I am a notoriously dumb fuck today, seems to me.
Have to collect some saliva for tests.
Was told to do this "Immediately After Waking Up If You Wait Ten Minutes It Won't Be Correct!!!1"
The next one goes in 30 minutes and the next one in 60. And then not to go back to sleep for the whole day, and then do one before going to sleep in the evening.
Chew on the cotton for 1-2 minutes, put it in the tube, write down the time. Simple, yes? No!
Woke up, tried to contemplate did I actually wake up or not yet, got scared it's taking too long, grabbed the cotton, start chewing on it like a good boi I am, took the phone to write the time - turned out I was sleeping for only two hours, it not the morning yet.
Freaked out that I fucked up the tube, went to frantically google where to buy a new one, while deciding should I just go for it and call it a morning, when came back to my senses turned out I was chewing on the cotton for 20 minutes now.
The test is for stress hormone. (ba dum tss)
#well I am stressed all right!#good news is there's a lab nearby that might sell me one#so my good researcher won't be inconvenienced after all#why couldn't I just sleep for my eight hours like a normal person?#(because I'm not one)#you're supposed to collect it on weekend#when you're not stressed by the work and alarm clock#so I can't put an alarm on to signify the morning for me#and how should I know if it's morning or not without lying around for much more than 10 minutes?#I'll ask this later when I get the replacement tube thingy#wouldn't like it to fuck this up for second day in a row

So far this file is called 'birdritch'. Those of you who follow my art tumblr might know where this is going. I needed something light to write, been a low day. There has been zero editing or reading through and it is past 2am, sorry and enjoy! (Don't need any typos pointed out, ty.)
---
“You are supposed to be home.”
Danny blinked up from his work to find Lucius Fox standing in the doorway of the lab. The man had the sport of expression one wore around a child who had just done something disappointing.
(Danny was used to the look, even if it had been a long time since he'd been a kid. Or seen his parents, for that mater.)
“Okay, but,” Danny started, “we agreed that I could start at ten and take my eight hours and one for lunch—”
“A mandatory one hour for lunch away from your desk,” Lucius interrupted.
“Yes, yes, I’ve been doing that! I’ve been eating out on the rooftop garden or even leaving the building and eating out or taking lunch to the park. I’ve been behaving, Lucius, I promise.”
Lucius raised a judgmental brow. “It’s after eight, Danny.”
“What? No. I have an alarm on my phone and everything… okay, well, that only works if my phone is charged.” Danny jabbed uselessly at his phone screen. He followed the charger, which was plugged in, all the way to the wall. He resisted the urge to let his head fall against the wall. “I guess Leslie fried the outlet again or something. I’m sorry, Lucius.”
“It’s fine, Danny,” Lucius said, “but only because, one, I know you have been trying, and two, I am going to buy you the most embarrassing alarm clock I can find and mount it to something in this lab. Now it is late and I am going home and so are you, Mr. Fenton.”
“Yes sir, Mr. Fox,” Danny said and made an exaggerate show of packing up his backpack, dead phone and all.
Lucius gave a little snort at the antics, but left with a ‘get home safe, Danny’. After his boss was gone, Danny took the time to actually make sure everything was in his bag and secure. He still didn’t get why he couldn’t just work late, but apparently WE had something of an insistence of work life balance. According to Lucius, Danny crossed the line too often and so was being kept in line. (Danny didn’t think mention he didn’t have much of a life, literally and otherwise, would help his case.)
Still, Danny mused as he stepped inside the empty elevator, the rules did keep him from becoming his parents. And that was a very, very good thing! Being a mad scientist in Gotham usually ended up landing someone in Arkham. It was just that after the chaos that Danny grew up with, going back to his empty apartment was depressing. It wasn’t as if Danny never got out and did things, it was just that all those things were mostly on the weekend. Most days he just didn’t have a reason to go back to his place.
There was no getting out of it tonight, the great and powerful Fox had spoken and Danny knew better than to try and sneak back up. He lifted his hands over his head, stretching as the elevator descended the last few floors. Oh well, at least it was before ten. He could still grab something on the way home and have a full, warm meal to take his pain meds on. By the pull along his forearm he would need them.
“Night, Bill,” Danny said as he passed the security guard who was on the evening shift. He got another ‘get home safe’ in response and gave a little wave in reply over his shoulder.
Even after the few years in Gotham, it still amused Danny how much everyone wished everyone else some sort of safe travels here. As much as Gotham was a city of hardened realists, there still was so much hope about it. Hope people got home safely, that the Bats would get where they were need in time, that the city would rebuild again and again and again. The undercurrent of hope was so strong that Danny could practically feel it moving through the city like a river.
It had been one of the reasons Danny had taken the job.
He could use hope.
He also had been very careful not to look too closely into it all. While Danny’s early life may have been dominated by the occult, he tried to stay away from it these days outside of the necessary visits to the Realm for his health. As much as the Far Frozen was full of ghost yetis, Frostbite was still a being of science and being there felt more like a cold vacation to his weird relatives than anything else those days.
Danny was actually worried that he was getting close to needing another visit. He shouldn’t, not yet. He wasn’t actually due back for another three months, but the thought of visiting Frostbite had been pulling at the back of Danny’s mind. The most annoying part of it all, is that there wasn’t any concrete reason that Danny felt he needed to go, just a lot of little things: the ache was deeper in his bones, he’d been missing noticing little things, his near constant vertigo was worse, and, oddest of all, he had been feeling chilled.
Maybe he should just take a long weekend and go for a quick visit.
Lucius would undoubtedly approve of the break.
Tomorrow, Danny would ask tomorrow.
(As long as he remembered.)

love thy neighbor
member — fwb! neighbor!joshua x f reader genre — smut, light angst, college au, idiots to lovers, happy ending word count — 5.1k synopsis — there's perks to having your fwb live next door to you, but there's also downsides. like the fact that it's really hard to hide that you're in love with him. warnings — descriptions of female anatomy, one mention of periods, masturbation (both reader & joshua), the smut is REALLY quick, premature ejaculation sort of, a little bit of body worship, nicknames (baby, good girl), not really described but implied creampie, they are idiots and they are in love and it's gross and sweet notes — tysm to @wongyuseokie & @onlymingyus for help choosing the banner <3 and thanks to @petrichor-han for this idea !! fun fact this was originally going to be for skz han but i figured it would also make a great shua fic so i chose him instead. fun fact #2 i am addicted to giving shua's fics religious titles even when there's no mention of religion in the fic at all lmao. it gives me a giggle like how could i not when it fits so well?? also this is one of my few attempts at angst so if you liked this please reblog or send and ask and lmk how you liked it! hope you enjoy!!
joshua should be asleep right now.
really, he should. it’s 11pm on a sunday night and he’s got his chemistry lab at 8am tomorrow, and he’s still got a couple of assignments that he really needs to catch up on before the final next week.
but then there's that bump against the wall that he’s grown so accustomed to, and his eyes fly open.
maybe becoming fuck buddies with your next-door neighbor isn't the smartest idea he's ever had, because this is the fourth time this week he's had to hear your moans as he tries to fall asleep.
the walls are thin, but he's certain that you must not realize just how thin they are, because he can hear every sound you make as clear as day. every whimper, every buzz of your vibrator, even every moan of his name, barely muffled by the wall separating his room from yours. especially every moan of his name. and it’s been driving him insane.
really, it’s his own fault for trying to be a polite neighbor. he almost wishes that he hadn’t run into you when you’d moved into the apartment next door at the beginning of the semester, because then he probably wouldn’t have recognized you at that party during homecoming weekend and got to talking with you.
and because of that he probably wouldn’t have taken you home from said party and given you the best dicking down of your life (your words, not his), and then after that you probably wouldn’t have decided that you wanted to keep fucking him and agreed to become friends with benefits.
except he doesn’t actually wish that at all.
having your situationship live right next door is pretty convenient, after all. you’ll shoot him an “omw” text and be waiting at his front door seconds later. he forgot to bring condoms? it’ll just take a sec to run home and grab some. when you accidentally leave your panties in his apartment, he can drop them off the same day and then forget about it (he definitely won’t).
he could probably even just bang on his side of the wall and you’d know to come over, but to him that’s a little too far, too impolite. he at least has the decency to send a text first.
a part of him wonders if that’s why you’re so noisy at night, if you’re doing it on purpose and knowing he’ll hear it, secretly hoping for him to come knocking at your door. but he doesn’t want to assume, doesn’t want to show up without asking and realize he’s been completely wrong this whole time and make himself look like a fool.
so he settles for earplugs instead. because there’s no way he can sit there and listen to the sounds you make and not start thinking about all the times he’s been in your bed with you just inches away. and by the time he’s cum all over his fist and he’s finally worn himself out enough to fall asleep, it’s 4am and he has class in the morning and he’s wasted an entire night yet again.
he’s been inside your apartment dozens of times, enough to know the layout by heart. enough to know that your bedroom sits directly next to his, enough to know that your bed is pushed against that very thin wall the same way his is and that your nightstand with the drawer full of toys is right next to the bed.
oh, he’s gotten to know more than just your apartment over the course of the semester. he knows which positions are your favorite (you’ve never told him outright, but you always cum harder when he fucks you in missionary). he knows the names you like to be called and the ones you like to call him. he can even tell which vibrator you’re using right now (the red one doesn’t buzz as loud, so you only use it when your favorite purple one is dead. tonight you’re using the purple one.)
but he’s also gotten to know the way you smile when you see a cat video, the way your forehead wrinkles when you talk about your calculus professor, and the way you like your pancakes in the morning (though he’s never been able to make them for you himself, he swears one day he will. one slice of butter, a ton of syrup, and a handful of cut up strawberries.)
so maybe that’s what makes these nights so unbearable. he can keep lying to himself that it doesn’t bother him, that it wouldn’t bother him as much as it does if he just… didn’t like you.
but, unfortunately, he does like you. and he’s stuck with this problem until he finds a way to fix it, but just like in the lab analyses he has to write every week, he’s got no ideas. so he’ll have to settle for fucking his hand and biting his pillow so you don’t get suspicious of the noises he’s making, and hope that his silly little crush goes away on its own.
after all, he isn’t anything to you. albeit a sexual one, he’s still just a friend. and he’s certain that’s all you want.
god, you wish that joshua could see you right now. you’re certain he’d love it.
earlier tonight you’d had to physically force yourself to turn your phone off so that you wouldn’t be tempted to text him to come over. you’d already texted him on monday night and thursday afternoon, and you’d knocked on his door on saturday at practically the crack of dawn because you’d woken up thinking about him.
were you embarrassed about it? absolutely, but that wasn’t enough to stop you. okay, maybe sometimes it was, because the girl who lived across the hall had caught you (on multiple occasions) sneaking out of joshua’s apartment twice in one day and you refused to meet him again for nearly a week after that.
but joshua didn’t seem one bit embarrassed by your arrangement. he always gave you a friendly smile and offered to walk you to your door afterwards, which you always declined, and he always made sure to say he looked forward to seeing you again. you even saw him wave at the nosy neighbor girl when he’d left your apartment once (which you only remembered because you’d spent the rest of the night in tears about it, but not that you were jealous about it or anything).
you felt bad enough meeting up with him so often, but you felt even worse that you didn’t even have a label to show for it. you knew it was probably exactly what he’d wanted out of this, just somebody to call for a quick fuck, but it made you mad. it was why you got so angry about the girl across the hall; because you knew everybody loved joshua, so of course he couldn’t love only you.
he was hot and he was in a frat and he probably had a hundred girls he could call if he wanted to. with how often you text him to fuck, plus the other people he’s probably seeing? he’s gotta be exhausted.
which is why most nights you opt for touching yourself instead. in the months since you first met joshua, your vibrators have been going through batteries a lot faster than usual, a fact you’re not exactly proud of but will own up to nonetheless.
it’s not your fault that the image of him leaning over you, his thin gold chain dangling in your face as he fucks you is burned into your head practically 24 hours of the day. or the fact that his voice plays on repeat in your brain, specifically that one time he called you “baby” and you came so hard you nearly passed out.
so really, it’s actually his fault that he’s constantly on your mind. his fault for being sexy… or your fault for falling for him?
either way, you find yourself yet again with your pussy stuffed full of your own fingers and your favorite purple vibrator on your clit (you remembered to charge it last night, after you came to the thought of joshua fucking you on your kitchen counter), wishing he could be there to see it.
you close your eyes and picture him in front of you, holding the vibrator against your clit as he grins down at you. such a good girl, he’d say, brushing his thumb over your nipple with his free hand. you love this, don’t you?
