Oh, thank you so very much! Glad you liked it, and it'll be a pleasure to answer your questions, though I can't promise my answers will be as coherent as the stuff in the post;
Maps Stuff
Generally speaking, I'm imagining that the cartography of the Warp would've been a process unfolding gradually over several generations, as disparate groups with varying degrees of communication picked away at the few specific routes they actually cared about. Basically, several dozen puzzle pictures of every size, detail, and reliability, overlapping and coexisting at the same time across the Worlds. Everyone who crossed the Warp, from gargantuan trading companies to great power navies, would've competed to make their own maps and keep them firmly in their own hands. Accurate maps could provide a crucial leg up for any mercantile or military venture, equalling in value a fleet of ships or a dozen skilled captains.
An actual, 'complete' map of all Transit Zones and the contours between them would, then, have been a fairly recent phenomenon, probably around or soon after the formation of the United Commonwealth.
As for the actual process of mapping the Warp, it's very much more the former example of yours than the latter. While death on the high seas was an expected risk, none of the above actors would've risked skilled crews and valuable equipment so recklessly. Also, if your ship gets lost in the Warp, there's not exactly any land to wreck on; anything that doesn't sink to the bottom generally gets pulled into a storm, to be devoured by it.
Now, to spitball on the actual process of mapping the Warp, it'll probably start by taking the most immediately obvious 'safe' routes from one known Zone to another; every contour starts and ends at a Transit Zone, but most will split or merge at various points along the way, with the main 'branch' being the widest passage and their branches thinning out from it. Most offshoots wind up just reconnecting somewhere 'downstream' but by an even longer route, but some actually cut down on travel time, or else connect two different 'main' contours together. Mapping, then, is an exercise in finding out the specific paths charted by every known contour and their branches to find the shortest distance from one Zone to another. As you might expect, this involves a lot of trial and error, but often proves worth it.
'Shifting'
Pretty glacial, to be honest. Over the course of a decade, the length and shape of a main contour might move a few hundred kilometres or so, but since they start and end where you were going anyways this doesn't do much beyond adding to or cutting travel time by the main roots.
Things get much more interesting for branch contours; unlike their stoic sources, these can last anywhere from mere days to a year or longer, coming into or out of existence in brilliant flashes of storm and thunder constantly. Thus, most of a cartographer's time would be spent keeping their list of branching contours as up to date as possible with the fickle whims of the Warp.
Ship Stuff
Well... the short answer is that the development of marine engineering technologies would've tracked pretty well with what happened IRL (since I've got IRL and the 12 Worlds pegged roughly to the same 'present day' because I'm lazy). Ships would be as austere or complex as their buyers ordered, with some pretty massive diversity in ship designs, methods, and uses. Ships designed to traverse the Warp would have an edge over 'Worlds-only' vessels in the sheer strength of their hulls, usually, and there's enough 'absolutely necessary' equipment to make the Warp nearly hospitable to crowd out a fair amount of luxuries (then again, for the right price...).
The long answer is that I haven't figured out the precise timeline of this tech but I would one day very much like to. There's plenty of curious economic or magical-technical details of the 12 Worlds which I'm sure would give me opportunities to develop a proper history of shipping innovation, but I just haven't done it yet.
Crystal Stuff
Hmm, don't usually think deeper for my Magic stuff than 'a crystal or crystal like thing does', but I'll try!
To clarify for the 12 Worlds at large, the border between Science and Magic doesn't really exist, kinda; for the most part, what counts as magic relative to the real world is just the natural laws that govern the reality of the 12 Worlds, as scientific and ironhard as the more realistic ones. Doesn't mean I actually know what all those rules are, if I'm honest, but in-setting they'll certainly act like they do.
To put it briefly, the ordered and regular internal structure of a 'magic' crystal, way above and beyond a common pretty rock, is what endows it with the ability to directly interact with the Underlay. I don't have any plans on differentiating between different crystals by any of their other (visual) properties at the moment, but as far as 'magic' goes the characteristic that lets these compass crystals be acted on by the Zones means they don't 'do' anything else; crystals are pretty much all single purpose.
Navigation Stuff
So, to briefly explain the 'Zones' again for this; across the otherwise indistinguishable expanse of the Warp, Zones form expansive patches of calm seas spread sporadically across its surface, each linked to a single World. Each exerts a slightly different force onto the Underlay, which different crystals can be attuned to and align themselves with. Once you're in a zone, there's nothing else to it; you can go from anywhere in a Zone to any of a World's own numerous Zones.
