management team and I got to watch them grow over the years.

"Break time! I got you some snacks!" I called out walking into the room once they were finished with their song.

I laughed as they rushed over to me snatching the food out of my hands, I even heard Jin saying something about me being an angel for always bringing food with me. I smiled watching them settle down around the room, happily eating their snacks as Yoongi complained about practice, Taehyung and Jungkook started a small food battle with Jimin in the middle, and Hoseok and Jin let Yoongi complain in silence. I was putting my bag down when a bag of chips blocked my view. Jumping back against a hard chest, I looked back to see Namjoon smiling sweetly at me.

"Let's share." I turned to face him, smiling back at him. "You must be tired as well. I saw you run around the office the whole morning." He said and urged me to sit against the wall next to him.

"It's your fault I have so much work. Stop having such great ideas!" I punched his shoulder playfully, getting a deep chuckle in return.

We talked about our days for a bit longer until the room filled with music once again as the rest of the boys started a playful dance battle which Yoongi thought he'd win with his killing twerking skills. I couldn't help but laugh until my stomach hurt.

A hand stretched out in front of me as I cleaned a few tears from my eyes.

"Come on! I wanna see how good you are on the dancefloor!" Hoseok grabbed my hands and pulled me to my feet despite my protests.

"No, no, no, no... I can't dance!" They all stared at me in disbelief. "It's true, I can't dance! I can barely walk without tripping on air, what makes you think I can dance?" I put my hands on my hips and stumped my foot stubbornly. I watched them all look at Namjoon for a moment as if they all wanted to say the same thing.

So does Namjoon and he learned.

"Then we'll teach you!" Namjoon broke the silence, a little too amused for my liking, and before I could complain they all agreed to it already discussing what to teach me.

"Namjoon, I can't dance even if my life depends on it. You know that!" I pouted up at him but he ignored my complains and helped me take off my jacket.

"You can do whatever you put your mind to, come on! It'll be so much fun! Besides, I really want to see you dance." I tried to hide the blush on my face as he pushed me towards the rest of the group.

At first, they taught me some of their songs, Hoseok taking the lead and the maknae line giving me a hand in the background, but soon it turned into Hoseok trying to teach me girlgoup choreographies and then it turned into Jimin trying to make me do some kind of contemporary dance, which made them all curl up in laughter. I gave up after an hour of moving much more than I intended to when I came to check on them.

Thankfully, they agreed to go back to pratice while I laid on the floor trying to catch my breath. How those guys could pratice for hours without complaining or gasping out for hair after half an hour of jumping around was behond me. Pride filled my chest as I watched them work so hard and I made a mental note to treat them to dinner one of these days.

I was still on the floor messing with my phone when Namjoon laid next to me. Only then did I notice the music stopped and everyone was getting ready to leave. I barely missed Yoongi shout out a quick 'see you later' before running out the door. I turned my attention back to the boy lying next to me with a lazy smile on his face. His hair was messy and his shirt clung to his body due to the sweat from the intense work-out he just went through. He reached out and ran his fingers through my hair carefully as if he thought I would break if he wasn't careful.

"Still recovering? You barely moved." He was on his side, hand on his head, almost looking down on me and I couldn't help but smile at his cute dimples.

"I barely work out as it is. Dancing with you guys is like months worth of work out sessions to me." I mocked.

"You seem pretty fit... I thought you worked out every morning or something like that." He trailed of with a confused look on his face. His eyes flickered between my face and my body as if he was trying not to stare. I tried my best not to blush.

"I appreciate the compliment but I don't work out like you do, Oppa. I can barely walk up the stairs, let alone wake up every morning just to work out!" I laughed but he just stared at me with a big smile spread across his face. "What?"

"Say that again." He sat up.

"I can barely walk up the stairs?" I mimicked his movements with a confused frown. Getting up he grabbed my hand and pulled me to my feet as well, never letting go of my hand he walked us out the door until we stopped in front of a flight of stairs. He smirked down at my confused face, still not getting his point.

"Walk up the steps."

"What? No! Why?" I frowned.

"Don't be stubborn. Walk up the stairs." He gestured for me to hurry up and I crossed my arms staring at him defiantly. "Fine... Then I'll make you."

Before I could react, he stepped closer placing his hands on my waist. I froze trying not to blush too hard at how close he was, but then he moved his fingers. I let out a yelp as he tickled the sides of my body holding on to his shoulders instinctively so I wouldn't fall to my knees.

"Namjoon! S-Stop it!" I kept begging between laughs but he kept going until I had tears on the corners of my eyes. Even when he stopped I couldn't stop giggling while wiping my tears away.

"I knew you could walk up the stairs just fine." He stared right into my eyes with a smirk on his face.