“fuck, yes, joshua,” you reply, gasping as you push your fingers deeper inside. you arch off the bed a little, pushing your head back against your pillow. you’ve learned that he loves it when you call him by his full name instead of “shua” or “josh”; you don’t know why, but it always seems to drive him crazy, and you never fail to leave his apartment sore in all the best places afterwards.
you spread your legs a little wider and moan, rolling your cheek to the side as you imagine him fucking you with his fingers instead of your own. i can tell you’re getting close, imaginary joshua says with a smirk, his hand cupped against your pussy as he thrusts his fingers in and out at a bruising pace.
“mhm,” you whimper, curling your fingers and trying to convince yourself that it feels as good as when he does it. “please, joshua—”
you turn your vibrator up to the highest setting, your hips canting into the air as you squeeze your eyes tighter shut. you can feel the waves beginning to wash over you and you repeat his name like a plea, chanting it over and over until you can’t form words anymore.
cum for me, baby, all over my fingers, he says, and your mouth falls open as you let go, your knee accidentally smacking against the wall as your legs shake with pleasure. you keep your vibrator held firmly against your clit until it sends you over the edge again, still riding the high of your first orgasm as you struggle to breathe through it. joshua loves to overstimulate you, until all you can do is weakly push at his hands and beg him to leave your exhausted cunt alone.
the post-orgasm clarity soon starts to hit and you’re left with the realization that you just got off from pretending your neighbor is just as in love with you as you are with him. absolutely pathetic.
but your eyes are starting to droop and you’re quickly finding that you’re too tired to stay awake to think about how much of a loser you are, so you tuck your favorite vibrator back into its spot in your drawer and put your pajamas back on and tuck yourself into bed, trying not to wish joshua was there beside you instead of infinitely far away on the other side of the wall.
when joshua wakes up the next morning, he half expects you to be waiting outside his door again.
of course anyone would be annoyed at being woken up by their neighbor before 7am, but then you’d sheepishly told him that you’d had the most insane wet dream about him and he’d been more than happy to let you come in and bounce yourself on his lap while he watched the early morning sunlight stream through his bedroom window onto your cheeks.
pretty much the perfect morning, in his eyes, except for the fact that you hadn’t slept in his bed with him. you never sleep over and it’s obvious why, but maybe it’s for good reason: he won’t get so attached to you.
unfortunately, though, this morning you aren’t waiting for him, so he trudges to his kitchen to make himself one lonely cup of coffee and one lonely stack of frozen waffles and get ready for his day.
he’s started noticing patterns about when and why you text him, and he finds himself checking his phone all day.
on mondays, because you have all your classes on those days and you’re already exhausted so why not get fucked within an inch of your life before you settle in for the night?
on thursdays, usually in the afternoons because both your schedules happen to line up where he’s just finished his work shift and you’re on your break between classes so it leaves the perfect amount of time for him to eat you out.
if you have a particularly hectic morning you’ll text him right away and ask him if he’d come over once you get home that night, and he’ll reply that he can’t wait with a big red heart emoji.
in fact, most of the times you want to see him is when you’re stressed or upset, which makes sense to him but at the same time makes him a little disappointed. he hopes that you’d want to see him on your happiest days, because any day he gets to see you is automatically his happiest day. but he supposes that’s where you’ve drawn the line, and he’ll have to be okay with that.
joshua’s restless through his chem lab this morning, and then his english lecture, and then his shift at work, not-so patiently awaiting you to ask him about his plans tonight.
but you don’t text him at all on monday, and you don’t text him on tuesday, either. he catches you going into your apartment at the same time he’s leaving on wednesday, and he waves as usual but you just give him a small nod and hurriedly close your door behind you. he’s almost positive you’ll text him on thursday, but your lunch hour comes and goes without a word.
he almost never texts you first, because you text him so often and most of the time he’s already thinking about you anyway. so when sunday rolls around again and he still hasn’t heard anything from you, he thinks maybe you’re waiting for him to say something first this time.
he knows you’ve been home, because he’s heard your friends coming and going. maybe you’ve just been busy with other things and didn’t mean to ghost him. sure, you get together pretty often, but that doesn’t mean it’ll happen every single week. plans change and that’s fine, and it is right before finals week after all.
but even when you’re on your period and aren’t in the mood to see him, you usually send a text as a heads up, and he’s definitely not keeping track or anything but this week shouldn’t be one of them. he’s going through every possibility he can think of as to why you’ve seemingly disappeared, but he just can’t find a reason why.
but then he realizes something else; he’s stopped hearing you at night, too. and then he really starts to worry, because he remembers how upset you looked when he saw you in the hall and maybe something really awful happened to you and he’s been pouting in his room like a selfish idiot this whole time.
so he pulls up your contact, cursor blinking over the text box as he tries to figure out what to say.
hey, he decides on, and he’s surprised but happy when you read the message right away.
he waits a moment, but you don’t respond, so he texts again. you can talk to me, you know? about other stuff. i’m your friend.
he shakes his head and deletes that last sentence before pressing send. you read it immediately again, but it’s a long and agonizing few minutes before you reply.
okay
he frowns, not knowing what to say back. did i do something and make you mad? you seem upset and i’m sorry.
it’s nothing. don’t worry
joshua wants to say, but i do worry, but he knows that might be too far and he’s still not even sure what’s wrong.
so instead he stands up and walks out his front door, leaving his phone on his bed. he may be an idiot, but the least he can do is try to act like your friend.
you don’t answer when he knocks, so he calls your name. “i know you’re home, i can hear you through the wall.”
finally the lock clicks, and you open your door just a crack. “what do you mean, you can hear through the wall?”
he pauses. “i can hear you… walking around, and stuff. making noise. the walls are thin.” so you really didn’t know? oh god, now he feels like an asshole for listening, even if he was trying not to.
“oh. well.” you sigh and close your eyes, inhaling. “that’s embarrassing.”
“can we talk?” joshua asks, suddenly feeling exposed. he’s plenty comfortable in large groups of people, but when he’s around you he wants to hold you tight and keep you secret and safe, out of sight of any wandering eyes. standing out in the hallway where anyone could hear is not how he’d like this to go.
“sure,” you mumble, swinging your door open for him to come inside.
you close the door but don’t move from behind it, standing like you’re waiting for him to say something. so he does.
“listen. i know whatever this is, is messy,” he starts, gesturing between the two of you. “but you’re my friend, and i care about you and i want you to be happy.” he sighs. “so please tell me what’s wrong, because not texting you has been really weird, and if you want to end this then that’s fine and i’ll leave you alone, but don’t just ghost me. we’re still neighbors and i’m not a fan of awkward hallway conversations.”
you crack a smile for a second, but it quickly fades. “do you want to end this?”
“no, not really. but i don’t want you to feel like you have to keep doing this if you don’t like it.”
“i thought it was pretty obvious i did like it,” you say with an almost laugh.
he stares at you quietly. “then what’s going on?”
“i want to keep doing this, but i just… i don’t think i can,” you say, avoiding his eyes. “at least not like this.”
“what do you mean, ‘like this’?”
“joshua, because i like you. and i feel awful because i know we’re not on the same page and it feels like i’m taking advantage of you because you probably have a dozen other women telling you the exact same thing and it’s probably exhausting and it’s not what you want!”
his face contorts in shock at your words. “well, first, that’s not at all true. and second of all, stop trying to guess what i want without just talking to me. what is it that you want?”
“you! i don’t know. i don’t know what i want anymore,” you say, covering your face with your hands.
joshua’s not sure if he should hug you or not, but he really, really wants to. “is that all that’s been bothering you this week?” he asks softly.
“yeah,” you say, moving your hands but still avoiding his eyes. “it’s stupid. i know, and i’m sorry.”
he laughs, and you look up at him like he’s crazy. “you don’t have anything to be sorry for,” he says. “i’m sorry. because for months i’ve been wishing we could change this but i never said anything because this is what i thought you wanted.”
you keep staring at him, but he can’t read the emotion on your face. “so… what is this, then?”
“i’ll be whatever you want me to be for you. your fuck buddy, or your friend, or your boyfriend, whatever.”
“you really don’t see other people?” you ask, still unsure.
now it’s joshua’s turn to look at you like you’re crazy. “no, why would i want to? i don’t care if you do, but with how often you text me it sounds like you don’t, either.”
“i just figured— nevermind,” you sigh.
“can i give you a hug?” he asks after a minute. “we’ve been sleeping together the whole semester, and i don’t think i’ve ever given you a real, proper hug.”
you smile, and seeing that instantly makes his day. “yes, please.”
his arms feel secure around you, and his chest is warm against your cheek. with a sigh you close your eyes, breathing in the smell of his cologne that you’ve been trying to push out of your brain for weeks.
you stand there for a while, neither of you making any moves to pull away. it's been a really, really long week without joshua and you didn’t realize how badly you missed him until this moment.
“so about the walls thing—”
“hm?” he mumbles.
“—you can really hear everything?”
he laughs. “oh, yeah. your bedroom is right next to mine. been having trouble sleeping for so long because i kept hearing you moan my name and it got me hard every time.”
your cheeks burn in embarrassment. “joshua, i’m so sorry! if i had known—”
he shakes his head, cutting you off. “you can make it up to me by telling me everything you were thinking about.”
“probably nothing you don't already know,” you grin shyly.
“probably, but i wanna hear you say it anyway.”
you lean away from him a little bit, releasing your arms from around him to rest against his chest. “i should've known this is why you wanted to come over,” you say, pretending to be mad, but you can already feel the tingling feeling building up in your stomach at the thought.
“it's not,” he replies smoothly, “but i did miss waking up to you knocking on my door.”
you pout. “that was only that one time!”
“doesn't mean it has to be the last.”
heat creeps up into your cheeks and you glance away from him, gaze trained on his shoulder.
“you really wanna know what i was thinking about?” you ask, finally building up the courage to look back up at his face.
“of course i do.” his eyes are sparkling as he watches you, and you can't exactly identify the emotion but you know it makes your heart flutter.
“well,” you start, “it was different every time, but most of the time it started like this.” you trail your hands down his torso, pausing when they reach his hips. he stays silent, eyes fixed on your movements and a little smile on his face that you don't think he even realizes he's doing.
“and then…” you look down, a little surprised to notice the bulge in his pants already there. you place your hand over him gently and look up, waiting for him to say something, but he doesn't stop you.
you clear your throat and start again. “and then, you'd sit on the couch and let me gag on your cock for a while.”
you start to push on his hips, backing him into your living room. he’s enjoying this way more than he should be, but then again, you basically just confessed your love to him so it’s kind of the best day of his life.
the back of his thighs hits the arm rest of your couch, but before you can move him any further his hands pull you flush against his body, his bulge pressing into your stomach.
“how about we skip that part for another day?” he says, his voice low. “tell me what happens after.”
you try your best to hold back a moan, suddenly losing your ability to speak. you can practically feel his cock throbbing through his clothes and it makes it impossible to come up with a coherent sentence.
“don’t get shy on me now, baby,” he hums, hands still firmly gripping your hips, and if your brain hadn’t short-circuited already then it definitely has now. “been hearing you in your room for weeks, i know how loud you like to be.”
“that’s not fair,” you finally manage, still trying to collect your thoughts.
joshua leans forward to kiss your neck, gently at first but quickly growing harsher, and you’re sure he can feel your pulse jump every time his teeth graze your skin.
“fuck, just like that,” you whimper, “exactly like that, shua—”
after a minute he hums and glances up at you through his lashes, clearly waiting for you to keep talking.
“we’d make out for a while, and then you—you’d fuck me on the floor,” you gasp out. joshua moans against your skin, and it’s only then that you realize your hands have found their way to his hair, tugging on it to urge him on.
your fingers loosen and he pulls away, the corners of his lips wet with saliva. “on the floor? you deserve better than that, baby,” he tsks. “can i take you to bed instead?”
“please,” you whine softly, suddenly feeling unbearably eager to fuck him. all week you’ve been using every last ounce of your energy to avoid thinking about joshua, but now that he’s here in front of you and way too willing to play into your fantasies, all the emotions you’ve been holding in are spilling out, and you don’t feel like containing them anymore.
you grab his hand and it’s like you can’t make it to your room fast enough, falling onto your bed and pulling him down on top of you. by then you’ve both forgotten the conversation you were having before because you’re too busy desperately pressing your lips against his, barely remembering to breathe as he kisses you and kisses you and kisses you and what were you even talking about again?
your brain is clouded when he finally pulls away with a gasp, kissing your cheek and your neck once more. his hands slip beneath your shirt and tug it over your head, making his way between your breasts and down your stomach and leaving more kisses as he goes. your skin burns with each touch, gentle lips and not-so-gentle hands covering every inch of you until you feel like your whole body is on fire.
he sits up just long enough to pull his own shirt off and now it’s your turn to touch, your hands instantly finding his chest as you trace your fingertips down his abs.