Now, it's important to note that aligning directionally is the only thing they do; AKA, you're not getting any distance information from just the one crystal. Which is fine if you know exactly which Zone you'd like to go to, but makes more complex navigation a little tricky.
And that's why most compasses have at least two!
Tumblr media
BOO! MATH!
Basically, if you know the distance (from your Charts) between any two Zones, and you know the angle formed between two aligned crystals facing those two points (like I demonstrated in that other picture), then you can calculate with reasonable accuracy your own distance from those two points, and from there get your own position 'in general'. Finicky and requires high sensitivity for the absolute highest degrees of accuracy, but modern systems are up to the task of giving metre scale readings.
Navigators Stuff
Remember when I said I usually don't think deep for Magic? Yeah, this is where that happens.
So, I said most Magic basically operates on a scientific basis, but I've had an impulse in my mind to fudge that a bit when it comes to 'people magic', basically anything that the human mind can do on its own. The hand-wave generalisation here is that the manipulation and changing of the Underlay exists where particularly strong 'order' / complexity in reality emerges from the wider state of disorder, with magic crystals representing a high degree of order, and the conscious human mind and 'soul' having a very ordered character.
Now, for the actual Navigators stuff, at the moment I'm leaning towards them being absolutely necessary to enter the Warp at all. Step one is casting a protective bubble of frothing Warp-stuff into the world around the vessel in question, effectively immersing it with one foot on either end. Then, with a great crash of a torn reality, the ship steps through and collapses into the Warp. Safe to say, quite an intense process.
The analogy my brain uses is comparing 'Transiting' between Worlds and the Warp to solving a really, really convoluted maze with a rapidly shifting layout. Navigators not only carve that tunnel, but also guide their vessel within it to safety on the other side. This, though, is really hard, as is just being able to conjure the aforementioned bubble at all, so it takes years of training to turn anyone into a skilled enough Navigator to get a ship across intact and with a mostly living crew. Good Navigators, and I mean ones who've wandered the seas for decades, could pull a battleship through in seconds with barely a bit of turbulence, but those are few and far between.
I don't do this but I wanna start so
@akiwitch @verba-writing @littleshopofchaos @a-scaly-troublemaker
Tell me something about one of your WIPs (spoiler free) that you don't get to talk about as much as you'd like
Can be anything, characters, backstories, worldbuilding, anything as long as it's spoiler free
And feel free to pass on the sentiment and ask others the same!

I like the divorce au because that means claude was planning to bomb her girlfriend's ex husband
she never stopped trying to bomb him even after the whole domestication arc. he's the road runner to claude's will-e coyote, if the roadrunner's main defence was catching the coyote's bombs, throwing them back at her, and getting both of them banned from ever being in the same room without supervision

Sibling Shuffle: The Darkman Problem
FINALLY FINISHED. WHOOOOOOO!
I’m a bit iffy about some of the dialogue (idk of its awkward or not) but I finished this late at night and don’t want to change it right now
A bit of context: the question this minicomic is based on is right here. For those who don’t know, back in January I posted to my main blog a question I had about Megaman 5: Did Dr. Light know that the Protoman who kidnapped him in the intro was not the actual Protoman?
While it’s hard to say for sure for the original universe (though if you have an opinion / evidence suggesting either way please share in the original post), there is a VERY clear answer for this universe…
Tumblr media
…And that answer is yes, yes he did.
No one who actually interacted with Rock before thought Darkman was him lol
Darkman was trying to go for a "without direction / family / a home, turned to crime" kind of thing. And that’s like. Contrary to his function.
Random civilians? Yeah, most of them could believe it. The Robot Master attacks and fact he once worked for Wily weren’t really helping. His family? Absolutely not! Everyone who knows Rock knows he’s a sweet kid who wouldn’t intentionally hurt anyone unless there was no other way.
(Idk if it’s clear but that’s basically what Dr. Light is saying: “your disguise is so bad, you didn’t even grab me or gesture with the correct hand. I doubt literally anyone this was supposed to fool actually fell for it.”)
————
Rock is left-handed! They made him a leftie in the games for readability, I believe - it would look weird if he fired from his right hand; he’d have to turn his body to face away from the audience. I try to keep it so he gestures with the left hand more than his right, but I’m not the best at The Focus Thing™️ and I may have drawn him gesturing with his right accidentally a few times.