That's when I noticed he had slowly made me walk up the stairs while he attacked me. How he managed to do that without making us fall was a mystery but he did it. I noticed as well how close we were to each other. His hands were still on my hips, he was one step down and his eyes were lined up perfectly with mine while we stared at each other. I felt myself blush for the third time today but this time I knew he noticed by the smirk on his face.

"Now that I proved my point..." He moved closer. "Say that again." He whispered and my heart skipped a beat.

"You called me Oppa." He chuckled, amusement written all over his face.

The drive to Jungkook’s house is a blur. You sped through the main road knowing that he would also be on his way home; it was a race that you had to win.

When you arrive, your fingers run over the smooth keypad; trying every combination that might possibly get you into his fancy high tech building.

“Baby.” You hear someone whisper from behind you, letting out heavy breaths as if he’d just ran a mile.

You don’t need to turn back to know that it’s Jungkook, “Leave me alone.” You demand through pursed lips; your fingers still running rapidly on the keypad.

His hand drops to his side, his eyebrows creasing deeply as he takes his keycard and swipes it for you.

The two of you walk quietly side by side to his front door. He reaches for his keys and pauses for a minute; taking a long look at you with fluttering eyes, and you see that same admiration in them.

“What, Jungkook?” You whine, eyes rolling as you quickly break eye contact with him.

“I love you.” He whispers, “and I don’t want you to leave me.”

“I don’t even think you know what love is,” you reply bluntly. He doesn’t acknowledge your insult as he finally opens the door and allows you to walk inside.

Jungkook begins walking towards the door without another word. This was something you were not used to at all, you had grown accustomed to him always being the one to apologize, admit he’s wrong, and ask for another chance- never did you think he would stop,

1. Phi confused the hell out of me until yesterday, and 2. I am not surprised that he and Hearts fought so bitterly [..still hurt like a bitch to see just how bad it was, though. Saw the storm coming and STILL wasn’t prepared for the carnage it wrought ;-;] – I could see that, for some reason, the brothers were not working together to begin with. They were never even physically near eachother, never onscreen together.

On the cruise ship, Phi was observing the tournament participants, taking mental notes on all of them for some reason, and he was particularly interested in the strong ones, like Xhan and Aiga [eventually fixating solely on Aiga, though he did also temporarily pay a bit of close attention to Xhan when he saw the power of Fifth Impact]*. Hearts and Evel sent Kyle to the cruise tournament for the same reason, to gather data on the bladers, particularly the strong ones [like Xhan lmao], and relay the collected data back to Evel for analysis.

But Phi and Kyle were not helping eachother. They weren’t sharing the data they gathered with eachother, or comparing notes or anything. In fact, just the opposite – they seemed to be competing with eachother [like maybe Phi and Hearts wanted to find the same thing, but did not want to share it], though unwittingly in Kyle’s case. Kyle didn’t even seem to know who Phi was, which was odd – it seems like Hearts DEFINITELY would’ve warned his minion about his Potentially Extremely Dangerous brother before putting him on a boat with him – but nevertheless that was an indication that Kyle was not sent to assist Phi. And not only that, Phi was EXTREMELY hostile to anyone he caught observing him, while he was observing everyone else; though he previously had no particular interest in Laban, he destroyed Leopard and got Laban booted from the tournament after Laban made it apparent that he could see Something Was Up with Phi, as a preventative measure to keep him from snooping any further [and specifically what Laban saw was this lmao:]

And when Phi saw Kyle recording his battle data on his phone, Phi also destroyed that phone immediately. I’m figuring that maybe Phi assumed Hearts had planted a spy on the ship as well, though he initially didn’t actually know who it was until Kyle slipped up there**.

Phi was aggressively preemptively-possessive of whatever he was trying to find on that ship, didn’t want anyone else to get it first [especially his brother], and he eventually decided that Aiga Had What He Was Looking For, because it was something to do with resonance. Phi was always very attentive whenever he saw Aiga displaying strong, though unstable, resonance symptoms, like exuding a Scary Dark Aura or doing The Hair Thing, and when Achilles glowed at Aiga, Phoenix often started glowing at Phi in response to that, as well. Phi actively encouraged the bad resonance thing.

Though, he was evidently wrong by thinking that he could get the thing he wanted from Aiga [at least at that time], because now I think ep. 41 finally told me what that actually was:

Phoenix turned purple like this before too, back when Phi battled Aiga. Phi got particularly excited when that happened, as though it was building up to something – but then the buildup fizzled out and he never actually got whatever it was, and so he became frustrated and disappointed with Aiga. Phi said something along the lines of “Not enough, huh…” or “More, huh…” [it was “Mada, ka…”, as though “More is needed” I think? Never fully trust my translations] when Aiga lost to him in ep. 22, as though that was an unsatisfying outcome for him somehow and just winning alone was “not enough”. [He was similarly upset when he broke Achilles in ep. 37, like maybe he was frustrated that he ended up destroying it before he got what he wanted out of it.]