“how do you want me?” joshua groans, his hands joining yours at his hips to help him push his pants to the ground.
“fuck… missionary? just like this?” you say as you kick your pants and panties off in a rush, wrapping your legs around his waist.
his cock brushes against your stomach and you sigh out a moan, your hands moving up to grab at his biceps. he doesn’t say another word as he runs his tip through your folds, his attention fixated on your pussy and how you’re already dripping for him. for a second he forgets where he is and what he’s doing, so engrossed with the sight of you and how fucking glad he is that he didn’t lose you because you’re both idiots that assume too much about what the other wants instead of communicating your feelings like normal adults.
you let out a little noise and his eyes flick back up to your face, his gaze immediately softening at the blissful expression on your face. to think, he could’ve been seeing you like this the whole time if he had the balls to admit how he felt sooner. but there’s plenty of time for him to pout about it later because right now you need him, and he needs you, too, so why waste time thinking about that when he can think about how good you look taking his cock?
he leans down because he can’t resist kissing your beautiful face one more time, and finally he pushes into you, letting out a loud whine at the same time you moan his name. the sound of your voices joined together goes straight to his dick as he pulls almost all the way out, thrusting back into you with renewed energy.
“baby— fuck,” he groans, his grip on your body tightening as his thrusts begin to grow faster and rougher. “so good to me.”
you clench hard around him at the nickname, clinging onto him as you squeeze your eyes shut.
and then without warning everything hits you all at once, and you go boneless in his arms as he whimpers and groans and gasps and holds you tight and he probably told you he loves you about a million times as he was cumming too but you can’t hear anything as you lay exhausted on the bed, staring up at the ceiling with your ears ringing.
even with his shaking hands you can still feel the gentleness in joshua’s touch as you start to come back down, the warmth of his breath on your cheek as his fingers lightly brush your hair out of your face, feeling him twitch inside you before he slowly pulls out.
with his own orgasm following just barely after yours that was probably some kind of record for the fastest round ever, but you don’t even have the strength to care. so what if he usually fucks you for hours on end? all you care about is the fact that he’s tracing your collarbones with a fucked-out little smile on his face and it’s probably the cutest thing you’ve ever seen in your entire life.
with a soft grunt he stands up, and you call out his name with all the energy you have left.
“joshua?”
“mhm?”
“can you stay?” you ask, and somehow you both know you’re talking about more than just for the next few minutes.
he smiles. “wouldn’t wanna be anywhere else.” and when he comes back with a towel and a wet wipe and apologizes for how fast it all was and promises to give you more whenever you want because he’s officially yours now, you know he’s telling the truth.
even when he’s doing nothing at all, joshua never fails to make your head spin.
laying in the dark with you, his fingers absentmindedly twirling your hair as you snuggle into his chest, you can’t even begin to find the words to explain how good it feels knowing he loves you and you love him back.
but it doesn’t seem like he needs words right now. all he needs is you.
i hope you enjoyed this!! if you did, consider reblogging or leaving a comment or an ask :) it shows me this is something people want to see more of, and knowing people like this makes me want to write more of it! thanks for reading!!

AITA for asking my gf's son not to call me dad?
I (22M) have been dating my gf (24F) for 4 years now. She has a 7 year old whose dad isn't in the picture anymore - he hasn't been since the kid was born. My gf says he was abusive and I think there are some charges against him but as far as I know, nothing was proven. He has other kids too who he does have a relationship with but he doesn't have custody rights with my gf's son so they hasn't been allowed to have a relationship.
My gf and I live together and are both in college. I am going to be a surgeon and she wants to study science but she hasn't decided what to do with it yet. Because we're both busy with that, her son doesn't live with us full time. He stays with her parents during the week. This means that we have to dedicate our weekends to looking after the kid. I didn't really mind this at first but her parents are really pushing for her to look after him during the week now too, which we don't have time for. I hear how that doesn't sound great but the plan has always been that her parents will take care of the kid until she finishes with school. She has classes for 4+ hours from Mon-Thurs, plus she needs to spend a few hours studying every day, then she has labs on Friday for most of the day. I have classes all week for fewer hours each day but next semester I'll probably be doing an internship so I'll have more work to do. Then we pick up her kid on Friday evenings and spend the whole weekend with him. There's hardly any time for us to spend time alone together. I like her son and he's usually fun to have around but both of us are obviously stressed from having no down time so most weekends my gf and her son get into an argument or something and things escalate. I try not to get involved when that happens. Sometimes my gf and I are the ones who end up arguing and in that case, I usually go to my parents house.
Basically, I'm not super involved with the kid. Her parents want us to spend all of our free time on parenting despite originally agreeing that it was better if my gf focused on school. He has a dad who could probably be more involved but my gf and her family don't want him around. I've suggested that maybe it would be a better solution for her son to live with his dad full time, that way she can focus on school and then her career and still have time for herself and for us. I love her but she doesn't really have maternal instincts and she doesn't actually want kids, she has said a lot that she regrets not giving him up for adoption.
Recently, we were out for dinner with my gf's sister and kid, and the kid called me his dad. He's done this a lot and usually I just kind of ignore it, but no one else corrected him this time and I felt like the kid deserved the truth. I asked him then and there not to call me dad because he has a real dad who probably wouldn't like it. He didn't seem upset by it but my gf's sister lost it. She thinks I don't want the kid around and that I'm the reason my gf doesn't spend more time with him. She also thinks this was the first time my gf's son heard about his bio dad. Total conjecture, but she won't hear my side of it. The kid knows I havent been around since he was born so he obviously knows someone else must be his dad. I told my gf I don't think it's fair to let the kid call me dad when he has a real dad out there and she sort of agrees. She told her son not to call me dad anymore and they had a long talk about it. She still doesn't want the real dad involved but that's a whole other battle.
Here's why I think I might be the asshole: I said this to the kid in a moment of annoyance, which probably wasn't the way to bring it up. Like I said, he didn't seem upset by it but I wasn't there for the longer conversation so I don't know exactly. I think he's old enough to be allowed to know about his real dad in a more serious way. It's kind of messed up that he could run into his dad in the street (we live in a pretty small town) and wouldn't know it. I'm not his dad and for the foreseeable future, I won't be responsible for him as a parent because he still lives with his grandparents. I think it's reasonable to say that he shouldn't call me dad. So, AITA?

Mad Season 3
Warnings: non/dubcon, social anxiety, chronic illness, and other dark elements. My username actually says you never asked for any of this.
My warnings are not exhaustive but be aware this is a dark fic and may include potentially triggering topics. Please use your common sense when consuming content. I am not responsible for your decisions.
Character: Bucky Barnes, Peter Parker
Summary: a class project gets messy. (short!reader)
Note: happy weekend.
As usual, I would appreciate any and all feedback. I’m happy to once more go on this adventure with all of you! Thank you in advance for your comments and for reblogging ❤️
“Hey, how’d you get in?” Peter rushes in, a tray of drinks in hand.
You pop up on the stool, broken from your trance. Uncertain what else to do, you spent much of your time trying to distract yourself with his schematics. You twist to face him.
“Um, Bucky,” you answer and cringe at home dumb you sound. “He helped.”
“Bucky? Helpful?” He nears and puts the cardboard tray on the table, “I guess he can be.” He picks at the edge of the tray, “I got you a blueberry matcha. The place I hit didn’t have strawberry in season anymore.”
“Oh, sounds... interesting, but you--”
“Didn’t have to. I know, you always say so but I felt bad for being so late. I told may to get an airtag for her wallet. She can be so--” he stops himself and chuckles. “It’s whatever. She’s got a lot going on.”
“Mhm,” you accept the cup he offers. “I was just looking over the plans. I think we could probably just go with yours. Makes more sense.”
“What? Oh, no way,” he takes his iced whatever. It just looks like layers of sugar and cream. “I think we could easily bring together both. Take some of your features and mine. I don’t want to take over.”
“Yeah, but...”
“But nothing. Really. It’s a team project, not my project,” he insists as he hops up on the stool next to you, “so,” he swipes his hand in the air and a holographic screen appears. You flinch. “Let’s compare and redraw.”
You gape as another floating rectangle appears before him. No wonder his look so much better than your Paint hack job. You want to sink down and disappear. You always figured you’re not interesting enough to be his friend but now you’re certain you might be too stupid and poor for him too.
“So, I’m going to get logged in...” he mutters.
“Um, Peter?” You murmur, “are you sure you wanna be my partner?”
“Why... wouldn’t I?” He hovers his hand before the screen as he looks at you.
“I dunno. I don’t... I don’t have much to offer. Not a lab, not all these cool computers...”
“Oh this? No, it’s not—it's not a big deal. Dude, I'm so lucky Mr. Stark is letting me use this. I’m not ignorant, you know? I just thought it would be easier. I don’t think your roommates like me much and mine are so loud.” he explains as he lowers his arm, crossing both over the table as he leans on it. “Do you not want to be my partner?”
“Nnnooo,” you drag the word out. “No, I do, but I want to contribute to and I don’t know how to use any of this.”
“That’s cool. I’ll show you.”
“Um, okay,” you nibble your lip sheepishly. “I guess...”
“Did you try the tea? Is it good?” He changes the subject. He does that a lot. Pivots around before you can finish your thoughts.
“Not yet,” you look down at the bright pink lid, “where did you get this?”
“Some place called Berry? I don’t know. Everything was bright. You’d hate it,” he laughs again. “Oh,” he snaps his fingers as you blow into the lid cautiously. “Before I forget, I’m having a party. I know it’s not really your thing but it’s ‘my turn’,” he makes quotations with his fingers, “and I don’t really wanna but I also thought I'd invite you in case you wanted to not be there with me, too.”
Your blink in surprise, “a party?”
“I know, too much. Well, I didn’t wanna leave you out.”
“Mmm,” you drone nervously. It is really nice of him to think of you and after everything else, you hate to say no. “No one ever invited me to a party.”
“No?” His brow furrows, “really?”
You shake your head, “I’ll come. Yeah. I’ll try. You know, it’s college and ...” you take a sip and clear your throat, “should I bring a dessert?”
He laughs and gives you a playful grudge, “wow, I don’t think I’ve ever had anyone ask me that except my aunt’s friends. Nope, you can just come as you are. You can always bring some drinks for yourself but I’ll have more than enough to share.”
“Oh, okay,” you nod.
“The tea good?” He asks again.
“Yeah, sweet,” you put the cup down.
“Awesome!” He grins. “I really didn’t think you’d come. I’m so excited.”
“Really?” You ask.
“Well, duh. You’re so fucking cool. Like all my other friends, they try so hard. It’s all ‘let’s go do shots’ or ‘watch me do this dumb shit’. You don’t even try, you’re just you. It’s like people don’t realize they can just be nice and be cool for just that.”
“I... yeah,” you don’t know what to say.
It’s like he’s calling you boring but not. You know you are and you don’t mind but you can’t ever remember when you just felt like everyone else. Where you weren’t the odd one out. Despite trying to include you, Peter still manages to push you to the edges.
You wince as you notice how he stares at you. You fidget and pick at the button on the front of your corduroy skirt. His eyes flick down to the nervous movement.
“I like that,” he reaches to touch the ridged fabric, “blue. Oh, thick.”
Your leg twitches in surprise, “uh, yeah... found it at the student thrift shop.”
“Really?” His fingers brush over the hem and touch your coloured tights. They linger for a moment before he pulls away. “Cute. I’ve never been there.”
“It’s not bad...” you cross your legs as you knee tingles from his touch. That was strange.
“Well, anyway,” he waggles his fingers as he turns back to the table, “uh, where was I?” He squints at the screens and taps in the air. He pauses and looks at you. “Here, I’ll show you how it work, alright?”
He reaches over again and you brace yourself. He grabs the underside of the stool seat and drags you closer. He it so easily, you gasp. He’s a lot stronger than he looks. He slides his hand around so his arm is diagonal around your back.
“Right, so...” his shoulder presses to you as he points with his other arm, “you can just use your finger. I’ll have to add your prints to the program. Put your hands up.”
You obey as he stays close. You’re overly away of it. The way he’s pressed to you. He doesn’t seem to notice at all. You try not to think of it and focus on his instructions. The project. That’s why you’re here.

The girls brought their boys to the Oh Boyz reunion concert.
"Ron, grab that USB before Drakken can install it into his doomsday device" "On it KP!" Ron tries to get to the work desk and trips slamming face first onto the surface causing office supplies to fall all over the place. Drakken runs over and grabs one of the two scattered -almost identical looking- USBs and plugs it into the device "HA! I'll take that, thank you! And now, behold the power of--" "HEY IS THAT 'I WANT IT MY WAY'?!" "Errr... No, it's not what you think--"
Shego and Kim pause their battle, watching the two men go from bickering to singing in no time. Turns out this doomsday device can double as a mega surround sound stereo speaker instalation set.