To distinguish between Rock and Darkman, I desaturated Darkman’s colors a bit!
I didn’t feel like doing much for backgrounds. The one in this comic is a slightly-edited screenshot from a scene in the game taking place at the very end.
"It was at this moment that Darkman IV knew: he ****ed up"

Next Up: Cave In
As always, please ask any questions you have!

here it is - a fan design for the finnish national team in i11 universe!
I tried to add as many references to birds and finland as I could, and I'll put them under a cut if someone's interested!
general team notes:
our actual national soccer team is named Huuhkajat (the horned owls) after a horned owl that one day randomly started to live in the team's home stadium building - hence the team name and bird theme
that owl got named Bubi, and this team's coach is based on him
general team hissatsu are themed after owls or famous finnish things
all the players are based on the official(?) regional birds
Tuoni:
based on a whooper swan (laulujoutsen), which is the national bird (captain status)
hissatsu is named after a famous finnish song (literal translation: a swan song)
name comes from the swan of Tuoni; a swan that swims in the river to afterlife in Kalevala, and anyone who harms it will die
Ukko
based on a wood grouse (metso)
hissatsu is a reference to a famous painting "Taistelevat metsot" which decipts two grouses battling
name means an older man or a guy, and the male bird is also called "ukkometso"
Erne
based on a white-tailed eagle (merikotka)
name is from the first finnish-built space craft part, and the symbol of the project was a white-tailed eagle
Tintti
based on a blue tit (sinitiainen)
"tintti" is a general nickname for tits (the birds), but also the finnish name for Tintin
Pukki
based on Teemu Pukki, probs the most famous finnish soccer player
and his last name literally means a goat (vuohipukki)
that's all
Kopek
based on a willow ptarmigan (riekko)
most grouses in northern finland make a coil/a nest in the snow for warmth and safety from predators, and his hissatsu is directly borrowed from that
name is literally the sound the bird makes (kopek-kopek-kopek..)
Hakkinen
based on a western jackdaw (naakka)
name is an historical name for the bird, and Häkkinen is a common family name here
Apus
based on a common swift (tervapääsky)
name comes from the latin name (apus apus)
Juha
based on a white-backed woodpecker (valkoselkätikka)
name is.... based on a teacher I had, who was called both Juha and literally a woodpecker.... (this is an inside thing for just me sorry)
Suo
based on a common crane
hissatsu comes from an old belief of cranes carrying the weight of the sky, and they're the most notable species that fly in wedges
name means literally a swamp, which has been the best place to spot cranes here
Valokainen
based on a black-throated loon (kuikka)
name is from an old finnish poem singer, Elessei Valokainen. A loon is in an important role in the earth-diver myth that tells the creation of the world, and Valokainen's story of it from 1908 has been recorded
I also forgot to wrote it in the image but want to mention, these birds have the most iconic cry on summer lakeside evenings, so Valokainen has a laugh that kinda sounds like that

DVD commentary about half footJason. He's such a little guy but God I love him.
Anything, brujay/royjay/jaydick, please tell me more about his relationships.
Ahhh Jaysun (half-foot Jason) my incredibly unwell little guy. For those who don't know, I have two fics about a dcu and dungeon meshi fusion (shameless self plug). There's a lot of words so...whoops lol.
So the thing about the Dungeon Meshi universe, is that when you put in dc, the subtext involving classism, racism and such that the author's don't think about/unwittingly put in becomes straight text. And in that it can lead to a lot of unfortunate implications becoming very...straight up there. And I'll openly admit that I'm pretty biased against Bruce so it won't be kind to him.
Jaysun (Jay + Sun to fit with the half-foot naming convention), was created when I started looking more into the lore of Dungeon Meshi. With half-foots known as thieves, liars, and shady overall and the general populace not even thinking twice about exploiting them or seeing them as the bottom of the hierarchy, it reads a lot like how dc makes heroes view criminals and poverty (if they aren't infantalizing the poor which is also a thing that the setting does to half-foots). And unlike "demi-humans" they're part of overall mainstream society instead of something separate (and not considered human). Which to me felt like a perfect fit for Jason both as Robin and as an adult because it's a life that Bruce wouldn't even be able to fathom. Alongside that, with a lower life expectancy, Bruce's patronizing attitude (and that of everyone else) is only aggravated and increased towards Jaysun.