And now, in ep. 41, we see Phoenix turn purple like that again…after it appeared to be sucking the energy/power out of Hades. Phoenix is draining its opponents’ energy in some way – and in a way that is somehow inherently different from Free’s Fafnir’s simple spinpower-stealing technique, as Hearts’ reaction to this is to become progressively more physically exhausted himself, while Phi remains fine and even gets a bit more energetic. Whatever that purple energy is, Phoenix is taking it into itself, causing it to eventually turn that same shade of purple, but Phi’s aura also turns purple like that too, showing that Phi himself has also internalized that stolen energy.

So it’s stealing more than just spinpower here, it’s almost like it’s draining fucking life-force or something. Whatever power Phi is desiring to steal with Phoenix, it looks like it’s something that comes specifically from a bey/blader pair that has achieved strong resonance [maybe not even necessarily “good” resonance, as he thought he could get it from Aiga and Achilles, and he DID get it from Hearts and Hades, who were arguably just as imbalanced/unstable]. So it looks like that’s what was “building up” and getting Phi so excited: Stolen energy. He was just unable to reach full power with what he was able to take from Aiga, is my best guess; like maybe he couldn’t steal it all that time for some reason or something.

Also worth noting: In Hearts’ flashback to when Phi left the Dead Gran, Phi said something about how Hearts had become boring and was no longer fun to “play” with, and that’s why he was going. A few minutes earlier this ep, in the present time, Phi told Hearts to stay away from Aiga because “That’s my toy”. What that says to me, upon Phi returning to challenge Hearts again in the first place, is 1. that Phi reconsidered his opinion of Hearts and had decided he was still “worthwhile” after all, 2. that he’s referring to the bladers he intends to steal the energy from as his “toys” – though “tools” would actually be a more appropriate term tbh, and 3. that he’s still sure he can potentially get something out of Aiga.

And now, because this post is clearly not long enough and I outright refuse to split them up:

Oh my fucking god I have never loved a character so much so fast, and that’s just referring to when he was first introduced. Hearts is on par with Jin from s1 now, as far as favourite characters go for me ;w; #ProtectHearts2k19!!!

Picking up on the resonance thing that this whole group seems so interested in: Hearts’ possession situation is interesting to compare and contrast to Aiga’s.

It’s stated that Hearts has been constantly overshadowed by his brother, Phi always shone brighter, and Hearts’ entire persona is a reflection of that. The way he’s so performative, how he puts on airs to work up a crowd [“You wanna see a REAL champion??” is what he said to the spectators right before he beat Aiga the first time, as an example that springs to mind], the way he constantly taunts his opponents and talks down to them, and I believe he even refers to himself as “ore-same” at times [which basically translates to something along the lines of “The great me”] – those are all symptoms of an inferiority complex. “Please think I’m cool, please think I’m strong, please love me.” He is insecure. Hearts acts so loud and proud because he’s trying to convince himself he’s powerful and impressive, more than he’s trying to convince other people. [Though, psychologically, how that works is by the logic “If a large enough group of people believe a thing, therefore it must be correct, so it makes sense for me to believe it too”]

So, he pushes himself. Pushes himself to keep up his persona. Pushes himself to look impressive, pushes himself to stay strong at all costs. He even pushes himself to ignore pain if that’s what it takes.

Pain like resonance pains. Which, as Achilles has shown us with Aiga, are the way a bey tries to tell its blader that they are pushing it too hard. And we see where that goes.

And man, Aiga felt that so hard because the exact same thing literally just happened to him [at the hands of Phi, no less]. He put himself and his selfish desires above the wellbeing of his bey, using it like a tool instead of treating it as a partner, and the constant neglect and mistreatment resulted in it shattering.

And I call Aiga selfish, and immature, but I call Hearts desperate and damaged. Aiga just wanted to be strong and cool pretty much just for the sake of that in itself, as far as I can see [and thank god he’s realized that what he was doing was so harmful], but Hearts pins his entire self-worth on his ability to stay strong under any circumstances – he hurt Hades while trying to heal himself, in contrast to Aiga, who hurt Achilles due to essentially just not understanding the severity and danger of his situation. Hearts sees the danger and just bullheadedly stands strong as he lets it batter him, rather than just being oblivious to it. Hell, his whole schtick with the columns of literal fire erupting from the stadium to signal his arrival is just another way to show his fascination with being in danger – he withstands the heat.

Also, check how he reacts to those resonance pains again. It hurts but he recovers almost immediately. And sometimes, it seems like he even likes it. He’s getting some sort of pleasure out of that pain, and I’d imagine that’s because he gets a rush out of knowing he’s overcoming it. It hurts, but he doesn’t let it stop him, so having the strong willpower to bear all the pain, to push through it and keep going anyway, is yet another thing that makes him feel powerful.