Ron starts talking about how they saved the Oh Boyz once and that Rufus is their new manager.
Kim thinks and offers a deal "If you hand us the USB, you two can come with us to the Oh Boyz reunion concert." "DEAL!" Shego almost hurts her neck when she snaps her head in Drakken's direction "WHAT?! HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MIND?!" Drakken picks up the USB from the ground and hands it to Kim, he waves the two teens off.
The moment they leave the lair, Shego grabs Drakken by the collar. "Do you have any idea how annoyingly tedious it was for me to get that stupid USB for you?!" "Up-pupup Shego, I did in fact make a backup this morning" "You wha-?" Drakken opens the desk drawer to reveal hundreds upon hundreds of identical looking micro SD chips. "Now if you can help me find out which one of these chips contain-- Shego?" Shego slams the lab door closed behind her.
"Shego? What a coincidence!" Junior lays down on the sunchair next to her. "Junior? What are you doing here in Middleton of all places? Don't you have your own, I don't know, indoor house spa?" "Ah yes, but my lovely girlfriend Bonnie has cheerleader practice right now and I thought, why not broaden my horizon -like they say- and try out the spas of the common folk. You look upset, what's on your mind?"
Shego regretfully tells Junior about what happened this morning and Junior, in his excitement, almost instantaneously heads over to school.
Junior begs Kim and Ron to please bring him and Bonnie along with them to the Oh Boyz concert. "BUT WE WERE GOING TO THE CARIBBEAN ISLANDS FOR THE WEEKEND JUNIOR! YOU'RE SO RICH, YOU CAN EASILY BUY THE OH BOYZ FOR A PRIVATE CONCERT!" "But my darling! I want to experience the real pop idol experience! I need to know what it is to be amongst the fans, so I can understand what it feels like to them. That way I'll become a more understanding teen pop idol sensation! It's like, what you call it; homework, yes?" "Ugh... FINE! Alright Kim, you take care of everything, we'll take care of transport. I am NOT going to go there by cab. "
And thus all six of them ended up at the concert.
The boys: absolutely starstruck (Drakken eventually gave up on finding the chip.)
The girls:
- Bonnie doesn't like being amongst 'common folk', sure she would've loved this a few months ago, but now that she's dating one of the richest guys in the world. This has become dull.
- Kim pulled some strings with Rufus, asking for a favor to make this night unforgettable for the guys.
- Shego is confused as to why the Oh Boyz songs sound oh so familiar to some other boyband she used to hear on the radio when she was in college.

Is It Casual Now?
12!Donnie x Reader
(Friends-to-Pining-Idiots)
AN: wrote this on a whim bc I'm bored and am procrastinating. and also because we don't get enough friends-to-lovers fics lmao (also might make a sequel?). also might be ooc? idk
warnings(?): not alot, mild cussing?, might be a little ooc, mention of apritello but only brief,
_______________
It was a warm summer night...
Actually, who were you kidding? It was freezing. Okay, wait, maybe a bit of an exaggeration. It was still cold though, you stand by that.
"Want me to lower the AC? You look like you're dying."
"hrnn... But what about your experiment-thingy-thing? Wouldn't that like... affect it or something? Or was that the other one?" You ask, sniffling. Oh yeah, did you mention you were sick? Because you're sick. Sick as hell! Haha! haha...
No but seriously, you felt like you were dying. You bet it's not even that cold.
"Nah, don't worry that was the other one. It's in the freezer."
"Aw dude, Mikey might eat it or something."
"No he won't, there're like, a million warning stickers on that thing, he wouldn't—" You gave him a look,
"Crap." He ran out of his lab and went straight to the freezer.
Wait a minute, why were you here again?
Oh yeah, the project. And to hang out with Donnie, sure that too.
He came back with his experiment-thingy clutched in his arms. You sniff, "Dude—" "—Gross,"
"Shut up, anyway,"
"Why didn't you put it in your freezer? You literally have one right there." You pointed at the small metal box (that you're pretty sure he built himself) next to his desk.
"Because there's ice cream in there, and I don't want to share with my brothers."
"So what's your plan now?"
"What?"
"Should we like.. eat some of the ice cream to make room for your weird jelly-thing, orr..."
"Well I didn't think that far, sure, why not." He places the container down on his desk and takes out a small tub of vanilla ice cream.
"Ew, vanilla? that's so... Vanilla." You smile,
"Excuse you, that's for me. This, is for you." He says, taking out an equally sized tub of cookies and cream.
"Bro that vanilla has nuts in it, you like your ice cream with nuts? Ew."
"Oh nevermind, guess this is going back in the freezer," He takes the tub of cookies and cream ice cream and tries to put it back in his freezer.
"Wait, hold on, your honor I'm innocent!"
He chuckles, you smile.
"Shut up, dork, take the ice cream."
"Speak for yourse— Oh, oops, nevermind I forgot you had full control of my ice cream privileges."
"Mhm, yeah, that's what I thought."
He hands you a spoon and you notice a little red button at the bottom of it.
"What's this for?"
"For heating up the spoon so that we wouldn't have to wait like, half an hour to eat the icecream."
"God, that's such a good idea, you're a genius."
"Yeah, I know right?"
The two of you laugh as you both open your tubs of ice cream. Well, it was more of an attempt in your part. You eventually got Donnie to open it for you.
"Oh wait, my project... Whatever, it's the weekend, I'll do it tomorrow."
"And that's why you end up pulling all-nighters and get all grumpy on us when we talk to you on schooldays."
"Shh... SShhhut up. Eat your ice cream."
He chuckles.
It's quiet.
"Soo... How're things with April?"
And that is definitely not the way to start a conversation.
"Eh.. You know. The same it always is."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah."
And back to quiet. It's nice, but you wish it wasn't so awkward.
"..I should've given you soup instead. Giving you ice cream was a bad choice on my part." He stand up to take the ice cream (which was already a quarter finished, by the way) from you.
"Aww, come on Don. I can have the— ha..." You sneeze, "..have the soup later. After ice cream."
He snorts, "Come on," he gently puts the back of his hand on your throat, then your forehead.
"Oh damn, I did that as a joke, but you're seriously burning up. Yeah, no, I'm getting you soup."
You let out a whine of defeat as the tub of ice cream gets taken away from you, and hey, was it this cold before?
"I'll get you a blanket too. Why'd you even come here anyway?" He smiles a little, "And don't say that you needed help with your schoolwork. We already covered that like, a week ago? Get some rest, man." Before he leaves, he puts the experiment-jelly-thingamabob in the freezer.
"'Kay."
Why were you here?
Easy, you liked hanging out with him.
Why?
Because.
..Because?
Because he's fun to be around?
Might need to think deeper than that.
Who are you, my therapist?
You're literally talking to yourself.
Whatever. Because... I don't know, he makes me.. happy? that sounds weird.
Yeah. Keep going anyway.
This self analysis thing is getting weird.
And he's back. You smile.
"I got some hot chocolate too. Had to be quiet though." He covers the both of you with the blanket, and hands you the soup.
"Damn, you're cold too?"
"Yeah duh, turtles are cold-blooded."
"So you've said."
He leans back,
"You gonna finish your little experiment here?"
"Maybe. I'm tired."
"What time is it?"
"Uhh.." He checks his t-phone, "1:10 AM."
"Whatt... You're telling me I've been here for six hours?" It's fine, your parents were out of town. You liked it better here anyway.
"Also, I really don't think you should get that close to me dude. I'm, in your words, 'seriously burning up'."
"Ughh.. but you're warm. And I don't wanna get up." He dramatically lays his head on your shoulder, fake-snuggling up to you.
He gets a laugh out of you, he grins.
"I'm tired."
"Yeah, me too." Donnie yawns, pressing a button on his remote. Suddenly, the lights started to dim.
You let out a breathless chuckle, "When'd you install that?"
"A couple weeks ago. You said you didn't like how bright the lights were. So I made this remote to dim the lights, then I got distracted and made more options, then turned it into a slider... then just... booshhh... yeah."
"You remembered that?"
"Of course."
That's actually pretty sweet.
You smile at him. "Yeah?"
"Mhm. I'm gunna.... sleep. G'night."
"G'night."
And like that, he was out like a light. You just realized how close he was to you.
He's next to you, head basically on the crook of your neck. Both of you sharing the same thick blanket, with the empty bowl of soup that you didn't realize you had finished, and the half empty cup of hot chocolate.
And now, you start thinking to yourself,
Is there more to this?
No, you're just friends. Right?
But that tiny voice in your head that's getting increasingly bigger as the minute passes, is asking you:
Do friends do this for eachother?
Yes.
Are you sure?
What else could it be? What else could we be?
Do friends go out of their way to show up to your school in a disguise while it was pouring out to take you home?
He's just like that. He's nice, he's caring.
Do friends install fancy advanced remote-controlled lights just for you because you mentioned once how the lights were overwhelming?
..He's my friend. I'd do the same for him. Well, If I had the smarts.
But the difference is that you know how you feel.
Well.. Yeah.
Do friends leave lingering touches?
...
..Didn't he say he had a heater in here?

Summary: Y/n is a loner but loves ballet but her family doesn’t have enough money for her to dance at the studio, Daryl is a redneck who hates people and prefers bikes, until one day these two run into eachother and their lives change drastically, will Daryl toughen her up? Will y/n soften Daryl? Or both? How will things go when people start coming back from the dead
Pairing: Young Daryl Dixon x f!reader
A/n: This is going to be a series, it’s gonna start with how they met eachother and their lives before the apocalypse, eventually it’ll blend with twd story line!!
•Masterlist•
I’ve always wanted to dance, to strap on pretty pink ballet slippers and wear the tights and everything, ever since I was a little girl and first watch Swan Lake, watching how there was a light beautiful side but how also a dark side to a person it hooked me, but that dream was quickly crushed when my parents refused, saying they didn’t have enough money to put me in ballet because my older brothers football was more important and they couldn’t afford both at once
It’s always been like that, whatever my brother wanted he’d get within a reasonable price, but when I asked for the simplest things they would get mad and always turn me down, saying I should get a job if I ever wanted anything. So that’s exactly what I did, I got a waitressing job at the little diner in town, working after school and on weekends just hoping to be able to save enough for ballet classes, but balancing school and work everyday is exhausting and having a terrible home life ontop of that doesn’t help
My older coworker told me to make some friends and that might help things, help distract myself for a while and have a person to relay on for once but it wasn’t so simple, if you weren’t drop dead gorgeous, or had nice clothes and money in my school then the girls treated you like a ghost
So here I am sat at my usual bench under the wilting tree behind the school for lunch, sitting in the cafeteria all alone at a whole table felt pathetic, embarrasing, plus it was more comforting here, no pry judgemental eyes, plus the air out here smelt of fall, fallen crisp leaves, the towns forest right behind the school, it was comforting
I finished my lunch putting the book I was ready away in my bag and made my way back for my next class, biology and today we were getting a new seating arrangement, one I’ve been waiting for the whole month since I was sat next to one of the mean girls, I took my seat right as the bell rang
“Okay class today we are moving around, so find your spots” she said as she projected the new seating up on the board, I found my name at the second table to the back on the left, I made my way noticing I was sat with Daryl Dixon. He was quiet, usually kept to himself kind of like me, people would always talk bad about him but never dared say anything if his older brother was around, I remember the times my brother would complain about how obnoxious Merle Dixon was….as if he wasn’t the exact same
I plopped down next to him taking out my books and pencil case
“Hi”
“Hey” he said keeping his eyes on the table
That’s all we said to each other the whole period until the end of class
“Okay everyone, whoever you’re sitting with is now going to be your new lab partner, you’ll be working on this project together outside of class and it’ll be due at the end of next week, so I advise you figure out a time and place to work on this” she said as she handed out papers seeing it was a project on the cycle of frogs and their habitats
There was 10 minutes left in class for us to figure out how to get this project done, I turned in my seat looking at Daryl, up close I noticed he was actually kinda cute in a mysterious way
“Would you like to come to my house tomorrow so we can work on it?” I asked as tomorrow was Saturday
“Sure” I wrote down my address and gave it to him right when the bell rang
I was getting ready for Daryl to come over, I don’t know why I was so nervous maybe because I’ve never really had many people over and that my parents and brother were psychotic and mean and I didn’t want him to witness that. I looked in the mirror brushing out my hair that I’ve combed through a hundred times already, hoping my outfit was nice enough, a whiteish sweatshirt that had a hint of blush pink to it, paired with black leggings just wanting to be comfortable but hopefully still cute, that’s when I heard a knock at the door
“ILL GET IT!” I screamed not wanting anyone else to answer especially not my brother since he knew Daryl was Merle’s brother
I stood infront of the closed door huffing out a breath to calm my jitters, I opened it and there he stood, hands in pockets with his usual gruff demeanor
“Come in” I said stepping aside for him to come in
“Do you wanna work in my room?”