Meanwhile Bruce, to me, has to be in a position of privilege and wealth for his whole thing to work. A lot of his flaws and skills comes from that disconnect. And in Dungeon Meshi, the most privileged are Elves and Dwarves. And for Bruce I chose the latter as it fits more in his image of masculinity as well as his focus on technology and combat (and Bruce with magic is just, why are you even using Bruce at that point when his whole shtick is baseline human fighting crime/things way above his weight class). Add into that half-foor culture idolizing (or at least seeing as something to strive for) dwarves and their culture, it just made for a really messy situation when Bruce adopts Jaysun.
But the thing is, Jaysun being adopted at 12 going on 13 is different than Jason being adopted at that age because a half-foot is considered a full adult by age 14 and even then we see people under that age doing things we'd connect to "adulthood" (i.e. Chilchuck was a father of two by the time he was fourteen). It leads to a messy situation where Jaysun already feels and considers himself an adult (which Jason does in the comics as well, and is something Bruce straight up says to Gordon because of Jason's experiences despite the guy barely being a teenager). This leads to a Mia-esque situation where Jaysun falls for Bruce in a romantic and sexual sense since he is, by all accounts, soon an adult (he still dies at the same age)(Mia did have short lived crushes on Ollie and later Connor and Roy and it is something normal that happens to older foster kids. Repeat, this is normal and those feelings later morph into something different in most cases.) This is something that Bruce never even considers about because dwarves aren't adults until they're 40 (which means to Bruce even Dick who is an adult man by tall-men standards, is still a kid and this was a major wedge between them as Bruce simply didn't internalize the differences between them).
It also leads to major imposter syndrome in Jaysun as he sees himself as a replacement for Dick (which Jason also does), but in this case it's one who's even easier to control and treat like a pet. Is he right? Only sorta. Bruce probably doesn't mean to do so, but it's in the same way Senshi and Marcille still haven't understood the way they treat their friends (see: Marcille and Falin).
A load of stuff happens between Jaysun's death and him leaving Gotham for Melini (for reasons I still gotta write about 😅)
For relationships:
Jaysun -> Roy: Roy is probably the person Jaysun trusts the most. Roy, as someone from the Western Continent, has had his fair share of experiences close to Jaysun's involving the perception against him as well as experiences being dropped by loved ones even if they have, for the most part, reconciled. Roy is one of the five (him, Kori, Bizarro, Artemis, Talia) people that knows Jaysun's ability to use magic despite his race's infamous lack of skill and capability with it. He doesn't know the reason WHY, but he knows when to push and when not to. Jaysun and Roy are regulars in dungeon parties that the other leads or are a part of. Jaysun meanwhile is someone who will have to be torn apart from Roy because they both have attachment issues worse than Jaysun's self image, self harm, and fear of abandonment issues (which Roy does share). Most of these will take a lot of work to handle but considering Jaysun's stuck on light to no work for the next few months (the actual canon dungeon meshi story), I have faith in them.
Jaysun -> Dick: So so so so many Bruce issues holy shit. As much as Dick and Jaysun don't want to admit it, both have a load of similar experiences as not being seen as a person with agency caused by being raised by a long lived race when both of them are short lived ones (Dick being a tall-man). This is something that's touched upon with Kabru in Dungeon Meshi, but his foster mother was different beast from Bruce though both have absolutely caused issues in their kids. At the same time Jaysun having been taken in second, resents Dick for having a closer place to Bruce while Jaysun feels like he was more of a pet than a son (both part of the family but not equal in it). Meanwhile Dick dislikes Jaysun's overall demeanor and holds what he did in Gotham against him (which, fair) even if in the end both of them are in the same place (away from Bruce, not thought of completely as people by the man they devoted a large chunk of their lives to (most of his life in Dick's case as at 30 he's reached the halfway point for tall-men), and floundering to find footing despite their supports networks (Dick was part of a dungeoneering group called the Titans which are about as close as you can get to celebrity status for their kind of work). Also unlike Jaysun, Dick hasn't accepted his own attraction to Bruce who despite the over twenty years he's known Dick, has changed little while Dick has become a man grown. They had sex once in the dungeon that was ill-advised and hurt both of them and probably have it a few more times specifically for those reasons until they start seeing one another on more equal terms (if that ever happens). Tldr; the spectre of Bruce haunts them.