Hearts also…doesn’t seem to make the right kind of friends. The people he surrounds himself with seem to be entirely self-centered, and unconcerned with his wellbeing, if Evel is any indication. Evel seemed to be the person Hearts cared about the most, but Evel didn’t give a shit about Hearts so much as he just saw Hearts’ situation as an interesting experiment, and an opportunity to gather data. And yet in spite of Evel evidently giving no real indication that he cared about Hearts himself at all, Hearts fuckin moved the guy into his house. Evel has entire rooms full of science and beyblade stuff in the Dead Gran, and free roam of the whole place as well. Also, Count Night. Hearts found Night incredibly amusing, and let him wander around in the Dead Gran in much the same way. Night apparently lives in the air ducts now and Hearts was just A-OK with that. And not only did Night not care about Hearts, he was explicitly a thief and intruder who only came to steal shit. Night literally showed up for the sole purpose of causing Hearts problems, and Hearts just thought he was fantastic and amusing.

And that could actually be yet another thing that just points right back to Hearts enjoying it when something causes him problems, because he’s getting a rush out of overcoming those problems. Hearts being amused with Night and basically saying “Ha-haah, you wanna steal my shit? lmao just try it bitch, let’s dance! I like your style >:)” rather than just. Removing The Obvious Threat From His Household. Makes me think that he must just be getting amusement out of thwarting him.

Mr. Demon also seems to be hired help, rather than a friend, but there’s still Kyle, though. We didn’t even see Kyle in ep. 41, no clue who he’s loyal to yet. I wouldn’t be surprised if Kyle’s just Evel’s buddy and is gonna stick around with him, but I hope to hell that he’s actually at least ONE guy that Hearts keeps around who actually…cares about Hearts…

And now, some Aside Notes that are Actually Important Too but I couldn’t find a way to shoehorn them into that big semi-linear plotline rundown without making this post TOO much more disjointed so I’m just tacking them on down here lmao:

•*Phi didn’t always feel the need to battle people HIMSELF while trying to gauge how powerful they were, he opted out of some battles, choosing instead to just sit back and observe as they fought with eachother. That was the first indicator of Phi’s snotty “I won’t play with it if I don’t think it’s really worth my time” attitude, I think. Lazy shit can’t be bothered unless he’s sure he’ll get something out of it lmao.

…Though, honestly, that itself says that Phi must not really find beyblading particularly fun just for it’s own sake, huh…“getting nothing out of it” means he’s getting no enjoyment/entertainment out of it as well :/ He calls beys/bladers “toys”, but treats them like tools, only seeing a point in using them to work towards an ulterior goal. Hm. Even when he was little, the first thing he asked when he was trying to choose a bey was something like “Which one’s the strongest?”, that was his ultimate concern. Like there’s no such thing as just screwing around, killing time, and having fun with a hobby unless you’re achieving something [like bettering yourself somehow]…Could be that that right there is the root of why he bullied Hearts so much, actually. See the flashback soccer match. Hearts was trying to have fun, while Phi was being serious, and seemingly looking down on Hearts for it. Phi did not play with his brother, he competed with him. “I am strong, and you are weak. You are inferior. I am clearly the superior brother.” Hearts’ inferiority complex seems to have been caused by Phi having a major superiority complex, and stepping on Hearts to prop himself up and assert it. Nasty. Makes me wonder wtf put the apparent belief in Phi’s head that Fun Is Pointless Unless It Is Also Productive in the first place. Parental pressure? If it was that, then why didn’t Hearts get the same sort of treatment? Or maybe he did and just didn’t take it to heart…

• **Honestly, a thing that keeps snagging me is just Kyle’s lack of familiarity with Phi. Like, if Hearts sent him to figure out who Phi became the most interested in [in order to intercept that person to prevent Phi from getting to them], then he’d have to be told who Phi was, so that doesn’t work. And the possibility that Kyle was purely on a random data-gathering expedition for Evel, and Evel and Hearts didn’t expect him to run into Phi at all, just seems…really unlikely. Like, they were both after the same type of people. Kyle was definitely there because of Phi being there, even if Kyle didn’t know it, so I guess what I’m stuck on is the fact that idk why Hearts cared so much about what Phi was doing? It seems the most reasonable to assume that he intended to interrupt Phi’s plans, though he has shown us, by walking right into them and getting Hades smashed and stolen, that he didn’t actually know what Phi’s plan WAS. Maybe it was just pure sibling rivalry, like “I don’t know what you’re doing, but I’m gonna find out and then do it better!”? I might have the answer if I could actually understand what was being said, haha…

•And, last but not least: ARE THESE GUYS ALIENS OR NOT, BEYBURST????

Because, like, we’ve see them as children now, evidently on Earth, with a human butler, living in the Dead Gran all those years ago as well, ON EARTH…

But PHI’S EYES…AND THE METEOR…HE WAS UNAFFECTED BY THE FLAMES, THEY DIDN’T BURN HIM…the impact didn’t kill or even harm him, whether he was on/in the meteor or just near the strike site…Humans don’t survive shit like that?? Did Phi somehow fake a fucking meteor strike?? For dramatic effect?? How’d he do that? Even Hearts and Evel seemed perplexed by the crater.