“Sure” he said as he kicked off his shoes
I lead the way to my room, it wasn’t a big house so it wasn’t like we had to go down hallways to get to my room, I closed the door when we got in as he dropped his notebook on my bed looking around my room which made me anxious, my walls had little framed photos of Swan Lake, little painting of ballet slippers, my room wasn’t much since my parents put so much into Jackson’s room but these photos were all I had to keep me happy
“Nice room” he said with a smirk
“You don’t have to lie” I said smiling as I crawled on my bed sitting up against the head board as he followed to sit at the foot of the bed
“I ain’t, it’s…..different, do ya dance?” He asked looking back to the pictures I adored
“No, I’ve always dreamed of it though”
He looked at me with a strange look I couldn’t read
“Well why don’t ya?”
“My parents won’t let me, said Jackson football is my important and will lead to something” I said shrugging my shoulders, if anyone could understand brother problems it would be him
His usual glaring eyes softened but I didn’t want the pity, I thought about my crushed dream enough I didn’t want to think about it more so I flipped open the text book to the section we needed and we got to work, it was silent for the most part and I welcomed it, until we took a break
“Merle says yer brother is always runnin his mouth, talks bad about ya” my heart thumped in my chest, Jackson could say anything about me and I’d have no way to deny it since no one really liked me and he had his whole football team full of guys who only thought with one thing
“What does he say?” I asked nervously
“Says yer a weirdo, says ya run around sleepin with every guy on his football team” my heart felt like it stopped and shrivelled up
“What……..I would never, I can’t believe he would say that, I don’t know why he hates me so much” I said as my bottom lip quivered try to control myself, not wanting to cry infront of him and make him uncomfortable
“Merle an I, we don’t believe ‘em……..plus it ain’t like everyone else in that damn school ain’t like that” he said looking back down at his note book, fidgeting with his pencil
“It would be better if I had friends that would believe me and be on my side” I said huffing a little sarcastic laugh
“I can be yer friend” he said so quietly I almost didn’t hear him
“You don’t have to pity me, I know you don’t like people” he looked back up at me with he glaring expression but for some reason it didn’t bother me
“I ain’t pitying ya, yer one of the few people that don’t annoy me at school, yer nice and keep to yer self” he said bluntly making my heart flutter
“Okay, I’d like to be friends then!” I said smiling as we both went back to work
After 2 hours of going back and forth working and talking we got the project done, I led him to the door standing there as he laced up his shoes, I opened the door as he stood back up
“So uhh, ya wanna hang out again tomorrow?” He asked gripping his backpack strap
“Sure, I have a shift at the diner in the morning but you can come by and we can eat there after I’m done, I get a discount!” I said excited
“Sounds good” he said about to leave before I stopped him
“Wait, here’s my number, it’s for my room phone so you can call anytime if you want” I said handing him a piece of paper with my number
“I’ll call ya later then, see ya” he said in his gruff voice as he left watching him disappear up the side walk
It was the next day and I was almost done my shift, I’d covered a lot of tables and was now just wiping down the counter waiting to see Daryl walk through the door, the door bell chimed and I looked up excited but instead it was Jackson and some of his football team members, they came in loud and obnoxious as usual
They came to the counter, filling three seats along the counter
“Jackson what are you doing here?” I asked putting down the rag I was using
“Oh come on sis we’re just hungry” he said sarcastically as his friends laughed with him
I sighed taking out my pad “well what do you wanted?”
“I wanna see you bent over my truck” his friend said, I was disgusted but I wasn’t good with this kind of thing
“Cute little thing like you mmmmm, what I wouldn’t do” his other friend said
I was beyond embarrased I just wish someone could help me, and as if my prayers were answered someone came in to intervene
“Leave er alone jackasses” I looked down to a seat further down the counter seeing it was Daryl, he must have just came in
“Oh ya and what’re you gonna do Dixon?”
“Just get outta here” he said sending a glare that could kill, they huffed and got up with a commotion
“Whatever, we’ll see you around bitch” they said to me before they left, I made my way to where Daryl was seated my face felt so hot
“Sorry you had to see that?” I said giving him a glass of water
“Do they do that often?”
“Ya usually when I’m working on the weekend, they think it’s funny”
“I can get Merle, set them straight” he said making me smile
“Nah it’s not your problem but thank you, I’m kinda use to it by now, even though it incredibly embarrassing” I said covering my cheeks
“Anyways, I’m done now so I’ll go clock out and be right back” I said trying to change the subject, I walked to the back taking of my waist apron and got my purse
“You done for the day sweetie?” My older coworker May asked
“Yeah, but me and my friend are going to have some lunch here”
Her eyes lit up “Friend? Did you finally manage to snatch someone up” she said twirling her pen as she smacked on her cherry gum she always had in her mouth
“Yes, he’s just easy to be around”
“HE?”
“Yes May my friend is a boy don’t get all crazy, but he’s waiting so I have to go before he thinks I left” I said blushing as I went back out and sat next to him at the counter
May took our orders and left to attend to the other few customers that were still here
“So why do ya work here?” He asked
“My parents said if I ever wanted anything I needed to get my own money, plus I’m trying to save to be able to afford ballet classes, it may be stupid but it’s my dream”
“It ain’t stupid, yer workin fer what ya want, I get that” his voice was kind but the grumble to it made me tingle
“Thanks, do you work anywhere?” I asked as May gave us our meals, my strawberry milkshake and grilled cheese, and Daryl’s coke with a burger and fries
“Sometimes I work on fixin people’s bikes ‘round town ta make some extra money, Merle said I’d make more if I did what he did but I don’t wanna fall into that crowd” I knew what Merle did, the whole town did
“Maybe one day we can get outta this town where people won’t judge us and we can have actual good jobs”
“Ya maybe”
With that we silently ate our food until we finished and May gave us our checks with my discount then we were leaving heading the door bell chime
We walked down to my house as neither of us had cars, until we stopped infront of the house awkwardly
“Lunch was nice, thanks for coming bye, you can come anytime”
“ ‘course, I’ll……I’ll see ya tomorrow then?”
“Ya I’ll see you tomorrow Daryl” I said smiling as we went separate ways, I closed the door to the house my heart thumping against my chest
I finally had a friend

Always Ever Only You Part 15 | Rooster x Reader
Summary: Bradley had some explaining to do. After the most perfect weekend, you were afraid he was trying to hide information from you again. But Bradley didn't hold back when he told you what happened and what he was concerned about.
Warnings: Angst, swearing, fluff, smut, mentions of cancer
Length: 4600 words
Pairing: Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw x Female Reader
This was written to accompany my series Is It Working For You? along with a bunch of my one-shots and other series, but it can be read on its own! Check my masterlist for the reading order. Always Ever Only You masterlist. Gorgeous banner by @mak-32
Your hands were shaky as you tried to call Bradley. You didn't understand what was going on, and you were pissed off that the first time you were hearing about him being involved with two people who were being court-martialed was through an email. You hated calling him when there was a chance he was in the air, but if that was the case, then his phone should be off.
Just as you were about to tap his contact in your phone, Bickel came rushing into the lab, arms full of folders. "Delete that email," he told you, out of breath. "The one from Yates. You weren't supposed to see it."
You looked up at him as you slid your phone down onto the counter. "Well, I did see it, sir," you whispered. "I don't even know what's going on."
"Neither do I," he responded gently, setting the folders down in a haphazard pile. "But I don't want your login credentials attached to this in any way. Whatever happened should stay out of your hands since your husband was involved with the special detachment. I'll take care of it. Understand?"
You started to nod, and then you said, "But, sir. Why am I getting emails from Admiral Yates?"
Your boss sighed and checked his watch. He looked frantic, and now you were really getting nervous for whatever must have happened during Bradley's deployment. But Bickel's words and the way he smiled kindly at you even though you could tell he was stressed out meant a lot.
"Because if you haven't noticed, you're second in command around here. Maybe not officially. Yet. But I rely on you for a lot of things, and everyone else in the group does, too. And your work is always spot on."
You felt tears prickle behind your eyes, and you had to look away from him as you muttered, "Thank you." But of course your eyes settled back on your computer screen and the email.
"Delete the email," he repeated, and you knew he wasn't going to say it kindly a third time. So you did as your commanding officer told you to and watched the email soar into your trash can, and from there you deleted it permanently. "I'll take care of it myself so you know it's done correctly. I will pull the comms and verify the coding so you don't have to question whether or not the information being sent over has been properly validated. I don't want you worrying about this right now."
"But you'll need someone else to verify everything with you, sir," you whispered.
He nodded and closed your computer softly. "I'm just on my way to talk to Lieutenant Coleman about it. She's more than competent. She and I can sign off on it and get it ready tonight. You're dismissed for the day."
And that was it. Not another word. He picked up the folders and walked over to where Cat was sitting in front of her computer wearing the expensive headphones that were used to occasionally play back communications and check aircrafts for audio clarity. And Bickel interrupted her. It was kind of an unspoken rule that you didn't interrupt someone who was wearing the state of the art headphones.
Cat jumped in her seat before giving Bickel her full attention. After a few seconds, her eyes met yours, and then she agreed with whatever he was telling her. You quietly stood and picked up your computer and headed for your office.
You were the only one in your group with a private office other than Commander Bickel himself. Sure, yours was roughly a quarter of the size of his, and it had a view of the parking lot and a brick wall, but it was yours. And you were his number two. You really wanted to be able to enjoy that fact, but you'd been dismissed. Probably so he could talk about the court-martialing. And you figured that by now, Bradley would be wrapped up in these proceedings as well.
You shoved all your stuff into your desk drawer and grabbed your keys. This morning had started off so beautifully: making out with your husband followed by an overpriced drink from Starbucks that he made sure was ready for you to pick up.
When you opened your door to leave, Cat was standing there about to knock. "Yes?" you asked her, feeling like everyone must know what was going on now besides you.
"I just wanted to catch you before you left," she replied slowly. "I read the email from Yates. I promise I'll double and triple check everything even if I'm here all night."
"Thanks," you whispered, hoping you could trust her with this. You felt like somehow Bradley's integrity was tied to that audio.
Cat fiddled with her hands as she said, "It's my job, but you're also my friend." And then she turned on her heel and walked away so quickly, you couldn't really respond if you wanted to.
When you stumbled out of the elevator in the lobby, Jake was right there. "Have you seen Bradley?" you asked him, but he gathered you up in his arms and started to dance and spin you around in front of the main entrance.
"Sure haven't. He's been locked away with Maverick all afternoon. Phoenix and Bob, too," he replied easily. "But guess who's going out with Cat tonight. Just take one guess, Angel."
"Oh," you gasped as he dipped you. Then you pressed your lips together, afraid to tell him that Cat and Commander Bickel would probably be verifying codes for the next several hours at least.
He pulled you back to standing as he said, "Hang on, that's my phone." Jake pulled it out of his pocket and read the text message he received. "Shit. Cat cancelled on me."
"Jake-" But you stopped. You knew you shouldn't be talking about the special mission apparently gone wrong, but he looked so disappointed. He'd been wanting to go on an actual date with her for months, not just making out in the rec room.
When he spoke, his voice was bland and monotone. "She's blaming it on working late. Meanwhile it looks like you're leaving early, so I'm not buying it." Then he laughed sardonically. "I was going to take her to a movie tonight, and then on Friday I was hoping Jeremiah could tag along on another date. I found a kid-friendly restaurant for dinner."
When you reached for his hand, he just shook his head. "Jake. Don't get upset with her, okay?"
He ran his hand through his hair as he walked away. "I need to get back to the hanger. Later, Angel."
You hated today. You wanted answers, and then you wanted to go to bed. And it annoyed you that you still wanted Bradley to read you to sleep from his notebook when he was the one who hadn't given you any details about his deployment, even though you had asked. Multiple times.
When you pulled your car into the driveway, you realized Bradley wouldn't be home for at least an hour. You wanted to act normal about this and start making dinner or doing something productive, but you were starting to wonder if he was hiding information from you again, just like the sperm test results. And that was enough to make you lose your appetite. You hurried inside, and Tramp followed you to the couch where you sat and took some deep breaths. The realization that you should have just stayed on base and had a discussion with Dr. Genevieve washed over you, and you were afraid you were going to cry.
You wrapped your arms around Tramp and waited, and it actually didn't feel like too much time had passed when you heard the Bronco pull into the driveway. When the front door opened, Bradley looked surprised to see you.
"You're home," he said softly, closing the door behind him. When you just nodded and clung to Tramp, Bradley pressed his lips together. "I take it you heard about the....mishap?"