#Whooo that was way more words than I expected#And a lot feels like rehashing what's in the fics which...whoops my bad#Some interesting things I didn't add is that in this universe Tim being taken in absolutely fucks Jaysun up more than it did Jason#Because it fits Jaysun's internalized racism against himself as Tim is a gnome#A long lived race for now that Bruce is at an age dwarves would generally have kids and one who's aging matches Bruce's#Unlike Dick who might hit a little above 60 and Jaysun who doubts he'll make it past 50#While Bruce lives well into his 200s and Tim at around 300#Tim is also technically older than Jaysun and Dick but he's still not age of majority and probably won't be until they're dead#Damian is a spoiler#Kori Artemis and Bizarro are all unique and fan creations in the world of dungeon meshi that I tried to fit in#Kori being Tamaranean which takes that fact that Tamaraneans are descended from big cats (I think revealed in ntt)#By making her the Dungeon Meshi equivalent of a tabaxi (since dm is inspired by western tabletop)#Seen as a demi-human in Melini but one that's never seen since they live in the western continent and are less lucrative than kobolds#In the slave trade in universe#Artemis meanwhile is still an Amazon which is kind of like the in-between of an ogre and a tall-man.#The elven empire has tried to “make contact” (colonize) their home but has failed every time.#Bizzaro meanwhile is still a man-made creation but this time via magic and then further changed#By being made into an artificial beast man (bear edition)#Oof too much in the tags again#Well if there's questions send asks I guess. I still gotta get my hands on physical copies of dungeon meshi and the adventurer bibles#So some info may be wrong. And some are changed on purpose for a narrative purpose#Or just to make dc make sense without busting the entire setting#Azol's asks#Do I character tag him? Sure why not#Jason Todd

👀 and 🎉? <3
<3
👀 Tell me about an up and coming wip please!
hmmmmm really the only like, big wip i've got cooking is my dess raises kris au, and since i've talked about that as-a-whole a lot i'll instead talk about the one very specific character study i want to write for it! which is, of course. desschara.
see the thing is i am like, so incredibly aromantic. romantic relationships are not my thing At All, and i always really struggle to write them and understand wtf is going on there. people out there really experience love? wild.
but that's why i am SO drawn to desschara in this au, because the both of them ARE aromantic!!! so its a relationship i'm like, able to understand, 'cause it's the sort of way my relationships would work, yknow?
i really need to test-write them a few times to figure out how, exactly, their dynamic is going to work, though...and thus this particular wip!
they do have a lot of differences (ex. chara is asexual, dess allo; chara is loveless, dess isn't) but at the same time they're also the only person the other has met who is actually On Their Level in terms of what they want out of a relationship. (ex. i do think i'm going to write dess&asriel as azzy having romantic feelings for her--feelings dess was aware of and uncomfortable with, because she never wanted that. but w/ chara that's not a worry, yknow? they get each other!) and so because of that i think they can work out eventually, even if they don't start out like that.
basically, i need to write them a few times to figure out their initial dynamic! which i want nailed down before i start Actually writing the au lol. i'll do this for other characters too but desschara are the ones im thinking the most about rn <3
and i'll write it...one day. when im done with my. um. current wip. which is fanfiction about vera from son of sea foam--
🎉 What leads you to consider a fic a success?
hmm....i think at a most basic level it would be that i completed it and am happy with it. which is most things i end up writing. at the end of the day i do write for myself, because these are stories i want to tell--if i'm happy with it, and had fun in the process, that's a success!
but i POST stories because i want to share them with the world and talk with other people about the ideas and themes and Things that drew me to writing in the first place. so, on that level, i do really like it when people post Very Long Comments on my fics, and ESPECIALLY when on multichaptered stuff people are like, actively thinking about and theorizing on what might happen next. by that metric my madoka magica daemon au was the most fun to post, because i had a lovely and amazing group of commenters and watching them all try to piece together my homura mystery that was daemon-au specific was truly so much fun.
also comments where the reader was able to realize things about themselves through my fic. i get this a lot on my coyotekris stuff and THAT is like...it just makes me so so so happy, 'cause there's not a lot of stories out there about being nonhuman, and being able to see that as an option is real big in like, coming to terms with that about yourself. at least it was for me. and my stories being that for other people is!! so cool!!!
but at the end of the day some of my favorite fics i've written do bad in terms of like, ao3 metrics! so at the end of the day i do have to ask myself, am i happy with this? am i putting into words things i could not say otherwise? and 99% of the time the answer is yes, and i'm happy.