Also, there’s Phi’s proper introduction to the main crew. He was described by DJ as an “invincible/undefeated, immortal blader who nobody knows much about, he just showed up all ~mysterious~ and it’s rumored he fell to Earth on a meteor!”, and I’m just ???

1. If Phi hadn’t been on Earth for very long, that nicely explained why he was not only unknown but undefeated, if he just…hadn’t ever been recorded losing a battle simply because he hadn’t been recorded battling much at all yet, but 2. CLEARLY PHI HAS BEEN HERE AWHILE BC CHILDHOOD FLASHBACK, so was he just in hiding that whole time before starting the meteor rumor and making his dramatic entrance? Maybe, actually, because in Hearts’ flashback to Phi leaving the Dead Gran, both he and his brother looked to be the exact same age they are now, so that flashback must not have taken place that long ago…did Phi just live in the Dead Gran his whole life and never leave until recently, when he randomly decided he wanted to wreak some havoc because he was bored?? If that is the case, how is he so strong, if there was really no one to practice beyblading with but Hearts? Did he really only battle with his brother alone for so many years? hhhhhh ep. 41 answered 500 questions but made 5000 more…

Chocolate Temptation Part 3 - Mitsuki Aoi Route

Omggg I dislike Mitsuki’s music gahh, it’s annoying lol. Anyway, it’s kinda cute how he gets embarrassed at people watching him work so closely when he’s decorating chocolate. I guess he’s similar with Jin in that he doesn’t seem very nice hahaha, except they don’t seem like it for different reasons. For Jin, he’s just disinterested in anything aside from chocolate, whereas Mitsuki’s very shy so he doesn’t like it when people focus on him. I’m not sure how old Mitsuki is supposed to be but he’s a man huh?! He looks rather childish so I kinda forget lmao. He just kinda reminded me when he told the heroine that she’ll be cooking for four grown men since it’s her turn to cook dinner tonight and Mitsuki went grocery shopping with her.

Why are crazy fangirls always so.. crazy? Sigh. Look at what they did! Pushed the heroine on to the road, making Mitsuki have to save her from the car but then twist his ankle or whatever and break his bone instead! Are you happy now that you injured the guy you like?! Sigh, these fangirls in all these games and stories really need to get their act together on what their priorities are. I’m surprised Mitsuki is so popular with all the girls everywhere lol. I guess it’s because he’s cute. And him being shy just makes people love him even more lol. I think Mitsuki is so adorable to have this “chocolate zone” where he goes into a trance and talks about what kind of chocolates he wants to make after an idea comes to him, it’s nice listening to his ideas since they sound interesting and he’s so serious about it, so you can really see how cool he is too!

Mitsuki’s starting to warm up to the heroine, he even rushed out to help her when she forgot the prices of some chocolates even though he absolutely hates facing customers! Mitsuki’s chocolates lack the strength in not caring about what other people think about his products huh? Tbh, I think I have a similar problem. Although I try my best to stop other people’s thoughts and opinions to sway or hinder what I choose to do, it ends up affecting me either way. I think I also lack the experience to be confident in myself at work, I guess I gotta try and improve myself along with Mitsuki haha! Just as Mitsuki is not really making the kind of chocolates he really wants to make, I’m also in the same position where the fear of what others will think stops me from doing things the way I want and should. Life is difficult😅😅

Lmao at Mitsuki saying the heroine does so much work for her mook but doesn’t do much at the shop🤣 He made up for being rude by telling her he knows that because he’s always looking at her when he’s making chocolate, so cute☺️ After he bonded with her talking about his reasons for designing whatever chocolates, Mitsuki has been so bold by talking to her first and even saying such adorable things like he’s happy to see her first thing in the morning! Kyaa, so cuteee~ I think, just like the heroine, even though Mitsuki is younger, your heart can’t help but flutter when he’s so innocent and sweet like he is now.

Ohh so Mitsuki is 19, wonder if the heroine is like 24 or something then. I guess yeah, that would be a big hurdle to overcome, he’s like young and just starting to blossom and find his ground in society and as a chocolatier so she doesn’t want to like “prey” on him haha. But he’s so cuteeeee, he immediately said yes when she asked him if he was free tonight before she even said what she wanted him for lolll. Then he says he’s happy as long as he can spend time with her? C'mon Mitsuki, don’t play with her heart like this hahaha. Aww she dressed up and he called her pretty and cute, then played with her hair saying it was fluffy🤣🤣 He’s so innocent, I’m dying🤣

Aww the dinner went so well until the heroine sneakily paid the bill without telling him~ Bills always kill the mood lmao. I can understand how both Mitsuki and the heroine feels though, Mitsuki earns money and is capable so having someone else pay for him makes it seem like she’s treating him like a kid, and he wanted to go along as well, so she shouldn’t have to pay for his half. Whereas, for her, it’s true that the company will cover for it anyway, and she did spontaneously get him to come out and didn’t even tell him what place it was and took him there so she probably felt rude if she didn’t pay for his share. But yeah, it’s a problem that isn’t really about the bill but more about how they view their age difference in the end, so they’ll have to solve it either way, the bill just happened to trigger it haha.