"Mishap?" you asked, finally scrambling to your feet as Tramp ran to Bradley. "That's what you're calling it? All I know is that I asked you all weekend to tell me about your deployment, but you didn't. And then today I got an email with your name and credentials listed underneath a docket number for two officers who are being court martialed."
Bradley bent to pet Tramp without taking his eyes off yours. "You're right. You did ask me several times, but Sweetheart, the weekend was so perfect. I didn't want to ruin it by talking about work."
You rubbed the heels of your hands against your eyes. "You were gone for eight weeks, Bradley. That's not the same as discussing a regular day at work. And clearly something absolutely insane happened! What are you trying to hide from me now?"
The rosy pink of his cheeks faded away as a look of pure panic filled his handsome features. "Nothing. There's nothing to hide. I just thought we'd talk about it today. I had no idea everything was going to blow up like it did."
You threw your hands up in the air, and you hated how shrill your voice sounded. "Is everything even okay?"
"Yes," he insisted, closing the distance to you and wrapping his arms around your body, enveloping you in his warmth. "Everyone who left the carrier deck made it back to the carrier deck."
Apparently you'd been holding your breath, because you were finally able to let it out. "Good," you whispered, burying your face in his neck. "That email made me feel physically sick."
"I'm sorry, Baby Girl," Bradley rasped next to your ear before kissing your temple. "If I knew everything was going to happen so fast, I would have taken some time out of the weekend to talk about it. But being back home with you and spending time as just us was really the only thing on my agenda."
You didn't stop him when he guided you toward the bedroom and started to unbutton and unzip you out of your uniform. And you let him pull his UVA shirt over your head and guide you into bed. And then you watched him strip down to his underwear before he picked up Tramp and climbed in with you. "Here's what happened," he said, pulling you close.
---------------------------
Bradley felt a little awkward detailing what went down in the air with Slayer for you. It was an odd thing to recount it to someone who wasn't an aviator, but you just held him tight and asked questions when you needed clarification. But the way you gasped when Bradley told you he was the spare made him feel somewhat validated.
"The spare? This Admiral Dean asshole named you the spare?" You went shooting up in the bed, indignation flashing in your eyes as you pointed at him. "You're not the spare! You're the main event. You'd never treat a mission like it was your own little game where other people's lives didn't fucking count for anything!"
Bradley could tell he was blushing as he said, "Nat and Bob were directly in danger when I got called to the catapult."
Now you were standing on your knees looking straight up furious. "What did you do?!"
He ran his hand along his mustache and whispered, "I just... dealt with it. I don't know. You know I don't like talking about air to air kills. Nat and Bob were leaking fuel to the point where I was convinced they wouldn't even make it out over the water before they had to eject. But Nat managed to land it on deck in spite of full engine failure."
"Full engine failure?!"
"Yes."
"And all of this happened because this Slayer person went way off course to attend his own rodeo or something?"
Bradley laughed in spite of himself. "Yes."
"Right. Right," you said, even though it sounded like you thought it was all very wrong. "And this Slayer child was allowed to be the fucking team leader because of Admiral Dean?"
"Yes."
You just shook your head at him, standing there on your knees with your hands on your hips. "A court-martial is too good for these fuckers," you said, your voice breaking as you lunged for him.
Bradley caught you in his arms as you burst into tears. "Don't cry. Everyone is fine."
But you were shaking in his arms as you tightened your hold on him. "I could have lost you, Roo... and like, I just know there was at least a small part of you that thought I didn't want this."
He kissed your cheek and whispered, "I knew you loved me. I knew my ring was safe with you. That was enough."
You pulled away from where you'd had your face pressed to the side of his neck. Tears were welling up in your eyes before sliding down your cheeks. "No, that's not enough. I love you more than anything. And you deserve to hear me say that to you."
Bradley gently rolled you onto your back and let his cheek rest on your shoulder as you cried. He wrapped one arm around your middle and tried not to crush you with his weight as you threaded your fingers through his hair. It felt so good, the way you were touching him and crying for him. "I'm right here," he told you, and eventually your breathing evened out.
"I can't believe spending the weekend in the bathtub with me was more important to you than getting all of that off your chest."
"Spending a weekend in the bathtub with you is more important than literally anything else I can think of," he promised, happy to hear you laugh. "But if we're being honest here, Sweetheart, when I got passed over for the mission and named as the spare instead... I'm having a really hard time coming to terms with the fact that I'm probably on the back end of my career as a pilot."
You were silent for a beat, but when you spoke, your fingers were still soft in his hair. "Who named the teams?"
"Admiral Dean."
"And have we not established that he's a mindless idiot who favors the aviators from Lemoore over everyone else?"
Bradley hadn't really considered that the hit to his ego and career should have been taken with a grain of salt. Perhaps there was something to be said for who was in charge of the mission details. "I'm still the oldest one around, compared to everyone at Top Gun and everyone from Lemoore," he murmured.
"Older, sure," you whispered. "But you're also more experienced. And more patient. And smarter. And you were able to tolerate being named the spare without throwing a fit. You're not on the back end of your career. Maybe it will take a different shape, but it's not ending."
Without another word, Bradley fell asleep on you while he thought about what flying meant to him, your touch calming him enough to do that without panicking.
-----------------------
You were so hungry now that Bradley told you what had happened. Your stomach was starting to growl, and you realized that you hadn't actually started anything for dinner. But Bradley was still dozing on you an hour later, his arm heavy across your belly where you pressed your fingers to the ink of his tattoo.
He must have been exhausted, dealing with all of this nonsense during his deployment and traveling across so many time zones. And yet he had made you feel so important all weekend, even attempting to make you breakfast. Giving you his undivided attention. Making love to you exactly how you needed it.
When he eventually started to stir, you felt bad that you didn't have anything ready for him to eat. He looked up at you, slowly easing himself into a push up position above you. "Sorry...how long was I out?" he rasped, grunting as he bent his elbows until his lips met yours.
"More than an hour," you whispered as he kissed you over and over again. "You must be exhausted."
"Nah, I feel great," he promised, climbing out of bed and pulling you with him. "Want me to make you some toast?"
"Please don't. I was thinking of just ordering something since I didn't get anything ready to cook." You briefly thought about Cat and Bickel and wondered if they were still working right now.
"Let's get a pizza," Bradley said, grabbing his phone. "It's easy and Tramp loves when you feed him the crusts."
Later, when you sat down on Bradley's lap with a slice of pizza in your hand, you laughed as Tramp sat on the floor begging. You tore off a piece of the crust for him while Bradley inhaled two slices stacked one on top of the other. You were just about to ask him if he'd read some more of his notebook to you when he reached for a third piece.
"Was thinking," he said between bites. "How about a bath before bed? And since you let me nap earlier, I could read until you fall asleep?"
You felt like you were on your honeymoon again where everything you did together just made sense. "You read my mind." And there was just something so good about his voice right now. Whether it was him sitting behind you in the tub or fucking you on the bathmat or leading you to the shower to get you cleaned up a second time, his voice in your ear was exactly what you needed.
"We do some of our best work in the bathroom," he whispered, thrusting into you slowly as your towel unraveled from around you.
"You say that about every room," you reminded him, letting him spread your legs wider as he nipped at your breasts.
"Only because it's true, Sweetheart."
You giggled in the shower, because fifteen minutes ago you'd been clean and then he came inside you. But you were yawning non stop by the time you climbed back into bed. You could barely keep your eyes open as Bradley picked up his notebook and opened it to a page you hadn't heard him read yet.
He wrapped one strong arm around you and cleared his throat. "Promise you won't get upset?" he asked you, holding the notebook just far enough away that you couldn't read it without your contacts or glasses.
"I mean, did you like write something really mean about me?" you asked, squinting.
"No," he said with a laugh. "But it's a full page about all the shit I do that I hate."
"I won't get mad, but that doesn't mean I have to agree with any of it."
He responded by clearing his throat again and reading.
"I was never planning on being married to someone. That's exhausting, right? Way too much responsibility. What if they decide they hate you and leave one day? Or die of cancer? Or what if I burn in? What are you even supposed to do then?
In an effort not to turn into either of my parents, I think I just gave up on the idea. My mom's engagement ring took up residence in a cardboard box in a storage unit for almost twenty years. I don't think I thought about it more than a handful of times, only occasionally remembering how pretty it looked when she wore it outside in the sunshine.
And then I met a woman, and suddenly the fact that I didn't know the exact location of that ring was very unsettling to me. Was it in a box with photos, pushed all the way against the back wall? Was it in a smaller box with my dad's diploma from the Naval Academy? Which box was it in?
These thoughts alternated between being paramount to my very existence and also quite laughable. She wouldn't want to marry me. I'd only known her a few weeks. She was perfect. Beautiful. Funny. Smarter than everyone else.
I second guessed myself even more than usual. And then the most peculiar thing happened. She accepted the ring right out of the cardboard box, and then she married me.
But I haven't been good enough.
And that is a fact that is worse than all my worst fears. It's worse than burning in. It's worse than dying of cancer. It's worse than being left behind. I can't stand the fact that she's too hard on herself because of me. That's fucked up. It makes me feel gross. I don't want a baby more than I want my wife. I just want my wife. I want her right now. I wanted her yesterday. I am going to want her tomorrow.
But two weeks ago when I made her think I didn't, that was probably the worst thing I've ever done. Because it didn't even occur to me how much I was fucking up. Congratulations, you failed. Stop doing it. Be better. If you even get another chance."
When Bradley turned his head to see if you were still awake, you whispered, "I didn't like that page as much as the others."
"I figured you wouldn't."
There were a million things you wanted to say to make him feel better. Share the blame for what happened. But he was proving to you that he had nothing to hide, and he was reading back his candid thoughts. And you never wanted him to stop. So you just kissed his neck and said, "Thanks for reading it to me. But now I want you to read my favorite page again."
He flipped back to find it, and you were asleep after about five words.
Your alarm for work came too early considering how cozy you felt in bed. If you could live in this moment a little longer, you gladly would. You felt warm and safe, and Bradley's first words of the day made you laugh. "I'll order you another overpriced coffee, but your new French press should be here today."
When you walked into the lab with your iced latte to find that Cat was the only person there, you gave her an awkward, "Good morning."
"Hi," she replied, stifling a yawn. She looked exhausted.
"How late were you here?" you asked her, feeling terrible that you weren't the one to put in all the extra hours.
She eyed you hesitantly. "Pretty late. Bickel told me I could come in at lunchtime today, but I didn't want to leave you hanging out to dry with the proposals from Annapolis."
"Thanks," you whispered. But then your heart rate picked up a little bit as you thought about what happened to Bradley. You blurted out, "I need to know what was in that audio."
Cat was instantly shaking her head. "You can't listen to it. Bickel said he doesn't want your login credentials anywhere near it. Could be a massive conflict of interest if you handled it in any way."
You looked down at your boots. "What was it like?"
She was silent for so long, you were afraid she wasn't going to tell you anything. When you turned toward your seat, she said, "It was hard to listen to. Your husband is a good person."
You kept your eyes on your workstation. "He didn't even tell me anything about it until last night."
"He didn't come running home from his deployment and tell you that he's actually a hero? Again? Bickel told me he seems to have a good head on his shoulders."
"No," you whispered, closing your eyes. "He came home and told me we'd talk about it later, because he missed me too much. And then he was good to me all weekend." Good was an understatement. But you did miss your French press.
"You know," Cat replied with a smile in her voice, "it is really hard not to hate you."
You turned to look at her over your shoulder. Maybe she figured you knew about Jake, and maybe she didn't, but you said, "You should reschedule your movie date."
The smile was gone from her face and her voice. "I think yesterday was a wakeup call. And canceling on Jake was probably in my best interest after all. I don't know what I was thinking when-"
"Stop making poor decisions," you snapped. "He found a kid-friendly restaurant, for fuck's sake. What more could you possibly want in a guy?"
"Nothing," she whispered.
Then you plugged your computer in and said, "Thank you for telling me about the comms. And thank you for staying late. And thank you for not leaving me alone to finish the proposals today. But for the love of god, Cat, reschedule the movie, okay?"
---------------------------
Bradley was expecting you to meet him for lunch in the cafeteria. He even managed to secure the table where you and he were sitting the first time he asked you out. Which was just going to be the cherry on top of his plans for the day.
Mav let him read the official court-martial documentation along with Nat and Bob. And then he had taken the time to write an official statement. And in about a month, he'd have to appear as a witness to what happened. The sad part was, it all seemed very cut and dry since this wasn't the first time Admiral Dean had shown unjust favoritism. Maybe you were on to something about why Bradley had been selected as the spare.