Phew… well… I mean… you and I talk about a lot of stuff so you already know my stance on how I think Mukuro and Chrome are just a unit. A duo, are supposed to be together. So anything that breaks them up is kinda SQUINT to me. Still, the dynamic of 5996 sounds fun to me, lolol so I mean… yeah… I suppose I could ship it lololol. (So much for they are a duo, and they are supposed to be for each other amirite?)
We’ve seen the way that both Gokudera and Chrome have developed as characters throughout the series. He certainly becomes a bit more patient (in regards to the violence) and he is able to open up to more people. He can accept more people into his life and be ready to do what he can for them. He’s a very loyal kind of character who inwardly feels a lot of things, complex emotions but may not be very aware of what the complex emotions mean.
Emotional intelligence a lil slow with him. Chrome has more emotional intelligence I’d say but it is also a bit… flawed in a sense? I think in due time it will heal and be better because it does seem that she’s a bit more wary about people, especially if they extend goodness towards her. Likely due to her experiences in her ‘past life’ meaning her life as Nagi.
The ways in which I think that they can work well together largely stems from the fact of their pasts. Both have some hurtful history when it comes to parents. Gokudera feels his father had his mother killed and he lost his mother on the day of his birthday. Chrome… as we know… was basically being abandoned by her parents if you really think about it. How the mother refused to ‘cut herself for the sake of that child’. Both have the pains of their parents, and this is pretty different from a whole lot of the Vongola crew. Tsuna has a wonderful mother who loves him (yes I’m ignoring Iemitsu, but we know he cares too). Haru has a doting father canonically. We can assume she has a loving mother as well. Yamamoto has a good dad, no idea on mother. The Sasagawas surely have a good relationship with their parents. Lambo basically has Nana now.
These two have pains from their pasts with parents that could possibly let them feel a bit out of place when with the others. It is a bit different when you talk to people who had such a vastly different upbringing than you did from what I personally noticed. Sometimes it can make you feel out of place and it could feel harder to relate. They both may be able to feel more in tune with each other in such circumstances. Like if they ever take a step back because they don’t really know how to act in situations of say… parent teacher conferences, or the days where parents can come in to watch how their children are at school. Both of them may feel out of place there even though Gokudera has Bianchi. I’m not sure if Chrome would have someone stand in. Maybe someone from Kokuyo--?
Anyways I think they could bond in such situations because they get it. They understand how it is. Chrome is a polite girl, reserved, and isn’t too nosey. Her personality isn’t too strong. It does work kind of nicely in the sense that they wouldn’t really have issues of altercations and fights because of having two strong personalities. What I do think is nice is that because of their differences in personalities and vibes, that they could rub off on one another. Gokudera can learn to be more calm and patient. Learn a bit more of her passive kind of attitude, and she can learn how to be more assertive. To be more dominant, and to be more defensive when it comes to herself. Don’t just take whatever nonsense people say to you (looking at you MM).
They could be a good influence on each other. I can see as the right hand, Gokudera would want to look out for all the guardians, and with his general distrust in Mukuro, he would look after her. If he for any reason thinks that Chrome isn’t being treated well, he’d watch out for her. He is a bit awkward about things but he’s also pretty logical and efficient. I could see him dropping hints to the girls so they could check up on Chrome if he worried. If the situation was something that he thought he could deal with, he would step in himself, but more the more emotional affairs, he’d leave that to the girls. He’s considerate in that logical way.
The main source of contention, I suppose, would be Mukuro. He and Chrome are a unit and she does ally herself to him. The biggest character development for her is wanting to stand on her own and be able to stand side by side with Mukuro. To be a warrior alongside him. With that kind of a set up, it is a bit more difficult to have the room to accept someone else into that equation, especially someone who doesn’t quite trust the person you’ve tied yourself to. Makes it a bit more complex.
However, we do know that Gokudera is a pretty stubborn guy, so it is possible that he was worried about Chrome and as the right hand, made it a point to check in on her often. This results in him spending more time with them and he gets to understand Mukuro better and maybe come to terms with the idea that he can sorta trust the guy, and be more or less okay with him due to Chrome’s positive influence of her wanting for everyone to get along. I see her trying her best so that both sides can come together and accept each other. Help Gokudera see that Mukuro isn’t so bad, if you take his entirety into account.
