One of my favorite headcannons to think about is that goh Nicknames his pokemon

And like most of the time it's just short for there name so like grookey to key or roo

But then there's the pokemkn that have split evos and for those he'll use like one part of the name for 1 and the other part for the other one so like espurr being es and purr

And then when they evolve the name changes to match there current evo so like meowstic is meow and stic

But then there's pokemkn like the eevees where he's going to need more then 2 and there's only so many combos of eevee

So they get more diffrent names

I personally like to think that there names have a theme

So like the friendship evos are space themes with eclipse for espeon yue for umbreon or some word for moonlight slyveon gets to comet (cause the comet shards in the games are blue and I like to think he gets a shiny one hehe)

Pyre.