So cute how Mitsuki wanted to pay her back by shouting her for like another date and got her to meet up with him at the park so that Jun wouldn’t be able to tease them hahahah. Hearing a guy say that seeing you motivates him to push himself and work harder and that it brightens up his day is like omg, so sweet, how does Mitsuki even say these things out loud so easily?! It’s kinda cute how all the brothers can tell that Mitsuki really likes the heroine and are very protective of him haha, it’s so nice to see them care about him so much. And it’s funny how the heroine can’t tell at all lmaoo. Mitsuki and Ibuki competing on TV?! Guess Mitsuki’s gonna try his best to beat him now since he thinks that the heroine might get stolen away by Ibuki so he wouldn’t want to lose, he’s already losing in terms of age so I’m sure he doesn’t want to lose in other aspects he can control haha.

Omg, they’re making a piece montee for the competition and the time limit is 10 hours! How do people even concentrate for that long… Dang, Mitsuki is so straightforward, it’s hard to believe he used to be so shy that he couldn’t even talk to the heroine. He’s practically declared that he likes her by saying he doesn’t want her to be stolen by Ibuki haha. Young people these days🤣 But I guess it does help for the heroine to talk to her friend at work about Mitsuki, since she really helped her understand how she really felt and how even though the heroine is worried about the age gap, the friend can tell that she really likes him and that’s much more important than the age gap. I mean, Mitsuki is pretty level headed and even though he may be inexperienced, he can be mature as well so they’ll be fine together! I always find it so amazing how someone just being there beside you can put you so at ease, it’s pretty cool.

Mitsuki is so bold to actually kiss the heroine! He’s younger but he’s really forward! Legit just kept going once she was like, it’s okay, she doesn’t not like it😆 Mitsuki is so stubborn about only asking her to be his girlfriend after he wins the competition even though he wants to keep kissing her lmao. It was obvious that Mitsuki was making a piece montee of the flower bouquet the heroine gave him in the beginning when he was in the hospital that inspired him and made him know her better, but seeing the heroine realise the depth of his feelings and his thoughts behind the piece was really sweet. The happy ending was good but omg the super happy ending seems so nice and fun since Mitsuki and the heroine are home alone together for the whole week~~ honestly though, if Jin and Ibuki always do these last minute going to weddings etc for work, I still think they should hire someone to help out, like seriously, what would they have done if the heroine wasn’t there?? It would have been just Mitsuki working and how could he handle making chocolate and the customer service?? Anywho, now they can bond alone without anyone interrupting them I guess lol.

Lol, they’ve kissed so many times already and yet they’re still so embarrassed over an accidental kiss lolll. Mitsuki smelling of vanilla and cocoa sounds so good, I bet it smells so delicious and comforting 🤣 Hmmmm I feel like the heroine was much stronger before they started dating. Now, all she does is pretty much cry and be a big baby so that it can show how mature Mitsuki is… Really, two mature people can be together you know… One of them doesn’t need to be inferior or be like a baby for the relationship to work… Sigh. But now that they’re finally together, lol I thought they were together ages ago and knew their feelings but maybe I was getting the happy and super happy ending mixed up lol. Anyway!!! The chocolate making lessons are such a great idea! The chocolates of happiness can only be made by people who care about each other and stuff so teaching people the skills to do it together would create that happiness. I totally would join if there was one here! The ending nicely rounded everything up with them thinking of different ways people could make these chocolates of happiness together😊

Season 2

Back to the competition story as usual, let’s see how it goes~~ I guess since both Mitsuki and Tokita are Dino’s apprentices, they’re going to be rivals in chocolate and love too? Loll. Since they both seem to care a lot about the heroine. I guess a nice difference in this story is that Mitsuki is teamed up with another girl for the competition haha. Otherwise, the heroine and Mitsuki are frustrating me to no end with their lack of communication, coming to pointless conclusions and acting like children gahhh. They were so much more level headed in the first story like seriously…