He heard your laugh before he saw you. It was that beautiful, overjoyed sound that was usually reserved just for him. In fact, he heard it last night when he had you underneath him on the bathroom floor, running his mustache along your pristine skin. But right now you had it aimed at his best friend, and he didn't really mind. You were hugging Nat like you were afraid she was going to vanish into thin air, and when you released her, Bradley watched you press a kiss to Bob's cheek before hugging him just as tight. Your cheek was pressed to Bob's chest when you met Bradley's gaze from a few tables away, and you smiled at him. Then you were headed his way.
"I got you a burrito bowl," he said, even though you could plainly see he had two on his tray. And instead of sitting down across from him, you took the chair right next to his and wrapped your hands around his bicep.
"Roo, do you want to go up to the hot sauce restaurant after work on Friday? Maybe recreate our first date? But instead of me not giving you a handjob on the pier, I totally could."
Bradley's jaw dropped. You somehow read his mind. You took his idea about getting back to basics in your relationship and made it both romantic and also horny enough that he felt a little uncomfortable in his uniform pants. And you had the nerve to sit there and look sweet and innocent as you squeezed a little packet of hot sauce onto your lunch.
"I was going to suggest the same thing," he rasped softly. "Minus the handjob. But I'm definitely down for the inclusion of the handjob."
You just smiled at him as you took a bite of your lunch, and your hand came to rest on his thigh. This was going to be a long week.

“So, I was just kinda minding my own business, y’know, thwipping and thwapping and going about being an awesome hero when I bumped into myself? Kinda. They looked like me, but they were different, and didn’t look like me, but, I knew they were me! Because my spider sense went off and they could do stuff I could do, but also some different stuff! And then we freaked out for a little bit before I went to auntie May to show her and she showed me four more other me’s who were hiding out in her basement and then we tried getting them home and we had to sneak about in this fancy restaurant wearing bow ties, and we cried and they went into this collider thing, also it turns out my favourite cousin was working for the evil genius corporation and he’s dead now and it feels like my fault, I’m so totally fine don’t worry about me. Howwasyourday?”
“Haha, what.”

“That’s excluding a lot of things I just told you but, I am telling Raph that, yes.”
Huge bone crushing hugs are in order, according to him at least. And I mean, is he wrong?
Not letting you out of his sight for ages, please, Raph, let them go home
“Why are you so worried? I did it, I won!”

“Heyyy Deee.”
“Stop. Explain. This better be your attempt at humor.”
There was silence for a long while after you had messily glued together words to describe the past 24 hours, before he took a deep breath.
“First, How dare you stop the multiverse from collapsing without me that’s incredible rude. Second, therapy. Third, that earthquake and power surge destroyed My Lab, thankfully I have backup backups to my backups, but I couldn’t use the internet for an hour straight.”
“Y- You’re more concerned about the internet?”
“Not what I said. Now let me check you for a concussion.”
MIKEY
“Hey they took down those art displays.”
“The what?”
“Oh you weren’t here, BUT there was these reaaaallllyyyyy cool art statues along this street! Look, hey, look, I took pics!”
“Oh cooollluuuhhh that’s not an art display that’s five different fire hydrants merged into each other.”
“Haha yeah it does kinda look like that doesn’t it? I thought it was supposed to be a dog.”
“Mikey, no-“ You pulled him aside into an empty alleyway, trying to explain what had happened over the past twenty four hours.
It was an interesting experience, but you got there eventually.
Best believe this boy is giving you the biggest hug ever, and then buying pizza.
Oh, and Dr Feelings is going to be paying you a visit. Multiple. You can’t escape him.
“So they weren’t art displays?”

Ok, one of those amazing prank shenanigans but it’s the Firsts and Zack, but they are all pulling an elaborate prank on Hojo for Seph’s birthday <3
The "Sephiroth's Wedding" Prank
Lazard is sitting at his desk while Sephiroth dials up Hojo's phone number for him. Angeal, Genesis and Zack are all standing around, watching as the phone starts ringing. Lazard presses it to his ear and waits for Hojo to pick up. On the fifth ring, the professor's grating voice answers.
Hojo: Professor Hojo speaking.
Lazard: Good evening, this is James from Bloomwood Event Planning. I'm calling on behalf of Sephiroth to confirm your presence at the wedding next weekend.
*There's a pause, Sephiroth has to slap his hand over his mouth to contain his snort*
Hojo: I beg your pardon? What are you on about, you imbecile? How dare you disturb me while I am working.
Lazard: You heard me correctly, sir. You were sent an invitation a month ago, and I'm calling to confirm your invite.
Hojo: My invite to what?
Lazard: Sephiroth's wedding, of course.
*There's another long pause. Zack has to leave Lazard's side so that he doesn't make any noise*
Hojo: Clearly there has been a mistake. There is no possibility that Sephiroth would ever waste his time on marriage, let alone copulate and breed with another being without my expressed approval.
Lazard: Am I to understand that you won't be in attendance? Is that what I should tell the couple?
Hojo: What couple?
Lazard: Ah, forgive me. The correct term is polycule.
Hojo:
*There's another incredibly long pause, Genesis is quietly laughing while Angeal shushes him*
Lazard: Sir? Sir, are you still there?
Hojo: Which individuals are involved in this⏤in this⏤filth?
Lazard: Why, Sephiroth is set to marry Genesis Rhapsodos and Angeal Hewley, of course.
Hojo:
Lazard: They're a very happy trio⏤
Hojo: How could he do this to me?
Lazard: Sir⏤
Hojo: His apparent attraction towards the same sex is useless on its own, but Hollander's brats!?
Lazard: Professor⏤
Hojo: It was the visibly homosexual one with the red coat who coerced him, wasn't it?
*Genesis sinks and curls into a ball on the floor, Sephiroth is in tears as he covers his mouth, Angeal is in the corner laughing, and Zack is grinning as he listens intently*
Lazard: I can assure you that they are very much in love, Professor. I'm fortunate enough o have gained their trust, making me privy to the extent of their dynamic.
*Sephiroth is quickly writing it all down for Lazard to read*
Hojo: You don't say.
Lazard: Yes, Angeal claims that Sephiroth is a very obedient and perfectly submissive partner.
Hojo: WHAT?
Lazard: He and Genesis take very good care of him. The last time they swung by my office to discuss some last-minute details, Sephiroth was on a leash.
Hojo:
Lazard: Sir, are you there?
Hojo: I'M HAVING A HEART ATTACK.
*Genesis, still on the ground, grabs Sephiroth's leg and makes Sephiroth lose it. He crouches to the ground too, laughing under the desk*
Lazard: Do you need me to call for emergency services?
Hojo: THIS ISN'T HIM. SUCH A POSITION IS BENEATH HIM. I DID NOT MAKE HIM TO TAKE ON SUCH AN APPALLING ROLE.
Lazard: No, no, I'm positive that it was him. They were here with their son.
Hojo: THEIR WHAT? WHO? THEY HAVE A CHILD? HOW?
*Zack starts frantically pointing at himself*
Lazard: Oh, you haven't heard? They formally adopted Angeal's mentee, Zack, and are now his parents.
*There's a loud sound of something falling from the other end, along with a commotion as multiple voices of lab technicians start speaking at the same time*
Lazard: Professor? Professor Hojo?
*The line goes dead*
Sephiroth: I think we killed him.

everyone but her pt.10
Summary: Coming back from winter break, Wednesday gets a surprise gift and decides to take her frustrating emotions out on whoever she can find. For better or worse, that opponent happens to be you.
Word Count: 4.1k Warnings: swearing, slight violence (fencing) Pairing: Wednesday Addams x Reader (Masterlist) Taglist: @extinctspino @basichextechml @cfvgbhndun-new-blog @jinxscatbomb @awolfcsworld @n0p35 @suzhiman @gengen64 @eclipsesmoonshine14 @asters-abditory @alexkolax @thenextdawn-backup @cacciatricediartemide @cozwaenot @the-night-owl-blr
Wednesday had not missed you.
Once coming back from break and seeing you wreaking havoc in school once again, Wednesday realised she had only truly missed the idea of you. Within one week you had managed to get weekend detention, nearly poisoned yourself in phyto, and set fire to the lab in chemistry. How on earth you managed to do all of those things in such a short span of time, she had no idea.
She was almost impressed.
Her novel was coming along effortlessly when you came into the room with Enid. Your wings, though tucked in tightly, were finally free of their harness. It was an oddity to see them out and about nowadays. Clearly you had been having a good time; you only ever let them out when you were in a positive mood.
“I still blame you for the fire,” you said, pointing your finger at Wednesday as you went to lay on her bed. She tried not to flinch when your wings nearly knocked things off her desk in the process.
“I am not to blame for your inability to mix chemicals.” Wednesday’s fingers had yet to still on the typewriter, no matter how closely you watched her.
She could feel your eyes on her as you started talking some sort of nonsense with Enid. Admittedly (only to herself) she was entirely focused on you in her peripheral. There had truthfully been no time to genuinely see you since school had started back up; it was like seeing you again for the first time.
Your hair was getting shaggy and you had noticeable bags under your eyes. Had you slept well over the break? You hadn’t told her about any problems - why would you? - but you looked thoroughly exhausted. There was a droop to your wings that gave away what your words wouldn’t.
All of Wednesday’s thoughts came to a halt when you looked at her and she made eye contact with you. Eye contact was something Wednesday was phenomenal with, she could hold it for hours at a time. But when she met your eyes, she felt frozen. She assumed it was how prey felt when it was being stared down by a predator. Unable to move or look away.
“Ooh, time for my date with Yoko and Divina!” Enid cheered, causing both you and Wednesday to jump. Well, you jumped, Wednesday just turned quickly to where Enid was gathering her things.
“Where are you going?” You asked; Wednesday just went back to writing her novel.
“Behind the greenhouse.” Enid sent you a quick wink that brought a smile to your face. It made Wednesday nauseous.
“Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do,” you told her as she left the room with a quick “bye!”
Just like that, Wednesday was left alone with you for the first time since she had helped you pack for the break. For the first time since you had been brave enough to kiss her on the cheek. Just the thought alone had her mouth going dry and her thoughts tumbling over themselves. She wanted to lean over and return the favour.
No. She had clearly spent too much time with her father over the break.
“So.” Wednesday’s fingers halted on the keys. “Last week was the 13th.”
“What of it?” Wednesday asked. But she knew what; she hoped you wouldn’t go there.
“I heard through the grapevine that the 13th is someone’s birthday,” you continued.
Wednesday had been determined not to look at you, but after hearing the ruffling and moving of your entire body on the bed, she couldn’t stop herself. Her chair spun around and she was faced with you, standing in front of her with a single wrapped package in your hands. It was simple black paper and almost looked like it had been wrapped by children.
Knowing you, it probably had been.
“I know you don’t really do birthdays,” you said as you held the package out a little further. “So consider it my late Christmas gift.”
Her eyes stayed on the package in your hands, doing her best not to look up at your face. There was the slightest shake in your fingers, something Wednesday had come to notice when you were nervous. While Enid rambled nonstop, your fingers and hands shook and you would give a nervous, crooked grin.
Your half-grin turned real when Wednesday took the package from you. It was a familiar weight, but she couldn’t place it. Almost like it was on the tip of her tongue. Her own fingers slid under the edge of the paper and pulled it open, careful as always. You took the paper from her and started folding it - when had you picked up on that habit of hers? - as she studied the gift.
It was a black leatherbound book. There was no title on the front, but a silver viper had been painted with a single golden vial within its coiled tail. When she looked at the spine, the words “Viper de la Muerte” had been delicately carved into it with the initial “W.A.” directly below. Her eyes shot up to where you were toying with the paper still in your hands.
“I copied your first manuscript and had my grandpa and Pop teach me how to bind it,” you said as you kept your eyes glued to the floor. “Alex and Hailey actually painted the front.”
Wednesday’s fingers traced over the painted cover, marveling at the details. Of course it had been painted by children, but it was still an adequate portrayal. She hadn’t met your siblings yet, but she could very well guess who had drawn what part. The delicate details of the viper and the rough lines of the vial gave it all away.
“I didn’t read it, though,” you said once Wednesday opened the front cover. “I’m a thief, not a prick.”
Her thoughts were running rampant as you continued to ramble on, your words going in one ear and out the other. A single piece of paper was slipped into the book, and as Wednesday looked at all the signatures and notes and well-wishes, she started to think.
How had you even gotten her manuscript in the first place? She kept it hidden, she wasn’t even completely convinced she had brought it to Nevermore with her. Then there was the part where you had bound the novel with stained leather. Was your family terribly adept at this type of thing? Book binding was an old world skill that most didn’t have.
“-so it was a team effort.” With a loud exhale, you finally stopped talking.
Wednesday had completely forgotten to pay you any attention as you had rambled on and on. The smallest amount of guilt settled in her throat, but she pushed it down. Nervousness had made its home on your face and you had yet to evict it. Has anyone ever told you the way the corners of your eyes squinted was rather attractive?