One day that it may work is that though they are a unit and they work great together, Mukuro doesn’t see Chrome as anything past a sister or another extension of himself. IF he were to regard Chrome as such, then I could see there being room for Chrome and Gokudera being able to be a couple, since then it opens her up to seeing people so as long as Mukuro gives the okay. He would care for having someone who can protect Chrome and be there to take care of her. Someone who would be able to understand her pains and be patient enough to work with her through them.
Gokudera has a very protective aspect to his personality so he could protect her fine. He isn’t one to see anyone as lesser because they aren’t skilled, are sickly, are less charismatic, etc. He sees people for who they are and that’s it. That is a great quality to have for a person who may struggle to see their own worth as themselves. It is good for someone who has insecurity issues. It’s good for someone who may doubt themselves, etc. I’d suppose a good way to look at it is that Gokudera doesn’t have expectations for people, he just looks at them for what they are. It’s a lot harder to do than most would think.
You may look at someone and have expectations without realizing it. Like you may think that they may do such and such for you, or that you may want to enjoy writing out certain scenarios with someone and that you hope that they’d be excited about it just as much as you are. You may hope that they’ll like the same ships that you do for example. People just have expectations and hopes for people. Gokudera doesn’t really do that and he looks at people for who they are and what they’ve shown themselves to be.
Tsuna is a bit of a curve ball because Gokudera does seem to have expectations for him based off how he acts, but it’s really based off the feats that Tsuna has done when in dying will mode. He knows and has seen Tsuna do great things. A lot of what he says and boasts Tsuna for aren’t exactly incorrect because Dying will mode Tsuna IS a part of who he is. So yeah, Gokudera is one who sees people for who they are. So he won’t get disappointed or anything if they turn out differently than he thought or came off as weak.
He's a great source of support in that way because you can count on him to just like you for you. He observes and gets to know who people are based on their actions.
His temper sure is a thing, but I think Mukuro could forgive that lol. I think if it came to that kind of a situation, Mukuro would be okay with entrusting Chrome with him when Mukuro wasn’t around to watch over her. I think it’s a good dynamic of two people who could become comfortable with each other, console in each other about their experiences and both try to go down a path of healing. Just journey on the path of healing together and support the other when possible. It’s kinda sweet.
I suppose for some cute ideas/scenarios… hm… like Gokudera letting it go if someone is talking shit about him because it’s not worth his time and energy and Chrome going nope, I’m going to talk to them. Asserting herself because she doesn’t want anyone talking badly about him and she’s not backing down from it. Like lil Chrome putting her foot down to really assert herself for his sake. I feel like that would be a oh, this feels nice, to have someone care this much for me and it comes from someone who normally has a bit more of a passive side. Ahhhh… yes… good food.
AS THE CERTIFIED MUKURO DISDAINER THAT I AM- jk, but imagine a spat between Gokudera and Mukuro and Chrome actually takes Gokudera’s side for once. Mukuro feeling like a brother who got betrayed by his sis, and Gokudera feeling like oh- OH! She took my side, in your FACE, Mukuro! But there’s always that side too where he feels touched that she was willing to take his side against Mukuro because she does value his opinion and his stance on things. It isn’t just her devoted loyalty to Mukuro that makes up who she is. There’s more to her than that. I just find it simple but cute. Mhm mhm. I like small things like that. Sue me.
I… like the idea that Uri is very hissy towards most people and other animals, but she starts to notice that Chrome starts having more of Gokudera’s scent because they spend a lot of time together and so she curiously just walks right up to the girl to sniff her and then gets taken in by her calm and sweet aura. We know Chrome likes cats so it’s like oho, I like this one! She’s very nice! Just curl up to Chrome and hiss at Gokudera. Just rub up against Chrome a lot. If the owl comes around, sucks to SUCK! YOU GO AWAY! You can have Gokudera (for now). So you have Uri just bonding with Chrome and Gokudera and Fukurou having no other choice but to bond together over them losing to Uri. (ehehehehe) Then they just get used to that too and the day Uri notices why is that owl and my master getting along well? He has treats for it too? NOT ON MY PAW!!!! THAT’S MY SPOT! Kekek. Willful Uri. BEST

I did my best. Again, this is in no way associated to RP and what portrayals I see on dash. This is just a thought exercise based off how I think things could work.