Anyway, the heroine and Mitsuki continue to be irritating with them doing what they think is best without properly communicating because they’re scared of facing the other and other crap like that, which is very annoying. I also hateee that in every route, all the guys have to love the heroine and create some sort of rivalry. Like, you can kinda see why Tokita is interested in her, but seriously guys, she’s Mitsuki’s girlfriend, hands off, okay?!?! Like, c'mon. It’s just unnecessary love drama trying to push the relationship forward when really, the problem isn’t whether they love each other, it’s that they’re not talking to each other properly. Also, honestly don’t know why the heroine took so long to reject Tokita when she was obviously not interested. Not wanting to hurt him is such a shitty reason since unless she’s really considering him (which she wasn’t!), then she’s going to hurt him either way, might as well make it clear to him asap so that Mitsuki won’t feel so insecure, like dude, you can’t blame Mitsuki for thinking she’ll get stolen when she can’t even reject a guy when she’s already in a relationship. Know your priorities, woman! I also don’t understand what is with these games etc where guys don’t give up on trying to get the attention of someone else’s girlfriend, like seriously? Is that romantic? Do people like this shit? It’s not even like the boyfriend is trash and a jerk or whatever, they’re good people trying to progress their relationship and like they’re all friends too like wtf? Go somewhere else, ugh, I hate these stupid love triangles and fruitless unrequited loves that are ridiculous.

Anyway, the usual Eleanor stuff and chocolate competition happens but wow, didn’t expect Mitsuki to practically propose to her already lol, so young and committed! Didn’t realise that they had a mother, it might have been mentioned somewhere but yeah wow, she really hasn’t been watching over her children and their shop lol. I liked Mitsuki’s perspective for the tournament though, because really, it didn’t show anything about the the chocolate making and then they won, so it was nice to see that Mitsuki understood what his qualities were and remembered why he likes to make chocolate, which is to make people smile, and that’s why he won. I liked that. Anyway, Mitsuki giving her the matching rings was actually the ending! I didn’t even realise lolol! Didn’t get to see Dino’s reactions etc to the competition so I didn’t expect that, now it feels kinda incomplete lol.

Overall, as usual, the first season is great but the second just doesn’t deliver. I feel like for all the first seasons, although they had their similarities, it was mostly different, whereas the second season was literally the same thing for all three brothers, just a change in perspective depending on the brother and some changes in the love rivals and relationships, but otherwise, there wasn’t much of a difference, and the guys were stuck with the same problem e.g. Mitsuki not feeling mature enough for the heroine and trying to block the other guys from courting her. Things randomly resolve because it’s ending but nothing substantial really happens, so yeah, really can’t recommend the second part, maybe except Jin’s one, I didn’t mind that. Otherwise, it was pretty frustrating, why’s it such a common thing in these stories for the guy’s friends to go after the guy’s girlfriend aka the heroine?! Like seriously, ugh.

Anyway, I really enjoyed this game. I probably like it just as much as Princess Closet if we’re just talking about the first seasons since I feel like the relationships, the romance and the stories developed very nicely and at a good pace, the guys were all sweet and romantic in their individual ways, definitely recommend it~

Reviewing Brea's Stuff - BTS Soulmate AU (2/2)

PART 2/2 (Rap Monster, Jin, J-Hope, Suga)

I want to draw ya'll's attention to one of my friends: @jimin-jungshook-over-literalbae. She's a k-pop reaction/scenario/text writer, and not only have I missed her as a friend so much during my long hiatus, I've also missed her writing. Thankfully, there's a lot for me to catch up on! She asked me to give my opinions on her BTS AUs, and with her permission, I've turned my reviews it into a bit of advertising! If you wanna read the stuff I did, ya'll don't have to scroll super far to find it all. I'll be reviewing each AU from a Reader's Standing (silly, sometimes improper sentences; sO MUCH swearing; caps lock) and from a Critic's Standing (second reading; at least one paragraph).

Rap Monster (Critic's Standing):

The scenario for this AU was interesting, and how Brea made sure to remember Y/N's job throughout the story. This review is going to be far shorter because I'm literally taken away by how fun and romantic this was? Fire is such a classic writing tool, and Brea used it so well, in this AU, I just loved it so much. I'm pretty sure this will be my favourite, when I'm done reading Jin's and J-Hope's, 'cause I'm sitting here and I can't find anything I would want to improve on this scenario, in terms of how it played out. Brea, this was perfect.

Jin (Reader's Standing):

I wouldn't be just sitting outside relaxing, I'd be on the look out for sp00ders.

But good solid first paragraph, in other words

Jin (Critic's Standing):

This one had such a sweet aesthetic to it, it was so Seokjin, I enjoyed it so much! The guys messing around and disturbing Y/N's rest was on point, and Seokjin shielding Y/N from a baseball ball (try saying that ten times fast) was so princely of him. Timid Y/N was cute, too, and Seokjin again being a prince and helping them stand up. Not to mention the introduction of the calming wind soulmate cue that Y/N and Seokjin have, and how he immediately knows Y/N is his soulmate, that was just so... soap opera-esque, so well done and I loved it. Also, Taehyung apologizing and then smiling like the puppy he is was a bonus.