“You don’t have to like it,” you said. Why were you being defensive? “I just remember you saying editors can be assholes so now you have a bound book without them.”
She ran her fingers down the spine of the novel one last time before setting it down on the desk behind her. If you had attempted to quell the fear on your face, you had failed miserably. It only continued to grow when she stood up and walked closer to you. The fingers of her hand grabbed your tie and wrapped it around her palm; they were so close to your neck that she could feel you swallow.
It took only the slightest effort to pull you down until your face was level with hers. Being so close forced you to actually make eye contact with her. The proximity nearly made Wednesday change her mind; your face was far too close to hers. If she focused, she could see the slightest tremble in your bottom lip.
Before she could convince herself to let you go, Wednesday pulled you forward the rest of the way until she could leave a single peck on the corner of your mouth. Her own heart was pounding in her ears at how close to your lips she was, but it was too late to back out. Your entire body stiffened under her and she could feel your pulse racing under her knuckles.
Something buried deep in the back of her mind told her to move just a little further, your lips were only millimeters away. Just make the move, do what her inner turmoil has been begging her to do. But she bit her tongue and pulled away, releasing your tie and smoothing it back down before stepping back once again.
Your face was flushed. As was your neck. And your chest. And every other visible part of skin.
“Touch my manuscripts again, and detention will be the least of your worries.”
She didn’t give you any chance to defend yourself; she just sat back down in her chair and returned to her typewriter.
It was at least 10 minutes before she heard you move and finally leave the room.
—---
Fencing class. One of Wednesday’s favourite classes, if she was being brutally honest with herself. She couldn’t be entirely sure what it was about it that made it so appealing to her. Maybe it was the violence of the whole class, or the potential to best opponents and see the hope in their eyes disappear as they threw their helmets to the ground.
Or maybe it was simpler than that, and she just missed fencing with her father.
Today, though, she was on a mission. Since you had gifted her the bound manuscript a few days ago, she had been nothing but an emotional wreck inside. She had put it on her desk right beside her current works, but every time she looked at it she felt her pulse increase. When she would grab it to study it, her hands would shake ever so slightly. Every time she would look at the page with everyone’s signatures, her throat would feel tight and it became hard to swallow.
That didn’t even take into account the way her mouth went dry whenever she thought of how warm your skin had been underneath her lips. How soft your neck was against her knuckles, how all it would have taken was one brush of her fingers and you would have shivered beneath her touch. How her stomach twisted and turned at the thought that you were completely at her mercy when all she did was pull you down by your tie.
It was an unusual, uncomfortable feeling. To know that her entire day could be derailed because of something someone else had done. Other people’s actions rarely, if ever, influenced her feelings, her day, her thoughts. But there you were, there your family was, doing something that left Wednesday at a loss for thoughts.
She didn’t know what sick game you were playing, but she wanted to be around you all the time. On days where she could only see you during meals, or during classes, a rock settled in the pit of her stomach and made her feel ill. Or days where she didn’t see you at all, and her thoughts became jumbled or her reflexes turned jittery.
Whatever you had done to her, she was going to put a stop to it.
Luckily for her, that opportunity arose during fencing class. It was possible you had just gotten moved into the class; she hadn’t seen you in there before. You looked uncomfortable in the outfit, and you weren’t even wearing the jacket, just your uniform shirt and your harness. It was almost-
-no. She was here to make you pay, not fawn over you.
Wednesday did her best to ignore you as she walked over to one of the mats. You were leaning against the wall and talking with Divina, Yoko, and Bianca, your arms crossed over your chest. Were you attempting to sit out the whole class? That would be ridiculous, a waste of your time and everyone else’s.
Wait. She had an idea.
“Coach Vlad.” Wednesday finished walking until she stood right in front of him, her mask under her arm. “I request Y/N as my opponent.”
Coach Vlad sighed, but nodded once.
“Y/N!” You looked up at them with your sinfully innocent, closed-mouth smile. “You’re with Addams.”
The way your face dropped was almost comical. Yoko and Divina turned to hide their smiles even though their laughter was easily heard. Through her own smile, Bianca patted you on the shoulder and told you something that made you roll your eyes and sigh. Nonetheless, you stood up straight and walked over to where Wednesday was waiting. Just the sight of you walking closer had her palms sweaty.
Oh, she was going to make you suffer.
“Your saber,” Coach Vlad said, holding the piece out for you to take. “You remember your stance?”
“I remember a stance,” you sighed.
“Just do your best.” He didn’t sound too convinced in your ability to do so.
“She’s going to hurt me,” you mumbled, but you pulled the mask down over your face and stood ready.
Your stance truly was terrible, whoever had instructed you needed a refresher of their own. It was like the saber was nothing but an added weight to your arm instead of an extension. The positioning of your feet left you open to tripping or, terrifyingly, breaking a knee. She pulled her own helmet down to hide her smile.
This was going to be fun.
She lunged, and you reacted exactly how she had anticipated; with a sporadic deflect and a step back. There was a hesitation before her next move, making sure you were going to behave how she believed, and she moved forward again. Right there, you stepped back out of reach again. You were immediately on the defensive.
It took only three more moves before her saber caught you in the chest. One point, she thought as you visibly sighed and stood up straight. Coach Vlad put you both back into the starting position, and you stood with a bit more determination. She started again, and you managed to get one decent offensive combination in before Wednesday caught you again, flipping your helmet off your face.
“Holy shit,” you whispered as you turned around to find it; it was on the other side of the mat.
The flush to your cheeks caught Wednesday’s attention before her eyes were drawn to the sheen of sweat on your skin. Strands of hair stuck to your forehead and she had to fight the urge to step forward and push it back. Her fingers twitched at the thought of wiping away the drop of sweat on the tip of your nose. Why did you have to smile at her like that? Like she was something you would die for.
Oh, your mere presence was becoming insufferable.
“I would like to invoke a military challenge.” Coach Vlad sighed. “No tips. No mask. First blood.”
“It is up to you,” Coach Vlad said in your direction.
You looked at Wednesday and tilted your head slightly. What was going on in your head? It was a clear indication that you were thinking of something, but what it could be, she had no idea. If you accepted, you would surely lose; a swordsman, you certainly were not. But if you didn’t accept, everyone would know, and you were far too proud for that to happen.
“One request,” you said. Wednesday nodded for you to continue. “I can hold the blade however I wish.”
An odd request. What would your stance have to do with anything, you had clearly proven this was not your strong suit. But if you were convinced it would help you, who was Wednesday to deny you the much-needed advantage? She gave you a single nod, and you smiled before leaning back into a stance that was far more natural for you.
Ah. Wednesday saw her mistake immediately in the way you held the blade. The way you held yourself, more relaxed and agile on your feet. You held the blade down by your left hip and spun it once, your fingers seeming far more at home than in a fencing stance. So you were a swordsman, just not a fencer. This was going to be fun.
You made the first move, an overhead blow. She parried it easily and you stepped back, changing your stance ever so slightly. Ah; you were testing the waters. As you swung again, the difference in your attack barely noticeable, her thoughts started running wild in a mix of counterattacks and her own observations.
Clearly you had done this before. While you certainly weren’t using anything that would be considered legal in fencing, you were able to attack and defend yourself with relative ease. Your footwork could use a little refining as you stumbled when stepping back, but the rest was adequate. More than adequate, if she was being completely honest. It was-
“-ha!”
Wednesday felt the tip of your saber against her chest; why hadn’t you drawn blood and taken the win? Her eyes narrowed as she stepped aside, starting her own offensive. You were not going to take her down, especially not in front of the whole class. She was a proud woman and she would not be taken down by someone by the likes of you.
With no intent of her own, the intensity of her offensive increased as her mind continued to run through everything she was feeling. How the scrunch of your nose in concentration made her palms sweaty. Or how the snarl that tugged on your lips when you managed to sneak onto the offensive managed to make her neck feel hot and her mouth go dry.
She was so distracted by her own damned introspection that she didn’t notice you trip and fall to your knee until it was too late. With an overhand strike, you held your own saber up and blocked it, holding the both of you in an impasse. Your snarl stayed as you looked up and met her eyes, and your face slowly relaxed.
The sparkle in your eyes reminded her of her father. The way he would look at her mother, or even at her and Pugsley. It was a look of admiration, amusement, endearment. A look that said “I am yours, do as you wish.” What could have possibly possessed you to look at her that way? She had agreed to go to the Rave’N with you, had even given you a kiss on the cheek, but what had wormed its way into your brain to make you think she was even capable of reciprocating whatever feelings you were currently displaying on your face?
And why did it make Wednesday want to kill for you?
With a single move, Wednesday knocked the saber out of your hands and let the momentum carry her blade to your neck. You gasped once the cold blade reached its target, but your eyes still stayed locked on her. A smile formed on your lips slowly, and had to fight everything within herself not to reciprocate.
There was just something about seeing you kneeling before her with her blade pressed to your neck, breathing heavily and looking up at her with a smile on your lips that sent a shiver down Wednesday’s spine.
“Wednesday wins,” Coach Vlad called out.
She had almost forgotten she was in class.
With a quick exhale she removed her blade and stepped back. She did her best not to stare at the blood dripping down onto your white shirt. It had been a challenge that she had extended, and you had accepted willingly, yet the knowledge that you were bleeding because of her set something akin to guilt in the back of her throat. Surprisingly, it was accompanied by possessive pride as you continued to smile at her with that awestruck look you so often had.
“Come on, lover girl,” Bianca mumbled to you as she helped you back up to your feet. You still had yet to look away from Wednesday. “Let’s get you to the infirmary.”
You let Bianca guide you away, turning your head to see Wednesday once more before you finally exited the room and everyone went back about their business. The moment you left, all of that excitement and thrill faded from Wednesday’s veins, leaving her with nothing more than a hollow feeling. She didn’t feel any better after besting you, after humiliating you in front of the entire class and god himself. Those terrible, awful, torturous feelings were still present, and if taking it out on you still didn’t fix it then she was at a loss for what to do next.
You truly were becoming a thorn in her side.
—---
“Wednesday Addams, you are insufferable!”
That wasn’t quite how Wednesday expected to be greeted when she stepped back into the dorm for the first time that day. Classes had finished as usual and she had seen you in chemistry with a piece of gauze over your fresh wound. You had smiled at her just as always, if not a little more dreamy, before being seated with Ajax. Why the teacher had assumed you two would make a good pair, she had no idea.
You both ended up setting another fire. There weren’t even any flammable liquids involved that time. It was impressive, actually.
Then after classes were over, Wednesday had gone to the one place she knew no one would truly bother her; the bee hives. Eugene was there, of course, but he knew when to give her space. Besides, it was nice to have the silent company as she tried to dig through her thoughts and emotions.
This damned school was making her soft.
But she had no idea what had happened for Enid to scold her the minute she walked through the door. It was clear something was going on by the way Enid stood there with her arms crossed over her chest, and Thing was on her shoulder. They were both looking at her like she was crazy. Maybe she was, it would explain the anomalies she was experiencing within herself lately.
“We do not challenge our crushes to a duel!” Enid shouted again once Wednesday had remained silent. “And before you ask, Yoko sent me a video.”
Of course it had been Yoko. If anyone was going to spread the news about what had happened during fencing, it would be Yoko. She was nothing if not a fascinatingly natural spy, and with her two gossip-obsessed girlfriends, it was only logical. Wednesday shouldn’t have been surprised that Enid had found out, only that it had happened so quickly.
“Fencing is a large part of the class,” Wednesday said as she stood up straighter. “I simply needed an opponent.”
“See, normally I would believe you, but you smiled when you beat her.”
No. No, that was impossible, Wednesday did not smile. But when Enid held her phone out to show the video, Wednesday watched in horror as she did, indeed, smile just slightly. The moment her saber had sliced into your neck, the briefest of smiles had appeared. Was that why you had smiled at her in return?
“I am… unused to feeling such things,” Wednesday said slowly only after turning around so she wouldn’t have to actually face Enid. “I required an outlet for these… emotions.”
“Attempted decapitation is not how we deal with our emotions,” Enid argued. “What if she had actually been hurt?”
She supposed Enid was right, although she was drastically dramatizing the event; you hadn’t been nearly decapitated. It had been a simple, clean cut, it would heal in a week or two. And admittedly the thought of you being hurt, by her hands no less, was… less than appealing.
“I admit I am unversed in this area,” Wednesday said as she finally turned back around. Enid and Thing were still looking at her in exasperation.
Thing signed a few things on Enid’s shoulder that had Wednesday’s heart fluttering.
“Thing is right,” Enid said. She looked far too comfortable about teasing Wednesday. “How about you start with an actual date?”