The first date was fun and pleasant to read, and as I said in the Reader's Standing, I really liked how you included things about Seokjin that Y/N know that ARMY already knows, it was a very nice and natural addition. Jin feeding Y/N was also a win, and the two watching movies and cuddling, then falling asleep on the couch, and Seokjin calling Y/N 'princess' before he left was just so smooth. I'd have to place this one as my current third, after Jungkook's and Namjoon's, who's still in first. Such a romantic and casual scenario, Brea, well done!

J-Hope (Reader's Standing):

Y/N is super busy in this one, hoo boy

Drink carriers are also called cup trays! I love how words can be called different words. :D

Y/N in this scenario is so relatable, they're a hard worker and—oh wait, there's Y/N's soulmate and it burns again. I'm serious, I'm not used to reading this much romance, I'm a little tired, want to take a nap but MUST FINISH, c'mon Faith, you've only got one left. That meeting J-Hope on 'accident' (it was fate, we all know it was fate) went together so well, it was very pleasant to read. Then they formally met and Y/N brought him to their office to review the proposal for footage, and Hoseok prompted Y/N to discover their matching flame tattoos, except each was on a different arm, and I thought that was a cool little feature. Not to mention that Hoseok bows low and for a prolonged amount of time before Y/N makes him stand because they think they're equals, that was a really nice touch. The car ride was fun to read, I could totally see Hoseok doing that. And we see the guys again—Jimin first, 'cause that puppy was so excited to see his hyung, apparently—and they seemed to have a really nice time. The fluff at the end was so sweet, and I just... it was so cute, I loved this one. Wouldn't change a thing.

Suga (Reader's Standing):

Never mind Namjoon's, this one was my favourite. I love how their meeting was so laid-back and romantic but had that literally icy cool soulmate twist to it, I absolutely loved this scenario. It was just a little more sweeter than the others because of how you portrayed Yoongi, and everything he did with Y/N. It was nice to see Hoseok, Taehyung and Jungkook again, and we even got an appearance by Yeontan! The way the ice spread and melted was so pleasing to read, and the little dinner and movie date Y/N and Yoongi had at his apartment was cute. I'm glad this was the one Brea started with, it was so so good!

I really hope Brea does more of these. I'd personally love to see Got7 or Monsta X (though Monsta X a little more, because Wonho has taken over my life). That's it, I'm out of here. >w< Go follow Brea. Do it.

Lordt.. I love Asuka but her and Lili in a movie together would've been a huge mess. Their little rivalry is a bit boring to me. Nonsensical. No point other than "comedic relief". Just nothing. Also I'm glad this is a Lili hate blog because I too, dislike that lil blonde gremlin lmao

Exactly. As I've said - I love the concept of Asuka, and she can actually be a fun character. But Lili literally brings Asuka down - both lore wise, and writing wise. Asuka with her powers to repel the devil (you know, Devil Kazuya and Devil Jin?) she had the potential to be one of the heroes in the series. And she's one that could also have had good character development, too. (Perhaps acknowledging her flaws - her hating cocky people, yet seem to have a tendency to be cocky herself and mock ppl? - as seen in her TK7 win animations)

Asuka also mirrors Jin pretty well, and is the opposite of her aunt. Asuka is presumably quite sociable being the typical teenage girl, Jin is very antisocial. Asuka is upbeat and expressive, Jin is more serious and stoic. It would've been interesting to see this dynamic interact more often because of their differences. It makes me wish that Pachinko scene where Jin saves Asuka from Kazuya was canon and used in an actual game. As that would've been a sweet part of this theorized dynamic - that perhaps they both save each other. Asuka saves Jin from Devil Jin, and Jin saves Asuka from other dangers that she may not know how to defend herself from.

They would've been a much more interesting dynamic than... Asuka and Lili lmao. They bring absolutely nothing to the story, nor do they have any nuance to themselves. As you said, it's nonsensical and just comic relief. But why do comic relief with a Kazama? Someone who could've been important to the story. Not only that - but Lili is just a trope I don't like. I never care much for the spoiled rich brats. It's especially funny because Leo and Miguel have lost ppl thanks to the war of Zaibatsu vs G-Corp. But all that happened to Lili was that her dad lost his OIL COMPANY LMAOOO. I don't feel bad for a gazillionaire losing HAHDHFBGDFHGBH.

But perhaps I wouldn't have mind the rivalry between Asuka and Lili had it not taken over Asuka's character completely. Had it just been a thing to the side and a thing that they occasionally focus on. But no, Asuka and Lili must always be a two in one deal and it never gives Asuka time to actually be involved in the main lore, be important, or learn the powers she was given at birth.

So I know a WHOLE MOVIE dedicated to this would've just been unbearable to watch. Now if it was just a Tek movie and Asuka played a major role without Lili? Yeah, maybe something good could've done with that. But Asuka and Lili in a movie, I just know it would've ended up like that fanservice web-manga... full of, well, fanservice, bad jokes, and a meaningless plot.
